Yeah those windows need to be blocked off, or holes need to be added next to them (the brick one needs a hole on the right side from inside, not the left like how it currently is). Chasing in the main building is basically throwing the game unless you're an anti-loop/ranged killer.

Yep. I only went there bc they were down to 2 Survivors anyway so it didn´t really matter. Or so I thought. It´s the first time I´ve legit seen an infinite since the Haddonfield changes, or maybe that dude was hacking idk.

  • Darn. I played Spirit maybe 10 games total.Got her achievements but I think it was the only 4k I got with her. I find her to be the hardest Killer to play apart from nurse or hag, but that´s just me^^

  • If you´re going for perks, I´m afraid none of these could be considered great.

I use GF and Oni quite a lot. In my opinion they´re more challenging to play to their fullest potential but very rewarding if you get them down.

Be prepared to be revealed often and rekt by pallets if you go for Ghostface until you got more practice. My go to "Stealth" Killer is still Myers.

Even more so for Oni. Read a post today of someone asking if he got nerved. Several people agreed that it´s more likely that Survivors have gotten way better at avoiding not only the first, crucial hit but also which tiles are pretty much fully safe against the Kanabo.

Wraith is a Killer I play occasionally but find him fun too.

Freddy gets real boring real fast if you ask me.

Not so sure about conehead, I got his perks and achievements and never touched him again.

  • Darn...

I just played a couple matches. Good performance so far (on low medium though).

I asked about the issue in tech support btw. They recommended setting -fullscreen as a launch option on steam if you´re on that platform. Helps a bit

I mean, gotta give OP credit tho. They came up with a set of new items, plus add-ons, and mechanics, that don't seem insanely broken like you'd expect a gun to be.

I second this. I´m not in favor of the idea of guns in DBD per se, but kudos to you OP. Nicely thought through!

I overclocked my GPU (I don't know if you're talking about that) and I don't see any difference 😢 So I don't know what else to do. Looking for upgrading, but I can't afford it right know.

Nah no overclocking on my side. Temperature generation is bad as-is. I´m about to start the first matches of the day soon, maybe I´ll see a difference with todays patch. Have you tested if anything changed today yet? Patch notes claim at least the movement stuttering was adressed.

  • Yes. Among my peers are several "computer professionals" (I´m not exactly sure how to translate their professions to english, sry) that helped me to really get the most of my hardware setup. Before the recent update I played on max settings with great FPS, now I alternate between low and medium, hoping my graphic card doesn´t melt. Constantly forced to use max capacity.

This helped lessen the framedrops and stuttering. They occured mostly at the start of matches, but also throughout.

As an aside, that Isolation Room gen is one of the best gens to leave for last on Hawkins.

It's so far away from all other gens (mainly due to verticality) that it is quite annoying to defend as any killer who isn't Trapper, Hag, or Demogorgon.

The Portal-Room gen is also good to leave for the late-game. The drawback is that only a single survivor can do the Isolation gen, while the Portal gen may be played so that only 1-2 survivors can work on it (though the latter has better placements too).

Either way, both are on opposite ends of the map and way up high where it's easy to see most killers approaching.

Agreed. With a little nod towards Ghostface though, I got a lot of grabs on the upstairs gen on survivors that don´t have SC^^

  • Cool idea. I´d imagine certain combos of Killer powers would break the fragile frame of DBD. Imagine Dreamworld with a Doctor shocking around in it.

I hope it´s something they consider for the future though. Preferably after the game has been reasonably optimised.

  • I use the GTX 1050 as well. Game lobby takes up 97% capacity, it´s baffling.

  • @KingFrost said:

Yep, it's the one upstairs. I got this one by complete accident. Actually get most of my trophies/achievements by complete accident, and then wonder "What'd I do?"

    :D

  • @Exor said:

It's actually the gen upstairs on the other side of the map (the one that looks like an isolation cell and has only 1 spot to work on it.)

    Thank you very much :)

I don't struggle to survive. Perhaps you're projecting onto me.

You are downplaying the difficulty of playing Killer while suggeting the balance changes were unjustified. I understand it might seem that way for a new or more casual player. So the only possible conclusion is that you struggle with DBD in it´s current, more balanced state or just want EZ guaranteed wins like back then.

DBD on release was the most unbalanced game I´ve ever seen and the changes they made improved that a lot.

I won´t respond any further though. You seem to be either trolling or just kinda lost in some twisted thoughts.

  • Maybe you should start using perks then since you struggle so much to survive against the big bad killers?

  • If you think the balance changes over the years were bad there´s only one thing I wanna tell you:

    AM2CWPCGEC6T.png

  • But if they didn´t do it how could they justify calling the Killer camper/tunneler? :P

  • Vastly different interactions depending on Survivor/Killer.

For example, Myers doesn´t talk. He´d stalk and Kill them regardless of the circumstances.

I imagine there could be more wholesome and interesting stuff though.

Huntress and Jake roaming the woods, hunting and learning a Survival trick or two from one another.

Kazan seeing the talented yet troubled young David King might take on the role of his Sensei.

Danny and Jane might share their stories of working in the media, if they weren´t trapped in the realm might even do some networking.

The Doctor teaching Claudette more in-depth medical stuff in a fun and interesting way.

Edit: Forgot to mention Clown and Meg, as both come from the athletic field. They´d get along^^

I think it's just that a lot of players don't know what those terms really are, and they tend to throw them around very loosely. Camping and tunneling do exist, but not to the degree everyone claims- at least not in high ranks. (In purple and below, yes, there is a ton more camping and tunneling- less experienced killers seem to do it more often.) People tend to mistake the killer being lead back to hook by the other survivor they were chasing to be camping, or being farmed off hook by a teammate and downed immediately by the killer to be tunneling, when in reality, it's just the killer making a smart play. I wouldn't take it too personally, people just have a hard time accepting that they made mistakes. You see it in every game.

    ^this!

  • Depending on the map I can have a phone conversation while playing survivor and still run certain tiles till the Killer has to kick the pallet. Next

Leading question. How do you know they’re not already “doing the right thing” with their current development strategy? Why would you think that having literally everybody working on bugs is more productive than having one team working on tweaking old content and another team working on developing new content? What’s the art department working on while all the old bugs are being fixed? And how many actual major bugs are we talking about where this would make an impact at all? For instance they probably already have enough people working on fixing the new MMR system, they need time to test it though. And the exploit they need to close for the DC ban to come back up is also probably a high priority but might be difficult to figure out a fix for regardless of how many people are assigned to fixing it.

It doesn´t appear to be that way. Regarding optimisation, for example. The recent update had a huge negative impact on performance. The people on console....how long have they been begging for optimisation? 3 years, 4? So many people are complaining now about rubberbanding, lagspikes and weird movement bugs.

What about the silent survivor bug. It´s still there, just like the hooking bug and DS. How often does dead hard not work properly. Why are there no scratch marks on Ormond? I don´t wanna make this too long though, but DBD suffers from long lasting issues, some of them being prevalent for years(!).

I reckon a lot of people are fed up with what they percieve as slacking by the DEVs regarding game health. I understand that for a company with a product that has it´s own niche without competition, game health is not as sellable as new shiny little cosmetics for example. It´s their job after all and they need to make money from it.

You mention the MMR. Months of preparation only to fail miserably, then months of silence. Needs more testing,right... This isn´t meant in an insulting way, I actually made a pitty post for them when MMR started and crashed to the ground burning.

How long has it been since the DC ban exploit became widepsread? I can´t remember for sure to be fair. Maybe 3 months? Correct me if I´m wrong but if it were around that time or even longer you can´t claim with a straight face that this was a priority for them unless you have very low expectations on their abilities as game developers.

Anyways, if you haven´t guessed it, this was actually meant to be a more lighthearted post to get some opinions on the matter. As of right now the votes seem pretty divided which I find interesting.

Since it was a more fun little thing I wanted to do I hadn´t thought it through to the point where I´d consider the art team. These guys are their Fing MVPS if you ask me, they never fail to impress me.

Sometimes map and SWF does screw you over more than you think.

Playing as nurse, and you get hawkins? Probably should DC immediately. (Just a joke about DC)

Playing as myers or clown against SWF with OoO in midwich? There's little you can do besides doing the best you can, and hope they mess up so badly.

I don't really complain, but some rng in this game can really have a huge impact.

Of course the game can be stacked against a Killer, I agree. I have a feeling though that too many players use it as a convenient excuse when it was actually themselves that were responsible for their loss.

I don't play this game for new content. I would like the game to reliably work, though, and to run a whole lot better than it does today.

It´s the same for me. Unless it´s an absolutely mindblowing addition, like say Jason, I´d be fine with not getting new content until all the issues of the game were resolved.

I don´t think I can hug it any tighter. If I could, I´d be hacking.

Scooby Doo (circa era 1969-1984) really did have good villians with interesting powers. If nothing else they can use them as inspirations for the upcomming killers. And it kinda would be cool to include them in the DLC chapter. They were detectives and they were investigating crimes in spooky places (even if it was a cartoon). You could add Daphne and have a legendary skin of Velma or vice versa and do the same with Fred and Shaggy. And you could add Scooby as a perk for something useful, and when he sees the killer he rans away but you could call him back with Scooby snacks or find him hiding on the map somewhere. And it could be like taking a hit or sniffing the killer and point out from which direction the killer is coming from, or locating teammates, or finding chests or totems, or leaving scratch marks as a diversion for a certain period of time, but also adds a drawback that you do actions slower if he isn't by your side.

Omg I can´t help but kinda like these ideas :D

  • Please, please let this be real. Don´t play with our hopes and dreams!

  • It´s generally a really good thing to play both sides. Helps developing someempathy for the hardhips Killers/Survivors are facing. If more people did it regularly, certain issues wouldn´t be as prevalent as they are.

Congratz on your journey towards deeper understanding^^

  • Feelsbadman. There´s always room for improvement though. Bad streaks suck of course...I ran into too many teams with Object of Obsession to feel comfortable qeueing as Trapper anymore for example.

Yeah, DC's are pretty bad these days. Especially with certain survivors. "What is this? I misplayed and I am the first one to go down? I better DC in order to screw over my team and make it less fun for everyone. It's not like I will be punished for doing so." That is literally inside the mind of someone who DC's at the start. I have lost count of how many times games have been ruined because of that, so whenever that happens I give the last person the hatch and play kind of silly throughout the game.

Unfortunately I share your experience with the DC epidemic. Too bad the DEVs are unable to prevent widespread hacking, it´s the reason why the penalty is gone after all.

  • Despite being pleasant to look at I think midwich isn´t exactly well designed balance wise.

I dislike Salon, too, since in my opinion the same applies.

I like the changes to badham and Yamaoka Estate though. I hope they will do a good job with MacMillan, I love that realm.

So I have mixed feelings about the direction they´re moving with the maps.

  • I think it´s more due to the fact that people got the hang on how to play vs him. In jungle gyms or LT walls for example it´s next to impossible to get hits with the kanabo.

  • It isn´t. It´s just DS. No need to force a label onto it.

  • Ormond is basically the longest safe loop in the game, going all the way around and through the middle. 30+ safe pallets and strong af windows in the main building all linked together. Oh and it´s HUGE with barelay visible scratch marks if at all.

  • Is it meta? Maybe I´m lucky but I haven´t come across a Killer that uses these together.

I use Undying+ruin on Oni but none of my other roster members. Maybe I´ll give it a go some time.

  • @Squirrel_Thicc said:

Idk, why do killers constantly cry about our good perks and say that we're being toxic for escaping? It's not just survivors that are crybabies.

It´s a two-way street with perks. Ever read someones post crying rivers about NOED, BBQ, Ruin, Stridor, Undying...?

What this post is referring to is badmouthing killers for allegedly "scummy" (translate: efficient) choices during the match even when the Killer didn´t do it as a means to avoid any responsibility for their own bad decision making. It´s widespread in the community, and it´s not exclusive to survivors.

Note that in my opinion the only true scummy things a killer could do would be hard camping as leatherface, slugging but not hooking anybody, repeatedly hitting people on the hook, post game chat abuse. Everything else is fair game. Same goes for Survivors, you won´t see me accuse anyone of being scummy for doing gens, running tiles or going for saves. It´s neither side´s job to make the game as easy as possible for their opponents.

Going for a recently unhooked survivor could only be considered scummy if you actually tunnel them. This term is thrown around so much I think most people can´t remember the actual meaning anymore though.

  • @XyoulamX said:

I‘m a rank 6 Killer main (billy) and I consider myself pretty good, at least in my rank. I just had a game where all 4 survivors escaped and I didnt expect this, since something like this didnt happen for a long time. I usually 3k or get at least 2 kills. How do you handle 4 survivors escaping? Did I do something wrong or was it just bad luck? It was also swf.

You win some, you lose some. Maybe you didn´t perform as well as you could have, maybe the Survivors were just really good.

Bear in mind that the higher you move in the skill brackets (can be loosely tied to ranks) the more the balance shifts in favor of survivors.

Whereas you can usually afford to play generously against inexperienced survivors and still come out on top this doesn´t hold true against good players. You may need to adjust your playstyle accordingly, but be prepared for salt. There´s a certain kind of Survivor mains that will try to shame you into playing intentionally bad but laugh at you if you try to apply their own logic to them.

So many factors tie into this, it´s hard to point out a specific misplay sometimes.

And there´s map rng which can screw over Survivors and Killers alike.

  • @sharkster13 said:

I actually wouldn't mind if a Scary Movie chapter would come out. I actually like Cindy and Brenda better than Sidney and Gal + they offer more cosmetics, variety of killers to chose from (sort of like it was with saw and the pig) and I bet the licence is easier to get then the one from Scream.

And while we´re at it we might add a Scooby Doo chapter ^^

  • I wonder which point of yours I have proven. Maybe it´s just being awake since yesterday morning but I can´t wrap my head around it.

  • It´s my least favorite map by far.

I actually kinda like it theme-wise, but this is overshadowed by how unbalanced it is.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1638274#Comment_1638274

Well, I watch Umbra a lot recently and even if she loses as Huntress (aka not getting a 4K), she blames it on herself. And, I dont know how exactly the Map looked, but 4 Pallets in the middle is pretty decent, considering most of the time it has a max of 2 Pallets or is simply full of Tank Tracks.

And regarding Streamers opinions - I already said it in another post, Killer-biased Streamers are praised here. Like the complaints would perfectly fit to some man who gets posted here a lot.

    To your second paragraph:

Optimal SWFs are rare. And you would have the same behavior is those 4 players would not be in an SWF. Because someone does not suddenly know that they have to do Gens when not in Chase when they are not on Comms. And I dont play a Top Tier-Killer, most of the time I play Pig (which has a build-in Slowdown, to be fair). Would probably not work against some ultra-competitive Squad, but those are not common, so its fine for me. Its not as Killers have to only play Spirit or Nurse to have a chance in Red Ranks, because most Survivors are not good (same for Killers).

(And if I can be at Rank 1 every season, many more players will be able to do that, because I am not a good Killer)

The Tournament will not change my mind. I cannot take tournaments seriously in DBD, they are for showing off, but not any valuable since DBD Is not a tournament game at all, RNG is a huge factor. And I also dont like that this tournament is only used for one side, but it is ignored how scummy the Killers played, but this is apparently fine.

In the end, the discussion about SWF is pointless anyway. It will not go away. And it will always be used by bad Killers as an excuse why they lost.

Lmao imagine calling someone that plays well "scummy"

  • Survivors who do that just want excuses for their loss. It´s kinda like Killers who blame everything on Maps and SWF, same thing.

This is something that plagues dbd pretty badly. No one wants to admit when they messed up or didn´t play as well as they could have.

Don´t let it get to ya, they would have said it regardless of what you did.

  • I haven´t noticed tbh, and I play clown quite regularly.

  • I don´t know about the current situation with gens sounds, but before they were changed technician could actually be useful for tricking the Killer.

At the start of the match a Killer will try to patrol the map as efficiently as possible to find Survivors asap. This means they will approach certain gens that have bad LOS just until earshot range for repair noises. With technician you could throw them off and remain unnoticed.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

The saddest thing about this is when you get a toxic swf with OoO just trying to annoy you, so you play scummy and they rage post game like they’ve been treated unfairly, like you’re the toxic one. Its so frequent now but listening to Almo on stream (he thinks the perk is fine btw) they judge perks based on solos and SWF is the elephant in the room. Same for totems.

The only upside to OoO is when you hard tunnel them out especially as PyramidHead because you can see their aura in a cage and then they disconnect 🤣

How can anyone think this perk is fine? Especially someone who is supposedly knowledgeable about the game? #########?

Btw nice one, hadn´t thought of that feature with PH^^

Yeah I get new players looping a killer and feeling like they're esports but at 4000 hours like that twitch guy you would think they would understand the mechanics a little better.

Oh yeah for sure. It certainly feels great reaching a certain level of skill and suddenly being able to extend chases quite a lot when you start playing, but a 4000 hours streamer...absolutely agree, they should know better. What a douche.

  • @ringwinning said:

Same question honestly. I would have thought they would like it since it's a trade off right? Both can see each other's auras.

Sadly, this is wrong. The Object dictates whether the auras will be revealed, the Killer has no input on that.

Killers hate it for several reasons.

It gives constant information to the whole team (SWF) about who/where the Killer is, what the Killer is doing at all times. This can lead to games where every gen you approach is abandoned or at least the survivor has a 10-20 second headstart in chase. Move to the next gen, same thing.

On certain maps Object teams have to throw unbelievably hard to be in any danger, Midwich being the worst offender.

It works as a budget spine chill against undetectable Killers. Experienced survivors will be able to make a good guess whether the Killer is approaching them since the perk icon will still show you the approximate location of the Killer despite not revealing their aura. This is especially true for when none of their teammates are in chase.

If the Killer decides to go for the object, not only will the object know beforehand but usually be in a position where it is either easy to hide or disgustingly op tiles will be present.

Some people claim SWF could have a team member follow the Killer around to call out their actions, costing them 1 Survivor on gens.Object of Oppression removes the need to do so, everyone can work on gens and be safe at all times.

Certain Killers get completely destroyed (Trapper, Hag, Freddy, Myers to an extend) to a degree where it´s kinda pointless to continue playing.

Object widens the gap between solo and SWF since solos don´t profit that extremely from the perk.

Object has no downside. As stated before, the user can control whether they want to put themselves at risk. More often than not they will lurk in a safe position where if the Killer were to give chase the tile setup would lead to an auto loss for all Killers but Nurse.

I´ve played DBD for a long time but haven´t encountered an Object abuser that wouldn´t BM.

I´ve made a post on OoO and why it is too strong. Even some die hard Survivor mains admit it´s broken af in a SWF. It´s baffling to me why it´s still in the game. No perk a Killer could bring comes even remotely close to the power level of Object, apart from maybe NOED on the worlds best Nurses.

Other people but also me tried to get a member of the DEV team to give a statement on Object. They choose not to address the issue for whatever reason.

You may have guessed it but I hate it with a passion. I´m guilty of retaliating against Object users, sometimes by slugging them and camping them till they bleed out or DC. If I knew beforehand I´d bring a Mori every time someone equips Object ( I have stashed literally hundreds of ebony Moris across my Killers since I use them extremely rarely).

1 … 23 24 25 26 27 … 33
