Desperate Measures, Botany, We'll Make It, Self Care. Pretty solid healing build, even for yourself....and pretty fast, too...but eh, 4 perks just for healing?

Just run detectives hunch and inner strength lol. Detectives Hunch is ENDLESSLY valuable as survivor with Undying being a thing.

Expect a lot more Detectives and Inner Strength with the shifting Meta. I´m kinda happy though that totems actually become a thing now.

Shrine was for BBQ and Pop, grinded BP for Trapper's Brutal Strength and they kept swarming the hook whenever I hooked someone

I don´t blame you for using good perks. That would be kinda dumb imo. I´m only saying that what you posted there doesn´t align with what the title suggests, sorry if I offended you.

dont forget, math is hard. Especially if what a lot of what folks say is just a regurgitation of some strimmer

Yeah some people seem to have a hard time understanding this. It depends on the situation of course but there IS value in using self care if used right.

  • You just seem to lack experience as Killer. I´m sure if you stay dedicated to improving, you will!

Your experience as Survivor will be really helpful in the long run.

Your post there though....you pretty much outperked them, it doesn´t support your point well I´m afraid.

  • I think they´re perfectly fine and balanced tbh. The reasoning why they´re so frequently used boils down to the inability of the vast majority of available Killers to actually being able to contest gens and pressure the map.

Now if you take stronger Killers into consideration like say Nurse, Spirit or Freddy the strength of these perks rises. They are not as reliant on them as the other 16+ Killers but use them very well due to their innate ability to pressure the map.

Another aspect is the difference in effectiveness against Solo vs SWF, but I guess this isn´t exclusive to this topic.

If stall perks were to be nerfed any further the high rank meta would narrow down even more, since all Killers except three or four of them would be left without any tools to fight back against genspeeds.

  • To rank up you have to score accodringly in the 4 emblem systems. These are Gatekeeper - This emblem reflects your ability to protect generators and stall their completion. Devout - You earn points for Hooking and Killing Survivors, bleeding out on the ground doesn´t award any points. Malicious - Hitting Survivors and interrupting their actions, like catching them healing/repairing and forcing them away. Chaser - How well you do in chase. You are awarded points for finding and hitting survivors. The shorter the chase, the more points you get. You lose points in chaser for staying near a hooked survivor.

In order to rank up you have to reach a certain threshold in each respective category. It becomes harder to pip the higher your rank is.

To give you an example of how not to rank up despite getting a 4k : If you were to hook each survivor once and camp them till they die, you obviously would have very few chases and hits - low scoring in chaser. In this scenario the 3 survivors that aren´t getting camped are free to do gens - so bad gatekeeper. You also will have low Devout and Malicious, since you will only have gotten 4 hooks during the match and, again, very few hits and interactions.

The mindset required to pip can be summarised as: Interact, hit and stall as much as possible. Go for as many hooks/hits as you can while simultanously stalling the gens and their heals as long as you can.

I have Resilience too, so if I can 99 it, then I will. Also with the math provided by @Slashstreetboy above, I'm now technically faster with resilience!

My post "Confessions of a Self-Care User" cover why I personally use it, but basically it comes down to me not being able to rely on teammates.

I liked that post of yours, the title still makes me chuckle^^

  • I´d add certain old loop designs commonly found on other maps into the mix. Everything involving cars is usually braindead easy as Survivor and feels kinda dumb.

A game health chapter is every DBD players wet dream. I´m sure there are a lot of people who would even be willing to skip 2-3 chapters worth of content just for the game to get properly optimised and bug ridden.

We will never get it though. I can even understand BHVR, they want to push content to make more money. It´s a business after all.

  • Selfcaring takes exactly as much time if you view the survivors as a team. Either 2 Survivors are occupied 16 seconds each (=32 seconds) or 1 survivor is occupied for 32 seconds.

If you find someone to heal you faster than 16 seconds, go for it. If not, SC is actually faster.

    I don´t get the hate.

  • I don´t like it. It also comes off as shaming Killers for playing well. Slugging for pressure is a requirement against good survivors, especially since DS has to be expected on every survivor unless there´s no Obsession in the match. It also doesn´t have much merit in itself since many Survivors will accuse the Killer of camping/tunneling even if the Killer didn´t.

Mind you, apart from "facecamping" none of these are toxic or bad sportsmanship. People need to grow a pair like Paulie Esther.

  • It´s a decent combo that might not do anything at all. Way too op /s

No but seriously, if a Killer with good map pressure (like 3 or 4 out of 21) runs this it forces survivors to actually pay attention to totems.

Expect a nerf in the midchapter patch. Propably something along the lines of: "While we are mostly happy with how Undying pairs with other Hexes, it is overperforming when combined with ruin. We implemented a unique mechanic to prevent perk combos we deem too strong and unfun for the other side. We currently do not see the need to implement this for Survivor perks".

I pitty Survivor mains. If only there were tools to either help with or benefit from totems!

  • You´re beating a dead horse. If builds of those likes are equipped survivors suddenly have many more health states.

It´s a novelty to see Head on Marked as a 2nd chance perk though, never seen that before.

U were greatly outperked there, I hope you get the perks you want to actually use soon!

  • Every time I try to report a hacker I get an email, stating they won´t do anything if no video proof is provided. I don´t stream or record gameplay so I´m always shoot outta luck if I encounter a hacker.

I wish it was easier to detect hacks, or to report them, their system obviously fails miserably at it.

  • While the idea is neat, we´re still talking DBD. So much RNG in every aspect....

I´d be for it if it weren´t for newer players. They have weeks/months of getting slaughtered, moried, tbagged etc ahead of them.

If they would check and see they Killed 2 survivors in 10 matches for example, having this set in stone would be very disheartening I imagine.

Holy crap if this is for real....you got me hyped af right now!

  • I wish I had Survivors let me 4man slug them in 1 power use. I don´t come across teams that dumb often :(

No but seriously, Oni is the only Killer I always run it on, the rest is interchangeable. I don´t think the effect justifies a cooldown, but neither does surge for example. Sometimes the choice of what is slapped with a CD seems so random.

  • Note here that neither pips nor bp were a factor in deciding the winner - they used a system that awarded points for every gen completed, every escape, every hook and every sacrifice.

If you haven´t watched it, I recommend you do. Otz participated as Killer for the Gentleman team and it was overall very high skill gameplay, I enjoyed it a lot!

I have monitor, pop, ruin, bbq, brutal, agitation, distressing, nurses, thana and all the base perks and mikey's teachables

This is great! I run BBQ, Pop, Brutal and yeah, corrupt as my go-to basic myers build at red ranks. Maybe throw sloppy, monitor or STBFL on top of those. (STBFL can be a bit tricky on Myers, the idea is of course to preserve stacks by popping EW3 on the Obsession).

Edit: Or whispers, a perk I generally highly recommend on almost any Killer. Helps a lot in the early game, and decently throughout.

On the other hand, most of the good survivor perks come with free characters.

Meanwhile, to run a meta build as killer, I have to buy like 4 different dlcs.

^This. I´ve just read a post of a Killer struggling because it´s so tiresome for him to farm all the required DLCs to being able to play at a decent level.

And I´d argue that there were some great survivor perks in the latest couple DLCs. Soul guard will be SO GOOD with the shift in totem meta, so will Inner Strength.

  • A - I was a Myers main for a long time. Before the change last year, ruin was my go-to early stall. Since corrupt took it´s place...this is a tough one. I don´t know which DLC/Perks you have access to. Otz has a neat recommended Myers build (surveillance, surge, pop, corrupt). See a pattern? It´s all gen control. So until you have what you want, work with what you got. Maybe you have some of these available or some form of substitution.

I agree, Myers early game is the worst of any Killer. And you´re right, if you check the wrong gen at the start you can forget about the 4k unless you happen to be matched with very bad survivors. Rumor has it he´s on their list for upcoming changes, hopefully he won´t get Nurse´d or Billy´d, but recieve his much needed buffs. I recommend you adjust your expectations accordingly though, as of right now Myers unfortunately is way down there with the other really weak Killers. This sucks of course, I reckon you´re a huge fan too.

    B) For years DBD was (rightfully) notorious for being extremely unbalanced in favor of Survivors. I haven´t come across a game that gets even close to the level of imbalance from back then.

This has led to two things :

There is a certain number of oldschool survivor mains that became used to being able to beat every Killer effortlessly, every match. Now that DBD is moving towards better balance they feel robbed of their super easy, unfair experience and act as if they were entitled to still win every match with eyes blindfolded and using the keyboard only with their nose.

These times has also bred a certain number of hardcore Killer mains. They are wary of everything the DEVs do because they were humiliated and abused for YEARS. Some of those are out to avenge the Killers that had to suffer so much back then.

Some of them developed incredible skill, and now with improving balance often have a field day against most survivors.

Add an army of streamer-parotting mediocre casuals and you get what we have with the community discussions so often....makes you appreciate the cool and reasonable people of the community.

    C) Depends on whether you are willing to put the time and effort into making it work or if your life circumstances don´t allow it. It is rewarding having everything and having solid gameplay down, but it comes at a rather heavy time cost.

  • @Xbob42 said:

I dunno, but watching every single Pyramid Head get absolutely demolished, relentlessly, again and again in that Hexy tournament was something else. Honestly he should've traded shoes with the Clown after that display. You could clearly see just how much low mobility killers just get slapped down by good survivor teams. PH is good at shutting down chases, but in the 10 hours it takes him to cross the map, that doesn't add up to much outside of pub stomps.

Not that I think he shouldn't be changed or anything. Maybe "fix" his ability to cancel and make him run like 5% faster on his own trail of torment or something, with slightly increased turn-rate/charge time? Have the trail be bad for survivors and good for PH. I think using it as both an anti-loop technique but also trying to juggle that with map control/coverage could be more interesting than his current state, which is sadly tremendously boring.

Watch again, Otz managed to 4k HARD as PH.

  • If I could, I´d add a Friday the 13th Chapter. Chucky is great of course but Jason is a Legend.

Map : Camp Chrystal Lake. Tommy Jarvis as Survivor. Finally, the band has assembled.

The one chapter to prevent....I´d go with FNAF, Scooby Doo, or Predator (love the Predator Franchise but wouldn´t fit into DBD imo.)

    @Divine_Confetti What I wouldn't want added:

Same with me, no FNAF/Springtrap. There's a certain cheapness to that series that I just don't think belongs in DbD. It's basically creepypasta tier, but even then some creepypastas are more interesting and iconic. I don't want a Chuck-E-Cheese lookin' ass in DbD.

    ^ THIS!

  • I want Myers and Clown buffed ASAP but my money for the next change is on Huntress due to her being the last remaining Killer with irregular addon sets.

  • @D3spair said:

While other's point is that I run the Ruin + Undying combo, Survivors can just get a map or get Small Game/Detective's hunch to counter me, while a Killer What can I get to counter FOUR potential DS + Unbreakable combo? Should I just get a dang Mori every game to counter it then?

Yes, this is the actual only counter if all 4 run the combo + ehaustion perk + (PTS, SC, BT). Or become an 8k hours Nurse god.

  • @Nicholas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1628282#Comment_1628282

And how about the times when you do tunnel? Then what? DS is useless in this situation but oh right, the Survivor "wins" because you chose to hover over their dying body and then grab to hook again. These perks can be rendered useless by not engaging in certain behavior but fine do what you want and pay the price. If someone has allocated 50-75% or even 100% of their perks to help with these moments, good for them. It's always funny to me to see people complaining about a Survivor sided problem solely from the perspective of The Killer. I never run into problems with BT, DS, UB, SG because I don't camp, tunnel, slug, or hover.

That´s kinda neat, until you get matched with experienced players that are actually impossible to beat without slugging or patrolling. I think the complaints about the small pp build don´t stem from the lower brackets anyway, but when good Survivors use them. I don´t mean to insult you but recommend you check out high level gameplay to get a grasp of what I mean.

  • Dude DBD has never been more balanced than it is now. My qeues are near instant both as Killer and Survivor.

I admit we´re not quite there yet but the history of changes clearly shows they are working towards better balance.

  • While this comes off as an unreasonable rant it highlights the balance issue of SWF for the gazillionth time. It IS an issue if everyone here is convinced 95%+ of Killers would prefer fairer games and opt out of it.

I just hope they find a way to adress this properly, I haven´t seen a solution to it that doesn´t suck way too hard for the Survivors yet.

  • I think the actual completion speed is less of a problem than the Killers ability to contest gens. There´s less than a handful of the roster that can actually pressure gens without walking from gen to gen for 40+seconds.

This is why speed is brought up imo, as from the Killers POV it feels too fast.

The current gen-kick mechanic just isn´t worth it most of the time. What you stated is true, the 2,5 second kick can be undone faster than the eye can see, and for the regression to have any impact the gen has to be not touched for extended periods of time.

I´d suggest to double the regular kick regression to 50% of progression speed. With this, ruin would regress just as fast as regular repair speed. On top of that, gen-tapping should be adressed. I´m convinced anything less wouldn´t be impactful enough to justify putting ressources into changing it.

  • As someone who never played in a swf grp before, I can confirm....to a degree.

It seems you just had a bad streak. In my experience, the people I play with are usually decent enough. There are outliers of course, but they go both ways.

  • A good chunk of what the so called "rulebook" consists of wishful thinking formed into rules to deter Killers from playing better.

It has worked on a lot of people, including me. The most entitled, douchey troll survivor mains try to enforce them.

Of course they aren´t the majority of players but it seems a decent number of players will consider everything "tunneling", camping or toxic.

There´s certainly an equivalent among the Killer main community that consider looping and flashlights toxic...LMAO.

Paulie Esther has the best stance on that imo - whatever the game provides is fair game. He won´t go snowflake crybaby mode if he gets camped, "tunneled" or the Killer brings a strong addon.

If the tables were turned it would be so hillarious. Just like in Saminations vid, if there were rules the survivors had to play by, making their performance worse, the people suggesting it would be laughed at. Yet it seems acceptable to a lot of people to try and shame Killers into going "easy" on them despite the fact that all but a handful of Killers are fighting an uphill battle.

I´d have some for chuckles though:

    1) work on a generator a little bit but never tunnel it out of the game too quickly. Complete it halfway, then move across the map and halfway complete another generator.

    2) Don´t camp gens. If the Killer kicked it, let it fully regress, or Killers will flood the forums, begging for anti camping mechanics.

    3) never press the crouch button

    4) never bring items or strong perks

    5) never use x/y survivor model

    6) never play SWF

It´s total BS of course, just like any "rule" Survivors have for Killers. It isn´t the Killers job to provide an easy, fun match.

Mind you I very rarely "camp" or "tunnel", this helps not getting hit with DS. The only time I "facecamp" (since it doesn´t actually exist anymore) is once in a blue moon when I´m heavily under the influence and play Bubba. They often get their saves off anyway since I´m too busy laughing my hat off while standing there, intentionally very badly hidden behind a tree or bush with insidious.

  • The threads about Ormond come up frequently bc it´s by far the worst offender regarding imbalance favoring Survivors. It´s completely nuts, the map is huge, scratches are next to nonexistent and there are WAY too many safe pallets.

Next time you get ormond as survivor try the following: Throw every pallet immediately and force the Killer to break it (all but 1 possible pallet in the main building are 100% safe). Unless it´s nurse, spirit or hag, this approach will net you 3-4 gens worth of chase time without looping at all, 5 if your team doesn´t screw around.

Shelter Woods I agree would be the most Killer sided map in my experience. In comparion it still isn´t nearly as bad as Survivor as Ormond is for Killer.

  • DS isn´t even that great most of the time tbh. As survivor I get to use it rather rarely, and it´s even rarer for me to get hit by it as Killer.

As it stands now I think it´s mostly fine. The mechanic it provides is actually quite healthy for the game since it acts as a deterrant for the Killer not to "tunnel" too hard. Remember, Survivors wanna have fun too!

However, it becomes problematic if it´s stacked with Unbreakable and other so called "2nd chance perks". The synergy of the common survivor build is too strong imo, especially if several or all 4 survivors have those stacked.

    @PigMainClaudette said:

Well, now. If people cared less about "efficiency" or end screen result and cared more about the game, this wouldn't be an issue.

I know that I've also stated clearly that survivor and killer shouldn't be compared, but this one I cannot leave alone. Killers have access to Hex: Ruin, Pop Goes the Weasel, Thanataphobia, Sloppy Butcher, Surge and Dying Light. They all serve the purpose of SLOWING the survivor game. Survivors have Decisive Strike.

I wish more people came to this conclusion - you can´t really compare the roles, they´re so vastly different DBD is 2 games in 1.

  • I too often don´t capitalise on a potential snowball well enough. For example, if I have a guy on the hook, 1 slugged, 1 about to be downed, I usually allow the unhook of surivor 1 to keep the game going instead of ending it right there. Might be a habit taught by the emblem system, but it cost me many games.

  • It really depends on which Killers were meetin there. Can´t imagine Myers having a talk with the Legion for example, as in his eyes they´re just more teens to murder.

In any case I feel bad for any Killer that would anger the Oni.

  • Identifying the most favorable survivor to chase at the start is crucial - this comes with experience. This isn´t always possible of course, since you can´t exactly choose which survivor you stumble upon first.

The answer to a team of survivors all spreading out doing different gens is simple - take who you can, don´t expect to win, try to improve and pick up nurse if you want to beat smart teams.

  • The content creators I personally enjoy the most would be Otzdarva, Ohtofu, Paulie Esther, Monto and Scottjund. So my taste is quite broad, depends a lot on the content creator tbh. In general I prefer full games over montages though, or educational content like Otz´ addon/tierlist/perk videos.

  • Lessen the penalty while Stalking from range (not remove it, just lessen it), buff tier 1 by either more movement speed or some other form of utility (detection, stall, anything) and it should be fine.

  • Neat idea, and not excssive imo. I really hope they do something about it, it´s basically a 3v1 almost every match bc the first guy to get downed DCs so often it´s not funny anymore. I don´t want farm games every other match :(

  • Haven´t watched every match yet but ye, there´s truth to that. At least now everyone that´s interested in the topic can see that Spirit is not as op as some people make her out to be, at least not against good survivors.

To add to your point, it also implied that good survivors can´t be beaten by any Killer but a solid nurse, so there´s that.

Apart from that I really enjoyed watching it - very good teams, very well organised tournament..

  • It is competitive by design - two sides compete for the victory, with the survivors being able to still win individually if other parts of their side fails.

If it wasn´t competitive it would be a coop game with AI opponents, but it´s not, it´s PVP.

  • Practice, practice, practice, most notably when and where to use/bait shreds and how to make the most out of the portals.

Others have clarified already, but he´s among the approximately 15 not so good Killers, so bear that in mind while evaluating your match results.

And use Save the best for last ;-)

Well not any time. But the crime rate has increased significantly in the last 5 years, in all crimes. And I know you will laugh about this but I would feel a littel bit saver If I had one :(

Your Statement is factually wrong. Data provided by the BKA and the collective of LKAs proves that every genre of crime has steadily diminished over the years, except for political violence and crime involving conspiracy idiots.

It can be rough though, in my area casual violence is quite prevalent, as in fighting strangers on the street. I live in west germany.

What holds true though is that too many americans fetishise their boomsticks despite them being the cause for thousands of deaths every year. Without a doubt they do more harm than good, but try explaining this to a people that lives with gun violence on the regular. I mean, they need guns to protect themselves from the guns, right?

All this while the rest of the world is standing there, shaking their heads, wondering why their countrys are way safer than the US despite having little to no guns at all in the civilian sector.

  • I think it´s one of if not the cutest skin they made, I always feel bad for Killing them.

Their bouncing ears combined with fengs high pitched cute sounds make it well rounded and a lot of fun to see.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1622818#Comment_1622818

There absolutely is urgency to find this hex as survivor. They’ve only got to have 1 or 2 survivors go down prematurely in a chase because of a pallet that they couldn’t drop, and they most definitely go go looking for it so that future chases can be safer.

I wish I could´ve seen the "OH SHOOT" expression on their faces when they realised what was going on xD

  • Under these circumstances, they´d have a decently good chance of beating Pig, Legion, Ghostface, Bubba, Clown, Deathslinger and Billy.

They´d have a very slim chance of beating Trapper, Wraith, Huntress, Plague, Doctor

They can´t possibly beat Hag, Nurse, Spirit, Freddy, Oni, Myers, Pyramidhead and Demogorgon.

Obviously the gaps between each Killer´s power are very huge in some cases, even within "tiers". For example, Oni is so powerful he´s on a whole other level compared to the other Killers except maybe Freddy, but Demo and Myers would be just as unbeatable for them using only sticks and stones.

Evil Dead fan btw, but if we take Ash´s lore into consideration, we have to account for his opponent´s lore, too. Depending on the Version we´d have a literally unkillable Evil Incarnate Michael Myers for example. Against "magic tier" Killers like Nurse, Hag or PH sticks and stones won´t do much either.

  • If Survivors spread out at the start and play each of the 30 pallets safe, all but the very, VERY best players using the very best Killers will lose 90% of the time. It´s common knowledge by now and I feel bad for your experience.

In most cases there are things you can improve on though ( which in the highest tiers of play boils down to playing Nurse or Spirit, even given Spirit gets kicked the ######### out of her by good squads - see tournaments.). Just accept it´s not that balanced of a game and enjoy what you can.

  • Agreed, it´s an awesome chapter overall, especially the atmospheric design.

  • You should play tournaments man, maybe the Legacy team or the likes are just good enough to keep you awake a little longer :P
