  • I´ve made sveral posts regarding Object. I think it´s the most stupid, broken perk a Survivor can have, especially against Trapper ( main him).

Many people seem to agree that it´s too strong for it´s tiny drawback. Unfortunately we couldn´t get a DEV to give a statement regarding Object.

I understand your desire but I´m afraid Object won´t get changed anytime soon and certain Killers will have to suck up being called out 100% of the match to the whole team.

  • Exactly. Soloq is often times described as a miserable experience since they lack the level of coordination SWF gets. I´m aware this doesn´t align well with the intended core design of uncertainty, but as it turns out, most people play swf anyway.

Lessening the gap between solo and premade will ultimately lead to a more balanced game, I´m sure of it.

Because giving easy and strong intel at base-kit is a great idea for game health...

...c'mon, love. If you want solid intel, put the perk on. Everyone knows survivors do not need perks to play well. This would just make killers gameplay feel harsh - knowing that everyone is always seeing the direction they head in post-hook and also seeing where everyone is, making timing saves insanely easy.

I get where you´re coming from and I agree, but I´m convinced it´s a necessary step that the Killer side will have to deal with for the time being.

  • It can´t ever be truly balanced given the core game design and its asymetrical nature. All we can hope for is for the DEVs to take steps in the right direction.

I´m afraid phrasing it like that won´t net you more than a generic " This is something we bear in wind while further developing the game" kind of response though.

  • He´s the only License DBD still needs to have all the great icons. We need him so bad!

  • I took a break from playing Oni. Love the Killer but it cost me so many games not being able to use the Power it´s infuriating.

Don´t hold your breath on the fix, might take another year.

  • And Male Killers shouldn´t be able to harm Jane. Get down with the thiccness!

  • I´m with you on that, I always try to be as little biased as possible (Killer main) because I want the game to grow and improve.

Problem is there´s a lot of people that got burned by 5k hours ebony mori nurse/spirit or swf and can´t get over that.

A lot of the frustrations also stem from the fact that certain obvious issues haven´t gotten adressed for years. Idk I´d appreciate if the community was a little more reasonable and the DEVs would adress issues a little faster.

  • Maybe he could be balanced by adding...I don't know, a Cooldown to his power!? /s

  • The brown bag as basekit is the bare minimum of buffs trapper needs. As a Trapper Main I´d have some more ideas but this would be SO appreciated.

Tru3 isn't a bad player. The game is rigged to be hard against the killer. You're making the most minimal mistakes out to be day-1 noob mistakes. "Oh my God! Why would he ever do that?! He's practically giving survivors the win!" If killers playing suboptimal costs them the game, why is the same not true about survivors? And you don't seem to find anything wrong with how things are. The struggle between killer and survivor should be on a pretty level playing field, but that can't be the case when 12 hooks are needed within a 5-6 minute window. You are putting a lot of pressure on the killer player, don't you think?

I think Scott is one of those people who says they play on both sides just as an empty talking point, because in reality he is always taking the survivor's side. He still thinks killers like Spirit and Deathslinger have "no counterplay". Whereas Tru3 weighs the strength of both sides, saying that both basement Bubba *and* 5 minutes/5 gens are stupid. Spirit it strong *as well as* DS. And I didn't want to bring DBD celebrities into this, but you are the one who went there.

Actually, OP brought "Celebritys" into this. It´s just so tiring seeing a Tru3talent video every other week in which bad play on his side is shown and used as a proof for a percieved imblance. I recommend maybe opening up your views a bit and include more influences.

I take from your post that you´re fanboying hard so I don´t think we can have a fruitful conversation. Once you get more experienced I´m sure you will smirk regarding your then past views :)

And if you´re interested, I´m about 80/20 Killer main.

  • They are not immune to mistakes but they can screw up multiple times more than the Killer and still get away with it scott free. It´s what the game is designed around and if it wasn´t like that I´m afraid people wouldn´t wanna continue playing survivor.

And please be specific which issue you want to adress. There´s lots to choose from but simply stating "sUrvIrOr oP PlS nErF" won´t get you anywhere.

  • It´s either Oni or Freddy depending on the circumstance, then a looooong gap to whoever comes next. Bottom between Legion and Pig though :P

  • I think due to his low popularity and the DEVs being notorious for taking very, very long to adress things I wouldn´t hold my breath on the Clown buffs. I think they just don´t care enough to invest ressources into him.

  • Yeah thanks guys. I´ve been playing DBD for 2 years almost clocking at 1400hrs. No other map gives me that much headache or difficulties tracking. Guess I´ll suck it up and try to make the best of it.

  • In the past two years we had so many balance changes to make the game better. There are still issues but playing Killer is and propably always will be the more challenging and unforgiving role to play.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

The only Streamer whose videos are constantly used on this forum as "evidence" is not good. What are you talking about?

And well, playing Killer just got easier and easier...

    And:

"The problem is, BHVR won't balance the game around the potential that good survivors have, because most survivors simply are very bad. "

If the Survivors are very bad, why do Killers struggle that much? Because they are not as good as they think they are?

While I agree with most of your points I feel the need to point out that in the past DBD was so unbalanced that I have yet to encounter something that comes even close to how it was back then. You stating playing Killer just got easier and easier is of course true but it has the taste of downplaying the fact that Killer still is a lot more challenging than playing survivor by a large margin.

  • When clown came out I was still new to the game and I loved the idea behind his power. Unfortunately I have to agree with a lot of what you say though. He´s underwhelming in every aspect.

I still play him occasionally though (p3 50 all perks...) and if I get to verse a good team best I can hope for is a 2k unless I go all out ruthless. The salt you can farm with him is real - I imagine the particular brand of "Survivor Mains" feel so humiliated losing to clown, and rightfully so.

If you encounter more casual survivors though it can be lots of fun. Before the Killer lock was implemented I was fortunate enough to verse a full team of Dwelfs as Santa Clown, good times:)

Regaring your last paragraph: Let them spew their BS into the void, like when they claim they 4k 5gen 100% of the time at rank 1 with clown, no perks or addons and only using one hand while writing an essay about why Clown is the best Killer out there with the other one. They´re trolls or have issues that can´t be resolved here.

If you win, its because you fight bad survivors. Thats the truest statement ive heard about this game lol.

The depip squad proved this, even when the old ruin was far better than the current one. They managed to beat every single killer and they did all games perkless. I mean this game has got issues, massive gaping issues that are completely ignored.

He didnt play perfectly but the survivors didnt either and ultimately made more mistakes than him yet still WON.

You do realise that Marths Depip squad experiment was a long time ago right? In the meantime we had a truckload of changes to even the playing field. I admit we´re not quite there yet but the balance has changed so drastically the versions of now and back then are barely comparable anymore.

  • While it´s true that there are issues regarding Deathslingers Counterplay options it makes me chuckle so hard because in a lot of loops (car loops, Temple of Purgation loops, long wall jungle gyms) it´s the opposite for the majority of the Killer cast.

There is no possibility of outplaying, only hoping the other side messes up. Gives some Survivor mains a taste of how it often feels for M1 Killers.

ffs this is the third post about this video, so fine.

0-10s: Spends the first seconds of the match checking gens right next to him where it is impossible for survivors to spawn. Could have saved several seconds cutting away from this useless area.

23s: Swings at Sprint Burst. Common mistake, we all do it sometimes.

1:20: Doubles back too early giving the survivor a free fake.

1:38: Wastes a lot of time taking the survivor to the basement when there was a hook extremely close to the downed survivor. Does nothing with the basement pressure so its pure wasted time.

1:58: Extremely bad move. Goes to the edge of the map to kick a generator, leaving the entire rest of the map unpressured. The temptation to Pop generators ruins a lot of killer's momentum.

During this entire time, he has not left the vicinity of the shack for the entire match.

2:10-2:30: Just walks around the shack doing nothing.

2:34: Instead of the free down on Billy, he wastes his power on hitting a survivor with Borrowed Time.

2:52: Has more than half his power and chooses to pick up the survivor instead of doing the thing Oni does best - snowballing.

2:59: Again wastes more time putting a survivor in the basement to do nothing with it.

As of 3:30 he has still not left the vicinity of the shack for the entire match.

4th gen pops at 3:37 and he doesn't understand how only two hooks and staying in this same spot let this happen.

Thank you for your continued efforts to showcase how and why things happen on a rational basis - yet I´m afraid this guy´s followers

don´t appreciate when poor plays on his side get pointed out. My favorite streamer can´t possibly be a bad player now can he?

  • You can add Marth to Nurse ^^

  • Three gens done during/after your first chase is the standard scenario. It depends though...if the first survivor chased hasn´t reached a basic level of skill it´s possible that fewer gens get done. If the first survivor chased is good and you don´t realise that soon enough it could very well be more!

  • Went with trash because she´s so unbelievably miserable to play as. Adept Nurse and 500 Blinks are the last Killer achievements I need on steam but I can´t bring myself to play her.

  • I´d also love to have less trees in Lery´s or the Game.

  • You just got a douchebag Killer. I never play toxic unless I see a particurlar player in my lobby that I recognise...

Other than that I try to slug as few as possible, but as much as necessary. I don´t run NOED ( pretty useless perk anyway) or smol pp build. I do not BM and it has improved my overall experience with DBD, but that doesn´t mean there aren´t people out there that get off from their petty little actions.

  • @Siberia said:

Uh, you do realize that BOTH sides are always bitching about the other, right?

I´m sure he does, but mentioning that doesn´t contribute to the topic.

I agree with op though in the sense that I also see a trend of people complaining about exactly those Killers that have ways to circumvent the looping game and thereby lessening the survivors advantage in chase. I´m nowhere near a top survivor but give me a carloop with a long wall jungle gym and it´s gonna be a long chase if the Killers has to use basic M1 or a chainsaw :P

If a player achieves at least a rudimentary understanding of how to loop it´s pretty easy to run the Killer for a long time even if the Killer is far more experienced. I think the majority of people has caught on to that and are now used to the leaned-back playstyle that looping provides for survivors . Now they don´t wanna be forced to leave their comfort zone (which I think is kinda dumg, doesn´t it get boring?)

  • That´s some nice input but it will fall on deaf ears.

  • Get a friend to practice it in KYF. It´s actually really easy to break GF out if you know how to center your camera on him. It´s really, REALLY not that hard and I haven´t encountered any inconistencies with it whatsoever.

If GF got the jump on you though then you won´t have enough time before he exposes you while leaning. That´s just how it is, and it´s fine imo.

  • lmao your opinion is nottin I 4k every match at rank 1 with clown no perks no addons no matter what git gud ez

As I've said before, whether you want to or not your teammates may, despite their best knowledge provide Myers with Evil Within 3 and that'll be your problem, not only your problem but an essentially unavoidable down. There's literally no killer like that who gets a speed boost to actions OR movement, and insta-downs, for their basic attack weapon without NOED, and even further increase their lunge attack range significantly.

Survivors get punished for existing on the map, while a Killer gets rewarded for standing still and failing to give chase. It takes so little skill to stalk survivors, I often use the feature to help myself visually indicate survivors hidden or far away, and accidentally build Evil Within 3.

Nurse rewards a skillful use of her power immensely, while Myers rewards basic use of his power quite well.

At this point you´re either trolling or too inexperienced to realise how wrong you are. Your refusal to take valuable advice and education from more seasoned players leaves me no choice but to give you the ultimate advice that will solve not only your problems with Myers but with every Killer:

I'm pretty new, just started learning Michael Myers and I still use PWYF because I don't have that casual grace I've seen other Killers demonstrate with him. I still need the speed boosts. Then again, I also don't have all the Perks unlocked that people tell me are just great with him. I think I'm doing pretty well, and learning. My view is that Myers has a steep learning curve because of his vulnerability to loops and big maps. The margin for error is very small when it comes to finding the Survivors. I am enjoying him, and the game immensely. Thank you and your company for a wonderful escape.

If you´re pretty new it´s paramound unlocking some workable, good perks for Myers. Check Otz´videos on youtube for Builds and perks ;-)

Good choice when starting out with Killer btw. Myers is weak in chase so you are forced to learn good habits to combat looping which will come in handy later down the line.

Also a little disclaimer: Don´t get too upset from losses, not only is it normal when starting out and not having all the good perks unlocked, but also note that Myers isn´t exaclty one of the stronger Killers, so bear that in mind when assessing your matches.

  • I don't mind SWF too much unless they bring OoO.

I do think it has to be adressed though because the advantage they have is undeniable.

  • I love the game, the concept, the characters, even most of the gameplay. I don´t play all day everyday though.

In my opinion the passionate discussions about the issues the game suffers from contribute to a positive development.

I agree though that certain aspects ARE infuriating and I appreciate people campaigning for reasonable changes, be it Moris, SWF or Object of Obsession to name a few of the worst offenders.

It is currently disabled, but unlocking selection while queuing requires a client update to change. It needs to be left that way so it's ready as soon as the matchmaking system is re-enabled.

    Thank you, that makes sense.

  • @douggie123 said:

As a killer we can't play the game, we can't have fun anymore it's ridiculous 5 minutes in 5 gens pop. Survivors barrel out the exit and some even tebag and message gg ez. It's ridiculous what is the point in playing killer anymore. Apart from getting bullied by survivors and Genrushed. Ever since ruin got destroyed and other killer nerfs came out killer is unplayable. Survivors have all the fun and have no problems in escaping etc. Killers on the other hand get screwed. We have no control and we just keep getting nerfs. Devs what is going on with your game.

You seem really upset, but please also acknowledge that there have been several significant Survivor nerfs and general balance chances over the course of the last months/year.

People are right when they say Killer is easier than ever. Given the asymetrical nature of DBD I think we´re getting ever closer to a sweetspot in terms of balance. Doesn´t mean we´re quite there yet.

  • @Peanits said:

With the matchmaking rating system, each killer has its own independent rating. If you're amazing at Oni but suck at Nurse, the game gives you easier opponents when you play as Nurse so it's more fair. Meanwhile if you play Oni, it gives your tougher opponents. The reason why you're locked is to prevent someone from queuing as their bad killer (e.g. Nurse) and then switching to their good killer (e.g. Oni) to get easy opponents and play the killer they're really good at.

Survivors, on the other hand, are all the same. There is no gameplay difference between Ace and Jane. Perks are shared between all of them and they do not have a power. You're not suddenly going to be a much better survivor because you switched to Dwight. Therefore, you share one rating across all of your survivors.

I was under the impression the MMR system had been disabled for now? Did I miss the reimplementation?

  • I´ll go with Moris even as a Killer main. You can´t say they´re not imbalanced with a straight face and mean it.

Close second for SWF and Object of Obsession though.

    @Sheridan_LT said:

I'd say Spirit, but even Spirit requires SLIGHTLY more skil than Michael frickin' Myers. Michael needs a heavy not nerf, but rebalancing of his power so it requires any skill at all that a person with functioning eyesight, hand eye coordination and well, limbs, will be intimidated even slightly by.

Seriously, I get you´re frustrated but you´re in the 0,1% of people that think Myers is op. I´m tempted to give you the Doctors advice but I don´t wanna come off as a douche.

  • @rororoxor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1545058#Comment_1545058

I honestly think Myers should stalk at the same rate from any distance, doesn't make sense to get punished for stalking from far away as it takes more skill to do in most cases.

Given that Myers stalk is more impactful on the survivor team as a whole I´d suggest at least tuning the range penalty down significantly. Maybe removing it altogether would be a bit too much.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Plz no. It's already an uncommon perk and changing it will only force more survivors towards the dreaded Second Chance Build.

Stealth killera are also rather uncommon as is, so there isn't a huge amount of Spine Chill going around.

Respectfully disagree. It´s rather rare to have matches in which not at least one survivor uses it in my experience, but maybe that´s just Europe red ranks in the evening.

  • Since I use Myers and GF a lot I´m all for an adjustment of Spince Chill since their stalking mechanics don´t allow them to effectively circumvent it, hence giving them no counterplay against a perk that is really beneficial without requiring any effort whatsoever.

A range reduction might help Ghostface, but Myers would have to stalk for like 16 seconds to tier up from that range and remain unseen for that period of time on top of that.

This is a feedback forum where we discuss ideas and give feedback, regardless of Developer intentions. Hence your attempt to refute my suggestion based on the status-quo is quite an interesting tight rope to walk in a place that is fundamentally built on the assumption that the Developer isn't perfect and things can always be better.

Somehow just playing Pig competently has netted me results that also happen to avoid these perks and still do well.

I also prefer the HUNT of playing killer over the kill, so I've never been concerned over "efficiency".

Even if there isn't an obsession, I don't tunnel for two reasons. I've BEEN that survivor, so I hate to see it and do it, plus it's also just good practice.

Well by efficient I mean "good" as in making the right decisions. If a survivor gets unhooked in your face the natural thing would be to smack them right back down as they are vulnerable and there won´t be the need to play loops (which sometimes aren´t really interactive, like the car loops on autohavens, haddonfield and springwood). Given the right perks they have a 3 to 4 layer perk defense at that moment so it forces the Killer to make the bad call and chase the healthy survivor.

I also love to hunt but I kinda dislike being forced into playing intentionally worse just to play around their perks, which I feel is currently more of a one-way street unless the Killer uses NOED.

  • @ChirpingCat said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1543374#Comment_1543374

Be careful what you wish for:

If SWF were relegated to custom games, a wave of near universal killer nerfs and survivor buffs would soon follow... probably targeting reducing he killer's ability to find survivors, track survivors and the gen progression of survivors.

Killer-mains seem to cut the argument both ways: They despise SWF as cheating and easy wins, they say that SWF results in unwinnable game, but then fail to concede that SWF wins are contributing to the statistical balance data being used to balance the game. If you remove SWF, you remove a key pillar that props up the survivor's overall win percentage to justify all these recent killer buffs.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1542975#Comment_1542975

Survivors don't get to adjust their Survivor choice based upon knowledge or rank of the Killer, so why should the Killer be able to customize their killer selection based upon information in the pre-game lobby?

Well first off it doesn´t really matter which survivor skin you use if you have the perks on them that you want. And secondly it was specifically designed as such. Survivors get the oppurtunity to exchange useful information and plans while the Killer is granted the chance to adjust the loadout if needed.

Honestly I don´t even think that´s unfair even when I play survivor. Your opinion may differ but in the end it´s the way the devs intended it to be at the core of their lobby design.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1544939#Comment_1544939

yes sadly that will always be the case :( but I do get tired of people generalizing SWF groups.

It really IS tiring. Although SWF brings issues that objectively need to be addressed there´s no way they´re all toxic douches that are out to bully the Killers.

Those who do make the others look bad though because they tend to be remembered.

  • Agreed. GF and Oni are part of my standard roster, I wish the ultra rares were better. I´m sure many people would love to see their main´s addons lifted up if needed.

  • Wholeheartedly agree. I´d like to add that some of these "toxic" groups sometimes just act cocky to have fun. I had it happen SO often that after I beat them or the match was at least really entertaining that light smacktalk can be hell of a lot more fun than getting butthurt.

Depends though, the true toxic groups (they DO exist) will do everything they can to humiliate the Killer and ruin his experience.

  • It seems you were recently burned by Spirits. I know it sucks and I´m also in favor of adjustments to get her more in line with the other Killers, but what you suggest here would be way overkill imo.

  • I also realised that the ever so prevalent threat of DS/UB made me adapt to a certain playstyle. I get DS´ed pretty rarely because of that.

The downside is that it forces an unefficient playstyle on the Killers end. So best one can do to avoid an avalanche of 2nd chance perks beating you home is to be efficiently inefficient, if that makes sense.

I´d like to see some downsides to stacking 2nd chance perks though. I´m nowhere near a top level survivor yet I´ve beaten so many Killers just because I had busted perks on.

To satisfy the whataboutism of some people: I had similar stuff happen back in the day when I occasionally ran NOED. I got a down or two per match that I didn´t exactly deserve (could be argued that they could have easily done bones though cuz I wasn´t that great in 2018).

1 … 27 28 29 30 31 … 33
