This is also happening to me on PS5
-
Noticed this today as well. Also on PS5.
I can't offer much help other than file a bug report.
-
FYI - for the tome challenge you will get credit toward the challenge even if another player is running the perk and blinds the killer. An overzealous Leon got it for me earlier today within 60 seconds of the match starting. I hadn't even encountered the killer yet.
This may be a bug, but it should be helpful to some (unless it was a bug that's not consistent)
-
Isn't Plague a sort of mummy character already? Some skins even have bandages iirc.
-
I like it. Could also be a boon instead of having the time limit. Survivors within 24m of the boon have their auras duplicated.
This would go well with a stage magician character.
-
There is only one event item this time, so it wouldn't be much of a mystery.

Just curious about this.
Ive seen a lot of people saying that throwing snowballs on either side is "toxic" and I literally dont understand why.
BHVR made the snowballs to be thrown at players, so I dont see the point in being upset when people do it since it's literally intended to be used that way.
I dont know what they expect me to use the snowball for other than throwing them at players, do you want me to throw them at pallets or windows? Throw them into the void? Do nothing but break snowmen (rip snowmen D: )?
Just idk.
I don't find the snowballs toxic, even when I'm on the hook and the killer is pelting me with them.
But to answer your question about what else can you do with them, breaking snowmen with them gets you 500-750 BP depending on if it's a decoy or not. That's what I've been using them for.
-
I think the one you are referring to is the login reward from Dec. 22nd. Logging in between the 22nd and the 4th gets you that one.
-
I don't think skill checks are meant to be difficult. I think it's intended for most players to make good skill checks 99% of the time.
I think the real purpose is to draw your attention away from the rest of the game for a second or two. I'm constantly moving the camera and watching for the killer while repairing, but a skill check at the wrong moment could distract me enough for the killer to get the upper hand.

Straight up I'd use Ripley more if I could have long haired warrant officer Ripley with her back in action out of uniform shirt and weyland stompers.
Plz BHVR... unlock Ripley head pieces in the equip menu :(
Sorry to be off topic but I agree with this. I mentioned it twice in the satisfaction survey. Even if they must be sold as full sets I want the option to mix and match wherever possible.
And as far as licenses go, I have to imagine that only the most stubborn of license holders wouldn't concede to the mixing of cosmetics, again, if they were still sold as complete sets.

I like throwing snowballs at killers, even though they keep just killing me :(
The only thing I really don't like is that throwing a snowball and pallots/windows/lockers is the same button so I keep wanting to throw snowballs at people but end up slamming a pallet/vaulting a window/getting into a locker instead
The first event match I played tonight was against a Chucky. He downed someone and I ran up to him and threw a snowball right in his face and ran away.
I was laughing hysterically when he started chasing me.

If matchmaking and match loading was faster I'd say 8-10 minutes.
Ideally for me it wouldn't be more than 15 total minutes from the start of one match to the start of the next, including matchmaking and loading times.
-
A banner or badge to show characters we brought to P3 before the prestige rework.
-
carrying an item of ultra rare quality
-
I play on PS5 and don't really notice a loading time issue. Logging in might take up to a minute, as does loading into a trial. Other than that things are more or less instant for me.
Matchmaking can take some time, and the lobby too, especially if other players back out or don't press 'ready' but neither can really be blamed on load times.
-
I can't say for certain but I believe the upgrade to the ps5 version is free if you own the digital ps4 version.
Maybe someone who is sure can verify.
-
I don't know about achievements but it counts as an escape for tome challenges.
Just today I was doing an early challenge where you have to escape with 0 totems left. The killer dc'd as soon as the last gen popped (luckily all the totems were cleansed) and the challenge registered as complete.
-
It can't be synced with steam but if you have it on PSN don't you already have it on ps4?
-
There was a time when you needed 800 xp for each rift fragment rather than the current 500. I found it a lot harder to complete the rift in those days.
Could that be what you are thinking of?

I only released one and Mikela ran into it which made it go away. But as soon as Ada was hooked and screamed, I got it. Very weird. The killer was not near where it was anyway as I could see her aura with Kindred.
I don't know that it has to be a haunt that you personally released. Obviously it does if you're killer, but if you're playing survivor and the killer runs into a haunt freed by another survivor it might count.
Seems weird to have a challenge that you can complete without actually doing anything but it would explain your situation and it might not be intentional.
-
My first game I was playing as Hillbilly. His gen kick animation is two kicks but you have to hold the button for a half second or so after the second kick to start the regression.
I didn't know how gen kicking or gen regression actually worked so I would stand there kicking the same generator over and over and over for like 30 seconds thinking I was regressing it little by little.
Survivors would just stand there and stare at me while I did it, clearly confused.
-
I think every time a new or reworked map is released they disable the map repeat prevention for a time.
-
Not sure what platform you are talking about, but the two Playstation platforms count hours separately but use the same account. Someone could have a few thousand hours on PS4 then switch to PS5 and have essentially 0 hours with all the perks and prestige from their PS4 time.

title.
We have several weapons in this game... knives, swords, bone saw, axe, throwing knives, cane, sickle, whatever freddy's glove classifies as, chainsaw, hunting knife, a very sharp tail, projectile vomit, objects like a ruler used as a knife, hammers, kanabo, tentacle, chef's knife, straight up just hands, harpoon gun...
but what weapon would you like to see in the game?
there's 2 that I always wanted. a pickaxe and a scythe.
a pickaxe is cool. And a miner for a killer is a somewhat unique visual (gas mask trapper is my favorite skin on him... shame it doesn't come with a pickaxe)
and a scythe is the weapon of lady death herself. the reaper of souls... it's way too good of a visual to not have a killer use one.
I know we kinda do have scythes for singularity and dredge. if we squint a bit... or a lot.
does not really work for hux... at least for me.
but... it does work for dredge. since much like death, she is also just a concept. not an actual being, just a manifestation of a force of nature of some kind. (obligatory "Dredge is so ######### cool" moment)
still, I want a proper scythe. We can give it to a potential scarecrow killer for example.
tl dr: I think a pickaxe and scythe are cool weapons and should be in the game. what about you?
Doesn't Hillbilly already have a pickaxe?
-
I think you can put the mirror down, can't you? I seem to remember putting it down to use a medkit then picking it back up.
I don't swear by it though.
-
I'm not so sure about J, but I think the killer might be his son.
Next killer: J's son

It does say "Great Height" tractors/hills etc don't count
2nd story buildings and drops always do
I got at least one of the Coldwind tractors to count. I vaulted off the side where you fall directly off instead of the side with the hay bales and it counted.

If I recall there were a lot of people having difficulty with this one because they weren't letting the pointing animation fully complete before moving. It looks like the survivor is done pointing but if you move even a fraction of a second too early it does not register the point action. Try holding still a little longer than you think you should and see if that works.

I said earlier I was afraid to try this one but it isn't bad at all. I got it on my first try (map was Midwich, which helped a lot) and I didn't have to do anything special.
The two things that will make or break this one are map and killer. A small map and a non-stealth killer should make this pretty easy.
-
This is the only one I have left. I'm afraid to try it.
To be fair though, I think the Dwight challenge OP refers to wasn't just in the terror radius but some insanely small distance from the killer (like 10 meters or something)

This has been before that, but I did notice he has a couple that cause screaming. That should make for even more annoyance. I will live. I will keep playing this game because it's fun otherwise. There is something about constant survivor screaming that is just annoying to me. I don't even know what it is.
It could also be that hex perk that makes you randomly scream when not in the killer's terror radius. Today I played against a Sadako who was running that. It was super annoying.
-
I don't know about too strong, but Pinhead is definitely the most annoying killer for me.
I'd rather face a good Blight or Nurse than the Cenobite.
-
Hag is rare enough that the one and only time I encountered her recently I saw her running at me and said out loud and with zero irony, "WHAT THE #### IS THAT!?"
-
I'm guessing between 600 and 800 total between both roles.
I made sure to get at least 1 on every character though.
-
I believe wiggling is only necessary to keep the killer from carrying a survivor indefinitely or as @Pulsar said, to prevent survivors from getting hooked in the basement every down.
Wiggle escapes should be all but impossible if the killer goes for the nearest hook.

at the scorebord you get this reading, in the tome it's 3/3. no idea if its still contributing or a visual bug
Interesting. I did play another match with the challenge selected and saw 4/3 at the end of the trial. It would be nice to get clarification as to whether or not it's counting toward overall progress. I've already finished all the anniversary survivor challenges and will gladly leave the community challenge selected if it will help reach the goal.

I’m like 15/3 at this moment
Is your progress showing 15/3 ? I am at 3/3 and I just selected the challenge and played another game. I got gold in Lightbringer and it still shows 3/3.
-
The description is wrong. You have to activate an invitation effect 3 times in a single trial.

Unless they changed it, no. I remember the confusion over this last time and the devs made it clear that once you contribute and complete the challenge it stops your contribution.
I remember this too. I think it was during the Halloween community challenges. It was clarified that each player can only contribute their maximum personal progress. It might be different now. It would be nice to know for sure.
-
I'm assuming the description is incorrect and should read activate an invitation effect 3 times in one trial.
Also, as mentioned, the endure any stun effect for killer doesn't count unless you actually get stunned. It might be the same for the create a pallet effect for survivor but I'm not positive.
Easiest way is to play killer and use the invitation to break stuff.
-
I play on Playstation as well. I turned off messages and take full advantage of anonymous mode. Part of me misses when I would get the occasional positive interaction (well played, GGs, thanks for the rescue, etc.) but it's not worth the overwhelming negativity.

The description is wrong.
You have to do it 3 times in the same match. Like as survivor block a window and create 2 pallets.
Can confirm this as well. It appears the challenge isn't bugged so much as the description is incorrect. Probably easiest to do as killer breaking pallets and breakable walls 3 times.
-
I do each community challenge as soon as it's available. We won't let you down!

Didn't they say once that considering the main killer has to be somewhat tall for balance and animations purposes, Child's Play couldn't be a part of DbD ?
(Not 100% sure, but it's definitely something I've heard before)
Recently they said (I think it might have been the Q&A) that there were some restrictions in place years ago that have been relaxed since their development team has expanded.
So even if this was the case several years ago it's not necessarily the case now.

It's like @LapisInfernalis said. Based on the first screenshots by @Digfish it looks like the bonuses from the cakes and role incentive only apply to base bloodpoints earned in the 4 categories and not any additional BP from other things (anniversary events, glyphs, etc.)
Here's the breakdown:
6,049+7,200+500+2,724=16,473 (bloodpoints from the 4 base categories)
16,473 * 6.85 = 112,840 (6.85 multiplier: 1+1.07+1.07+1.07+1.07+1.07+0.50)
27,573 - 16,473 = 11,100 (additional BP earned over the 4 base categories)
112,840 + 11,100 = 123,940

I was playing for several hours this morning before I noticed I had 0 auric cells (should have had over 10000). I started to panic and was going to contact customer support, then it occurred to me to restart the game. Once I did that my cells were back.
I don't know if the fix will be that easy for everyone but it is worth a try.
-
I love my PS5 and DbD plays very well on it. I remember the pain of playing on PS4 (the games after the first Resident Evil chapter were like slideshows) and highly recommend the upgrade if you want to keep your DLC and cosmetics.

Actually, now that I think of it again. It HAS to count even after you've finished your portion. So my only question is do you need to keep the challenge active for your chases to count? It does track past 180 and everything.
There is no way you can only provide 180 and then you're done impacting the overall goal. The number is 62 million chase seconds. If each player could only add 180 that would mean this challenge would take like 344 THOUSAND plus players completing it. IIRC the most players EVER on the game at once was like 50k? It'd take weeks to finish let alone the 2 days it appears we are on target for.
I believe the number you are referring to is for Steam only and is the number of players playing at any one time.
Across all platforms there are hundreds of thousands of players daily.

In most games I try to get 8 hooks before anyone dies. After hooking I leave the area to give ample opportunity for rescue. If I haven't found someone else when I get the unhook notification then I'll head back in that direction. I don't go out of my way to avoid hooking the same person twice in a row unless I haven't already hooked everyone twice.
After 8 hooks I will either go for kills or let everyone go. If I perceive anyone as acting cocky I will almost definitely hook them a third time. If I decide to try for kills I won't slug for a 4k unless I'm doing a tome challenge.
Since I go out of my way not to camp hooked survivors I get very upset when someone is left to die on hook (unless they clearly sped up the process) and in that situation I will go for 4 kills.
