  • Survivor Perk: Magician's Assistant

Years of training in the art of stage illusion allows you to hide in plain sight, even in small spaces

Each time the killer opens an empty locker, gain a token up to a maximum of 1/2/3 tokens. When the killer opens a locker you are hiding in, consume one token. The locker will appear empty to the killer when a token is consumed.

    "Nothing up my sleeve"

  • I am looking forward to this as well. I play on playstation and I fear for my x button.

Anybody know if a similar change is in the works for wiggling? I fear for my left joystick as well.

  • I'm on PS4 so I don't get the benefit of endgame chat, but someone went out of their way to message me "camping tunneling trash" after I played a match as Demogorgon (trying to get the daily) in which I only got a single hook all game and the survivor was rescued within seconds.

I'm a 43 year old father. we're not that far apart, lol.

p.s. my wife reminded me to add "Happily Married" to this comment . . . lol

I'm also a 43 year old father! When I play I always assume the rest of the players are teenagers/20-somethings, but it's good to know there's other middle agers playing. Next time Leatherface is chainsawing me I'm going to wonder if maybe it's a soccer mom or somebody's grampa.

  • There needs to be an overhaul of the rift grind.

With the current rift (and I'm assuming the previous rifts as well) the challenges alone provide less than half the fragments required to get to level 70. If you completed every challenge in this rift, you would earn 344 fragments when 700 are needed to get to the end.

XP also earns fragments of course, but at 800 XP per fragment and lets say 550 average XP per game, you need to play over 500 matches (I didn't include the extra 600 XP each day if you play at least one killer match and one survivor match, so I guess that helps).

But that comes out to an average of 7-8 matches EVERY DAY for 70 days. Some people might have time for that, but I can't imagine many do. I'm lucky to squeeze in 2 or 3 matches on weekdays and maybe a couple dozen over the weekend.

  • I can confirm that it does register when the killer drops the survivor voluntarily because that's how I ended up getting it. Others have said that it works when the survivor wiggles free.

Just to make sure, did you have Breakout equipped? I know in the past I've been so focused on doing whatever the challenge says that I forget to actually equip the required perk.

  • Like others have said, definitely not worth it if you are in a chase or even hunting someone you think might be nearby. If you are just patrolling, might be worth a kick.

After kicking a seemingly abandoned gen, try walking off a bit then looking back at it. Sometimes survivors can't resist stopping the regression and will come out of hiding sooner than if you hadn't kicked it.

I'm about to try your build! I added Premonition to help with noticing the Killer...I hope I survive!

Nice! Thanks for humoring me. Premonition sounds like a good fourth perk. Anything that helps you keep away from the killer. Too bad you didn't survive.

  • I tried it out once with Resilience and This Is Not Happening, which gave 9% boost to repairing speed (also healing and unhooking) and 30% larger great skill check zones right from the beginning of the match since you start out injured. It just requires hiding from the killer at all costs.

I admit it probably wouldn't work well against killers that are very good or experienced, but the one and only time I tried it I was able to escape (I don't remember how many others made it out). I was also probably in yellow ranks at the time, so the killer was probably mediocre or even just starting out.

The hotel from the Shining would be an awesome map, no doubt! I don't know that Jack would be a really exciting killer to play though, he's basically just a guy with an axe.

The other killers you listed would all be great too, assuming they could get them. (I don't think they'll be getting Jason any time soon, unfortunately, he's already in the Friday the 13th game and I vaguely remember hearing he's in licensing hell.) Hannibal Lecter is the only one on that list that I'm not sure mechanically what they would do to spice him up. He's mainly a cerebral character, not really a "chase them down in the middle of the woods" type.

True, Lecter's not really a chase them down type, but imagine a power like after downing a survivor he could "take their face" and essentially become them. He would look and move just like the survivor he downed/hooked. Lecter would be revealed if he made an attack or if the survivor whose face he stole was unhooked or healed by another survivor.

It might be hard to justify a person having their face skin cut off then getting it back with no explanation, but we are talking about a game where someone can hang from a meathook through their torso and be fine after 15 seconds of applying bandaids. I'm not sure realism is a major concern.

  • As a survivor I don't mind when I come across a killer just standing in one spot swinging his weapon. I farm my points and then I'm on my way.

As a killer I only really did it once for the recent hillbilly challenge to down 4 survivors in one trial. I suck with the chainsaw sprint so I just walked around revving and not chasing anyone. Whenever someone got curious and approached me I downed them and walked away so they could be healed. Thankfully I was able to down 4 before they all got away.

I've never intentionally fake farmed, though one time I had an IRL issue just as the match was starting so I was AFK for a few minutes. When I came back a couple survivors were just dancing around me. They probably weren't too happy when I actually started playing, but I think they all got away anyway because by then the gens we're pretty much completed.

    Survivor - Jeff Goldblum

Killer - Alien or Alan Grant 😅

I've always thought a Jurassic Park chapter would be interesting. Ian Malcolm as survivor with a velociraptor as killer. The velociraptor could pick up the survivor in its mouth rather than carrying them on its shoulders.

Would love to see Chucky but probably won't happen because of size.

Would love to see Jason but probably won't happen because of licensing.

They aren't so well known these days, but I've mentioned Hannibal Lecter and Annie Wilkes as killers, with their respective survivors Clarice Starling and Paul Sheldon. Probably a lot of licensing issues with them as well.

    fair point.

though in red ranks people should know how each Killer works, especially when its such a popular Killer like the Spirit.

the first thing I do when a new Killer drops is that i go and read through their powers description to understand what they are doing - then I eigther play them myself or watch others play them to get a grip of how the Killer works ingame.

I agree with that. I don't know how you could get to red ranks never having encountered a spirit player.

  • @Mister_xD said:

got called a "lagswitcher" once, because the survivors had no idea how Spirit works (i kept "teleporting around the map" and "lagging out while walking" - red ranks btw)...

yeah some people really need to take some time and play killer every now and then xD

To be fair, playing spirit wouldn't help you to understand how the passive phasing looks. I played as spirit a lot before actually playing against her and realizing how she looks when she moves. No excuse for not knowing how her basic power works, though.

  • That happened to me once a day or so ago. Didn't seem to affect anything, though.

  • This morning I played about 6 games to finish this challenge (up to that point, I'd played about 10 games and only had a little over 3000 toward the challenge). I didn't take any perks or offerings that give bonus bloodpoints and that seemed to make things better but I still don't think I was getting the full amount. I finally got all 20,000 bloodpoints in the deviousness category. This happened about 30 minutes later.

    Oh well.

  • Having the same issue. It only happened to me once while doing the 'earn 20,000 bp in the objectives category' but twice in a row now on the deviousness one. I had well over 3000 already before playing a match as the spirit. Deviousness score was 7955, received under 100 toward the challenge.

    IMG_20201025_073501740_2.jpg

Next match as trapper got me 16 toward the challenge despite earning 6739 in deviousness.

  • I apologize for my ignorance. I only started playing halfway through the last tome, so this is the first time I've experienced the start of a tome, so I'm about to ask what might be a stupid question.

What exactly is meant by saving bloodpoints? Don't the challenges award bloodpoints? I feel like I'm misunderstanding something.

    Thanks!

  • I love this game. I had my eye on it for awhile and finally decided to buy a copy for PS4. I bought the Nightmare Edition to get Stranger Things, Curtain Call, and Shattered Bloodlines. After playing as much as possible for a week, I bought most of the rest of the DLC (I'm only missing Nightmare on Elm Street, Silent Hill, Descend Beyond, and Ash). I dove into Tome 4 (bought the premium track) and got about halfway through the track despite only starting to play the game with a month left in the rift. I was really looking forward to Tome 5.

This morning I downloaded the update and played my first game of the day as survivor. The game stuttered and paused frequently. I thought maybe my internet connection was weak. After checking to make sure my connection was good, I played my second game, this time as killer. Parts of the match were nothing more than a slideshow. I was miraculously able to hook a couple of survivors, but missed many opportunities to get more hits and hooks because of the horrible framerates. Needless to say I did not have fun with the game this morning.

I really hope this issue is fixed soon. I can't say I never had any problems with framerate drops before the update, but they were only minor annoyances. What I experienced today was extremely close to an unplayable game.

I still love the game. I hope to actually be able to play it again soon.

  • I can't believe how bad it is. I just played 2 matches. My survivor match was bad (missed about half the skill checks because of the terrible frame rate). My killer match was way worse. It was a stuttering mess. I hope this can be fixed soon.

  • I've seen a lot of call for Pennywise, but are there any Stephen King fans who want to see a Misery chapter with Annie Wilkes as killer and Paul Sheldon as survivor? (definite perk name for Annie would be "#1 Fan")

I'd also kind of like a Silence of the Lambs chapter with Hanibal Lecter as killer and Clarice Starling as survivor. (definite perk name for Lecter would be "Quid Pro Quo")

Maybe I'm showing my age with these two, but they might be fun.
