Why i created this topic? There is a streamer, called Hexy. He is a big one, so you won't miss. His favorite build is BBQ, Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer and he literally can't lose a single game. I can't see anything extraordinary in his gameplay, apart of his aggressive playstyle from the start of any game. But he literally can't lose a single game. He doesn't even play strong killers like Nurse or Spirit.
People say that this game is survivor sided, but this one says otherwise, so i don't know what to think. Can it be that he is just that good at this game. Or survivors he face are all trash. Maybe its just an american region that is full of casual console survivors that don't know how to play this game. All games are way too easy for him. Most survivor teams can't repair more than 2 generators.
Enlight me please! Am i missing something?
First off, the game is not survivor-sided.
The game is skill-sided. The one who is more skilled wins. Some luck factors in but in general a person with good intuition and skills will win. It is actually easier for killer because a killer relies on nobody but himself. Whereas survivors have to rely on their teammates. That's one of the reasons why SWF is so powerful; it gives you control over your teammates (who you play with) so that you can be sure you have a strong team.
At the highest levels I am not sure who is more powerful: the god killers or the commando squads. The likely truth is that whoever played better and had some luck on their side wins. But the point is the game is not survivor-sided any more than it is killer-sided.
Now, this person you are talking about. There is no such thing as an unbeatable person. He simply has not gone up against people who are better than him. If am sure there is a team out there that is better and can beat him. He simply hasn't gone up against them yet.
But it is a fact that BBQ, Ruin, Tinker, Undying is an extremely powerful build. Those are four of the strongest perks in the entire game. No matter how much some people try to downplay and make light of these perks, they are strong perks and together they synergize and are even stronger. So it is no surprise that he can steamroll all the teams he goes against. He's using a super powerful meta build. Doesn't matter which killer you use that build is powerful.
People like to pretend that Ruin is a weak perk but it really, really isn't. If you can't get Ruin down in a minute against a competent killer you will have problems. Against a good killer player it is a death sentence 100% of the time. Undying makes it highly unlikely that you will bust the Ruin in a minute. Or even two minutes. At that point it is your loss.

LOL.
"Social contract".
It may sound like pedantic rambling to you, but the truth is living in society has meaning. People do not live in a vacuum. It is certainly possible to withdraw into your privacy, and everyone does that. But playing online games by its existential nature is a social act, and is governed by social expectations and consequences.
In other words online gaming doesn't work if people just log in and AFK, anymore than the NBA could work if all the players just came in to collect their fat milliondollar paychecks to stand on court and do nothing.

I get you can use them to your advantage (ie. trapping survivors by only breaking one of the walls in the bathroom ramp of Midwich) but it's hardly a strategy when you take in consideration gen speeds, chase time, meta perk builds and SWFs. I shouldn't have to use a perk slot for Corrupt to counter all them damn walls amongst everything else on a killers plate.
It's like you want every map to be Shelter Woods. God forbid survivors have things on the map to give them a chance to survive.
-
@Kill_Yr_Idol83 said:
Why spend all that time a couple years ago reworking maps to eliminate infinite/god loops, only to incorporate them back into the game with breakable walls? It was one thing having them in Dead Dawg Saloon but adding an abundance of breakable walls to all the new and reworked maps is getting out of hand. It's doing nothing but discouraging people from playing killer by having an extra objective that further slows one down and gives SWFs yet another upper hand.
Breakable walls aren't god loops. They are a one time obstacle you break once and you're done.
Also they put the power and decision of choice in the killer's hands. You can break it whenever you please, unlike palettes which are controlled by survivors. You should be happy that the design is making use of walls instead of palettes. You can break the wall before chase even begins.
Of all the things to complain about you have to complain about breakable walls. There are some rooms that become deathtraps because of breakable walls, like that one room in Midwich. All the power is with you. You can deny the loop altogether by breaking the wall at the start of the match.

I'm against nerfing NoEd. The only nerf I want to noed, is an indirect nerf through a totem counter in the Fabulous New Shiny Beautiful HUD™.
Spirit and Freddy are mostly fine except for their add-ons. They are strong vanilla but with Add-ons can become unmanageable, especially coupled with powerful meta perks like Ruin and Tinkerer.
-
I already appreciated Kate, Jane and Ice Titties yesterday.
I don't have any more minutes to give to your cause.

I know I will get demolished in the comments but want to make it anyway.
I think that iron will is to strong as a Perk wirtout down sides. No mither has a downside, you can't heal but you're 50% quieter.
I think the two should swap so that iron will is a nice 50%'quiet bonus and no mither is one Intressting perk. No sounds but also no heals.
Give 150% breathing sound reduction from Iron Will and deal.

I am gonna go against the flow, here. The new HUD might take some time to adjust to, but I am excited about it, the same for the new animations. It's gonna be easier to hide behind trees by standing straight.
And it's going to be harder hiding behind walls because your head pops out.
-
They haven't even done it yet and your already complaining why they doing this.
Stop putting the cart before the horse.
Your baseless conjecture is pointless.

My thoughts are there have been no surprises in this patch. They released basically all of them a month ago on the PTB. Not much has changed since that test, including new animations.
That's not what OP meant by "secretive" the changes were no secret. By "secretive" he means the devs won't disclose the reasoning behind the changes or their opinions on why it had to be done.
-
No, the backlash isn't because the devs are "secretive" they've always been like this.
The reason for the backlash is they pushed out an absolute turd and just about everyone called them out on it a month ago yet they still went and did it anyway.
They've got balls but we're here to crush those balls.

my suggestion is just straight up don't open dbd for 2-3 days, let them see what they've done to their own game, make them lose playerbase cuz it's not normal that they are silent about all this *bad word* happening. new update is abysmal, it's so obvious
I play what I want.
You can't stop me.

Bring back old DS!!! It should be use as a anti tunneling tool yea fine but killer just abuse the hell out of the 60 sec time... if you run DS and the killer has noed. I get downed with 3 sec left. they dont wanna risk reviving me so they go to the exit gate and 1 camp there 1 of my teammates is on the hook and 1 is left running around. The killer just waits out my DS and hooks me making me handicapped and not able to use 1 perk slot for the whole game... One easy and fair fix in my opinion is to make it activate after you get downed and maybe lower the times to 30 40 and 50 instead... 3 out of 4 games i wont be able to use DS at all and when i dont i get insta tunneled and end up dying instantly
Not even nerfed yet and we already want it reverted.
-
Pretty much everyone has noticed. It's basically Hawkin's Lab but the map is a lot easier for survivors because a lot of the palettes are in bad spots for the killer. Aside from the hideous dead ends the map changed from slightly killer-sided to tremendously survivor-sided. It's a terrible, terrible map for killers right now.
I think that map design should be more like Hawkin's lab. Lots and lots of palettes, but they should mostly be unsafe ones not like the ones we got in The Game rework.
-
Good to hear. I'm PC Master Race so I never noticed those.
-
I, I, I can't!!! I'm chopping onions right now for my stew tonight.
-
Hey you're right Unbroken is broken!
No wonder I've been ranking down (seems I'm Rank 5 right now I'm usually always in red). LOL
-
I should check this in my current game. Just waiting for the killer he's just letting us bleed out. You know there lots of jerk killers out there.

I used 4 or 5 Asylum offerings and got the chapel every time. We did get the ward randomly one time without the use of an offering though.
Good to know that the Ward is still in the game then.
I have played about 10 times in the Chapel now but not a single time in the Ward.
I have always had crap luck when it comes to RNGesus.

I’m definitely not buying the battle pass this time because it looks terrible bar the oni skin but Jane is getting a new set so I’ll make an exception for that as I always buy them.
So looks like you're still buying the Battelpass anyway hahaha.

Surpassing DBD is easy, in the sense that creating a better DBD-style game is a lot easier than making a better GTA-style game.
DBD just has first mover advantage and is the progenitor of the genre, but the game itself as we all know has tons of flaws that a good developer would be able to fix if it had the kind of brand recognition DBD has.
-
Clown is not a weak killer. Clown is a strong killer in chase. He just has a major weakness in getting around.
To the OP, versing Clown is all about keeping distance. Treat him like Leatherface and you'll be far better off. Big problem versing clown is he can close off almost any loop easily with his gas. Solution: don't engage in chase and get as much distance as possible from the get go.
-
BHVR's idea of making the game harder for survivors is to make dead ends. They started with the Saloon then with Midwich and now with The Game.
Ugh.

Not really. Hate how we can't nod to the other Survivors anymore. Used to have fun nodding when a teammate would miss a skill check and they would tbag in result. It just doesn't have the same effect with these new animations
Shaking your head is a lot better though.
NO is NO!
-
Teabagging is a tactical tool. And one to express gratitude.
I normally only teabag the killer when I am trying to get his attention to chase me -- usually to take the heat off a teammate. I also teabag to thank survivors who heal me, or to a killer if he let me go.
-
@Dragonshensi said:
I think a lot of these survivors are tryhards who wAtch dbd streamers and videos and think “yeah, I can do that too! Even though they spent hours upon hours daily playing this game. I think I can do all the gens, open the gate, and go file my taxes all while injured!”
My experience is 100% the opposite.
Most survivors are cowards who hide in corners and self-care.

There is. Totem spot on Tractor in Coldwind.

Nobody plays a perfect game.
Sometimes not healing is the correct play. Sometimes healing is the correct play. There are no absolutes. Being able to figure out the correct play is what separates victory from defeat.
And what makes that correct or not depends a lot on the players playing. So it is very, very difficult to figure out the correct play especially in Solo Q and against random killer opponents.
-
It's just you.
Skill check is 100% exactly the same as it was before.
-
It was probably too hard to change "8" to "16"
That's PhD Dissertation Rocket Science material there. We can't possibly expect it to be done in just a month.

Did you go up against a trapper? Cause how were you able to be downed, then get back up and still be able to unhook someone?
Gosh I have gone up against every killer using that build and escaped with it. Did you check the build? The build I use is Iron Will, Plunderer, Appraisal, Aftercare (or Left Behind)
I don't use Unbreakable so i would only have been able to get up if I were picked up by someone. Which happens all the time.

Keys are stupid.
They let the survivors avoid the phase where the killer is most powerful. It even scales proportionally. At best, 1gen left, 2 survivors escape, where the Killer should be able to secure victory as a result of playing well.
The hatch as a whole needs a rework.
Hatch is fine. It already got a rework.
-
@Dragonshensi said:
Can you use a key when there is still two survivors alive? If so does the key item show in the slot on the player afterward? I was up against a Cheryl player and I suspected hacking cause I would down her and before I could even pick her up she got right back up again. I was wondering if they can hack open the hatch cause they still had one gen left to do and they somehow got away. Not only that I saw the hatch multiple times in my patrol and they weren’t near it. So odd.
That was probably me.
You can use keys no matter how many survivors are alive. As long as the hatch has spawned you can use a key. It won't necessarily be in the summary screen. I use Cheryl to fish keys out of chests all the time and escape.

Same as before. nothing changed for my matchmaking.

I don't understand it, the new Ui is awesome.
- You can see how wich in game character is injured
- You can look how many hooks you have and if it's worth to save a teammate or not
- You can choose how big your ui should be.
- Yeah the position is a bit weird but not hard to learn.
You could see #1 even with the old UI. The size of the UI is not important if it weren't as bad as it is. The resizing is also junk because it also shrinks your skill check. Which is a ridiculously stupid oversight. Hook state is nice but it doesn't outweight how bad the new UI is. It's not just about learning the position it's also how cluttered the screen is, in a game that is supposed to be atmospheric and immersive.

Its not gonna die because you dont spend money on the the game... might slow down for a bit. If everyone didnt spend any money for 3 months... they’d come out of their towers and say “wait everyone doesnt like everything we do?....they think we’re lazy?.... they dont think we listen?.... we should probably see what everyones on about then”
Scott Jund did an eye opening video of what BHVR does in 3 months vs what another team does with their game with 1/3 the work force... really put into perspective lol
DBD patch notes and bug fixes are 1/10th of what some other devs do in the same amount of time
It won't die but you have to start somewhere. not spending money on the game is the first step to holding the devs accountable for their game.
-
Yeah the hits super extend, some people have mentioned that every killer has Freddy lunge now. Theyr'e not wrong.

There is a feedback section about the UI as it seems to be the biggest issue. I'm sure if you are constructive in your feedback and raise a legit concern as to the design the feedback will be considered and eventually communicated on.
As you say its only been 12 hours that's not that long when it comes to acrued feedback even if its overwhelmingly negative. This will probably be like the aura changes. 1 day of unconstructive, unobjective kneejerk anger, couple of days of feedback and then a reasponse.
FYI I really hate the new UI, but have given my feedback as comprehensively and objectively as possible otherwise they won't be taken seriously.
That's BS. We already gave them tons of feedback on it, a lot of it was very articulate and sensible. They didn't give a #########.

The patch has been out for almost 12 hours. This is the absolute angriest I have ever seen the community collectively be upset at something since I've started playing the game. This isn't just a one-sided problem as per usual. This is everyone. People are upset about the UI, bugs, hitboxes and balance issues on the new maps and more. The queues are the longest I've ever seen them. Steam is showing a rapid drop in players.
Why has nobody issued a statement, a commitment to fixing the issues, or even an apology yet? Does the team just not care about its players?
They all took EL (Emergency Leave AKA Emotional Leave) today scheduled for when the patch hits, because they knew they'd have a metric ton of crap dumped on their heads. We gave them a month's notice so they had more than enough time to file leave.
I don't know why you're having long queue times though. My queue times are instant.
-
Even more fun fact: Nurse counters all pallettes on the map
-
Wow I better check if same thing is happenign to me. I haven't cared about rank for years so I generally don't even look at it but I'm curious to see if I'm getting the same bug.
-
Yeah it's terrible. But I still play this way over 100%, because the HUD is that bad I rather have harder skill checks than see that mess.
-
That's not a solution.
Detective's Hunch doesn't alert you of Traps.
Which is what the OP is talking about.
