  • As of today never. Because matchmaking is screwed and as a rank 9 killer I'm being pitted against ranks 4-1 quite regularly.

I was even doubting my ability that I got to rank 7 playing against survivors of a similar rank, that's a whole lot worse feeling now

  • Well someone's a master baiter aren't they?

  • Furthermore. Lobby times for killer have been made shorter thanks to the ruin change. Rejoice fellow gamer, together we'll get gen rushed to oblivion

  • I'm not even going to read 90% of that because both sides of the argument have been done to death already, and it's a morning. Mornings aren't meant for arguing.

But my favorite cookie is either white choc chip or triple choc. Preferably store brand. One they're cheaper and two they taste exactly the same as on brand cookies like rolo and Cadbury so... Win win

None of that is true aside from sound bugs.

Also the last one I guess but if one survivor runs you around the whole game then you obviously need to improve. I dont want to turn this into “git gud” but if any survivor runs you around anywhere close to that you should be watching some pros play and seeing what they do. It helped me a lot when I first started.

None of those are true are they? Let's just apply logic to that.

Most killers feeling helpless - this in part is due to how much of an effect a survivor can have on their power. For set up killers it's disarming their traps, for legion it's simply just running in a straight line, for oni it's playing stealthily, for wraith/ghostface/pig it's survivors using their eyes, Freddy it's survivors waking up. For huntress it's using loops that you know she won't be able to throw hatchets at. Like the coal tower. For the shape it's stealth yet again as is the case with nurse.

Killers onyl being able to apply pressure only if a survivor makes a mistake - if a killer spawns at one end of the map and survivors spawn at the other end next to a generator. What can that killer do exept hope that a skill check is missed? Or hope that the survivor isn't a strong looper.

Surivors dictating how fast the game goes - its able to have all the generators done and be out the gates in 3 mintures flat. Whole one is being chased 3 others can get 3 gens done

    The constant sound bugs

The ability for one survivor to run around a killer for the whole game. In a 4v1 asymmetrical game - let's see here.... Exhaustion perks to create distance, the abundance of strong loops spawning close to each other, the existance of God Windows - the fact that if the killer stops chasing They have to waste more time trying to find another survivor which if the other 3 are on gens isnt something they have the ability to do

  • The game can be over in 3 minutes on the dot if the survivors do the generators.

The amount of time each survivor has on hook is 3 minutes. Meaning that in total the time a killer has to do their objective is.... In 12 minutes.... 4 times more than the time the survivors have to get their objective done.

Now this isn't going to be every game

But at rank 1 - there's a reason good survivors don't rush the unhook.

It wasn't a buff, or a nerf. It suits a different and more productive playstyle, and they didn't do him wrong, but he remains about the same on the tier list. So that's irrelevant. Especially when the changes were made for the sake of survivors.

I mean. They straight up nerfed snap out of it.

It's basicly deep wounds but without a red bar. I'd make a joke about lethality but deep wounds doesn't have any

    Theres no need for hyperbole.

Pretty much everyone has commented on how broken the Ghostface reveal is. Even killer mains, even some people that play GF can admit it. It comes up everytime someone mentions Ghostface. There tons of video evidence out there.

Theres no point trying to downplay it just because you’re afraid a killer may be made weaker by being fixed and working correctly.

You have a point with that statement you've just made.

And I agree. There's no need for hyperbole to make it seem like ghostfaces reveal mechanic never works at all, furthermore what if the ghostface runs either the drivers licence or the victims detailed routine? There is a set distance you have to be in to reveal the teababby boi.

Theres also no need to suggest that this one killers wonky mechanic makes up for :

    Most killers feeling helpless

Killers onyl being able to apply pressure only if a survivor makes a mistake

Surivors dictating how fast the game goes

    The constant sound bugs

The ability for one survivor to run around a killer for the whole game. In a 4v1 asymmetrical game.

    The list goes on.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

See, I remember on reddit all the “killer mains” at the time complaining that BHVR never listens to them and giving all these ideas for a buff and what they want.

BHVR listened and they listened well.

Then we ended up with Ghostface, a tie for Legion for the least fun killer in the game.

This is why the devs never normally listen to “mains”. You end up with things like this.

So what your saying is you don't like moving your camera to reveal a ghostface put of his stealth ability? Neat.

It isn't that hard, after a few reveals you get the hang of it. And this is coming from someone who isn't a full on survivor main.

But fine. Think what you will, would you prefer the first iteration of ghostface from the PTB? Litteraly making his power useless. Is that fun for you?

Reduce charging move speed to 67% normal from 70% normal to keep the speed the same at 3.08 m/s.

Says here they adjusted the charge move speed to make it the same as pre-rework (when Doc would be at 110% speed while in Treatment Mode instead of 115% always). So it's overall a step up for the Doctor as far as Shock Therapy is concerned.

"they adjusted the charge move speed to make it the same as pre-rework (when Doc would be at 110% speed"

How is keeping something the basically the same to as it was before a step up?

  • So I have to kick generators to apply unevering presence and distressing now? Amazing change 10/10

  • Sorry bud but. His shock still has a delay. It's just like old doc, no better for looping....Well...maybe you get a small amount more distance but they increased how slow you go when charging the shock.

But I do slightly agree with static blast being good for tracking, shame it's on a one minute cool down and can still be countered by lockers

What does being jailed actually do?

If you see someone breaking the rules, hit the flag icon next to the post. This doesnt have to be a killer versus survivor thing. You can find ######### people on both sides. If your saying the maker of the video doesnt have the right to speak his opinion, id disagree. Although I might not agree with every point, Coconut stayed civil for the entire video and backed up each point he was making.

Claiming he cant say anything on one platform (youtube) because he was jailed on a separate platform (these forums) is silly. If he ever crossed the line to the degree that the devs wanted nothing to do with him, theyd have banned him from the game itself. Being jailed could very simply mean he got in an overly heated discussion on the forums and will have the icon removed at a later date, like is the case with many users here.

He got jailed for calling someone willfully ignorant. In a polite way. That's it.

  • Free devour hope without a hex. That'd be borderline impossible to play against as your dammed if you don't rush the unhook but dammed if you do because the killer would adapt and tunnel

  • Sorry you lost me when you said 5 people have to work together to make the game fun.

And besides - A ghostface teabagging you as your slugged isn't as problematic as a game being able to be over in 3 minutes on the dot.

  • @28_stabs said:

    3 things killers need:

    free Bamboozle

free Spirit Fury + Enduring for every 2nd pallet

    free Devour Hope without Hex

To be fair, here is what I would give to solo survivors:

    free Kindred

    free WGLF

    free DS

    To SWF:

take away 1 hook stage. 2nd hook always instant death. Play careful.

That's.... A little extreme. But if you gave them free perks you'd have to rework all of those perks mentioned

Ohhh okay so it's an issue that's not consistent. I haven't noticed/experienced the sound issues named by @Seltas0208 which is why I was genuinely confused as to what people were even referring to as I often find survivors due to something as quiet as normal breathing sounds as seen in the clip.

I wonder if it's a platform specific issue, too. Everyone who seems to complain about sounds appears to be on PC but I could be wrong.

Hey I can't take the credit. I just nicked those from another discussion, but I don't think it's platform specific as the chase music stuff applies to all consoles, I play on ps4 and I can't even hear footsteps to begin with.

  • I'll just leave this discussion post here

In the Oni Chapter update, the engine was updated which (as evidenced by every previous engine update) has broken the sound design of the game again. This is primarily noticeable from the killer players who rely heavily on sound for at least 50% of their ability to hunt down survivors. As it currently stands:

Survivors footsteps can no longer be heard while in a chase no matter how close they are(either due to chase music volume being too loud, or survivors footsteps being too quiet).

Survivors Groans and Grunts of pain can only be heard during a chase if they are within 8 meters.

Some survivors who are in the dying state make no pained sounds at all.

Breathing sounds from survivors can't be heard at all unless the killer is right on top of them, and only if they had just finished running.

Stridor no longer increases survivors pained grunts/moans volume if they are running Iron Will, making it pretty much useless when combined with the problem in no.2.

Walls and floor levels completely obscure Generator noises (repairing, running) unless the killer is within 4 meters of them, or sometimes at weird distances where they can be heard clearly, but take 1 step and suddenly they become silent.

Fire barrel and Hex totem crackling are either too loud when in the open, or completely silent if hiding behind a wall.

Killers Footstep and Breathing noises are completely silent until the killer is within 6 meters, and are also nulled by chase music and walls. This makes it extremely difficult to tell when a killer is sneaking up on survivors and even worse when the killer is mind-gaming survivors at a LoS blocking loop since they can't determine which direction the killer is moving. While this makes things a bit more exciting as survivor, it also becomes insanely frustrating when trying to juke or react to a killer.

And this is pretending sound doesn't exist does it? If it was survivors experiencing these sound bugs how would you like it if someone ranted on about how survivors pretend sound doesn't exist?

    Awsome.

  • @ReallyBigShoe said:

Balance should never be done around new players. It should also never be done around only high rank players. It should be done universally around everyone; and it IS possible. TF2 has been doing it for years.

BHVR it seems...just doesn't know how.

Tf2 balances around the higher skilled players.... Its called trickle down balance and uncle dane did a good video on it

  • @Archimedes5000 said:

Whats the point of this ######### wall of text. Please enlighten me.

Devs removed ruin so that they can have a look at the gens and see if its really true that they are going too fast.

Nurse is still the 2nd strongest killer, Spirit is still the strongest killer. Oni flick is getting fixed to be 90° instead of 360° or 0°. Doctor rework is actually a buff, despite the bullshit in the patchnotes, you can't counter him by going to lockers, because you don't know when he will use the ability (this is not BBQ). All delays and cooldowns are getting fixed too.

The point of this [censoredbecauseforumrules] wall of text is to point out that these arguments don't necessarily prove that the Devs aren't survivor sided because of how the changes end up working out for both sides

And also. Lockers absolutely counter doctor. As soon as you hear his terror radius you can safely get into a locker to avoid his tracking on a 1 min cooldown but your right it isn't bbq. Its a lesser version of bbq that works within the terror radius on a minute long cooldown without the proper aura reveal unless ads ons are being run.

Did I forget to mention stacking bonuses with Sloppy Butcher and Thanataphobia? Mainly Than, but those two together are brutal.

Anti heal isn't as strong as people say it is, being Injured can actually benefit a surivor on a generator if they run perks like resilience and dead hard.

And then when all the gens are done that slowdown means nothing because adrenaline insta heals them

  • @Mert_MK said:

Don't go for the survivor that just got unhooked and go for the rescuer instead? If it even comes to the point of them going into a locker in a chase to use their DS, you were tunneling and the perk does it's job well enough.

I played Killer enough against red rank Survivors and BT/DS never bothered me.

So if someone unhooks a suruvor in my face I'm supposed to let the injured survivor just escape and chase the healthy one and lose pressure? That thing every suruvor is telling killers to apply instead of just relying on ruin?

Furthermore let's apply this logic of : "if they had to go into a locker to force ds you were tunneling". They're FORCING the DS. Not continuing to run hoping to avoid being tunneled, they're asking taunting the killer. If they search the locker and get dsed it's a free escape from the chase, if the killer waits it out they get head on'd. If they simply leave the survivor it's giving them a free heal. Not taking into account how many gens will fly by as this is being done.

Nearly every surivor I get matched with has ds, and when I do get hit I'm wondering :"so I'm still tunneling despite hooking two other survivors"

Like I said : 60 seconds of invincibility no matter how you cut it.

  • @Mert_MK said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1000780#Comment_1000780

Yes, you do. But it's not really gonna get you anywhere tbh.

It has enough counterplay and they have said before they don't plan to change it again.

    Enough counterplay you say?

Slugging : this doesn't make the ds go away. It gives 60s of invincibility no matter if they're slugged or not, further more they can just crawl away and get healed or run unbreakable, and then after they get picked up. Furthermore a suruvor can force a DS if they go into a locker, and then if the killer still wants to wait it out they can get stunned by a head on.

Just eating it : it allows the suruvor to get to a safe loop and to waste even more of your time. And what if they save it for the endgame? You won't know that and there's nothing a killer can do about it.

  • To be honest. I don't think it will.

You already have to be doing well to get a good benefit out of it.

If you get one token by the time 3 gens are done then you might as well just be running a perk that'd help in the chase to make that 3 gen pop into a potential 2 gen pop. If you get what I mean

  • @Boss said:

I like the first poll, but only if it's a poll to tell them where we think more attention should be, not a command of what to edit next.

I don't like the second poll, it'd limit the number of choices, they might not be good enough at all, or all could be too good, or you want to combine some, etc. etc.

Thanks for leaving constructive critisim and not just saying my opinion doesn't count because I'm more biased towards killer due to me playing that role.

  • That's a fair point. But those stats are kinda outdated by a long shot, a lot of changes have happened since those were released.

  • @Accullla said:

I think it's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure it could work in reality. I think that because only a limited portion of the community plays both roles equally, the votes might be heavily squed towards one side or the other, I. E.bias may overwhelm objectivity. Just because an overwhelming majority of a community wants something doesn't mean that they'll be happy once they get it

I find it hard to believe when people say survivors abuse said perk. Truthfully you cannot abuse a perk if it’s working how it’s supposed to work :/

If You get picked up and it’s activated you can try to escape killer grasp that’s how it works the whole “It’s an anti tunneling perk is just a given term / label for the perk.

That point you make about "all of these changes" makes me think you only read the part about DS and not that those were examples of what a poll could look like.
