A lot of scummy tactics have existed in this game for as long as it goes back.
Tunneling was acknowledged and a surge of anti-tunnel perks were created and some have already been here since the beginning.
Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Breakdown (regardless of it being an awful perk), Adrenaline and Iron will also function as anti-tunneling perks in desperate need, but we can leave iron will out due to it being probably the most useful overall perk in the game since it helps with many aspects.
Slugging also has it's counters, and a perk even introduced in the last patch.
Unbreakable, Soul Guard, Tenacity, and yes, flip-flop.....
The only effective Anti Gen-Rushing perks we have as of now with no retarded requirements are Pop Goes the weasel and Corrupt Intervention, Corrupt intervention is simple to understand, less gens early game = get a hook with 1 or no gens completed.
Pop, You're rewarded for hooking a person a 25% slowdown to ONE gen. It's actually great since 25% is 20 seconds which is a lot, it's to one gen only, sure. But the more hooks the more you get it. Simple and straight to the point.
Old ruin was passive and had great effect, instead of 3 gens being completed in 80 seconds of the game it would take 100 or 105 seconds, enough to push you off a couple of them or at least 1. Best case scenario survivors actively look for it early-game instead of doing gens.
Here are perks that some survivors might overestimate and mention as anti-genrushing below, but they really aren't...
Thrilling tremors: Blocks what's NOT being worked on, and if you play killer you know this is a tracking perk not a gen slowdown.
New Ruin: Punishes gens NOT being worked on, again if they work it they'll finish it.
"Thanatophobia": Probably the MOST overrated killer perk, assuming you're continiously injuring with it you'll be at 3/4 injured survivors, which is 12% slowdown. 12% slowdown to gen speed is Horrible, adding only 9 seconds, what can you do with 9 seconds? Hook a survivor?
Dying Light: Another overrated perk, and honestly dumb in design. Let's say you get to 7 stacks by deliberately ignoring the obsession, 21% slowdown.
But wait, this 21% slowdown does NOT apply to obsession, so you may think, ok let's just get rid of the obsession!!
Getting rid of the obsession de-activates the perk....
Ok screw it, let him be, I'll just find someone else. But by this dying light only applies to 2 PEOPLE, because you're chasing one of the 3 people it applies for. And the perks already gains its stacks by hooks if you're at 7 stacks by ignoring the obsession you MUST have killed someone by now. So it only applies to 1 person.
12-24% slowdown for 1 or 2 people, is it really worth it?
Surge: Only affects gens in 32m, but let's say you're in 32m, thats 6 extra seconds..... WOW
Dead man's switch: No possiblity for synergy with other perks since blocking gens causes ZERO regression, even if you have new ruin or if you damaged it, survivors must touch and let go after you hook so this only works if you have lots of mobility (Billy or nurse) OR you can intentionally make people let go (doctor or freddy). But these aren't the only 4 killers in the game are they?
Survivors will just get back to the gen after you finish downing the survivor near the gen and finish it while you pick him or her up, in the exact same time he would have if he didn't let go.
NOED: NOED doesn't really counter gen-rushing. But it punishes it. No killer should be forced to run this perk in fear of getting gen-rush matches, and I say this should be a base-kit perk because totems directly become an essential secondary objective
Point is, we need to make changes to counter gen rushing. Implementing more perks for the killers that focus mainly on gen speeds is not what I suggest since killers shouldn't have to rely on a perk (like old ruin), while you're on a cooldown bar spree go for gens too, 40 seconds cooldown between working on 1 gen to the other, you can heal in it, do totems, but just not gens.
My point is that if you get queued against half decent survivors, okay at looping, don't waste time, and know what their main objective is, you're in the shlt.
Sounds like you loose a lot. Just get better or tank rating so you feel better about yourself beating up on 20s. Honestly just sounds like you are having a hard time and instead of working on it and fixing your play you came here to scream and cry. You should man up so to speak

Now 8/10 when im about to unhook a phase 1 survivor i see him trying the 4% chance just before unhooking, i even see once a genius Yui passing phase 2 like this by herself 1 second before unhooking. Not doing my Karen but I find this a little bit rude and unproductive lol
Hey hey so I do this BUT only if I have the room for it. If I can try one 4% and still be phase 1 and ya get me cool I tried and nothing came of it no big deal. But don't put yourself into 2nd for a 4% try that's stupid if someone's close

In Low Ranks, Killers immediately tunneling Survivors off hook is a legitimate issue that Decisive can help fix. At high ranks though, Borrowed Time is common and very few Killers hard camp.
At Rank 10, Decisive punishes campers and protects against bad teammates going for unsafe saves. It usually gets picked up by the Killer in the first maybe 15-20 seconds of the timer.
At Rank 1, Decisive prevents Killers from gaining momentum and forces them to slug. If they get stunned, it's usually at the 50-59 second marker or because the Survivor forces a pickup with the locker exploit (no, its not a tech).
Rework the perk.... again. Or just decrease the timer to from 60 seconds to 30-40 seconds. Then it will still punish hard tunneling, but it will be very hard to accidentally pickup Decisive if you're legitimately not tunneling and its just a fast paced game. Or if the Survivors are doing endgame mechanic abuse and getting everyone's Decisive activated so the Killer can't pickup
Make another thread asking devs to make practice mode for you

I was in a Pig match with 2 friends and 1 rando, and needless to say: the Pig was a little tunnely. I get downed and they put the mask on me. Here's the issue though:
A) As soon as the timer started, I noticed that I had a very limited amount of time to remove it (like 45 seconds)
B) All the traps were a significant distance from each other
C) I could not do one of the closer traps as the rando had just hopped on it (and I didn't want to waste time by waiting)
D) The RNG was not on my side as I had 1 trap left (with 10 seconds to spare)
As stated before, the killer was a little tunnely and ended up finding me again and hooked me.. again. I got taken off the hook, but by the time I got to the last trap, the timer ran out.
Mind you, all of this happened within 3 or so minutes.
Maybe I just had rotten luck or maybe I'm onto something, but how is it remotely fair that there's an add-on to already reduce the amount of time to take off the reverse-bear trap when I have to focus on getting away from the killer + among the other things to do within a trial? I could not do ANYTHING in that game because of how fast that timer was going.. I've been against the pig a number of times and I've never had this issue before.
(For any pig mains, go easy on me. Maybe there's just something I'm missing. I'm not trying to sound like a baby.)
In short you got beat and went to the forums to cry

I sincerely hope that this gets noticed by BHVR, because the issues killers are facing are seriously ridiculous.
This is probably going to be a long post, and I don't plan on making a Tl;dr, so buckle up.
Does anyone see the issue with Tru3 and Otz making alot of videos along the lines of "TOXIC SWEATY RANK 1 SMURF CRINGE 4 MAN SWF VS DOC"? Doesn't that kinda conflict with the game looking to be "casual pvp"? Also, why do they feel it is such a big accomplishment to go against optimal survivors? Doesn't that mean that kind of imply that survivors have the uppers hand? I don't think they are just catering to a bunch of bad killers, since he reaches well over 100k on these videos.
I took a break from Dbd for a while, and got back to playing Apex Legends. I actually felt like I had an equal opportunity against my opponent, even if they had a better gun, or a better body shield, or even better addons. It felt amazing being able to outplay an entire squad, and that got me thinking.
Dbd lacks a LOT of outplaying.
There is no skill in running from safe, un-mindgameable pallet to pallet. There is no skill in taking a full 30 seconds to get from one gen to another. There is no skill in the survivor dead harding to a pallet to avoid getting downed.
There is so little that the killer can really do besides run in circles and waste their time. The game doesn't give the killer equal opportunity to outplay the survivors.
I have a challenge for every person that plays killer regularly: Play another pvp game. Try it out for a while, take a break from this game. Apex Legends, Destiny 2, Fortnite, Smash bros, almost any other online pvp game really. It feels so much better than playing killer.
It would be kind of silly to bring up these issues without solutions, however, i've been able to identify the biggest hindrances to Killer v Survivor balance. Map design, Perks, and Items.
Map design is for the most part awful. I think a great example of how not to make a map is the corn maps. They have all the things that create a bad killer map: An easily accessible, strong center structure, un-mindgameable pallet loops, loops being too close to each other, and the map itself being huge. It is no wonder these maps have the highest survival rate (55%). The changes that need to be made to this map in particular are simple. Balance the center structure's windows, create an in-game value to help prevent the randomizer from putting loops to close to eachother, add more to standard loops to make them more mindgameable (i.e putting hay bales in the tractors, making other structures taller), and making the map smaller. Small maps are good for killers AND survivors since it promotes more interaction between the two, which is more skillful, and it rewards strong loopers, while killers don't lose too much gen time simply because the walk there is so long (which isn't skillful)
This check list for making sure maps aren't too powerful for survivors would dramatically change how killer feels. The only reason people used Ruin so much was because of terrible map design. Ruin's nerf was just another bad band-aid fix that addresses very few aspects of a bigger problem.
I think survivor's perks having a somewhat greater effect than killer's is justified. It would be boring if all the perks had a similar effect like killer's (Bitter Murmur v. Dark Sense), but... survivors have items to compensate for the lack of an ability. It's literally in the same slot area as killer, so wouldn't that be kinda unjust to have really powerful survivor perks? The best perks killer have are usually aura reading (Bbq, Nurses), or things that help in a chase (Enduring + Spirit Fury is almost mandatory at high ranks) while survivors have not only multiple second chance perks (Dh, Ds), but also perks that can cripple the killer's pressure by performing actions by themselves that would regularly require another survivor (Unbreakable, Deliverance) Survivors already have abilities in the form of items, should they really have insanely powerful perks?
Hell, the items themselves are problematic. I know they are looking into changing toolboxes, but I have a really high feeling it's just going to be something marginal like making the skill checks smaller. Almost every item works to make the killer's pressure less effective. Med-kits, Toolboxes, Flashlights, and The Survivor's version of moris, the ######### Keys.
I want this game to do well, there is no other cat and mouse game like Dead by Daylight. If I wanted to watch this game flop into irrelevancy, I wouldn't have typed all of this up. Give killers just a nudge, we have been needing that whole asymmetry deal lol.
Stopped reading after you mentioned Tru. He is a complainer and cries when we gets worked over by a good team or survivor.

@Mellow7 said:
I've had my fair share of games done in under 5 minutes by survivors rushing the gens optimally but this is just on a whole new level, 4 gens done in about 3 mins exact and Tru3 only engaged in about 2 chases which ended pretty quick up until the point when the fourth popped. The devs always say they want the game to be fun for both sides but the recent patches that have been going through prove otherwise and the lack of bug fixes on the killer side, it seems to me that BHVR doesn't care enough about their killer player base to even mention all the issues that have been present since these patches went through starting from the Cursed Legacy DLC that introduced the sound bugs.
The problem is you're watching tru3 and he cries like a baby if he gets a bad match then talks ######### to surv if they are bad. He is rubbish and disgraces the queen.

the map is just soooooo annoying, boring, stupid and unfun to Play on. for Killer AND Survivor. there are so many closed doors which led to you being caged in one empty room while you get chased, teammates getting into second hook stage/ dying because you cant reach them in time. stairways are just leading in one direction so you have to run around the entire stairs to use them. nearly everywhere you drop down you get staggered so badly you cant run away fast enough. as Killer the map (or at least on my screen) the map is so dark you cant see survivors properly, there are only unmindgameable pallets in every second room. if you bring bamboozle on huntress what i usually do you are screwed the second you spawn on this map. the map is also very ugly (not the design itself, it Matches well with the SAW Franchise, but Overall ist just an ugly Grey Building). everytime i Play on this map i wanna DC instantly….
is there anyone relating to me out there or am i alone with this opinion?
That map is amazing on survivor. Hands down favorite. Here's what ya do ok. Go to YouTube and turn on the theme to the saw movies. It adds this next level ambiance to it. I'm telling you try it cause it really makes that map enjoyable :)

I'm honestly sick of it. When 2 or 3 survivors DC because they are having a bad match I de-pip because of it. It's not my job to ensure their fun. It's not my fault they don't like the map, killer, or perks I play with. It's not my fault they don't know how to loop, be aware, or simply have bad luck.
@Peanits Get on this right now, and hotfix this change immediately. Probably doing so while you guys are working on your MMR will at least restore a little faith in the small portion of the players that actually play Killer.
You're spot on never really thought of it but this would be great!!

We all know the usually discussions about maps, gen speed and perks for survivors and killers. But I want to look at another side of it, bugs and the rate at which they are fixed.
Doctor ignoring ds and basement bug are 2 of the more recent and significant bugs, one was universal and the other was character specific and were fixed within 2-3 weeks.
Sounds, hags fake/short lunge and Billy's fake chainsaws, sounds have been awful for months now and still hasn't been fixed, hag will consistently get a short lunge when she swings immediately after teleporting and Billy oh boy, randomly will hit the survivor with his chainsaw and nothing will happen. All of these bugs have been in the game for longer and are arguably more significant than the survivor bugs and yet aren't fixed at even close to the same rate.
TLDR
Survivor bugs appear to be more important to the devs.
Posts like this should start with "I just got beat really bad so I'm here now"

As 14 surv i get nothing but games where i am the target right away no matter what i do. Whether this is hiding or not. This is staying stationary and not doing a trucking thing waiting to see who the killer is or if i am doing a gen. If i do a gen they come. If i dont do a gen they get me on the way to a gen.
I have the worst trucking luck in the whole game. Or its the devs placing killers in the same place as me all the fuckign time. This is bullshit.
If i run detection perks ill get a doc. If i use calm spirit the bastards who made this wait till i get rid of it and then give me a doc. If i use SB i get nurse or billy. I am ######### done with this BS. This game serves me nothing but killers who counter everything i do or run and am the target first. Counter everything i have every single game. No random perk that i get to use. A full on counter. Run
I either die first or have to deal with idiots who hook dive 2 seconds after the killer leaves and then i hide all trucking game to get enough points to pip. Screw this. I am so trucking done with this BS.
Rank 8 killer. I am a far better killer than surv. So now you have one less killer. The new people might stay. I dont care.
The matchmaking is really bad in this game and i refuse to frustrate myself any more. No more. I am done.
Deleting the game. Not just uninstalling it. Deleting from steam permanently with all the DLC. DONE
Done with the frustration. Done with the surv bias ( that somehow never works for me )
Going back to flight sims and have a healthier heart in the process. This game is bad for your health as killer. I am serious. We have to sweat so truckign hard for our gains. Surv, if you are good, is just a matter of holding m1. My mistake was holding M1 for the ones who end up getting out. Or me opening the door. I was the sucker.
This is what solo que is like. We get screwed.
Done. Now ######### off

I really started loving Make Your Choice at some point, but i'll bring up the more recent example for me...
Surge is doing extremely good work for me right now.
I don't need to waste time kicking those, it still scares some Survivor off of Generators no matter what rank, & even if they stay on it, it's still some extra work they have to do.
Its cooldown is its biggest negative to me, but i can live with it.
I also equip Pop Goes The Weasel along with it, to kick those that aren't regressing and need regression badly.
Locker heal straight up

The ranking system is not why this game has been so successful and thinking otherwise is delusional. A lot of people have just stopped caring about rank because of how poor of a job BHVR is doing with their ranking systems.
Also are you really about to defend a ranking system that punishes the player for an enemy disconnecting? No good ranking system punishes you for an opposing player leaving the game.
I like that you have to bring up ranks when I didn't lol
-
@SnakeSound222 said:
It’s because the devs have no clue on how to develop a proper ranking system. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was tested for only a couple of days. Do the devs really want Killers to be punished this badly for playing efficiently or having Survivors DC? The Ebony Mori probably didn’t make that much of a difference because of the stupid nine hook requirement that Devout has and the fact that it barely compensates you for DCs.
They have a clue they have made tons of money and kept this game going for over three years now. If you don't like it you can take your salty tears and go somewhere else like Roblox. Tired of all these babies thinking they know jack ######### about game development and balancing.

Bhvr dosen't like you but oh well, you did an excellent job.
On a serious note...
Why rework 5, 6? Survivor perks and only one killer perk? Do killer perks don't matter? Monstures shrine don't matter?
Thrill of the hunt?
Whispers?
Thrilling tremors?
Dying light?
Insidious?!
Shadowborn?
Lightborn?
BEAST OF PRAY?!
etc etc a whole list of them
You couldn't do 3 survivor perks and 3 killer perks?
And why tell us "Oh killer players need to start using different perks"(is basically what you said) when survivor do the same with adrenaline, dead hard, just the usual survivor meta perks. Yeah yeah, stop the killer meta perks and keep the survivor meta perks.
And you couldn't make it more obvious at the beginning that you guys just want money with the "if you want to get theses challenges just buy the character.......w-we have them on sale!" Hmm I remember you guys saying the archives are meant for casual players, but the rift grind and having to buy certain characters JUST TO DO CHALLENGES, seem to say otherwise. Like instead taking the opportunity to make more money by the archives because you perfectly timed to have your dlcs on sale and so you can monetized, actually do something better and help players who can't do it because they don't have some of the DLCs and don't want to waste money on a character that they won't like later on.
You want to continue cratering to the low rank survivors or new players and rob them of their money? Then I would change how we can do the archives, cause the way you guys have it really not for "casual players" and new players will be turned away from it.
Anyways, good job Space coconut, doing us the truth.
As someone who plays both sides red rank I can say you are a baby who can't play with out ruin. You are pathetic

I don’t wanna hear anything from survivors unless you have something positive to say. If you think this ruin change is positive to the game then I don’t respect your opinion because you’re smoking something. It’s useless now. The perk is absolutely useless. So much weaker than what it was. And even worse, I can’t use pop goes the weasel with it. Because once they get off the gens, it’s damaged. So then right when I leave, they can get right back on. I can’t use the perk til they get rid of ruin. Going against survive with friends who are ranks 1-4 is impossible. Especially on maps like autohaven and Macmillan. The amount of killers playing is about to drop baddd. My ruin is op but i get smacked in the face with borrowed, ds, etc. The only hope of winning is using a top tier killer w noed. And you can’t say “well just apply pressure”. It’s nearly impossible to apply pressure all over the map to all 4 survivors. This is insane.
It's funny that you're so bad you have to have crutch: ruin. I still 4k red rank just practice and you'll get back into the groove :)
