Yeah, with two extra seconds of chase.

Unless you use it really well, in which case it's earned again.

    Your rank is showing.

Dead hard is easily the best survivor perk in the game, when you use dead hard to "dodge a hit" yeah, it doesn't do anything. Dead harding "for distance" when you round a corner and dead hard to a pallet or window that you otherwise missed, extends the chase by an extra 20 seconds at least.

    Yeah... no.

A secondary objective will take off pressure from the killer. Because lets face it, killers are the only ones being pressured unless the killer tunnels.

Just look back at the time between the Undying release and its nerf. The amount of "camping killer" threads was practically non existant. Instead, survivors complained about having to do totems. But instead of celebrating that killers stopped camping&tunneling. They were mad, because they had to do something that nets them between 1000 and 1500 BP for 14 seconds of holding m1.

    This x1000

Lets not pretend killers wouldn't still do it if a secondary objective was added, lol. They would absolutely need nerfed.

It would be so much more healthy for the game if they address gen speeds as a whole so you don't HAVE to run gen slowdown perks (my idea would be, buff all gen slowdown perks but make it so none of them can stack and gen slowdown perks sort of become the killer's "exhaustion" perk), then they can address camping in a systemic way that prevents/heavily discourages it.

After the update that came with the Stridor nerf, there was an IW bug.Foot and breath sounds of the person using the IW are now completely turned off.

Isn't the purpose of Iron Will to silence the cries of pain? Bring back foot and breath sounds.

It's been exactly 2 months. It is not intentionally fixed as it is in favor of Survivor.this bug very annoying for Spirit players.

I want to believe that the developers of Dead By Daylight are unbiased!

What's worse is when i play survivor without iron will, and then i get hit, probably like 25% of the time i randomly just "get" iron will for like a minute or 2 for no reason.

A killer being able to get at least 2 free kills from doing absolutely nothing just because NOED exists is not fine. NOED should require the killers to actually perform suitably to get any use out of it.

Also, it doesn't activate during EGC, it activates when the gens are done. What are you talking about?

If the killer is not playing well, you should have plenty of time to do totems, no?

  • @thefallenloser said:

    It's not.

Let's say in this fairly realistic hypothetical scenario:

Bubba immediately finds, downs, and facecamps a survivor to death about 1 min into the game. In those 120 seconds it would take for Claudette to die as well as the additional 60 seconds from before, an average of 3-4 gens would be completed. Cool, almost all the gens are done. Bubba doesn't catch anyone after, then the final gen gets done. That survivor Bubba couldn't catch? NOED helped him out with a little speed boost and instadown. Bubba facecamps that survivor to death. The others can't do anything about it.

Is NOED fine in this instance?

Even assuming that survivors were looking for the totems while the first survivor was being camped, that would mean less gens would get done, giving Bubba more time to kill. This is assuming that the survivors even find the totem in the first place. On maps like Grim Pantry where the totems can spawn in some random corner away from everything else hidden in grass, are survivors expected to reliably cleanse those totems in a timely manner on that big map?

The problem with NOED is that it requires absolutely no input from the killer in order to activate such a game-changing effect. With Ruin, pressuring survivors encourages them to leave gens. Devour and Lullaby require hooks to increase their power. Crowd Control and Blood Favor require the killer to give chase for their effects to activate. Even Plaything requires a survivor to get hooked. Haunted is pretty much the only exception to this and coordinated survivors or weary solo queue players can figure out what it is, plus, it only lasts a minute.

With NOED, the survivors don't know it's in play until its effect is applied.

Solo queue players can't coordinate totem placements, especially on indoor maps or maps or very large ones.

It's effect is overly powerful for how little it requires from the killer.

If a Wraith can just run Bitter Murmur, No Way Out, and NOED and sit in the corner the entire game until the gens are done, then just go around and one-shot slug the team to death, NOED may be a problem.

The problem you describe there isn't a problem with NOED, it is a problem with camping. They need to fix camping in some systemic way, not nerf a perk that really isn't that good to begin with.

They're not returning the Legacy, get over it. They were created to show who stuck with the game when it was released, back when it was woefully unbalanced and a pain to level up. If you want Legacy so bad, then find a way to mod your game again to give it to you.

It's less about that and more about the fact that they had a bug that caused people to lose their legacy and never returned it because they didn't have data to show people earned it. There are people who legitimately never got their legacy back who earned it. It's messed up.

I find it funnier they're running WOO...Like learn tiles and where pallets will be

As someone with 1.7k hours now who plays almost exclusively solo WOO is not used when you "don't know tiles"

When you play solo, you don't know which pallets have been used and which haven't. Sometimes you get teammates who know how to play and don't waste them, other times you have people who camp the shack pallet and then get hit while dropping it anyway. WOO let's you see which pallets are up so you can navigate more safely. I'd argue that WOO + Kindred is the strongest solo queue perks you can have.

  • @Junylar said:

Just had a game as the Doctor where I looped one survivor for god know how long around a single pallet. I shocked and he vaulted, I shocked and he vaulted. How is it even possible? He didn't have Calm Spirit, he was screaming and yet vaulting the pallet while screaming. Did they nerf the Doctor and now his shock doesn't do anything? Or was that a cheater?

If they press the button to vault before they are shocked, they will still vault. You need to do it before they can push the button.

  • @miketheratguy said:

As killer, I wouldn't mind if gens moved a little less quickly than they currently do when more than one survivor is working on them.

As solo queue, I wouldn't mind if gens didn't take forever while working on one by myself.

    @VikingWilson said:

Goddamn it, could we do something about this? Get in one chase and a gen is done, turn around and another gen is done, down someone and yet another gen is done.

This is absolutely asinine. The winning strategy for killers is slug and tunnel and that's if they can catch someone holding W.

    Too. Much. Fun.

I disagree. BHVR actually has it opposite of how things should be. Generators should baseline take longer for a single survivor to do, but not get a penalty when multiple survivors do it (maybe even give a bonus). This would naturally "slow" gens down because the problem you are describing has nothing to do with gen speeds, it is a problem of pressure as it relates to spawns.

Try running lethal pursuer and see how survivors spawn in these matches when gens fly so fast. This happens in games where all 4 survivors spawn separate from each other on 3-4 different gens. You can't pressure that many gens at once. The fact that there is a penalty associated with survivors doing gens together, this doesn't make sense. They should encourage survivors to stay together through game mechanics so that killers are able to start the pressure much faster.

The reason why there is this perception of killers being OP against lower skill survivors and survivors being OP in high level MMR is due to the fact that when survivors play efficiently (all 4 on 4 different gens) you can't end a chase fast enough. Literally just holding W (no pallets, windows, vaults, perks, anything) will take a killer 47 seconds to down, then factor in finding a survivor, picking them up, walking to a hook, and then hooking them, the other 3 survivors probably just popped 3 gens. In lower skill games, survivors are often more "scared" of the killer, and tend to stay together in groups so they can hide, or feel safer while doing a gen.

If the survivors had to stay together in groups to be efficient, this means you could effectively pressure multiple survivors at once and they wouldn't be as encouraged to spread out as much. It also will exemplify and encourage the aspect of survivors playing as a team.

Oh I had no idea I had to ask for the refound for a game that went on sale after I bought it normal price, thanks for that.

I'm not sure on the exact time frame, might be in an FAQ they have somewhere, but the latest i did it personally once was 4 or 5 days and then it went on sale for a steam sale once.

  • @miketheratguy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2440107#Comment_2440107

In your example I would feel cheated, yes. And if we were talking about a literal hour's difference I think that BHVR would probably at least consider your plight. But that's not what's going on here and sadly, regardless of whether I feel cheated, my feelings aren't enough to obligate the provider of what I purchased to refund said purchase just because of my own unfortunate timing.

JUST before this sale was announced - like honestly three days ago - I was looking at the skin I wanted for Nancy and literally had my finger on the button, about to make the purchase. But then I told myself "nah, there may be a sale someday. I like this outfit, but I don't NEED this outfit. I'll wait and see if I get a better deal". Sure enough, I did. Would I have been really upset if I'd paid the full ten dollars for the outfit instead of six (which is allegedly 50% off because of fuzzy math)? Absolutely. Would I try to see if I could do anything about it? Sure. But I would also have to be readily prepared that I wouldn't get anywhere, because BHVR isn't responsible for when I choose to make my purchases.

As a consumer I'm on your side. But as someone who tries to see both sides of a situation, I totally understand their position as well. If they refunded everyone who bought an item 24 hours before a sale started, then the people who bought the item 30 hours before the sale will be pissed off. And if THEY get refunded then the people who bought it 48 hours before the sale will be pissed off. And on and on it goes. The line has to be drawn somewhere, and it's easiest to make that line the actual point of purchase. You see the cost, you decide whether it's worth it, or whether you'd rather wait. That's the consumer's choice.

You missed the edit, but also keep in mind that it doesn't make sense to not honor it. Research shows that when you do this kind of thing for customers they are more likely to spend money a second time because they have confidence in their purchases from you.

  • @OldHunterLight said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2440107#Comment_2440107

2 years later is not 1 hour later.

And I have never received a refound for a game that went on sale right after I bought it on steam.

And yes it feels bad but you want them to give you money for a chapter you already owned for 2 years.

I can give another example, I bought clothes 2 years ago, I saw that they have the same clothes on sale, so I can return my already used and worn clothes and expect them to fully refound so I can buy the exact same thing again but cheaper and with a benefit.

Also it is in the eula.

OP never gave a time frame.

To get the refund on steam you have to ask for it, but they will honor it.

2 years is a different story obviously.

How is that scummy? Imagine this, you/your parents, as Idk if you work forced you to pay back to your workplace, like let's say that you make 10 bucks an hour, and you have to give 5 back because of unexpected stuff.

Would you accept and pay back? Or would you complain about it?.

If you pay back you lose your time.

    If you complain nothing happens.

Company wise, having a sale usually is bad since they can lose money.

That is a terrible example. A better one is this.

Imagine you buy something for $10, and an hour later, the company puts that thing on sale for $5, do you not feel a bit cheated there? A good company that cares about the customer will actually give you back the $5 because you bought it so close to the sale. In fact, most gaming companies will, Valve does that for steam, League of Legends, DotA, Blizzard etc.

The other aspect though is BHVR not doing it doesn't make sense. Research actually shows that customers tend to spend more money if you do this type of thing for them because it gives them more confidence in purchasing things from you.

Though I do see where you are coming from and even though they werent exact of time details, I just don't think the OP was genuinely scammed. Unlucky for sure, and refunding him just means that they'll have to do the same for others.

Sure, but morally, it is the right thing to do.

  • @WeenieDog said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2439864#Comment_2439864

I wouldn't call a company scummy because a customer was being impatient.

OP didn't give details, but for example, someone thought the sale was the 10% off, and then today the 50% off started, and there was terrible communication around it. Additionally it wasn't clear from the beginning how or where the sale would work.

  • That might be true, but it's still pretty scummy don't you think? If you want to do right by the customer it makes sense to give them the refund so they can buy the discount. It actually has a net benefit for corporations as well because people tend to be more willing to spend money if they think the company is treating them fairly.

Try and stay near other survivors, and hide and let them get chased, then just follow the killer around and hope they don't spot you. You basically have to throw the game, although that is pretty much true for most of these dumb challenges.

We don't know the wording of the licensing agreement. If I were BHVR, I wouldn't risk it - not without consulting an army of lawyers, anyway.

Correct. This is why I'm asking. Because we don't know. It's a legitimate question and I don't appreciate you being negative about it.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2434445#Comment_2434445

The reason why you license a character is because you own the rights to it. Even if the license expires, that doesn't give you the right to create something borderline identical to the source material to replace it - that's how copyright violations happen.

I'm talking about functionality. I could care less about the look of the killer. I'm talking about the function. Someone in the thread mentioned making a werewolf that lunges and digs in the ground. It could FUNCTION the same as demogorgon but still be a different killer.

  • @BioX said:

considering the immense amount of money they earn with this game vs the work/investment its pretty crazy to not just pony up the doe to keep the license, even if it means its not profitable, but just to make a stand, to stand behind your product.

Epic makes insane amounts of money with Fortnight? what do they do? give back, they make their engines free to use and up the price point to where they start asking a portion of the profit of a game made by it and they retroactively paid devs back that used their engine when the price point was lower.

Guess not every company can be like Epic when business is good.....

It's likely not money related, at least not directly. It is no secret that netflix is trying to get into games, it would make sense for them to make a game around one of their most successful franchises. It wouldn't make sense for them to keep that sort of thing in DBD as it would "in theory" compete with a potential game they want to make.

  • @Orion said:

If there were plans for this, I'm pretty sure publicly saying so would constitute some kind of license violation, since you're saying "I'm not renovating the license, but I'm just going to make something else that's just similar enough that nothing's gonna change on my end, but you don't get paid".

if the license is not being renewed there really isn't a violation there, there is no longer an agreement. The agreement most likely (from knowing a bit how licensing works for these types of things) is about the likeness of the character, not how it functions within the game. The only thing there is that for example with Freddy, the license holder was probably like "ok cool, but he is a dream killer so he has to do something with dreams and people being asleep" outside of that BHVR probably can do w/e they want.

Unless you mean like, they would wait until after the license officially expires to announce something because technically it could violate the license now which still holds until w/e date.

  • @DrStone said:

    Why?

It would make the whole situation even more sad. Like yea let's make a new killer but with an already existing kit.

It would be boring and a waste of a new killer. Plus it would be like a salt to the wound for everyone who likes Stranger Things or just Demo.

It would effectively be a skin not a full killer. They have the functionality of demo, they literally just create the "legally acceptable knockoff" and make that the base killer, then make the demo stuff a skin, similar to some of the other stuff like the CryptTV skins that are pretty different from the base skins.

Also, if you read more than 2 sentences, i literally answer "why" it affects the actual gameplay.

  • Different game, different devs. Nothing legally stops them from doing this, and that entire game was caught up in legal issues whereas this would just be a single license.

This is because I haven't had much Ruthless or Merciless Killer results. It's all Brutal Killer here as the best I can do against a Good Surv team is a 2 kill.

    I don't remember if I've made a thread like this before (probably have so I guess I'm trying again) but I figured I'd ask to see if there's any top secret tricks to not go down after 5 seconds in chase. All the advice I've heard before (stay tight to corners in case he bumps into them, etc) is stuff I'm already doing but it doesn't really seem to help me much, and I don't know if it's necessarily my looping skills in general, since I don't have a problem with any other killer like this ;-;

I'll take being able to do anything on hook besides hitting skill checks.

I never understood the argument that people don't like getting tunneled. Like, if you aren't being chased by the killer, you get to hold m1 on something. The chase is the fun part of the game. I'm glad if i get tunneled, means i pissed them off enough to chase me out of the game and i get to play the best part of the game.

I partially agree. The laceration decay time was a good change in my opinion as it actually helps him where he's weak. But I'm not sure about being able to throw knives faster. It did feel a bit clunky after his 5.1.0 changes but it might, again, make him even stronger in the open.

I think they increased his throwing speed so he can down people before they get to his weak areas (killer shack, high loops, etc) as a way to help him where he's weak. But it indirectly makes him a lot stronger out in the open again.

I'll be trying these new changes soon to see. But I'm expecting a lot more DCs each game than I've already been getting.

That's how killers work though. Some killers have powers that are good at loops, others have powers that are good in the open. Why is it a problem if he is strong in the open but weak at loops like shack? That's literally his intended design.

I don't care, this is video evidence showing how busted and annoying bloodlust is.

The game was already over at that point, it didn't matter. Any situation where bloodlust 3 "matters" in terms of getting downed, you just let 3 other survivors sit on gens for 45 seconds, meaning you just lost 3 gens when you factor in picking them up, finding a hook, etc.

For a while with my two original mains(Still with them) Hillbilly and Hag I brought at least 1 slowdown. But, they’re good enough and I’m good enough with them I don’t need gen defense anymore. And Hag Agitation, Sloppy Butcher, Blood Echo(No E allowed) and Make Your Choice. Brown setting speed & Range. They’re fun builds while still being strong for their powers. Not there yet with Ghostface and Nemesis. Haven’t gotten good enough with them yet and unsure if they need them regardless. But hopefully they don’t. But, anyone else have fun and good no gen defense builds?

    Try an endgame build:

NOED + Remember Me + No way Out + Any (i prefer BBQ for points/having some sort of information. It also allows you to chain hooks in the endgame with noed.

I feel like this is the best second Anti tunneling perk out there. Old DS was miles better but with the new one it’s much closer. And Second Wind only takes a short 20 seconds to activate enough time to reach a loop before the killer can get you. Eliminating their chance for easy pressure. Additionally counters perk around slowing heals. And allows you to immediately get back on a gen while being safe unlike New DS. And encourages good teamwork. Also perk works twice. So I feel the two perks are extremely close and paired with DS is a great combo. But, unfortunately like many of the perks devs improved great still isn’t seen as much as it should. Anyone else run this it’s now part of my build and it’s great.

The problem with second wind is that you have to heal someone 100% of the way. If they start healing and then you walk up on them and finish it, it won't activate, if they have resurgence, you only get half. It should be changed so that all you have to do is "finish healing a survivor for 1 health state" and make it work with for the people.

And how can we even say it’s a preference, I’ve seen this res stretched to 16:9 and it’s absolutely awful

It feels like they can’t even hide their blatant bias for certain killers. Half of the anniversary screens were about spirit, so it’s not surprising that they have been silent on spirit’s problematic power for years.

Billy literally needed some add ons nerfed, and he would’ve been completely fine. But no, they ruined him and one of the fun killers that was common to go against is gone. The only thing keeping them from reverting some of the changes is embarrassment that they made a horrible nerf, and that’s a silly way to handle balancing of an online game.

It’s sad that legion is way more common than Billy, they did him & everyone who invested time into him dirty.

"We really like how billy performs, he has solid counterplay, is fun to play as, and also is fun to play against. His gameplay is engaging for both sides and we like where he is at in terms of strength."

"So here is this big nerf to billy."

I have watched plenty of Tournaments and I never see Heavy Camping or Tunneling then again I watch people that are really good at the game like Monto Noob3 and a few others and I never see any of that. So I have no idea who you're watching that does this but they may have their reasons.

Now to the main thing, you said it seems like if you're not using Perks if I understand this correctly then that seems to be the problem there are Killer perks that slow the game down which then makes gen times longer there are even Killers other than Nurse that can put presser in the game without perks like Doctor, Legion, Sprit so on that help slow the game down so no reason for the heavy anything

NOTE: If you have links to those matches with tru3talent vs oracle please drop a link so I may watch them Thank You

Generally the tournaments that you see like that have created a special subset of rules, or some kind of point system. Like i have seen some do like "Survivors can't repair gens if they are injured" or that there is a kind of point system where the killers get more points for hooks than the do sacrifices, and survivors get points for things like totems, and winning chases, so they are less likely to rush gens so they can get more points.

The ones that go off of kills/escapes always go that way though.

Why are Killers in this game becoming worse at playing? It's like all they do now is Camp, Tunnel, or just Slug Survivors. Like some games, I get in the start and finish before a Generator is even touched, and if one is even being worked on. Now I play both sides Killer and Survivor but, I do play Survivor a bit more and with friends, so an SWF team but, when I do play as Killer I don't do any of that because I know what that feels like as a Survivor but if by chance I do it is because of two things one being that they have been chosen towards the end of the game and I want them to be the one to leave the game by the Exit Gate or two they block my attack to save someone else. I just need to know how come Killers are now being absolute trash at this game than what they use to back when I started playing this game back when they released Stranger Things DLC.

Mathematically the game is heavily survivor sided. Holding shift + w, not using any pallets, not using any windows, not using any perks, no looping, no nothing, it will take the killer 47 seconds to down you. Factor in the time it took to find the survivor, picking them up, walking to a hook, and hooking them. You easily add 15-20 seconds, which makes it 62-67 seconds And you probably just lost 3 gens by the time you can even walk to the next survivor even if you knew exactly where they were.. Rinse and repeat.

At the highest level play, only nurse is viable. Watch any tournament, and if the killer is not nurse, they will heavily camp and tunnel the first survivor because it is the only way to lock in kills.

The recent tru3talent vs oracle matches made a lot of survivors realize this, so red ranks generally is just shift + w now.

I would rather them keep DC penalty off. And make it so if a player disconnects they pip down an entire pip regardless of what points they have on the system.

That doesn't do anything when pips don't matter.

Hell it would have the opposite effect, just DC 25 games and now you get to play with rank 25s..

    That's not being competitive.

There's a difference between being competitive (using the most effective tactics possible to win) and cheating.

I for one considered Streched Res to be cheating, which is why I'm not impressed of Oracle when I watch their videos. They are good survivors, just wish they actually used intended resolutions when playing.

If the devs don't ban for it, it can be assumed that it is allowed.

I just wanna know what people currently think of her, and her current state. I think shes completely fine as its a skill vs skill matchup

As a nurse main with 1.5k hours.

She is by far the best killer in the game and doesn't just need a nerf, but a complete rework (like old freddy to new freddy), a whole new power. Her power by design is just broken and will forever be broken unless they nerf her to complete uselessness, but even then her power is probably still too broken.

As the above person said though. She is the only viable killer at the highest level of play (spirit/blight/hag can also do decent but still have a hard time) in that she gets to a 50% win rate. Until that is fixed, they should leave her as is.

It sucks if they do. I was working on a full text mod for the Resident Evil and Silent Hill chapters to make them more immersive and true to the games. People were doing great mods to build immersion with cosmetic modifications and music mods from killers' respective IPs (like getting chased to this music).

If anyone was modifying the game to make things easier, that's obviously not good. But it was a way for us to be creative and fix things that are never going to see change in any official capacity. I think it's a copout to say people were only doing it to cheat.

Modifying chase music can actually give an advantage though. The devs have stated that chase music is setup to also be part of the balance of the game.
