So are they hidden then? Because they are for me.

This is intentional. You can't escape a cage by yourself to begin with, so why should deliverance?

If Devs want a perk to have a counter, it should be through the opposing side perks.
Take away Trail of torment from being highlighted and perks like Alert could be its counter.
Same way I see Iron maiden as a counter to survivors using head-on , hiding from BBQ, and Inner Strength.
This would be the best solution, I think. It would pseudo buff perks that aren’t used right now.

I really like Deathslinger, Demo, and PHs music.

quote key and ds, but exhaustion perks are ok tbh since there are so many addons or perks killer can bring to exhaust ppl.
Lets see, there are very few addons that cause exhaustion: Huntress and Clown. And only two highly gimmicky killer perks that affects them. While I still think exhaustion perks are fine, I will still say they are strong.
You chose a weird time to resurrect this thread.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a ps5 version with updated graphics... But the current PS can barely handle this game as is, I literally can't play on PS4 anymore because it runs PS4 so hot it flashes off.. now my PS4 always runs hot no matter what game
That wasn't what I was commenting about... I was commenting about the death garden mask for meg.

The ranking system only tells you time in the game during that month, nothing more... and it resets. It is not an indicator of performance. At all. Especially since you can easily pip, and people can be absolute potatoes while being in the highest rank. Confusing rank with skill is a mistake.
Devotion, on the other hand is tied directly to total time. This cannot be manipulated. There are no ways to actually farm XP, unlike emblems. If anything, Devotion is closer to your amount of skill than ranks are, as the more time you spend in the game total, the more experienced, and better, at the game you should be.

Way to dodge the original poster's question.
Good job, Behaviour.
There is a thing called selective deniability and confidentiality. You should look those up.
-
Devotion is the amount of time you have spent in the game. Unlike ranks, it actually means something. That being said, it shouldn't stop players from arguing their case. But, @DudeDelicious bringing it up does raise a valid point: Both you and the OP are yellow rank killers vs. white/purple survivors. They may not know how to use the information to the best of their ability. That, and many of them do not have competent builds yet. Does that not seem a little off to you? As in, a little unreliable for your argument?

First game was as Huntress. Loved the power that killer had at the time... still like the power when I play well.

I wish they'd shorten the timer to about 45 seconds instead. 60 is a bit too generous. I'm wary of going much less as DS does at least make killers think twice about legit tunneling.
If anything, DS encourages tunneling because once it's gone, it's gone for good.

That's bs, Not a "hostile action" my ass it's literally the action that leads right to the hostile action lmao, Devs either need to change that for death slinger or make pyramid head keep it as well, They can't have it both ways where it only applies to some killers and not others smh.
Its not. He literally toned down its lethality just because he wanted them alive. I was explaining it based on what I think the logic is.
They could just make it effect only basic attacks... but that would be broken on Bubba or Billy, who have reliable one shots and dont need their basic attacks.

The entity takes killers and survivors at random times not at the very ending or very beginning usually so maybe he can grab springtrap from when he was locked behind the wall or when he escaped
That still doesn’t solve the continuity errors... oh, what the hell, they got Steve and Nancy, they don’t need to explain that stuff.

Oh, I hadn't read his lore. I don't see how being a clown would make him morbidly obese?
He wasn’t actually a clown during his circus years. He used a disguise while being a circus worker (he was actually in the back working with stuff) so that people would approach him.
Couple that with substance abuse and becoming a horrible (not to mention lazy) person... and you get the Clown as he is now.

Clown strikes me as a person who struggled with weight their whole life. I don't believe he was ever athletic...
Lore dictates otherwise. He used to be a track star, and gained weight after joining the circus.

I actually remember 9 quite vividly. I don’t know if that counts, since it is very... niche.
Halloween 3 is interesting. A bond-like thriller instead of a horror movie. Sure, it’s gory, but it’s not that bad. It’s from a time when John Carpenter wanted an anthology series with the Halloween franchise, not just about Myers... I’m sure you can tell how well that worked.
And I like the Star Wars prequels.
I don’t really watch a lot of movies, tbh. They just don’t interest me much anymore.

Check this out, and see for yourself. Volumetric anything only makes the graphics look better. That's it. There is no advantages that anyone would gain by turning it off other than huge FPS increase. I'm sure you won't read the whole article, or even bother to look at the images, so let me just cite this out in hopes that you read this post at least.
"Typically, Volumetric Lighting and Volumetric Fog can be some of the most demanding graphics settings found in games, full stop. Typical frame rate drops from turning up Volumetric settings vary from 5-40% FPS drops depending on the game and how intense the effects are. "
Mist =/= volumetric fog. Anyone who is against settings like this has absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Also, stop with the "Get a better PC." There are people out there who can save up 10 or 20 bucks a month at best. Stop being an entitled POS.
Honestly, reading this and finding out more about the system at work really helps me understand why my Xbox wants to explode when playing DBD. Thank you.
Now I want this option as well.

I think it's long been known that Plague has issues with earning BP and Emblems. Her score events related to her power offer very small rewards, and her common strategy of keeping all survivors in a broken status means that she also tends to earn less hits towards Brutality/Malicious (something that the one-shot killers occasionally have trouble with).
I think the brief cooldown she faces on canceling her power is fine; I don't like when killers are able to completely 'fake' the use of their power with no penalty to zone survivors (though the only really irritating cases of this are Deathslinger and sometimes Billy). However, I do think that pressing the button to use Vile/Corrupt Purge at all should automatically charge it to the minimum point where the action would go through, regardless of if the player let go of the button early (though they could cancel it before this like normal). At the very least, I'd like some kind of indicator in the charge bar for the minimum time necessary to not have the power auto-cancel.
Kinda hoping they'll implement something similar for Leatherface's chainsaw, but at the top 25% of his rev bar. I've had so many occasions of trying to use his power just after the bar filled only to have him cancel the Frenzy instead.
You are going to love PH, then. XD

Even with this, survivors will just ban a killer that is too strong. Oh, don’t like Spirit, Billy, or Nurse? Let’s ban them!
Eventually they are going to have to go against those killers, and when they do...
A completely different question: If survivors can ban a killer, can a killer ban survivor perks, as there are perks I am sure killers don’t want to go against as well?

If you must change it..I had an idea..reduce her hatchets to 3 base but when she hits a survivor they receive mangled till healed, exhaustion for about say 20 seconds, and hindered for 20 seconds..then..her final hatchet only becomes a one shotting axe..makes the addon cooler and since you only get one chance to insta down it could lead to neat plays
That seems like a random combination of effects. And overly convoluted... which is going to introduce a lot of bugs due to the mess of code this game already is.

Ranks kind of don't matter though.
A lot of survivors at red/purple ranks don't know the basics of the game. They're really scared and hide all the time like a brand new player, they just don't know how to run a killer, or they're just really bad at making decisions. A red rank survivor should know that self-caring in the corner of the map isn't a good idea, and hinders the team. A red rank survivor should know that when a killer facecamps someone, it's better to go and work on gens, rather than crouch next to the hook for 30 seconds and accomplish absolutely nothing in the process.
I've seen a rank 9 Spirit yesterday. She had 100 hours in the game. She was really bad in chases, and never really pressured gens. She also camped and tunneled (which is supposed to hinder your emblem gains, mind you). And yet, she still is so close to being purple ranks (which are supposed to be the second-best in terms of skill indication), with only having 100 hours in the game.
Pipping isn't difficult either, especially since the black pips have such low requirements, that you've got to actively go out of your way to derank, because otherwise it's very unlikely to happen.
It doesn't help that the current form or rank reset doesn't really set people back at all either. Once you get to red ranks, you stay there forever, unless you drop the game for at least 3 months.
At the current state of the game, rank represents how much you played during that specific month, rather than how good you are at the game.
This is essentially the problem. The emblem system dictates how you play in order to pip, while other methods may not. That, and the inherent balance problems contribute to rank not having any real value.

People wont stand behind you while you fake a trap...nobody would fall for that and youd just waste charges..and a flashlight can pop plenty of traps before running out..it takes no real time at all and it's a fossil of a system that doesnt belong
No, you would be surprised by how many people would. A lot of the toxic flashlight users you mention often try to do that so they can keep looping. Makes my job easier.
Look, she has no other counters, besides immersion, and how many killers honestly want that?
-
@Blueberry said:
The vast majority of times people complain about tunneling or camping it's really a case of bad teammates making bad plays and it's easier to just blame the killer. Essentially what you said kind of.
Too many people use DS offensively tho, just like BT, abusing its intended purpose.
This. /\
And also this. \/
@HP150 said:
I feel like bad teammates are only "part" of it. Their are 3 types of DS users; people who just want to use it as 60 seconds of immunity and repair gens in the killer's face/hop in a locker mid-chase to make them question life's meaning, people with legitimate concerns over tunneling, and yes, people who are worried about bad teammates in a team-bsaed game.
Why? Because they are a part of the same coin. The survivor that brings DS ultimately wants to use it.
-
I hate playing nurse and Billy. It is just frustrating for me to get used to Nurse on console. And billy is... boring for me. I live for the perfect shot and the chain-stabs. The blink mechanic is just frustrating to me.
I hate versing billies because they always play in the most toxic way possible: including bringing NOED on a one shot killer!

You could also bait out the usage by not completing the trap? And flashlights burn out relatively quickly, so it is really a non-issue...

Absurd...if she has to stay where 1 item removes her power than I'd rather her be nerfed...at least then I can play the game
Every trap killer can have their traps removed... The only way for Hag to have her’s removed is via flashlight. That is something that not every survivor will have. Or even want to use.

Just like Wraith adapting to flashlights is to always start his uncloak behind an object so he can’t get flashed for long enough to be stunned.

Maybe the first couple of matches against a stealthkiller but that would fade quickly
Then you either have non stealthkillers were the terror radius warns you anyway so you're not only stuck pressing m1 but also stuck looking at the same wall
Or you have stealthkillers where you are bassicly playing FNAF waiting for the jumpscare to happen
Besides the whole they need to pay attention to the wiring is already in the game. Skillchecks force you to focus on the center of your screen for a short time
If you really want to add to the suspense i would rather skillchecks be made more interresting instead of forcing people to look at a wall 50% of the game
If skillchecks were something that you had to pay attention to for a longer amount of time would also lessen the attention of the survivor and make gens less boring
Similar to how PH’s cages work. Where the zones get smaller, the more complete the gen is...
-
Maybe consider making survivors oblivious when working on a gen instead. That way, they don’t get nearly as much warning, but they can still turn the camera.
-
Noob perks?
Survivor: Every second chance perk. If you use these, you will never improve, since they are a crutch. An example I can think of that is an exception is Second Wind. That one is never used/is hard to get going.
Also Windows of Opportunity, for obvious reasons. It was designed to help newer players find a vault/pallet to keep themselves safe.
Killer: Zanshin Tactics, Mindbreaker, and Beast of Prey. Their effects are so minor or unhelpful to better players that only Noobs will find that useful.
NOED isn’t actually a noob perk, not in this climate where gens can get done in very, very quickly if they get the right RNG.
Now, these perks can be used by veterans, it is just that they were designed so poorly or for new players that veterans often know of/use better options. Nothing stops one from using these, it just is my opinion.
-
I think that it could work, but they wouldn’t need whole chapters for it. Jeff could be a legendary skin kind of thing, for instance.
Slender could easily fit within his own chapter. Hell, I think that if they worked with Blue Isle Studios for it (such as for music and model design), it could be amazing.
Many of them, however, may not fit... either too weird or not good enough in quality.

Could you please explain then what the actual counterplay to freddy is?
Because staying awake doesn't really matter if you get pulled into the dream world anyway without freddy having to do anything for it.
(Not trying to sound rude,i'm just interested in your opinion)
Stealth. Not just hiding in a bush and hoping he doesn’t find you, but actually avoiding the killer and keeping your distance. That and staying awake denies half of his power.
I guess you can’t be rash against Freddy. You have to be cautious and be careful.
Why people think counterplay needs to be in everything to begin with? Survivors have a lot more to work with than killers do, and don’t need help with everything.

You can always use Spine Chill instead??? I find it very useful against no-TR killers. As for your idea, it would be an useful perk only in very specific situations but then again people go around telling you to run Calm Spirit solely to counter the Doctor so...
Not recognizing Calm Spirit as a counter to Doc’s tracking is a mistake on the survivor’s part.
-
I hate to say it, but there is literally 2 perks better than this. Spine Chill, and Premonition. There is a connection between them, they work on every killer.
-
When the game first came out, no, it wasnt. Now though? Yes, it is intended.
Looping as we know it now was a bug at the time, but one they ran with. They won’t revert now because many survivor mains have it imprinted on them.

I actually like the designs of those characters a lot. They are distinct and simple. And since they are technically under creative commons, one could use them for games like this with permission.
Jeff has a terrible story, but beHavoir could always rewrite it because creative commons. But I like the idea of him being in the game. Of course, he could just be a Legendary Cosmetic for Legion, since that is how he acts regardless.
Slender could be a manifestation of the entity if they wanted to. It would be awesome to have him in the game. Making his gameplay actually horrifying to go against would be amazing. Think Slender: The Eight Pages or Slender: the Arrival. They could change gameplay slightly like PH does.
I mean, look at Paulie Ester’s April Fool’s Slender concept. He fits on the screen perfectly fine. Hell, I’ve made a slender concept as well.
SCPs are also good candidates, like SCP 049 or SCP 096. They would fit. Of course, they would have to go through the same process as creative commons.
Overall, if done right, they could be amazing additions. People can just be apprehensive about it due to their... reputations, for lack of a better word. I think it could be great.
-
Make survivors oblivious in the cornfield. They can still see the killer, they just have to have a downside like the killer does.
