I know, I included that information in my post! I only thought to take screenshots of the side to side view, however.

I must have missed that through my skim of your post. I completely agree with you, though.

I feel like hes at the top of the bottom tier. Better than Clown and Legion, but pales in comparison to everyone else.

I find that killers places in tiers are subjective. For me, Legion, PH, and Oni are my top tier, most consistent killers.

On to the topic on hand:

If I were to buff him, I would do so via how his lore describes him: as an engineer. I would give him 2 devices by default. They can be placed on complete generators, and will have a timer of around a minute. If survivors do not disarm the device, it will break the gen completely, setting back their progress on that generator, and making another one for them to complete.

Both sides will see the aura of the device, however, the killer will see the aura as white when it starts, but turns red as the timer ticks down. Survivors will see it as the aura of a yellow gen.

Disarming the device will take roughly 30 seconds, where the timer will not be paused unless the 30 seconds exceeds the remaining time on the device. If the timer goes off within 4 meters of a survivor, they will be injured as it destroys itself. The killer would be stunned if they are within 4 m of the device when it finishes.

When a device is disarmed, it will injure the survivor who worked on it, but not put them in the dying state.

When a device is disarmed or goes off, it will take the deathslinger 45 seconds for it to replenish.

So im the one that made the post. I dont use devour as killer so obviously I'm coming from a survivor side opinion. I understand totem perks are inconsistent and can be broken early in match. But im talking about when it isn't found. Its like ok 3 hooks and if you play ur cards right u can win it all. Thats all im saying but great to hear everyone's opinion

So you bring a map, small game, and/or detectives hunch to try to find and break the bones. It is a weaker perk just because of the way hexes work, and very few maps have great totem spots to begin with.

On top of that, survivors have gen speeds and second chance perks on their side. And DH forces killers to play around it to get the most from it. It requires a lot of work and the main expectation that it will be broken, and so you will work with 3 perks instead of 4.

Sure, you can think it is a lazy perk, but it requires a lot from the killer side, which is, by definition, the opposite of lazy.

  • It needs to have a defined role. It is too versatile and way too abusable. And it doesn't do any role properly. If anything, it just is an anti-snowball perk, which there are too many of already.

Slenderman from Slender: the Arrival or any slender media for that matter.

Not from the movie, I hope.

  • A Slender: The arrival chapter and a Springtrap one. That would be best.

  • I don't think it was the side to side view people were complaining about, but the fact that stretched res could look over certain loops and make unsafe loops safer. The survivor would have all the info, yet the killer would not.

  • I love Aftercare. The amount of information it can give, but at the cost of a massive amount of skill, is invaluable in a match. It also gives information back to the other survivors.

  • It is more like they are treating the symptoms instead of the cause. Why is billy and Spirit chosen a lot at red? They can actually deal with chases quickly enough to apply pressure without a mammoth amount of effort. And why is that necessary? Because of gen times + second chance perks. Balancing these would mean a few killers would not be needed to have the chance to win.

  • DS and BT do not need to be applicable at all times. That is why they are meta perks, because they still work in the vast majority of cases. Perks should be situational, and help you do certain things. Want to open the doors faster? Bring Wake Up, or Spine Chill. Want to have a head start in a chase? Use sprint burst to go a quarter across a map instantly...

It should be up to the player to make the most out of a perk, not the perk itself being stupidly broken. IE: Skill over inherent strength. Right now, DS and BT have the problem of that a braindead player can use the perks just like a good player, and you couldn't tell the difference.

  • I think most people forget that the Hag is essentially a mix of a Wendigo and Blair witch in one killer.

  • Maybe dont be predictable. That is the main strength of spirit. Getting rid of audio is just going to make her worse than Legion or Old Freddy.

  • Well, even that depends. New Nurse still can if the survivors are either arrogant or potatoes.

  • I guess they made more mistakes than their second chance perks could handle.

  • @anarchy753 said:

100%, I'd prefer things that look bad mixed and matched but are ALLOWED to be mixed and matched, over a set where I can't have any choice at all. Will not be spending money on ANY of these locked sets. Especially since those so far haven't been anything WORTH being locked as of yet, they were just too lazy to do a shaved texture on the back of Nea's head.

That is literally the reason. A friend of mind knows of the glitch to mix and match with that nea set, and there is just a random skin texture back there. It is like they didn't try.

  • I think it is incredibly greedy on BHVRs part. It has been shown to be ok for them (not so much pressured by Kojima, or the owners of Silent Hill, ever since the Nea set). They already have a battle pass, as well as a massively overpriced store, why make it even more money hungry?

  • Interesting, I might have to try that sometime.

I actually use it with Remember Me and Furtive Chase to go for a 4 man Rancor kill. My top has been a 3k, but It was close.

This picture proves nothing, I don't even know if it's your ID. Stream some high level gameplay is the best way to prove yourself.

I disagree, survivor nerfs were things that should never been in the game to begin with. Kill nerfs? Yeah..............

I mean, it has their profile name right below the BP count... and it matches the profile on the forums. They seem to have provided your proof. You now need to prove to them that the picture proves nothing to anyone who might view it.

Suppose you are right about the picture proving nothing... how does showing some high level gameplay act as proof? It could be easily taken from someone else, as you claim the photo is...

You forgot the momentum mechanic. The mechanic that does not allow survivors to fast vault from right next to the window, or repeatedly (before entity blockers). That was a pretty decent nerf to vaults... although it doesn't affect pallets like it does windows.

What killer nerfs are you thinking of? The new billy one? The nurse basekit nerf?

  • There needs to be something, but increasing the time survivors stay on gens would be boring/frustrating for them and not very helpful for killer, as actually good survivors will not be fussed about it.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

Nemesis has a decent following now with a dynamically shifting obsession.

Deathbound is really nice with killers that like to wound.

Nemesis/Rancor is my meta at the moment for a reason!

  • Survivor: DS, BT, Exhaustion perk that isnt Head On, and Unbreakable, still the same meta build because the devs wont do anything to resolve the core issues (whether or not due to outside pressures is another issue entirely)... and Pyramid Head isn't as widespread, making them still relatively strong.

Killer: BBQ, Pop, Sloppy are all still popular, Ruin is still kinda meh, but more people are using it now.

The perk choices are still a reflection of the issues of the game. As there are so many second chance perks, that there is no incentive to become skillful, and killers still have to tryhard because of gen times. I still think certain perks shouldn't work together, but they are never going to do that, so the meta (for survivor) will never change.

You practice with it. Dowsey is one of the best players in the world and Billy is his second Main after Spirit. Even with the reworks, he can still Chainsaw sprint across the map to down a survivor at a gen. Dowsey still says that Billy is an A Tier rank. Nurse got a rework too cause her powers were very OP. Nurse and Spirit are S rank killers. A good Nurse or Spirit will demolish a team. A bad Nurse or Spirit will give the team an easy win. It all requires practice. Blinking is now balanced by a cooldown that forces Nurse to lose line of sight of the survivor if she misses.

Maybe, but it again links up to the question, why were they nerfed to begin with? They even said basekit billy was fine, but then they give him this mechanic for no reason, same with nurse, everyone basically agreed (except for people that ) that basekit nurse was fine, but then they slapped a cooldown on it. Its like the devs don't actually take feedback from high level players when making decisions about balancing.

    Its another nurn

And, on top of that, revving causes so much heat off the bat, that it nerfs really cruising around with his saw. So aiming basically limits the amount of time on the saw... you see where the problem is yet?

Not to mention, they took away many of the billy techniques they claimed they didn't. More people dislike the billy nerf than actually like it. The only people who really like it are those who never play killer, or those who just want to bully killers.

  • Here is how I would rework BT:

Survivors must be healthy to use it.

If the unhooked survivor gets hit within 15 seconds of being unhooked in the TR, the unhooker would become broken for 60 seconds. This would encourage survivors to be smarter with it then just: hur dur, I'll be dumb and unhook in their face.

There needs to be a drawback, not just a straight buff.

  • @Accullla said:

"rank" is a comparable metric. If all killers are A rank, no killers are A rank

The flaw with that is that the rank system he uses is to judge a certain criteria. Whether that is 4king or 2 pips, idk, but he is judging on a subjective criteria.

And, if all killers were just as good as each other in the right hands, then most of the complaints about balance might go away.

  • @Deadsea said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/170947/billy-is-still-fine

He is saying what I've been saying that the Chainsaw is still deadly, yet you just have to time it right.

How can you time it right when you can't line up a shot well? They nerfed all that made billy skillful, but made the braindead *rev a saw behind them* strat the only one he can use.

  • Oh, yes, just slug them, when they have two ways they can realistically get back up - Unbreakable + Soul Guard, so Slugging may not even work that well anymore, on top of that, there is a perk to get off the hook for free, or someone else to get you off the hook in front of the killer with no consequences, as well as a free heal for genrushing, since the clock is on the survivors side unless the killer plays really scummy or uses Pop. Yeah, the Exhaustion perk/second chance perk meta is really fun to play against and makes survivor way too easy.

And then they nerf Billy. Isn't the balance great in this game sometimes? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I think you put in a lot of effort into the concept! Seems balanced to me. : )

  • Lets see, the Matthew McCote classic is a good choice, but I have to say I like Amile-Sophia's best. It is actually rather heartwarming.

  • Fixing the locations is not going to actually fix the core issues with hex perks. It might make it easier to find them as there are less places to put them.

I do, however, think that some of them are really bad. Disturbed ward is a prime example of this.

  • But everyone can see its aura... and recover it before it is lost... I don't see how this is a problem. And it is a shadow nerf to items that is desperately needed, as they are way too forgiving...

Not only that, it needs a basic attack to make it work.

  • Honestly, Idk. Their power is nonlethal, and only gives info. Why it decreases on a basic attack, I will never know.

  • I find it funny that the nerf would effect his mindgames and his more interesting playstyles, such at cracked billy or double marks billy, but leaves the braindead playstyle of: rev behind a survivor, intact... which I find really dumb and frustrating to go against.

  • I will just adress your first point, because that is all that really matters here. (I agree with 2 and 3, myself.)

Horror is subjective. Hell, one man was able to define a subgenre that inspired this game. I am sure you are familiar with Lovecraft? And the main fear that everything has when put together is... fear of the unknown.

We do not fear the killers in the game. They have no unknowns, and are bound by the rules put in place by the devs on what they can and cannot do.

So by claiming this is a horror game is just... false. It has a horror aesthetic, but it is inherently not scary... at least for most killers. Hag, GF, and Pig can be scary to me, but that is because there is a sense of unknown about them. You don't know where they are. They could be anywhere, and that adds a sense of tension to the match.

Something very similar to FNaF. It is about the tension and the suspense. You cannot fight back, you cant even move, you just have to react to your environment. And when against springtrap, you have no defense in the game. Except distractions and diversions. A sense of dread is in the air when you realize that he hides from the cameras, something no other adversary tries to do in the series.

I don't find Pyramid Head scary. If he was in the context of the original game, maybe. But not here. And he is probably the only killer remotely close to Springtrap in the game atm.

And, moving on to the fanbase, it is true that they used to be kids. But FNaF has been around for 5 years. Many of them (including myself) have grown up into the target demographic of DBD: teens & adults. Sure, some FNaF books might be targeted to kids, but he has built a franchise around the original concept. Which is impressive for one guy to do by himself.

Robbie debuted in Silent Hill 3, many years before FNAF existed.

Again, I said that maybe my perception is a generational thing, because I did not grow up with Silent Hill. Which I mention in my previous comment.

  • There are many counters to BBQ. If you get found by it, it is your fault for not taking precautions against it. You can always learn how to go against them by going to the wiki, as it has all the information in the game in one place.

There is also a thing called observation. If you get hooked and see the killer do a scan, you can guess that they have it. Most competent players can figure out what perks a killer has just by observing them.

Wraith bell is so unscary its not even funny. Hag is not a horror scare, its just a regular scare (dont know how to say it in english but i hope you get what i mean) I dont know whats scary about spirit, but i kinda agree with GF and Pig. But compared to myers both of them dont look very scary.

GFs mask always makes me smile more then being scared and amanda is just too tiny to be scary and the Roar always being the same... dunno.

I think going against good players who know those killers would change your mind. But that is your opinion.

  • Both would be awesome, but Springtrap might be more likely to happen, as the rights to the series are with one person, and that person is not Disney... who can be really greedy when it comes to their licenses.

I think you are forgetting Hag, Spirit, Pig, Wraith, and GF. They can be pretty scary when played well.

  • The Hag is a Wendigo. I am pretty sure, anyway. Fits the description.

I would love a plague doctor or a knight killer. That would be awesome, seeing some decayed, rotting knight chasing someone... something like a dark souls undead.

  • It is more the juxtaposition of a happy concept, such as clowns, with horror. This cultural shift really happened around the time Stephen King wrote IT... and there was an actual clown killer in a point in history. His name escapes me, but the reputation of clowns took a nose dive after that.

  • @scenekiller said:

My question is, why is Springtrap such a hot topic today? Did I miss something?

(Admittedly, I don't really keep up on much so it's possible)

It has been a resurgence of an idea come up with months ago. There is a growing number of people who would like to see (even if it is only just) him in the game, as with Pyramid Heads introduction to the game, it allows true video game killers entrance to it. I think it could work really well, but I am biased.

  • @MiniPixels said:

DbD is a love letter to classic horror icons, the only newer licenses we have gotten was Bill from LFD who canonically made sense for the game and is a part of a cult classic game from 2008 and Stranger Things which was also a love letter to classic slashers, FNAF's main audience is children, something DbD's devs and community is very against, regardless of your opinion on the subject a Springtrap chapter is something only FNAF fans would appreciate, and not something that your average horror fan is going to look at highly, people are gonna be disappointed by it's announcement (because let's be honest having FNAF in the game before Alien, IT, Jason ETC, is just a kick in the nuts.) and it most likely wouldn't sell well compared to other bigger horror licenses. Whether the game is even considered horror is up for debate but I won't get into that now, but it just doesn't fit the theme that DbD has always stood for, it's a game of appreciation for the originals. People saw Silent Hill and went nuts because they figured this meant that any video game could make it into DbD despite the fact that we've had Bill from LFD2 for the better part of 3 years, Silent Hill made sense and fit so well because it's one of the original horror games that kicked off horror in gaming so it made sense. I personally am not a fan of IT, I think the original movie is pretty good and hope to god that if it's added it is in it's original form, but even if it was added as the modern adaptation I wouldn't be mad because it MAKES SENSE, it's a franchise that got it's roots in a cult classic film that has a very strong following. This is the point where I stop because I'm tired of ranting, I've played the games I think they're interesting and the lore is engaging but it's not something meant for DbD in mine and many others opinion.

Stranger things is more of a Mystery/Sci-fi series than a slasher, especially with the direction it is heading. Saw is also more of a Detective Thriller, especially the first one.

  • @Falkner09 said:

While I'm not interested in FNAF, are there really people saying he wouldnt fit? he's literally a killer who got turned into a monster.

seems like he'd a be an inferior Robbie the rabbit though.

Robbie is more of a knockoff of him though. Maybe it is a generational thing, but that is all I see when I see him. That, and a waste of money on a really bad set of skins for Legion.

  • On the topic of lightborn, I think it will be more useful for killers overall if it acts like it blinds, since that will trick survivors.

  • @ManyAchievables said:

I'm gonna be excited to sometimes use it on Wraith.

It'll just be a giant "no u" whenever someone tries to Lightburn me.

I don't think lightborn will stop lightburn... or ever did in the first place.

  • My reasoning is this:

Nemesis + Rancor is my favorite perk duo right now due to the ludicrous gen speed...

Nemesis triggers via stuns and blinds... which brings us to the new lightborn.

If lightborn acts like it blinds, but it doesn't, then it will be fine because Nemesis will trigger, however, if Lightborn does not trigger Nemesis, then I simply won't run it.

  • My only concern is if it would work with Nemesis... because it doesn't seem like it would. : /

It's not an insult, I'd say it about any online petition because that is what happens with most and why they are not taken seriously. Unless you have some way to prove someone isn't just signing it with multiple accounts/bots there's no way to know if it's someone signing once or a kid that has time on their hands to create a bunch of email accounts and keep signing the petition to pad the numbers.

It is an insult because it is saying that a portion of those peoples signatures are not legitimate when you don't have the proof to reinforce your claim.
