It hurts killers more, I think, but it definitely affects both sides.
And that is why they will say it is fine...

Really? I thought they added on to what Knockout already had.
They added an M1 down requirement, making it worse on the killer it came with. XD

For the most part, the Entity doesn't like taking survivors from worlds where magic is a widely known phenomenon. I think Kate represents the upper limit for the amount of magical knowledge in a single person that the Entity is willing to abduct. Additionally, it seems that worlds that don't grasp the power of magic are the exception, not the rule.
Societies with little technology will almost always believe in some form of magic as an explanation of the world around them. Most universes in the omniverse go on to codify those rules in their academies of magic. In order to find someone ignorant of magic throughout the omniverse, you would need to find a society that failed to codify these rules, and instead used other methods (conventional physics) to understand the world around them. Think of Kate, whose ancestors absolutely believed in the power of magic, verses Kate herself, who perceived her gift as a "Muse," a much less overtly magical understanding of her gift than the Seer classification of her ancestors.
Even in the advanced parts of our world, the complete disbelief of any kind of magic whatsoever is a recent development. If we're willing to classify religious beliefs that have metaphysical elements as magic, then it's only recently that the general public stopped believing in--for example--demonic possession as being the leading cause of severe mental illness.
It could be argued that it was only after the 1950s (or any given survivor's local techno-cultural equivalent) that people become so completely, irreparably separated from all forms of magic that they became ideal targets for the Entity. This would also be a nifty way to understand why there's no one in the Entity's realm that was born in one of the many modern day villages that still live now the same as they did 3 millennia ago.
This also implies some interesting things about the time periods the Entity grabbed the killers from. It implies that the Entity has a higher tolerance for magical knowledge in its killer servants than its survivor cattle. The Hag and Plague, in particular, explicitly knew about the existence of magic as a concrete force in the world long prior to coming to serve the Entity, and Frank strongly suspected magic's existence. In killers, does the Entity consider knowledge of magic without significant training in magic desirable, even? That's getting too speculative for me, but it's an interesting new question that my explanation raises.
@bjorksnas The Entity grabbed Plague after it grabbed Legion, despite the Plague being thousands of years earlier than the Legion. The Entity exists outside of time and is not be bound by any requirement to only grab survivors from a linear timeline which it must also travel along. In other words, the Entity could grab someone in 2007, wait 3 centuries, and then grab someone from 2004.
The thing is, we do not know anything about how the entity takes people besides very specific cases. For instance, you say that Plague was taken after legion... how do we know that? There are countless more killers in the fog then we see in game. How do we know that your claim is true in this case? And not, that the Plague was taken before legion, but just not known?

This is a horrible excuse
Imagine a random person who has no knowledge of generators trying to fix a gen. Yeah, doesn't make sense, does it? Oh wait
There is such a thing as learning, and I used a caveman as an example of a person who could not learn it. Similar things would occur with anybody before the invention of cars, as they wouldn't have any reference for what a generator like that is.
For example, 16th century individuals would not have a clue what a gen is... the only exception that might work would probably be Leonardo da Vinci, but that was because he was a genius for his time. Sure, some of the principles were wrong, but I am sure he could learn to correct those when in contact with others.

Ok, one more time:
It's not bias. Why? Because the perk for the longest time has always been hailed as problematic for being too strong, never because it was not strong enough. We're talking about game balance, we're talking about fairness between two sides at a very BASIC level.
The choice doesn't need to be there, because the mere suggestion itself is entirely unnecessary to the point of redundancy. In fact it is redundant.
Even though we agree that it should be nerfed, not having it as an option would make the poll seem biased to those who do not share our opinions. In that case, it would be, since their opinion is not seen as a legitimate opinion to have.

I understand the game rewarding auric cells given the nature of mobile games in general, but having a pre-game lobby where you can see each other's perks is a nice touch.
I never thought I would see the day where I wish a console game would be more like a mobile game.😕
It would be nice if there was a way to earn Auric cells (albeit, very, very slowly).

We did have a system similar to those tickets before (splinter offerings). They got rid of them, either because of the fact you can get non-licensed characters with shards or because certain license holders wouldn't allow it and only excluding those ones would paint the excluders in a bad light. No other reason makes more sense, really.
I'm pretty sure they got rid of them because they didnt work a lot of the time.

Nope, it really isn't. Although I would need to test it myself (if those addons even exist as they used to)...

Fair loss? Fair loss is when he wins normally not leaving survivors for minutes on the ground to get a forced 4k. If you can't win normally without losing 5 gens then fuckoff with the slugging, noed and mori. I'm the 1st to dc as soon as I see someone get moried or those slugging camping killers. By the time he picks me up I'm already in a new match.
The goal of the killer is to get a 4k. Well, primary goal is to stop gens, but the overall goal is to get a 4k if possible. If there is a tactic to stop a single person from escaping via an in game mechanic, then the killer has the right to use that tactic. A person dcing may be a counter to that, but it is one the killer cannot predict or prepare for. It denies points they have worked for. Do you not see the problem with this?

Based on certain parts of outfits, they are all correct. Now, I'm not saying 100% that they are all lore relevant, but for example, demon Oni was used. That one could be a alternate timeline where he was literally becoming the thing he hated. Another example of this is Susie's Lunar Event cosmetic where it says she wore that cosmetic to kill people. Yet Susie only killed the Janitor, and no one else during her original backstory, hell even in the new lore Susie only caused mayhem and injuries, no deaths.
I tried explaining Legion's tome awhile ago, I think there are two distinct possibilities on why it is such a big retcon to the original, because they can easily read the original and base it off that. I think that either its a different timeline, which explains why Julie came up with the name, why Joey is one of Julie's best friends, instead of a random party goer. Why the death of the janitor is so vastly different. Or, it's Julie remembering specific details wrong. Frank came up with the name, obviously, because we have Jeff creating the mural. So Julie creating the name moments before or the day of the janitor's death makes no sense. Another problem, Julie slaughters the janitor without Susie or Joey taking a stab at him. Which didn't happen, so it could be Julie remembering herself in this way instead of a coward to impress Frank. Remember, these are memories lost to the fog, meaning they have a chance to be different. If it's one person, we have to believe it is right. If it's a group of people like Legion, we have to assume details will be wrong. They will remember all of it differently than each other based on what they want the other's to think of themselves.
It is more likely that it is how Julie wants to remember it, not how it actually went. It makes her look better, but ultimately, she was just led along by Frank.
I kind of wish the observer would sort of explain this to people: that memories have a bias based on who they come from. Certain people remember the same things differently.

The way we fix gens now doesn't make sense lol. Stick your hands in some gears until something happens or it explodes slightly
It would be fun if the next non-licensed survivor was just a normal dude from Pompeii though.
Maybe something like Leonardo Da Vinci as a survivor or something, idk.
And the animations are only the way they are just because of limitations (self imposed or otherwise) and gameplay is only a guideline for how things actually go. Would you like to have to find new parts scattered across the map, or find a gen that cannot be completed, no matter the time put in it? I didn't think so.

How did you get that from my post?
Each side should have a chance to come back but Billy is the one killer that can play extremely poorly all game and turn it around in an instant at any point in the trial. You shouldnt be able to cheese a victory.
Sometimes the killer just makes a really bad play and they dont deserve to come back. but Billy always can, and he has that insane snowball potential from the beginning of the game.
This is literally what you wrote... how else is a person supposed to interpret that? 1 mistake from survivors, no big deal, I have crutches, 1 mistake from killers, they don't deserve to come back? Seems a little unfair especially at the beginning of a match, right?
-
I think some of the cosmetic choices have been... iffy. They have done an amazing job designing them and adding them to the game, but some aren't great. For instance:
The forced sets. They are a bad idea.
Robbie Legion: A terrible idea. If you want to give a costume to somebody, give it to CLOWN.
I like Jeff's new set. But it doesn't really match with anything.
Most nurse cosmetics do not match with any others (different skin tones between the wedding dress outfits and her newer ones.)
They all look great, but I just really question why they did it the way they do it sometimes, like with all of Behavior.
-
Survivors would constantly ban the Game and pick Ormond, and Killers would ban Yamaoka, Ormond, Red Forest, and Midwitch. Just a guess.
However, it would get rid of map offerings, which would clear up the bloodweb a little.
-
They said they were sticking to humanoid, which is two arms and two legs and a head. They said this because they would be able to use similar rigs for killers. It is why they aren't making creatures a part of it. No multi-leg creatures. At least until further notice.

Technically, he is seeking permission because to kill, he needs to offer an add-on to the campfire, which is something that the Entity gives to survivors and killers. The Killers that actually don’t need permission of the Entity to kill are besides Pyramid Head, the Spirit and the Hag, because they are using their own perks, their own powers, to do the act.
And he is not the only unbroken killer, Ghostface,Legion,Clown, Huntress,Oni and Hillbilly were not broken in any way by the Entity.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1476494#Comment_1476494
Yeah, it is clear that the gameplay and the lore are two very different beasts and comparing them is a complicated task. Like, if you look at the trailers, despite being something noted to exist in the lore, the red stain is never shown in cinematics, and my headcanon is that is something that just doesn’t happens 100% of the time, but the real reason is because they are not going to bother to include balance stuff in a cinematic and it would probably look weird. That said, the terror radius is a bit more consistent, but it also tends to be absent.
Which I don't mind their absence in the lore. It would only detract from it if it was constantly there (I know it has a mention in the lore, but so does every mechanic).

the 'funny' thing about caleb here is that there's a bizarre innocence to his contraptions when they are meant to cause pain. Like, sure, with the torture device for the boys who bullied him, it was on purpose, but there's an odd tone with the stuff he made for the warden. it's a bit like there's a disconnect between the why and what. I'm not saying he completely lacks empathy or compassion, but there's a... detachment... and not even in a negative sense O_ó
No, he makes torture devices for the warden. There is nothing innocent about them. When his father is around, he makes wholesome inventions, but by himself... he was already on a dark path.
He also has a problem of being taken advantage of. It is a theme throughout his story, and it is even more ironic that he is being taken advantage of here. He is paid (in iridescent coins), sure, but what can he buy? Not much, I imagine.

The Hillbilly descriptions come from outfits, his initial lore (the part about the animals) and the rest is in the maps descriptions, that is basically a gold mine of lore, specially at the beginning, they put a lot of lore there.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1476575#Comment_1476575
I think the Awakened Origins is meant to be a what if scenario and not part of the canon, because it implies that Rin went into an eventual rampage after beating the students due to losing herself in the bloodlust curse. Even if those descriptions are meant to happen just after she became a spirit, it wouldn’t work because her generic outfit is her wearing what she wore the night that she was killed.
Outfits descriptions are a bit tricky, because clearly some of them are not canon, other are and other seems to be what if. Like the other outfit in the collections of the Awakened Origins is the Oni, which we know is not canon, because the Oni never literally transformed into a demon, he started looked like one, but that looks was the base set of the character( and he was always a muscular giant), he didn’t seem to gain literal horns and start eating little kids.
And now that you said that, is one of the issues with the lore archives is that, besides the observations, we don’t have a perspective on the trials and specifically, on the killers, like their tomes are their backstories and stuff, but we are not going to see how Wraith is dealing being trapped in the realms, for example, so is not very probable that we get a point of view of the Spirit.
True... The Legion lore is messed up as is due to the inconsistencies between the Archives and the original. The original has Frank pressure the group into stabbing that store employee, while in the Archives, it is Julie that pressures them. The difference being the way that Frank looks in them. In one, he is a dark presence that drags people down with him, in the Archives, he is much more... insidious... by convincing Julie that they need to kill people...
I am more inclined to think that the original is better, but that is my opinion.
-
But you don't have to teleport with every trap. I think you are wrong with STBFL. STBFL requires you to think about who you are targeting, keeping track on the obsession.
You would be surprised about MYC. Hag can teleport from 40 meters away, longer with addons. However, MYC isn't really necessary, as Hag, when played right, can be very lethal.
Haunted is arguably the weakest of the perks, just because it is in the survivors control and a one time thing.
Again, Hag is actually pretty Lethal on her own, she just requires proper planning and knowing how she works to really be good with her.

Unlike you, I think the devs are capable of learning from past mistakes. You keep on harping on about that patch for another 2 years, though.
Wow... going to go with the personal shots first, huh? Ad hominem arguments only make you look bad. I only responded once, so I am not harping on about it, as you claim here.
And their balancing trend, while overall it's good (in recent history), should be nothing to brag about. They are capable of making good changes (EGC, hatch closing mechanic, PH as a character, ), but they have done so many questionable ones... like what they did to Hangmans trick, Nurse Basekit, Billy Basekit, why DS unbreakable is a thing, why Unbreakable/Soul Guard exists, why they added the Robbie skins for Legion (or why legion balancing is less than great), the 8 or so Pig nerfs, or changing ruin without asking themselves why people use ruin... There are a lot of reasons why I hold them to account. Because while their biggest mistake was a long time ago, there have been some recent ones that still make me wonder who they are balancing for, even when we all know the answer. That, and they have the capacity to make great balancing choices.

@Raven014 I'm still a bit jilted but I doubt they'll release it due to the ones who bought the game would lose it. They got burned on a $35 game and I even bought the DLC and lost my legacy outfits for buying the game early.
If they plan to add crossplay, then they are going to release them. At some point. I mean, why would they add crossplay with things that PC players can have but not Console (although the switch outfit is an exception...)?
I would rather it be a really tough challenge to get them than just a shop item, because they look awesome!
And you'll never get those legacy items back now, as they said within the news at the time.

Trapper: I think that is a good idea.
Wraith: Love the lore connection.
Clown: Yikes, Id hate that! but in the fact I wouldn't want it done to me kind of feeling... I assume they haven't done that for the same reason Demo doesn't bite off their head completely... because it would be too gory (at least for certain countries).
Here is an alternative to Pig's:
She stops a survivor from moving, Pulls out an RBT (if they do not have one on), places it on them, and slowly moves the timer on the side to zero, and then we see the RBT go off in all its glory.

I agree that there are holes in the theory, and while yes, it's possible that I'm wrong, there's no harm in speculation. But the theory can still prevail given some details. You commented on Hillbilly being an indiscriminate killer, which while true, doesn't explain why he would randomly kill the farmer. Maybe he was protecting his home, but the farmer didn't do anything wrong to him, so why randomly kill this one person? I get the Entity probably forced him to do it, but if he was still human before being taken, why randomly kill them?
Yes, Wraith definitely seems outset as a vengeful warrior to right the wrong, but remember, the theory talks about survivors only, meaning it probably wouldn't affect a killer because they are all basically working together, plus, the Entity feeds off any emotion. So if it sensed Wraith was in love with Nurse, then by all means, let them be in love, it just gets more nourishment from that.
While Spirit is basically an Onryo, it doesn't sit right with me that she kills innocents without attacking the one that wronged her. She really only wants her father dead, and while the spirit attacks anyone living, it just doesn't make sense she attacks and has Grudges (the score event for hitting a survivor out of your power) against these survivors that haven't done anything. But yet again, could be another case of the Entity just consuming all of their humanity leaving them just a hollow shell, a puppet for a puppeteer if you will.
Oni I was just throwing out as a maybe. I didn't think he saw survivors as false samurai because he has the black eyes found in killers that enjoy killing, mainly Huntress and Clown. Hell, he's one of the strongest killers but the easiest one to get rage out of. Which is why his whole power is basically him getting extremely mad but he doesn't care because he can still honor his name by killing.
Caleb just made sense because why would he see others at the end of the trail? But like you said, he would figure out he had killed them already. But maybe sanity isn't the problem and it's more of vengeance and humanity. He wouldn't care if they were the same so long as he got revenge. Or he just has no humanity left meaning he wouldn't care about killing them over and over, he still gets what he wants in the end.
Yeah it definitely seems like it has no problems with controlling the killers. PH and Michael are examples, and it's not like they can bring an uprising, they'll be tossed into the void immediately. And the Observer seems to have gown down the path of insanity recently, if he doesn't know what to believe anymore, how can we be certain that ending the trials will end the Entity once and for all? On paper it makes sense, get rid of the only way it can get nourishment, and you succeed. But if the Entity sees this coming, it can easily stop them, or just let it go on and quickly create a fail-safe in case anything goes wrong.
I think it makes more sense for those with glowing eyes (besides Doc) to just have hatred as their primary motivator, more than anything else.
Billy, I don't think, is smart enough to know why he was hurt, and have a reason to actually hurt them. He just hurts others because he knows nothing else.
Wraith: He hated himself.
Spirit: she cursed vengeance, but she was just more furious of everything in general, and, on top of that, it seems to have been an ancestral thing, at least based off her archive lore... and the Awakened Origin set also seems to indicate that as well.
Caleb: He was a bounty hunter/engineer with a penchant for causing pain.
Until there are details to back up that theory, such as some lore from Rins perspective, we will never know what they see.

I paid the full amount for the game and now that it's shutting down, it better stay exclusive just like Legacy. To me, it's my favorite cosmetic for Meg because no other survivor has a Mask. The trapper version is ugly and I never wear it but Megs version is awesome.

There's common social etiquette called being humble. It's a very common thing to do, yet there are several people out there who do not do it, they are cocky.
Being cocky has nothing to do with actual skill, it has everything to do with your attitude on the field. You can be the best player in the entire league, but if you're a cocky sack of turds, you're not going to make very many friends.
Maybe that doesn't matter in a game where you can instantly match up with a new random person every game, but I guarantee if a good killer was caught off guard by this guy and then they see them again in lobby, all gloves are off, they're getting camped or tunneled. No one wants to play against that.
Being cocky turns a good game into a bad game. Being cocky makes people who initially respected you for your skill suddenly lose all respect for you because you lack the maturity to carry that skill to something worthwhile(in game). You're no longer fun to play against or with, everyone wants to be disassociated with you.
People will only be humble if they have a reason to be humbled. They obviously haven't gone against many tough survivors as of late... with the MMR testing, I am not surprised...
-

But isn't that a problem? I mean, if you need a DLC perk to be able to compete in most games...that is not a good design I would say.
I have the Plague, but I don't have corrupt in every single killer yet, so for example imagine I want to play Trapper but I don't have corrupt on him...I literally can't play trapper.
Yeah of course there are some perks that help killer on gens but that doesn't mean that gen speed is not a problem, bc actually it is. Yeah you can still 4k but that only means you played really well. Killer sided right now is unable to make a single mistake because you choose the wrong chase and the game is gone. Survivor side they have plenty of 2nd chance perks so mistakes are welcome.
That is the definition of Pay to Win. Or Grind to win, if one wants to really categorize it.

For Myers, it really depends on whether you consider the add-ons and how they change powers to be canon. Why would holding a piece of a tombstone suddenly allow Michael to go against the Entity's wishes? Why would a lock of hair allow him to instantly bring Survivors down for longer. In fact, we know from the opening cinematic that the Survivors don't canonically need to be stabbed twice to go down. We see both Claudette and Jake, without being injured once, go down quickly. Claudette wasn't working on the gen when the Trapper picked her up anyway and hooked her. And Jake just goes straight down and is hauled off, clearly either dead or too weak to struggle against the Trapper's grip.
This clearly shows us that, while parts of the Killers' powers are canonical, much of the game we play is simply that: a game. While the add-ons and perks exist, they don't exist in the way we see them. Adam doesn't stand around with the Killer nearby and suddenly decides to grab a pebble. That's simply game balance. Having a glass-like hatchet doesn't erase Huntress's hatchets. That's simply game balance. A piece of a tombstone doesn't suddenly allow Michael to kill without permission. It's simply game balance.
Pyramid Head made a deal with the Entity. That's what allows him to go against the Entity. Or perhaps, once again, it's just game design.
Again, feel free to hate me for saying this, but it needed to be said.
More people need to be reminded of the separation between gameplay and lore more often. Lore provides the context in the world, while the also justifying its presence in the game. Meanwhile, the gameplay has nothing to do with the story (in this case).

I wouldn't mind if they added something along these lines:
When you max out a category (let's say Objective) a part (let's say 50%) of overwork on it goes to a diffrent category.
That would be a neat idea.

As someone who plays both roles with pretty even time distribution I very very rarely end games with less than 25k BP on a killer. If I hit 25k on a survivor game I chalk it up as a big BP game.
I've definitely tried to bait myself before tunneling killers before with very mixed results. Some take it personally and chase me, others ignore me and continue to tunnel. It's just frustrating that as a survivor you can be penalized for things that are outside of your control (ex: killer won't chase you, or killer won't give you breathing room to do objectives) obviously it's not the end all be all, but you also didn't really highlight any negatives to my proposed idea aside from the fact that you think it somehow takes less work.
What category would you say you were lacking (points wise)?

Imagine a caveman trying to fix a gen. Yeah, doesn't make sense, does it?

I like Legion and PH. Legion slightly more, but I will win with PH in times when I wouldnt with Legion... although there are some times I win with Legion when I never would with PH... it is weird like that sometimes...

I think this might be alright...

maybe globally here the chain reeling in? that way you know exactly what is happening and for how long
I think this is too much. Chains aren't that loud that you can hear them across the map.

I'll just write my tiers down instead:
Guaranteed win: Legion, Pyramid Head, Trapper, Hag
Easier Game: Myers, Doc, Oni, Ghostface
Could be either way: Spirit, Deathslinger, Freddy, Demogorgon, Clown, Pig, Leatherface.
I Could Use Some Practice: Plague
I Am Not Good With These: Nurse, Billy, Wraith

2. This timer will pause when you are in a chase and while you are down. This timer will immediately deactivate if you start repairing a gen, cleanse a totem, are fully healed, enter a locker or unhook another survivor.
Unfair. This negates insta-heals during a chase. Negates Second Wind. Negates Inner Strength when even looping the killer who's tunneling you by entering a locker. It punishes survivors for not fully healing, even with We'll Make It which is a 5 second heal, the killer could already be on his way looking for you.
1. Decisive Strike has two tokens. You lose a token after being rescued from a hook within 32 meters of the killers location, otherwise no tokens are consumed. If a token is consumed, you have 30 seconds of DS being active
Does this mean I lose a token if I'm farmed off the hook and I have to wait for the killer to leave the radius in order to go for the unhook?
Please explain this.
DS already gives players another health state (essentially). Why should they synergize with instaheals? If one has the time to heal, they either:
- Aren't being tunneled (most forms of healing)
- Are good enough at looping that you don't need DS in the first place (second wind + Instaheals)
-
As long as the chance for a key is drastically lowered.

That makes no sense why would there be a way to earn a exclusive that was a pay to get that's just like the bloodletting shirt it was a first come first serve situation.
Like I said, Deathgarden cosmetics never were on console. If they were to be added, I would want them to be earned. As in challenge style.

Console never had a chance to get them. If there was a way to earn them without spending money, that would be good.
