Yes, yes, I know, you are already yelling at me for daring to say something so offensive, but bear with me for 5 seconds. I will make this extremely clear and short.

    The following scenarios can happen:

1.You were planning to camp: BT did it's job, nothing more to say.

2.You don't camp and leave the hook: the hooked survivor will get unhooked and BT won't come into play. Now you have 1 healthy survivor(the unhooker) and 1 injured survivor(the unhooker) off gens, with one that needs to heal. Since you left the hook, you need to search for a survivor to chase.

3.You don't plan to camp, but a survivor rushes the hook with BT before you can leave: you get a hit on the unhooker, the unhooked survivor tanks a hit with BT. Now you have 1 injured survivor(the unhooker), 1 survivor that needs to mend and heal(the unhooked survivor) and you also have your next target to chase(any of the 2 survivor), no need to waste time searching for a new target.

Therefore, the math clearly says that survivors rushing the hook with BT when you had no plans to camp is actually in your favor. If they rushed the hook but you still planned to camp, see #1. There can be slight differences in #3, like the unhooked survivor not being able to tank the hit and you downing the unhooker, which is even more in your favor.

Remind me again, why are you complaining about BT if you are not a camper?

You left out the End Game scenario where BT gets both people out. Just saying.

  • Perks:

Hand off Me Booty: When a survivor loots a chest, their aura is shown for 3 seconds. That survivor becomes your obsession and is surrounded by a glowing aura. This effect lasts until they are put into dying state. Furthermore, the first chest looted is empty.

Sinking Feeling: After hooking a survey, the killer has x seconds to kick a gen. When they do, every gen not being worked on is put in regression and gens not in regression are highlighted in white for 4 seconds.

Hex Booby Trap: While active, destroying a dull totem causes it to explode, injuring the survivor.

Survivor: Irwin Mitchell- Archeologist and treasure hunter

    Perks:

Jackpot: The survivor gains a stack for each chest searched on the map. Each stack rewards 25% extra BP to a max of 4 stacks.

Smelling Like a Rose: Gain a stack for each protection hit or safe unhook. Activate Smelling Like a Rose and leave no scratch marks for 3 seconds. Can only have 4 stacks at once

A Nose For Trouble: Once 2 gets are completed, and you have either worked on a gen for 30 seconds or performed a safe unhook, you become aware of trouble nearby. Any help totems within 4/8/12 meters will cause a chime to go off warning you of it's presence. Direction is not indicated. 60 second recharge.

  • Well, it should take place in a pirate's treasure cave with there being a half sunken ship nearby. The pirate killer should have 2 main abilities. The first is the ability teleprt to locations around the map where his treasure is hidden. Survivora can try to identify those spots and loot the treasur, but it will respawn elsewhwere in 90 seconds. 2nd power is the ability to phase through objects in a ghostly form. Thus cutting chases short. That ability has a recharge to it. The recharge is faster for each treasure node in play. Each hook the pirate scores shortens the respawn on his treasure timers by 5 to 10 seconds.

This killer would have map pressure, and a rechargeable ability to cut chases short. At the same time, he has counter play because diligent survivors can steal his treasure, thus mitigating his powers. Survivors gain a random BP bonus when they steal his treasure. If they escape after looking treasure, they get a 10% bonus to survival BP.

I assumed it was a ghost pirate defending his ancient treasures.

Did he have NOED, wonder if he just didn't want you breaking them all? Or a Trapper but I guess that is understandable it is such a hard counter it is kind of worth tunneling.

In regards to Prestige, I agree with you the only killer or survivor I have prestige at all is PH and that's because A. I think the bloody outfit looks absolutely sick, and B. I had a million saved, all the rift saved, dailies saved, and shrines to buy so I got him to P3 in like a couple days with no real harm to my other progress.

No, he just thought maps were toxic. lol

  • I prestiged my Trapper, Pig and Feng years ago. I then realized what a phenomenal waste of time it all was. I get zero benefit from it and the "rare node" increase in the blood web is not noticeable at all. My Doc gets just as many rare items as Trapper. Kate gets the same rare item choices as Feng and I never prestiged either of them.

So, I don't run bloody because I consider it sign of foolishness. "Look, I wasted lots of BP for absolutely no freaking reason! Yay me!" lol That, and I found when you run a bloody survivor, you get tunneled more. Nah, I'll skip. I avoid running Claudette and bloody Feng because too many simple-minded killers get triggered at the site. Just like running a map or key. I made the mistake of running a map last night in one of my three survivor matches. I was tunneled the entire time. Eventually died in end game while the others got out. Killer ranted and raved about killing the azzhole with the map. Yep...I just wanted the extra BP for finding crap. So I had a green map with zero addons. Wow........

  • Totem counter for solo que. 'Nuff said.

I have no problem with NOED. It is a great perk for end game builds. I feel sad for killers using it as a crutch though. Those killers will never get better because they depend on a cheap hit to counter their bad habits. That said, SWF hit with NOED have zero excuse. They should be hitting bones. Solo que, is different. I'm an avid bones hunter, because I love getting 1k BP for each. That said, I'll hit 3-4 every match and have zero way of knowing if the others are done. POP! NOED kicks in and I'm often the first victim. Annoying as hell. If there was a totem counter, I might take more time off the gen to find the last totems.

Want to counter the fabled "gen-rush"? Give solo que a totem counter. Human nature will want that number at zero. Survivors have little incentive to do anything other than get on gens. Many avid NOED users have not good at pressuring the gens. Thus you get the NOED meta we see today. Crappy killers and foolish survivors clashing in one bloody showdown. Pathetic.

  • Too hard to get that perk going. Highly inefficient. When I run survivor, I prefer perks that will come into use often. That's probably why I also don't run DS or Adren. One time use perks annoy me. But, even DS is more efficient than Autodidact. I typically get 1-2 stacks because I can't get freaking skill checks when I heal people. That and it makes you a bad teammate. You have to run around trying to get injured people to stop doing gens so you can heal them in order to get stacks.

    I'll pass.

The phrase "entitled, misguided, toxic, crybaby children" was pulled from your very post. If you have a problem with it, that's pretty much textbook hypocrisy. Then the rest of my post was an example of that kind of person which wasn't clearly directed at anybody (but admittedly, I wasn't going to be surprised if certain people in the thread identified as such). If you found the characteristic of "children who are misguided enough to think that they're entitled to only have killers that they want in the game and respond in toxic ways to people who want things that others enjoy and resort to crying like babies at the suggestion that Springtrap be added" to be personally insulting or an attack, that just suggests that you consider yourself to be such a person but don't like the idea of somebody noticing.

And then after that talk about insulting others you don't agree with, this post soon follows:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1521570#Comment_1521570

Not only are you insulting the FNaF community by calling them toxic, but you then pull one hell of a blatant double standard. You proceed say that when it comes to DbD, not everybody is toxic; but say that the FNaF community is toxic as a whole. Not only is that clearly wrong, it shows an obvious bias.

You have some compression issues. The FNaF community is toxic, childish and immature, but does that mean all of them are? No. THAT is what I was saying.

These posts really show the need for better reading compression skills.

Well, you didn't insult OP, but you did refer to FNaF's fanbase as entitled, misguided, toxic, crybaby children, and referred to Springtrap as a "joke character", so I'm guessing that's what provoked the attack.

So have several people in this thread. As a whole, it is a very toxic community. We call DBD toxic, does that include everyone? No.

  • @Dehitay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1520997#Comment_1520997

That's funny because I would consider entitled, misguided, toxic, crybaby children to be the kinds of children who are misguided enough to think that they're entitled to only have killers that they want in the game and respond in toxic ways to people who want things that others enjoy and resort to crying like babies at the suggestion that Springtrap be added.

AhAhAhh, the old attack when someone disagrees concept. Notice I did not insult the OP, even said I hope they get enjoyment from the IP. I referred to the community and the lack luster nature of the product.

But, you apparently can't deal with differing opinions without personal attacks. Good job there. LOL

  • I honestly do think that would be the final straw for me. Freddy brought in a lot of horror fans. Shape, Bubba, GF did as well. PH brought in fans of horror games. Springtrap would do the same as well. But, has anyone actually gone and looked at the forums of this fan base? It is beyond sad. It would bring a ton of entitled, misguided, toxic, crybaby children. This forum would get phenomenally worse than it is now only to bring in a mediocre character who really does not rank in the top 100 of horror killer concepts.

Please, enjoy FNaF and the characters in it if that is your thing. But don't bring that crap here. We have enough joke characters - Clown. Just because it may have some jump scares, does not mean it's a good fit. Same can be said of Pennywise. I don't want to see him in game either. Heck, I'd rather see them go to some classic horror characters in bring us an unholy Nasferatu.

Anyways, done with this Springtrap crap. I tried to get into it and give it a fair shake, but holy crap I could barely get by its horrible fan base before figuring out it was about as scary as a pimple on my arse.

  • Not a big fan of MMR, though I've had mostly decent results in my matches. Most of my survivors are of appropriate skill based on the killer I'm using. For instance, I'm am absolute comedy show when I try and run Nurse. I hate her, mostly due to her stun animation. I'm colorblind and losing sight of my target combined with the dimming of the screen destroys my tracking ability (I don't see scratch marks, they are black on my screen). So I ran a few Nurse matches and ended up with rank 16's.....they still got two out. But with Hag, Pig and Trapper, I'm facing mostly red ranks with a few matches giving me green and yellow. Why do I get green/yellow ranks after a great red rank match where 2 escaped while on death hook? I mean, you get 10+ hooks, kill two, have the last two on death hook and the MMR tracks that as you need to face newbies?

That said, I have taken a bit of satisfaction with some of the people I know who have gamed the rank system for years. Several killers and a few survivors who intentionally stay in the lower ranks. They play for a week or so destroying rank 16's until they hit rank 12 or so, then switch sides. Then they chill until rank reset. These players have now been getting matched with red rank survivors/killers and are crying up a freaking storm. It is funny to watch. They spend their time feeding on low skill players, now they are getting stuck with people of their own skill level.

when you find out how much they're paid versus the cost of living in their area, let alone compared to the pay others get from other companies and outside of games period you might understand their lack of enthusiasm. blizzard became a pretty greedy company that doesn't care about it's employees or customers once activision swallowed it up, which is why I refer to it often as just activision now and why the activision comes before the blizzard (activision-blizzard) in their name. It's probably one of the absolute worst worst game companies to work for, along with ubisoft after some of the stuff that came out about that one recently.

ubi had the gift of a dragon age bioware dev, and literally drove the guy away from the company because they wouldn't let him put his gifts to use. I both laughed and felt p*ssed off when I learned why that guy left and what we may have missed out on, all because of another suit that probably never touched a video game in it's life and doesn't know a thing at all about them telling a creative and seasoned game developer who also plays the games what they can't develop. and then you wonder why there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm and effort in recent years, when you hear about the bs going on at companies like blizzard and ubi. I'm not surprised at all any more. I almost feel bad for them at this point. Your dream job turning out to be one of the most chit jobs.

It's sad to see how bad they have become. They were already starting to slip in their lore before that, but the Activision acquisition put it all into warp speed. Blizzard has always been a company that steals its core lore from other stories/games/movies. I mean, Arthas is pretty much a rehash of Elric - Prince of a kingdom who gets a cursed sword that feeds on the souls of its victims.....But, at least it was fun and entertaining. Then they just decided to shoot holes in their lore to make their next expansion (whichever one you choose) work. Sad, really sad.

The one thing I will give the developers of DbD is they have created very interesting lore as it pertains to the Entity and it's created killers. The survivor lore is meh, with the exception of a few - Ace, David, Meg, Claudette, Jake and Dwight being the best of them, IMO. The whole conflict between the Entity and The Trapper is really good stuff. I wish they would really pull that information out. We need a graphic novel or short films on their created killers and their stories. I'd be willing to buy those up.

  • Chili, I love BP and there is no better perk.

Survivor side is a tie. WGLF, I love BP and this sometimes gets it for you, but not even 50% of the time. Detective's Hunch, Totems equal BP and can avoid NOED.

  • @Riquan said:

Well. I waited for 1 week for them to solve the bugs that I was experiencing which made the game unplayable for me. Then I quit the game and activated my wow account. I'm %100 sure the fix is on their side not mine. But there are no humans at the customer service. That's the problem. I had 500+ hours into the game. Every loyal player should do it like I did.

Wait, you lost me at WoW. Their devs are the kings of not giving a flip about their player base. Yeah, you went from the frying pan into the fire. Nice work.

  • @Zaitsev said:

Even the uproar about AA was nothing compared to this. I have not seen a single post praising the devs from either side at all. Would anyone care to explain everything that is upsetting them as of this moment?

Auras broke the game for me. I can't play when I can't find my traps or the hook, gens, etc. I have not played again since the auras. I've watched plenty of streams while doing other things, but can't play until they fix it.

  • This MMR is in bad shape already and was introduced to a game that currently has a graphics issue (piss-poor aura remake) that has broken the game for many players, myself included, and numerous bugs greatly impacting game play. This is like watching the Goonies rob a bank. It's entertaining, but not working.

  • Seriously - Criticism creates growth opportunities. If MMR is not working, they need to fix it. This development team has more fumbles than touchdowns lately. They need to get their heads out of their butts or hire better ones. I don't have to be a developer to know the game is turning into a chaotic mess. Auras, MMR, dozens of bugs, yeah - they deserve criticism.

  • That would be way too strong. Insidious is actually a great perk if used with some ingenuity. I've used it by hiding in the jungle gym near a key gen when I knew someone had been working on it. 2 seconds later I got a free hit and rooted out that immersed Claudette.

I've seen some great plays , that did not involve camping, using Insidious. A Trapper who saw a survivor near killer shaxk, so he trapped the inside window and stepped around the corner and stood still. Here comes the survivor to disarm it only to get caught in it as he startled the crap out of them.

It's not a great perk, but has some uses. Unlike monstrous shrine.

  • Botany is a great perk as is. A staple in any healer build I run.

  • Instead of locking survivors, just reset their build to a blank template every time they change. That will end the last second switching.

  • @gatsby said:

If the gens are going quickly and/or the Killer got a bad map, don't blame them or be mad about tunneling/camping. Sometimes the only way to turn a game around is by securing a kill.

Just try to look at it from the Killer's perspective. Sometimes they're doing it out of necessity not simply to be mean or unfun or whatever.

I don't think a reasonable person should have much in the way of complaints at the strategic tunnel or camp. It's the ones who do it from the start.

  • Loadouts for killers would be very helpful. Especially for those last second switches. Half of the reason for a lobby is to form a strategy. 4 P3 Claudettes with flashlights means a very different match than a Jane, Ace, Baby Dwight, and Feng all with no items. Being able to quickly change loadouts when the four random characters suddenly switch to an immerse group with 3 flashlights and a key would be nice.

I started playing (don’t laugh) Fortnite so I could understand what the kids were talking about... and I’m really enjoying it. Yes there are jerks, and I know some people cheat or hack but that’s mostly in the competitive environment. I’ve also seen two bugs since I started fixed within 1 day and then 4 days.

Though I hate that game, I understand the point you are making.

  • I played 2 games after the auras dropped. Could not see my traps as Trapper or the gens, hooks and hex totem. As survivor, running Det Hunch, I could not see gen and totem auras nor could I see survivors on the hook.

I've been playing other games instead. This may actually lead to me dropping DbD all together. I keep forgetting how bad this game is until I spend significant time in other games.

If nothing else, I'm done sinking money into DbD until they start showing some competence in their development.

I mean, i think people actually posts because they don't want to do a fast search in the forums. Also, there you have:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/177703/community-4-1-0-q-a

    First question:

    Q: Why change the auras?

The auras were the source of quite a few technical headaches. The rework of the aura system was intended to give our programming teams cleaner code and a more stable aura system. Unfortunately, this had some unintended side effects on visibility. We heard your feedback and are working to improve their visibility. We will have a temporary fix in place shortly as we continue to work on a more permanent solution.

    You're welcome.

I expect you will be putting together similar posts for every duplicate post on the forums. You are going to be busy. Think of all the DS, tunnel, gen rush, toxic killer, toxic survivor, nerf Legion, buff Legion, ban SWF, nerf OoO, Swing Twap chapter pwease, etc, etc post you are going to have to police now. Or, are you just triggered because someone decided to vent a legitimate frustration on a discussion forum?

Did this post get in the way of a killer tier ranking post you were looking for?

    LoL

  • I've just quit playing until they fix it.

just saying survivor to easy where killer much to hard and shocked not driving more killers away with out killers survivor can't play.

I would caution against an us and them attitude. It is bad for the game. We all enjoy this game, it should be a binding factor. Also, keep in mind, without survivors, killer's can't play the game either.

I've gotten in the habit of saying "thanks for playing and best of luck" at the end of matches. Trying to show a bit of appreciation for my fellow gamers. Not going far, but at least I can say I'm not part of the problem.

I should add that though I still love playing killer more than survivor, I can't play either right now due to the horrid auras. I'm colorblind and can't see gens, totems, traps, notta. Frustrating!

how many mistakes can survivor make still get out? i say a lot also what if they all good in chases give up every chases i mean with swf or really good solo game pointless to play as most killers.

You'll never hear me argue that SWF is not powerful. You are right in the fact they can make more mistakes. Personally, I still have fun playing, and I prefer Trapper; so not exactly a powerful killer. The feeling of having no room for mistake is much more prevalent as killer than survivor. There are no easy fixes though. I don't want to damage the game. I don't want 1 hour que times because we drive survivors away from the game. Tweak gens too much and you destroy the casual mid rank survivor game. Mid ranks already see killers winning in big numbers with lazy tunneling/camping tactics. Make that worse and you drive players away in droves. Bad, bad, bad idea.

There are so many tweaks that need to happen, but it has to be with a scalpel.

  • @Tuscan said:

What player experience? Holding down M1, Running around a pallet just to drop and run to a new one and repeat?

Survivors needs new chase mechanic cause its just boring at this stage, This is the biggest problem right now.

Camping wont reward the killer if the rest of survivors just do gens and get out, but instead soo many go for the save EVEN When they know the killer is facecamping, and this might end up in 2-3 kills for the killer and then the endchat will be filled with people telling the killer to kill himself etc.

Partially because the BP rewards for survivor in a match that has no real killer interactions is pitiful. That is my problem when I play survivor and get into a camping or tunneling match. Though I am "safe", I get crap BP for doing gens and leaving.

So many problems in this game on both sides, I'd almost say they need a full revamp. Time for Deader By Daylight? The next chapter......

  • @jayru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1493816#Comment_1493816

That seemed to me like that was a SWF group seeing as all 4 of them had a sneak build and a full arsenal of the best gen completion addons/perks. I'm not saying it's the wrong way to play survivor, but when a match is 3 minutes long USUALLY survivors get a safety pip and a pat on the head. This may not be a good example but gen rushing is real.

It's not survivors fault and killers can't help it unless they focus on the hooks instead of the gens. But noooo hold on, if a killer focuses solely on killing instead of gens that's toxic even though in situations like these it's the better option. See how thats a two way street?

It just boils down to BHVR being incompetent, problems like these shouldn't persist in a game this aged.

Agreed. I've felt for some time that BHVR is just at a lost for how to move forward. They put themselves in a corner and empowered a lot of toxic play styles as well as ignored huge issues. If they tweak gen times they could destroy 80% of the survivor base while creating some balance for red rank killers facing constant SWF with gen builds.

    It's a mess.

@MigrantTheGreat that is a very solid point. Survivors need more objectives, which will grant more BP. That said, some would need to be done at lower ranks. Lower skill survivors barely escape as it is, now they would never do so. That is the overall problem with the game. Most of the player base is in the rank 8 to 14 range. Killers are very strong in that range. New objectives would completely cripple them. These are mostly casual players who soak up the cosmetics and bring in lots of money. Destroy their enjoyment and the game withers.

  • Yes, I did see the builds. How different are those builds from a forever Freddy build with an Ebony Mori? Again, I point to the fact that focusing on the objective is the point of the game for both sides. You can't complain about a gen build and then support a similar killer build. We like to claim the survivor has every chance to win vs a forever Freddy build with an Ebony Mori, then the same must be true for these builds.

  • First of all, I don't mean anything here to be disrespectful, so pleas please understand that. I main Trapper, who is one of the slowest killers to get going. He has to spend the early game setting up the map. You don't want to commit to long chases too early or you are done. I understand how fast those first few gens can go.

That said, "gen rush" claims annoy the hell out of me. What are survivors supposed to do? Hide in a locker for the first 45 seconds, the run from th locker to killer shack and back before starting a gen? They have only one objective that counts, do the gens asap. The longer a match goes, the more their chances of survival fade.

Getting upset at survivors hitting gens is as absurd as survivors getting upset at a killer for getting a hook within the first minute. We have one objective, kill the survivors.

My thoughts are that you either ran into a group who completely outclassed your skill level;happens to everyone. You perhaps made too many mistakes early? Did you commit to a long chase early in the game that cost you more time than it was worth? Be willing to break off a chase if it looks like it will take too long. Wound and move on.

Dud you tunnel or spend too much time proxy camping? A lot of killers rank up vs bad survivors in green and purple ranks only to learn that lazy strategy does not cut it so well at the higher ranks. They either whine, or learn to adjust their skills and grow.

Not enough data to know what it was. I'd suggest taking a step back and try to asses any errors you are making and correct them. That is how you get better.

    Good luck.

  • Buffs are the way to equal things out, not nerfs. They need to buff solo survivor play and killers. Bring solo survivor information capabilities to that of SWF. Then buff killers, likely through perks, to deal with SWFs.

    1. Killer perks should always be stronger than survivor. In any match, you are looking at 16 survivor perks vs 4 killer perks. The scale should balance. You have opportunities to tweak lots of killer perks that just frankly suck horribly. Territorial Imperative could extra information to the killer when facing an SWF. Perhaps it has a built-in whispers, or the killer's tracking ability is increased so scratch marks are brighter and last longer. Enduring vs SWF works when DS'd more than once? The first DS is all good, but after that, Enduring reduces the duration of the stun. Perhaps Enduring works vs all stuns after the first, instead of just pallets - only vs 3-4 man SWF. Lots and lots of tweaks that could kick in when the game recognizes an SWF. It does not make the killer that much stronger, but gives little edges here and there. (If we buff Solo play right, we can remove the SWF pre-req to many of these effects so the killer is on par with both.)
    2. Buff solo survivor. Solo play should have a couple of built-in affects. Dark Sense (SWF's are able to share killer/hook information - including direction the killer went or if they are hiding with Insidious). Totem Counter built into several perks (Small Game, Det Hunch, Ace in the Hole). Increased chance to Kobe - yep, give them a better chance to get off the hook alone. The near-endless horror stories from bad solo teammates are more than enough to validate the ability to get yourself out of trouble.

Just a few ideas that could be massaged out, but the idea is that nerfs have not worked. Nerfs have made so many things worse in the game (Looking at you healing nerf that led to the huge focus on getting gens done asap.) Nerfs cause too many negative ripple effects in the game. Stop nerfing, start buffing in small increments. The game will never be fully balanced due to its nature. It can be better balanced though.

  • 1. The heavy focus on gens really started right after the major healing nerf. Many people said that would be the case and were boohoo'd by the louder killer base that wanted the nerf. They asked for it, they got it.

    2. Your post is clearly one sided. You leave off the survivor experience. When I do play survivor, it is 7 out of 10 matches of tunnel and camp. Then cry about how killers are powerless. Seriously bad killers who can't adapt, can't pressure gens and rely on NoED to get kills. (Not in my matches, Det Hunch is a staple in my builds.)

    3. I easily play 8 killer matches for every survivor match. I don't see a whole lot of clicky clicky because I'm almost always in a chase and I either ignore them or they are trying to get gens done. As Trapper, I lose 2-3 gens early, then it stops. I rarely see more than one escape.

Is it stressful sometimes? Yes. But then I remember that all these nerfs and all the toxic killers with their camping and tunneling have killed the solo ranks. SWF used to be the uncommon match, bow they are the norm.

  • I'm colorblind and I now feel like I'm playing the game with the blindness debuff. Did Pig put a RBT on my head with that addon? This is pure insanity.

  • I'm colorblind. I struggled, but made do with the auras in the past. I mostly play killer, but some survivor as well. I could get red ranks in both and adapt for my color issues (have yet to see a scratch mark and only see blood if I run certain perks or play the Game map). That said, the new auras have ended my ability to play. I main Trapper and can't see a trap anywhere on the ground. I walked around for the whole game just trying to find traps when I first logged in. One of the survivors eventually figured out I was just trying to find traps and started helping me find them. I set them all up in the killer shack for the hell of it. Could not see them when I walked away from it though....WTH!

I can't see gen auras outside of roughly 32m. I can't see hook auras unless I'm next to it practically. There are no survivor auras with Chili. Can't see my hex totems at all from anywhere. As survivor I can't see hooked players unless they are relatively close. I can't see gens/totems with Det. Hunch. Can't see a downed player unless they are in pure LoS.

They ended my ability to play this game. I can't unhook survivors if I can't find them. I can't hook survivors if I can't find the hooks. I'm done. Thanks BHVR. Your incompetence finally made me realize just how bad this game is. How you do this is beyond me. I bet EA and Blizzard are so happy you exist; because every time someone says how bad they are, they can say that they are not the worst.

  • The aura changes have completely ended my ability to play. I'm colorblind and could not see scratch marks or blood pools before, but mostly hunted on intuition and predicting where the prey would go. I did well enough to hang in the 6-3 rank region. As survivor, I stick within the same region, but don't play as often. Some maps are rough due to color blending and I can't see some windows and pallets. Don't want to run WoO all the time, but I make do well enough.

    Since the change:

Survivor: Can barely see someone on the hook if they are close to me. Can't see them far away. I run Detective's Hunch, I can't see the totem auras. If someone is slugged, forget it, unless you are within 8 meters of me.

Killer: I can only see some of the auras of gens if they are within around 32m. I cannot see the Trapper's traps laying around the ground, which is really bad since I'm a Trapper main. Seriously, I can't see them at all. It is a blank field. I can't see hooks. I don't see my Hex totems anywhere, so I can't defend those. It is an absolute mess!

I literally have to stop playing until they fix this. I'm blind.

  • There are a lot of salty killers who will rage at SWF. There are many, like myself, who realize that a multiplayer game SHOULD have an SWF function as that is the whole fun of it. There are those who feel comms are cheating, but let's be real for a minute. This game was not made in 1999. It was developed post 2010. Cell phones, video chat sites and millions of ways to communicate were everywhere. If they did not think about the possibility that survivors would get on comms then they were likely the most ignorant and incompetent developers ever. I don't believe that. "But SWF options came later!" Really, nobody thought someone would get into a lobby and say "here's the link to our DbD Discord channel guys. Sign in and let's play." I see this even now.

The problem is that they did not give the killer enough tools to counter SWF comms. The reason SWF is frustrating is because it gives the survivors so much information. What's the use in running Knockout when comms can say exactly where they are?

I run Trapper. One survivor sees a trap while I'm chasing him and instantly tells the others where it was. The Trap is disarmed before the chase is done. It really does upset the balance of the game. Especially the beginning of the game where the killer is at his weakest.

Is it cheating? No, refer to my development statement above. Is it an unfair advantage? Most definitely.

  • Ummm...no. For one, BBQ is fine. The information given by BBQ is usually misleading. You rush to the gen they were on and they are already hidden. You kick it, move on, they move back on. You wasted roughly 30 seconds doing absolutely nothing. It can often be used in favor of the survivor. As survivor, I don't want to be interrupted in repairing, healing, opening a chest or doing a totem just to freaking scream. This hurts survivors way more! You could miss a skill check, have to start all over on a totem....imagine having Devour Hope almost destroyed and you lose it because you scream. Then he killer gets there and stops you. DUMB DUMB DUMB! No thank you! Never do this. I say this as someone who loves running Devour Hope on certain builds (works great on a no Ruin slow-down build with Thana, Sloppy and PGTW).

Seriously, think about how changes can impact this game. Think about ripple effects. I say this to killers all the time when they say they want to slow gen speeds down. You slow down gens, you finish off the solo player population and forced even more of them into joining SWF groups. You will regret it.

How do you fight against coms tho?

I am not chasing survivors for long and attempting to keep them injured. This works on SOLO SURVIVORS. Swf just call butt buddy #2 over to heal them and then they 40 sec a gen or split up again, and it rotates like that until all gens are done.

SWF is not in itself doom. Some are very good, most are not. I often mistake SWF as solo because of how bad they are.

You look at things in the wrong way.

    1. If only 2 people are on a gen, they cannot finish it in 40 seconds. It requires other factors.
    2. If 1 is injured and another is healing, that is 16+ seconds they are not on a gen. Two people off the gen is a good thing.
    3. Everything is situational. If I'm chasing someone who is good at looping, I'm not going to let them drag me through 3 gens just to get them down. I'll follow them if they are going to assist in breaking some key pallets, but will peel off the minute I hear a gen being worked nearby and LoS breaks, or I see someone else nearby. It is pointless to follow the team's best looper. Go for the weak link. You can figure out that link early if you are not hound-dogging one person.
    4. Comms can be used against them. If person 1 believes I'm chasing them and tells person 2 to stay on the gen, but at the next break in LoS he takes a few seconds (say 4) to realize I'm gone, I can score a quick hit on the person comfortably ignoring my TR because he thinks I'm chasing someone else. Furthermore, if I see one of them and I know they see me, I let them see me going in one direction until LoS is broken and switch directions. Let them feed bad info to their teammates. (OoO is the one weakness on this and is very OP in a good SWF's hands)
    5. Use their altruistic nature against them. Know when to slug, when to fake a pick up. Mind game them. This works more than it does not. If I have someone hooked and get a quick down nearby, I may slug them to try to locate a 3rd. That means all 4 are off the gens or they will have 2 dead (one hook and one bleed out). Use their information against them.

Is the cure all that always works? No, but it is how you deal with 90% of the SWF groups out there. There are those 10% groups though that it does not matter what you are doing. If you are not a top-tier killer (I admit I'm average to above average yet somehow still rank 2), you will struggle horribly.

I'm not saying gen speeds are all good. They can be seriously fast and blitzed hard (refer to those really good SWFs). What I'm saying is it is not as easy as extending gen times. Most matches are not gen-rush meta hit squads. Heck, I often have to slow down on most matches or risk not getting enough BP to satisfy my thirst. If you lengthened gen times, you will not only destroy most of those players, but you will force them into forming.....more SWFs. No thank you. There are many, many reasons why killers are struggling. Some are game mechanics, some are exploits, some are just that many killers have formed bad habits and do not have the experience needed to identify them yet. Or they don't want to admit.

I’m going to a killer addiction at the moment but I’m just so sick of vsing SWF and getting bullied :/

    anyone feel the same?

If you care about winning every match or being mocked for losing, don't do it. If you want to get lots of BP, have some fun, are tired of getting tunneled and can have some thick skin, do it.

I switched 3 years ago due to being tired of the constant tunneling and crap BP. I have zero regrets. I can decide weather to try hard or puts around and have some fun. I can put the pedal to the metal or hit cruise control. I don't have to worry weather the killer is try hard.

I do have to put up with SWF, whiney players who will accuse you of tunnel even when you try to avoid hitting them off the hook only for them to intentionally seek you out to body block in the chase you were already in. None of it bothers me because I still get lots of BP.

Have thick skin and take the time to learn.

Welcome to the world of online games where nobody gives a crap about decency towards teammates or other players.

It's the same in nearly all online multiplayer PvP games. Prime example is my go-to game league of legends or rocket league. Enemy teams gets first kill or goal -> instant DC

Sadly people don't care for morale or responsibility towards others as soon as they are protected by their anonymity online.

If this would happen in a well known circle of friends, at some point noone would invite them to play ever again.

I find it funny you say this because most of the games where I see someone dc are games where the killer is hardcore tunneling or camping. You are right about the lack of decency, just perhaps it should be aimed in both directions.

I've had only a few DCs, usually thos survivors who tried to be toxic and teabag on the other side of the window who then try to window tech me only to get downed. I've had maybe 4 of them out of 40 plus matches this weekend.

Sadly the killer cant apply pressure at the start of the match most of the time they are on the survivor when 2 gen are done because it take close to 40 sec to go to the other side of the map and survivor spawn on gen.so the problem with gen speed is the start of the game that why the game need to put something for this.

Considering the power of the killer to snowball games, I would disagree wholeheartedly. Otzdarva has a really good new killer tutorial he recently put out that talks about this. When the game starts, the advantage is heavy for the survivor. As it goes on, the pendulum swings heavy towards the killer.

Most of these matches where people show a video of a gen done in 40 seconds also end with a 3 to 4k. If a 40 second gen was the norm, these matches would all end in 0 to 1k. There are a lot of other factors in the game that include killers making bad decisions or killers who rank up with a lazy play style vs not good survivors only to get destroyed bs good ones at higher rank.

I was watching a streamer playing dbd. It ended well, with a 4k but... 4 gens were done in 2 minutes and 21 seconds. Yes, 2 minutes and 21 seconds. Decisive lasts 1 minute and they had 3 or 4 of it, then add chase time, hook time and all these things.

Luckily they stopped doing gens for some reason and that led to a 4k, but imagine if they didn't.

Please consider a ds nerf or secondary objectives for survivors.

It ended in a 4k. It shows there is more to the game than gen speeds. I main Trapper, I'm well aware of how fast gens are. I average 3 kills a game easy. Why? The game often slows to a crawl one we get to that 2 to 3 gen moment. I've established pressure. I try to be smart about when to drop chase and keeping more than 1 survivor off gens.

Gen speeds are tricky. You tweak them a tad and destroy gameplay for all but maybe some red ranks. What about slowdown builds? How do those effect gen speed if they are changed? Forever Freddy is already a death knell for all but the best survivor.

There is more to the killer play than gen speeds. Too many killers don't have the experience or time in game to recognize that.

  • It has definitely been more sweaty lately. This is two weeks in a row I tried survivor play again and it was anything but enjoyable. Moris, tunnel, camp. There were some who were fun matches, but even those get marred by horrible team members.

I could only take it for a bit, then back to trapping people in the fields of misery. I had a lot more fun that way.

  • The one thing I will not knock the devs on is the lore. Their created characters are pretty good. Trapper's lore is why I main him. Trapper is the man. If they ever make a movie about DbD, it better focus mainly on Trapper.

BTW, I think a Creepshow-style movie would be great for DbD. Huntress, Wraight, Nurse, Trapper, Spirit, and Hag would all be good to start with.

  • @SCP_FOR_DBD said:

Everyone is talking about it, it is in almost every single match. I made a poll about it, at this time 70% of the votes are for it to be nerfed. Why is this taking so long?

DS is a joke of what it once was. It used to be that DS gave an entire team immunity in the beginning of the game. They did not have to be hooked, it was without a time limit. They could skip using it and save it and save it if they wanted to. Nothing like eating 4 DS before the first hook and having 1 gen left.

DS is fine as is. The only tweak it may need is to deactivate when inside the locker.

I can't argue with the experience you'd had but mine has been completely the opposite.

I typically find that the reason so many people think so many killers are toxic is because a vast majority think things are toxic that simply aren't.

Though I agree that many non-toxic things are taken as toxic on both sides, there are some very sweaty builds that ruin the game for many people. I have been playing mostly killer tonight, but jumped on survivor to do a daily I can't get rid of. First match was a seriously sweaty Ebony Mori Ghost Face who tunneled each player right off the hook. Would mark the unhooker so they would not try to block and just mori. After the game he was all about "gg ez git gud". Sorry, but that is pretty darn toxic. HAd a similar group earlier as killer. All four DS, 2 lights, key, 2 OoO and no interest in doing gens, just tried to mess with me the whole time. End of the match was pretty toxic, even though I tried to keep it civil.

    In short, people suck.

    Reworked to be stronger??

You used to need to wiggle until 30% if you weren't the obcesion

    Now you don't

This rework is needed for a fair balance

Stronger my arse. You used to get DS'ed 4 times before getting the first hook in the game. There was no prerequisite to using DS. You would have 3-4 gens done before you could get someone on a hook in some games because everyone could DS out before you ever got a freaking hook. This new DS is way, way weaker. It is only strong if the killer is tunneling you. I get DS'ed about twice a week, sometimes upwards of 5 times. It is usually when the survivor is trying to be in my way because they have DS. The only change that is needed is DS should deactivate if you hop in a locker. Sorry, but that is the only real abuse I see. If they hope in my way, I down them and keep going. A slugged players is 2 off the gens. If they hop in a locker, it is merely to try and get me to pull them out for the DS. Disable that function and you have a perk that works fine. Slugging is a fine option if they get dumb.
