Any decent swf will be setting off your traps as fast as you can place them. i guess the survivors in your area are quite casual? Especially if 3 genning works for you.

LoL, I deal with SWF the same as anyone. Some are good, some not so much. SWF with OoO is a major issue for Trapper. Not what your point is though. It does not change my ability to push them off gens. If I waste to much time on one of them, they pop gens fast.

Still lots of BP, so no skin off my back.

It's a choice, yes, but unlike survivors, killers actually have a unique reason to max out each character. They are all separate characters with separate strategies and abilities. Survivors are just reskins.

I agree, but I don't want to overlook the idea that some survivors do play differently.

@jisp3r What? I had no clue. Been playing killer for three years and never realized that.

Try reading through and you will see the very real reason this is an issue.

    Spare the silliness please.

All survivors play the same, so you only need 1 max survivor. Survivors are just skins, but they all play the same. Once you reach level 40 on a survivor, you have all their teachables and there is no need to level them beyond that point unless you just like the way they look and sound. You do not need to teach every single survivor all of the 50+ survivor perks. You just get them to level 40 to get their teachable and that's that.

Each killer plays and handles differently. Huntress is not the same as Wraith, or Myers. They are more than just skins, and have varyingly different stats and powers and add-ons and all the like. So if you want the full killer experience, you have to level all of them. Beyond 50 to unlock all 50+ perks. On every single character.

That is pure choice. The "full killer experience " does not require unlocking all killers. I have a full experience with just 5 or 6 unlocked. Why? I've tried the others and did not like playing them. It's all choices.

As for survivor, they are not all just different skins. Many handle differently. Heck, I can tell you some are way louder and require IW if you want a stealth build. I can hear Jane from a mile away. As my buddy always says, the women are better for stealth builds because they are smaller....except Jane.

Maybe I misunderstood your statement below:

"Maybe instead of complaining about not making more BP (EVEN THOUGH SURVIVORS REALISTICALLY ONLY NEED TO MAX OUT ONE CHARACTER WHILE KILLERS NEED TO MAX OUT 20+ WHILE KEEPING A HEALTHY SUPPLY OF ADD-ONS AND SURVIVORS DON'T), you should ask for the grind to not be, I dunno, a grind."

What is it killers need to max out?

It was something that @Sairek said

I think you are referring to someone else's statement? I don't believe I made that statement.

Killers choose which ones to max out, same as survivors. Some killer players WANT to max out more or all. That is their choice. Killers and survivors need to get all the characters to a certain level to get their perks.

  • @Wylesong said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1463134#Comment_1463134

Why does survivor side only need to max one character but killers need to max 20+?

I figured both sides need to max all if they want to unlock all perks to be taught to each character? I could be wrong but like I need to max Dwight to unlock his perks so Kate can learn them in her blood web. The same goes for the killer side. I need to max Hag to have her perks on Legion.

This is completely untrue. First of all, both sides have to invest to get perks. As survivor, you max as many as you want, same as killer. I have 5 killers maxed and will likely never max any others. They are the five I like to run. I know several killer mains who have only one killer maxed because it is the only one they like to run. Nobody HAS to max 20 characters. That is a choice.

  • I think you missed much of this conversation if that is your only response. TLDR: Killer is tunneling/camping or just not good. Survivor is gen-jockying and escapes. Survivor does 2.5 gens and a totem. Survivor gets crap BP even though he completed the objectives and then escaped. The survivor is completely dependent on the killer engaging the survivors in chases and multiple hooks. It is hard to get healing/unhooks if there are no opportunities to do so.

  • There are already enough killer stuns in the game. Last thing we need is 4 man SWF's armed with this. Four of these stuns before you can even get a hook. Nope. Did that with old DS, never again.

  • My Trapper supports this message. Should be a Public Service Announcement - Please use Sprint Burst immediately as the match begins and every time you need to go somewhere. Thank you.

  • Overall, good conversation. I just want to be clear that I'm not saying survivors should get a buff. I'm saying non-killer-engaging activities should be worth more BP. Gens, totems, etc. Keep the 8k caps, but survivors can get royally screwed more than killers can on BP.

Heck, I might actually play survivor a bit more if the BP was better. Right now, there is zero upside to playing solo survivor over killer. None.

Obviously if you play the match with the sole target to 3 gen, you're bound to win.

Just like if you tunnel someone early out of the match, you're bound to win.

Gen-rushing also makes you bound to win.

None of this shlt should be in the game in the first place

No, three gen is different entirely. I am merely aware of my current killer's limitations. I usually lose a couple of gens in my chosen area because the survivors realize I'm guarding them. That forces them to play in my minefield with Trapper. That is nothing like tunneling. It slows the game down. By the time they break my gen strategy, I'll have most on dead hook or some dead. There is no quick death and it's a battle of wits from there.

3 Gen doc is not the same as preparing a battlefield to your advantage. It is also not toxic. That's quite the stretch.

  • I honestly don't see why PGTW would get nerfed. It is a nice balance and reward perk. Get a hook, slow down a gen. It has nothing to do with crippling survivors the way old Ruin did.

No, it should not be nerfed. It is a very balanced perk.

  • @DeadHardMan said:

This wouldn't really be an issue if BHR decided to buff WGLF since it's the survivor equivalent of BBQ.

Or, perhaps, take some pointless perks and turn them into BP perks. WGLF is barely useful a lot of the time. You have to get 4 safe hook rescues, or protection hits, which is not always obtainable in a match. Especially in matches where a killer is hardcore camping/tunneling. Even if you try to body block, many of these killers won't take the shot on you, they will instead move to isolate the rescued survivor. There should be other ways to get stacks, like finishing a gen while someone is in a chase, or being in chase while someone else is rescued safely from a hook. Team-focused achievements should give stacks.

I DON'T want to see any type of aura site, or funny business on the perk. Chili and WGLF are not meant to be opposites of each other, they have very different functions.

  • @andyollolloll said:

Survivor BP should less. It is a 4v1 so it should be 50% for killer & 50% for survivors, so 12.5% each.

I'd love to play survivor over killer and then get even more BP but it shouldn't with that way.

Can I ask, why don't you just play killer?

I don't think you are paying attention.

    1. I do main killer (My Trapper, Pig, Doc, Huntress, Freddy and Hag have every perk - except PH's because I just never pulled the trigger on buying him....boring and uninspired killer imo.)
    2. If everyone just decided to play killer to get more bp, how would we play anymore?
    3. You approach the concept like there is a limited pool of BP, and that is not the case. Technically, based on bp caps for each category, it is a 20% split across the board with each capable of getting 32k bp. It's the BP actually given for tasks that is in question. The killer gets the bulk of their bp from engaging in the main objective, chasing and killing survivors on hooks. Survivors get less bp for focusing on their main objective, doing gens and escaping. The bulk of survivor BP comes from looping the killer - which is bass ackwards. What we are saying is that survivors should get more BP for things other than looping the killer. The focus is on the fact that survivor BP is entirely dependent on killer interaction. If a group of survivors get a killer who refuses to engage anyone other than the 1 they tunnel/camp, then all survivors will get crap BP even if 3 do the gens and escape. That is a bad formula.
  • I had fun playing killer last night. Not sure what is keeping you from having fun, but it is likely your opinion on what fun is. Pretty subjective topic.

Back to having fun chasing survivors.

  • Let me get this straight, we say killer is skill based and survivor isn't. Keep in mind my Trapper and I are bouncing between rank 1-3 depending on the day. I'm nowhere near the skill level of an Otzdarva or Zubatlel. Yet, I rank up with absolute ease. Killer is not that hard.

When survivors come in and complain about camping and tunneling, we tell them to get gud or don't get caught. So we openly admit it takes skill to loop a killer, but we now say there is no skill in playing survivor? When Ruin was changed we screamed that survivors just needed to get better at hitting great checks, which means they needed to be more skilled, yet we claim there is no skill at survivor.

I'm sorry, but this is pure hypocrisy. I face very skilled survivors all the time. They both rank up too easy. There are boosted survivors and killers (myself included) in the red ranks. Not a very high skill cap for either.

Oh look, made more than the "average" and more than the killer:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/49IQ3SRL5X5E/image.png

Here's one around the time I came back from my DBD break. Above the average and around the killer's BP.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SAAM9WOEYTGO/image.png

And there's been plenty more. Of course, I don't screen shot every match where I get a good BP number as survivor or every time a killer gets a pitiful amount of BP.

Like, I don't understand. Survivors share BP (between gens, totems, being chased by the killer, doing saves, etc) between three other people, and survivor is a much easier role than killer. They shouldn't consistently make as much or more BP as them, and they have not once, not twice, but three times increased the amount of BP survivors get in the past year and a half. They made totems give more BP (twice). They gave BP for wiggling even if you don't escape, they gave BP on dying or living as the obsession.

Maybe instead of complaining about not making more BP (even though survivors realistically only need to max out one character while killers need to max out 20+ while keeping a healthy supply of add-ons and survivors don't), you should ask for the grind to not be, I dunno, a grind.

What's the difference between asking the grind to not be such a grind and asking for more BP rewards? I rarely tread into the survivor realm simply because the average BP of survivor is crap in comparison.

Your screen shots are great. They show what kind of BP a survivor can make vs a good killer who is likely not wasting the whole game focused on 1 or 2 players while ignoring all others. My killer end screens look very similar. But when I switch to survivor, I see the numbers change on average. They change a lot. It can often take 2 to 3 survivor matches to equal 1 killer match. I despise playing survivor because of it.

I played 4 survivor matches last night and had around 60k because 3 of them were vs killers that would not engage me due to their absolute focus on 1 survivor. I then played 4 killer matches, in the same amount of time due to quick ques, and made around 200k. As survivor I ran WGLF and PtS for BP. As killer I ran Chili. No offering as killer.

    Yeah, no problem here.

If the killer tunnels one person, they aren't getting a lot of BP either. What's your point?

The survivor is dependent upon the killer for good BP. If the killer face camps and the remaining survivors do gens and leave, as is the constant advice of killers on the forum, then the 3 escapees are hosed for BP at no fault of their own.

I'm just pointing out that survivor BP truly needs a bump, specifically in the o objectives, healing and non killer engagement aspects. There is tons of BP for looping the killer already.

It's the reason I moved to killer 3 years ago. The difference is astounding.

  • @SloppyKnockout said:

Survivors are a team of 4. Killers are a solo entity. The killers job is harder. Thus, he gets more points.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1462596#Comment_1462596

Sounds like a team full of immersed newbs who were afraid to get into chases etc.

No, it was a rank 17 in the match getting tunneled to death by a rank 7 killer. The rest of us hit gens and escaped. You can't get BP if the killer is too focused on the one character. We tried body blocking and protecting her, but he did not care at all for anyone but her. So, yeah. It is what it is.

It's why I am playing killer though.

  • @slim0b said:

Ahh, the classic "CAMPING AND TUNNELING, REEEEEEEEEEE".

Just admit to it, you can still easily get gen-rushed if you spread the damage. Numerous videos of streamers getting 2 hooks on 4 survivors have only lead them to their demise. 1 kill and "Brutal Killer" in the match lobby.

Not really. I run mostly M1 killers like Trapper. I spread the damage and pressure the gens. I pick an area of the map and that is my zone. I get 8+ hooks in every match. They knock out the first few gens pretty quick, but then it slows down. Keeping them off the gens, picking my spots to chase, not going into dead zones with no gens during a chase, etc. Camping and tunneling are for weak-minded players. They fear losing, they fear growing and learning tactics. It's fine, if that is how you want to play, so be it, but don't cry about gens popping too fast because of it. The literal counter to camping and tunneling that is always recommended by killers on this forum is to "do the gens and leave." Seriously.....

Gen rush is a joke. Are coordinated teams insanely fast and make you have to make very few mistakes, yup! That is what separates the good killers/survivors from the mediocre. I consider myself to be mediocre. When I get owned in a match, I don't blame the game, I know I made lots of mistakes.

  • @Toybasher said:

Well I think it depends on what the MMR will consider a win. Winning isn't black and white secure the 4K or escape. I assume MMR will try to predict the outcome like "Killer should get at least X hook events this match. If he gets more, he did above expectations and his MMR goes up" etc.

I hope it's hook events as just kills would make facecamping everyone to death an easy way to rank up. Personally when I play killer I've had matches where nobody died, I got 8 hooks (So everybody was hooked twice) and I still felt satisfied and that I did my job.

Same here. I rarely get less than 25k in a match because I do spread the damage around. Lots of hooks a death or two and I'm happy. If I get a 4k, great, if not, oh well. I don't know that my skill level deserves the red ranks that I achieve rather easily though. So I'm hoping this will work things out for all of us. When I face a team of good survivors and I'm rank 2 and they are rank 2 and they smoke me, I'm pretty sure I'm over-ranked.

  • I don't like locking survivors, but I do think that when they switch, all items and offerings are reset on the new survivor. So if they try that last second switch, they enter with nothing.

I don't mind them switching skins, but seeing empty hands turn into 3 flashlights and a key at the last second could seriously change my perk layout.

Id rather not be forced to sit in a game and be a hackers plaything.

Im not too fussed about disconnects. Before it was 1st hook suicides which wasnt much better. Game was thrown either way.

This. I've only seen 1 DC all night. 4 Survivor games and 7 killer matches so far. Not exactly a plague. I'm playing in the red ranks with mostly red rank survivors as well. (Which is strange! Usually a rainbow of survivors)

    Survivor BP is fine.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/OXW5O1DZ6W8W/image.png

Totems give 1,000 BP in 14 seconds (1,500 BP if it's a hex). Generators give 1250 (without skill checks) in 80 seconds. I don't know why you think totem BP is crap.

You are showing one end of the spectrum. I saw several matches today with 5 gens done, and escapes where the survivors barely scratched 12k due to the killer only going for 2 players. Sorry, but that is pure bs.

  • @Chewy102 Yes, it was not just me though. It was everyone in the match. We all talked about it afterwards. The killer was having troubles as well.

Furthermore, when it happened to me in my last match (I was killer) I asked the survivors and they spoke of similar issues.

  • Yes. Have had screen freeze issues for a couple of weeks now. I have great internet and a new alienware gaming computer. That is not the issue. When a gen pops, or something like that, my screen freezes for a second as a killer. Made the huge mistake of playing survivor just now. Three matches, three times the screen freezes when a survivor is downed or hooked or a gen is done and anyone in stage 2 suddenly dies. It was impacting everyone in the match.

  • Feels like it has gotten worse over the past few months.

  • No on this one. Hex totems are powerful. There are some maps where their locations are already really hard to find. A perk that made it harder, no. One that ensured they lasted for a couple of minutes? Sure. A perk that encased all the totems in a black goo for the first 2-3 minutes of a match would be worth doing.

I can stop a match cold with DH. If I have a perk that toys with your ability to find and destroy it when it activates? Game over.

  • I'd rather just see good lore. The cast is really diverse already and has some pretty good lore. I'd rather them focus on the best story as opposed to force certain nationalities in.

  • Some of it sounds fun, like the vault trap, but it is also really strong. I would not mind seeing an addon to trap a gen. The next person that gets on the gen injures their hand and causes it to blow up like a missed check would.

  • Trapper is my absolute favorite killer and I've mained him for three years now. I vote no way on this. Way too strong. Just give Trapper the ability to carry an extra trap as base kit and get new ones (with a max) from lockers. That fixes his issues.

  • @Oicimau said:

At least 4 out of 5 in the match are having fun and a chance.

That's because solo survivor is almost not playable for most.

We are pushing this game into a corner.

  • I get nonstop survivor dailies even though I main killer. When I do get a killer daily it is for a killer I don't play and only took perks from. For instance, I get tons of Oni and Demo dailies. I don't use either.

  • @Primalux135 said:

That is why I try to not get triggered over items being brought in. If I am concerned, I'll load Franklin's. Otherwise, I make sure I keep situational awareness so I pay attention if the game has gotten to where the hatch might be spawned and a key might be present.

Honestly unless you have NOED up, 3 survivors can definitely co-ordinate a save on one guy during the EGC. If they can't and chicken out they're REALLY bad survivors, and boring too. The EGC is the most fun and chaotic part of the match, I live for that ######### because it's so funny when you're with friends and you're trying to save 1 person but you all end up clowning out and give the killer a 4k right at the very end. Easily the best part of the game and it's always fun for the killer too.

There are some plays to be made. That is what makes EGC so much fun in that situation. I only run NOED as part of specific builds, so don't have it up that often. It is fun having those mind games though.

Can killers have anything strong without toxic entitled survivor mains crying about it to the devs

This is a joke post, right? How long have you played killer? We are so much stronger than we were 3 years ago. We are in pretty good position with the only true glaring problem being SKILLED SWF teams vs basic SWF vs solo. I can wreck most solo teams with nearly any killer, and do overwhelmingly well vs basic SWF. Skilled SWF teams are a pure nightmare. I main Trapper, and also enjoy Pig, Doc, Freddie and Huntress.

People on both sides cry and whine. It is what it is.

  • @DBD_Noobinoob said:

I know there are many posts about "unfair" survivor / killer perks, addons, abilities around here, and I don't want this post to be one of those. I'm not whining, I wanna know what ya'll think about that, and instead of being flamed for my post being toxic / me being entitled, I'd be happy about advices for how to play against that.

I'm talking about Michael's red addon. I think it is too strong, because I think it is impossible for Michael to lose a game when he plays that perk. Nothing's stopping him. I am aware that playing stealth would be a good idea, also to spread out a little, but since gens HAVE to be done, he WILL find survivors sooner or later. Combined with his lunge attack, I think this is impossible to beat for survivors.

Michael is one of my 3 main killers, but I have never played this addon and don't plan to do so. This is NOT about survs vs killers, so please don't hijack my thread for that stupid war. I just want to know if ya'll agree or not, and if you have some good strategy to at least have a chance against that? I've faced 3 Michaels using it today and it's really frustrating to feel like we haven't the slightest chance.

Honestly, this addon does not bother me too much. It is well balanced. It takes a lot of stalking to get it going and can often get wrecked by a DC, hook suicide or if you tunnel down a survivor too fast before stalking them.

With Huntress' hatchet, you get an instant down from the start and can use an addon to carry 2. With IM, you replace them fast and can completely wreck a team before they do 1 to 2 gens. Not so with permanent T3.

Leave the addon as is and it's up to survivors to avoid the stalk in order to prolong it.

As a while, Shape is one of the better balanced killers. Should not worry about touching anything on him until several others are done.

  • More range, let's give an addon to let him truly try to snipe from a hill or balcony. Increase his TR. When you can see him chasing you and have chase music but no TR, that is rediculous.

Deathslinger is one I don't mind facing on the rare occasions where they are not running MA.

  • The doctor's giggle gets me every time. It totally ups his creepiness factor.

Ghostface sounds like a tire just went flat.

Pig sounds too cute when she is hit. Almost feel like I kicked a puppy.

It sounds as if he hooked the guy and the other 3 immediately swarmed the hook. In that case, this is zero camping, bc what else is he supposed to do? Run to an exit gate to see if there's a fifth survivor?

Completely agree. As I said, I hate camping, but just had a match where they kept running up to unhook in front of me. Sorry, but at that point I'm throwing out all decency and taking down whoever's easiest.

You can't help if they are being stupid. If you prefer to play by a gentleman's code then that is all good, but don't sweat the groups that force your hand.

  • First of all, camping and tunneling are legal in the game.

That said, camping and tunneling is just as toxic as swarming the hook, coordinated body blocking and flashlight swat team SWFs. Both suck and are no fun to play against.

But, even those who hate seeing camping (as in camping from the first hook on) will admit that once the gens are done, and you have a hook, camping it is completely understandable. I hate playing vs campers, but I would never, ever blame someone for camping a hook in late game.

I prefer the killer role and I hate to camp, but may camp that EGC hook.

    You did nothign wrong.

  • I don't understand the obsession with some of these streamers. Many of them are very overrated. Tru3 being one of them. I've seen Zu and Monto do way better at every killer than Tru3. He gets owned by good survivors then blames the game, regardless of his own mistakes. Many on this list are like that.

I think it is difficult to say who is the best without equal playing fields. Same map, same survivors, same perks, same killer/perks. Then run the test. The thing that makes Otz and Zu as good as they are, is they identify their mistakes and learn from them and improve. They don't make excuses.

I'd like to see the devs organize an event where they have set survivors for each killer. Participating streamers get one game with each killer vs these same survivors. The builds are chosen ahead of time and the killer does not know what survivors are running and vice versa. See how well each does.

If I may ask, how do you figure out people run Spine Chill? If they stealth away when you're crouching towards a gen? If that happens, I usually think that someone saw me and called me out or sth like that. Just wondering if there's a "safe way" to tell if someone plays Spine Chill when I play Amanda.

You play long enough and you learn to identify it. They kept vanishing except for when I moonwalked all the way up to them. Caught them flatfooted doing that. Definitely Spinechill.

Try approaching while looking in a different direction. You'll mess up a lot at first, but will get it right over time.

You do realize how pointless this post is, right? For one, you have zero power to enforce anything as killer unless you are just going to play every match as a sweaty op killer like tunneling forever Freddy. Two, you really don't know. You don't have eyes everywhere to see who is doing what. Sure, sometimes you can get a good feel that someone is skating on the work of others, but that is often mistaken.

For instance, if I run a Houdini build and you rarely see me or catch me EVing around, you might assume I'm slacking, yet when I play that build, I'm super active. Played it last week, got 3 gens, 4 saves, 4 totems and vanished on the killer twice. The killer asked htf I had so many points at the end and my solo teammates all mentioned seeing me doing gens rescues, etc. The killer initially said I did not deserve to escape because the others did all the work, he actually apologized afterwards and said he was impressed.

    Don't always assume you know.

When in my post did you see me say it should be to get head kills not everybody who suggests a buff to bear traps wants for kills.

If I wanted to get unfair no skill head pops I would just run tampered timer and jigsaw sketch. Tampered timer being an add-on that I feel like needs a rework

Amanda is also my main she's been there since her release. Also you seem to act like survivors don't have any common sense.

It takes you approximately 3 to 5 hooks for you to properly start getting huntress lullaby online.

If you choose to save all your trap for bed then you're losing a bunch of stall and you're likely going to get rushed.

You choose to spread them out then some of the jobs are not going to be under the critical effect of huntress lullaby and even then people could just 99% gens until they either find a totem or someone gets it off.

Relax, I was following the natural conclusion of no chime box checks. There will be many more head pops due to taking much longer to get the checks right, if at all.

As for 99% gens, they will stop doing that fast if you are patrolling and kicking gens. It will waste a ton of time. I've seen lots of tactics used against my Pig, but 99 is not used often because they figure out early that I'm everywhere.

If I remember correctly, there was a time where Lullaby was affecting box checks. I want to say it was a bug. I just remember there being lots of explosions from missed checks and a spike in head pops. It may have been sometime before the healing nerf 2 years ago.

Either way, I think it is a bad idea and it would discourage me from using Lullaby on Pig as I like to maximize my gameplay experience and bloodpoint.

  • I know a ton of people with similar fashion who are not bisexual. As Cyandide said above, representation is all well and good, but who gives a crap about what sexuality the prey is in this game? They die no matter what.

  • Nor should it. Pig is one of my main killers, and even I know that the RBT is not meant to be a main source of killing a survivor. It is a threat that thay can't ignore and it buys you time as a killer. Time is the most precious commodity a killer has. Every survivor not on a gen is a bonus.

If survivors start popping heads due to RBT being impacted bi Lullaby, that wipes out all the BP gains and likely leads to a depip. No bueno.

  • Rise of the SWF! Coming to theaters soon!

Dude, over half the community is toxic as both SWF and killer. Should we punish them all? Nerf survivor to the ground? Make it so new players are destroyed more than they are now?

This game is not fixable. Either play it as is or go to another game.

If you want to lose the toxicity, you change KYF/Custom match. Let people have some creative control and a BP system of it's own. Give it a lobby and let players set rules to their games and attract the types of community players they want. No keys, no Moris, or whatever you want. That is about the only way to fix the toxicity issue.

  • Lullaby is fine. I use it in several builds. Tamper with it too much and you could have a domino effect.

  • When I first started playing killer, I'd constantly swing at people who were awake. Very sad.
