Exactly this, this was the number one complaint I saw - that survivors couldn't dodge like before. There was like a stutter between the movements as well which felt awful, the current animations updated yesterday feel a lot smoother to play with.
I just wish the animations didn't look even worse then the orginal ones. Now when you're crouched and want to move your camera angle, your character's head teleports to the direction you want to look instead of them actually turning their head like a normal person.
-
Turning while crouched looks awful now. Your character's head just teleports to where you want to look instead of them actually turning their head.

I think you're right so maybe even the one-piece items will return with the full set.
I could see that but a lot of those single piece cosmetics never belonged to a full set, I think the Hag skin might of been the one exception.

Yeah that what it seems like. Hardly exciting for people that chase exclusive content but good to know. I still wish they would just outline the exclusives at the start of each Rift rather than this ambiguity of not knowing.
Wasn't that Hag head (hair) for that outfit in the second Rift though? And in the banner it looks like the full outfit, head included.

They are coming out soon, saw that posted today. I found the list of rewards for Awakening and besides charms, looks like the Huntress Cat Mask, Nea's ugly wig and shirt, and David's shirt and pants are exclusive (so far).
Oh I didn't see that. Yeah maybe just the charms and the cosmetics that weren't part of full outfits.
-
The Dwight and Meg recolors still haven't released as for as I know. All that has come out into the store are orginal outfits so maybe the charms and recolors will remain exclusive?
-
@Gylfie said:
As the comment above mine said, all rift cosmetics will eventually become available in the store.
They never said all, they said most. And they never specified if charms would be the only thing to remain exclusive.

Makes no sense. With every other set in the game I can somewhat see why the devs decided to link them (with the exception of the Twins "Blood and Guts" outfit, why is that linked BHVR?!). But Cheryl's green skins, excuse me? I don't see a problem there. Wish BHVR would just tell us the reasoning for it.
-
I like this one because the cosmetics don't stretch anymore. I would like unique idle animations for all survivors though in game like in the lobby.

I was being sarcastic when they said that Feng being lesbian would only appeal to straight men lol

Making the cute Asian gamer girl be the rainbow member would be for the straight guys more than anyone else...
Right because there probably aren't any lesbians that adore Feng lol
-
I think it's Nea personally. But if it HAS to be a character that hasn't gotten an archive yet, I'd suggest Adam.
As for the gay girls vs boys thing, I would say male homosexuality is so much more common in media then female. Lesbians need more representation too!
-
You're kidding me. Survivors actually extend their bodies before they run and as they stop, also when they crouch. They trip every once in a while when they run injured. I could go on. The only thing I don't think looks all that great is the idle animation, but I'm not complaining because the cosmetics don't stretch anymore.

I would argue that the devs don't very, very often make far worse decisions than good ones. Unlike the games you mentioned, this is an asymmetrical game, meaning there is always going to be tribalistic bs from people who are attached to one side over the other. Any change that people perceive as hurting their preferred side, which will be most for people in that mindset, will be panned. Eventually they start getting frustrated with the developers for continually pushing changes they feel hurt their side. This is compounded by the fact that many people only come to the forum to complain, often when they're still frustrated about a recent match. This isn't unique to DBD - it's just how forums tend to be - but it still contributes to the overall negativity on the forum and reinforces anti-developer points of view.
This game has gotten steadily better since its early days. Balance is substantially better, a massive amount of new content and features have been released, the strength gap between the best and worst killers and the information gap between SWF and solo queue have both shrunk, the game is visually much better looking than it used to be, the game is on more platforms now, Steam reviews have gotten steadily better over time, etc. The devs also still actively support the game close to five years after launch and the player base has been robust over the past several months compared to where it was historically. And yet, if you only read the forums, you'd think the game was going down the tubes.
I have spent about a year on this forum, which is long enough to see a very consistent trend in how the community reacts to pretty much any new change, regardless of whether or not it's good for the game. People are so blinded by their forum-reinforced bias that they swear the developers only listen to one side, despite all evidence to the contrary and the fact that it flies in the face of common sense. Then I get accused of white knighting for the sin of playing both sides and caring more about overall game health than pet issues for survivor or killer mains.
---
The devs are far from perfect. I personally wish they would slow down their release cycle and put more time and effort into improving performance, fixing bugs, and generally just improving the game's polish. Still, though, if you look at this game at launch compared to now, it's clear the game has come a long way in the right direction.
Well said! I still think the UI and Animation changes were blown wayyy out of proportion by this community. I'm not saying they're good but people are actually saying that it's killing the game. It's not.

The new animations look so out of place, playing survivor is literally robot simulator now.
The old animations was a robot simulator. Absolutely no flow in their movement.

At least if you did the glitch it's still avaliable on your character, you just can't change cosmetics. I'm never taking my flower crown off Kate lol
-
Thanks for the heads up. Even if it is just a visual bug, better to be safe then sorry. I don't want to lose my flower crown Kate. I'm gonna keep it on her for as long as I can!

Already fixed my man, thanks to their priorities.
Oh I thought you were talking about something that wasn't fixed yet. And earlier yesterday my friend had her outfit changed randomly so I thought this was a new glitch you were talking about.

Moderator states they're doing this to build a better game in the future. Is that a near future?
Every single of your updates breaks something, even this simple 4.5.1 simple ass hotfix you managed to break animations, un-hooking, changing character's clothing and god knows what else.
What's this about changing characters clothing!? I do not want to lose my flower crown Kate because of a glitch like that!

I remember one of the first games I ever played was GTA Vice City when I was like 5. Loved that game lmao.

I never looked at the ui anyway. Always looked at their aura.

It's barley been a week calm down. For all we know we could have a hot fix tomorrow since it's Tuesday
Also they don't work on the weekends so they've only had 3 days to work since the patch dropped.
-
I don't think they're gamebreaking. Annoying yes, but not gamebreaking. I've played for several hours the last few days and had a great time.

Your opinions have value too, by saying one thing you can make someone go in one direction or the other, thats how people made Behaviour put up that notice saying "We've heard you loud and clear. Our team is working to find some solutions to the feedback on the latest update, We're focusing on fixing bugs, issues with hitboxes and we are reviewing some elements of the changes in the HUD (UI) and the survivor movement."
People need to understand that their words have value attached to them, and not keep taking everything they do.
I already said like before: people like you can guide companies like them into being greedier or stop getting them to make mistakes.
But I don't think the animations are a mistake. I like them all. If BHVR listens to just me when a majority don't like the animations, that's on them, not me. I'm just stating my honest opinion.

Oh god sir, have we offended you? By thinking like the rest? you seem agitated that some people came to the same conclussion! Did 2021 also ban like-minded people now? How dare these "children" think an animation looks like something this blasphemous! Like its almost too childish too talk about!
Seriously get off your high horses, your not any better than the rest of us in this discussion, too me it looks like they need to get to a loo at an instant.
Never said I was. Not sure why you're being rude. It was just my opinion. 🤷♂️

I wish we could hold a poll and see how many people thought the old animations were a major problem and made the game so unplayable. Other stuff like DS and balancing couldve happened this patch instead of something useless what nobody asked for.
No one disliked the old animations. Just like no one disliked the old generator animations. That's not why they were changed. They were changed to make game look more realistic and immersive. You don't need to hate something for it to be changed. Especially when it comes to esthetics.

Have you considered you're just wrong? You know, since pretty much everyone else thinks it looks like that.
I don't think they look like that. In fact I think it's rather childish to think that. Them placing their hand over their stomach (which was the same as before by the way) and running at a different angle with more steps and an occasional trip does not at all look like they need to use the restroom. No it's not perfect but I never once thought a silly thing like that.
I think one person pulled that description out of a hat and everyone stuck with it, just to agree with them. Again it's not a perfect animation. But I never once thought when I was running injured. Oh God my survivor looks like she's about to crap her pants.
-
There are exclusive skins on mobile but a lot of those have been coming to the other platforms as Rift rewards.

Someone said it's still working

I'm a bit of a fence-sitter on that one; on the one hand, I worked really hard to finish the previous rifts, so it does feel like something of an accomplishment to have everything unlocked. On the other hand, I started playing after the Summer BBQ event, and I remember really wanting Kate's Songbird shirt, and was very excited when it unlocked for everyone.
I feel like a fair compromise is putting them in the shop where people have to pay a premium to get them, but I also sympathize with those who were unaware that the cosmetics would eventually unlock and feel as though they've lost the appeal of exclusivity.
Yeah I understand. That's why I kinda hope the recolors will remain exclusive and the actual new outfits will release eventually.
So far the only outfits that have released into the store from the Rift are unique outfits. Jake's lunar new year outfit being the most recent one.

As far as I know there haven't been any other collections since the Back to School ones, but you're right, that could (and likely will) change.
But some of the previous rifts also included recolours of pieces that belong to sets, and I'm hoping they'll finish those off eventually (I think there are 2 Blueberry-coloured pieces to Claudette's Shrub Scholar set, and Jane's pink hair is a recolour belonging to her Waterfront Massacre set.) I actually do think it would be encouraging to play the next rift if you knew it had the final piece you needed for a collection you'd gotten through previous rifts.
That being said I (clearly) just like having options to make my survivors look distinct from the others in a trial.
Kinda bummed the Rift cosmetics aren't exclusive personally but I get it. I wonder if the recolors are exclusive though. As far as I know the Meg and Dwight recolor outfits are the only full outfits from the first Rift that haven't released into the store yet.

If you come from a planet inhabited solely by robots, sure the animations are believable.
The old animations are the robotic ones. Absolutely no flow or movement. The survivors actually extend their bodies when they walk, crouch, and run now instead of stopping dead in their tracks...like a robot.

Thanks - I was curious when I realized that Hag was in every tome up until this one (and Legion has been in every tome since the second.) Meg, however, is the only character to have been featured in every tome in some way.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1939201#Comment_1939201
I feel like that's a likely possibility, since there are only 3 more survivor recolours to go (and I can't imagine they'll put both Claudette recolours in the next tome since we're still waiting on her Community skin.)
More Mobile cosmetics could come out though. They usually like to wait a while before porting them though. They haven't released anymore since the "Back to School" collection have they? There used to be a new collection every month.
-
I really want the Jane red suit recolor from mobile. Hopefully it's in the next Rift!
-
I agree. People just hate change. Regardless of whether it's good or bad. And this change does in no way make the game broken.
-
The purpose of the ptb isn't to fix any or most of the bugs/issues present in the patch released directly after that. Unless of course it's a game breaking bug.
It's purpose is so that the hot fix we get directly after the update doesn't take weeks longer then it usually does.

Wish they'd stop giving Yui biker outfits. Like we get it, she's a biker, let's get something different.
I wouldn't expect anything different for her Tome outfit. Usually it's an outfit based on their lore.

Agreed. By using that excuse, might as well just get rid of the PTB since they don't give a ######### about what people say
Having no PTBs would mean those hot fixes we get would come weeks later then we're used too.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/226098/proof-that-the-devs-are-actual-people
Communication should have been better? almost every single player said they hate the new UI, they admitted that on stream and said they're pushing it anyway so the console players get a say even though they seen it and also posted on the forum saying they dont like it.
If they were actual people that make mistakes dont u think they would have adressed this by now on their twitter or the their forum?
But instead silence for the last 2 days! the event is tommorow, the rift came out today and the game is unplayable for longer periods of time
Unplayable?? No. Not even close. I've been playing for a few hours today. Played for several yesterday and I had a hell of a good time. Yes the hitboxes are crappy right now but that doesn't make the game unplayable.

Was it a paid outfit on Mobile? Wonder if they'll replace the outfit in the Rift with something else.
No it was free on mobile but you had to unlock it through mystery boxes.
This same thing happened a couple Rifts ago with Meg's Alpine vest. It was accidentally given to us for free. And was taken away the next update because it was a Rift reward.

It being given to us for free was a mistake.

Current idle animations would be acceptable for Bill, Ash or Meg, I agree!
But those animations on Survivors like Claudette and Dwight just baffle me, because they don't fit their personalities.
That's why I'd like unique idle animations for every survivor.
