They need to stop but how do we reach the monetisation team to give our feedback?
I’m sure they are quite aware. The only feedback they likely care about is dollar signs. Short term profit at the expense of community good will. An interesting choice given the games inaccessibility to new players.
-
Not shocked at all. It does not appear they have responded to discontent in the forums about it either. Look for summer stuff to disappear next.

If you play Wraith or even more so Hag then Franklins against flashlights, or lobby dodge
That's for the rec. Honestly you shouldn't have to waste a perk spot to counter such an outdated mechanic or even worse dodge.

Is this not how 'event rewards' typically always work, in DBD history and across most other games?
'Exclusivity' has always been a thing, and some players value that. Consider the legacy skins, what if they were made available in the store at any time?
I understand 'cash shop' items are a little different, but lets not pretend that 'event items' are suddenly a controversial topic because of it.
It’s all FOMO. Both event cosmetics and time limited cosmetics in the store demand that you stay engaged. What would happen if legacy cosmetics were in the store? I suspect a lot more people would have and enjoy them along with more money for BHVR. The only people who win with the current model are original players who enjoy their artificially scarce item. I have never understood the mindset of people who get joy out of something because others can’t have it, especially something that can easily be replicated.

You're describing what every other online game does.
As an example, Neopets is basically a 90s game that is entirely built in FOMO and is still alive till today. I, myself, lost an exclusive neopets avatar that is only available every 1st december, sadly.
That is not a justification. Also Neopets appears to be Free to Play. BHVR is employing F2P tactics in an honestly expensive game.

@BarnesFlam said:
That's the Fear of Missing Out you're describing, aka FOMO.
Yes. I thought we could illustrate how it is working here. Dredge is one of my favorite Killers, I love his Masquerade skin but I was not playing during the event. I can’t even buy it with money now. A message has been received. Stay engaged or miss out on more. What a coincidence, his Snowman skin is on it’s way.

I saw this movie with much anticipation and it delivered. One my fave horror movies. I thought about the Smile Entity in DBD. Issue it does not have a consistent visual representation. Perhaps smiling versions of Survivors would be a cool concept.
That said it only has the one movie and is new. Guest characters tend to be horror legends. Perhaps one day…
-
This is quite likely the worst chapter release they have had. Vittorio, his perks, and Knight’s perks are solid. The Knight himself and the map are a debacle.

As always, we try to let things settle before making any significant changes. The first few weeks tend to be very unreliable when it comes to performance. People need time to learn how to play as and against them. Even if the feedback ends up being totally on point in the end, it's safest to wait and be sure rather than making sweeping changes for something that turns out to not be as big of an issue as we initially thought. This early on, we're mostly focused on glaring issues that need to be resolved ASAP and bugs that may impact them (we have a few fixes in the works, more info on that will be shared today).
That said, we see all the posts, they are not going unnoticed. The team is well aware and will be keeping all of it in mind when it comes time to review.
I think this approach is fair for the most part. That said the issues with The Knight and his map are so glaring that waiting weeks might be highly detrimental. People have already stopped playing as him, Killers immediately DC when they get his map, Survivors (especially SWF) will bring his map offering for an easy win, and multiple high profile streamers demonstrate a level of disdain for Knight I have never seem from them.

This is one of the suggestions of all time.

Survivors should not know when Knight is using their power.
It really is quite a bizarre choice. It’s as if Survivors have permanent training wheels against him.

@EvilSerje said:
Finally played on it with Knight. The only solution - 3 gen, which I guarded from the start. Then you win, but it is a very boring and long game. It is what it is.
“It is what it is” is a phrase for when there is not a good solution. All the devs have to do here is disable this debacle of a map. They decreased the frequency which acknowledges there is a problem, but for some reason they are okay with it happening just sometimes.
-
@Mooks said:
It’s been confirmed by a mod that there is a bug that one tile on the map spawns too many pallets.
apparently this isn’t considered gamebreaking enough for BHVR to killswitch it
Just ONE tile? Have they played the map or watched someone else do it?

20 minute queues? Unlikely, killer queues have been longer than survivor for months.
Survivors have adapted to faster cooldowns for killers, like they were told to <3
I don't mind this flashlight change because the amount of VPNing killers I see hopping from NA / OCE to the EU is getting a little ridiculous now, I get more killers with bad ping in one day than I see survivors with in a week.
I could barely find a Survivor game earlier in year before the patch that actually buffed Killers. 10-20 minute queues were quite real.
-
@Seanzu said:
oh well, I guess they'll have to adapt.
Wonder would say this regarding a Survivor complaint.
Who knows. If it is bad enough Killers will “adapt” by playing something else! Enjoy your 20 min queues to go against sweaty Starstruck Nurses I suppose.
-
I'm excited for the bots. Both Knight and Vittorio seem to have a great perks. Everyone was talking about Hubris but I'm excited about No Where to Hide. I'm completely disappointed by the lackluster changes to Knight though, he is going to end up in the darkness with the Twins, if we don't see more drastic changes.
-
It's just a poorly designed perk. Either it is game breaking, depriving the Killer of their main objective consistently or it is borderline useless. It is mostly in the second category now, although in rare instances coordinated Sabo squads can make it a nightmare for Killers to deal with. The perk needs a total rework.
-
@versacefeng said:
This is only 3 killers? You make it seem like half the killer roster has elements in their power that benefit survivors.
Knight is the most egregious example and he is the newest Killer. The vast consensus is he is not that strong yet him using his power can give Survivors a significant boost. Best this does not become a trend. I predict you will see him a fair amount for a day or 2 then he will hang out along side Twins as a Killer almost no one plays. Certainly not like Wesker who is well designed and we still see quite commonly.

There's definitely more TBH, OP is just bad at listing them.
- Wraith can be lightburned
- Nurse can be lightburned
- Hag flashlights
- Clown yellow bottles
- Plague never cleansing against her.
- Nemesis gives speed boost on first hit.
- Soon to be knight.
Disagree with some of these. Using flashlights on Hag traps does not give the Survivors a benefit. If you don't cleanse against Plague, you are permanently exposed. I also don't appreciate being called bad.

I don't know what their deal is with Trapper. Dude is a relic and clearly needs some significant changes.
-
@MisterMister said:
Curious on how you identify a “bully squad” in the lobby? Are you using the Clairvoyance perk?
A few things. High prestige. Multiple flashlights. Certain Survivors especially with certain cosmetics, like neon hair. Most common toxic Survivors in my experience are Nea (a swear most of these Neas are toxic), Feng, Meg, and Steve. Of course it is not an exact science, but pattern recognition shouldn't be ignored.
So if you are in a lobby with high prestige Survivors, 2 Fengs with neon hair, a Nea with neon hair, and a Scoops Ahoy Steve, along with 2 flashlights and 2 toolboxes (likely for sabo). 9.5 out of 10 times, that is a toxic SWF. Doing your Trapper daily will probably not be a good time and it would be nice to switch to a stronger Killer.

As an unofficial rule, I don't blame people who DC after the first Survivor suicides or DC's.
It would be nice to receive some official compensation
I agree. Unfortunately they get a DC penalty anyway. Perhaps the original DCer should get the DC penalty of the remaining Survivors.
-
Not your fault they grouped up. I'm going to assume they were body blocking etc to stop you from hooking, so you just left them on the ground. Perfect response. They wanted you to let their buddies wiggle free and you didn't give it to them. I wouldn't feel remotely bad about it.
-
@Krazzik said:
I mean even if you knew they were a SWF they'd still have left you on the hook. I don't know what the point of adding this feature is.
Could have left the lobby. 3 man SWFs are notoriously apathetic to the one SoloQ player.

If I have a killer roll up on me in 30-40 seconds or less, before I've had a chance to do much of anything meaningful that would make staying in the trial worthwhile, I'm definitely out.
But the OP presents an interesting idea. Adding lobby/in-game icons (or even selectable matchmaking options) that would help notify other survivors of your strengths and weaknesses right away, so others know if they can support the needed roll for the group (or the game can match solos up better).
For example, I suck at looping on survivor. Easily half of the time or more a pallet won't fire for me no matter what I do. However, I can stealth around and ninja both gens and people off of hooks really well, have no difficulty locating/taking out totems, and am down to heal someone anytime. If I can be matched up with someone who's strengths are looping and getting/keeping a killer's attention, it's perfect and I'll stick it out the full trial even if it goes bad in the end.
Coding in player-selectable icons shouldn't be very difficult at all. Taking it a step further and using these selections to code in secondary matchmaking criteria I wouldn't see as being all that more difficult since they have the base structure for it already with MMR. Player type (Survivor/Killer) > MMR > strengths/weaknesses selections.
They could set it up the same as MMR to a limited spectrum, so if there's not an exact match it can grab the nearest one. Many online multiplayer games have done this since the inception of online gaming, and it's standard issue for MMO matchmaking.
I know you are just using it as an example. But here is some honest advice. Windows of Opportunity helped me massively with taking the Killer on a chase, recommended it to a friend who had similar results. Eventually you will learn where the pallets and windows are and can drop it (or keep it).
-
Not just you. Midwich hook spawns are awful. Here is a recent video from Otz where he loses a kill due to bad hook spawns.

Meg Thomas: In Locker

Not shaming, these folks would get to choose.
Maintaining an online friend group sounds exhausting. How about we just agree stop DCing or dying on hook if you are the first one downed and we will call it a day.

Better proposition:
THEY SHOULD PLAY OTHER GAMES AND LEAVE US OTHERS THAT WANT TO SEE A TRIAL THROUGH ALONE.
Independent of the game just as a general rule of thumb.
I am partial to the idea that they get teamed up together. I am sure these true scholars understand if another survivor leaves the game prematurely.
-
Nurse is OP but I certainly don't mind seeing a likely toxic squad get the business.

@Hex_Llama said:
I think too many people would just farm the bots instead of playing regular matches -- but it also says something bad about the community if the idea of playing against bots is more appealing than playing with other people.
This is the main issue here. Unless you are a pretty good Killer going against the toxic SWF you often get put against is pretty miserable. If playing bots got you shards, people would just do that.

I guess the character Ive always stuck with is Meg
ever since Ive started playing in 2017, she was my 3rd Survivor I ever played (First being Bill because BT was nuts back then, and Claud for Self Care) and when all my progress got reset I just stuck with Meg since I got compensated a good chunk of BP and just got a bunch of Survivors teachables because of it
She was the first character I ever got to P3 and first character I ever got all perks on, many memorable moments when playing Survivor has also been while playing her
if my opinions and posts have had a funny smell, its because Ive been a meghead from the very start
Do you still run up to a gen being worked on by another Survivor, immediately blow it, and run away?
-
I get Bubba a fair amount and I can't remember the last time I face camped by them. They tend to be one of the coolest Killers in regards to letting you escape.
-
Think the game is too new and not popular enough (though that may be changing) for them to do a chapter. From a game and horror perspective it could be pretty interesting.

Prestige is a clue of hours played, and hours played is a clue of skill. They are not equal, but they are a rough indicator. Outliers existing doesn't disprove the trend.
Felt like I am the only one. It's baffling that others don't recognize that time spent playing is best individual metric for skill.

Prestige does not mean anything, especially for survivors.
How does an indicator of experience in the game mean nothing?
-
@Seraphor said:

Rank is not tied to MMR. So bronze 3 means nothing.
Prestige is not tied to MMR. So the survivors levels mean nothing.
Killer MMR is partially shared, so you have high MMR on other killers, then your Artist MMR is also going to start off relatively high. If you know how to play with one killer, you have a decent shot at playing with most other killers. You can always just resort to M1ing, that's how I get through all Trickster games without throwing a single knife.
Here you are defending a system when you aren't even sure how it works. If the mysterious MMR system is putting these matches together, it is failing miserably. Each of these Survivors has to have more than 1000 hours playing Survivor. I doubt OP has even close to that playing all Killers. Experienced players will trounce relatively inexperienced players the overwhelming majority of the time.

You win some, you lose some. If every match you play is a win, is the game really balanced?
Matchmaking should allow a reasonable chance to win. If you don't see the incredible discrepancy between the Killer and Survivors (who are all over Prestige 15), I don't know what to say.
-
@Bot_Salvo88 said:
Your rank (bronze 3) doesn't mean anything since it's not used for matchmaking. For matchmaking the game uses MMR (a hidden number). You probably won a few games before (even with other killers or with Artist herself) and now you have to lose this one.
That's rich you make it sound like this is in any way justified.

Remarkable how you treat this as justification.

Baby/Stock Claudettes and Dwights are the ones to avoid in my experience. Claudette will spend the entire match Self-Caring and Dwight will spend the entire match in a locker.
-
Nurses are usually either comical (baby Nurse) or terrifying (vet Nurse). That said I am seeing the rise of the "okay" Nurse, which is actually fun to play against.
