What do you mean with that? How should my new friend get better if he gets straight up killed agian after unhook? We even bodyblocked but the Killer just ignored us most of the time because he knew he would never catch the others.
Think that of a new player who has no skills and wants to learn, he cant learn if he dies in the first 3min.
Honestly, go into KYF and practice chases with your friend. It's much faster than learning in pvp and way less frustrating in the long run. Best time investment your friend can make if they want to enjoy this game. Even just 1 hour like that is probably equivalent to 10-ish hours in a public matches, even a lot more when accounting for queues and the fact that you're focusing solely on looping and not gens, altruism, etc.
New survivors have a steep learning curve exactly because, as you put it, they get into a match and they either hold m1, or get absolutely stomped having no idea how to loop. It's very hard to accumulate quality chase practice as a beginner survivor, unless you log into a custom game.
For killers, that wall is hit more towards the intermediate stage when they start facing more competent survivors. Just a quick note in case you want to teach killer to your friend.

Or just repeat the event, so people can actually earn them. Oh, wait... winter solstice 2019 something something....
-
I think adding a totem counter would be sufficient. SWF don't need it anyway, so it would affect only solos.

I always thought it was used for double engravings with crazy curves. It's one of the highest skill-cap things in the game, imo. Probably one of the few builds where the skill-cap is higher than add-on-less, if we exclude the gimmick add-ons that every killer gets.
-
I got reset two colors from red to green (because pretty good job so far) and honestly camping and tunneling is the same at all ranks aka rampant.
-
He got almost no value from surge because he kept slugging and the perk was on constant cooldown and chases were mostly in the same corner of the map, where generators were likely already regressing. The first attempt to the 4-man slug and the two chases with the Claudette near the middle of the video were very questionable decisions. One person slugged is more than enough in most cases. You overdo it and you're essentially gifting free chances to come back. The fastest way to kill is by hooking, not by giving 4 minutes on the ground plus 2 on the hook.
Also, with the stacked blink recharge add-ons he's using, he's essentially playing old basekit Nurse. So, this is really a case of bad decision-making. I'd also change shadowborn for something useful.

Thanks for this. You're an absolute unit.

That's not true. Of course the streamers and youtubers look good because they use good kits. But for the rest of us we cannot always use that good stuff.
Fungoose 4ks 39 out of 40 games without add-ons in the red ranks (games on stream). He plays every killer. He has a 116 games streak with the Plague without Ruin. He agrees that the game is survivor-sided.
-
So, are you telling me the DC penalties are going to be a fiasco? Color me shocked.
P.S. to all the survivors out there, please don't DC on me. I will hook you immediately so you can suicide. I need my bbq stack.
-
It's a casual game, that's why DC penalties won't work. The community asked for it without any thought and bhvr eventually gave in. Watch the suicides on hook and the number of players leaving the game altogether. It's gonna be a mess and a total failure. I mostly play killer nowadays, so at least I'll get my bbq stacks. That's an upside, ngl.
-
My killer would win easy like a walk in the park, because I play solo and I'd be getting 3 potato teammates.
-
You should kick safe pallets and mind game unsafe pallets. AMN is such a meme perk that it presents no threat at all.

I'm not a Huntress main and perhaps someday people will realize I'm not complaining for myself I'm complaining for the 99% of other people who don't have the luxury of playing this game for a living.
With all due respect, your position is inconsistent. Those 99% of people you talk about want the game balanced around the top players, that's the whole inflamed debate that originated from the ruin nerf. You're a top player. You absolutely demolish 90-ish+ % of the teams you verse and so do the other top killers, without Ruin or any of the changes you're suggesting.
You could talk to that 99% you want to give a voice to and explain them that maybe they aren't as good killers as they think they are.

PS. I can bet everyone who vote thought different :P
It means literally love/hate playing against Oni. The question is literally about both, not either/or.

What does it matter? There are plenty if instances when people can’t reveal him from across a pallet 2m in front of him.
His power is BS. He’s basically prayer beads in killer form. Never seen a single one that won’t camp or tunnel or doesn’t run that stupid sloppy/nurses build.
His reveal mechanic is definitely broken. I don't care about the whole stuff about the 26% of your screen in the center and all that. It's sufficient to go in KYF and test it to see it's inconsistent.
I wouldn't say they all camp, but I'd also lie if I said that the vast majority of GFs I ran into weren't campy boys. That's just because it pays off in general against solos, who are the vast majority (iT's lEgIt sTraTegY). I think BHVR should have never removed the ability of Kindred to trump stealth abilities. Thankfully, I've done the archives and I'm back to grinding bp playing killer.
The game below, the killer literally did nothing but immediately stealth camping (why would he run sloppy/tana/nurse's to do that, it makes no sense to me). First hook camped, rescuer gets marked and slugged. Both camped. At that point you have to go for yolo rescues to even have a chance and the snowball is guaranteed. You can imagine the rest. Yes, it was a rank 1.
P.S. for those who want to question my build, I run all sorts of perks for fun. Here I had the 2 protection hit challenge, which I didn't even attempt.

Can anyone explain me how exactly I should do this quest?
Equip a map, press m2 briefly to use the map. This will momentarily highlight the aura of objects within the map range (default is 8m) that can be tracked. Go around and repeat the process until you have highlighted a total of 5 objects at least.
A rainbow map can track everything, so it makes it very easy and doesn't need anything else.
A green map can track generators by default. Use the map every time you run near a generator for 5 generators. Or, you could use a red twine to track the killer belongings, which will make you able to reveal hooks, thus completing the challenge very fast.
You can also use stamps to increase the range, but it's almost overkill, imho.
Source: I completed the challenge.
-
So, you crushed them. Is that what you're complaining about, or are you just baiting?
-
No, it's not marking with the glass bead. The correct wording would have been 'track 5 objects'. You just need to use the map (mouse right click) on trackable objects within the map range (default is 8m). If you use a rainbow map with a stamp, it becomes trivial.
Source: I got the challenge done.

You're not acknowledging that BT isn't run by all survivors and certain killers make that perk null. Your post also doesn't address the situation in which the post I was referring toward. If a survivor saves the hooked player without BT in play, and goes down directly after the unhook. The killer then can freely tunnel the hooked survivor off the hook, smack them down, hook the savior, and it would dismiss the DS. That's why the idea that hooking another player should take out DS doesn't work during game play. Saying, "They should have been doing gens anyway!" doesn't address the situation.
This is correct. Adding a "DS deactivates when someone else is hooked" condition without any other stipulation would simply reward camping and tunneling, effectively making the perk useless. I see that suggestion being parroted around a lot in this forum while failing to address this critical point.
-
The video in that thread is incomplete. So, I refrain from judgement. Anything that is anti-tunneling endgame is very powerful, but that's because tunneling itself becomes more powerful endgame. Of course, the two effects will go hand in hand.
-
Why didn't you post the footage of what happened before that point? That would have given a better idea of the situation, especially regarding the Steve and Kate.
Meg's DS worked exactly as intended, as much as it sucks from the killer perspective. That DS is very powerful in the endgame is not news. That's because tunneling itself becomes very powerful in the endgame, considering there are no other objectives and it allows to secure a kill. It goes by reason then, that anything that works against tunneling (DS/BT) increases in power as well in endgame, obviously, while being weaker earlier in the trial.
-
It's between Oni and Demo. They roflstomp all the other killers Hulk-smash style.

So because I still got the 4K or made 1 or 2 mistakes made my point invalid?
It just makes your point inconsistent. Early game is when a killer has the least amount of pressure. You made several (not one or two) mistakes and still managed to get a 4k. What transpires is that instead of getting a 4k with X gens left, you wanted a 4k with 5 gens left.
As an addendum, don't fall for the trap many players in this forum are victim of. EIther as a survivor or killer, chances are it's not the game's fault when you do bad, but simply that you're overestimating your abilities.
-
Too many variables to define a one-size-fits-all gen time figure.
For solo q, in red ranks, against good killers, gen times are fine and the survivors often still take the bad part of the bargain.
For solo q beginners, gens are even too slow.
For 4-man SWF, if they go full sweaty, gens will fly. They can still get be obliterated against high-tier killer.
Increasing gen time in a vacuum is very dangerous without taking a look at camping/proxy/tunneling, because it's sufficient to force a hook stage or death and it would be 3v1 with slow gens remaining, with any slowdown and regression perks/addons on top of that.
That's why I'm against any increase in gen time without an overall rework of the (un)balance of the game. The issue about DbD right now is that it's very snowball-based. This is why genrushing is THE strategy for survivors, because if those gens don't go fast in the beginning, they won't go at all later on when the killer gains momentum.
One example is a game in the red ranks for the archives. The Killer (GF) just stealthed by the hooked survivor. One on hook and one slugged, both camped. You can imagine the rest. There's little solo q can do against this. Very easy strategy that can be implemented with adjustments with killers that aren't even stealthy.
P.S. I played a lot of survivor for the archives lately and I'm honestly done for more than the one daily for the extra XP. I'm be back to Killer for the bp. Playing solo is not worth the hassle 4 out of 5 games.
-
I appreciate what he's trying to suggest, but if this was to implemented, se might as well make solo survivors start the trial already on hook.
-
The question is what I'd put in the last slot. Dance isn't that useful by itself and in a standard build I wouldn't sacrifice other slots to make it work.
Boil Over is useless, except in sabo builds and even then it's marginal and more for the memes.
WoO is actually underrated, not meta by any stretch, but better than the elitists make it out to be. Aside from its obvious usefullness for beginners and to get your bearings on new maps, it works very well in solo. You will know immediately if a pallet is up, down, or destroyed, without having to scout around to see what your teammates have used.
-
Snares are 10 times better while being equally as boring. You might as well with the still-boring-but-effective option.
-
He doesn't need a nerf, he needs a rework. Currently, unless you run nemesis+pwyf, his power is good only for facecamping. Giving him something that is actually good in a chase instead would be in the best interest of the players' base.
-
Are you asking for a friend?
-
You can't be 'proven wrong' or right about something, unless you define that something first. What is your definition of survivor-sided? Is it based on the best players? On all the player-base? Take it from there, next time.
-
If you play solo survivor, then it's both. That's why I'm playing more killer than 50/50, as I used to (that and I'm bp thirsty).

I wonder why the Devs added it in the first place, there must be a reason. Maybe so hillbilly doesn't abuse it, like going from side to side sniping people and automatically "kicking" gens.
It would make a strong killer even stronger.
The cooldown+range+basic-attack condition were probably meant to avoid 3-gen stalemates, which could get nasty especially with one-hit-down killers.
I think having all three is overkill, though.
-
Clickbait thread title and shameless plug.
-
Killer is ezpz lemon squeezy at yellow and brown ranks even after Ruin. If you rank up and the competition is too fierce, you'll just be knocked down a notch. Just don't be upset if you lose a couple of games here and there until you get deranked, or if matchmaking pulls the occasional fast one. Just take it as a test and a change of pace. You'll be back in shallower waters very fast.
On the other hand, if you wanna be a rank 1 killer, then you have to accept that things aren't going to be as casual. It's the way it is.
The talking about the big streamers is all connected to the Ruin nerf and it hasn't much to do with what seems to bother you. When they nerfed Ruin, the outcry was that the devs were balancing the game around the bad players instead of the best ones. It's an argument that kinda backfires, and that's why you see the comments about the big streamers as a counterexample, because they are in the pool of the best players and they consistently smash as killers even without ruin.
-
There's not a single best build. Survivors don't have that many perks that stand out, that's why you tend to see always the usual suspects (aka meta; they are that for a reason) in builds.
SB, DH, DS, UnbreakaBill, AdrenaWin, Iron Will. Bring a medkit.
I don't think BT is actually meta in solo (see below).
For solo specifically, you can also add Kindred, Bond and Inner Strength to the mix. If you use one those three, you can sub a toolbox for the medkit.
Any combination of the above will serve you well.
BONUS (situational): if you bring a key, you can use Left Behind.
@Ghoste said:
Call me selfish, but I don't run Borrowed very often as Solo because my teammates are usually rushing the hook saves before I can even get there. That goes for all perks that rely on an unhook.
It's not selfish. It's realistic. BT is very good, but more so in sfw and in endgame situations. Randoms hook dive like crazy and many killers just play around BT with stealth or mobility and make a living out of proxying. If there's a camp, even IF you make it there before someone else AND even if you proc BT, 4 times out of 5 the rescued person won't bother trying to take the hit.
-
I love it... when I play killer.
-
Rank 9-10s aren't really that great. Very rarely you see one that's smurfing and could pull their own weight. Otherwise, there's not really that much of a leap from rank 20 survivors to 10, except they may start to understand they need to save before second stage and that they have to hold m1 on those things with pistons scattered around the map.
Like every game, there's a learning curve to go through. It sounds like your friend is giving up way to early just because they didn't get bot survivors anymore and started losing every now and then. My advice is to toughen up.

I don't recognize any of the gripes certain players come here to cry about.
I completely understand that most people are sheep and need to be told what to think by other people, so it's no surprise when content streamers constantly ######### about one side of the game, their followers then do too. These same content streamers, then play both sides, showing how most of the games, end in their favour, no matter which side they play. Be it a player looping some dumb ass killer for a few gens or getting 4k with any killer running what seems like almost any 4 sets of perks.
The killers that complain about the smallest inconvenience, have you ever adept your killers? Where you need to use only that killers 3 perks and get yourself a brutal killer rating, because it seems from your constant crying, that this would be impossible.
The survivors that complain about killers, have you adept your survivors? Ok, it's definitely easier to adept as survivor since you don't need to escape to double pip, but you still need to play with only 3 perks. And if you adept David King, you gotta do it broken too.
It comes down to this really, the players coming here complaining are just bad players. Maybe you guys are just sheep bleating that same entitled nonesense your favourite streamer constantly spouts (while they then get 4ks using no perks or loop a killer for days)
You're not supposed to win every game.
You being unhooked doesn't grant you a fairness token where the killer can't down you.
You watching 2 gens pop quickly, doesn't mean it's game over. Imagine all the competent trappers/hags that lay all their traps before hunting, we are used to seeing 2-3 gens go before we start chasing, it's no problem.
The only positive here, is that killer mains are taking a break to have their ego smashed as survivors, when they actually experience how most games go. It's why players that play both sides at a decent level, don't come here crying, every day.
The state of the game is better than it was. Infinites, insta heals, DS, BT, BL all nurfed, exhaustion effects not rebuilding while running, were all things that needed to be fixed, plus a whole bunch of other survivor nurfs.
Killing is so easy now, I don't even know what nerfs have been made to killers (I don't mean individual tweaks, I mean as whole), as it's not changed my ability to slaughter survivors.
Hopefully, when the matchmaking system is up and running, and we start playing with/against players of our skill level, the game will become more "fun" for you. Because it's pointless putting some half baked killer against strong 4 man SWF and putting the world worst survivor against sweaty mckilly killuall.
Well thought-out post. I wholeheartedly agree.

Your overgeneralization doesn't make you appear more mature than the people in those screenshots.
-
Easily abusable. If you camp to death, you can effectively stall all gens. Then whoever picks up the tool has to go through 5 gens. If you catch them, or alternatively catch anyone else while having at least 3 gens with some regression, you can camp and stall again.
To be feasible the tool must be respawned immediately upon hooking and the killer should not be able to see it, or it could just be camped.
Or, you would have to make it such that any 3 tools would have to be able to get a gen to 95-ish%. However, it would still encourage camping to get a lot of cheap 2ks which could be turned into 3-4k.
-
This already exists, it's called an ebony mori and it's (intentionally) OP, unless the killer is a total potato.

You don't actually have to even swing. Just follow where I'm running and you can walk over there and catch the survivor off guard or trying to medium vault. That tractor is only as strong when the killer has no idea how to do it which is funny most of the time.
Fun fact, you have to swing if you're a Nurse with default speed (you may have to if your blinks are on cooldown).
-
With time you'll learn survivor spawns. It's incorrect to assume that they always spawn on the opposite side of the map as you. More often than not, there will be someone on the far gen directly on your right or your left, or on the outskirsts going toward the middle.
In those rare instances when they all spawn on the farthest gen, if it's a big map, you're probably going to lose it by the time you make it there. However, that's inefficent for survivors, because they won't split gen pressure. If you can get the down and hook in that area, you will force a poor rotation for the rescue while you go back to pressure the other gens.
-
If this was one of the "worst experience in your life", I can only say that either I envy you, or you're being a tad bit overly dramatic.
Squads of that kind are exceedingly rare even among tryhards. If that bothers you that much, I suggest you dodge lobbies with 2+ toolboxes until those get nerfed, which is something the devs said are going to look into next. Using the Spirit, you should be able to deal with all other situations.
@Steve0333 said:
If devs increased gen time then they would also have to increase the time it takes a survivor to die on the hook as well since fast gen times is the only thing that makes camping and tunneling not a viable option against higher ranks.
Correct. It's already an issue when forever builds are employed and considering all the ways that exist to work around BT.
They wouldn't as in they wouldn't be forced to, but it would be very unwise to overlook the issue.

How often do you face Moris, Iridescent Head Huntress, Pinky finger Clown? I assume not that much but still think it should be addressed. Some of the excuses for not nerfing prayer beads was that it's a very rare add-on so it wasn't that common.
It should be addressed and the toolbox rework will hopefully be a step in the right direction. Fingers crossed. However, let me point out that, with the exception of Pinky Finger, all of the situations you mentioned are fairly common. Alongside instasaw Billy, infinite tier 3 Myers and black incense Plague. The better the rank, the better the builds you will run into on average.
