It's just an unfortunate situation. If you don't camp in that instance, then you're essentially throwing the game. I've done the same in the same spot. I was Wraith on Coldwind Farm and, while chasing the key holder, we ran into the hatch.
Whenever I bring a key, which is basically only for tome challenges, I accept the fact that I'm putting a target on my back, because it's an item that skews the balance of the game. It's obvious that I can entice an 'unbalanced' reaction in return. I guess Quentin didn't get the memo.
-
I did when I had 50 hours in the game. I ain't got that much better in the meantime.
-
It smells kinda like a bait thread, but I'll take the bait just for the memes.
--------------------------------
Meg is an idiot, apparently.
Hint: spot Meg.
Meg is ez... after getting tunneled for 4 gens and a half and facecamped to death with noed, while still making more points than the killer.
Irony 101: you guys must chill because it's just a game.... while I facecamp to death this Claudette because I think she's toxic. Then proceed to do the same to this Jane who did absolutely nothing wrong. But I'm totally chill, I don't take videogames personally.
-
Tinkerer isn't that good, even on a high mobility powerhouse like Billy.
Discordance, Pop, BBQ, Bamboozle.
A wrecking machine.
-
Ghostface because his reveal mechanic is just all over the place and just doesn't work as intended. I also tend to run into the same GFs red ranks and they always stealth camp the hook hard. They make Bubba look like an amateur (don't start with the all camping doesn't work yadda yadda yadda, because it does. Try it).
There are other killers that aren't particularly interactive, but it's whatever.
-
Killer: discordance, pgtw, bbq, bamboozle (on Billy).
Survivor: DS, Resilience, DH, Iron Will.

Legit OP account, legit first post. 10/10 & 100% would read again.

To anyone that says “to her you were probably there” that’s absolutely false. Not saying it doesn’t happen, but if anyone has played huntress... even on your screen it won’t show the hatchet connect unless you hit the survivor running in a straight line. On my screen... I’ve hit survivors even though they “dodged” the hatchet, the hatchet will explode and show blood even though it didn’t connect. The whole “latency” as an answer to most things, if not everything, is just a weak and lazy counter argument.
I have 30-35 ping and I can confirm this. I think that issue is a mix of the facts that the engine was not made for ranged attacks (same as it wasn't made for leaning, see ghostface), the hitbox of the hatchets is actually a big sphere for survivor collision (but iirc, collision with environment is detected via a smaller hitbox. Don't quote me on that though).
-
Cool story, bro. Here, take a cookie.
-
I play all killers, but some very rarely, either because they're are dumb easy or really cheap. Keep in mind that I generally play without add-ons, except when I'm about to prestige.
-
They should just make it so you can equip whatever tier of a perk you possess as long as that tier is unlocked. That would solve the issue, because some of those times are a matter of preference. Click on the perk and a dropdown menu allows you to select the tier.

Nothing wrong, you didn't unhook safely. That will penalize your altruism.
There's actually something wrong, which is the emblem system itself. The survivors have to save, or that hurts their benevolent emblem. In the described situaton, it's basically a catch 22. You're doomed if you do and if you don't.

The camping penalty is a joke, which is why camping is so effective and common. Best counter is do gens and hope the camped Survivor has Camaraderie lol I'll never forget The Cannibal that face camped me in the Basement and upstairs was a Generator that someone worked on while my timer was paused. Everyone escaped, I was glad to struggle until the last drop.
The penalty is indeed a joke, because even assuming that everybody plays super optimally without even wasting a second to get to the hooked survivor, which is unrealistic for solos, then it's very easy for the killer to get at the very least another kill. Even more if someone leaves gens and/or if there's noed.
Camping does work, no ifs or buts. Penalties do nothing. There's a reason why the survivor meta is BT/DS.

Michael tunneled Laurie the whole damn movie.
Mikey is the OG tunneler. Change my mind.

Soft offense, impolite behavior. We're splitting hairs, basically. Saying that someone is easy to play against is in bad taste. Especially when coupled with gg, which implies that the good games are easy games. So, it doubly reflects badly on the person who types that, because they like to win easily. In the end, it's an online casual game, so don't expect people to act maturely.
I mean, just look at this forum to get an idea of that.
-
It depends on platform, region and time of the day. I never have issues with survivor queues, rank 3 currently.

Isn't it Shelter Woods?

Kate has windows of opportunity which AT LEAST has the value of being helpful for new players
WoO is a perk that I really came to like lately and I feel it should get a little bit more credit. It gives me so much information late game, if I didn't have an opportunity to get chased, and I can run to tiles were I know there are still resources. Of course, it's not meta by any means, but it's a fun perk and still viable post-beginner stage. I'll probably take it out once I decide the next build I want to run.

Grim Pantry also has no few spawns with no pallet loops in the center of the map.
And even those variations where pallets spawn there still are no defensible tiles in the center; just bloodlustable low wall loops. Besides the god window that map has almost nothing.
There's also multiple variations where 2 gens spawn on the pier and another one within eyesight of it.
It also has like 8 or 9 lockers total; all of which are by the edges of the map.
There's also only one hook that is reachable from the center of the map. If PTB Sabo stays that map will be ungodly.
That map still sucks for everyone, but overall it sucks more for Survivor since the devs made it a bit smaller.
If you play anyone besides Huntress you should do well as long as you just give up chase on any competent Survivor that reaches the window.
This is my experience as well. The main building is mostly problematic when the god window spawns, or when the basement is there and the hooks outside spawn to far away.

Tbh I think since the doctor buff, he's the most unbalanced and op. He can literally shock you are you're attempting to vault something and stop you from doing so.
He could do it pre-rework as well. It was just that it required such perfect timing, that the skill cap was insane. I used to watch a streamer who's a doctor main and he could pull insane shock/hit combos on almost every tile, including with shack pallet down. I like the new static blast change, but I feel for the rest the overall skill requirement to play as him has been dumbed down a lot. Old doctor was a very misunderstood character gameplaywise, but it was my first main when I was racking up bp and I kinda miss some of his old mechanics.

I'm not sure what this is video is meant to prove or disprove.
The survivors were bad, but they didn't come back solely because of meta perks. They came back because meta perks, because he was literally running the antimeta^3 and he made one MAJOR, almost rookie, mistake. Does it even come as a surprise that they managed to reset when he literally stacked the deck against himself and in their favor?
Now, imagine if he was running anything meta instead. This game would have lasted 3 minutes, even if he made the same errors.
That greed for the slug is always a huge gamble, especially if you can't instadown. Slugging is good for pressure. Overslugging is good to give a chance to come back. It reminds me of that Nurse video by Ardetha that was posted here recently. Same issue, both killers were too thirsty for the slug. The faster way to kill survivors is by hooking. Giving 4 minutes on the ground plus 2 on hook is the slower method.
One-hooking comes at your own risk. If you have thousands of hours in the game, you should know that very well.

I think their "Kill Rate" had included DCs. There were so many DCs before penalty, and killer could get 4k very easily in that case.
The expressly stated that game with DCs were excluded.
-
It's not bannable. It's simply a stupid thing that is in the game because of the laziness of the Devs. They patched hook blocking. This is an analogous situation, they simply won't do anything about it because they would have to rework Bubba's power. Too busy rehashing cheesy cosmetics instead.
Reporting or creating threads will only get you generic inane replies from the community and the devs. If these things upset you, then the best way to voice your disappointment is by not buying additional content for the game. If you want to leave a game review, that's on you.
Back on the topic, if you're on the hook, hold on if your teammates are doing gens, so you give them a chance and just move on to the next game. If the other survivors come for you even if the camp is obvious, then you can honestly just suicide on hook.
If you're not the person hooked, if it's a Bubba or a Cheapface, assume they're camping until proven otherwise. Just pump gens in this situation.
-
Do you think potato survivors spend their time in the forum and reading resources, or they just play the game?
-
Moris shouldn't be encouraged.
-
That's the point. She stops loops with her power. Go against a good huntress and you'll know what I mean.

Run Spine Chill ffs.
It is the biggest give away as to whether or not she is phasing, since when she is phasing, she will still activate spine chill, while her husk doesn't. Spine chill is a good perk in general, but imo is a better to counter to Spirit than Iron Will.
Experienced Spirit players will counter it fairly easily. If the survivor is not leaving the loop, then just phase while looking at their last position. Spine Chill will stay lit.
-
Solo Q and the non-meta killers, possibly without buffing SWF and the meta killers.
-
iirc it's a bug. The killer dc's and the game registers as you dc'd as well. It happened to me here and then. Did you get a dc penalty by any chance?
-
Noed is actually very good when combined with camping the first hook. You can get a kill early game and easily 1/2 additional kills in the endgame. Realistically, if you stealth camp, you will buy yourself even more time because they'll attempt the save and it results in a 3/4k most often than not. Most Cheapfaces at red ranks/rank 5 play like that. Works flawlessly.
I'm not arguing that is not a legit strategy. It does however reward "bad" playing and the killer will even make decent bp for it. I've seen it first hand.
-
I've always found the Hitboxtress very dull to play as. She's a fan favorite, so I guess it's just different flavors for different people. Personally, it's just very unsatisfying for me when I get hits just because I realized how hitboxes can be abused. The concept of the killer is good, but the implementation falls short and they were never able to fix it.
I might pick the Deathslinger over her simply because he looks like an improvement so far on that front, plus I'm originally an fps player.
-
He can.
SOURCE: I did it in the face of a Meg who camping the hatch tbagging.
-
I suggest learning to manipulate the red stain, which is a core skill for a killer, instead of advocating removing a fundamental game mechanic.
-
Pretty good job so far is what happened.
-
Finally, I've finished the tome level again and I'm very happy I won't have to touch survivor more than once a day until level 4.
All games were NOED and campers. Red rank Cheapfaces who hardcore camped in stealth and never did anything else. Potato teammates who couldn't last a loop, or repair half a gen.
Back to Billy and potatoing at Nurse for me. This game is a mess, honestly.
-
I doubt it's bannable, but for example mori spamming is, so you never know. Your only option is to record the game and report in game, then send a ticket with proof. Then bhvr will make the call.
-
I am doing the tome challenges and I have hardly encountered a Billy. It's mostly CheapFace, Freddy, Spirit, then the odd-one-outs.

I've been running Plunderer's (I don't want to bait out the Franklin) and in my last game, lol, I got a yellow flashlight and a brown toolbox. I swear that perk is either too much good stuff you cant even use it or all garbage. But yeah it looks like if I want to keep trying for this challenge, it's just going to be dumb luck and a lot of time.
If you have Steve, you can play him to minimize instances of Franklin's. It's very hard to see in the lobby that he holds a key, except for the brief moment he raises his arm. You can always equip it at the last second. GL.

My issue is the 'hidden' mechanic. Why does it need to be hidden, other than the fact that if something goes wrong, we can't prove it. Like the current rank system.
It's hidden because it probably doesn't even exist 🤣

I hate mains.

SWF is your best bet, especially if you don't want to burn a lot of keys due to potato teammmates.

Then what's the point of dedicated servers? isn't dedicated servers supossed to be the one that register hits? cause if killer is still the one that has the hit detection than any laggy af killer will still hit you only because that killer is laggy EVEN THO you have a better connection than him?
Awesome BHVR.
Dedicated servers are simply a sugar-coated pill made by bhvr to quieten the community that had been moaning about p2p, acting as if servers would dbd's savior. The current implementation is obviously as a server relay on a still-p2p model. The only effect is that killer's and survivors' real pings are now hidden to each others in the lobby, decreasing dodging.
-
This and the EGC sacrifice challenges are the worst. They both should go.
Today, I was doing my daily and after I died, I went into spectator mode watching this Kate hopping in and out of a locker pausing briefly to gesture, while the other remaining survivor was being chased. She had a key, left behind, sole survivor (which I think is currently bugged, btw), urban and q&q. She got the hatch after it was closed and escaped with about 9k points, which tells me she essentially did nothing all trial, but wait for the others to die.
Btw, since we're here, quick tip to minimize franklin's and tunneling risks. If you have Steve, use him for this challenge. Due to the nature of his animation in the lobby, it's extremely difficult to notice that he's holding a key in his hand.
-
A well thought-out post. I second the OP's sentiments about this change. Pair that with the fact that survivors make fare fewer bloodpoints per match on average than killer and I don't think this was really a necessary change, unless they do something else to balance out the bloodwebs.

I'm trapper The gate is opened the basement is next to the gate I've downed all survivors they're downed in an area between the gate and killer shack but I can't guarantee my hooks because most crawl away through the gate especially if they have a crawl perk, and now I'm penalized and my effort is all gone idk if that's fair or not but come on downing all four with perfection and that's your pay off
The gate is open, all survivors are alive and you managed to down them only next to an open gate. I'd hardly call that 'perfection'.

@ZoneDymo said:
A friend also mentioned this, the bloodweb would have to be adjusted to where you get more add ons for items (considering they are always used up no matter that) and less actual items.
They should also increment bp earnings for survivors. I understand making the add-ons consumable to be in line with killer mechanics, but then bp should me increased accordingly.
