I play both sides (killer more often) camping requires no strategy or skill. Maybe I just prefer to “earn” my kills.

No one cares how you play. Maybe you just lie, for all we know.

Facecamping and tunneling are “legit” strategies at 5 gens? Weird all that does is lose the game for killer. It’s almost as if the best strategy as killer is to force pressure on gens and not spend the entire game pressuring 1/4 of the team. Also I play both sides, I actually prefer killer, and even if I’m having a rough game I don’t resort to tunnel/camp strategies because I played poorly and/or the survivors played extremely well and the game should play out as such.

    I said 'legitimate' not 'good'.

Also; no one cares if you don't camp or tunnel, or if you pat Survivors on the heads and give them lollipops. How you play is not how everyone has to play. Fregging sick of seeing people go 'I'm a Killer and I don't camp!' as if that means every Killer player in the world should do what they do just reeks of massive ego.

You don't camp or tunnel; good for you. They are still tools in a Killer's belt that he can use to get kills. How you play is not how everyone plays, and also should not be forced on everyone else.

  • @unclefood87 said:

People who consistently tunnel and face camp should be banned from the game.

Oh yes, because people should be banned for...using legitimate strats? No, no, that's not 'Survivor main' whiny enough.

Ah! Killers should be banned for making Survivors unhappy! THAT'S what you were going for!

What I described is a general outline, the problems that you mentioned can be fixed with additional hooking mechanics. Right now when you hook a survivor, you reduce his time on the hook by 50%. Hook someone twice or 3 times within a minute and that survivor is gone, which is very frustrating for the survivor.

If you take my proposal and reduce time on hook by 20-25% each time a survivor is hooked, it can be one possible solution. And it will still fix camping. At the same time you can still use camping strategically if you wish. Again, total time a survivor can spend on a hook will have to be tweaked, probably reduced, to make sure that killers won't have to do more work than now. This approach would be a generalization of the current hooking system. Additional hooking mechanics can be added too, if needed.

It will fix not only camping, but tunneling as well, since tunneling will make almost no sense anymore.

Making the Killer hook more is not the solution. He already lacks the time to 12 hook, when Survivors can bang out 3 gens in the first chase.

The problem with these ideas is that Survivors think it's 'unfair' if they get removed before THEY want to be removed. They think there's a flaw in the game where they should have input on how or when they die. It's baffling.

    @unclefood87 said:

Killers that camp aren’t generally skilled enough to get kills in any legitimate fashion.

Ah yes, here we go again; insults to attempt to force change on Killers. Salty Survivor mains don't get to decide what is a 'legitimate' kill or not, sorry. He got the kill? Then it was a legitimate kill. End of story.

  • @Troman said:

Camping is a general problem, it makes games unfun for both sides.

Camping comes from the design of the hooking system: you need to hook a survivor a second time to start the struggle phase and a third time to kill him. Remove the second hook stage and let survivors die on the hook as soon as their time on the hook runs out. Killer can hook a survivor as many times as needed, survivors can be unhooked as many times as needed. The time on the hook before a survivor dies will have to be tweaked.

This will remove camping entirely, but will still allow the killers to camp a survivor when exit gates are open or to secure the last possible kill, which are the only situation when camping can be called a legit strategy.

If I understand it, the meter does not reset when saved? So it slowly ahs less and less, even if the Survivor is unhooked?

This would just encourage fast, unsafe unhooks, where the Survivor is downed, hooked again, saved, downed, hooked again, etc. And now the Killer is barely making any progress towards his goal

  • @Kaitsja said:

Tunneling shows a lack of skill from the killer. It's unnecessary. Of course, most people here mistake not tunneling with being nice.

If the survivors make an unsafe unhook in your face, then by all means punish it. Personally, I like to give survivors a chance to get away from the hook. That's it. After that point, if I stumble across you again, you're getting slugged.

From a personal standpoint, I would much rather be slugged than tunneled out of the game. Tunneling may very well be part of the game, but that doesn't mean people have to be happy about it.

Genrushing shows a lack of skill from Survivors. It's unnecessary.

Tunneling is the same thing as Survivors focusing on nearly-completed gens; it's doing whatever gets the Survivor or Killer closer to their goal (popping gens or killing Survivors, respectively). This BS about 'tunneling/camping/slugging means Killers have no skill' needs to STOP. It's just an attempt at peer pressure to control how Killers play.

On top of that; it's wrong. They all have their places, and tunneling a Survivor is no different than a Survivor going back to the 80% completed gen; it's the smart move to do your objective as quickly as possible. But for some reason, Survivors have got it in their heads that Killers being efficient is somehow bad because 'we get removed from the game! 😱' so they act like Killers should be forced to not kill them until they have had 'enough fun', as if there's a fun quota Killers need to meet before they can do their goal.

I know you said they have their places, so this rant is not directed solely at you, but I did want to respond to the whole 'lack of skill' you said, because that's getting old to see on these forums. It's just people trying to shame their opponent into playing the way they want.

  • I have the Twins, but I have been too scared to even try them. 😂

So the survivor who didn't DC doesn't deserve the chance to get hatch, is what you're saying? The only person who matters is the killer, huh? Just say you want free kills no matter what, it's fine.

If they are an SWF (which they 99% of the time are, if one player will eat a DC penalty & loss of BP to give the other person the hatch); then no, they don't deserve the chance at the hatch, as they are profiting off cheating.

But sure; try to strawman it into being a selfish request instead of a way to punish cheaters.

  • @ImBrakingBike said:

I know this won't change your mind because you said that right at the start but the main issues I see here are these

    1. If a Survivor DCs to make the Hatch appear or open; the Hatch will not appear, or open (if it has already appeared). DCing is not a Kill or an Exit, and thus should not be treated like the Survivor was Killed or Exited the match.

If you are playing solo Q, you have no control over whatever your teammates do. Imagine there are only two people left, and your teammate happens to be a crybaby that gets mad because he got downed by the killer and knows he has no chance to escape. He DCs because he feels he deserved that win more than you, the hatch doesn't spawn so now you get killed because of this random guy. It sucks, and solo Q is already bad enough.

2.If The Survivor or Killer is within <x> meters of the Hatch; it will not appear, or open (if it has already appeared). They will have to move far enough away from the Hatch that they cannot open (or close) it right away.

If the killer is slugging the team, or just the two people left, there is no way you can make it out and back into the zone before the killer does just because of how slow your movement is. This gives a clear advantage to the killer to either move you away from that zone and go back to close it or to just leave you there to die because your only last hope of escaping wouldn't spawn.

The way I see it the main problem behind this "strategy" is the fact that people feel they can DC without consequences. Punishing those who stay until the end instead of those who are breaking the rules can't be the way to balance the game.

My mind can be changed on the IDEAS I presented. :)

What won't be useful is anyone who claims 'DCing for hatch is valid' (which no one has yet). That's all. Any counter-arguments to the ideas as a whole are welcomed, and many people have brought up decent points, including you. :)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/269458/how-to-easily-fix-hatch-camping-dcing-for-hatch

How do you know if a survivor DCs to give someone the hatch vs any other reason they might have DCed?

Honestly I love how triggered every killer is about this. You can't do anything about it. It's an exploit that doesn't have an easy fix. The DC penalty is back, so that should help.

The number of people who might crash near the end of the match is allot smaller than the number who wuss out to give their friend hatch.

Just as the number who crash are allot smaller than those who rage-quit; hence why the DC penalty is palatable even though it catches a PC-snafu now and again.

And I'm not 'triggered', but I am tired of watching people ######### out and exploit a bad mechanic to deny me two kills; the quitter and the hatch-user. It's an easy way to shaft the Killer out of half the match's kills, so it needs to be fixed.

  • Amen! DCers can eat punishments again.

  • Rofl. More Survivor whining about 'Trash Killers' who somehow get magical kills because 'camping', 'tunneling' and 'slugging' somehow auto-kill Survivors and are never Survivor's faults.

It's always the same BS; insults and shaming of Killer tactics in an attempt to force rules down their throats that make them play sub-optimally.

It's always 'bad Killers' and 'scrub tactics' and 'toxic playstyle' in an attempt to shame Killer players into avoiding what Survivors hate. Like 'be happy with the 3K' and 'stop sweating'. But Survivors are allowed to genrush and expect free unhooks and get a 4E all day.

    Hypocrites.

If Survivors can bang out a gen in under 60 seconds with friends; Killers can camp/confirm a kill. If Survivors are stupid enough to walk towards the Killer and expect a free unhook, then they are at fault when they get hit.

The Killer deserves to try winning just as much as the Survivors, so deal with it. You don't get to dictate how the other side plays.

  • Survivors: NoED is toxic! I don't wanna do bones! Slugging is unfun! Devs; change the game to cater to us!

Also Survivors: Clicking, t-bagging, and waiting at the exits are part of the game. Suck it up.

The double-standard for actions is staggering.

Talking about people going after what others say, just for the sake of it, and then you come up with a catchphrase. A walking contradiction, ladies and gentlemen. But, credit where it is due, you actually gave me a very good laugh. Someone stating "git gud", when he's defending NOED... Let's say that it's like a cheater who sets a multiplayer match to give him the win as soon as the round starts, laughable. Ridiculous. Ludicrous.

"They invented" undeserved kills, right. Because getting kills that you didn't manage to get for the whole match, just because you now instadown and move faster than you should, that is definitely deserved. You're funny, dude. Really funny. 😂😂😂 The best joke of the century would not be able to stand up to the things you say. Let's end this here, I'd be talking to bots if this was how I meant to waste my time. See you, "pro".

Did you just equate NoED to cheating? That shows how laughably little you know game balance, buddy.

But you're going to keep stomping around like a child, screaming about how NoED is 'unfair' and 'unfun' because you want to speedrun gens with no punishments for ignoring totems. Just like every entitled Survivor main.

NoED is fine. Survivors need to put on t heir big boy pants and learn to play around Killer perks instead of screeching for everythign they don't like to be nerfed.

It's hilarious to watch a Killer hit the PTB and, within an hour, lazy Survivor mains are screaming for nerfs because demanding changes is easier than learning to play. And they apply this same lazy mentality to Killer perks, too.

Survivor Mains: Why learn to improve when you can call something 'Unfun' and pretend nerfing it is for the health of the game!

NoED is fine. Only Survivors who want to actively ignore totems pretend otherwise. And every point they spew against NoED is garbage they themselves invented to scream about.

'UnEaRnEd KiLlS!' - If the Killer found you and hit you; he earned the kill. No amount of crying changes this fact.

'It ReWaRdS lOsInG!' - If you have not left; you have not won. This is also an immutable fact of the game. Doing 5 gens is not 'basically losing/winning'. There is no 'basically losing/winning'. You either lose, or you win. You die, or you escape. You don't kind escape or kind of die.

So keep screeching those lying points...I mean 'talking points', sorry. I know Survivor mains love to lie and pretend their blather is fact. It won't change the hard fact that NoED is fine, and y'all need to learn to do bones.

Which is dumb because keys with SWF never had add ons unless it’s the milky glass to keep it upon use, or that band in which you keep the key upon death. As Solo Q I run Appraisal and Plunderers. Keys are good for Solo Q because it gives you aura detect, and you can abandon the randoms that would make you lose towards the end. I shouldn’t have to die in the end because my team fumbled. If I find a key and the hatch I’m out.

From a Killer point of view; the Killer should not have to lose out on a kill when the enemy team fumbled.

  • I was playing Hag and was NOT putting my traps near the hook. More out of the way; in choke points leading to the hook. All it took was crouch-walking through chokepoints to avoid them. Did not even have to crouch off the hook. I had 3 people dead, downed the 4th; he DCs the second I hit him. Like, he must have been sitting on his router to do it.

End game chat: 'Campers don't deserve 4Ks'

Then there was the time as Trapper where I hooked a Survivor on Plague's map. Turn around; a Meg is 3 feet behind me like she's waiting in line for a toilet. So I hit and chase her about 40 feet, then turn, because if ONE person is hook camping for the save...And yep! Another Survivor is running towards the hook, so I go back and chase her, only to turn and see the Meg approaching again. So it becomes a back-and-forth until the Meg screws up & I down her. I COULD slug & camp, but I pick her up, walk literally 5 feet, and hear the hook save. I turn around to see them healing under the hook. So I walk back, still Carrying Meg, down the unhooked Survivor (the healthy one ran), and hook the Meg. I can't seem to pick up the downed Survivor (I was unaware of the bug to hide in the Hooked Survivor's hitbox, at the time). So I just chase the other Survivor around a wall near the hook until all 3 suddenly DC.

End Game Chat: I'm a 'noob Killer' 'filthy camper' and 'skill-less slugger'. I responded with 'Why would I leave if you're right there?' and was told I HAVE to leave or I'm a camper. 😂

A time as Huntress: Match starts on the Swamp with the big boat. I yeet 3 hatchets at random before moving, because why not? Miss, Miss, HIT! Person hit DCs 2 seconds later. Waits the entire match for it to complete, then claims he's reporting me because I was 'clearly hacking'. The other Survivors actually stood up for me, since I missed LOADS of normal throws. But the DCer said I only did that to hide my cheating.

Like...Why would I cheat ONCE, at the start of the match, when the throw would 1) Be glaringly obvious and 2) Be easy to dodge, since the hatchets are not hitscan, and then NOT cheat for the rest of the match?

But he was convinced I was cheating, and said he was writing down my steam name to get his friends to report me in every match they find me in. Made me laugh out loud.

The time as Billy, maybe in 2017 or 2018, I zoomied across the map and clobbered someone doing a slow vault, and they DC'd before they hit the ground. (Clearly, they DC'd allot, to have it so ready to do).

End game chat: Billy is OP.

The amount of mental gymnastics people do to blame everyone for mistakes or their own lack of skill should get them a spot in the Olympics. 😂

'And this year we have a new event: The 250 Character 'Blame Your Opponent' Dash! You have 250 characters in which to blame your opponent for you losing! The judges award points for originality!'

We'll see each other when survivors will have boon totems that, as long as they are up, give them Adrenaline for the entire match and two more health states. Saying the kill is deserved because the killer had to chase the survivor, with increased speed to help him do that, and an instadown.... It's like saying you deserve a job because you are able to spell your name. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

And about Coup De Grace, nice try. But it doesn't give you an instadown automatically, it is consumed when you use it AND can still be missed. Sayonara, "Power" guy.

Your ability to invent BS does not make you right.

There's no such thing as an 'undeserved kill'. It's a flat out lie invented by Survivor mains to create a flaw with NoED, because they're too lazy to do bones.

Survivors want to lick gens for 5 minutes and twerk out the exit gates, and NoED prevents this. But NoED is actually pretty balanced, so they invented 'undeserved Kills' and 'basically lost when 5 gens pop' in order to have something to cry about. And now other lazy people have picked up the rallying cries of lazy Survivor mains everywhere as they attempt to nerf everything they don't like about Killers.

    Git gud.

Careful now, this is the part where you’re gonna be told “we’ll that’s well within the rules” completely missing the point of how broken this “action” “built-in mechanic” is.

    I stand by your comment.

So the Killer going for a 4K is 'broken'? Why? Because Survivors are entitled and think Killers should 'be happy with the 3K'?

I love how Survivor mains on this form seem to believe they have some sort of divine right to dictate how the Killer plays (No NoED, no camping, tunneling, or slugging, don't 'sweat' going for 4Ks, don't play <Insert Killer here>) AND many seem to think they have a right to DC if these rules are broken. 😂😂😂

  • 'Ginger beer' is like 'Ginger ale' or 'Root beer'; it's origins were probably an alcoholic drink (hence the name), but now it's a soda.

The one I drink is called 'Fever Tree Premium Ginger Beer'. It's a bit expensive on Amazon, and the bottles are only 6.8 Fl oz, but if you love the taste of ginger, and love that ginger burn; I say buy it.

It's made with sparkling water and real ginger.

  • I have found a ginger beer (It's a soda) that has that delicious ginger burn. It's angry soda, and I love it. It's how I wake up in the morning. And since ginger does LOADS of healthy things for your body; I don't even have to feel bad drinking it!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2385754#Comment_2385754

In fact, I am not a bad killer. I go out of my way to NOT tunnel people, and I always refused, categorically, to use NOED, and still do to these days. It's funny that you like to assume I am a survivor main just because I express my hatred towards something I hate both when I am on the receiving end or when I play the role that could use that thing. But if there is one thing killer mains do good, it's calling others survivor mains just so they can somehow try to justify them showing the truth for what it is, and avert their attention onto something else. And if you think that just "insulting" others is enough to change the way they play... I don't know if you're just naive or if you are faking that too.

Anyway, grammar is important. What I said was, exactly, "NOED will guarantee kills MORE THAN LIKELY", which is to say it's not going to be like that 100% of the time. But if you only want all or nothing, black or white, then let me add something else: NOED will grant, when it happens, kills that are 100% undeserved. Oh, and another thing.. I know that anything goes, when it comes to trying to have a point but... Well, where could survivors be, since NOED activates when there is just a single thing left to do for them to escape? Maybe in a fridge? On another map? In the lobby? Oh, wait, that's right! Near the exit gates, that the killer sees wherever he is and to which he can now get even faster thanks to, you guessed it, NOED.

'NOED will grant, when it happens, kills that are 100% undeserved.'

    😂😂😂😂😂😂

BS. The Killer found the Survivor, chased the Survivor, and hit the Survivor. He deserved the kill. This statement is some of the Survivor dogma they use to claim NoED is 'OP'; that it somehow magically gives Killers kills without him putting in the same work he put in for the entire match.

Every time someone says 'NoED gives undeserved Kills!', it's clear they don't know what they are talking about. They are regurgitating the same tired line in order to push the 'NoED is OP' BS to everyone. They literally have no valid argument so they bleat the lie.

Guess what? Coup De Grace lets the Killer lunge further! Does this mean hits are undeserved because the Survivor would normally be too far away? Nope! Because that's how the perk works. Just like NoED does it's job, like a perk.

I've torn apart that 'UnDeSeRvEd KiLlS 🤪' argument so many times that I'm bored of it. Keep spewing the lie. Keep pretending NoED is a problem instead of learning to do bones. Keep trying to invent flaws for it because the truth is that NoED is balanced.

Not when the killer can crutch farming, slugging, tunneling, and camping. As long as those tactics are allowed or rather not punished in a meaningful way that deters that from happening then yes only the killer perks need a trim. And I'm not talking an over the top nerf, just a small percentage adjustment to those most overpowered to balance them out. Because the thing I've come to notice that almost every top tier killer has in common are those select few perks, and a common use of cheap tactics to offset the game balance right away so it's easy sailing from then on till they get a 4k and a ######### ton of blood points... Losing out on a couple hounded BP is not enough to keep people from the obviously easy tactics that guarantees a complete victory. I main survivor but if I play killer and only really use the hag and can mop the floor with 99% of all survivors in every match I've ever played and honestly got bored with the lack of challenge and I've never even bothered to use the really OP perks either. I've been as high as lvl 5 killer and seen no difference in difficulty, it's just plain and simply the easiest ######### I've ever played.

Yep, sure. Nerf Killer perks because 'they're used too much' but excuses as to why this logic does not apply to Survivors. Only KILLER perks are clearly OP and thus that's why they are used. Survivors are fine. 🙄

Also the normal Survivor BS of '<x> is a crutch'. And those 'easy tactics' are usually rewarded by Survivors playing like lemmings. But again; all Killer's fault. Survivors are fine. Nerf Killers. Killer perks are used because they are OP, but Survivor perks are used because they are fine.

And evil tactics! How dare the Killer use tactics! The Killer is not allowed to use tactics that WORK! Nerf their perks so they can't use tactics!

You're entire post is Survivor main dogma. Everything Killer is 'OP' and 'Easy' while at the same time you claim the logic of 'Perks are overused, and therefore OP' can't apply to Survivors. Good lord.

  • Yeah, it's BS that it takes Killers 2 seconds to kick, but Survivors can cancel the regression in 1 frame of animation.

I recall one of the devs saying that gen-tapping was supposed to be dangerous to do in a chase. That they were supposed to be locked into an animation long enough to make it a risk if the Killer is chasing you.

Well, 1 frame of animation is not 'locked in' or 'dangerous'. I've seen Survivors gen-tap so quickly that you could not see them change out of their sprinting animation. All it was was a tiny flicker while still running full tilt.

And since the Devs allow Overcharge to be hit WHILE running; it's pretty clear they don't care that it's unbalanced AF. They even WANT Survivors to gen-tap mid-chase and the whole 'It's dangerous during a chase' was slop thrown to Killers to stop the complaining.

Gen regression is Survivor sided AF unless you run Pop. Overcharge can be hit by anyone half awake and can be hit mid-chase, making it pure trash. And kicking without a perk is basically a waste of time.

At least, until they fix the BS 1-frame gen-tapping.

    My fix is this:

When a Killer kicks a gen, it starts regressing.

If a Survivor works on the gen; the regression is PAUSED while they add charges to the gen like normal. They gain progress.

If they leave the gen before SUCCEEDING a Skillcheck; it resumes regressing.

If they hit a Skillcheck; regression ends, and they can leave the gen, and the Killer has to kick it again.

This solution makes regression worth a damn, and stops the pure BS 1-frame gen-taps. So don't expect the devs to actually do it.

And a Pig without snoot boops is a SadPig.

But I would like that skin, complete with the Puppet laugh.

Edit: I want the devs to embrace the snoot boop; make a Pig skin where, if a Survivor does the Point emote and their hitbox touches the Pig's hitbox, you hear 'Boop!' and both Survivor and Killer get 50 points. Can only be done once per Survivor in a match.

    • When a Survivor interacts with an exit gate switch, you receive a loud noise notification. The Entity then blocks both exit gate switches for 12 seconds, plus an additional 6/9/12 seconds for each token in your possession.

    Yep, that's how it works.

Seems working as intended to me; the Exit Gates are powered when the hatch is closed.

  • Modding could be used to make traps glow, or make the Killer or Survivors wear neon pink to make them easier to see. This is a form of cheating, and since you can't make a program that really detects safe mods from cheating mods; they all have to go.

Adrenaline gets activated when all 5 gens have been completed. Sure, you might not have worked on said gens. But if, as you said, you kept the killer busy for all of the match...I'd say you have quite deserved it, probably more than those working on gens. It's not the same thing as NOED, not even in the slightest. Then again, I wouldn't be against more conditions to activate both, even though I'd gladly see NOED simply removed. The biggest (and not the only) difference, though, is that Adrenaline doesn't guarantee you will survive. NOED will guarantee you kills more than likely, as you are bound to have survivors scared of going down and leaving the moment they see the noob... erm, the killer has NOED, or they will try being altruistic and take the place of the previously hooked guy. You don't simply get instadowns, you even get increased move speed. NOED could simply be renamed Hex: Let the game play for you.

And if you think that a mere 15 seconds of chase is a "long" time... I don't know how you perceive time. Because on lots of maps, Bloodlust 1 does make a tremendous difference, and allows hits that shouldn't have been a thing (along with those that already should not be a thing, like being hit from the other side of a dropped pallets or when you are 50m away from a vaulted window).

'NOED will guarantee you kills more than likely'

NoED does not guarantee Kills. The Killer still has to find, chase, and hit people. But Survivor mains acts like it just insta-downs there where they stand. Stop with this lie. 🤦‍♂️

'leaving the moment they see the noob... erm, the killer has NOED'

Ah yes, the other Survivor main tactic; insult Killers in an attempt to pressure them into not using certain perks or not playing a certain way. You may have meant it as a joke but it's still something Survivor mains do. (Example: Only bad Killers use NoED. You don't want to be a bad Killer, right?)

I agree with you somewhat, but as a survivor main it gets really old facing off against bad killers who's only means of winning a match is slugging which does not happen that often, but then you have hook camping, tunneling, and farming of which all can be used as a crutch to to off balance the game right from the start for an easy win. There are a lot of terrible survivors that don't know how to play that can sandbag you, nonstop latency issues, OP killer perks, and killer favored maps it's almost impossible to have a good game where you actually survive a side from the occasional killer who let's you go. Honestly if the killer perks were knocked down just a little it would balance the game just fine. Maybe not even all of them but the ones that are always used are used a lot for a reason. Because it makes it so easy to win.

Only if the Survivor meta is nerfed, too.

Using 'It's used allot' is not a valid excuse to nerf something. The most balanced perk in the world would end up one of the most used perks, too...because it's perfectly balanced. But via your reasoning, it would need a nerf because it's used allot.

Imagine a very popular boon totem for survivors. That allows them to survive situations where you are about to win a game. Doesn't matter if it's close or whatever. You just increase certain numbers and the whole team gets a comeback. Only 1 perk.

I know the entilted ones will come and say "uNbReAkAbLe" or whatever. I just want to make clear why people don't like this perk. You do everything right as a survivor and sometimes, in order to get your team out, you have to use your time very wisely. Wisely means also ignoring useless dull totems. And then you get punished by noed. You did all 5 gens, the team barely made it but NOED just rules is out.

You can understand it, or leave it as it is. It's frustrating and it doesn't matter how you feel about it. The majority of the survivor players feel frustrated of this perk but after all those years. It never got some QoL changes.

What does doing all 5 gens have to do with it? The game is literally still open to be won or lost for you, individually, until you leave the match.

Not when the gens pop. Not even when the gates open or you are in the exit gates.

Until you leave, the Killer has not lost his chance to kill you. This is why I hate this 'all 5 gens' nonsense. The game is not over when gens pop. Survivors did not win, and have not 'basically won' just because 5 gens pop. The 5th gen popping is no different from the first gen popping, other than the Exit Gates turning on.

This '5 gens popped, the game is basically over' argument against NoED is just Survivors tacking an arbitrary win condition on the game that does not exist, and then pointing at it as the flaw against NoED. They are inventing a flaw themselves to then point at like it's a real counter-argument.

If NoED teleported people onto the hook after they leave; fine, OP. But until they cross the exit line & leave the match; they have not won.

And it's not 'rewarding failure' either. The Killer's goal is not to stop gens from popping, it's to kill people. He wins by killing, not based on number of gens unpopped. He did not fail just because 5 gens popped, like some people invent as an excuse. Until Survivors leave; he has not failed to kill them, and all bets are open.

ı think you are off the topic your examples doesn't make sense to me this game is unique making a battleground gunless example is far diffrent u said urself

''Being hooked is part of the game. Being removed is part of the game.''

when you don't get unhooked what are you playing?

killers getting kills are already inevitable if u play correct why the camp force someone out by just making it in a worst way yeah some teams are rough you might want to make it easier but this doesn't change the fact that those survivors are strogner than you and u just forced urself to get a kill by camping and in my opinion this is pure bullshit if there are still gens to proctect

(saying again I'm talking aboutn all scenarios like camping should be gone for forever end game collespe or near to end game collapse camps might be last resort other than that you are just obsessed t owin no matter what)

' u just forced urself to get a kill by camping and in my opinion this is pure bullshit if there are still gens to proctect'

I see, so camping should be punished because YOU don't agree with camping during the match. Not for any valid reason but 'I don't like it'.

'saying again I'm talking aboutn all scenarios like camping should be gone for forever end game collespe or near to end game collapse camps might be last resort other than that you are just obsessed t owin no matter what'

So a Killer trying to win is bad, unless it's in a way some other player deems acceptable? This IS how Survivors usually think, on these forums.

Again; the arguments to punish camping boil down to 'I don't like it' or 'I think it's unfair'. So what? I don't have to ask your permission on how I try to win, and I certainly don't need my hands tied because someone's feelings were hurt when they lost.

You don't get to decide how I try to win, anymore than I g et to say 'Survivors should have to find a new gen at 50%, because they do gens too fast!' I don't get to decide how Survivors win.

All this 'punish camping' stuff is the same BS time and again; It's 'I don't like <x> tactic. Devs, please remove/punish/allow us an exploit to use because I can't accept losing!'

And that's ALL it is, is 'I can't accept losing'. It's the whine of players who want the Killer screwed over by game mechanics, or demand unhooks NOW. They want to unhook their friend NOW, and they can't do that if the Killer camps!

Losing sucks. It's NEVER as fun as winning. The problem is that this player base seems to think 'I don't like losing, so the game should be changed so I can't lose'. Rather than 'How can I improve so I'm not found first?'.

Camping is a valid tactic; devs have said this. If you can't accept YOUR OPPONENT using all the tools as his disposal to win, JUST LIKE SURVIVORS; then why are you playing the game?

I don't care if you don't like camping. That does not mean it should be removed or punished.

damn bruh that's some %100 percent of bullshit to me sorry no hard feelings but this is your own ego there is no one that wants to camped or tunneled all community can agree on that loosing or dying is not the point imagine a game that yo ujust stand and wait wouldu play it? i think you don't who would want to play that you litttealry wasting your time no enjoy inculded This is excatly what is being camped I am here to play a game not to wait so you can win this is comment of yours is just saying ı am a killer main

Imagine thinking a game where the Killer is supposed to put you on hooks and remove you from the game is wrong for...eing put on a hook and being removed from the game.

Seriously, why do people always think the Killer is in the wrong for getting his kills? This is why camping can't be punished; because the counter argument is 'It makes me feel bad' or 'It removes me from the game' or 'I have to wait on the hook'.

Well no DUH! It's like getting upset because you die first in a Battle Royale. Should they remove the guns, since you play the game to win, and not to die first, but you keep dying first? I mean, you don't want to wait for a new match, right? So just remove the guns so you can play before getting removed. 🤦‍♂️

The other reason it can't be removed is because it would force the Killer into giving up hooks when doing so would cost him the game, or otherwise remove his player agency.

Being hooked is part of the game. Being removed is part of the game. If you cannot accept those two things; why are you playing this game?

  • Billy and Bubba sprinting with chainsaws should trip and get their own leg. Then they can't run anymore. They can still walk, though.

  • @Bluerry said:

survivors abusing it doesN't mean they should stop trying to punish camp and tunnel that doesn't feel right something at the end could be done

I will say it again; Survivors (and Killers) not liking a tactic does not mean it should be banned or changed to not work.

Anti-Camping threads are nothing but a bunch of bad players screaming that the game should be changed to remove whatever kills them. After camping, it's tunneling, then slugging, then whatever kills them next, and after that, and that...

These people sublimely believe they are gods of DBD and that anything that works against them is 'cheap' and 'unfun' and needs to be removed for their fragile egos. They cannot admit that they make mistakes, so they never improve, and thus they die to the same tactics over and over again, then blame those tactics for working.

They will never be happy because anything that beats them must be 'broken' since they are so good at the game, so they will keep demanding nerfs and changes and punishments until they literally cannot lose. Only then; only once their ego is appeased, will the game be 'balanced' in their heads.

  • You are expected to be hooked. This is how the Killer progresses HIS objective. Therefor; being hooked is part of the gameplay loop. Just because you don't like it does not mean it's not part of the gameplay loop.

And if Survivors bang out gens instead of humping the hook looking for those unhook points; the Killer WOULD lose the game. They would get 1 kill. Maybe 2.

But there should never be a mechanical punishment aside from 'it's a bad play' for a tactic just because Survivors have easily bruised egos. To quote you 'No ifs, ands, or buts'.

  • I see Survivors still think 'fair = nerfed to useless'. 😂

No, we don’t need them back…

if you guys don’t want people DCing don’t play unfair killers

or don’t go down quick as a aurvivor

And here we see the DCer in his natural habitat; blaming everyone for his own actions while he ruins the game.

You're subjective opinion on what is 'unfair' does not give you a license to DC when your fee-fees get hurt, bucko. I can't wait until the penalty comes back, so you either stop DCing, or eat the punishment while continuing to blame <Insert Killer You Dislike Here>.

  • @Jason_Soreknees said:

I probably should have googled face camping before starting this topic. Would have given me a chance to see that changes were implemented to prevent camping but were abused.

I get that it's a legitimate tactic. Just seems like a ######### one and I don't understand why anyone would want to do it anyway. Surely it's boring as hell? If the poor bastard being camped was getting points for it, it would be a different story. But as it stands It just seems really ######### for the unlucky person who is being camped.

The person being camped SHOULD get points.

Part of it is a pressure thing; The Killer has to find someone, start a chase, eat a pallet, hit them, probably eat a second pallet, hit them again (probably after baiting out Dead Hard), check to make sure no one is around to flashlight save, pick them up, then carry them to a hook.

Almost every time, 2 or 3 gens pop in that FIRST CHASE alone. The Killer has now gotten ONE survivor 1/3rd of the way to Dying. What is, at maximum, 1/12th of his goal. While Survivors are now anywhere from 1/6 to 2/6 (1/3rd) to even 3/6ths (1/2) done with their objective (5 gens & exit gates).

Or it could be 1/4 of his goal, if he gets that Survivor dead. Plus, one less Survivor means one less person doing gens. AND, since 99% of all Survivors seem to believe unhooking is their divine right; they leave gens to sit around the hook. This means 1 hooked Survivor could be two or more Survivors not doing gens.

So the Killer is under pressure from the start to slow down the game. Just hooking Survivors is a temporary solution; KILLING them is a permanent solution. So they have to kill them ASAP, and so they camp to get that Kill.

And Survivors reward camping; they stop doing gens to hang around the hook. They expect the Killer to leave because they really want him too. And when he does not; they get angry and demand the devs MAKE the Killer leave.

But the Killer needs 13-15 minutes to 12 hook everyone, chases included.

A lone Survivor, doing gens without Great skillchecks or items or perks, can do all five in 6.66 minutes. Let's say 7 minutes.

That time inequality is what pressures Killers to camp; They HAVE to create slowdown.

  • @Jason_Soreknees said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2383902#Comment_2383902

Not a great example really. In pubg you could just pick up a sniper and do the same. What are you expecting me to do as a survivor? Hook the killer and face camp him?

I play more killer than survivor since returning to DBD (think I'm 13 for killer now and 16 for survivor) and I've never once been in a position where dry humping a hooked survivor is necessary, not unless the gates are powered anyway.

The point being that people are screaming for 'punishments' to a tactic because they don't like it. That's the only reason, because it's not an exploit or cheat, so it's only because it makes them angry.

And their excuse is usually 'Killers can REMOVE PEOPLE FROM THE GAME! 😱' like 5 years of DBD and they just now realized they get booted when they die. And they try to act like the Killers have a moral obligation to NOT do this until Survivors fill some sort of fun quota.

And your 'weapon' to 'fight back' against the Killer's Sniper/Face camping? Do gens! Survivors ignore this fact to scream that 'camping gets the Killer a 4K' like they are physically FORCED to go for an unsafe unhook. Because they literally cannot accept that they sometimes can't save their friend.

They try to unhook, die, and blame everything and everyone but themselves for trying to unhook in the Killer's face. It's not that they should have done gens, no! They DEMAND that unhook, so the Killer must have teleporting hooks, and go blind, and lose his ability to attack, and move slower, and give his next earned 1,000,000,000,000 BP to the hooked Survivor! Because they were removed from the game EARLY! 😱

But what is 'early'? Seriously; what is the 'fair' time to kill a Survivor? Because I've been told 'Not before a gen pops' but 00% of games; 3 gens pop at the same time, leaving the Killer 2 gens to kill 5 people.

Oh yeah, and the 'Nerf NoED' group claims 'Survivors have won when 5 gens pop', so I'm not supposed to kill AFTER all the gens pop, either.

So the Killer has this 4-1 gen window, in which multiple gens can be progressed, to kill people without it being 'unfair', according to The Survivor Rulebook For Killers 54387465th Edition.

Or...Or, Survivors can accept that Killers can camp, and being removed from a PvP game is part and parcel of a PvP game where the opponent has to remove you to win? Maybe? We're not <bleep>ing AI over here. Survivors can't just tie our hands because their feelings are hurt & their egos tell them that they are DBD gods, so it was CLEARLY cheap tactics that made them lose!

  • I will also add; Why does every suggestion jump on the 'Take away Killer's BP' mindset with camping?

That's like saying, in PubG 'Snipers kill me before I can play. So unfair. Snipers should lose health each time they fire their gun!'. Just because you dislike a tactic does not mean it needs some over the top punishment.

  • Oh boy, this subject is not brought up once an hour on these forums or anything.

A punishment to 'camping' (IE: The Killer confirming Kills) was tried before; Survivors abused the hell out of it to force free unhooks.

    The bottom line is this:

    1. The Killer can confirm his kills. he's allowed to knock someone out of the game. This is his role.
    2. Survivors don't deserve unhooks just because they want them
    3. Survivors don't get to decide how much fun they have had before the Killer kills them
    4. The game does not last long enough for the Killer to 12 hook and, let's face it, any mechanic put in place would basically force a 12 hook. Which is what Survivors want
    5. Any mechanic put in place would be abused. Because it already was.

I've already replied to what you just said in the post you are quoting. Once again: survivors just don't have the luxury of seeing who the killer is before the trial starts, so they can't dodge the lobby like killers constantly do. Let the survivors see the killer before the trial, and the frequency of DCing among survivors will drop next to nothing. And if they fix the hit validations and remove the ridiculous hits by vpn killers, and then rework horrible maps like Hawkins and Midwich, I don't think anyone will ever DC again in this game. This is how you solve the DC problem properly, no extra punishments needed.

If Survivors could see who the Killer is, they would take the perks and items needed to counter that Killer every time.

They would also lobby dodge 'unfun' Killers (read: Killers they are too lazy to learn to play against), so those Killers would never get a match.

Allowing Survivors to see who the Killer is is one of the worst ideas ever.

I recognize that you are passionate about this man, but maybe take a moment to relax. Sitting on hook and pressing a button a few times isn't gameplay. Chasing is gameplay. Looping is gameplay. IDC if none of the gens get finished if I'm at least having fun running around. Even dying at the end to NOED doesn't really matter as long as the chases were actually enjoyable.

I wish the various "encouragements" we already had worked, I really do. People point to BBQ and No Way Out as an example of something healthy but the number of killers with BBQ that still play like this is not insignificant. And the game already punishes you for camping with a hit to your emblem status, which obviously doesn't work either. That's why so many people are trying to think of active mechanics to combat it.

But there's nothing to 'combat'. The devs have said camping is a strat.

It's like saying 'being sniped first in a Battle Royale means I can't play. We should punish snipers!' But sniping is a strat to win 'But it removes people from the game! So the devs are wrong and it should be punished!'

And, once a week, like clockwork, some Survivor scampers onto these forums to suggest 'slow down/stop the timer' like it's never been thought of.

And the last one to do so basically said 'it punishes camping, so it does it's job'. They ignored every problem with it, including that it's abuseable, because all they cared about was the end result; camping being punished. So they were fine with EVERY problem that arises from it.

But the bottom line is; the Killer's job is to remove you from the game. He does not have to ask you if you had fun first. He does not have to ask your permission.

If people can't handle that their opponent can remove them from the game 'before they had enough fun' (like fun can be measured or has a quota), then why are they playing a PvP game where their opponent can remove them from the game?

Camping is not the problem; people being unable to accept losing are the problem. They can't comprehend that they may not be gods at this game, so it was CLEARLY a 'broken strat' that got them killed. And CLEARLY this 'broken strat' needs to be removed, so they can play like the gods of DBD they know they are.

Except, if camping were somehow removed, these same people would die to something ELSE, and claim THAT tactic is 'broken' or 'unfun' (look at every 'nerf <x>' thread), because it's NEVER their fault when they lose! They are DBD gods! So remove anything that does not let them play to their godly best!

  • @vacaman said:

NOED is one of those perks that buff killer even if they don't use it because they condition the survivors thinking "should i do totems in case of noed?". If they nerf noed they won't only nerf noed users, they will also nerf killers in general because survivors won't have any reason to waste time breaking dull totems. Same way as DS, BT, UB, DH, deception... are perks that buff survivors even if they don't use them because the killer has to adapt just in case they have them.

This. I have said this time and again, but get ignored.
