  • People keep saying that this "trick" was used against campers. What about the fact that it prevents non camping killers from punishing bad hook saves? Stop acting like every scummy survivor tech is only used against killers that "deserve" it. Just like killers, survivors get upset when their unintended advantage is taken away. Deal with it.

Forever Freddy wasn't that powerful against SWF which is definitely true, but the majority of players are solo queue and getting even one bad teammate can ruin the game for you. I appreciate that you aren't just flaming me and I totally understand why the changes are frustrating, I personally hated the Oni nerf (although it seems it won't be permanent). Also, the reason nurses aren't around as much isn't because she isn't strong, its because she is no longer easy, all those omega blink or 3-5 blink nurses have all left, bad nurses now get punished a lot more, but good nurses will still demolish survivors. I personally think its a sign that Nurse was too easy (especially for being the best killer) and that the devs want strong killers to be skill based rather than just picking a killer and guaranteeing a win. P.S. Thanks for responding, I just want you to know I respect your opinions and just wanted to provide some of my own thanks :)

The nurse was skill based to begin with. You can't just pick up the nurse and dominate a red rank squad. It took me months just to get decent with her back in the day until I could eventually play her addonless. The issue with the nurse isn't her power level. If you played her you'd know the issue is how she FEELS to play. She FEELS clunky. She FEELS unsatisfying to traverse the map with. Her game feel is UNPLEASANT. Do you understand?

  • The hitbox meme is getting old. If you don't like then quit until they fix it. They're working on it. Chill the ######### out.

  • So nobody is going to talk about the fact that black incense on the plague came first, and gave her far more free tracking than Renjiro with absolutely no downsides besides having to infect people first? Nobody? Really? Okay. I'll keep using it then since nobody seems to care.

Look, I know this is a hard concept for survivors to understand but ultra rare addons should be powerful. That's the whole point of them being rare. Imagine if BNP repaired 25% of your current gen but regressed the next one you touched by 25%. Or if you used an anti hemo syringe and it put you in the broken status the next time you got injured. That wouldnt be fun, would it? Probably not.

(Some) survivors have this weird viewpoint that everything a killer does needs to have an intense downside, and that just isn't fun gameplay for the killer. Because, as hard as this is to fathom, killer players want to have fun too. I'm not saying things should not have drawbacks. But when the drawbacks outweigh the bonuses then you have a block of lead for an add-on that nobody will use. I'm 90% certain that Billy's future ultra rares are going to be useless. Look at Family Crest and Renjiro's Crappy Glove. Look at Demogorgons lame addons. This is the direction they are taking killer addons and it doesn't look good.

TL;DR: An UR add-on should be either transformative of the killer's power or strong enough to justify any downside. Not just a blatant additional handicap.

  • Ignore them. Twitter people are the saltiest. Mori them again if you see them.

  • Humor needs to be more widespread in this community. The game is about murderers and victims stuck in an endless loop of suffering. The community could stand to be more lighthearted.

  • Honestly, being the obsession should be dangerous. Right now it isn't. Most obsession perks revolve around avoiding the obsession. Besides Remember Me which is a ######### perk and Rancor which is a trash endgame perk. Dying Light even buffs the obsession with no downside. I honestly don't run obsession perks because they're all pretty garbage.

  • You are correct, OP. I hate certain perks but I will never begrudge people for using them. If its in the game, and intended, then its fair.

  • No. People are tired of hearing stats on this forum without context because stats without context are useless. People also only use said stats to silence killer complaints, or they use them as a bludgeon to support some nonsense argument they have about balance. Even BVHR has said countless times not to take their stats at face value, and that they don't buff/nerf purely based on them but people continue to invoke them regardless. Data. Needs. Context. This is why statisticians hate regular people. They almost never use data properly.

So I'm gonna say: "No u".

I checked. Can't find Christmas cosmetics for Spirit 🤔😜

No, you're absolutely right. People are going crazy about nerfs and buffs. And all the name calling and attacking. Just chill. Jeebus.

And while everyone is complaining that "game is still broken" every time a patch comes out, no one appreciates the long list of fixes.

People need to be respectful about this. Imagine you'd be constantly attacked at your job. Doesn't matter what you do, you always have to deal with a ton of BS. That's tiring.

But people are not thinking about that. Instead: Short sided overreactions.

So, I think it's great that you are trying to steer the discussion in a different direction. I appreciate it. 🎄🎁

I'm a paramedic, so I am constantly attacked at my job. For things that I have literally no control over. So it is what it is. You either can grow thicker skin or open a bakery.

And I also don't celebrate Christmas (I'm Jewish) so I'm not super stoked about some sweaters.

I never use statistics here as argument. That's your killer mains on this forum that like to do that. For me it's personal experience. When I tell you nurse is fine even with her nerfs, that's not statistics. That's my weekly games against nurse in red ranks where she's still able to get 3-4k easily on ANY map.

See, I was about to agree with you until you mentioned maps. Sanctum of Wrath and Hawkins have a large amount of random (huge) deadzones. They can ruin your entire trial if you come across one. They aren't the only maps with these problems either.

  • @Peanits said:

We did some changes in the hotfix today (notes can be found at the top of the screen). It should hopefully feel a little better on a controller now.

Based on my small amount of experience, killer mains and survivor mains complain equally and 50/50 players fly around telling everyone they're wrong.

Gotta have something to do while the game queues I guess.

  • "i'M a FiFtY/FiFtY pLaYeR, mY oPiNiOn Is RiGhT."

This thread stinks like killer bait.

  • So they removed the flick and dumpstered his best add-on in one hotfix. The Yamaoka curse continues with no sign of stopping.

  • The devs obviously don't remember how to fun iridescent addons. They're either useless as ######### (iridescent family crest) or completely goddamn busted (iridescent hatchet). Ink Lion is a yellow add-on and it is better than both of the oni's ultra rares now. Because that makes a lot of goddamn sense. Great job so far.

  • They should have just deleted it. Right now it benefits survivors more than you since now they can delete your blood orbs when you're in no position to capitalize on their auras. I would have preferred a cooldown on the aura reading instead of this.

Way to go, BVHR. You've manage to make both of the oni's "top tier" addons about as useful as his brown ones.

  • Looks like both of his red addons are useless now. I kinda want a refund tbh.

  • They completely ruined it when a simple cooldown would have worked fine. BVHR, as usual, balances with a sledgehammer.

  • Next thread: why cats are not dogs.

They are asking for buffs, I suggest you go back and read them.

Then ignore them. I just want to be able to play her without feeling like #########. Blink, fatigue, blink, fatigue, blink, fatigue for map pressure isn't exactly riveting gameplay. Since I have to constantly save my second blink for possible chases.

If you actually played her you'd know how miserable this feels. But I'm guessing you don't. She is clunky and horrific. End of discussion.

You mean some killers are overpowered? May I ask which one?

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say they were talking about spirit and maybe oni. They're the "no skill omg overpowered" scapegoats right now. Which usually comes from people who have never touched the killer side in their lives.

  • @Umbrae_pk said:

Slow vaults have been added into the game a while back, and ever since then us survivor mains have been needlessly suffering more.

I'm more than sure the only reason they were added was to nerf loops. Though even though that was it's intended purpose it's not what it's been used for.

Since the slow vault animation is so slow, since you get sucked back to the window after you'd vaulted it, and since we know that if you're too close to the window you'll get hit, it basically guarantees a free hit for the killer.

If you round a corner and vault a window and the killer can't predict that then they don't deserve that hit. But of course they get it, thanks to the slow vault.

There should honestly the a perk that completely removes slow vaults or something, make me use up a perk slow, I don't care! As long as the slow vaults are no more!

Learn to run tiles. Nobody else seems to have an issue with this but you.

Well it is. Do we need a video where the killer tunnels someone, picks him up and he ds him to prove that? You should've put completely different topic to this thread. You tried to explain it better after the video. And this is one scenario where things don't really go as they should. The survivor is taking advantage of the ds by using it offensively which I don't think should happen in the way he did it by running back to the hook after being healed while you are there literally in your face. But you have to stop making these commnens about how you downed someone else and you even hooked him. That should not have anything to do with another survivors perk. It is the fact that he managed to pull that offensive action is not cool. But the current suggestions that hooking someone should just disable DS are just really really bad because it will affect all other possibilties where the killer actually tunnels again after he hooks someone. The way they may change DS for example is - DS to have some period of time where it cannot be disabled and after that time if you are still in some range of the killer while he hooks someone else ds should be disabled. But if you're out of it DS is not affected. But that will be very tricky to pull off by the devs. too many things to consider - people on the ground, 2 floor buildings, some other mecanics like traps that may not allow you to get away. Still may be possible

If they hook someone else they aren't tunneling. Unless we are changing the defininition of "tunneling" again?

High ranks for console killers is a shitshow. If it didn't suck, your queues wouldn't suck.

  • How many Meg hate topics are you going to create? I hate her too but damn, this is getting ridiculous.

  • Because survivors want constant audio queues from every killer or they're "uncounterable". Oni has super loud footsteps, a loud notification when his meter is full, and a loud roar when he rages out. He loud.

keep the animation. get rid of the fact that you can kill every survivor after first hook.

    simple.

Anything after first hook is pointless. Imagine if you couldn't use a key until the gates were powered. If they change moris again (because this isn't the first time) to death hook nobody will use them. If moris get nerfed to this point I expect keys to be hella nerfed to compensate. Since they both serve the same purpose.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/899887#Comment_899887

Camping and slugging can be prevented if the survivors are good. Using a mori is just a coinflip if you get found first and if you do, and the killer is focused on killing you once you get unhooked then bam, you're out.

It's also not the only way to win. This just sounds like you would rather have easy games instead of actually improving your killer gameplay. Apply pressure and you'll see that survivors will have a harder time pumping out those gens.

Have you also considered that if you're facing good survivors and you get outplayed, then you weren't supposed to win anyway? You're not entitled to win every game. It's important to take a loss and learn from it.

So when survivors win, they deserved it and the killer got outplayed. But if a killer wins, survivors can come here and talk about how overpowered that killer was. Because every time a survivor loses it's a game mechanic issue, but if a killer loses it was "skill'. Ever since I joined this forum that's the sentiment I've seen. This is almost as bad as the subreddit.

  • @burntFuse said:

If I have one complaint, it's how long blood orbs stick around. Sometimes there are so many of them left behind when he comes out of his power that he'll almost immediately go back into it. I feel like they should work like scratch marks behave with Legion's frenzy. Whatever's left when he activates his power are permanently removes, and new orbs don't spawn until the power's deactivated.

Blood orbs only reach obscene amounts when people decide not to heal. Also, this is a false equivalency since it isn't like Legion needs to eat scratch marks to frenzy.

fI they change blood orbs to disappear on every blood fury then they need to highly increase how many blood orbs survivors create to compensate, as well as the blood increasing addons. If survivors decide not to heal against a killer that gains strength from you being injured, they deserve to be punished. Like cleansing against plague.

  • @SirFloofington said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/902378#Comment_902378

I agree denying that first hit as long as possible is the way to go but isn't always an option. Sometimes you're caught in a bad spot or a teammate is. He's oppressive in the sense that 1 mistake will start to snowball the game quickly. Good Nurses are worse I admit and same with spirits but they're also incredibly rare compared to Oni and his lower skillcap.

So basically what I'm reading here is, a killer is oppressive if they can capitalize on your mistakes but they are also oppressive if they outplay you? If you get caught in a bad position the killer deserves to punish that. Sounds to me that you're a little biased.

Look. Deny him his first hit and he's a M1 killer with no power. If he manages gets his power, then you get two global warnings. One when his meter is full and one when he transforms. Find a structure and he can't down you. He's also ######### on every single indoor map, and even more ######### om his own map. So, I don't think you understand the word "oppressive". Oni snowballs if you allow him to snowball. Like all good killers do. Release nurse (high movement speed and 3 blinks base) was oppressive. There wasn't much yli could do against her. I played survivor during that time, so I'm very acquainted with. Oni is just strong (but still highly loopable). Learn the difference.

  • Sounds like people just want the pallet vacuum back.

  • I would love a mew killer that rewards skill and practice like Huntress or Nurse. Too bad the survivors would riot against anything they can't instantly counter with an unsafe pallet loop.

Every future killer will most likely be a stale mess with niche/bad perks, not to mention with counter play built into their kit. Instead of being something survivors figure out.

  • @Chatkovski said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/897379#Comment_897379

Neither of these two suggestions helps the hooked survivor.

Many welcome the Kindred buff, but its impact is neutral, since it is still a perk. What does Kindred replace? BT? DS? DH? SB? Adrenaline? Lithe? Self-care? Inner Strength?

Camping must be annihilated, intrinsically. This must not have any positive impact for the killer: the camped survivor must not be able to die on the hook. And the survivors do not have to be forced to use any perk for that.

And I want to add that the equivalent of camping is not the genrushing. The equivalent would be that a killer is unable to break a generator or attack the survivor who repairs it. And if the killer tries something, he would take the risk that another generator repairs itself. It does not exist.

Your suggestion had been attempted in the past and it was abused. Survivors looped near the hooked victim to artificially extend the timer. Sometimes I wonder if some of the people in this community have played any other versus games. You're not always meant to have agency and sometimes you lose. Happens in fighting games when you get juggled, and it happens in shooters when you get spawn camped. Sometimes you draw the short straw. Get over it. I just got camped in my last trial and guess what I did? I queued again. It was that easy.

And if new players quit due to this, I would have hated to see them join back in the dark ages. Before NOED was a hex. Or when you could get moried without being hooked first. 20 second cooldown on sprint burst. This is objectively the best balance state the game has ever been in and I'm tired of this constant whining about camping. Its an overblown problem that people won't stop circlejerking about.

Isn't that fine that some maps are darker than others, just like some maps are larger than others? It's just more variety where some maps will be harder or easier for certain killers, survivors, or builds.

Feels like most maps are too bright anyway.

No, it is not fine. The sanctum of wrath is so large, AND dark, that it becomes a pain in the ass to play it. Not to mention every Blendette in the community is taking advantage of it's increased presence I'm the map queue. They can make maps darker for ambience/variety without making them unplayable.

Playability > Everything else. And I find it funny you said "builds". As if survivors use more than one.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

Slugging and camping is boring for survivors. I never hear killers complain about that. The excitement in a match is dependent on the killer. Not the survivors. The survivors can't make the killer take a chase. They can't make the killer apply pressure. Whether the match is an exciting back and forth, or a steamroll is largely down to the killer.

As for gens. They can't balance a game like this around the red ranks. I know red rank killers think everything should revolve around them. But it can't. There is far too big a gap in skill levels to do that. But I'll bite. What do you propose the devs do to relieve some of the pressure on killers?

Why would killers complain about slugging? That's one of the ways they apply pressure. I don't hear survivors complaining about looping, DS, or dead hard, right? Because those things benefit them. Nobody complains when they benefit from something.

And the excitement factor of the game is largely based on rank. Because if you're in the red ranks, and not playing a killer with map pressure and a chase power, you're going to have a bad time. Period. Optimal survivors control the game and there is no balance for that because the vast majority of survivors are potatoes. I'm so sick of this hackneyed discussion, because there is no way for everyone to be happy. They just keep pointing fingers at the opposing role.

Less variety in red ranks? are you ######### kidding me? Nurse/Hillbilly/Spirit were the only things I have ever seen there. At least now we have more killers that are pretty okay and perks that have gotten buffed that directly make other killers more efficient.

Of course it required skill too. But JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE GOOD AT NURSE DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO BREAK THE FUNCTIONS OF THE GAME.

And now you just see Hillbilly. Much variety. I don't even face Oni and he just came out.

  • @Youko said:

Just want to chime in here to say that as someone who game tested on a AAA title at one of the big three console makers, I doubt many people here actually understand the man hours and resources that go into making a game. Bug testing alone, even at the lowest level, is thousands per day, even with a small team, before you even add in administrative costs. And that's only one small department.

Furthermore, every company has varying skill sets and available resources. Not every painter is Van Gogh, but people should still be appreciated for the work and skill they put into their craft, even if they fall short. If I had to face the deluge of entitlement trash talk that happens to game developers about something I loved and worked hard at, I wouldn't be long for this world.

Please stop living your life through the game. Be respectful, critique, and if you are that unhappy, have the decency to move on. Or, if you're passionate, work towards becoming a game dev and being the change you want to see.

No one, and I mean NO ONE, has to sit and and take being ground into the dirt the way they are being here, or anywhere else in life for that matter.

So the next time you eat a meal you don't like, make sure you don't criticize the cook. Doesn't matter that you paid for it, become a chef yourself first before you dare criticize them. See how dumb that sounds? Because its dumb to have this mindset.

I'm really getting sick of people acting like the entire gaming community is a ravenous band of toxic murderers who bully the poor devs, when all people want is consistency and transparent communication about a product they paid for. That's it.

Nobody is acting like its "their life" but creators have an obligation to be transparent with their consumers. Which is something I can relate to. If I do a commissioned art piece for someone and they criticize it, how dumb would it be for me to tell them to "become an artist" before they're allowed to have an opinion? During my day job as a paramedic, is nobody allowed to criticize my work unless they're paramedics themselves? Do you have to be a director or a film student before you are allowed to criticize movies ? The list goes on.

You can't gatekeep criticism and feedback. Unless the feedback is disrespectful, they should at least acknowledge it.

I play both killer and survivor and gf is one of my favorites but he's absolutely broken. The devs need to stop catering to winey killer mains and keep the balance. He needs like a stack system for stalks before exposing or something nothing worse then out playing a GF the whole game to get exposed and camped to death on your first hook from a salty ghost face.

As hard as this might be for you, saying "I play both sides" does not make you more right. Every single killer with an instant down has to work for it. And every instant down perk can be disabled/avoided. Counter play. Survivor instant heals were "press a button, win a health state" with no counterplay outside of Franklin's Demise. • I play killer on both console and PC because my friends are split among the platforms. So here is my point of view. I have no issue playing red ranks on PC. Thanks to the mouse sensitivity (and aim accel), and optimization it isn't a big deal. But comparatively, console is a miserable experience. Constant frame drops (getting 360'd at 15 fps never gets old), extremely low controller sensitivity, etc. Who wants to slog through red ranks with that experience, especially just to end up getting teabagged at the exit gate and/or sent ######### messages if you actually manage to win. Console killer is about as fun as pulling teeth in the red ranks.

I'm pretty sure most dedicated killers sit around green and purple ranks. Until the game is optimized, don't expect this to change.

  • In a game where people can get killed and not permamently die, get sliced by a chainsaw and not be turned into chunky salsa, lose about 50 pints of blood, mend internal wounds with nothing but their hands, two actual ghost women, wooden pallets stunning 7 foot tall monstrosities, and a giant spider god presiding over it all... The oni hitting you with a downward strike through the window is where you want to argue realism?

Either you're extremely salty about a greedy vault, or this is straight up bait. Realism is NOT this game's wheelhouse. Sorry to disappoint you.
