To help players from both sides avoid trolls then i think the killers gamertag should be shown to survivors in lobby. I only play as killer and have used this once to avoid a survivor who spent the whole game chasing me.

You literally just posted this same idea a while ago under a different title....

Seems to me like this combo would put survivors in a lose-lose situation. Either do Bones and deal with the effects of Pentimento or don't do bones and get punished with NOED.

Just curious if there is something I haven't thought. Also, not saying any lose-lose combo is automatically OP or unwinnable since others already exist like running BBQ and Iron Maiden.

Yeah you can counter it....by leaving out of the exit gates.....NoED is still a 1 man out at the end of the game situation. Unless you wanna play hero, you either take the risk and save the person who got hit....ooor, you take your goofy self and leave out of the exit gates, the games been going on for 10 minutes or more ######### are you still doing playing hot potato with the killer?

Evolve had a lot of problems even before it's release. Though it did have some power creeping with some hunters feeling way better like Sunny, but the same went for some monsters like on behemoth with his roll slam- roll slam - roll slam. But those characters did get nerfed. And I don't think the last batch of hunters and monster were too crazy. I think dumbest was when Kala was able to place one teleporter in the arena, and one out, so you could just leave the dome when the monster was on you, but that too changed. And I remember Emet being a throw pick

It had a really confusing pre-order naming convention that gave the feeling that they were trying to nickel and dime you. It didn't help that the jet pack was bugged to not recharge while scaling walls and people called it a "walking simulator". Also, Wraith was bugged from the start so that her abduction did double instances of damage.

Now that I think of. .. I always remember Monster having the longer queues while the game was still alive.

The biggest problem with evolve was Matchmaking and a dying player base. Because of how specialized each hunter role was, there was a HUGE difference between playing with group and playing with randoms. Having someone new on a critical role was a death sentence, and that's even if people bothered to stay, because I remember people instantly leaving if the new guy didn't pick Assault.

New players don't conserve resources like heals, jet fuel, or shields. They don't know how to dodge or even what a good dome looks like. Hell, I thought Evolve was really really well balanced.... so well balanced that you needed a team to play it. Not randoms, friends.

They did do some crazy stuff later on, like give solos buffs like faster recharge on fuel because surprise surprise... they lost a lot. But even that went completely off rails when there isn't that many players left but the die-hard fans that know how to play.

I dunno if you played right before it shut down. But after it went free to play for a while they managed to kinda crater game balance with changes to the cage and tracking. It got ridiculous. To the point where new monsters didn't even wanna bother with the role. When you only get about 45 seconds of safety before you're tracked and caged with barely anything having been fed on.

If the killer were a huge deal, and truly balanced, then 50% of players would play killer. That means if 1,000 ppl were playing, there would be 500 killers queued while there are only enough survivors playing to fill 125 lobbies. The other 375 killers get to sit around and wait for survivors to die or escape and re-queue.

By having things like Playing With Freinds, or making the Killer experience more frustrating, it shifts the player count to the Survivor side.

That logic goes out the window, because you're assuming people are equally skilled. Most people joining the game, er well...most people in general don't want to play killer. For multiple reasons, even when the killer is clearly uber powerful, people won't touch it. New players and lower ranked players don't touch Nurse, don't touch blight, and rarely touch spirit even before her nerf. So that 50% of players would play killer is false. The first thing most people do after joining this game is pick up a survivor. Then as soon as they touch killer and feel awkward about the aiming mechanics, the time management, etc they ditch. Even back before this game had power creep, back when There was just trapper and a handful of others, people didn't touch killer, even when it was RIDICULOUSLY op back then. Killer queues back then were maybe 1-4 minutes for killer. Survivor more like 5-7 minutes. Now adays though Killer queue is like 30 seconds, and survivor queue is like 1-4 minutes. All that happened was player count got inflated and power creep set in, making current killer less of an attractive role thus sending our queues into warp speed.

You keep saying that, "If killer was truly balanced" its not supposed to be balanced....its supposed to be powerful so your first natural instinct is to avoid interacting with that mofo at all costs. Not, jump in front of it with flashlights being a hotshot, Not making loud noises baiting it into a chase where you can find safe pallets and extend chases for multiple minutes, not sit in front of a generator in front of the killers face knowing you're safe due to old DS, not sit around all game trying to 1v1 the killer, etc.

The point is to run, hide, NOT GET CAUGHT. If they went by that they could already be adding new ways for survivors to actually team up against the killer instead of trying to 1v1 all day.

I disagree. Yes its an asymmetrical game but that doesn't mean that one side should have too much power and completely dominate one side. The equality comes when 1 killer is equal to 4 survivors not 1 killer completely destroying 4 survivors with very little effort and vice versa. That is and should be even

Thats cool and all, but realistically that doesn't happen. What happens, and has happened and is still happening in the case of DBD is, Instead of leaving killers powerful, you end up with power creep on survivors side.....which would be fine, if you had the studio capable and fast enough to adjust the entire killer roster in tandem to deal with the power creep...... <---But that doesn't happen. So you end up with a small handful of viable killers, and the rest of the roster largely ignorable because they've been creeped out of any kind of competent play.

Fixing an issue with a killer being overtuned is easy. Fixing an issue with a survivor/hunter is not easy in the slightest, because you have to adjust (in this games case) 20+ other killers to make up for what you added. I'm all for adding more content and new content, but when you ignore all the previous content and don't account for it when adding the new stuff it makes the game miserable. This games perk system is the best example of that. Perks are well beyond being just some additional bonus for your characters. They are now to the point where they ARE the game. They simply have too much weight in some instances.

I played a lot of matches since the update, and i've only seen Rin-chan like once when before there was an army of them all with the same school girl kawaii desu :3 costumes. For me it's basically like the update when Stridor was gutted and you couldn't hear the footstep where of a sudden they disappeared.

The killers i see VERY consistently these days like 70% of the time are Nurse, Blight, Huntress and Bubba to the point where it's become so boring playing survivor because i already know what to expect.

This is not a direct complaint to her nerf really, but every single time a killer gets nerfed in this game, you see always this group of people who sing the same old song of "now the killer takes skill, the bad players will stop playing and the good ones are gonna be fine", except that's pretty much never the reality because the supposedly "good players" seem to disappear too.

Did they all move to the planet Mars servers alongside the "not carried by insta saw A tier" Billys?

What......what did you seriously expect to happen after calling for her kit to be nerfed for months on end while the devs passively buffed things to be used against her? And boon totems....bruh...

Stop complaining. You got exactly what you wanted.

If I being honest I can't take most people seriously on this forum when they suggest things for balance. I'm sorry to be rude but some ideas are just so terrible that I glad the devs don't listen to the community when it comes to feedback sometimes. It just seems like the majority of people on here don't want the game to be balanced they just want to make one side completely terrible and the game uneven.

Maybe I'm just being ridiculous myself but do people here even want balance for both sides?

Technically the game isn't supposed to be "Even".

Its A-Symmetrical meaning the killer should at all times, absolutely, without a doubt be a serious risk to be around. With the caveat of that 1 killer having to overcome 4 survivors. You have a full team of people vs 1 person. Its not supposed to be even.

The problem of this simple concept goes in the trash when the devs allow too much power creep on either the killer or survivor side. On top of that, this game has a huge roster. Having 1 killer be too strong is easily fixable because its 1 object 1 ruleset being adjusted. BUT. Having survivors power creep too far doesn't just ruin 1 dynamic, it ruins matches across the board for that huge killer roster forcing you to re-adjust 24+ elements of the game instead of the 1. AKA you end up like Evolve Stage 2. I bring extra emphasis to this game as much as I can because that game didn't have to die, but it did because the developers let the hunters side power creep harder than they could make adjustments to monsters fast enough. So by the time we got to the point where the game went free to play it was already so messy that nobody wanted to play monster anymore. People stopped buying expansions, stopped buying monsters and skins, queue times went up to the moon, more people started quitting, then people stopped buying hunter skins, and it eventually got to the point where the game couldn't keep itself up financially and that was the end of it.

It didn't die because of greed, it didn't die because the concept wasn't attractive to players.....it died because it was developed into death. It killed itself with its own adjustments to "balance" by power creeping itself to death. And eventually lost sight of its original vision. And I bring it up, because this can happen to ANY of these Asymetrical games including DBD....

To be more complete: if NOED was basekit it'd never be a surprise. The most irritating thing about the commonly complained about perks (DS, DH, NOED, et al.) is that there's no warning - you're expected to play around them in mid/high-tier matches even if they aren't in play. NOED also has an easy counter in 'doing bones' which I think would be a nice secondary objective for survivors; a deliberate gamble to just M1 gens, or taking a little time to make sure the bones are down for end-game plays. Learning totem spawns is also just good knowledge to build on map generation.

No more feeling like your time's wasted as a totem hunter, either, which is kinda my biggest point.

I also feel BT or something similar should be basekit, o'course.

Thats a cool idea and all, but something like that would also put other hexes or hex play in general in an even worse spot than what it already is at. Bringing more attention to an objective the killer DOES NOT want people to be focused on just ends up ruining your ability to play with hexes. Since everyone will be either looking for a spot to put their boon totem, or looking for any totems they possibly can to drop noED out of the match.

Gotta be realistic here my man. NoED is a baby killer perk and a perk for people who love end game builds. Thats it. Its not some god tier auto win button. You get 1 chance to take advantage of it, and its a gamble if it even gets a chance to be played with as many boon totems that fly around per match.

The perk right now is fine, if not worse than where it was years ago simply due to the massive amount of attention totems are getting per match anyway. IMO they should have never given survivors more of a reason to touch totems, and had boons exist on their own objectives like generators that are fully repaired or in the process of being repaired. We already have pressure on totems by default cause of hexes, then we got extra pressure cause of boons, now you wanna add more by having noED base kit?!?! Thats too many racoons with their hands in the cookie jar to be viable....

  • @jesterkind said:

I'm going to have to second everyone else saying it here-- NOED only gets any more value than a surprise down if the survivors choose to give it value by lingering in the trial without dealing with it. Hunt for the totem, or leave, those are both very effective counters to NOED.

It's not even a particularly good perk, but I empathise with it being annoying. If it were to be changed, the only change I would support is having it announce itself to the survivors immediately as it spawns, because I agree that getting hit with NOED before you know it's there is frustrating. There are tools to deal with it, but you've got to know to use them, y'know?

It already announces itself as soon as its in play you have a GIANT icon that says EXPOSED!

Like you say, if you stay around in the trial without cleansing the totem you're gonna get worked.

So I was in a match and 3 of my teammates DC when we were going up against Nemesis. I was trying to do a gen and the killer found me and killed me. Now I ask was it fair that I was punished for my 3 mates quitting? I didn't expect to live but I was hoping to get some points. Is this a good thing or a bad thing as I feel I was at a disadvantage right away.

I mean, we could sit there and play tiddly winks farming points with you and basically be bored out of our minds (which if no one is aware, farming points for killer without lots of people to interact with takes a long time.)

Or we can just kill you and get the match over with so you can move on to a more fair match quickly?

I don't think its anything personal, but more like "Alright this match is over with, lets just get this done cause I don't have all day to mess around".

To be fair "The Realm Beyond" is graphical Reworks. It was already a surprise that Ormond received Balance Changes (which is basically, more Pallets, but more unsafe Loops).

In general, as long as Bloodlust exists, shorter Loops but more of them will not work out, to achieve this, Bloodlust needs to go away.

Personally, I would prefer Maps with a small amount of safe Pallets and a huge amount of unsafe Pallets with Bloodlust gone. However, I doubt that this will happen anytime soon. If it will ever happen, because we know from the last experiment that Killers want to keep their Bloodlust and most Survivors are not able to play unsafe Pallets. And as long as those things dont change, I doubt that anything will happen, since they balance for the majority of players, and those are not great at the game.

The only reason bloodlust exists is to make up for the terrible RNG map generation and map tiles. If they removed it, they'd have to also chuck half the map tiles in the trash because they'd end up as infinites.

  • @FellowKillerMain said:

During the third year anniversary livestream, the level design team described how map reworks were going to adjust pallet loops to make them more equitable by making them smaller, but more numerous. However, after springwood was reworked with this in mind... it seems that idea was abandoned, because none of the loops on any of the new maps seem smaller. If anything they seem larger, and more numerous.

The video begins at the conversation referenced above:

    https://youtu.be/JyWcUp8RcSE?t=5122

I worry this interview below is giving me an answer...?

"It's kind of chaotic right now but we're embracing that now. We used to rebel against it and fight back and try to balance everything and make sure that everything works perfectly with everything else and at some point - i think the switch happened probably two years ago or something - we just looked at it and went there's so many characters now. There's so many killers, so many survivors, so many perks that there is no human way [to balance]. Like, maybe some google super ai thing could make sense of it all but for mere humans like us it's just... it's... it's a beautiful waltz of chaos and you have to enjoy it for what it is... and just jump in and get surprised, and get, you know, sort of get lost in the chaos."

    https://youtu.be/mGzXiWbviYg?t=1171

The same thing that happened to fixing Hexes, fixing nurses bugs, fixing pallet vacuums, or not engaging in NFT scams. Theres no legally binding contract to bind them to the truth or any promises, they can lie, fib, raise false hope as much as they want. With the only consequence being lowered player faith.

Nobody would play versus SWF willingly.

And Killers would need adjustments if they were only playing against Solo's

I'd be all about the adjustments to killers to accompany solo queue. Solo queue is what this game was always based around. And its honestly the most respectable survivor players in this game period. Thats why information perks work the way they do. Sure killers like Nurse would make that mode nightmarish....but...she's always needed adjustments. The rest of the killer roster is already primed for play against solo survivors hence why they're so weak and underpowered against SWF teams, because they just weren't made with that kind of power creep in mind. Since they don't perform, you end up with nurse dominating the highest ranks because the only reason most survivors get there is through SWF teaming. AKA BEING BOOSTED!

It would still be better than our current system where balance is basically ignored in favor of appeasing larger crowds of SWF players to generate money on skins. Because for whatever reason, they don't have enough faith in their own art to believe it would sell at the same time as fixing their busted SWF concept.

But like I said at the end....its a dead dream right up there with console optimization.

  • @Pulsar said:

I play Solo Q just fine.

That being said, the balance has always been Solo < Killer < SWF

Solo needs buffs, but you don't HAVE to play SWF.

In a perfect world, there'd be seperate queues and

    Solo would=Killer Ranked match

and SWF would>Killer Unranked Match. SWF would be its own random bullshit. Ah.....the dream....

Just Imagine 2 different killer queues, 2 different survivor queues.

Solo Survivor=Fully ranked and Vetted matches plus the game actually being balanced and patched around solo play making it finally fair for both sides.

SWF+Unpaired= Unranked matches where survivors could power creep as much as they wanted giving devs the liberty to ignore how unbalanced it is. Solo and SWF would be allowed in.

Killer Ranked Matches would only be vs Solo Survivors for all the glory and fame.

Killer Unranked Matches would only be vs SWF+Unpaired survivors and no ranks or MMR.

....The Dream....is probably dead if I'm being honest...sadly...

Dbd, a 5 year old game with the graphics quality of a late PS3 game... Had worse frame rate, more hitching, and more crashes on last gen...

    Than cyberpunk 2077

I've said it before, old PS4 was not some shabby piece of hardware. On top of all that Back 4 Blood is actually a pretty powerful game system specs wise. Matter of fact, Horizon Zero Dawn is even hard for most PC's to run optimally so much so that it was a heavily used benchmark for a while.

But for DBD....even though its in Unreal Engine...I'm not sure that they're using it properly because it runs like trash. They've already come out and said they have limits on how many players and AI can even be on a map at one time.....which is crazy considering how low that number actually is for DBD when other games can run 10 times that amount without breaking a sweat.

I think that boon totems should be nerfed a bit. I have spammed boon totems like crazy lately, but being able to re-bless them infinitely is too much (and as has been mentioned, boon totems on maps like The Game and Midwich are busted). They should be done permently when the killer snuffs them, imo.

As a survivor, the uptick in NOED use has changed the calculus for me a bit, though. I have always been a bit of a totem hunter (I run Detective's Hunch a lot), and when the boon totems came along, I was all over it. But recently I have been having to decide between blessing protecting the late game by taking them off the board via cleansing.

I think letting the killer destroy the totem would add another layer of game play, where the killer then needs to weigh their own hexes into their decision to snuff a totem, but if they choose to, it hurts the survivor team as well.

Honestly....I don't even think Boons should be related to totems at all. They should have had their own object mechanic or been auras. Its like a killer being able to trap item boxes with explosives that insta down survivors.....(although I wouldn't mind something like that) thats not what we have so its not a valid part of the discussion. But I mean if the devs are gonna have chris crossing mechanics why not go all the way....

Did you read my entire post? I explained a lot in there that even as a person who doesn't play killer as much I understand the frustration. I feel the term overpowered is thrown around too much on this forum that's why I'm reluctant to use it. If you read the entire thing you'd see I'm in favour of a change instead of focusing on one aspect.

No I read the entire thing. I'm just saying in this case call it for what it is, its safe to say its OP. As the reasons you listed in a few of those examples was more than enough to call it out for being op. As you said, theres damn 2 perks per boon, killer hexes only have 1. You can reset them infinitely killer hexes can only exist once! ^ That right there is waaaaaaaaaay more than enough to call it what it is....OP...

It isn't like these things can just exist and you can use a better alternative....NO.....these things are THE alternative there are no better options.... Same way you could run an Eboni mori on a killer and just...flat out win....no question....theres no alternative old Eboni Moris were the NAIL in anyone facing thems coffin....PERIOD.

Mettle of man had the same issues, old DS had the same issues, and old Eboni Mori's had the same issues, and the old keys where you could just jump the whole team out of the match by mid game was also OP. These things aren't powerful because they have to make players adjust and change strategies that can throw off your game...no...because if that was the case there'd be no issue, you'd just adjust and counter effectively. You got the new DS right, you got Borrowed time...these perks don't have issues. You run them, the killer has to then go...ok #########...that guy has BT, after this hook save, I gotta swap targets <---This doesn't hurt the killer it just forces them to be snappy and focus and swap targets....if they can't do that then they lose. Current BT and DS aren't the same as boons. When you could bring old DS, old mettle of man, old eboni moris you effectively brought in a trump card that says F all game mechanics I win by default....you can't adjust, and if you do adjust you lose... So if you actually do play and strat against old DS, old MM, old Eboni Moris you're ######### cause even after you adjust you still lose..imagine that for a second. After countering something....YOU STILL LOSE?!?! <--then ######### was the point of the counter what was the point of adjusting your playstyle? Oh killer has an eboni mori I've been hooked once, next time I go down I'm dead....well....I may as well play safe and stay out of chases, but you can't hide forever cause someone needs to save the next person off the hook, so if you do that you're either going to die or the next person is going to die, so no matter how you twisted it by playing effectively YOU STILL LOSE!!!

Now I know people throw around overpowered a lot on these forums but that shouldn't take away from what it actually means. A lot of stuff gets called op when it clearly isn't. This isn't one of those instances where people are overreacting. This is as legit as mettle of man, old DS, Eboni Moris, and keys.

You didn't give evidence either, and you used awful examples to compare to boons, showing you really just don't understand how they work. You saying "Well me no like, me playing bad now 😡" was evidence that I not only consulted, but I gave a response and answer to.

It isn't a superiority complex. Just like me saying you probably make excuses for losses in-game, you are now making excuses for a discussion. I have only stated things that happen in-game and the solution of being able to pressure good and make use of the time wasted from boons as it is a great amount.

Since you count just saying how it has been going as "evidence" then fine.

Since the new patch has dropped, I decided to play mainly ghostface, a killer that besides the occasional instadown, is an m1 killer that relies on hit and run, a playstyle that said CoH should gut. It does really hurt the playstyle, but not horribly. My build consisted of Thrill, Lethal, Pop, and BBQ. Thrill is a great new perk for making blessing take longer.

I have yet to feel the need to think "wow, boons are op, im losing so much to it!" I have lost a handful of matches due to me playing fairly bad, but other than that, it hasnt super affected me. I saw Boon: shadowstep in about 3/4ths of my matches, and I only got confused by it twice on Coldwind, the same match. Circle of healing is really threatening and it was in about 90% of my matches, but everytime I heard the thunder, that meant one less survivor was working on a gen.

Overall, being able to track footstep sounds, blood that isn't hidden by shadowstep, and breathing if they didn't have iron will made shadowstep nearly a wasted perk slot. For circle of healing it was definitely effective, but I could keep track of gens better as kicking the boon took almost no time from me, and took survivors a good amount of time to keep resetting. It is a strong perk and it makes me happy to see something new in the game besides the same build every time, but there was never nothing I could do about it. Compared to my matches last patch, these new matches on average lasted about 2 minutes longer as well, really nice to see.

Good enough adult talk for you?

Dude you're playing ghostface....of course boons are going to have a lesser effect on you you insta down people and are immune to half of their effects.....######### even...on top of that you don't even run hexes. You're not even playing the same game as most killers on the roster.

I can't say I a fan of them either. I don't play killer much but just doing it a little bit the other day showed me how boons make the game quite frustrating.

If you've got 3 people using the boons (which I have run into) it makes keeping them in check impossible. if all 4 players are using boons forget it.

Sure the boons don't stack, apparently but with 3 or 4 players able to set up 4 separate boons in different spots on the map. good luck.

Yes Killers cam rum a build entirely made out of hexes if they want where survivors only have the 2 boons it's still more powerful on the survivor side.

    • killers get one totem per hex that set at random throughout the map. once they're destroyed they're gone for good.
    • survivors can place a boon on any totem they find and can do it over and over again if they need too.
    • hexes do one thing per hex.
    • as others have said, the 2 boons do 4 things total and are active at the same time in up to 4 places if all players are using them.
    • for cleansing and or blessing a totem survivors get points for doing so.
    • for snuffing out boon totems killers get nothing but wasted time and a stomp animation.

So yes they are very powerful I wouldn't say OP. but I feel that there should be a consequence for killers finding and snuffing a boon totem that isn't just "Oh just set it up again." Killers can't reset hex totems. Undying is a hex in itself and it got nerfed to only work once.

This is coming from someone who plays far more survivor then killer

They are op though. They were busted on PTB, and they're still busted now. Theres no need to inhale copium...take it at face value....its op as #########.

It’s really not brain dead because a survivor has to go out of their way to find the totem and then bless it. It requires set up preparation, it’s not just “bless a random boon totem and profit” like you say it is.

Except it is? Dull totems are everywhere and survivors have perks to find every single one on the map via aura reading. You don't have to know what you're doing theres perks that do it for you....Theres no set up....you just do it, and 99% of the time the killer won't have enough time to react to it or bother dealing with the totems because they're too busy engaging in chases.

I played 4 games after months long break from dbd. Seeing killer nerfed over and over while survivors get more and more buffs (built to last, boon totems, among many other things)i didnt really want to play much. I decided hell its halloween lets play some. i lasted 4 games of non stop toxic teabagging macro users before i remembered why i this game has such a bad rap. Devs encourage toxic behavior, (see the movement animation update announcement). I don't mind getting 1 or 2 or even 0 kills i mind having people use macros that are literally there to just annoy the killer and have no other purpose. people like pug and matt on stream being some of the most toxic people you can be ( no i dont have pug i hate his hypocrisy of HAHAHAH ITS SO FUNNY unless its happening to me) this game has the potential to be great but the devs only care about money and not about fun. there is a reason that on halloween dbd is down to 43k viewers on twitch. many of the largest streamers either have switched games or just stopped all together. This community is a huge reason why a lot of people i know have left. I was told years ago when i started playing that to be a killer main you have to have thick skin, but it shouldnt be that way. Are there toxic killers 100% yes and thats also part of the problem. we have to be better as a community. there are great people in this game (im looking at you pig mains who let us boop) but this is worse than even league of legends. When i can honestly say the community is worse than leagues you should realize there is an issue.

end of rant. BHVR I love this game, please stop trying to kill it.

Playing fair isn't profitable anymore. I used to be in that killer camp as well. No camp, no tunnel, sure, running my games as you would if you knew you were the power role and avoiding scummy things that could be abused while in that role. But over time that ######### just doesn't work anymore. The game isn't set up in a way that allows you to not be scummy. You simply don't have the liberty or the time to play nice. No time for the boops, no time for the boons, no time for any of it. And this is coming from a pig main who's literal gimmick is STALLING FOR TIME! So if the master of stall doesn't have time, the rest of the killer roster has to be absolutely ######### morbid in comparison....

People aren't bad by default, they aren't born toxic.....the environment and their influences make them that way.

A video game community is no different. If a game influences you to be scummy, you're more likely to be scummy.

Boons are insane, ngl. It kinda unbearable to play killer right now. Only way to put pressure by injuring multiple survivors is no longer a good option.

Playing survivor is so chill and easy, if you have a semi decent team. And playing Killer is such a chore. You cant relax at all. If you do try to fairplay (no tunneling, no camping) All gens will be done way too early, without giving you time for more cool chases. I dont like playing like a scumbag, with tunneling, camping, slugging. I also dont like using Gen slowdown perks, because it limits build variety, forcing you to waste your fun perk slots just to prevent all gens being done in less than 5 minutes.

Time for them change general dbd gameplay. To lessen up the stress from both sides.

Its been like this for ages dude, BHVR doesn't listen. Boon totems only made an already tight situation even worse. Then they had the nerve to go in on the question about "Feeling required to run a perk" as if that wasn't the case already. Turns into a Either run this perk and possibly win, or don't run this perk and your chances of losing skyrocket to 100%. They put all their eggs into this perk system to balance the game without considering the sheer power creep on survivor end. Its actually insane. Its like they come up with an idea....and then forget that the rest of the game exists so maybe that new idea should be balanced so that the stuff that already exists doesn't shoot the new idea into the realm of broken. But no, we keep ending up with these goofy ass Mettle of Man style perk takes, and nothing to veer the game back on course.

Making mistakes like that is sad the first time, but repeatedly? It just gets cringe....

Good thing VHS won't have these problems. Right?

I have my doubts. Evolve 2 did the same thing. This game does the same thing, and I wouldn't be surprised if VHS ends up down the same path as well. Basically making the game easier overall for their largest microtransaction buyers to encourage more sales. Kind of an EA move but eh.....

  • @ShakeyGames said:

Play a little more survivor perhaps? Because boon totems are OP (according to you), maybe you'd have more fun matches that way. Survivor is very fun when you're good at it, much better than killer.

Remember that boon totems aren't map wide, they have a 24m radius. Just leave the totem and go find another survivor to chase somewhere else. Blessing a totem takes 20 seconds, healing takes 16 seconds, that's 36 seconds the survivor isn't doing their main objective. And in this game that's more than enough time for you to pressure gens.

Yes this......the obvious solution is to play whats busted at the moment to cheese wins. Cause thats what DBD has become....if everyone quits killer the devs can finally impliment AI killers across all matches turning this into the borefest survivors have always wanted....

I've been a killer main for about 4 years and this last update was one of the best ones. If you think they are laughing at killers then THAT is laughable. I now literally never have to worry about keys again. Trapper is EXPONENTIALLY better. Spirit actually feels fairer. Ghostface doesn't desperately need two cooldown addons anymore, actually, the whole cast now can see what their addons actually do. Pig also got better addons, and once again 3 man hatch escapes can't happen. Deathslinger nerf was more than earned. Not saying he didn't also need a buff, he most definitely needed a buff to go alongside the nerf, but the nerf was most definitely needed and it didn't destroy him, he can still win chases.

Pigs changes only buffed her dash play slightly and nerfed everything else. Her skill check add ons don't even work with perks for synergy anymore. And she can't gimmick hexes for interesting play anymore since the introduction of boon totems.

Her add on pass was not a unanimous buff. It was a nerf to her 4v1 and a largely ignorable pass on her unsafe pallet dash....thats it....

I'm not laughing....the amount of copium people ingest while discussing the recent patch makes everything completely unfunny.

This last patch was basically a Korean MMO Dev patch. 1 step forward and 2 steps back. AKA "We're gonna buff X! But, we're also gonna nerf Y and Z and buff the thing that counters X completely negating the fact that X was changed in any way...."

    You hate to see it...

They are doing the best for their game, listening to their fanbase and taking an action to make them satisfied. and their game is around for 3 years or so.

I'm not in DBD since it released but since I'm around here, i hear and i see for myself and every single day there is an issue that yet is not being fixed.

I have a bug that people get since 2018 (!) i experience small bugs in the lobby and sometimes during the game that makes me angry. It's not fun and unprofessional when the game has been out for almost 6 years.

Nurse has had....(or honestly might still have) a teleport bug where you basically get stuck and can't blink a second time, whole sound triggers repeatedly while you try to move. The damn bugs been around for years......YEARS.....YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS!!!

Let that sink in. Not like....Oh man this new bug appeared last month and after long grueling hours we finally got it patched up NO...

YEAAAAARS! CD Project Red has a faster bug fix time than this game and cyberpunk released on the scale of resembling a 5 year old mashing a brick into keyboard overwriting someones code base.... Someone make this make sense...

You guys need to realize that the dev team only consists of around 800 people. You may think that’s a lot but if you look at other companies its very small. Activison has 10,000 developers and Blizzard has just under 5,000 working on the hearthstone properties alone.

I think we need to think about this, if there are let’s say, 50 main problems and 80 bugs for each platform and there are only 800 devs they can hardly split up people to work on each issue. So let’s just be patient and let them fix the issues.

btw im not talking about bhvr as a whole Im talking about just the dev team that actually cares about their game.

FF14 has a team size similar to BHVR and pump out updates with at least 1000 times the amount of content this game gets. Grinding Gear Games has a team thats a fraction of both of those games size and comes out with a full leagues worth of content every 3 months.

Size only matters so far for game design. Excuses don't make greatness.

  • Nobody is forcing you to try to win OP. In fact a lot of survivors would prefer it if you tried to lose on purpose and run no regression or gen defense perks at all.

    Just lose the game.

    Because it actually is?

If you do it right and either get around 2nd chance perks or the Survivor team is light on them, it'll basically win you the game. What you're talking about with 4 gens popping isn't tunneling, its overcommitting. Regardless, a successful tunnel represents a 25% slowdown to everything the Survivors are wanting to do because they lost 25% of their team.

50% because of the guy constantly going up to unhook.

Just had a miserable match trying out Michael's T2 wall hack addon and got creamed because the new boon totem blocks auras. I was completely thrown off by my gameplan not working and had no idea what to do.

What is the best way to go about the totems? Only look for them when you know for certain where they are, or dedicate some time to look for them?

Maybe I should play some more and adapt, but personally I think it's a bit much that ALL survivors benefit from one person blessing a totem. It means the time sacrificed is no where nearly as harsh since its still 3/4 survivors able to work on gens normally with the bonus of the Boon.

The best way to go about them? You don't.....

The only logical perk counter to them is nerfed and does nothing. I would suggest playing something else or farming BP on survivor until things settle down. Or....you could play nurse.

There is also glitches in the game now i got my friend off the hook and for some reason he was still hooked? and then he fell to floor and got back up like idk whats going on with this update but they need a hotfix asap,

You didn't get the memo? This was the last patch for most killers. Boon totems on PTB was more than enough abuse regardless of whatever minor buffs came to pig and plague. SBMM still in shambles, balance still ass, and the NFT debacle. This patch just deleted killer hexes.

You'd have to pay me to play this bullshit right now.

Content creators are just working a job. You can't blame them for working their job, its how they pay their bills and put food on their table. If the well dries up and they lose money they won't stop working, they'll just move on to something profitable. If the place they're working at has a moral conflict involved, they'll usually forgo the moral conflict if they can afford it. If they can't afford it, they'll just be back to their job like you said making commentary about boon totems....

Are you comparing Covid with the outrage of the dbd community? really?

Im saying, regardless of your own personal hope, its out of any of our hands because we can only control ourselves. We can't change how people feel or what people will do because of how they feel. If they wanna quit, they'll quit. If they wanna continue, they'll continue. But ultimately its out of BHVRs hands as well. Whats done is done. Theres no putting the genie back in the bottle. They could make apology statements to die down the fire, but thats about it. They can't delete the NFTs they helped create nor go back in time and re-do what they did.

They made their choice, got exposed, and burned because of it.

Steam is taking a hard stance on it purely because they don't want to be associated with the idea of NFTs.

Which is curiously, something Epic is taking an opposite stance on. And they seem to be having connections to each other.

Epic imo is just not taking a stance against it for fluff. They want more games on their platform, and their main competitor is steam, they don't have the luxury to shoo titles off the platform other than adult games. That being said, the actual blockchain and NFT titles that are out aren't throwing their titles on Epic as a first choice because quite honestly, no one would even bother picking them up when the competition on epics platform itself between games is a AAA battleground. B-listers need not even apply.

  • @deckyr said:

    honestly, like.

the stranger things license ending is just, frankly, ridiculous. NFTs are completely intolerable for anyone who cares about the environment. (this is not an NFT debate thread).

does bhvr think we really just hate the original content that much? last i checked, we love the original killers & survivors. most of my games are against original killers.

like, wow... it's pinhead, from, that one movie. cool. do we care more about it being That Guy from That Thing than we care about the actual gameplay of the character? am i just missing the vibe?

is Mikaela just dead on arrival because she's not from something else? or is she dead on arrival because of this NFT garbage? my bet is on the latter, for what it's worth.

maybe instead of bending over backwards and sacrificing the integrity of the game to get random pulls from random movies, you could just make the same mechanics using original characters until someone gives you a contract worth signing.

because honestly, stranger things being time-limited and pinhead requiring NFTs? i wouldn't have signed either of those.

As righteous as it would sound to say I came here for trapper and his goofy Jason rip off mask. I'd be lying.

Not even gonna hold you, I came here cause of Myers, Pig, and the rest of the classic movie gang. Theres no other game worth its salt in it that highlights those licenses. And to be frank, the SAW franchise games were pretty trash and made you play the role of the survivor in that movie....which honestly is the most uninteresting aspect of the SAW franchise. Had those games let you set up people in traps and run around kidnapping folks, it'd be a different discussion. But the sheer lack of games that allow you to be the bad guy in such a way is very few and far between. And the most successful game in that genre got shut down AKA Evolve Stage 2.

Other than that, I couldn't possibly look at any of these original killers without immediately thinking of their real movie counterparts. Trapper and his Jason/Friday the 13th spin. Hag and her Blair Witch flair. Nurse and her mini homage to Silent Hill. Hillbilly and his chainsaw vibe thats basically a knock off Leatherface Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Trickster and his whole Suicide Circle villain vibe. Without those licensed characters being held up by their content outside of the game I doubt many people would even look at this game with the same amount of excitement. The power of film is nothing to be shortchanged.

Now if BHVR was the type of studio to bring out original killers but then at the same time bring out Indy films with those same characters....totally different story. But again, lore carries weight when portrayed in film.

  • So uhhh, that apology video is gonna be rough huh? Just to give you guys a tip @BHVR and @dev You can easily fix and apologize for a bad game....but bad business decisions are in another world. Good luck fixing this. Also good luck and hope any of those license holders from the other films don't flip their ######### over this for the sake of their image...

Is it the ClickyBoi fan club running Head On, Deception, Dance With Me combo suites on The Game?

Personally, there's only one thing I truly fear: the Cheryl wild-card. You never know if she's good or bad until that first pallet, but a good Cheryl is worth 5 DS hits.

My fear is the state of hexes moving forward and general "know everything" state of information in this game as a survivor.
