  • Can the devs explain why the game has not shifted to the more obvious objective of hooks for the killer? This would ensure more interactive game play for survivor and killer. Especially if there was a marginal depreciation for 1 or 2 hooking someone because you didn't get all 3 hooks. @Peanits this would give killers incentive to leave hooks and go for more hooks.

  • God this crud again? Look I will break it down easy for you. In open area try to keep them guessing on distance. Too far she goes past you too close she can't hit you. In loops break Los it's not difficult. Nurse is the truest expression of skill in the game. For those that say well go 1v1 a nurse...LISTEN HEFE. DINGUS. The game is 4v1 not 1v1. That's sure if all other survivors were not able to do anything while one is being chased I got you. But that's not the case. Your job is to buy enough time for your team to do work. If you can't than you need to practice and DC VS nurse is the opposite way to do that.

  • This game will never be "balanced" until the Dev team realizes that hooks matter more than kills. Once that happens camping and tunneling will be far less attractive and the community as a whole will have a better and more enjoyable time playing. But no, remember it's a hockey game......

  • one big point here, is DBD is a live service game. that means they know they will be adding stuff to the game contently. they should have ensured that owners of this would be still able to maintain it. the game should have been attached to a profile and enable them to continue using it no matter what platform they are on. its not hard concept especially with cross progression.

  • im not here to farm im here to play as "killer" if one dc's im gonna end this game as fast as possible so i can get into a "good" game. just go stand in front of the hook and ill put you up really fast and get us all able to move on with our day.

  • so basically they are saying "sucks to sucks thanks for the buck"

Thing is ruin undying was still very strong after its nerf. Mettle of man was completely destroyed (not that I’m complaining just an observation)

Built to last is far from meta. It makes medkits better but all other items aren’t strong enough to warrant using when you take into account time spent in lockers.

My point here isn’t that the old perks should stay the same. All but 2 of those perks mention are really old. My point is that new survivor perk releases have been terrible hence why nobody even now of all times is using them

and what strong perks in the category of what i listed on survivor side have been released on killer side? name one perk that has been released that has been on the power scale of MoM or CoH?

  • this post is crazy, let me count the busted survivor perks just since ive played. DS 5 seconds stun added due to endurance, endurance then changed to no longer work on DS but DS not reverted. Metal of man a perk SO busted that devs only took like 3 months to nerf it. Dead hard, stays the same for years. COH after multiple nerfs still a really strong and very viable perk. boil over a perk so strong THEY HAVE TO CHANGE MAPS built to last can take those toolboxs that got changes and refill them multiple times iron will a perk that was changed TO COUNTER ITS COUNTER PERK, object of obsession RUINED TOURNEMENT PLAY COMPLETELY .

strong killer perks just got added. we had Ruin undying and that got changed quick to be able to be completely gone in 2 minutes and it took 2 perk slots. there isnt a single perk every released that changes the game on the scale any one of those does on killer side. the closes was pain resonance i mean the closest now is overcharge but you just have to tap the gen to stop it from being full power.

this isnt even count other perks like sprint burst, spine chill, borrowed time, unbreakable, overcome. which are all strong perks but not as strong as those are. gee wilikers sure looks like killer perks are just so op

  • I always thought it should show the aura of crows red means gone then lightens to yellow then White based on respawn time. With them flying up to show you. In a larger range as well. If this was the case it would be a viable pick.

  • do survivors not understand that nurse is the prime example of skill vs skill in this game? if you are better than the nurse you can beat her in a dead zone. any other killer will just run you down.

  • oooo change the name of the perk BBQ and chillie since its only 1 thing now and have that as a buff for say your first 2 prestige's on both killer and survivor side.

  • nurse is the ULTIMATE example of skill matchup in this game. period end of story. its not about perks or map knowledge or map layout its 100% skill. she has a charge time to go a distance understanding what that distance is is very important. also line of sight blocking. nurse is the ONLY killer that you can win against in a dead zone. shes also the only killer that can beat a god pallet. its a trade off. survivors are not used to having to take time to learn something because its been so easy for so long. I love going against the nurse and love the dedication it takes to grind and increase in skill as her. you think shes broken go play her, how many you get? especially if you are brand new to her. let alone on maps like silent hill or RPD where an inch on your screen is the difference between 2nd floor and 3rd floor or basement. keep in mind I am a freddy main and suck at nurse but i love going against her because its a challenge and if the nurse is new I will actively stay in chase to give them practice.

  • @soulfire22 said:

its just super classic, starstruck nurses running around left and right, im a god gamer im a god gamer. egotistical, massive attitude. and they're just everywhere now.

win so many matches and expect to run into constant nurse mains bming and flinging their toxic playstyle all over the map with impossible outplay, walls, doesnt matter, pallets, useless. flashlight who cares.

soloq is already hell the perk update will make soloq even worse, and nurse isnt changed at all, i love it.

idc what anyone says nurse is a literal SSS tier killer rn and is unbearable to play against. the minute i hear that screech im out.

See you on the other side.

The part that you leave when you hear the first screech means you don't have practice going against her. That's why you can't beat her. She is the Only killer that if you are better than her you can escape her in a dead zone. She's also the only killer you would have issues in with a godpallet. It's a trade off take her where she is weaker, break line of sight or learn how long she takes to charge how far. She is a complete skill match up and literally the most balanced killer in the game because of it.

  • Give Freddy some worthwhile addons

  • @MandyTalk I think this is something the community should discuss. What about your opinion?

  • most of you wont remember but DS was buffed to compensate for enduring. then when they "changed" enduring they never changed DS back. so this is back to the standard 3 seconds stun that was around before enduring was changed.

  • heres my view, i dont camp until you clicky clicky or do something i call a pick me. so you want me to focus you well all your friends can get out but im bleeding you on the floor.

Post blink nurse too - it's shorter than normal though

oh, you're right i forgot about that one.

  • FOR THOSE IN THE BACK!!! every killer except for a few exceptions i.e. post decloak wraith, t3 myers and maybe after phase spirit? the rest all have the same.

  • @MandyTalk can we kill this thread for all the politics? dunno if thats a thing.

  • as killer man i can tell you that once you start clicking no one else in the match exists. I will bleed you on the ground. My reasoning? you obviously wanted my full attention.

  • Im a killer main and most the killers i knew have quit the game. i was actually the last as I havnt played since boons were out a month.

These words will haunt me in my dreams from now on, thank you

This. "Secondary objective" doesn't include putting in a frontload of 14 seconds to then streamline the game and save way more time than that afterwards through sheer efficiency and self-sufficiency.

I 100% agree and i say CoH is busted. even post nerf. I bet you tried to quote the guy i qutoed and the quote thing messed up @MandyTalk is therre something that can be done about that happening?

If a survivor goes to look for another survivor, then that's a survivor throwing the game. You either get healed at a hook or you get healed at a gen. With a boon totem, you have to go to the location of the boon totem which takes time. You can't ignore that time.

CoH is a good perk but it has to be a good perk, because it's also a secondary objective. If you nerf it to much, survivors will ignore CoH and suddenly secondary objectives are gone. Look at chests, they're so bad now that no one does them.

Killers complain about gen times, but when the developers try to fix them by introducing secondary objectives, killers flip out. I guess you expect survivors to setup boon totems that do nothing.

secondary objectives should delay survivors not allow survivors to undo the work of a killer with little or no downside.

  • im thinking they will allow DH at any time. (to bring it in line with other exhaustion)

  • To me the biggest Middle finger to killers is the fact that they have now admitted to balancing killers for high level play but insist on balancing survivors for low-lowermiddle levesl of play. So at the high end survivors are stronger but killers are getting nerfed to be weaker at high ends of skill. so BHVR which is it? are you going to balance the game for High end or low end and please keep it the same across the board.

  • nah,for me its his dismissiveness that does it in for me, he is smug and arrogant and dismisses any real concerns. at least thats just how he presents it. he could be meaning a different thing entirely but his tone makes it seem a certain way to most people.

  • @Munqaxus said:

I think people are intentionally forgetting the 14 second blessing time of a totem and the amount of time to either find a totem or move to a totems area of effect (Which is probably around ~8ish Seconds with small game, much higher without small game).

    New CoH - 1st Heal

    1. 8 Seconds to find a totem
    2. 22 Seconds = (8) + 14 blessing time of totem
    3. 40 Seconds = (22) + 18 healing time

    New CoH - 2nd Heal

    1. 48 Seconds = (40) + 8 Seconds to Find Totem
    2. 66 Seconds = (48) + 18 Seconds Healing Time
    3. 33 Seconds = 66 / 2 Heals

New CoH - 3nd Heal (Break even point with Self Care)

    1. 74 Seconds = (66) + 8 Seconds to Find totem
    2. 92 Seconds = (74) + 18 Seconds Healing Time
    3. 31 Seconds = 92 / 3 Heals

As you can see. CoH isn't that great, unless you get at least 3 heals off of it before the killer breaks it. Otherwise Self-Care outperforms it.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OK now thats done, lets add in the 2nd survivor. how many times do you think a boon totem gets used by multiple survivors before its clensed by killer. and the 8 seconds to find a totem is irrelevant when you have the only other option being finding a survivor. but lets play your little math game. ok it takes 32 seconds with self care to heal. so thats thats 8 seconds to find a totem +14 seconds to bless so we are up to 22 seconds and 16 seconds to heal so 38 seconds that means its 6 seconds longer to bless and heal yourself. now you have given your entire team a glowing indicator of where they can go to heal themselves. so lets say another survivor does the same. now you have except they dont have any healing of any kind so now they get a free health state when they would have had to find a survivor 8 seconds and taking 2 survivors out for 16 seconds so thats 40 seconds of survivor time vs 24 seconds. now this happens ususally multiple times.

see it is only the very first placement and use of the totem that makes self care better, after tthat COH is better in every way. 1. it can be used by everyone giving a total of 18/16 perks and it heals faster than any other perk except for we will make it. but can be used over and over especially if you place it in the corner away from gens. do you know how many hits ive taken for someone being chased and then just walked over to the boon and heal up really fast and do the same?my friends and i would have 2 people healing and taking hits 1 person in chase and 1 person doing gens. literally nothing a killer could do cause if he stopped to take the boon away we would just ignite it again somewhere else.

  • so it seems like if they are nerfing twins cause high level twins have a high kill rate that means they are trying to balance killers for high skill game play but not survivors....... awesome

Heyo, opening this up for feedback and adding some context: The reason why we end up with a lot of "Soon" answers is because we take the most upvoted questions. In the past, we've cut questions that we aren't able to definitively answer, but we received a lot of complaints about skipping and dodging questions. Of course, like you've mentioned, some things either aren't planned or aren't slated to be released any time soon.

Our POV is that even if we aren't able to give the most satisfying answer, it's better to acknowledge the things people want us to talk about most than stay silent on them.

Genuinely, if you (or anyone else) have any suggestions for how this could be done better, please let us know. I'd be happy to change the way we do things for next time, but it's a tricky situation since there's a balance between taking the questions people want to know the answers to and picking the questions we're able to answer to.

if someone else said it, do this instead. pick answer you can answer on stream but at some point in the QA have a section were you go here are the most upvoted questions we cant answer at this point but will be able to in the future...... and then list off the questions in a video or a pdf that pops up.

CoHs issue is letting any Joe Blow self heal.

I couldn't care less about the number changes

if they nerfed noed by making the killer wait 4 seconds from activation to being able to down someone would that make it a good nerf?

  • so let me get this right? you want to nerf the 1 killer who can go against top tier players and get a reliable 2k but only if you have a good amount of skill with that killer???? how cushy do you want survivor to be?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

These are just Steam PC numbers, first. Second, overall the game is up over last year and way up over 2020. Yes, there was a huge bump for the RE chapter and they didn't retain many players from that by the looks of it. The new player experience/grind is pretty terrible. That's not new news.

this is 1100 more than june of 2020 currently avg players, 1100 in 18 months is not a steady growth especially with all the events and such. the survivor queues are going up and even twitch streamers are leaving this game in droves. they have made killer super stressful and survivor too easy. there is a reason why the streamers that do play will say things like " im just going to relax and chill with chat and play survivor." honestly this game is a train headed to the end of the line and unless they change the path they are on it will go the way of death garden.

  • Imo all boons should have a token count of 2 meaning it can be activated twice then its gone. This plays into the risk reward aspect of totem perks

  • @Moonman157 said:

can someone tell me how the hell can two opposing sides both play 100% perfectly?

When ones goal is to escape and the others is to kill. When it's both goal to kill someone has to make a mistake

  • That's the thing a game should be balanced with high skill in mind on both sides. This one is not.

You should probably rephrase your question to clarify catching them in a timeframe that makes it worth it. Technically, if you had infinite time (eg, no one else was doing generators at all), you could go through every single resource in the entire map till you eventually catch up. Realistically, against a very good team, spending over 30s to down a healthy player is a net time loss and thus a lost chase normally even if you down them cause too much time spent.

That's true, I do need to rephrase that to include in a time that is less than the survivors with boons and all the fun stuff need to get out.

  • So please explain a situation where the killer can catch a survivor with no mistakes in either side. Remember running into a dead zone counts as a mistake.

  • @Advorsus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2742073#Comment_2742073

That's actually not true. A recent tournament showed that... Highest level survivors and killers, all SWFs, both sides allowed to bring whatever they want. And it was actually 50/50 most of the time with killers doing surprisingly well. Even some B and C tier killers like wraith and Reworked gunslinger doing surprisingly well.

So I mean, the evidence is kinda there

please show a competition that had everytrhing allowed and killers are getting 3k+ I would love to see the vods for that.

but again. im betting mistakes were made on both sides. but if played perfectly the killer will never be able to catch the survivor because in the end killer relies on survivor to make mistakes. not the other way around.

  • great nurse players but above all, pigs that let you boop the snoot.

Don't forget about Inner Healing. Both needs a totem to work, but one of them works only for you and once per totem...

valid i forgot about that. that and that used to be a A tier perk. to think an A tier perk gets knocked down to useless because of how strong CoH is

  • except 1 big difference and how you can tell ANY game is one sided or not. if both play perfectly and i mean 100% perfectly which side wins more. thats survivor if the killer and survivor play 100% perfectly the game goes to the survivor 9/10 times

  • heres the thing. if perk A makes perk B useless because it does the same thing but better. why would anyone ever use perk B. as in Why would you ever use Self care when you have COH? if you set up a totem and heal its still faster than self care let alone giving the whole team the ability to self care and 2x the speed as well. so 1 of 2 things is going to happen CoH will be nerfed or Selfcare will be buffed. neither is desirable for killer side or survivor side. ever wonder why killers tunnel and camp you out of the game? cause there is a good chance if i hit you and let you go you will just heal up. so the most effective way is to tunnel you until you are dead and move on.

I am telling you to actual try to learn, my dude. Your attitude right now tells me you just want to be good without actually trying.

Use the brown addon that shows you where your blink will be and just play. Don't worry about winning or losing, focus on learning. That's it. Nothing else. The only reason losing is a problem is because you are taking it as a problem. You're brand new to something, stop expecting to be a master instantly, and understand that you're going to make mistakes and you need to learn from them.

in the words of solarus, git gud sunbro.

  • in regards to windows let me just put it this way. I used to work at a gas station and saw a customer smack someone in the face over the counter. keep in mind the counter was about 2.5 feet deep a window is what? 6 inches deep? we will take the freddy for example cause he is among the shortest. if freddy has an arm length of 2.5 feet and hand length of 8 inches which i feel would be fair and average for someone his height. and you add in his claws of 6 inches that means from tip of fingers claws to his arm pit would be 3.6 feet long so take away the 6 inches of window and you have 3 feet of distance past the window that he can smack you. you have to be a good distance from the window to not get hit. just vaulting it wouldnt do the job

I agree it does not mean he is bad, but it does imply he did the challenge with an agenda to make it appear harder to win. Every other person that has done it played to win. For the past month tru3 has been playing to win, even using NOED to his dismay, so why would he randomly switch back to playing nice for a challenge in which you are supposed to prove you can win?

I feel like if you go into that kind of challenge with a markedly different attitude than the rest it kind of muddied your results.

right but tru3 on principle doesnt like tunneling and camping and has preached for years the game should be balanced around hooks, so he played as such. also 90%+ of the time he is playing killer he is playing fan builds. I watch him nearly every day and have yet to see him ( other than an odd one off theory crafting build) play a build which he picked that included noed

  • its really sad how otz himself says that tru3's numbers are low because he didnt play scummy, but everyone is attacking tru3 on thread. its like bro he played nice and got punished for playing nice. doesnt mean hes bad, just means hes not playing like a jerk.
