Are you really shocked you haven't seen a nurse get lightburned before? You gave up playing her before you got good enough to see anyone flashlight her and when you play against her you don't lightburn her.

    Lightburning nurse must not exist.

The only time you can realisticly burn a Nurse is when she is hard tunneling someone else and is going for a long blink on that person. You also have to start the burning right as she starts holding that blink. She can do a semi-short blink to counter the burn in this situation anyway and quickly get away from you.

In any other situation you're giving her a free hit. So it basically never happens.

  • I don't like her for a few reasons:

    • She's a stealthy hit and run killer. I don't like playing against that playstyle but it's manageable at the moment because of CoH.
    • Her passive phasing (never liked it on Spirit either).
    • Her lunges feel like Freddy 2.0 (I know it's just because she's short).
  • The addon just shouldn't exist. Regardless of the strategy OP mentioned. The fact that you can get chased from the start of the game with the only opportunity of escaping via an RNG hatch is just plain dumb (no matter how well you play).

  • I have been running this build for a while now: DH, BT, CoH, DS.

    Reasons:

    • DH - It allows me to be more opportunistic and make bolder plays. Of course, it carries me too when I most need it.
    • BT - To help my teammates when a killer is tunneling. Also VERY useful endgame as it allows for another body block.
    • CoH - Best perk against hit and run killers (wraith, new killer etc). I personally despise the hit and run playstyle of stealth killers, I feel like they get a "free" hit by sneaking up to me (especially on in-door maps). Rinse and repeat until I'm down.
    • DS - Same as BT but for myself. Especially handy when teammates unhook me without BT.

I wish I didn't have to use BT and DS. I unequipped DS earlier today and I got unhooked without BT in front of a camping killer, killer hit me down and instantly put me back on the hook. Not a good feeling. Also a good reminder to myself as to why I use meta perks.

Yes it does get a bit stale and I would quite like to use Aftercare, Any Means Necessary, We'll Make It etc. But when I face killers going full meta and tunneling, it's a reality check.

remember it's their videos that got it killswitched and fixed and not any bug reports submitted or anything we should lick the holy ground they walk on for showing us all how to exploit this !!

Yea I cringed pretty hard at Twitter today after reading some posts suggesting it was the content creators/their community that got it fixed so quick (after abusing it!).

  • You either slug the 2nd last survivor and drag out the game unnecessarily (this would cause players like me to yawn and just give up).

Or what I recommend doing if you REALLY need the 4K is to equip Whispers. If you get to the hatch first, close it. Then it's no longer a 50/50 for the exit gates (as you called it). It's basically a guaranteed 4K. Only real chance they have is to find a key for the hatch but you can pinpoint them with Whispers easily enough regardless.

We did not. In fact, we've said the exact opposite: We do not consider it a fix to the grind in the slightest, it's an improvement to grade rewards, nothing else.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2850459#Comment_2850459

I can also confirm that we don't see it as something that encourages people to play more. A certain amount of grinding, sure, it can give you a goal to work towards and keep you interested. But if it becomes too much, then the goal feels unattainable and you lose interest in trying to achieve it.

To the original topic: It's too early to share details now, but we have a massive grind reduction in the works. I'm looking forward to the day we're finally able to share it with everyone.

I wonder if new exclusive prestige rewards will be a thing (to those who prestiged before the grind cut). I'd miss out on them because I haven't prestiged anyone and don't want to lose old offerings and items. But, I wonder if there will be.

  • Was a good feeling when you hit great skill checks and it actually made me really good at doing so, but no.

I love seeing the killer builds from the old Dead By Daylight. They are so different

I went on a phase of playing Nurse with TOTH, Devour Hope, Whispers and Ruin. It was very difficult for them to get gens done because of old Ruin and I could just blink and stop them from cleansing Ruin and DH. They'd mostly ping pong between hexes meaning no gens were being done and I'd win the game from there. There was also nowhere to hide because especially as Nurse with 3 blinks, the survivors could be easily found with Whispers.

I probably stopped using that build with Nurse because it was way too easy if you knew what you were doing.

    steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.jpg steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.jpg steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.jpg

The only real opportunity they had to cleanse Devour Hope was when I was moring another survivor. But even then it was difficult and it was a toss up between TOTH, Ruin and DH anyway.

  • I think you can already rectify your mistake by spamming the drop button, so unless the survivor gets the timing absolutely spot on you can avoid it.

I haven't seen anyone do this in a while (and actually don't wish to so I don't know why I'm writing this comment) but it might still work. It's cheap though.

I got the other farm variations, but don't remember getting cowshed these days

I actually got it shortly after my comment, so it's not disabled.

  • Make sure you have the steam overlay in-game enabled. Go to: Steam > Settings > In-Game and make sure you have "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game" checked.

  • Forgot to add this screenshot too. Edit: Also I kinda didn't read OP correctly so I'll post some more old maps too (didn't let me resize them in this edit btw).

Old art on Macmillan maps were cool (see the wall pic).

  • I really hope the flood of Nurse players stops because I'm really starting to dislike playing against her at this point. Also always seems to be bloodlodge or autohaven against Nurses too...

  • You mentioned cowshed... is that map disabled? Haven't had it for a long long time.

  • I found out yesterday that "ggswp" is also a banned word, or at least for me it is. Some words are banned for some people whilst not banned for others. It's weird.

it was eyerie, i had terrible perks vs 3x COH, it was game over from the start lmfao

gg :) yeah we all had the best perks on too in a full SWF. D:

  • Same I mostly enjoy playing against Nurses and I hate to see content go (rip Demo, Nancy, Steve, Jonathan + Hawkins).

  • She does have counter play, including:

    • Genrushing to the max
    • LOS
    • Hiding
    • Being unpredictable

But let's not ignore that most killer perks are SO much better on Nurse than they are on any other killer. She is the best killer in the game and this only amplifies her power. Examples:

    • A full gen slow down build is REALLY oppressive as Nurse and can quickly lead to what feels like an unstoppable snowball. For example if you can't find the Ruin + Undying in the first 2 minutes, the game's over if she pressures and plays well.
    • Infectious Fright, Agitation + Star Struck combo. It's really oppressive with Nurse.
    • Slugging all game is really oppressive as Nurse, especially with a good build + Infectious Fright.
    • End game perks like NOED (with Infectious Fright), No Way Out and Remember Me could give Nurse a win by slugging everyone, regardless of anything earlier in the game (except cleansing 5 totems which you won't have time to do against a good Nurse).

Another area she's great at is tunneling. If you DS her you're still a blink or 2 away. No one can really body block her in a chase for you like they can do with other killers to distract them. Same with BT, she'll catch up or even down you in a blink.

Also, one of the biggest problems is that matchmaking sucks. Unless you're in a full SWF, you're probably going to have a weak link. If you're facing a really good Nurse, everyone has to play as optimal and coordinated as possible. You don't have time to waste, gens need to be rushed, fast. So facing a really good Nurse in solo queue (with this matchmaking especially) is usually horrific.

  • MMR has an impact but the time of day you play at has a much bigger impact in my experience. If I play from 1-7pm(ish) it's a lot more likely I'll get decent teammates than if I were to play after that point. This is due to factors like longer queues.

So I'd say matchmaking is decent during the day but at night you're likely to play with potato teammates. Interestingly at the same time the chances of a killer player late at night being toxic or bringing the build + map you dislike the most increases a bunch too. And no, I'm not *just* referring to certain streamers you gotta watch out for at these times.

  • Bill wasn't the exception! He brought in BT which was crazy at the time of release:

    image.png

Tier 3 (credit to the wiki):

    image.png

Sure it was only a one time use but the counter to this perk was to insidious camp a hooked survivor (which I may have done to prove a point...). You can imagine what this was like when used 4 times a match or at end game.

  • I'm not sure about your suggestion but I agree that something should be done. If you think back to the days where all killers could literally facecamp with no possibility of a save... well Bubba's facecamping (isn't quite the same thing but) is close enough to warrant a change for the same reasons as to why swivel hooks now exist.

  • It can still happen but the cases where you DEFINITELY shouldn't have been hit when you get the stun have been completely fixed in my experience. Think it's working well .

  • PC (Steam) with crossplay on.

  • @Pulsar said:

There's no argument for keeping it.

It has no in-game application that is affected if we put a limit on how many times you can click a flashlight in a single second.

The only major implication I can think of is that survivors may no longer be able to readjust their flashlight timing for a flash save. As in, stop the flash for a millisecond and then flash again to correct the timing.

But... if BHVR implements a good system that situation should still be doable.

  • Maybe once every month or so? But that's still too much! The one game I put DS off to do the Stake Out challenge I got tunneld out the game *sigh* by a spirit with teammates that also didn't have BT.

I like her nerf because it gives her more counterplay but I'll still never like playing against her, especially since I don't use Iron Will.

  • @Tiufal said:

So what would be the point to run BT if you cant prevent instant hook trades anymore?

That's the problem, if unhooked survivors with BT have no collision it would really cut down on any save attempts because you'd just be trading anyway.

Currently, yes killers can still trade even if you unhook with BT. But with this change it'd basically be guaranteeing a trade in many situations.

  • Rancor. I hate the feeling that no matter how well I play, the killer will always have the possibility of insta killing me no matter how poorly they play. Especially in solo queue when your teammates don't realize you are Rancor and pop the last gen before you can hide in a locker for example.

    It's really cheap.

    Ah nostalgia:

Old DS, even older DS, old Object of Obsession, old Ruin, old Undyling, old Balanced Landing, old keys, old Moris, old Windows of Opportunity, Trapper having one trap, Old Legion, games versus Hillbilly lasting less than two minutes, Forever Freddy, old Spirit, fewer killers.

    They were the days.

Forever Freddy... that's something I haven't heard in a while. That is a scary thought... instantly reminds me of end game Freddy's with NOED + Remember Me. You can only imagine that with No Way Out. Freddy could always see your aura almost no matter what (if everyone was in the dream state). Oh and they used to slug in that scenario and go from one survivor to the next... ugh. Not a nice thought.

Oh and Freddy with old Dying Light and old mori... I need to stop thinking about it now.

  • After 5 years, it seems a bit dramatic to quit the game after 2 bad games.

Also you shouldn't DC especially when being facecamped. You're giving the killer what they want and it gives them an easy win.

  • Any/all L4D/L4D2 characters. Louis and Ellis would be funny to have though

Sad that most survivors feel so entitled to escapes that they can't contrive new strategies such as you do. Sad!

Personally as someone who has all survivor adept achievements, I haven't been scared of a Bubba ever since I got to 100% pallet stun effectiveness against his power.

I really doubt you get 100% stuns on Bubba's that use their power at pallets. It's somewhat bugged right now so even when you get the stun points he will often not actually get stunned and instead break the pallet. (Same with Demogorgon).

And yes, BT and other anti-camping perks should exist so killers don't start doing this:

    https://youtu.be/N8HihqfXc_o?t=14

    (credit to my shameless* past-self).

  • Because I realized years ago that generally even if you're an amazing killer but you're facing equally amazing survivors, in all likelihood you'll lose the game. Also the fact that you have no downtime as killer (unless you camp) and are under constant pressure. 1 mistake or misjudgement can lose you the game. I REALLY don't like that pressure.

I eventually quit killer because of this and haven't really looked back since. I do occasionally want to give killer another go but it's very very rare for me to do so now. I don't even do killer challenges anymore and might play 1 game of the newer killers.

  • This is just based on my own experience but 60 ping or lower is good. Up to 90ish ping is playable but after that it gets kinda meh. Ping consistency is also a really important factor. Id' rather have a consistent 80 ping rather than a fluctuating 20-60 ping.

Although this isn't really based on my experience in DBD, it's more so when I used to play CS:GO competitive matches with my poor internet connection.

  • It's one of those well balanced perks I'd say. It's cool to use in altruistic builds or builds where you want super insane heal speed times by adding WGLF, CoH + Botany Knowledge.

But it's a perk you wish your teammate replaced with BT when they unhook you from a camping killer.

  • Even if it is a bug, I think it's a pretty cool "tech" and should stay. Here are some tips:

    • Consider which way around the object is hug techable. Sometimes the Blight can only go one way (because that way is smooth) so position yourself closer to the other side of the loop.
    • When you see a blight starting to hug tech they often bounce into the object multiple times for maximum speed (if they are using speed addons). At that point it is clear as daylight what they are doing so just run away from the loop. They won't have any tokens left to get you.
    • If the above options aren't do-able then as the Blight is hug teching, do a little 360 at the corner where the Blight will be flicking with an M1 from. Lots of the time he will fly right past you as he is religiously hugging the object and may be looking down at the floor too so has less visibility.
  • I hope you reported the person that said "end ur life". Could well be banned for saying something like that.

  • They'd probably think "Wow, it's come a long way. When I first started playing there was only a few killers and survivors! I should definitely start playing again...".

Kind of funny/sad that year 1 players that really haven't seen anything from DBD in years would probably be very confused when they load into a game with Demo/Nancy/Steve/Jonathon.

  • The biggest break from DBD I had was conveniently just before old legion was released and I came back about when Plague was released.

Although now that I think about it I probably had a month break or so when I lost all my progress in Feb 2018.

Other than that I haven't had long breaks from DBD unless I've been working around the clock to meet deadlines. It's safe to say I'm addicted.

  • Yup. Looking forward to using the new boon + CoH.

  • The rift and challenges are a really good addition. It's funny because if I remember correctly the Devs sent out a survey and one of the questions was if players were interested in a battlepass and I think the majority weren't. But they went ahead and did one anyway.

I rarely buy skins with auric cells and so am very happy with the huge amount of free skins I've earned just from playing the game.

It also gives me an objective to do and bloodpoints to save and splash into the new chapter. Not to mention, when I complete all the challenges I always go back to... Tome V, tier 2? and equip my trusted flower.

  • @landromat said:

Jake. There were only 4 survivors back then. I lost my progress and switched to Ace later

PS give me my legacies back, BHVR

Similar story here. I mained Claudette with L3 until I lost it. Now I just rotate between original survivors with nice outfits from the rift or that I've bought with shards.

I actually did get Jake to lvl 50 first back then and so I guess I was a shameless sabo Jake main for a short period. That was only really because I played with 3 friends back then and we all chose separate characters. But when hints of Legacy prestige came about I decided to switch to main Claudette and P3'd her as well as Hillbilly.

  • Yeah, fresh content is always welcome. New killer, new survivor and 6 new perks. Sounds good to me! Although I do hope there is a new map because they are always fun to traverse too. So yes I am excited although I'll probably just watch a stream here and there instead of downloading the PTB.

  • Not quite the same issue but I've noticed recently that the prompt to drop pallets has become a tiny bit inconsistent. Happens very rarely, but sometimes the prompt just won't appear (despite being in the pallet range) and you'll stand there like a numpty spamming space whilst the killer lunges at you.

  • Regular nerfs, buffs, map reworks, reworked killers, new content, new perks, new maps, new bugs (Jeryl), new improved legendary characters, new skins, new tomes/challenges, BP codes, events etc all contribute to DBD feeling fresh. There's always something interesting going on or controversies, like with the new Boil Over buff (which has now been nerfed).

As long as the devs keep supporting this game and doing the above, it's going to last a long time no matter the competition. The only things that could really kill it right now is if cheating or the general balance becomes really, really, really bad.

It's not about adding counter-play. It's literally about nerfing Nurse. You might want to recheck the title of the thread.

    Nurse already has counter-play here:

    a) Once she starts her charge, she HAS to blink (and then suffer fatigue). Your options are to either maintain course, or turn (even back toward her) to force her to misblink

    b) On maps with floors, e.g. The Game, you can run back to the Nurse to force her to blink down to the lower floor... win!

    c) You can also abuse obstacles that require her to blink short distances accurately, e.g. rocks and walls (remember, your hitbox also blocks her blinks)

    d) Nurse's movement speed is also slower than survivors, you can literally outrun her (blinks aside).

    e) After a blink, she suffers fatigue and has vision obscured... perfect time to make a getaway. And I hate to say it, but Shadow Step + Iron Will essentially allows you to disappear when this happens because she can't track after a hit.

Seriously, how much more counter-play do you want??

The problem I see over and over again is that survivors refuse to step up and learn how to counter-play the killers. They just want every killer to work in the same way, and when they don't, they cry "there's no counter-play!!! waaaah!!!" instead of actually looking for it.

Play Nurse. Get good with her. Get to a level where you're getting 4K's vs survivors with 1000's of hours and then you can let us know whether she's already got enough counters, or whether she's too easy.

Again, you're putting words in my mouth when you suggest I want "every killer to work in the same way" and I'm not sure where I'm crying (as you say) about how there's no counter-play? I never said that.

All I suggest is that there is more counter-play, not that some counter-play doesn't already exist. And I'm talking from a perspective of counter-play at the highest levels where Nurses are insanely good.

    @[Deleted User] said:

It wouldn't be a fair nerf at all. The survivor isn't double backing correctly if the Nurse can distance cancel and still hit them. That means the survivor is overcommitting to the double back way too much. You don't need to be all the way in her lunge range when you double back. That puts you in the danger zone. You just need to double back to the point that you're inside of her max 1st blink range. Then she has to cancel and give you a ton of distance, overblink, or backpedal until you're at max range again.

Survivors have way more tools/control against a Nurse than they think. They just get no practice against good Nurses.

Thanks for your comment although I disagree somewhat about how survivors can overcommit to a doubleback. Survivors can double back to a point where she is a few meters away (not in the danger zone) but she can still blink on top of them anyway with a fully charged blink. Now although there's more travel time with that blink, she can quickly secure the hit with her second blink when the survivor starts running off again.

This nerf would aim to remove that possibility when a Nurse has a well charged blink. Post-nerf, if the Nurse expects the doubleback, she would commit to a short range blink. Currently Nurses don't really have to commit and can instead re-adjust their blink distance depending on what the survivor does.

Anyway thanks for your comments everyone. It's clear no one agrees with this nerf. I know that Nurse has a special place in terms of balance in this game (understandably!), so this post would always be controversial. I've never seen anyone suggest this kind of nerf before so it's interesting to see everyone's replies. Feel free to comment more but I'm done with this post now.
