  • Tunneld one of my friends right out of the game immediately after they unhooked themselves - we thought we'd use up 2 perk slots for slippery meat + up the ante for some fun that game.

Also was slugging, using dead man switch + resonance, range addons, the usual.

  • Maybe they could keep the overheat mechanic but just have it apply x meters within a hooked survivor. Just to prevent Hillbilly's from 99ing their chainsaw the entire 2 hook states. Just like how Leatherface can no longer do that.

  • Apart from the ones others have listed, Pig is undoubtedly up there. As soon as you get a trap on a survivor before the last gen is done it's just a case of tunnelling as usual with no chance to escape (except getting hatch if everyone leaves).

  • As a previous L4D2 player, it'd be cool to see legendary skins for them (and L4D characters). Although it'd make sense to make all the legendary skins purchasable under Bill's character, instead of scattering them around to a few different characters.

Legendary characters have their own voice, mannerisms, portraits etc nowadays just so your aware. So they wouldn't make Bill noises for example.

  • From what I understand, you want an extended wiggle timer during EGC. Yet in the game you played they didn't actually successfully save the survivor they were body blocking for in the first place.

This is the equivalent of survivors asking for a longer hook state in EGC so that they have more time to save their teammate (even though they did save their teammate but it was a close shave).

I get you had a bad game but the core mechanics of the game shouldn't change because of it (you also got your kill anyway...).

  • I suppose Sprint Burst, maybe Lithe. But you could also see the "vault speed build" aka Spine Chill + Resilience used more often. It serves a similar purpose to DH when it comes to vaulting a window/pallet in time before the killer gets their hit. Obviously the vault speed build isn't as good as DH but it is consistent and can be repeatedly handy in the same chase.

Other perks of the combo include faster gen rushing, countering stealth killers/perks/addons, opening gates and healing faster etc. Personally I'd probably use this combo if DH was reworked entirely.

Yes, let's make it free so Killers can never take advantage of a mess-up and Survivors never have to worry about failing it. It just becomes an free 'get off the shoulder now' perk with 0 fail states. ๐Ÿ™„

Should survivors have to complete a difficult skill check to use Deliverance? Or For The People? Or when picking up a pallet with Any Means Necessary? Etc. The skill check for DS is just an old, outdated relic from 2016, no other survivor perk requires you to hit a difficult skill check.

If you equip a perk and the situation occurs where it activates, it should be guaranteed to work. Like every other perk. External factors like lag shouldn't play a part (yet they currently do).

the only reason i hate it is because people fake having DS, but i hate it in a funny way.

id rather they just get rid of locker saves

I'm so glad that there is an obsession every match as this allows survivors to fake having DS. It was horrible before because if no one used an obsession based perk, there would be no obsession and thus tunneling would be encouraged. Glad that's a thing of the past.

Also I agree with getting rid of locker flash saves. Easiest solution to that issue.

  • If a killer is hard tunneling it is difficult to get to a locker regardless. Sure you can easily get there with BT but you'll soon be booted out of the locker if so. It's fine.

  • My brother gets accused of cheating a lot, probably enhanced by the fact that he usually uses his L3 meg. He is simply a Hope enjoyer and there have been countless killers telling him he is using subtle speed cheats in end game chat which is always funny.

  • They've really got to bring back that bounce that every survivor loved to do at the combine harvesters though.

I wonder if I can do it with some haste perk? Hope? Maybe even with Boon: Dark theory?

  • There's no need for a skillcheck. Although in rare circumstances where you want to save DS for a your second unhook, it should be activated by a press of a button. So you can choose whether to use it, or save it.

(Almost 700k hours killer main here) So i decided to switch from killer main to survivor main for a week and dbd has been much fun lately. My heart isn't pounding through my chest from the stress of playing killer, 4 people aren't taunting me, i'm not irritated of the second chances survivors get, it's been a much chill experience. Hell even losing as survivor is fun, cuz atleast i don't get 4 people rubbing it in my face "hey you lose, we win". Now the problem is, i don't wanna go back to playing killer at all, why stress my ass off playing killer in this survivor sided game when i can actually have fun as survivor? Gaming is supposed to be fun anyways. So to the killers mains who switched to being survivor mains, did you guys go back to playing killer? Or stuck to survivor?

I used to play both killer and survivor from 2016-2019~. I had a lot of frustrations playing killer back then but kept playing anyway because not all games were bad, in fact many games were fun but when there was a bad game, it was really really bad.

There was also that feeling that I had to put in 10x more effort as killer than the survivors which is kind of true. But that's because it's a 1v4, you don't get downtime like survivors do. I also felt like really really good survivors had more control in a chase than I did (as a Hillbilly main) no matter how well I played. So... why not become a survivor main that controls chases?

So yea to answer your question I switched to only playing survivor (although I did play killer to complete the tome challenges). But for the past few months I don't even do killer challenges anymore. So apart from dabbling with Nurse a few times, I'm only really playing survivor. Although I am more and more tempted to start playing Nurse.

They changed the input. If you hold m1 mid blink you will lunge first frame available. It's a relatively recent and intentional change.

Oh wow. Maybe that's why it feels like I'm getting hit before I even see her come out of blink. You're right about DH being worse against her then because there's been so many times I feel like I've pressed DH when I should but it doesn't work and I get downed. Thought it was mostly because of the killers latency.

  • Killers shouldn't be like Bubba where they can just decide to stop playing the game normally by AFKing at a hook with no counter play. There's already enough Bubba players like this as it is.

  • @Bwsted said:

DH is heavily nerfed against her since they recently changed her lunge.

I suggest you play m1 on gens instead.

    How was her lunge changed?

  • I'm normally quite aware on gens but just once a few days ago I was not really paying attention, just thinking of other things. I was just kinda looking at one set of stairs under the main building on plagues map and the hole area.

An unheard of tinkerer legion completely caught me off guard and soon jumpscared me. He came down the other set of stairs of course. Haven't been jumpscared like that in a while.

  • Most big DBD streamers are hard to watch for me, with some exceptions. Entitled, hackusations left and right, belittling the opponent's, calling players streamsnipers or comp players (even though they aren't) etc.

I do tune into a few of the smaller streamers sometimes though, I like chill streams.

I also like to play more DBD than watch it.

  • Almost all pallets on Dead Dawg Saloon are unsafe when dropped. 3 gen's are common near the hangman corner or behind the houses, in the corner. Trying to run around Dead Dawg's saloon's shack smoothly is asking to give away a free hit. Same with many of its loops, you can't hug them smoothly like you can e.g., on Macmillan because you'll get stuck on something.

Main building is good though, killers should always prioritize breaking the 2 doors near the good windows.

  • EGC is fine and only exists in the first place so that the game ends. It was never introduced to buff killers, although it indirectly does because the timer is on your side. So it shouldn't be buffed to be further in the killers favour, as you suggest.

I don't see the issue with 99ing either. If you want the game to end, open the gate yourself. Like I said, that's why EGC exists.

  • Piggy and Myers when they get stunned. But the most satisfying sound by far is the sound doctors weapon makes when it hits a wall. So good. Edit: Might actually be when a certain object in-game is hit with a weapon, not sure if its specific to doctor. But I'm talking about the metallic 'cling' noise.

That's literally what it used to be. And it was broken. One key meant all 4 survivors could escape out, with nothing you can do about it.

    So, no!!

Hopefully I'm remembering correctly but the real problem with the old system was that 3 survivors could escape without finishing the last gen and 2 survivors could escape without finishing the last 2 gens (if they were the only survivors left in the trial).

This caused e.g., a 2 man SWF to just let others die and escape with 2 gens left. I may have done this a few times with my friend with Plunderers if the game went south quickly.

Nevertheless I think spawning the hatch once all gens are done would be a nice buff and maybe increasing the hatch open window from 10 to 15 seconds (once opened with a key).

  • Like I said when keys got nerfed I would have liked it if they kept it so when all the gens are done the hatch spawns (regardless of how many survivors are alive). At least it'd be a bit more useful then and could lead to some clutch moments.

I think Clown is underrated. A lot of people say he's the worst killer in the game, but if you run like Corrupt/Lethal and are good with your bottles to end chases lightning quick, he can be pretty good and fun.

I also think Trickster and Huntress are underrated specifically on console. Everyone talks about how difficult they are to play, but I've gotten pretty good with them with a controller and I think they're very fun and rewarding. I can definitely win with them.

I think Spirit is overrated. She is hot garbage at high MMR. Everyone runs Iron Will and they can hear exactly where you are but you can't hear them breathe, see blood, anything. It's terrible. You have to run MDR/DCB to even have a chance vs Iron Will gamers. Terrible

I agree with Clown being underrated, a good Clown player is scary. You can't loop them, they make it hard if not impossible to get from one pallet to the next and its easier for them to get a hit at a relatively unsafe pallet because its hard to see them.

The scariest Clowns have builds like STBFL and strong slowdown addons perhaps with Brutal Strength as well. They catch up to you quickly. Obviously he's not S tier or anything but he is underrated.

I'm not sure if there really is an overrated killer... but perhaps Hag? Some people think she's amazing in the right hands and she can be with certain maps/gen setups but against good opponents that constantly harass her traps from the start of the game, it's very difficult for her to get going.

  • It is a bit of a waste of a perk because as soon as you know the killer is using it, just play as if you don't have a flashlight. That's -1 perk for the rest of the game.

  • When you win against a Nurse player and they're mad, saying all sorts of things and wanting to play against me again. Then the next game's map offering is autohaven.

  • A perk that allows survivors to bash through breakable doors every minute. As in run, jump and smash through them, tumbling to the floor for a second. Imagine doing that on a map like up the stairs in the main building on Coal Tower.

  • I used to play Overwatch occasionally a few years ago and still do sometimes dabble with CSGO with a friend. But uh... DBD has kinda been my main game for 5, almost 6 years now, there is no other game like it.

It's a good game ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ and I enjoy all the chaos that comes with it

  • Almost always just play DBD, it's so fun. I only usually play other games like CSGO if a friend of mine wants to play them.

  • Aftercare, Flashbang, Boon: Exponential, For The People, Any Means Necessary, Second Wind, WGLF.

All fun to use perks, non are very meta. Most of these are situational but when you get to use them they are rewarding.

  • Doctors can anti-loop but especially with smooth semi-small loops, survivors can get quite a few loops out of them if played properly before you get a hit.

  • Farm

I try my best to never be toxic/BM

Play killer, for the most part

    20th January, 2017.

By no means my oldest, but its the oldest uploaded to my Steam profile.

Look at those fully capitalised Survivor names. Positively ancient.

EDIT: Went digging through an old hard drive and found this one.

9th July, 2016. About three weeks after the game released.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5XQD4J8VN2BZ/image.png

The username 'Baked Jake' was apparently hilarious to my fourteen year old self.

Was that a failed pallet save? I can't tell, looks like he's just dropping the survivor though ๐Ÿค”. Looks like you loaded into a 3v1 too... wait... were you farming? Also those perk rarities in the first pic... I'm guessing the Leader perk is that colour because the Dwight had it equipped? I don't even remember it being like that so that's interesting.

That 2nd screenshot, 3 weeks after the game released? I think that's Wretched Shop? Wasn't there 3 open windows right where you're downed? Crazy.

Also just for fun, here's my first in-game screenshot (cursed):

    steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.jpg

  • 6500hrs, almost exclusively play survivor nowadays.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Seeing all of these makes me wish I still had my old PC with all of my ancient Screenshots on. Sadly it was so decrepit I just kinda had to replace everything so got a brand new machine and forgot to transfer files before the HDD got smashed lmao

I can pretty accurately describe it though. Me, playing Claudette, in the SXHY jacket and amazing red boots from Chairty Case and 80s Suitcase respectively, T1 Botany and T2 Self-care equipped, on a corn map, as I am being facecamped. I think by a Wraith.

I wish I had backed up my old DBD screenshots, I lost 99% of my 2016 DBD screenshots. At least I still have a few that I uploaded to the steam cloud.

The SXY jacket was so good back then, used it sometimes myself as a Claud main... although we didn't exactly have much options. Was really good for immersing too.

I'm feeling nostalgic so I'm gonna do more than that. Back in the beginning we had the pizza Dweets. I was a proud, proud pizza Dweet and I would do everything I could to deliver that sweet sweet pepperoni pizza to the exit gates at any costs.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/K50B10TB0LAI/olives.png

I remember dying of laughter just listening to Gary talk about the olive. Pre-game chat used to be amazing, you guys have no idea.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3PQZTHEOYQKA/nea.png

One of my first escapes playing Nea. I think Halloween was a fresh release at this point. That rank 13 player was an absolute pro. That's a perk setup you still see today. I wished I'd be that good someday.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/YSUV854MFDFX/trappin.png

My first 4 mori kill game. I wish I'd taken earlier screenshots but back then in 2017 I really wasn't thinking I'd still be playing the game today. It's just a good time.

That olive man. It still makes me laugh.

The pizza ๐Ÿ• dweets... they were funny, you don't see them anymore for some reason!

Also crazy to see almost the same meta build being used all those years ago... it's the exact same one I use except self-care of course ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

Any killer can pose a threat just by existing. It can be applied to anyone. Are all killers OP then?

I never said old deathslinger was OP. And I was referring to how good he was at zoning from just existing. Only other killer that comes close is Huntress but she has a wind up time similar to the current deathslinger, which allows for more counterplay.

  • They should either make it so you press e.g., E whilst being picked up to use DS or make the skill check really large so it's basically impossible to miss. The second option is my preferred choice just because it would be easier for new players to visually see how to use DS instead of a small E prompt that could be overlooked. (Edit: Although now that I've remembered the new wiggle system is a thing, maybe pressing a button is the best option just to remove some complexity).

There's no need for the requirement of actually hitting a "hard" DS skill check to be a thing.

    @squbax said:

I get your friend is new, but is it even a hard skillcheck? I can't actually recall the last time I missed ds, its honestly pretty easy to land, so maybe since imo its so easy, making it easier should not affect much, altho for the lack of effort on a players input maybe the stun time should be reduced, It would give too much value for very little effort.

The small skill check doesn't need to exist in the first place, it's outdated. So I don't think nerfing the duration of DS to compensate for its removal/increased size is necessary.

  • CS:GO is fun and I got to the rank of LEM playing it. But I don't see how that's relevant. Skill in CS:GO isn't just about being skilled at shooting, it's about game sense, positioning, headshot consistency, timing, strats, teamwork, communication, good use of utility etc.

But like I said I don't see how that's relevant. I'm glad Deathslinger was nerfed because he could EASILY zone by just existing. He didn't even need to tap right click occasionally although that also helped. He can still zone right now but there's a small trade off if he aims his weapon, which is good.

only a single match? this kind of things happens to me on a daily basis (and no, before you even say it i play chill without camping and tunneling, but even in that case it's unjustified behavior nevertheless). it's useless reporting those people with proofs since they won't get banned (i've opened a lot of tickets in those years, noone of them succeded). just laugh of them or straight up ignore what they will say...

Every person I have reported with an additional ticket (when they are on the steam platform) has been perma banned for death threats or if they wished I was dead via self harm. Support team takes those reports seriously.

  • Problem I have with the range addons is that they are apparently still bugged in terms of speed (although I don't know for sure) and also seem to let the nurse hit you before they can be seen to land their blink from the survivors perspective.

And of course they make the best killer in the game much more powerful, which is concerning.

  • It has become increasingly rare but yes, sometimes.

  • The only real skilled part of using DH is winning a stand-off in the open against killers waiting for you to use your DH.

  • @Marigoria said:

Solo Q is still garbage. Nothing has changed for me.

Same, except it got much worse somehow.

Cleanse. Go on infected gen. Cleanse, unhook infected survivor. Cleanse, go on infected gen...

  • Just nerf his addons, that's all.

  • I won't name him but there's a big streamer who will often call me and my friends cheaters and try to belittle us in any way possible despite us doing nothing but playing the game. Make up lies about us too, it's weird - apparently I'm a comp DBD player too that just wants to stomp noobs?

I don't know how these people gained an audience or why people watch them. They're horrible. I'll see people echoing in chat what the streamer says too.

Just wanted to vent that here since it seems like you had a similar experience. It is scary when people with such big audiences publicly name you as a cheater.

  • 2 days ago I flash saved against a cheating Spirit. She was using wall hacks and sometimes TPed when phasing. Also did all gens against them twice in a row (because cheaters can snipe you). But in both games that is when she TPed non stop to kill everyone. Pathetic.

It's really sad because they play Spirit to try and subtle cheat but when they realise they are absolutely garbage even with cheats and have 3 hooks when all gens are done they really go full out lol.

I wasn't that mad though I just found it funny a cheating Spirit was getting rolled.

You're trying to convince a person who even thinks Lithe is better than Dead Hard. All Dead Hard is - is a gap closer, and a moment of invulnerability. That creates a very small window where that perk is used skillfully, but rather only get's used when the Killer out play's you, you make a mistake with distance, or need a free health state (which is usually because you lacked the skill to avoid the situation your in - in the first place). It's a second chance perk. It's only strength is giving bad survivors freebies, and that's why it's so commonly used. However players that have skill, map awareness, and can apply that knowledge and skill to their perks shows in perks like Lithe, and Sprint Burst where you control your status conditions, distance, and positioning - without going into a big lengthy description.

Most of your arguments are just about whether or not it's skilful to use or not, that's not the point. The point is its better. You're also acting like a killer will never eventually catch a skilful player - this is not true. Which is why when they are about to end the chase (even if it has already "skilfully" lasted 3 mins), dead hard is there to extend it further.

  • @Kurri said:

Sprint Burst is better, if you are skilled enough to use it.

But they are not, so they use their "Press one button for free second chance" perk instead.

DH makes you invulnerable and can be used at any point if injured. You have to micro manage exhaustion with SB (so you have to be inefficient walking sometimes). It also doesn't give invulnerability.

SB requires more skill to use in a chase and can be used to deter a killer from initiating a chase all together but I'd still say DH is much better.

DH also lets you go through traps and allows for extra 50/50**(ish?) mindgames which takes it to another level.

**What I mean by this is that if you're at a bad downed pallet (or even a window TL), you can basically guarantee the killer will eventually swing for you if you don't vault after a mindgame or 2. Once they start their lunge, deadhard into the pallet and vault it. They can predict this if they are really aware but the odds are they will lunge.
