  • To be honest, I don't know. As a survivor main I think MMR has improved my experience more and I don't get Blight, Nurse and Spirit every game like others suggest. In fact Spirit is very rare, Nurse's are rare and Blight's are uncommon. At the moment Bubba's seem to be the most common killer.

    I don't know.

  • I'm sorry for your experiences but I really am against removing end game chat completely. If it causes you grief, it can be disabled. You don't have to see it. Many other people like chatting with others in end game chat even if it is to say gg. Sometimes I'll have a nice chat with players.

Of course there are people out there that will type some outrageous stuff. Make sure to report them for it. I reported someone (that happend to have 3K hours) a week ago that essentially told everyone to off themselves. They were permanently banned within a few days. Edit: This is not to downplay your experiences by the way. But my point is that players can be penalized for saying anything very inappropriate when reported for it which is really good.

  • I'm gonna have to name a few of my favourite and least favourite things:

Favourite: Dead Hard and pallet validation. Boons. New and very unique perks are always exciting and spice up gameplay. Finally have more good/meta perks to use. Seeing less Deathslingers and Spirit's is also awesome.

Least favourite: RPD. Hatch change (I'm fine with it all except I think it should always spawn when all gens are done). Hawkins is gone which is really sad as it was one of the most unique maps and my favourite in-door map. Also sad new players can't really get Demo, Steve and Nancy.

  • I'll admit one time I looked outside my window, saw some crows fly off a hedge and for a second thought "I wonder what killer it is?"

  • Happy new year :)

Egc was not implemented ad a buff it was implemented because survivors would frequently hold the game hostage. As for the 99 I believe it should regress to around 70% max. The killer should still have a chance at end game to get a kill or to if they play it right especially with how fast end game can happen.

The ecg timer is not a buff. it's to prevent game stalling, the gens are done now GTFO.

It is an inadvertent buff, I know it was implemented because survivors could take the game hostage. It is a buff because it gives a major advantage to killers. I'm happy EGC exists because I have experienced the game taken hostage/dragged out before EGC and the hatch update. But at end game, before EGC all you had to worry about was Blood warden - it was the only significant reason to 99 gates. Especially if survivors weren't on death hook, you could just hide and wait Blood warden out or even juke and regroup, heal etc for 60 seconds anyway.

Now there's a guaranteed EGC timer when a gate is opened and the possibility of Blood warden. You can also be zoned, have less time to heal etc. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying this is why 99ing is a thing in the first place, so it doesn't need a good counter.

  • @AngyKiller said:

I think the gates should regress just enough so it takes 1.5 or 2 seconds to open them again.

Just long enough that they can't shoot the lever a friendly wink to make the gates pop open. Right now, 99%ing is a safety net that a Killer can't counter; His options are 'Let it happen' or 'Open the gates yourself'.

But neither of those actually help the Killer. So there's no real counter to a 99er.

Does there need to be a good counter though? 99ing exit gates in itself is already a hinder to survivors. Remember, it is only done to prevent the EGC timer which was an inadvertent buff for killers and to a lesser extent because of blood warden. If you're running for the door at the wrong angle and need to open it yourself, that's a precious few seconds that might get you killed.

Just to see how truly powerful this perk is and how much more kills killers get without this totally busted perk, proving even more to the devs that killers complains about this perk are totally valid, that this perk is way too powerful (even if they most definitely know it) and show the survivors running it since forever how little skills they actually have.

They changed ruin because of how much it was used, time for dead hard.

Didn't they actually change ruin because of how busted it was against new players? New players may not have known about gen tapping, and were unable to hit great skill checks.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I think it's good that it's something with a really high skill cap that you can do, and usually there's ways around it, but in some cases (ie two lockers next to each other where you can't pull out one because the other will get a save) I think they need to rework the map design around the knowledge this is possible.

I'm all for it staying in the game, but map design absolutely needs to be adapted for it.

I think that's the best solution but I doubt it would be implemented successfully, especially with consideration to future maps. So the easiest thing to do is just prevent flash blinds altogether when in a locker animation.

  • He could use buffs in other areas but I hope they never revert the ADS change. He got free pressure and in particular free zoning just from existing because you never knew when he'd shoot as he could do so immediately. Having to constantly zig-zag in a chase, thus play inefficiently and make terrible plays just in-case he fired immediately at any point was so tiring to play against. Deathslingers could get what felt like free m1's just from tapping right click every so often in a chase even if they had no intention of shooting.

  • I've seen it in play a few times. The 2 times it has been useful is when the killer goes for a 4k slug in an in-door map.

  • In my experience blatant cheaters do get banned when I report them and send video proof. They used to be banned very quickly. One time a cheater was banned within an hour of the report.

But lately it has been taking weeks for cheaters to be banned after I've reported them. The fact that they get to cheat for weeks despite my report is really discouraging... I once even had to lobby dodge the same cheater a week after I first reported them.

  • Snowmen in DBD is a big step-up from past events. I think BHVR has now reached a good point at least with this event because dare I say, it doesn't distract too much from the core gameplay whilst also introducing a new fun element to the game. If there was anything more drastic, you risk players either throwing games or becoming way too powerful because of the event. That would get old really quickly.

  • This event. I know it doesn't seem that significant but the developers have put more effort into this event than ever before. Excluding the Halloween event where you could kick pumpkins, all we've ever had before are reskinned gens, hooks etc and some skins we earn for hooks/gens. Ever since the Halloween event, the developers are doing better with events now.

  • Killer:

    • Dead Hard
    • Iron Will
    • CoH (I guess, haven't actually played killer in a while)

    Survivor:

    • Rancor
    • Ruin
    • Starstruck (against a nurse perhaps with Agitation too)

  • Could be that the killer actually didn't DC, but it was rather DBD's server that failed thus disconnecting everyone, leading to a 5 min ban.

  • The big issue here is that survivors can flashlight save when killers are in the locker animation. As illustrated by this video, it shouldn't be a thing.

  • It's fun for the most part. Every trial is different. It's a unique game.

  • Facing quite toxic streamers and their communities, late at night. I don't want to play against them and can usually tell who they are based on how they play, who they play and how they act. Getting judged/ridiculed by a toxic community and their streamer for the entirety of a game is really unappealing to me even if I "win". I try to avoid it.

  • It's unnecessary and not sure why it's a thing. Just make it respawn after a minute or 2.

  • @Ruma said:

Hag is extremly powerfull in the right hands.

    I rarely lose as her.

What about playing against a coordinated 2 man SWF (or just good survivors) harassing her the entire game whilst others are on gens? One survivor is always there to immediately set off any traps for the person being chased. I do this with my brother I normally play with.

If the Hag has time to setup and no one realizes its a Hag yet she does have an advantage. But if you find her and harass her quickly, she's going to have a hard time, right? Also just to say I don't mean "harass" as in BM. I just tend to play aggressively against good Hag's because once she's in control and has someone hooked, it's very difficult.

  • Build 1 - Blast Mine, Repressed Alliance and anything else

Build 2 - Plunderers Instinct, Appraisal, Ace In The Hole, Built To Last (kind of overkill)

Build 3 - Inner Healing, Head On, Quick and Quiet, Flash Bang/DS

Build 4 - Any Means Necessary, Self-Aware (Fixated), Pebble, Head On/DS/Repressed Alliance (very unique perks).

Build 5 - Bond, Windows Of Opportunity, Kindred, After Care/Empathy/OoO/No One Left Behind

Build 6 - Deliverance, DS, Unbreakable, Soulguard/Tenacity (a good chance that you'll escape from first hooks at end game with this). If you're feeling ballsy remove DS and keep the rest of the build.

  • @Lemonwolf said:

It also protects against noed when they are close to the exit.

Nothing you can do about it.

    Fun fun fun.

I know this is supposed to be a "fun" event thing.

But this is just a new (temporary) game mechanic to troll killers.

It's probably a band-aid solution but you could bodyblock them until the EGC timer runs out. They're too slow to go around you. They'll have to make a desperate dash eventually and at that point hit them with noed.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

Wait people are complaining about the first fun event since like 2018?

It's actually the most effort they've put into an event. It's fun. Winter gift boxes in the bloodweb would've been nice but still!

  • It had very unique loops which I miss. It was a fun map to mindgame loops because although most loops were unsafe you could chain them together. And if you couldn't, the feeling of winning a mindgame and getting a stun on one of the unsafe pallets was awesome.

  • They really weren't the best experience anyway and may have deterred players from purchasing killers. Players would play killers they've never played before with no perks. To add to that (if I'm remembering correctly) splinter offerings appeared as "secret" offerings so survivors would think you have a mori. This is when you could get hooked and then immediately mori'd afterwards. So they'd genrush hard and try their very best to avoid the mori.

I remember feeling so bad for some players trying out Hag and getting absolutely destroyed. Many of them seemed to regret it in after game chat. And there'd always be an "oh..." moment when you realize they used that offering.

  • It's a weird one but I often (much more regularly since 2020) take a steam screenshot of endgame chat screen (with all the perks showing). Have been doing so since 2016 but lost the 2016 screenshots because my hard drive corrupted. But since 2017 I've accumulated at least 6000+ screenshots (I only use 1 for every end game chat). I want to compile them all into one video at some point.

Not really a point to it. But I have looked through the screenshots and it's funny looking back at what's said. Some chats are wholesome, most are just "gg" and some are toxic. Also interesting looking at perk setups/metas, how often I escape/die/sacrifice survivors and how the end game UI has gradually changed. I also recognize a lot of the players in the screenshots that still play today which is cool.

Edit: Also some games I can remember what happend just from reading end game chat and seeing the results. Like when I got rolled when playing against a certain Nurse player years ago playing in Lery's.

  • The most practical way that BHVR could refund legacy is by looking at player's prestige achievements before the 24th November 2016. They can only verify one set of legacy though so they'd have to allow players to choose which original character they want the legacy on. The only other downside to this is that potential achievements cheaters way back in 2016 before the deadline may also get legacy.

Mathieu did actually mention in 2017 that in order to refund legacy that they'd "be using mostly the timestamps of the achievements, so when you got your achievements specifically". Never happend, though.

I wouldn't support re-introducing legacy in the way you describe because it would alienate the rest of the players who still retain their legacy skins.

  • Hillbilly too I suppose. Used to main him but I'm kind of too scared to play killer nowadays. But I think I'll eventually start playing him again although don't think I'll play like those curving billies.

  • Started playing in July 2016. Now I had a bit of a hard time with this because you have to consider that real infinites were in the game at this point. You could infinite at jungle gyms.

So even though Trapper was awful at most things, he was able to block off some infinites (even though it really wasn't much help). He also excelled at proxy facecamping hooks with a trap directly under a hooked survivor. There was some crazy mindgames back then on whether the Trapper would fake setting the trap under the hook or commit to it as survivors would try and unhook before his setting trap animation finished.

Apart from that, it took years setting and picking up traps and they could be permanently sabotaged.

Hillbilly is the next best because of his crazy mobility, instant down power and the fact he could break pallets with it too. When you compare that to old Wraith and Trapper, that's amazing. He was also really fun to play which is why I mained him :)

You could say Wraith was SS tier back then if you considered how "OP" he was considered at low ranks or when people just started playing. But in reality he only really excelled at bloodpoint farming. Yes you could hide your TR but his cloak was very visible, hooks represented who the killer was (not map specific like it is today) and Spinechill also existed.

    my-image.png

    Fun times.

  • No perk is off limit to me but I suppose there is really no point in taking some perks over others. E.g. if I want a perk to heal myself I'll think of Boon: CoH. So I probably wouldn't use Inner Healing unless I have a build around locker plays. It's just much worse.

  • At the moment I'm just going from character to character that have nice outfits until I use all of their bloodpoint offerings. So I don't really main any survivor anymore but I used to main Claudette.

People who have this Challenge dont want to complete them anyway. They just want to spawn a Cranker to confuse other players.

Some killers give it a whack every once in a while... hurts to see the flower treated that way. I like bringing it whenever I don't have any other challenges because why not? :)

  • @Mandy said:

First of all nobody would be banned for Camping - that's not something that's even reportable, let alone something to ban for.

Chat insults - yes these are bannable but of course it depends on the level of insults, slurs, racism, homophobic comments etc will result in a temp ban, death threats can be permanently bannable. But we do allow a certain amount of "smack talk" - someone saying "you're ######### useless" in the game for example is not going to result in a ban.

And as for the other part of the question - please refer to the forum rules here, we do not discuss bans on the forum, so we would not appreciate people saying what they were banned for etc.

Do the team make sure to distinguish between actual death threats and comments such as "why didn't you ######### quicker?". Sounds awful out of context but that kind of comment could be referring to someone waiting for the hatch and wondering why the 2nd last survivor didn't die faster on the hook.

That's why I make sure if I ever comment something that could be taken out of context I mention e.g. a game mechanic such as a hook.

  • The only time it might be a problem is if a SWF coordinate dying on pallets within the boon's range and use power struggle, flip flop and perhaps unbreakable to recover even faster. To be honest when power struggle first came out I thought that scenario would happen a lot with just unbreakable, flip flop and Soul Guard... but it doesn't.

Purposefully dying on a pallet in a coordinated SWF (especially since hit validation) is very powerful even without the perks mentioned and maybe it'll become a more wide spread strat one day. Just the presence of another survivor in the area can lead to the killer wasting a bunch of time looking for them.

  • I quite like the daily gifts, only problem I have with it is that I've already reached tier 70 so the days rewarding rift fragments basically mean I get nothing. I'd really appreciate more shards in those days so I can purchase more skins :)

This is going to be an unpopular opinion but I wish BHVR would stop advertising things as "exclusive" if they really aren't. People would have paid for deathgarden (in part for or entirely) for the exclusives (even though yes it was made free eventually and died). Perhaps bloodletting will be released next?

    https://twitter.com/DeadByBHVR/status/880949706054139909?s=20

BHVR's constant inconsistencies when it comes to exclusives is very strange.

  • To be honest she's really boring to play against. When in chases I felt like the killer had to mess up massively for the chase to last long. It's the same feeling I get when playing against a Trickster... it's just a matter of time until I'm dead, nothing I can do in terms of skill.

After a few games I thought to myself, when was the last time they released a killer where holding W isn't necessary? Well, the last 7 killers released (excluding Blight) have encouraged the brainless hold W and in many cases the brainless pre-drop pallet until you die strategies.

  • Made it to tier 70 from pretty much just doing survivor challenges (and playing a lot...) so I'm happy. Completing all these rifts are accumulating quite a lot of cosmetics for me now, so there's lots of options to choose from :)

  • Lethal Pursuer. I understand it's decent with killers that have fast mobility or perhaps a nice time saver on a large map. But usually you're going to find survivors fast anyway. I can't see the worth in using it since killers play the rest of the game with just 3 perks.

When it was first revealed I honestly thought it would be a meme perk no one would use but people do use it.

  • I actually really like those fake patch notes. Only ones that are questionable are bloodlust being completely removed and reverting the Stridor change (or the Iron Will buff?). Myers also seeing a survivors aura through walls at tier 3 is also questionable.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Survivor mains are being greedy with their cakes, so I am just running through all my survivor pudding at the moment. Only getting around 100k per game which is alright, but nothing compared to the anniversary.

I have a few but would rather wait for the new chapter to release before using them so I can quickly level everyone up.

  • Nope, it was really really obnoxious. And If I remember correctly the game could be kept hostage from mori spamming since the survivor's bleed out timer would pause every time.

  • I had about 70 pages of salt up until 2018 but since quitting killer it has only gone up slowly. Salt on my profile is much, much less frequent when playing survivor.

I deleted quite a few comments back in 2016/2017 and I regret doing so. Every once in a while it's just funny to look back at the ridiculous reasons people are salty and have a good laugh about it.

  • Hopefully instead of the global icon (representing a player on another platform) we'll now get platform specific icons. It's always spooky when someone from Windows Store types in chat because you expect them to be a console player without chat (because there is A LOT more players playing on console than the Windows Store).

Now that there'll be a big influx of players via the Epic Games Launcher it'd be nice to know if the player on the other platform can actually see what I'm typing in chat or not. Please BHVR, implement platform specific icons near each player's name :)

  • Nope, I don't care about it. I never look at it, it's engrained into my mind to just skip straight to the loadouts. As a survivor, a win for me is having fun, doing well enough so everyone else escapes or escaping myself.

  • 5900hrs. Probably got 1700hrs ish as killer and the rest as survivor + lobbies. I used to main killer for the most part but quit playing it almost entirely in 2018, except if I feel like completing some challenges. Although I am having the urge of trying killer again...

I found playing killer back then more and more stressful and felt I was always playing a losing battle (especially with the balance back then). It hit me one day... why not just play survivor? They seem to have it better off, the gameplay is more chill and once you're good you can control chases against many killers. So I switched to becoming a survivor main.
