  • If you feel like they're cheating and you want to attach a video to your in-game report, you can send it in here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426

You'll need to have reported them in-game as well, though.

Usually in my experience cosmetics means nothing. I dislike ruin and dont use it so seeing multiple toolboxes worries me though.

    Do you stream or anything?

    I do. twitch.tv/peanits_bhvr

I don't run Ruin either. I won't pretend I win every time- I don't- but ain't nothing wrong with trying. Usually there's something I can do better. If there was really nothing I could have done better, oh well, no sense getting worked up about it.

  • We've given it some thought, and while you do raise an excellent point, it is my unfortunate duty to inform you that this has not sped up the process.

While this would explain OPs Screenshot, what about those?

Especially in the second case the Rank Difference is almost double what should be the max Range.

    Both times I was solo.

These would be the edge cases I mentioned. We made a discovery this morning that might have caused those, but I can't say for sure without checking. We're working on getting all of those situations fixed.

  • Nope. I'll never learn how to play against it if I don't try. I've lost count of how many times I've thought, "Wow, this is going to be rough" only to do surprisingly well.

  • @Carlosylu said:

I can't remember the specific post, but I do remember this explanation:

"The matchmaking puts you with people of your same colour, but if there aren't any available at the moment it's not gonna make you wait 20 minutes till you get a lobby like it used to, you'll get to play in the first, closer ranks, lobby the server has"

@Peanits Is this how it works good sir?

Not quite. The exact details can be found here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/92295/

Basically it'll try to get you a lobby close to your rank, but if it can't, it'll expand the search up to a maximum of 6 ranks +/-. So in this case, as a rank 14 killer, it would search for survivors in a range of 8 - 20 if it can't find anyone closer at the moment.

7 is just out of that range, but there's a slight catch here; if someone is rank 8 and ranked up from that match, they'd appear as a rank 7 on the tally screen. I can't say for sure whether that's what happened here or not without looking through the data, but it could just be an edge case. Edge cases are things that shouldn't happen, and usually don't happen, but somehow they do very rarely. The good news is that we've found some more edge cases today and are looking into getting them fixed.

You WILL need your wallet, DBD has now chosen the battle pass option for the game and subsequently tied the event to this arbitrary system which will allow people to just purchase everything 2 ways instead of actually playing for it.

You do not. You have 10 weeks to do some- not even all- of the challenges in the first Tome. They're totally free and do not require you to spend a single cent.

  • It's okay, you can put your wallet away, you won't be needing it. The event will come as soon as the update is ready. We'll be pushing the end date back to match, so you won't miss out on any of it.

  • Wow, no love for Head On.

@Peanits Can we have information if the Legion is getting a change only to their add-ons or to their power and add-ons? People in the forums have some really good ideas that could help you guys or inspire you in some way.

No concrete things, just which of the options is enough.

We, Legion players, would really appreciate it.

I can't make any promises just yet- it's still pretty early on. I can say that we have been watching and reading through all of your suggestions, though, and a lot of them are pretty good. They've been passed on to the team, we'll see what we can do.

(But again, no promises. Please don't take this as a guarantee.)

    Thank you!

That's all I can ask for honestly. I'm sorry if I looked like I was begging in the forums earlier ^^; I was pretty disappointed to find out that the update was pushed back.

All good! It didn't come across that way at all.

  • @DelsKibara said:

I just hope the devs will extend the event.

It's not being extended, so to speak, but the end date is going to be shifted back to match the later start date. You won't lose any event days, basically.

  • @Kenshin said:

that sounds like extra work, they would never do that lol.

I don't see how the rudeness is necessary. Everyone here is working hard to get it ready as soon as possible. This is one of the biggest updates in a long time combined with an engine update. Some things went wrong and we wouldn't feel comfortable putting the update out in the state it's in. I'm sorry if this is disappointing to you, but shoving the update out the door right now isn't a better option.

As far as the event goes, everything will still be happening according to plan, just slightly after it was originally planned. You won't lose any days, the end date will be shifted back to match.

  • @apathytheclown said:

Any chance to get an extra three pieces of cosmetics when the event starts to make up for the delay?

The event as a whole has not changed. It's still just as long as before, it's just been shifted back slightly.

Umm..A farm map (it was my first match in awhile; had some RL crud going on)..The one with the slaughterhouse in the middle.

I had NoED (useless because SWF), Remember Me, Fired Up, and Blood Warden. As Freddy.

I hooked someone after the last gen popped, but gates were at 99%, so Blood warden was 100% trash & useless.

@Peanits Here's a thought: Why not a perk like Blood Warden that regressed unopened gens on a hooking? ANYTHING to make Blood Warder not useless against this tactic!

That would contradict what the perk does, though. You would want the gates to open before you hook the survivor so you can activate Blood Warden. Having it regress would be counterproductive. If you want to activate Blood Warden, you can open the gate yourself. I have done this in the past and it's fairly effective. If you're really creative with it, you can slug until the timer is about half way up and then hook someone. They'll usually be pretty bold about the saves and sometimes you'll end up with a 4k from the collapse.

  • @CrowFoxy said:

Bhvr, what is wrong with you guys?

Nothing at all- we didn't want to put an update out until it's ready. There were some issues we needed to sort out first and we figured it was better to push the release back a little than force it out ASAP. Sorry if this is disappointing.

  • At that point, they've got you beat. You've lost. They managed to get the gates ready, you failed to stop them (after failing to stop them from powering the generators). At that point, you just need to play as though the gates are open. You can always open them yourself if you're trying to use Blood Warden.

This was actually tested at one point. It creates a gap between solo players and groups with voice chat. A team on comms can have one guy sit on the gates and tap the controls to stop it from regressing, while solo players have to hope for the best or open the gate ahead of time.

Darn. Do you know when the archives will get released, or are you still figuring that out?

We're still working on nailing down a release date, but there's a few issues we need to iron out first. We weren't comfortable releasing the update with those issues in place. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know for sure.

  • They are not being released tomorrow, no.

The math though, even with the best case circumstances, doesn't seem to add up though.

Still needing to play over 100 hours, without considering queue times or games ending prematurely, and just having all of the challenge rewards done, is still a very long time.

As someone who doesn't care much for challenges, because I absolutely despise having to throw my team under the bus because I wanted to do a challenge, let's say I only do 25% of all of the challenges -- I'm still looking at needing to do over 150 hours worth of matches. That means I'd need to play roughly over 10 matches a day to be able to get to the end of the rift track, even with the bonus XP.

That's not casual. It just simply isn't.

It will definitely take you quite a while if you decide not to do the challenges. You would be skipping the main way to progress through The Rift. At that point, you're opting not to progress as fast as you could be. It'd be like playing one of the old event hook/generator events and not trying to go for the marked hooks/generators or using an offering. You'll still progress, just way slower than if you had tried to complete it.

Im not that hyped after loosing the howling grounds cosmetics ive earned (still waiting for response om the ticket) wich makes me afraid to pay 10 euros, earn premium stuff and later find them gone.

Those are stored differently; it won't happen for stuff from The Archives. We've improved the way we handle rewards since those early events.

    @thrawn3054 said:

I wasn't. A Claudette cinematic I would be excited for. She was my OG main.

@Peanits one of the main concerns I've seen is being able to complete the rift won't be feasible without a serious grind. Also some of the challenges looked nearly impossible without alot of luck. Not sure if those were Boosted Dwight's concerns. But those seem to be the most talked about.

Between the challenges and casually playing, with the daily first match bonuses included, you should be able to finish the Rift without having to grind. As long as you play regularly, you should have no problem. You don't have to play a ton, even just playing a couple matches per day will do.

  • @Boosted_Dwight said:

My hype is dying. I'm hearing a lot of concerns that I want answers to. I thought the stream would clarify some concerns but it was just a cool trailer and info that was already said. :/

I might be able to help there. What kind of concerns are we talking about?

  • I could only see it being necessary if it didn't already have counterplay available. However, you can easily counter it just by hopping in a locker when the killer goes to hook someone. Alternatively, you can run one direction for four seconds, then turn around and sneak back the other way. Limiting the amount of times it can activate on top of that would be a little overkill.

Nobody said anything about that. The perk that @NMCKE suggested would be the complete opposite of that.

  • It could be neat. What do you have in mind? I would be very hesitant to add anything to do with generator repair speed, though. That could get out of hand pretty quickly.

I really want to hear a statement on the Nurse nerf, its one of the largest nerfs I've ever seen and not a single question about nurse on the Q&A was answered. I really, really don't want them to kill nurse and force Spirit on everyone. Hoping those basekit changes get reverted.

We'll be answering some in the Q&A this week. The ones answered in the post in the Q&A thread are the simple questions that typically already have an answer out there (e.g. Do I get my cells back from The Rift? is something that was already answered). The rest of them, we collect and get answered so we can talk about it on stream.

  • Last week's stream was not a Q&A, it was more of a reveal and discussion about The Archives. The Q&A for 3.3.0 is later this week (the Q&A post is up on the forums right now).

As far as feedback goes, we are watching. We tend not to get involved around PTB/release times because we do not want to influence feedback. At most, we'll step in and clarify if someone got the details wrong, but we want to make sure that whatever feedback we get is from the community, not because we persuaded someone to like something.

We're still here and reading just about everything that gets posted, even if we aren't responding to every thread.

  • Are we both talking about this?

    https://youtu.be/q_fWpF83JEE?t=1835

It's because the memory is called The Hunger. You complete the challenges with lore attached to them to unless entries for that memory.

The 2k auric cells from last PTB was really a nice thing of you guys, hopefully it becomes standard for the upcoming PTBs to test out everything behind a paywall

It's already standard; none of the stuff we're looking to test is ever locked behind a paywall. It has always been unlocked for everyone for free, or we have given people the funds to get it.

  • Not exactly sure what you mean. The stuff we're looking to test in the PTB is always free. Freddy was free in the PTB when he was reworked, all of the Stranger Things characters were free as well, and everyone was given 2,000 Auric Cells on the PTB to test out the Rift.

If you mean why isn't everything free, it's because the PTB is for testing purposes. Say we're testing the Freddy rework. We wouldn't want people to go in and give The Clown or The Plague a try just because they're free. That would be counterproductive when we need feedback for Freddy. We need to keep the tests as focused as possible.

  • I don't see how you could. There's basically two ways she could be played.

    1) You don't cleanse. You're choosing to be permanently one hit away from death. She's still a 4.6m/s killer, has all the normal counterplay.

    2) You do cleanse, she has corrupt purge for a limited time. You can wait it out, you can stun her, you can dodge it. It's like a Huntress.

Either way, there's stuff you can do to avoid it and there's no guessing. If you get hit, it's because you were in a bad place and she outplayed you.

  • It's seems pretty decently far away for me. Are you playing on an ultrawide montior by any chance?

  • It's still an ongoing process. It was mentioned recently that the Kindred change that was originally suggested wouldn't be happening, but we do our best to keep solo players in mind while creating new content (and updating existing content). Things like the hooked survivor being able to reveal Ghost Face and being able to see where a portal is being cleansed against the Demogorgon are small details to help solo players get the same info as SWF groups. A group on voice chat could communicate this info anyway (e.g. he's camping being the hook waiting to stalk you, be careful), so it only serves to bring solo players closer to the same level.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

Also, we combined the SWF and solo buttons on the menu. /s

No they are not a small company, close to 600 employees. I am sorry but that isn't small and i am sure if i look up canadian definitions they tend to agree that anything with 250+ employees is considered big.

@Mookywolf already explained to you why community managers do exist so no point in repeating.

While this is true, employees in the company is not people on the team. There are a ton of different projects going on at BHVR, not everyone is working on DbD.

  • Not really, no. Letting someone die just because of Dying Light is counterproductive. That extra person would far outweigh the action speed penalty.

  • To play Devil's Advocate, if they're really tunneling, it's going to do its job anyway. Either they'll pick you up and it'll activate, or they'll leave you on the ground for 60 seconds and give your teammates a ton of time to do generators.

Meanwhile, if it stays active whenever I'm on the ground, I'm free to jump in front of the killer and block them as they're chasing a different survivor. If they down me, I'm literally untouchable forever. Someone can come save me or I can unbreakable myself back up. If they pick me up, I DS them and run off into the sunset like a bigshot. That would definitely be abused.

  • We've actually made a statement the day The Archives were released on the PTB. Odds are you've probably seen this around:

Our goal for our first Tome and Rift is to base our completion targets on the average daily play time of 1 hour/user, provided by our internal data. Given this, completion of The Rift and all its rewards should take roughly 70 to 80 hours of gameplay, provided players accomplish Challenges from each role.

We want everything to feel achievable within a reasonable amount of time for all players, to not feel like any reward is unfairly out of reach. We will be gathering all sorts of feedback to ensure The Archives is enjoyable for many updates to come, for all players.

You can find this statement here: https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/welcome-to-the-archives

We have also released a survey following the PTB to collect feedback on The Archives to help us fine tune it. Nobody is ignoring feedback; there would be no point to holding a PTB and getting a survey together if we didn't want to take feedback. There's a lot going on right now between The Archives, the Nurse changes, Medkit changes, etc. We aren't going to be able to respond to every post.

  • My personal favourite would be a map that shows the auras to other survivors and Detective's Hunch (especially after the next update). Do one generator, you see all the auras, every other survivor sees the auras as well. That Ruin ain't lasting long. Seeing exactly where each of them are saves so much time.

  • Typically every few months or so. They aren't on a consistent schedule. We'll always make sure to announce them ahead of time before they happen, though.

I know new players feel fear, I experienced it when I started during 2017 All Hallows eve

but the feeling is survivors, even new players and vets, should be scared of a killer consistently instead of a few times

That's not really possible, though. You can't consistently get scared by the same thing. Eventually your brains goes, "Why am I scared? I've done this a hundred times." I love horror games, Resident Evil 7 was one of my favourites; probably one of the best in the genre for spooks and scares (great atmosphere, pacing, etc.). But after playing it a couple times, it's just not scary to me anymore.

Although for what it's worth, I still see people who have played the game for thousands of hours get scared by killers like Michael Myers to this day.

  • You've basically said it yourself, but that stuff isn't really gone. Freddy has the same idea behind him. The difference is that you're hardened to the horror feeling. Something isn't going to stay scary forever, at some point it's going to stop being scary and start to feel like more of a game.

This still happens for a lot of new players, for what it's worth. I'd recommend checking out some footage from conventions where people are playing for the first time.

  • Ironically, the power was out when you posted that. Credit for trying, but the lights were still off.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

@Peanits I feel like survivor queue times are usually longer than killer queues on PS4. Is this a platform-related thing? Or is the time of day the deciding factor? Would it be possible for you to share statistics with us?

Definitely depends on various factors (rank, region, time of day, etc.), but the average shows that killer queue times tend to be longer across the board. We could look into possibly sharing those stats in the future, but it's sorta' tricky; there's no good way to show it because of all the variables that affect it. The average just shows the average and might not line up with what you experience based on where you live, what rank you are, what time it is, etc.

Your argument is invalid and has been disproven before because of the fact that they're adding this skin later in the year. They and others really couldn't care less if it's associated with the genre in the least.

To be fair, outfits are meant to fit with the lore of a character. In The Clown's case, he's a circus entertainer. It's not unreasonable for him to have worn a mascot outfit at some point in his life.

And now I'll go back to lurking in the shadows.

  • @Sheldor said:

And yet it still does not work all the time. Just finished a match where the highest survivor rank was 3 and we got matched with a rank 15 killer.
