Freddy isn't OP, you're just a noob who only complain. When you only can Survive a Match by Looping you should deinstall the Game, but don't blame it on the Killers smh.

    Found another Freddy main.

If you really think Freddy's snares are a problem, then clown is God tier

I don't. My issue with Freddy isn't just one thing, it's that he has so much in his kit that it's crazy. If Freddy just had snares or just could teleport I wouldn't be here complaining. But the fact that he can teleport directly to survivor objectives, shut those down, and then down you in seconds because the only tool survivors have to escape killers is hindered that's not fair.

There's literally no other killer that I think needs a nerf other than Freddy. I've even been supportive of other killers getting buffed. Like the Oni, for example. I was shocked his flick got taken away.

The only thing I got from your rant is what a unique and badass killer Freddy is. An actual threat since that's what killers should be. A killer that forces you to play differently. All around a balanced killer that counters bs map design and counters bs non mindgamable loops.

There's a difference between a killer that forces you to play differently (I.E: Nurse) and a killer that gives you no opportunity to do so. You can't loop snare Freddy. At all. You're basically just getting smacked twice and going down. There's zero counterplay.

  • @Cheeki_Beaky_Bird said:

Freddy is the ONLY killer in the game with a power that doesn't involve some sort of penalty to their movement.

There's no "should I place a snare here" thought process, or "ha I got rid of a bunch of snares! Now Freddy's going to miss out on value!" play to make. Freddy passively gets tremendous amounts of value all the time.

He gets 1/2 terror radius against awake survivors (this is HUGE, 16m closer before a survivor knows to book it is a lot of chase time even if you're going in a straight line). He forces survivors to either fail skill checks (terrible idea) or spend increasingly long times pseudo-healing each other (and only if one of you is awake...) or run across the map to pick up alarm clocks, or else suffer the penalties of falling asleep. What's worth noting, though, is that if survivors choose to play around these and stay awake all the time, Freddy *WINS BIG*, as these are such significant advantages as to completely eclipse other killers like Wraith.

If you do fall asleep, you're highlighted (not a huge deal, but can suck with trying to use bushes and whatnot), and just lose every chase.

Drop a pallet? Snare. Snare. Snare. Even as he's running after you he can set down snares (with NO movement penalty/cooldown!) that completely deny areas, or force you to eat a slow that lets him very quickly catch up (because, ya know, he gains on you twice as fast for a few seconds) to hit you. vault a window? Snare. Snare. Snare. You're immediately forced to leave it. LOOP ANYTHING? Snare. Snare. Snare. He now forces you to drop the pallet you're looping or take a hit because he immediately forces you to start eating Hindered status effects if you want to keep being near it. Even without the afterthought generator teleport BHVR added for no clearly apparent reason (IMO better to frequently fake the teleport to scare people off the gen for a couple seconds and only occasionally stick it after survivors are conditioned) Freddy is very strong.

Finally, someone with sense. I really wish killers would try the survivor side of things and see how difficult Freddy can be to go against.

  • A lot of these killers are coming onto this post to say, "git gud". So I'm leaving an offer for any Freddy mains to join me for some SWF. I'd love to see how y'all perform against him yourself. Since he's so easily counterable and boring it should be pretty easy to escape.

  • @Masterkit said:

is a bad bait. if u dc take the consecuences aswell.

Its legit. And anyone arguing against it is a Freddy/Killer main that knows he's an easy 4k and want to make sure that goes untouched.

The game is clearly killer-sided and with all the survivor nerfs it'd be nice to see some killer changes as well.

    Define “overperforming”

    because he’s a viable killer isn’t a reason.

Getting 4ks nearly every match is not the definition for viable. A viable killer is one that has the potential to every match, but requires some skill to pull off. Freddy requires no skill. At all.

This guy prob got this idea from Useless... btw he made a video of him “bullying” survivors with the biggest slowdown Freddy build, wait for it.... as a rank 9... NERF FREDDY PLZZZZZ. Sigh fr though Freddy is fine. Useless and YT’bers like him always say something is “boring” if they don’t like it. It’s really ridiculous. Nothing is boring. Unless you show me you’re escaping 99/100 times in solo queue against a certain killer then nothing is boring. Seriously it’s just an excuse to nerf somebody. People used to say spirit was boring but now that she got nerfed they don’t say that no more they now put all the attention to Freddy which he is completely fine where he is. Freddy is fine.

    Another Freddy main. Lol.

  • @samination said:

I think he's fun both ways. For me, doc is the most annoying. They watered him down but I still can't stand him.

  • @OutcastEric said:

Here we go with this s*** again. No he does not need nerfs! They've said before they dont want chases to last all game. One survivor shouldn't be able to 1v1 the killer

Yes he does. Its so easy to spot the Freddy mains. Lol And the only time a chase lasts all game is if the killer 1) Sucks 2) Overcommits 3) Breaks every pallet denying bloodlust 4) Is on Blood Lodge or a map with a god loop.

  • @MysticMusician said:

Freddy is the killer I hate going against the most. Mostly because of the fact that his sleep is time based, and not skill or action based. You are guaranteed to get slept no matter what, and then you are oblivious. Like, as soon as I get into a game and see that sleep timer, I already know I ain't gonna have any fun that game. It's very hard to escape Freddy games, and most of them from my experience end in 4Ks unless someone finds the hatch.

Exactly. There's no barrier to entry with Freddy. He's basically handed the win unless he's purposefully trying to lose. If Freddy doesn't need a nerf than certain perks do.

Perhaps perks like BBQ/Pop/Infectious could be on cooldowns.

  • @Nick said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1107782#Comment_1107782

You nerf him based on 'stats'? Which stats? Kill ratio?

Yes. BHVR has stated they're dedicated to trying to create a balanced game. You can't be balanced if your average is nearly 4k. Survivors always get hit hard with nerfs. Its time for some killers to be adjusted.

  • I figured a lot of these replies would be from Freddy mains just wanting their free 4ks. The killer mains know he's their go-to for an easy win and obviously wouldn't want him nerfed.

    But anyway...

He's not balanced when he's overperforming.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

I don't think he's overpowered, just boring to verse, BOOM he hooked somebody, BOOM he's teleporting to your gen, BOOM he has PGTW, and that over and over again...

Right. But with the quality of survivors I get in solo queue that's impossible to bounce back from. There's not even a chance.

  • @Verconissp said:

...Is this a Bait thread or wut, I don't find him Op at all in the slightest, and i know this as i do play both sides, and knowing my luck i rarely, "RARELY" ever verse a freddy, a Decent one but not the best... He's fine the way he is

Not bait, the proof is in the stats. He's overperforming.

  • @Nobsyde said:

I agree in principle to remove the struggle phase: it is only an annoyance which doesn't add anything to the player experience - in fact it just adds to the frustration of the hooked survivor especially if there's a lag spike or a fake unhook which could lead to an abrupt end of the struggling.

This being said, it wouldn't solve the suicide problem at all - players would just run straight to the killer to get downed again (...robbing you of a safe unhook in the process), or even become spiteful to other players.

The only solution to avoid throwing / suicides is a good ranking system, that's what I think.

If a survivor is throwing themselves at the killer though that still buys enough time to do a gen or two. So it'd be better than them getting hooked once and taking themselves out of the game. The killer is already on the way to the rest of us.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Play the game if you want it to end. It's like the original Jumanji lol.

In the fog you must wait until the killer hooks your mates.

  • Hi. Red rank killer here. I love new ruin. Stop complaining.

  • Why not both?

  • Oh good lord.

First of all, Otz only applied pressure on the first 2 gens that were side by side and the last gen. Middle game he relied too heavily on Bitter Murmur and only downed survivors out of position/doing nothing. This left the other survivor to go and do all the gens.

Otz isn't dumb. He knows very well that you can start slugging to buy time. He did it before ruin was nerfed. And he didn't even use old ruin all that often.

He also wasted time chainsawing injured survivors when a simple M1 would have sufficed.

And that map is terrible for Billy due to all the obstruction.

  • Does it matter?

  • To be fair, you did try to kill them and deny them of: points, pips, etc...

  • It could be location-based comms. But to ensure killers aren't harassed they cant literally hear whats being said but could hear voices kinda like the perk Whispers. Itd give survivors an edge, yes, but it'd also give killers an extra tracking tool.

  • When we lose its always easy to blame the 2nd entity - SWF.

  • @Carpemortum said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1039162#Comment_1039162

So the game itself is over?

Killers whole objective is to down, hook, repeat.

If BBQ is your biggest concern there, you've got a lot to learn, because THAT ######### is easily avoidable.

What do you want killers to do, hook someone then ######### off to the other side of the map? Or just follow one survivor around?

Survivors dont take nerfs in stride. People still cry about MoM, Balanced Landing, multiple heal nerfs. And threads are made all the time.

I'm talking about the mindless way killers have been playing for a long time. I don't care about BBQ, Ill loop you into submission if you dare bug me while popping a gen.

Killers need to find a new way to play. Killers are still getting their 4ks. If you cant because of one perk that was only clutch in like 1% of games then you need to find a new one to play.

  • @Carlosylu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1039162#Comment_1039162

Yes, killers are babies, but so are survivors in due time, remember BL and Insta Heals complains? I remember the "Let's 4 men toolbox Gen Rush to complain" threads don't you?

The problem here is that we see each other as the ones who "need a punishment" and that's dumb AH. We need the attention on actual problems and bugs, not on each other...

BTW, they're not using the moris to 4k as a NEED, they're using them to send a message, and that's the problem, most red rank killers can 3k+ without Ruin or mori, but the tunneling, camping and insta moris along with lobby dodging in an already long A$$ queue times is increasing due to this "Ruin Nerfed" issue.

Lobby times are increasing? They've decreased in my experience. I wait just under 5 mins for a game now. Its most likely due to the battlepass, but that just shows killers don't plan to go anywhere.

  • Freddy. BBQ/Pop on someone who can teleport straight to objectives is unfair. Freddy should be able to teleport to his desks, not straight to gens. And then he can teleport the entire game.

  • I treat them like a red rank survivor. You don't learn how to get better when you're handed the game.

  • Just let them use their moris. Lol. If a killer HAS to use a mori to get a 4k they're not a good killer and once they run out they'll be out of red ranks where they belong.

I have zero issues with the new ruin when I play killer. In fact, as a Tru3ta1ent build GF/Wraith main I love it. Its even better than old ruin as the point of the build is to keep survivors off of gens and healing.

But I think threads like these prove my point that killers are indeed the biggest babies. Lol. Survivors have taken their nerfs in stride but killers get a ruin nerf and literally can't handle the game anymore. The days of down survivor, hook survivor, bbq, wash/rinse/repeat are over, killers. Adapt or find a new game.

  • @HauntedMandalorian said:

If a Killer needs Ruin, then that person sucks; no doubt about it. I've been in plenty of matches where the Killer disconnected because the Hex Totem was cleansed within the first minute of the match. It's lame.

Yeah, I've definitely had my fair share of those matches. They act like a 4k isn't possible at all without ruin. Lol

  • @woundcowboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/122578/killers-are-the-biggest-babies

    Where do i begin....

    • you say survivors have been “nerfed” since release, which translates to absurdly broken things like infinites and Mettle being removed. These aren’t nerfs, they are fixes. Killers have continually received nerfs over the past few months.
    • as for gen speeds- you do understand that some killers have bad mobility, right? Killers like Michael and pig are not winning matches against competent survivors on farm maps. Even with the best chases, gens are too spread out to protect.
    • lastly, you say killers don’t adapt when in reality, survivor crying and unwillingness to adapt caused the recent barrage of killer nerfs. I have adapted to the meta, and I make frequent use of slugging and lame play. The meta change is not going to be fun for anyone

    Where do I begin....

    1) Just because I said survivors have received nerfs doesn't mean I don't acknowledge killer nerfs as well. However a lot of them are justified in my opinion.

    2) I've said to another user in this post that I agree that some killers need a rework and that there are definitely some balance changes that need to be seen.

    3) The reason for the ruin nerf is because we had a lot of killers depipping on purpose and going into low rank games and survivors were getting absolutely demolished by ruin. Those are the survivors that complained. And rightfully so. Ruin is devestating when you're just learning the ropes.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/122578/killers-are-the-biggest-babies

Sure they can try different strategies, but are they fun? The examples you mentioned are boring as ######### to play that way. The hit and run style with Wraith is a snoozefest, and doing 3 gen setups with hag and Trapper is probably the most boring and mindless playstyle In the game. I don't mind new ruin, I'm just levelling plague and playing Freddy, Billy at the moment until I can get corrupt for all my killers, but it was mostly about how ruin let certain killers play in a nicer and less bot-like way

Uh. So robotically going through the motions of patrol gens/find survivor/down survivor/hook survivor/bbq/wash, rinse, repeat... is fun. OK. I think you're confusing "fun" with "easy".

  • @NMCKE said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/122578/killers-are-the-biggest-babies

I think both sides have their ups and downs with the game, but I don't think it's fair to say one side is whiny over a necessary change they made happen via feedback.

    Some Examples:

Mettle of Man was extremely OP at launch, and players, especially killer players, complained. It's not fair to say they are whiny because the perk is legitimately broken and needs immediate balancing.

Legion had no counterplay at launch, and players, especially survivor players, complained. Again, it wouldn't be fair to say they are whiny over a killer that basically said, "Regardless of your skill, you're going down after my power recharges a few times"

Overall, complaining is different from whining, and if players didn't complain about game balance, then they wouldn't get any light from the developers and the game would remain in an unbalanced state. 😁

We have one guy that literally wants to declare war on the majority of survivors that had no influence on the game whatsoever. Lol

  • @Deadeye said:

Just one thing about the Ruin debate. I don't see how Ruin makes killers worse. It is not increasing your lunge or movement speed, everything you do is as you do without ruin. The only thing Ruin did was buying you time. Even if it was cleansed within one minute. At least there were probably 1-2 survivors walking around to search for it. If you hoooked one person and Ruin is gone: fine. The game just started to roll. 1 on hook, at least 1 to unhook, 50% slowdown.

This is gone now. Almost every game begins with 1 gen done after the first hook, second done most likely during the second chase. Apply pressure? Tell me how to pressure 4 survivors.

Really curious about the next stats release. I'm expecting to see something like "average game time needed per gen pop: 50 seconds"

Ruin made killers worse because it allowed them to rest on the robotic method of winning the game. This is no longer the case. And if you want survivors off of gens completing a different objective (cleansing totems) I recommend you start breaking Devour Hope or NoED. Killers are constantly talking about how they want more objectives for survivors...well, if killers all start bringing DH or NoED survivors HAVE to cleanse the totems or they're punished for gen rushing. Especially in the case of NoED.

And survivors messaging you after the game to complain is not a valid excuse to not bring it if you want to buy yourself more time/secure your victory.

It's not just ruin, ruin is the last straw. Toxicity, nerfing, serving only new survivors.. that with matchmaking from hell.... i'm going for rank 17 or lower. It was fun when i played at that ranks.

Serving only survivors? If that was the case you'd still have double window loops/insta-heals/OP Mettle of Man/Infinites/no bloodlust/original balanced landing, etc...

  • Inb4 they halt entity progress on the hook to discourage camping.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

Never mentioned tunneling or camping. Amusing people call it that when it's potentially defined entirely differerently by someone else. You call going after the injured recently unhooked survivor tunneling. I call it common sense unless the unhooker was also injured. Then I've no issue going for them instead. Then again taking someone out of the game early is beginning to look more attractive the more i play so we will see. And no, I've no idea who that streamer is. As for end game messages, I don't care anymore. I play how I like to play.

Well now we're just arguing semantics. But you do you, dude.

  • @leyzyman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1019560#Comment_1019560

Alright. That is fair. Nurse and spirit were, and still are, powerful. Some things do need to change.

But I will rebuttle with this:

You said that "but some killers definately needed a nerf, too". But what about survivors?

I agree with what you said. Compared to at launch, survivors have taken a beating. But if nurse and spirits nerfs were necessary, then survivor's ability to infinate at 2 windows and pallet vacuum were just as needed.

I agree that people like clown and pig need a buff completely.

The only problem is, this doesn't answer the original question.

So, I must ask. If survivors are allowed to complain about problems they find in the game, why is it that killers are considered babies, in your opinion, if they complain about ruin?

Also, a quick answer for the playstyle thing you were talking about. Yes, killers can slug and set up a 3-gen scenario, but there are 3 issues with that:

    1. While playing killer, the game does not reward people for playing like that.

    2. Slugging and 3-gening is not a fun way to play for either killer or survivor.

    3. People in the community complain about killers doing stuff like that. This causes a mentality that you shouldn't play that way.

Well the funny thing is...I never said survivors weren't babies. I just called killers the biggest babies. Mostly for clickbait, but there is an ounce of truth. If you look at the gameplay from the game's inception until now you've seen that killer has gotten some major adjustments and survivors have gotten continuously nerfed. Also survivors are forced to adapt to the playstyle of the killer, not the other way around. The killer is control of the game and anyone that thinks otherwise is foolish. Survivors only have the ability to take control when you let them. Like in the case of committing way too long to one survivor.

In response to your three questions:

    1) You're right, but the ranking system is busted anyway so why do you care about ranks? I don't. They mean nothing. Ditch your mentality that a good rank is the goal and you'll be set free. Ranks. Mean. Nothing. Just play the game and get your 4k and make the game fun for yourself.

    2) This is subjective, It's not always going to be about fun, either. Sometimes you just gotta do what it takes to win. It's not all peaches and cream for survivors, either. I personally don't like saving survivors that get downed, but I often find myself doing it.

    3) As I've stated before in this thread, if you leave your messages on public or choose to participate in post-game chat I have little empathy for you.

Except, most killers won't really want to tunnel you off the hook if you get farmed right in front of them. USUALLY what happens is, you get farmed, and they down you and go after the person who farmed you. They do that as a punishment to the unhooker, as it cucks them of benevolence because they didn't get the safe unhook.

And yet I was completely unphased and still here. Lol

Survivors seem to think killers should abide by a "killer should make the game fun and not boring for survivors code/ruleset". Can't tell you how many messages I've gotten like that in addition to being called sweaty. I prefer playing competitively to have fun. Don't like it, not my problem. I'm here to kill survivors.

All 4 survivors down 2 mins into the match, not my problem. I don't care if you waited 40 mins in the lobby. Your all getting hooked and I'm moving onto the next match. I get gen rushed in 4 mins by SWF with no downs or hooks, I reserve the right to stop playing and/or end the match. Think it biased, unfair, being a sore loser? I don't care. I'm not here for survivors entertainment. I'll just move on to the next match until it's no longer fun for me.

    1) You sound like you watch a lot of GamingwithJayTV and 2) I have no empathy for you when it's a personal choice to leave your messages on.

You're the killer. It's your game. You make the calls. It's not a bannable offense ot camp/tunnel. It's frowned upon because there's not a ton of counterplay to this if you want to be altruistic. If you choose to tunnel one survivor and/or face camp and only end up with 1k or a depip then that's totally up to you. If in the process you get a 4k due to overly altruistic survivors then that's on the survivors. But again, you're the killer. It's your call.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

In the meantime, survivors are mass Dc'ing vs doc again

I've always taken that as a compliment, personally. I have no idea why this frustrates people. With the exception being Rift challenges. Admittedly I did get frustrated when 3/4 attempts at the sacrifice all survivors in the basement challenge went awry because survivors decided to d/c instead.

  • @Omans said:

    Nah, survivor main. Just stop.

Good killer players will still get plenty of 4ks and 'win' at rank 1. I've been playing without ruin since the nerf announcement. Plenty of 4ks. Know why? Matchmaking is a joke right now. Rank reset was changed so more people are in higher ranks. People are getting matched in games they don't deserve to be in.

The thing is, now, after the ruin change, if a killer gets matched with 4 survivors that are equally skilled, that killer has to outperform the survivors by a wide margin in order to win.

So then what's your issue? This post clearly doesn't apply to you. Lol Unless you're genuinely upset that you're winning? The same advice goes for survivors, by the way. If you want you can totally hop into one of my SWF parties and you can hear me ######### my team out for making stupid mistakes. Git gud or GTFO. Well, not really. I'll play with anyone. But don't play the game if you have no capacity to adapt and learn.

I have those matches too, but there is no real stress in it. You don't feel helpless, you feel in control almost all the time as survivor. You can leave a game when you want by dying on hook with no real punishment, but a killer has to stick it through to the end.

Survivors objectives are mostly just holding M1 and interacting with something.

Every single aspect of what the killer does, has to be perfect, they have almost no room for error, but as a survivor you can make plenty.

There is skill to survivor don't get me wrong, but to even remotely compare them on a level of frustration and sweat and effort required is just not comparable.

The only time I ever feel in control as a survivor is when the killer is acting predictably and I can continue completing objectives with ease. That's not on me, that's on the killer.

And killers can make errors. Like the Legion scenario I mentioned in my original post. They got gen rushed for 2/3 gens for 1) Whiffing on their first ability during my sprint burst bait and over committing to me. He then decided to slug me (And the guy that came to save me) to buy more time. It worked.

And killers can totally quit the game. They just don't get points for it. But killers not being able to just walk out and take the points makes sense. Its the killer's match. That and from a gameplay perspective having killers take the L and receive points would make for a lot of really #########, short games with no substance.

That's why I just wait for the grab now. I'm not playing by "survivor rules".

What survivor rules? Lol. You're the killer! You're the one in control. But you can't just swing blindly either and hope for a 4k. You know the survivor threats and have to adapt.

Sorta other way around. Killers get accustomed to losing and failing and struggling so much, that they become numb to the prospect of losing at all.

So you either have people sticking around to become god tier killers, or people just losing interest in the role. They may try survivor and like that because it's less stressful, or they may just leave the game.

Thing is, why is the survivor the least stressful and intense role in a horror game? That baffles me.

Don't confuse "Easy" with words like stressful, frustrating, and so on though please. There is skill to playing survivor no doubt I play them too; but you definitely don't have to get anywhere close to as sweaty, and you don't get anywhere close to the kind of post game chat toxicity should you not mute it.

I think that's more of a societal issue where we live in an age of participation trophies and rewards for standard behaviour. If you can't be instantly good at killer and get frustrated at the prospect of trying to get better...then perhaps DbD isn't the game for you. At least killer-wise anyway.

The game isn't stressful for survivors when you play the robotic meta killer. Survivor easily becomes stressful (And fun!) when you have a killer that breaks the mold and goes against expectations. You have no idea how hard it was for me in the Legion game I mentioned above where I had to juggle between attempting to do gens and getting teammates back up and trying to stabilize. I can't be everywhere at once.

I agree with you on the last point. But again, it's really a non-issue because you can turn messages off. Lol Anyone that complains about post-game toxicity is doing it to themselves.

If they have BT it's not an unsafe hook. The fact you look at it this way is why you lose as killer.

Go for the guy that made the save. If you hit them before they finish the save then you down them and take their hook. If you got for the guy that got saved and they end up having BT, then you just took the bait and failed to capitalize on the rescue.

I'd also mention that having 3 survivors uninjured and 1 survivor injured is not as good as having two survivors injured and two survivors uninjured. If you just tunnel the same person then everyone else is free to continue with objectives. If you have multiple people injured their little bracket of invinciblity is removed and they can't make risky plays.
