  • 50% louder than 0% is zero, yes, but 50% louder than the base value is 150%. If the current value is 0%, then 50% louder than the base value, added to the current value of 0%, is 50% of the base value. That's what it means.

    @Massquwatt said:

Like many said the perks are additive. Honestly both really need a slight rework in their descriptions. Drop the % because it only confuses people and instead just measure it by "points" or something to that effect.

Or just add the phrase "of the base/default value".

Isn't huntress's lullaby a ring? I remember people using monitor and abuse with her because it would mess with people sometimes.

It's not supposed to be. As I understand it, the whole point of a lullaby is that it's supposed to cover an area centered around the killer and cannot be disabled or reduced in any way.

    apparently there is.

i never knew that was a lullaby, i always assumed it was just a part of his Terror Radius...

I'm the one who helped test that out and I can guarantee he does, indeed, have a lullaby. It seems to be bugged at the moment, though, because it plays in a ring around him, as opposed to how it works with Huntress and Nightmare.

She ignores pallets, windows, and walls so when playing Nurse she changes the rules. And you'll have to break LOS and to the weirdest moments. She does break the rules but you have a chance against her and counterplay.

She changes the way you're used to playing, which is how every killer should work (in theory). They should all have different counters, to make the game significantly different if you're playing against different killers. In practice, nearly every killer can be countered by doing the same thing. The ones that aren't are complained about until they're nerfed into the ground, so that survivor gameplay remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, killer gameplay is boring as hell, because no matter which killer you choose (apart from the ones that survivors complain about), survivors are only ever going to do one thing, which counters you every single time.

Can you imagine if other games were like this? If, no matter which character you picked, no matter what their powers were, you'd be stuck doing the exact same thing if you were playing against/as any other character? Sounds boring.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

She does break the rules of the game. The god ones are rare. But there's not enough active criticizim and nerfing her again would likely be terribly difficult.

She does break the rules of the game.

No, she doesn't. You've just been led to believe every killer should be counterable in the exact same way no matter what.

This is why killers can't really have innovative designs. Every killer has to be designed around the fact that survivors only know how to use one strategy and refuse to try anything else.

I don't like these arguments that go like "Nurse is the only killer that can keep up with really good swf's'".

Really good swf's maybe play in tournaments, but really good swf's are very rare in your usual dbd sessions.

God Nurses are also very rare, but even if i play with my very experienced friends in a swf it's usually gg against a good Nurse with meta perks and add-ons. That's not my definition of "keeping up with".

She's also not as hard as people say, i don't play her regularly because i hate the fatigue but i started to kill people after my 2nd match with her. Sure you need to put some hours into her to win against very good survivors who know the counterplay, but even the counterplay is not that strong anymore once the Nurse realizes patterns or comes close enough .

So, to be clear, even though they're both rare, only one definitely needs to be nerfed because you and your experienced friends can't win against her. Do I have that right?

  • Pretty sure mobile has its own forum. This is for the PC/console game.

  • For the record, Nurse is not "excused". She has a unique counterplay that survivors are not used to and refuse to learn or consider. A lot of this could be solved by people playing her, understanding how she works, and then trying out counters they came up with until they figured out how to counter her. You know, how experts recommend (and do).

Unfortunately, I know for a fact that will never happen, so what's going to happen instead is we're going to get more of these threads until she's as weak as Wraith was on release.

    Have you actually played Nurse?

  • 2v8 would have to be its own game, meaning it'd take years to develop. Imagine, two Cannibals. Or imagine literally any other killer trying to go up against 7 bodyblocking survivors.

That seems even weirder to me. I wouldn't waste my fingers typing something that nobody can read.

  • Just give me the bloodpoints that I would get for sacrificing them since they realistically would not escape otherwise.

DBD just confuses the hell out of me sometimes...

We have this argument: "Rank doesn't matter"

    • I am against this argument. I wouldn't pair a rank 10-15 against a rank 1-4.
    • But then at rank 1, you have teammates that play worse than those guys. If I learned anything, it's not to judge a book by its cover.
    • I play in red ranks, I've seen my share of boosted animals, both as killer and solo survivor.

There are ways to GUESS a person's rank by the way they play, sure, but it's not always an accurate guess as even though they are red rank, they play worse than green ranks.

Nonetheless, if I encounter those guys I tend to give them hatch.

We have this argument: "Rank doesn't matter"

"Rank doesn't matter" is an oversimplification because it's easier to say than "Rank is not representative of skill, although higher skilled players appear more often in higher ranks, due to the way ranking works in the first place". I have found that many people don't read past the first sentence of a paragraph, especially if it goes on for longer than a line or two (like this one), so it's no wonder people come up with these sayings.

Unfortunately, bad-faith actors exploit that by either being overly pedantic and pretending they don't get the point, or by trolling people who make their point with long comments that leave little to no room for misunderstanding (again, like this one), so it's kind of a catch-22. Then there are people who genuinely don't get it, which muddies the waters a bit.

Nonetheless, if I encounter those guys I tend to give them hatch.

You shouldn't. Those guys I faced? Their ranks were probably the result of killers being merciful over and over again. Eventually, they faced a killer who completely destroyed them, and it sure as hell wasn't fun. No, I don't know for certain, but a lucky streak only lasts so long until it's broken.

EDIT: And, of course, when you make a long comment. The other person is likely to lose interest as well and stop replying (like what just happened here).

  • @Pilot said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2245438#Comment_2245438

    Yes, he does.

Killers can judge the survivor's skill. You should know that a killer can guess what rank you are by the way you play.

"This guy plays really bad, can't loop, drops pallets without looking behind, he must be a low rank in my rank 1 killer game" - This is my way of thinking when I face these kinds of survivors. Most of the time I give them hatch as they have no business being in my rank 1 games.

It's how a killer knows who to chase & who to not chase. In this case, he knew he was bad, he knew was gonna go down quick, he knew he probably didn't have DS. There's plenty of clues.

The OP said it himself that the killer constantly went after him. I wonder why...

You'd think that'd be enough, but a lot of survivors in higher ranks are boosted as hell. I remember this one particular trial (even wrote a thread about it) with survivors who felt like they were complete newbies. I let them escape (except one). Turned out half of them were my rank, the others were higher. The highest was rank 6.

You can read the story here, although it's pretty much what I wrote above:

Going for the weak link is the sure way to win. Was this toxic, considering you were rank 12? yes, perhaps?

The killer has no way of knowing the survivors' ranks until the trial is over.

stealth apply to all killers you can also stealth doctor. but you cant loop spirit, that's the point

It is exceedingly difficult, bordering on impossible, to stealth the Doctor, unless you always use Calm Spirit or are near a locker. Each killer requires a different playstyle. That's a good thing.

  • No, because that seems bizarre to me. If I didn't swear before, why would I do it now that it's "not allowed"?

  • I obviously meant while playing (and losing) regularly.

  • @TheMadCat said:

Sometimes, it's the lowest. I'm a rank 20 Killer, I very rarely play Killer. But when I do, I usually got a group of three red rank and one brown rank.

That just sounds like the rank search expanding until all ranks are allowed. Keep in mind that nobody can derank below rank 16 any more, so when you pick up killer, you basically have nobody near your own rank to play with.

  • Best: Nurse

Worst: Probably Blight or Legion, mostly due to their names

Every killer was considered overpowered when the game launched, even when killer shack had 2 windows, game had no entity blocker and you could fast vault just by holding shift, all loops had 2 pallets, people still managed to die and cry op killer.

I know, but the Wraith was a special case because of the nature of the complaints. Specifically, that he "ignored game mechanics" (in reference to the terror radius). It's the same complaint you might hear regarding the Nurse, Spirit, Huntress, and so on, because survivors (talking about the vocal ones who complain nonstop about killers) expect every killer to be exactly the same.

  • @justalilbit123 said:

I still can't believe we live in an age where WRAITH is considered overpowered. Even if its just by forum trolls.

Wraith was considered overpowered when the game launched as well, as I mentioned.

  • We've come full circle. I remember when DbD was launched, playing the Wraith was occasionally compared to hacking because he "ignored a fundamental game mechanic" (terror radius). Wraith was quickly established as the weakest killer in the game shortly thereafter.

  • I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. How does PvE factor into this?

Meh not really aggreing with Frankenstein, if youre not talking about the doctor but his creature. The creature was more a victim than a coldblood killer ( such as Rin i know )

I meant the stories, not characters. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Bram Stoker's Dracula. Although I suppose the distinction is irrelevant.

Poor OP, it only took them 1 year and 3-4 months just to get a response from someone sympathizing with them.

Ultrawide is a niche market, with niche problems. This is why you shouldn't buy such technologies (ultrawide monitors, VR, brand new GPUs) until if and when they become mainstream, or at least a bit more streamlined, because they're very prone to problems. All ultrawide users are essentially doing live, unpaid beta testing of the technology while developers learn to deal with/fix its problems.

Ah, I see. I've modded, but the good kind (again, Skyrim and the like). But I've never "hacked" and have no interest in doing so, so I wasn't sure how such things work.

Thank you for accepting my apology. It's actually bothered me for weeks. It was a heated subject and I should have phrased some of my thoughts and comments better. I may love debate, but I never mean to legitimately upset anyone.

It probably doesn't matter (and I can understand why it wouldn't) but should you ever like to start over and ask me to clarify some of the things I said, I'd be happy to oblige. If not that's cool too.

I've never hacked either, it just makes sense. Texture files would never be on a server, they're way too big (they are, in fact, the main reason why games are so big nowadays; the actual code is made up of characters that each take up 1 byte of space).

It's up to you. I'm genuinely indifferent.

Not sure, I don't know how the framework is designed. I thought perhaps it would be like the map situation, wherein even if I don't have a certain killer I still get offered the map that they come with. I'm also going by past GTA V experience, where you'd see all manner of nonsense despite not having hacked your game to match that of the hacker's game.

    • As an aside, this may sound strange, but I appreciate that you've responded. I know that we got off to a very poor start and I've regretted that since it happened. I know that you're a well-regarded member of this community and I'm sure there's a good reason for that. I'd like to apologize for the insensitivity of some of the remarks I made when I was discussing the LGBQT subject with you. I think I was just having a bad day and put my foot in my mouth. You don't have to forgive me, but I do regret that I said things that made you and a couple of others doubt my sincerity and, for whatever it's worth, I apologize for offending you.

It can't work. Texture files are local. Hackers in GTA V can do things by tricking the game into enabling noclip, for example, which is a command that most games inherently have, but they can't upload textures onto a server and then force those textures onto you.

PS: I tend not to look at or remember usernames. I find that it helps me stay objective. If you hadn't mentioned all that, I literally would not have recognized/remembered you. Apology accepted.

Just as you read something doesn't mean it means the same to me. No where does it state time frame. If you got time frame out of grief section, good for you. I don't see time it. If you like forked tongue people that is on you. I like it written out right not in contradictory terms.

It's not contradictory, it only seems that way to you because your starting point is "all these things are griefing". Everyone else understood the implication (that the devs - the people whose opinions matter in determining what is or isn't bannable - don't consider tunneling, slugging, camping, etc., to be griefing), you didn't.

I got "D's" in basic English for this exact reason. You say one thing then demand another. Right there I agree you state not "BANNABLE OFFENCES" but then state "GRIEF" and describe bannable offences. How can you say not bannable then describe bannable and then dismiss it? Your logics is flawed.

Her logic is fine. If it helps, think of the "not bannable" part to be exceptions.

You state these are not bannable offenses Camping, tunneling, and slugging. Yet state "Grief" offences then describe the offences that are not bannable??? If these cause grief during game play. If survivors disconnect due to camping, slugging, and tunneling: you contradict yourself. Obviously this caused the player grief and poor gaming experience. If not would they not have to stayed on. Then furthermore the game penalizes them for having a grief issue. Now tell me how grief is defined if not all right there as described???

Camping - causes grief due to poor gaming experience and us targeted by killer.

Tunneling : causes grief due to poor gaming experience due to being being targeted and repeatedly downed/hooked.

Slugging : causes poor gaming experience due to unsportsmanlike conduct. Refusing to hook the player and move on. Targeted for being upright in a moveable position and not on ground.

Yet these offences are bannable buy we at dbd choose to ignore them for whatever reasons.

Dude, a mod is literally telling you that isn't bannable. Do you want BHVR to get a lawyer to draft up the rules in legalese so they're incomprehensible to anyone who doesn't have a thesaurus nearby?

I stand corrected, there is another who can voice Dracula and is alive.

  • The only way a Dracula would be acceptable is if he were voiced by either Bela Lugosi or Sir Christopher Lee. Unfortunately, both of them are dead. Therefore, Dracula is off-limits.
