I think it’s more of a 80% survivors , 20% killers . On occasion I’ve been camped without any other survivors near or around the hook (and I’m not toxic)literally camped to death ,but I digress. Which is what I actually classify as camping. The killer being right there not even trying to go find other survivors just hanging out right there in the area until I die , after they’ve already kicked a gen, broke a pallet , searched the area, set some traps. I don’t classify that as camping unless they linger just to linger. I was jw why killers get upset when survivors hook rush because it seems like a plus for you guys, and a negative for me unless they manage to pull it off(which is about 50/50). I gotcha though I was curious, and didn’t know. That’s why I ask. Thanks for the answers guys! That's because most Survivors have made camping a strategy that works more often than not. Right now, the only way camping stops altogether is if most Survivors stop feeding campers for a protracted period of time.
Of course, knowing what most Survivors are like, they're much more likely to try to shame Killers into playing stupidly or bully the devs into punishing Killers for playing smart than they are to play smart themselves, because that would take actual effort. -

I see a lot saying break the totem try that on Lery's or Gideon's Meat Plant I don't fancy running around for 20mins if I am lucky to find 1 totem. Point is DS and NOED share 1 thing in common they both reward the person who plays badly when a Survivor gets downed they should get Hooked not be able to get a free escape when Survivors do all the Gens the Killer shouldn't suddenly be able to 1 shot down for not applying the proper map pressure.Tough titties. The fact that you can't be bothered to break the totem is not an argument for nerfing the perk beyond the state it is now. As it is now, Survivors can effectively shut down NOED before it even triggers. No Survivor perk has this type of weakness, no matter how powerful.

Yeah I honestly don’t come across that many campers ,so I believe it. What can you do though at that point if they are feeding themselves to you that wouldn’t be counterintuitive to your goal. I’m with you when I say they literally bring it upon themselves at that point. I also wouldn’t classify that as camping if you’re right there and they all swarm the hook after you just hung someone up. So I guess to further probe , you enjoy the hunt and chase then?
Most Killers enjoy chasing, yes. Fact is, Survivors created the camping problem, but they're unwilling to take responsibility for it.
-
You can nerf NOED yourself, just break the totem.

They force Killers to camp, and believe it or not, most Killers don't want to camp.

Not many video game challenges amaze me. This was an exception. Very well done, Tsulan.
-
Survivors created the camping problem by feeding campers since the game started. That is a fact. If they hadn't, Killers wouldn't camp as much, even with the Emblem system. Take responsibility, if you're one of those.
-
This was tried in another game and good players ended up getting screwed, because those who couldn't handle losing to them blocked them, greatly increasing their queue times.
-
Always try to get off the hook when you're first hooked. The Killer will be so impressed by your skill, he'll let you go.
-
If it doesn't guarantee a free unhook, it's camping.

Something stronger is needed to manage survivor loadouts in my opinion.Easy: Survivors can't use the same perks twice in a row. Each perk gets locked out for a number of trials equal to the total number of perks they have. And each Survivor gets locked out for a number of trials equal to the total number of Survivors they have available. Also, since we're going to force players to play in a way they don't want, each Survivor must complete 100 trials as Killer for every 10 trials they play as Survivor.
-
Sure, if you apply the same to Survivor perks and characters.

Indeed, it's very interesting how lag spikes seem to occur when I'm being chased or doing the chasing, and always working out in favor of the other side.

So if I could know before hand I could leave beforehandYou are not the only player in all of DbD. Get that through your thick head. Other people can and will abuse this.

I'm quite sure I do understand, but it really doesn't mean anything we literally can see their name has soon has we get into the match. It makes no difference to see it before hand.
The difference is that seeing the names beforehand is more likely to lead to public lists identifying Killers who do literally anything the Survivors don't like (like beating them) and claiming they're bad people, thus increasing their queue times. That way, if you DC too often, you get banned, like you should be.

And that's exactly the kind of feature that was abused. You are not entitled to blocking players you don't like if it means it will ruin the game for everyone.
Unfortunately like most the world I'm entitled to my own opinion, rather we agree is something entirely different. A simple let me see the killers name is honestly not that hard to accomplish has a human being if I do not wish to deal with someone who ruined my time I shouldn't have to. Is it easier in your mind for me to join and just rage quit? Because if I can see his name before hand he doesn't have to deal with me in the first place I can get a new lobby he gets a new player.
And then we get public "block lists" where anyone who dared do anything that the Survivors didn't like is put into (without evidence, naturally; guilty before innocent is the way of witch hunts). MLGA went the same way.

No, you can't be banned for camping. You can only be banned for:
- Cheating/Hacking
- Extremely toxic chat (death threats and the like)
- Holding the game hostage
- Too many DCs
- Griefing (for example, if you target the same player over and over again and make their trials as annoying as possible)
- Stream sniping
I think that's everything.

Why should you nerf the result of the Survivors' mistake? If the Killer is holding the game hostage, that's a reason for reporting them. If the Killer is taking advantage of the Survivors' lack of map awareness, that's a reason for the Survivors to play better. Neither is a reason to nerf capitalizing on a mistake. It's not the survivor mistakes, it's the fact that the build is designed to stalemate the game. If the survivor makes mistakes, then the killer should be killing people. That's not what happens here. Survivors make a mistake than get stuck in a 30 minute game because the killer doesn't play to win, merely play to not lose.
It is a Survivor mistake to leave three generators unfinished in a small area that the Killer can easily control. And again, if the Killer is holding the game hostage, you report them. It's not a reason to nerf a perfectly valid strategy.

If the devs were to for example make shakey skill checks an add on again and in turn making something like illusion pallets in t2/3 baseline Doc players will be encouraged to pursue a more engaging play style (it does sound op, none of his other add-ons would do the job though, he probably just needs a different mechanic or a base shock increase)Why should you nerf the result of the Survivors' mistake? If the Killer is holding the game hostage, that's a reason for reporting them. Camping is when the Killer doesn't allow for a free unhook.
-
That's a seven-minute clip. Can you be a little more specific?
-
I'll find some way to test that...
Yes, Killers holding the game hostage in that manner is a dick move, and they should be reported for it. However, the situation arose because the Survivors didn't think ahead. The 3-gen strategy doesn't need nerfing; people who hold the game hostage just need to be reported and banned.
-
You don't "snap out" of it. Madness slowly drains on its own when you're not doing anything. I don't think those Survivors were on Madness 2 because there were no hallucinations.
Source: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/MadnessThey can't protect the last 3 generators if they're all on different corners of the map because Survivors were smart when repairing them. That's what I mean by "map awareness". Sorry, but this is a non-problem.
I do agree that having the Doctor hold the game hostage in that manner is a pain in the ass, and that's why "holding the game hostage" is a reportable offense, but Survivors can and should avoid letting the game get to that point in the first place.I'd rather improve the netcode, because it would benefit the game as a whole.
-
I'm fairly certain you can go from Madness 2 to Madness 1 without the "Snap out of it" interaction. I've never reached Madness 2 as a Survivor, but as Killer, I've had Survivors go from Madness 2 to Madness 1 when I go easy on them and stop using Treatment mode. And yes, I do play Survivor, on occasion, though I haven't played the game for some time due to real-life problems.
If the strategy can be countered but isn't, then that's a player problem; not a game problem. No changes are necessary to a strategy that the other team refuses to counter. It'd be like if Killers started demanding a fix to Survivors healing in melee range because they refuse to hit them.
I'd argue that improving the netcode is better than removing this particular interaction.
-
Madness can be decreased, according to the wiki.
3 gen strat is countered by map awareness. Literally just break up generator clusters. Problem solved.
Vaulting is indeed buggy in that situation, and I understand how much of a pain in the ass it can be even without the Doctor.

Yes, it's the Survivors' mistake for going to where the Killer is and expecting to be able to walk all over them. I don't care how you justify it, if you go to where the Killer is, he's supposed to be able to stomp. That's an asymmetrical game - either the entire weak side gangs up on the strong side and there's a 50/50 chance they succeed at whatever they're doing, or they don't gang up and they lose.IT IS NOT A MISTAKE IF THEY ARE FORCED TO SAVE HIM.
Benevolence forces you to save people on first and second hooks, or else you depip. Killers exploit this. With the old survivor rank system based on BP, YES it is entirely the survivors fault for dying trying to save, but they also weren't forced to make the save either. They could punish the killer for camping by doing gens. But with emblems that backfires on survivors and they will depip or at best get a safety pip. Killers depip too but some people are so spiteful they would do that with no problem. When a killer can depip an entire lobby by just standing somewhere THAT IS A PROBLEM.
Also, gen rush is quite a bit worse now because of emblems too. You need to do 1 whole gen by yourself for silver Lightbringer, which is absolutely necessary to pip. Survivors gen rush each other now, not just the killer.
I know it's possible to pip without throwing yourself to the Killer. I also know it's possible to rescue from any Killer in any situation, provided you play smart. Last but not least, camping is entirely a Survivor-created problem. This is the problem they created by feeding campers. Now it's up to them to fix it.

Except "pallet looping" was not defined as "pallet vacuum". "Face camping" was defined as "standing in such a way that the unhook prompt is unavailable for the Survivors". It was an exploit that was fixed by the "swivel hook" update.Swivel hook fixed the specific instance of not getting an unhook prompt because the killer was standing in the trigger zone, but come on really dude? You are going to deny that a killer can't still just sit there and hit the guy as he is being saved? Or grab the guy doing the save? It's still an unwinnable situation.
The specific details of "face camping" are irrelevant because the discussion is around saving someone when the killer is standing right there. Borrowed Time is the only thing that can do something in this situation, and ONLY IF YOU GET THE UNHOOK! Every player needs to swarm the hook with BT for the guy to have any sort of chance to escape, and even then it's honestly slim. I've seen so many games, as survivor and killer, go completely FUBAR because everyone tries to save 1 guy like that. It's obscene how that rewards the killer so much. They go from barely a 1k to a guaranteed 4k. "Oh it's the survivors mistake for..." what? Trying to save someone? Chances are high they are doing it for the emblem, because you putting the guy on the hook and sitting there LITERALLY DEPIPS THEM. They have to save the guy if they want to pip, especially if you were such an awful killer that this is the one and only hook you had all game. Unless they never went down and did 3 gens by themselves, they won't pip that game unless they save the guy. The game forces them to make the save, and killers that exploit that get rewarded so insanely much for doing almost nothing. Every YT/stream has said in a video or on stream that camping is EASY. And it's rewarding. The 1 time survivors don't fall for it and just do all the gens and leave is completely outshined by the 50 other times survivors attempted to make a save and you got an easy 3k/4k.
Yes, it's the Survivors' mistake for going to where the Killer is and expecting to be able to walk all over them. There are two ways to balance something. You can either nerf it to bring it down to the same level as the rest, or buff everything else to bring everything to the same level and then make other changes based on that information. Due to the nature of SWF, the latter might work better than the former, but it'd require Killers to become so powerless (temporarily) that it might just kill the game altogether.I doubt they'd buff solo survivors without buffing killers. You'd have to be willingly blind not to see that they've been pandering to killers for the last six months. To suddenly drop that on its head? Yeah, I don't think so.
If by "pandering to Killers" you mean "addressing the imbalance issues plaguing Killers", then yes, I know they've been "pandering" to Killers. That doesn't change the fact that to balance SWF by buffing solo Survivors, you'd need to buff Survivors to the same level as SWF, collect data over a relatively long period of time, and only then resume addressing the imbalance issues plaguing Killers.
-
Although I like the idea, the problem is solo Survivors. Any suggestion regarding how to balance SWF has to take the following into account:
- Solo Survivors. You can't indirectly punish them.
- The Killer's rank relative to the group. SWF groups have longer queue times, which will naturally increase the search parameters, and likely put them up against Killers who are even easier to crush than average.
- The number of available players who would willingly go up against SWF. There are few, if any, players who would willingly go up against SWF all the time.
- Killers can't become too weak. They're already fairly powerless against SWF.

Face camping was named because the Killer would camp in front of the Survivor's face, but was defined as the exploit that blocked the unhook prompt.
