Answer the question. Do you think it's unreasonable to focus on the big problem instead of solving small issues that would further tilt the game in the Survivors' favor?
This just points out the entitlement hypocrisy again of one side over the other. You can't fix one sides issues without also fixing the other sides issues. You have to address both issues at the same time so that as you make changes you know that it won't unbalance other changes.
Since otherwise it's just a big circle jerk of endless buffs then nerfs around and around for each side which is where we're at now. If they make changes to the killers at the same time as survivors they can make sure that one doesn't out balance the other and require more work down the line.
That last part is what the extremists on both sides don't seem to understand or care about and it just causes more problems in the end.
Answer the question. Do you think it's unreasonable to focus on the big problem instead of solving small issues that would further tilt the game in the Survivors' favor?
This is a "yes/no" question. I failed to see either of those words in your answer. Once you answer it, you can then explain your reasoning. Here, I'll go first.
It's not unreasonable to fix the bigger problem first. Fixing Survivor problems might help Survivors in the short term, but in the long term, it's better if you start by putting Killers where they should be, so that the Survivor fixes don't make the game unbalanced to the point Killers put together another strike. -

You know I actually get that quiet often I could be playing survivor and talk about the balance issues and how hard it is to be a killer and I get called a “killer main” and I shut those people down and say no I just want some balance and a challenge to being a survivorAs it was with most people, but at one point you just shut it out. No point in arguing with those people.
-

In my opinion I honestly think it started when the community started separating themselves calling themselves “killer mains” and “survivor mains” if people would just call themselves “fellow fog travelers “ or “deadites” because the game is meant to be played on BOTH sides and when everyone plays BOTH sides people will start to know the issues of this game and come to agreementsTime for a history lesson.
The titles were not always self-imposed. Anyone who dared say anything about Killer issues or nerfing Survivors was deemed a "Killer main", and anyone who dared say anything about Survivor issues or nerfing Killers was deemed a "Survivor main". On this forum, people are labeled based on profile pictures.

Yep. It's dismissive. "Killers need buffs therefore there is absolutely no problems playing survivor." No, both sides need a fix.
Wrong. The argument is "Killer are in need of buffs for balance purposes more than Survivors are in need of solutions to their problems, therefore balance should take priority over Survivor issues". The fact that you believe camping and "tunneling" are balance issues says all I need to know about your understanding of the game. The fact that you use that lame ass excuse proves his point that anytime a survivor or anyone posts something that some killer mains disagree with they resort to insults. Both camping and tunneling are gameplay issues resulting from how the game is designed.
The killer has to tunnel and or camp because of lopping etc. The survivor has to do those things because they can''t really lose the killer and od an evade style of hide and seek because of map design etc. No one is going to take you seriously unless and until you and the other stop resorting to insults because you can't debate.
Tunneling is not a thing; it's called playing smart, going after the weakest link, taking out the easy target. Asking Killers to play stupidly is not reasonable.
Camping is a Survivor-created problem with a Survivor-created solution. Survivors reward camping by hook rushing or otherwise halting all progress.
Looping is not used to win a chase. It's used as a means to waste the Killer's time with minimal risk to the Survivor, and has no gameplay counter other than playing a single Killer. The two sides are not equivalent.

I understood it just fine. Bothsiderism is very appealing to those unwilling to see that, sometimes, one side really is worse than the other.

Because Killers are massive and empowered by a supernatural, all-powerful Entity, and Survivors are tiny little bottles of hope for the Entity to feed on.

Until Survivors stop being entitled, constantly complaining about things that they find annoying instead of things that make the game imbalanced, you can kiss your wish goodbye. As a survivor main I would like to apologize for that. Even I admit there are a lot of survivors out there that feel entitled. But also I've gone up against killers that feel entitled as well. I think it's a both sides of the fence sort of thing.
Survivors feel they are entitled to survive.
Killers feel they are entitled to kill.
Vicious cycle.Good luck out in the game

Killers feel they are entitled to the power role promised to them in this asymmetrical game.
Survivors feel they are entitled to the power role promised to the other side in this asymmetrical game. The two sides are not equal.

Until Survivors stop being entitled, constantly complaining about things that they find annoying instead of things that make the game imbalanced, you can kiss your wish goodbye.Anytime someone says anything about improving something for survivors, killers get all REEEEE and say stuff like "YOU ARE ENTITLED". That is literally the argument every killer main resorts to if they can't provide substantial counter points. Fact is, survivor has some stuff that sucks too. Do killers need to be stronger? Yes, but that doesn't mean survivors don't need a better experience too.
I play both sides I want the best game there is. I want less BS for killers AND survivors, yet anytime I make a point about BS survivors have to deal with all I get is "YOU ARE BEING ENTITLED" which is not only wrong but just a pathetic attempt to derail actual conversation. Killers are being entitled thinking they are the only ones that deserve any sort of change for the better, and the only things survivors should get are nerfs and punishments. THAT is entitlement, to think only you and your side matter or deserve things the other side doesn't.
Again, there's a difference between BS Survivors have to deal with that annoys them, and BS Survivors have to deal with that's unbalanced. Survivors would rather complain about the former than the latter, whereas Killers would rather complain about the latter than the former.
Little known factoid: to the best of my knowledge, I was the first person to suggest a nerf to A Nurse's Calling, way back when its range was the same size as a default Terror radius, because I recognized having a perk without any way to counter it was unbalanced. When the same is said of Self Care, Decisive Strike, pallet looping, SWF, Borrowed Time, Sprint Burst, gen rush, flashlights, and so on, Survivors flip their #########.
Killers aren't the only ones who deserve changes for the better, but they have to deal with a lot more unbalanced ######### than Survivors, who mainly have to deal with annoying ######### (camping being the main one). Furthermore, the things that annoy Survivors are usually things they themselves created (again, camping being the best example) by being entitled.
Very rarely do I see Survivors actually acknowledging proven balance issues with the game for the Killers' side, whereas I rarely see Killers denying balance issues with the game for the Survivors' side. I see more Killers suggesting nerfs to Killers than I do Survivors suggesting nerfs for Survivors.
You can sit there and spout bothsiderism until you're blue in the face, but the fact remains, both sides are not equal in their complaints. They never have been.
-

-
Struggling is not supposed to guarantee you get out of the Killer's grasp. That's what Decisive Strike is for.
-
You know, the last time Killers really did quit the game, Survivor queue times spiked. Survivors have short memories, apparently...
Do you want to know the difference between Killer whining and Survivor whining? The majority of Killers "whine" about severe balance issues that result in unfun games and put all the power in what should be the weaker side in this asymmetrical game (Survivors). The majority of Survivors whine about things that either make them less powerful (as it should be) or things that can made them lose for once.
-
It sold well for a small-time developer team, is still played after two years despite being a relatively niche game, and spawned several clones trying to cash in on its success (all of which were abject failures, I might add). By all relevant metrics, I'd say the game is a success.

One blink Nurse.
ONE blink? Are you high?
Nurse main just wants to play as an OP killer. Can't handle one blink? You have no skill.
Good Nurses will adapt, scrubs will go back to playing Huntress, the second most OP killer.
Who said I'm a Nurse main? You'd do well not to assume things.
1 blink is not enough. It hampers map presence and makes chases extremely easy for Survivors. The point of the second blink is so the drawback of her ability (Fatigue "stun") not outweigh its usefulness (movement and bypassing solid matter).

Survivors would whine less about camping if they didn't have so many safety nets. One hook=One kill would immediately stop camping.

nerf nurses auto aim for blinking it's stupidly op once mastered. get rid of decisive strike and remove the ability to SWF in ranked lobbies. There is no more aim assist for Killers, thankfully. What you're seeing is likely some form of lag compensation or the Nurse is just good.

1. Hide and seek mechanics.
2. Remove aura reading of the game; killers have generator aura, scratches, crows, alerts, etc; survivors reading auras remove the sense of danger of the game.
3. Try to appeal more to other kind of players if you only appeal to toxic players this game never gonna be more than a niche game.Scratches, crows, and alerts are not auras. Furthermore, without stillness crows, Survivors could hold the game hostage indefinitely by staying in the same area or in a locker.
-
That's just Whispers, or the Terror Radius in reverse. The problem isn't finding Survivors; the problem is actually catching them. It's no coincidence that the most played Killers at high ranks can either get Survivors down in one hit, or can catch up to them very quickly. Chases are simply too long to waste any time on them.
-
"Winning" is not the issue, balance is. I can kill just fine, but when one Survivor (25% of the Killer's objective) can loop the Killer long enough for the Survivors to complete 3 generators (60% of the Survivors' objective), there's a big balance issue.
The "depip squad" proved that Killers cannot succeed if Survivors play as efficiently as possible and don't make mistakes. When one side can't win unless the other makes mistakes, we call the former "underpowered" and the latter "overpowered". This being an asymmetrical game, the roles are reversed.
Killers only "win" when Survivors play recklessly due to the amount of safety nets they have. I pointed this out way back in the Steam forum. I said that Survivors were dying not due to a lack of safety nets, but due to an overabundance of them. -
Doesn't have to be that high. Even 100 ms is enough. You just need to be "lucky".
-
Nerf Survivors and buff Killers until all of the Survivors combined are barely able to stand up to a Killer. Start with the crutch perks (what's known as the "Survivor meta") and SWF, move on to buffing Killer perks left and right, and don't stop until Survivors are genuinely afraid to go near the Killer on their own.
-
The skill check was triggered while you were still on the generator. Latency causes what you experienced. Just hide when the Killer comes to check the generator (if he comes to check it) and wait for him to leave.
-
No, thank you. I'd rather not have to deal with five crutch perks instead of the usual four. If this were a Killer-only thing, it'd be one step towards balancing the game, but for Survivors, given the current state of affairs? No thanks.
-
I would love to get face camping back as an intended mechanic instead of an exploit.
-
There is no counter. You, as Killer, have no way to stop the Survivor from stunning you. No way to stop it from triggering. You can mitigate its effects by using certain perks, but you can't counter it any more than you can counter Sprint Burst.

I still think there should be more people on this forum. Since it combines PC, PS4 and Xbox communities.
Or are they all the silent majority like the auric cell give away winners?Nope. Most people on Steam just didn't realize that the forum had been moved because they don't read pinned threads (or much of anything, in fact; they're more oblivious than I am, and I have ADD).

Do you have any idea how much a 3% difference is in unhooking yourself? You get 3 attempts. If you try all 3, at 4%, it's an 11.5% chance you'll get off (a little over 1/9). At 7%, it's 19.6% (almost 1/5).
If you want percentages, check the official Dead by Daylight wiki (deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com), but don't say it's "only 3%". 3% is a big deal.

As I see it, you're only supposed to reload after a chase ends, so it's acceptable to me.

Well if they release with all the nerfs for survivors, good luck with lobby waiting time. Monster Hunters release looks very attractive nowWell they will release with all those tiny nerfs. I am really confident about the killer lobby waiting times. They usually only go up, when a new killer is released. Since most survivor mains want to test the new killer in ranked matches, rather than testing them with KYF.
I find it really funny how survivors continue to threaten killer lobby times, when they just got some minor nerfs. While the game has been terribly unbalanced towards survivors for the past 2 years. When killers complained, survivors told them to git gud. I really can´t remember any 45+ minute ques for killers. But i remember how the steam forum was literally on fire during last October. When survivors had 45+ minute ques and then got dodged. All because killers stopped playing killer.
BTW. I am also looking forward to MHW. Maybe your survivor lobbies will go up, if so many killer mains leave, because the survivor nerfs are just not enough. Who knows :chuffed:
Yeah, but Survivors have short memories. They forget that the Killer strike did have an effect, and probably forget it was even a thing in the first place.

Once it goes live, I'm planning on telling every survivor who complains, that they missed their chance to change the nerfs. To be fair there was a lot feedback on the exhaustion nerf and the devs responded to it during the last stream. It's clear that they already decided the nerf is coming. The only thing people might have talked about are some of the perk changes and probably the hag/trapper buff from the survivor side of things.
I personally expect the 2.1.0 patch coming soon. Maybe with a few tweaks, but mostly like it was on the PTB.
The nerf is coming. But Survivors could have helped to adjust the actual numbers of the nerf. Devs even said that they should play on the PTB. But since they missed their chance to soften the blow...
That's because playing on the PTB and giving informed feedback requires some effort.

Maybe it's just time to admit that Survivors are overpowered and needed to be nerfed.

I was actually thinking a wolf man type killer with his ability to be jumping. He could climb trees and jump from one to the other. It would make survivors play completely differently. They’d be looking up instead of ahead.I suggested something like this way back in the Steam forums, but instead of trees, he'd use poles that he himself would place on the map.
-
@Tsulan said:
Well, survivors had the chance to object the BNP nerf, by playing on the PTB and giving the devs valuable data which could have softened the nerf.
But they prefered to ignore the PTB, since there was nothing in for them.So survivors got this on themselfes. Good job!
Indeed, gotta love it when Survivors shoot themselves in the foot, like when they hookrush.

I never used a BNP on survivor before the nerf was announced, but I had 3 of them. To balance a game, you must balance it at the highest level of play. That's their maximum potential, but it's too powerful, so it must be nerfed.

The Survivors' strength should come from not being seen by the Killer, and not in their ability to loop Killers indefinitely. In a straight chase, the Killer is supposed to have the advantage, since it's 1v1. You can still escape, mind you, but it should be difficult to do so. It should be easier to stealth than it is to loop.Stealth is already dead, so survivors don't have many choices in a chase. I agree that it should be easier to be stealthy and that it should be harder to get away from the killer though
Stealth isn't dead. Maybe you're just not as good at stealth as you think you are.
-
Since there is no more aim assist, the result is that Killers can and will swing as much as the animation will allow them. We (Killers) warned Survivors time and time again that the aim assist was more beneficial to you guys than it was to us, but you didn't listen. Now the devs have removed it, and attacks are much easier to control.
-
How about you learn to dodge the chainsaw? There's more than enough pallets, walls, etc., to go around.
Oh, and since you seem unable to process the idea that someone might disagree with you based simply on the idea that your suggestion is bad, I am notoriously bad with the Hillbilly and still disagree with you. -
You mean asymmetrical game? A-sync is something completely different. Anyway, given that there are more Survivors than Killer by design alone, this would just be a constant bonus to Killers.
