It mostly depends on the side you lean toward. Survivor main is gonna see killers being terrible more often, like killer main is gonna see survivors being terrible more often. I never take teabagging seriously, but I also only ever do it if the killer has played really unfairly the entire match and there's no way out for me. Then again, I've seen killers get really offended when survivors do it to each other to communicate or killers punishing one survivor when they weren't even the one that did it lol
Survivor main here, I see survivors being terrible more often. Always have, as a matter of fact.
-
The filter seems to be adaptive. I've never had any problems with it. However, it is also a WIP, so if you find it blocking things it shouldn't, write up a feedback thread or bug report.
-
No.
-
OP, have you actually read the explanations and arguments about why this is an issue?
PS: Some people have fun by playing competitively. Just because your fun is in not taking the game seriously doesn't mean it's the only type of fun people are allowed to have.
-
Well, thank you for admitting you'll never change your mind.
-
What does that mean? To be clear, I know what macros are, but how does that answer @RenAmamiya's question?

Find the other survivor
And where do you think the survivor might be going?

Intention is to aware ppl of their sensitivity how will they be able to live in this world when they get offended by random dwight twerking in a video game controlled by complete stranger they never met in their life or knew he existed till their match
So it's not to troll/taunt the killer, it's because you're all dedicated psychologists working for free to make people aware of their own sensibilities to prepare them for the "real world". Is that what you're going with?
EDIT: Here I thought most people played games to escape from the issues of the real world, not to be reminded of them.

You obviously didn't read what I said if your asking why.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2313075#Comment_2313075
Yea exactly lol just saying if I have a 20K game then taking even one hit will get me an extra 5K
You get BP, but it's detrimental to the killer. It's just not worth the killer's time. I've also seen many survivors getting screwed out of a hatch escape (they were being chased) because the rest refused to go. If the gate's open, leave.

I do play games to have fun. That's why, if a game is no longer fun, I stop playing it. I don't launch it and queue up just to ruin everyone else's fun.

I've never found this "W Meta" to be any issue at all, and would call it out saying it's nothing like a meta. It's just survivors running away.
If I see survivors at a distance who spot me and run away, I'll weigh up if it's a worthwhile chase. If it's not, I'll abandon it and catch them at a more fortuitous moment.
There's time enough to catch survivors at different points. Play to the killer strength, watch the playstyle of eaxh individual survivor, look for areas where it will benefit you to take them out more.
Deadzones were put in place to avoid jungle gyms and obstacles where survivors could evade killers for days. That was a big issue back then. Now having them removed is a problem, and I just don't understand it.
Choose the chases wisely. No need to waste time on them. A survivor will always make a mistake. This is where the game gets more depth when dealing with the humanistic side.
And when all survivors run away at a distance? What will you do then?

And then do you know what people then ? They. Just kill themself on hook … and then people complain about people killing themselves …
do you not notice when the dc penalty is active all people complain about is dying on hook either way people will do it regardless. And a penalty is not going to stop it. maybe if the game was stable didn’t have such ass hitboxes, lag/connection issues, poor frame rate and people playing in a-holes way this wouldn’t happen.
Explain to me if someone leaves straight away why should people have to stay in the game ?
do you kno how many games as a solo player I have entered a game and someone kills themself on hook straight away …. And then we are forced to stay in the game and farm because the killer don’t want to d-rank… on both sides I couldn’t care less if I don’t get a 4k and I also couldn’t care less if I don’t escape this is a causal game people need to understand this
If the DC penalty was irrelevant, DCers wouldn't be trying so hard to convince everyone it is.
on both sides I couldn’t care less if I don’t get a 4k and I also couldn’t care less if I don’t escape this is a causal game people need to understand this
Emphasis mine.
Note that you're sharing your feelings on the game and then acting like they're objective facts that "everyone" should accept. Furthermore, if you don't care if you get a 4k nor care if you escape, then DCing should not matter at all to you. There's no way you're always getting farming games when someone DCs.

So, running in straight lines is OP now? What comes next? Survivors being able to move is OP? Let's just spoon-feed the killers.
Survivors running in a straight line when the killer is still far away is demonstrably mathematically OP, yes. Just do the math yourself, if you don't believe me.

You should make a bug report.

I think toolboxes and prove thyself is the problem
I think it's neither. Gen speeds are already at the maximum tolerable limit; the problem is how long they take relative to what the killer has to do. If killers could initiate more chases more often, gen speeds wouldn't be an issue. Hell, they could probably even be shortened.

@Orion said:
I did the math, and if an "M1 Killer" (a Killer whose power does not help them win a chase) is up against a Survivor with Sprint Burst, from just 10 meters away, it takes about 37 seconds to actually put them in the dying state, assuming the Survivor runs in a straight line. With looping, DS, etc., this obviously prolongs the chase by a lot.
If you guys (developers) are serious about wanting chases to end more quickly, then M1 Killers like the Doctor and the Pig need to move more quickly. A mere 5% increase relative to the Survivors' base speed (i.e.: giving BL I by default to all M1 Killers) would cut chase time to about 29 seconds under the aforementioned conditions, assuming they could still have BL I at 15 seconds.
To reiterate, these are the conditions:
- The Survivor has Sprint Burst
- The distance between the Survivor and the Killer is 10 meters
- The Survivor runs in a straight line
- The Killer has 115% movement speed relative to the Survivor (4.6 m/s)
Besides Sprint Burst, every condition is in the Killer's favor, and it still takes almost 40 seconds to catch the Survivor. This is not OK for Killers whose powers don't actively help them during the chase. They need to be faster, or their powers need to be modified to help them in the chase.
EDIT: I assumed the Killer is slowed to 50% of their base speed when hitting a Survivor because I don't have the exact number. However, I feel it's a good estimate.
EDIT #2: I made a small mistake in the calculations that I'll need to correct. Please ignore the thread until I do.
EDIT #3: Mistake corrected.That's me, bringing it up 3 years ago. Don't necro the thread (not only is it against the rules, but some things may no longer be valid), but note that the complaint is much older than you believe and has nothing to do with "content creators".

Then there is stuff like:

Crooked nose, left eye is looking off, left side of face is bigger, left lip side looks open. etc.

Not true. Someone may recall a statement in a dev Q and A or an interview online in an article or a twitter statement
As far as I know, this question has never been asked before. However, my answer is based on factual information (the publisher did give the devs a small budget because the former didn't believe in the project too much).
-
Because they had a limited budget. The publisher at the time did not believe in the project all that much.

In that it's gone from referring to killers who mindlessly follow a Survivor and let them dictate every step of the chase, and who wind up getting looped until the Survivor makes a mistake, to now refer to almost anything Survivors do in a chase that isn't crouching.

Well.. I thought a phobia at least has some anxiety or fear as basis? Pure hatred without fear doesn’t seem like something you would call a phobia and should have other causes and treatments etc. But I could of course be wrong on that one, was just my assumption..
Anxiety can lead to hatred because it triggers the brain's fight-or-flight instinct.

Do you think that if a surv doesn’t run and wait the killer he won’t last 3 secs is good for the survs?
@Trickstaaaaa is saying that running away early is "weak". I didn't say running away late was strong.

I mean.. hating it is definitely still not comparable to an actual phobia. Logic and rational thinking can’t be applied with a phobia, even if it’s only a game
Despite the etymological origin, a phobia can, in fact, cause hatred of the thing.

@Trickstaaaaa said:
Yep I'm starting to notice something that maybe some people are not really as good as they think they are \_0_0_/. Because good killer only users don't gripe about weak things.
Do you think having to chase a survivor for 50 seconds to hit them once because they started to run away early on is good for the killer?

I hate hate hate it in real life but im not uncomfortable with it on this game. Its not real
Lots of things aren't real, yet they elicit an emotional response nonetheless. Clowns, for instance, are basically magicians with a ton of make-up and fewer tricks, but people are still afraid of them.
Phobias aren't logical.

One of the simplest changes DBD could make is also allow consoles to choose the low setting that PC players can.
That would drastically improve performance and although it's not ideal for those that want good performance and the best graphics, it'd be worth it IMO. I've personally played DBD at low settings ever since it came out and I don't think it's bad at all.
Do you know of other console games that allow you to do that? Genuinely asking, I don't know because I haven't bought a console since the PS3.
-
@SilentPill said:

Because people play survivor because being chased by the killer is the only fun part of DBD and this guy is acting like he should be entitled to free easy downs regardless of the survivors skill level. We already have Nurse and Spirit for that, it doesn’t need to be every killer in the game.
Nobody is acting like that. Did you actually read the arguments put forth by the OP?

There are a lot of multiplayer games that don't have any problems whatsoever.
With the same (or better) graphics than DbD and network requirements?
-
@Ryuzaki said:
Care to explain how The Last of Us Part 2 and Death Stranding perform very well on a base model PS4? Both of these games are more graphically demanding than DBD.
Both of those games are also single-player (Death Stranding has a multiplayer component, but it's not real-time like DbD). I'd wager DbD being multiplayer puts additional strain on the hardware.

well.... they could reduce every maps size and then nerf high mobility killers:
Nurse 1 blink only
Hag to can't teleport outside the TR
Freddy can't teleport to gens
Demogorgon portals reduced to 2 and breaks after use
Spirit phase walk speed reduced to 115%
Wraith invisible speed reduced to 130%
Blight lethal rush speed reduced to 150%
Oni demon dash speed reduced to 150%
Hillbilly chainsaw sprint speed reduced to 150%
What would be the point of reducing map size if you just make killers slower again? We'd be right back where we started.

Literally 8/10 matches. Im being chased at the end last gen pops gate opens im downed they run out. no joke. I am not complaining but I have learned my lesson on helping those who may just leave me behind in the end :)
The killer is going to camp you in that situation. I don't have BT and I'm not trading places with you, so I can't do much. So, yes, I'm leaving ASAP.

Here we go again...
First it was stealth. Then it was extreme looping. Now running is becoming the thing that some people think is an issue. 🙄
"Running" is not the issue, though. I explain the problem quite clearly here:
@Orion said:
It was always a problem. The solution would probably be to make killers less noticeable (smaller TRs, crank up the fog for survivors, nerf perks like Premonition and Spine Chill, stuff like that), so that survivors don't have as much of a warning about the killer's movements.
Just to put this in numbers: with a 32-meter TR and a 4.6 m/s killer, if a survivor (without Exhaustion perks) starts running in a straight line when the killer is 30 meters away, the killer will take a maximum of 50 seconds (no Bloodlust, no movement speed buffs) to reach that survivor the first time.
The killer can, of course, just leave that survivor, but then the survivor goes right back on their gen. And if everyone else does that, the killer is screwed. There's just not enough time to chase 4 survivors for 50 seconds 12 times (that's 10 minutes) just to get the first hit.
Let me know if you have any questions.
-

Define "before". At launch, it was definitely worse.

@ShinobuSK said:
People actually "main" one side and not playing the other? I payed way too much in this game for just playing 50% of it
Well, I'm a survivor main because of the matchmaker and how much easier survivor is. If I get killers who are better than me (within reason), at least I know I can still win (escape). If I get survivors who are better than me, I'm basically #########. Once MMR is released, though, I'll go back to playing killer (and play more often as well).
-
No. You don't have to be a killer main to recognize issues killers face, nor do you have to be a survivor main to recognize issues survivors face.
PS: I shoot down killer suggestions quite regularly and don't get mocked for it.

Sometime you do sometimes you don’t. Remember this is solo queue I’m talking about and I’m not gonna be able to go and cleanse 5 totems solo while my team is doing gens. This is why we need a totem counter base kit that way players actually understand totems are a thing and need to be done

Why not? Again, if the killer is that bad, you can surely cleanse some totems, or at least memorize their locations so you know where to look for NOED.
This is why we need a totem counter base kit that way players actually understand totems are a thing and need to be done
If NOED and 1000 BP per dull totem aren't enough to teach them that, nothing ever will be.

Yeah, I guess I just simplified it to teleporting.
Although if they were to rework her I wouldn't mind it to be changed into an instant teleporting.
That would remove her counterplay during a chase. I'd be heavily against such a chance.
-
@A_Skinny_Legend said:
Yes, but I can only do that with fast killers, or with nurse but I wouldn't really call her fast, she just teleports.
Currently I am playing as nurse with bbq, starstruck, nurses & Infectious. People keep dc but I have no gen slowdowns or anything so they have a chance at winning if I mess up with my blinks.
She actually does have a travel speed while blinking; it's not instantaneous.
-
No.
Although a killer who uses the crows (and maybe creates more animals to attack survivors) would definitely be awesome.

The literal translation would be something like "the bell ringer".
