Yes, but this game is no competitive. It hasn´t even official rules. Most torunaments create their rules to get a balanced experience. In many of them you can´t repeat killers (if not, we´d only see spirits, nurses and blights). In many tournaments, tunneling and camping is not allowed either till EGC.

I only play Solo Q. How can i get compared to a premade when i can´t even point on a minimap to report a hex totem or communicate by commands: " Claudette, come to rescue"; " killer camping", etc.

It´s like DBD is 3 different games in 1: high performance premades, casual SWF and Solo Q.

My point is, when the devs buff the solo q giving them communication tools, these single players will start to coordinate and approach their level of performance to the SWF.

And is at that point where devs could really balance the game. Because a Clown or a GF probably can´t deal a good premade, but can take 4k on solo q game with no problem.

It definitely does have official rules, though. You mean it doesn't have arbitrary limitations in place of actually balancing the game (because it's easier to ban stuff from tournaments than it is to just make the game balanced and allow players to use whatever they want and play however they want).

  • Sometimes, but I understand the frustration with SWF and can hardly blame people for complaining when survivors are the source of the majority (over 80%, in case someone tries to bring up "there are more survivors than killers!") of the toxicity in the game (in my experience).

  • I think it's only fair, given the issues.

  • We had yet another test just a little while ago, and the difference is noticeable.

No, I did not make a mistake at all. I am fully aware what it means to be ‘meta’, but not everything has to follow a dictionary definition in a dialogue. You’re coming across as really condescending quite frankly, and I don’t appreciate it.

I'm not trying to be condescending, but if you don't use words according to their common definitions, it's going to be difficult to have a dialogue about anything, because we'll have no idea if you mean what is usually meant when someone uses the same word, or if you mean something else altogether. I'm just trying to help the dialogue. If I'm coming across as condescending, I apologize.

They ran out of ideas for strong, fun, fair killer powers around Deathslinger.

Look at every killer released since then. They've either been just a blatantly weaker version of an existing killer, or they're a low or zero counterplay "pallets/vaults are a free hit for me tee hee hee". I mean, Pyamid head already felt uninspired and look at Nemesis a year later. He's almost the same killer, even with the same gameplay at pallets.

They don't have any ideas left for strong, likeable killers like old Billy or Oni. Blight was the last one.

I would argue that Oni was the last truly great killer they added from a fun perspective for both sides. A good Oni is terrifying to face but you never feel like you were cheated or pushed into a lose/lose situation like the last few killers.

Heck, as weak as he is, have you ever faced Trickster on a map with no or very few high walled tiles? It's an instant chase loss because even if you dodge 10 knifes there's another 50 minimum coming your way.

The last year or two of killer releases have been exclusively designed around one sided fun.

There has never been a single killer that was universally considered fun by the survivors.

You mention Deathslinger, Hillbilly, and Oni? Really? Those had a ton of complaints about them. The only reason Oni doesn't any more is because he's basically absent from all ranks, but people still complain about Deathslinger, and they complained about the Hillbilly, which is one of the reasons why he was nerfed in the first place.

If you want to say that you enjoy certain killers more than others, then, by all means, do that. But don't try to rewrite history.

‘The meta’ is the game, that doesn’t make the killer meta

No, "the meta" is "the meta". It refers to a set of strategies that are established as being the most optimal and often correspond with the highest level of play.

It's OK to admit you made a mistake. You can also still edit your OP if you want to replace the word "meta" with "game".

  • In my experience, any killer in the meta is called "unfun". Really makes you think.

Aside from the community's very vocal response about it, the lack of linked sets for orginal characters that have come out recently is pretty telling.

The forum is a minority of players. Note that whenever people here are crying out that the game is "the worst it's ever been" (i.e.: after every single patch), DbD's player numbers are soaring. Usually I'd agree that the lack of linked sets for new characters could indicate that they don't sell well, but it could just as easily be because of the graphical reworks.

  • @ProfoundEnding said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2299197#Comment_2299197

If it really wasn't up to the license holders and this is a decision solely made by BHVR why on earth would they link sets when they know they don't sell as well and it causes nothing but an uproar? How can it be a money grab when it's quite blatantly obvious people don't want to spend their money on linked sets.

Do you have hard data on what does or doesn't sell, or is that just your perception?

  • @Shirtless_Myers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2298744#Comment_2298744

This is pathetic when the majority bought these sets to unlink them in the first place. Sets are awful and look terrible beyond one or two pieces that are ruined by the third.

I rarely ever see anyone use linked sets, but see quite often an unlinked piece.

Why did people buy bugged content for the bugs in the first place? Does that sound logical to you?

  • @Canas said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/I56XRZT2OPOG/but-why.png

The only reason why I even buy some of these linked sets and legendaries is to combine them with other outfits, that's only possible via bugs. By fixing said bugs you remove any incentive of ever buying linked sets again. Don't do this.

I know that you probably have some duties to various license holders but you still can pretend that these issues are beyond your responsibility since those would be bugs and not actual ingame-features.

    1. Buying something because it's bugged is just a bad idea. Bugs get fixed. It's like buying a book that's on fire - eventually, you're going to lose the product.
    2. Lying to people with whom you have a contract is a great way to get sued into oblivion.

The downside of that is making killers stronger in the 1 V 1 which leads to killers like Spirit or Deathslinger where a survivors skill takes a backseat. That isn't fun either, because it feels like the devs saying your skill shouldn't matter.

Killers like Billy have always been considered the most fun for a reason. Shame BHVr gutted him

The downside of that is making killers stronger in the 1 V 1 which leads to killers like Spirit or Deathslinger where a survivors skill takes a backseat. That isn't fun either, because it feels like the devs saying your skill shouldn't matter.

The real problem is that a 1v1 is seen as synonymous with "chase". There's more that goes into a 1v1.

Killers like Billy have always been considered the most fun for a reason. Shame BHVr gutted him

I've been here since launch and I can guarantee you there is no killer that hasn't been complained about. The Hillbilly in particular was complained about a lot before his nerf.

  • Depends on how long it takes you to find a survivor. In total (find+chase), it shouldn't take you more than 60 seconds to down a survivor, and even that's probably a bit too much.

EDIT: I thought about this, and I think 50 seconds (30 chase+20 search) is the sweet spot for the first chase. I'll explain. In this instance, "you" refers to the killer:

    Assuming:

    • All survivors are split
    • All survivors started on a gen
    • All survivors kept repairing while you chased
    • It takes 10 seconds to carry a downed survivor to the hook
    • One survivor stops generator progression the instant the other is hooked, to go for the unhook
    • You're using PGTW

    Then:

    • 3 generators are at 75% by the time you get your first hook
    • When you use PGTW, you regress one to 50% and find the survivor who was on it
    • One generator is repaired while you're chasing the second survivor and the first one is rescued

If I valued winning more than build variety then stacks wouldn't be in my main perks for the past few years lol once the event is over I'll probably also run Flashbangs every game too. If I really cared that much about winning I wouldn't be bringing flashlights, flashbang or stacks.

A meta always establishes itself but not every player wants to use/face the meta every single game. I enjoy perks like Appraisal and Aftercare but when MMR is implemented I'm not going to be able to run that.

Take what I said here and pretend I'm talking about killer. Let's say I want to run Franklin's and Hoarder (think that's what it's called) on Ghostface. Your seriously not going to say that MMR isn't going to stop me running them. I can run that build maybe once or twice but when every game is potentially going to be very sweaty people will eventually revert back to a meta build.

Everybody wants to win to some extent. Also this is just me but I purely care about points. I would rather lose with 23K than win with 17K.

You keep saying you don't care much about winning, but then you also say that you can't run sub-optimal builds more than once or twice because you'd be going up against people who are running meta builds (implying you'd lose against them). It's one or the other, not both.

MMR, if it works properly, will match you with people who are playing at your level of skill. If you choose (because it is a choice) to keep playing "sweatier" every time in order to win, then you'll keep getting players who are better. That's just the way it works.

    Meaning the Following:

A: Every Single Killer will not be played at the Best of the Abilities. Due to them havin' Limits beyond the player's control,

B: Killers get Screwed over by good Rng for survivors, Meaning that if you don't mindgame properly, it'll hurt your chase if its 4 really good loopers,

C: Meaning you'll ONLY,, and i Mean, ONLY Face Nurse and Spirit all game. with Ruin / Undying, Does that sound like fun to you?

    1. That's still true now, so nothing's going to change in that regard.
    2. Survivors get screwed by good RNG for killers. Again, nothing's going to change in this regard.
    3. That's only true if you're the very best of the best. Even then, that'll only happen if you constantly "sweat". "Sweating" is a choice, and choices have consequences. I want to play with people who are playing on my level, even if I and/or they can do better.

Well you'll have a chase for 15 seconds. I would think most people think that countering the only defenses a survivor has is not healthy for the game.

If the chase takes 15 seconds it's because you ran into a wall or the killer. However, that's not even the point. Either you want all survivors to have things to do besides sitting on generators (particularly, you want them to be chased), or you want chases to be so long that nobody has any choice but to sit on a generator. I'm for the former, and I'm not the one bringing up any times, that's all you.

No we won't lol I don't mind losing if it's a fun game but it's not fun facing the same perks as killer or facing the same killer and perks as survivor. As I said before this game has a lot of variety which will be lost once MMR is implemented.

A meta always establishes itself but not every player wants to use/face the meta every single game. I enjoy perks like Appraisal and Aftercare but when MMR is implemented I'm not going to be able to run that.

All of this is IF they get SBM perfect. Let's be honest it won't be on release and we don't know how long it will take for them to get it to a good state. I don't want to potentially face green ranks or less every game because I'll destroy them and it won't be fun for anyone.

A meta always establishes itself but not every player wants to use/face the meta every single game. I enjoy perks like Appraisal and Aftercare but when MMR is implemented I'm not going to be able to run that.

MMR isn't going to stop you from running those perks, though, is it? It's just that you value winning more than build variety. Which is fine, don't get me wrong, but don't blame MMR for that.

  • Why would you P3 every character? Why even P1?

  • @gendoss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2297786#Comment_2297786

Not if they make killers that completely counter windows and pallets like Pyramid Head, Nurse, and Spirit, then you'll be on a hook the whole game.

And before you end up on the hook, you'll have a chase. Survivors don't spawn on hooks, last time I checked.

  • @Grimmy_Bluues said:

I don't want to feel punished for doing well in matches with the game raising my MMR higher constantly. You should never have to feel bad about doing well in a game, it's stupid. I'd much rather have a diverse range of games from me getting stomped, to me stomping.

I hate having to sweat, plus high level play for this game is boring as hell. I really do not want SBMM.

You don't have to "sweat" if you don't want to, but then you'll also have to learn to take the losses as they come.

THIS GAME WASN'T MEANT THE KILLERS TO EVEN WIN AGAINST GOOD SURVIVORS DUDE,

Literally. the top .1% craps on EVERY single killer. including a perfect Nurse / Spirit,

Even with meta perks, killer still loses,

Do you NOT see how unbalanced that is,

I'm sorry, but how is that relevant?

  • @gendoss said:

1v1 is way more fun and is the actual interactive part of dbd.

Nobody wants to be sitting on gens the whole game especially when there are killers with little to no counterplay.

If you make killers stronger in the 1v1, there's a higher chance you won't have to sit on generators the whole trial, because they'll actually have the time to chase you. You'll also be able to perform hook rescues and heals and other stuff more often.

  • @CashelP14 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2297645#Comment_2297645

Nobody wants to lose. There are games where I go in to mess around, have fun and more than likely die. Me and a mate literally killed ourselves 2/3 times trying to go for flashbang locker saves. Though there are games where I go in, especially with extra bloodpoints on the line where I want to win.

If your not running meta perks and you face your 5th Spirit in 3 hours, you'll probably think "God I wish I had Iron Will and Dead Hard". Btw this isn't a random example, this did happen in one of their previous tests.

I'm not saying I want easy games every game because that would be extremely boring and unfun. I just want a good mix of tough and laid back games. This game was build of variety and if you play this game at the top level then variety is going to go out the window when MMR is added.

I just want a good mix of tough and laid back games.

And you can have those! But you will be going up against opponents of equal skill, so you'll likely lose. The alternative is having you go up against less-skilled opponents, and that's not fun for them.

This game was build of variety and if you play this game at the top level then variety is going to go out the window when MMR is added.

That's how it is in every competitive game. A meta always establishes itself.

Cause if that's the case. game is just dead right then and there,

Bitter murmer, you see the auras of all survivors close to a generator for 5 seconds after its been completed. Once all generators are done, you see the aura of all survivors for 10 seconds. Can't remember how this one stacks. Universal perk.

Dying light, you get a token each time you hook a survivor that isn't the obsession. Each token provides a 2%/2.5%/3% stackable slowdown to action speeds. The obsession ignores this slowdown, gets 33% faster altruism speeds, and if they die you lose all tokens. Michael Myers, level 40.

Fast track, each time a survivor is hooked that isn't you, get 1/2/3 tokens. Hitting a great skillcheck consumes all tokens, which will each provide a 1% bonus to the progression gained. Yun-Jin Lee, level 30(?)

Monstrous shrine, all hooks in the basement have: less chance to unhook yourself, faster hook progression, and attempting to escape will punish you 3%76%/9% more. Can't remember exact values for all of them. Universal perk.

Second Wind, activated by healing the equivalent of one health state, the next time you are unhooked you're affected by the Broken status effect for 32/28/24 seconds. After thsi time has passed, you're automatically healed to healthy. Second Wind doesn't activate if you're broken by any other means. Steve Harrington, level 40.

SFTS- whenever a survivor sets off a crow near you, get a specific visual queue that shows it clearly to you. Distance is stackable but I can't remember exact values. Has a cooldown of 5 seconds. Universal perk.

Wake Up!, once the exit gates are powered, Wake Up! activates. See the auras of the exit gates within 64m/96m/128m, and open them 14% faster. If you're opening a gate, all survivors within 64m/96m/128m see your aura.

As expected, there are many details you don't remember, because it's unreasonable to expect anyone to remember this much information.

So I reiterate the challenge I made to OP:

    No it's not,

That's like saying you cannot play a Casual match in any other game since you're the top .1% Hillbilly.

No, it's great design. You want to play casually? Then play casually, but you will lose against opponents of equal skill who aren't playing casually. If you want to try to win, then you will go up against opponents of equal skill who are also trying to win.

The alternative would be you always getting people who are below your level of skill so you can win while playing casually or not. In other words, other people are matched with someone who outskills them and their loss is basically set in stone.

I'll take option #1, thank you very much. If you want to win so badly, then win, but you're getting a fair trial.

The fact that during the SBM test. it took me almost half an hour to a full HOUR just to get one match and an extra 5 minutes Just to get into the game to just barely 3k that game cause i had to tunnel off hook, AND Camp just to force a death hook,

That is not good game design. i want actual fun matches. not sweat matches 24/7 on my main

You don't have to "sweat" unless you want to. If you just take the L a few times, your MMR will adjust.

I'm personally not looking forward to skill based matchmaking.

The last test they did me and my mate played as a 2 man swf on both days. Here was the results:

    • Day 1: Good enough teammates and average killer.
    • Day 2: Really bad teammates (basically rank 15s or less) and good, sweaty killers.

I personally don't believe they will get it right. How many times have they released something broken and bugged? In my opinion when SBM is released I think it'll be a broken, buggy mess.

Now imagine they get a perfect matchmaking system. To me that is also something I don't want to see. My reasons:

    • I don't want all my killer games to be vs really good swf teams. I'm not a god killer but I get a 4K 9/10 games, and I'm not even playing Nurse, Spirit, Hag or Blight. I personally don't want to need to sweat every single game I play.
    • Survivor my SBM will be quite high also. I like to run fun perks and at least play Drunk By Daylight twice a week. Last thing I want is every game to be Ruin, Pop, Tinkerer etc. Facing the same killers every single game also.
    • I have 2 friends as survivor I'm trying to teach the game. They are around green ranks and can't really loop. I don't want them to face sweaty killers every single game because of my SBM rating.

The TL;DR version of this part is I don't want every game to be a sweat fest. Whether I play killer or survivor I don't want to need to run meta perks and play sweaty every game. I'm not saying "All I want is easy games", I'm just saying I'd rather a good balance.

You don't have to "sweat" unless you want to. If you just take the L a few times, your MMR will adjust.

  • There are a grand total of 179 perks and 544 add-ons (not including event and decommissioned add-ons), plus 24 killer powers. If you, OP, are so certain that you know them, then write them ALL down, from memory. No checking any online resources or asking for help. And yes, I want numbers for everything, as well as what the icons look like.

  • I use it with Wraith because it's hilarious.

Since the mods are trying blocking me from editing this ill do an edit here.

*BHV interactive makes 124.2m a year my bad no wonder this games so broke.. still I think the employees could do some source code work with there 200k a year salaries.

Revenue is not profit. Take 2's profit (net income), for instance, is about 400 million, or roughly 13% of its revenue. If BHVR has the same percentage, their net income is 52 million, which would explain why they're constantly hiring.

PS: The 200k number you read is average revenue per employee; in other words, it's the total revenue divided by the number of employees. It has nothing to do with salaries.

  • I have no illusions about my skill as survivor. I just want to shoot the ######### with my SWF teammate. Is that so wrong?

  • Yes, but you should ignore messages saying you were reported. Chances are, he was lying.
