I think we also have to take perks into account, im sure I'd be frustrating for a survivor to get up with Unbreakable or have deliverance in there back pocket only to have the entire team forfit when they could have made come back. Not to mention tha'd add the option to dc immediately without penalty's epessaily for those survivors who don't like the way they get hit and dc on 1st down.

I just looked up Evil Dead: The Game, and it looks pretty awesome. February 2022 release. I'm not familiar with the franchise though, aside from the actor (from Burn Notice) and from the DBD character.
I've heard good things about Dying Light 2. Never played #1 tho.
Ya it seemes to be the dev teams first big game but there backed by a huge publisher that worked on alot of big releases such as the Mastercheif collection and Witcher for the switch so I sense alot of passion an have high hopes.
I highly recommend be the zombie in DL for a nice change of pace from dbd, but I'd only recommend buying the game if your interested in playing the story as it is the games main focus and be the zombies just a niche side objective, but its an amazing up too 4-person co-op an would definitely be enjoyed by alot of the DbD community especially those wanting a break but aren't quite done w the horror scene.

I don't know what game this individual is playing, but it certainly is not Dead by Daylight.
Their first point is completely false - blinding the husk will not force the Spirit out of phase. All it will do is destroy the Husk and its TR.
The second point, namely using pallets to cancel her phase, is a bit cryptic. However, if what they actually mean is employing a tactic that actively revolves around stunning a phase-walking Spirit, then....may Lord have mercy.
Again, the last sentence again describes a mechanic that is not currently present in DBD. Blinding the husk does not force the Spirit out of her phase walk.
Well this is news too me bc every time I blind a husk I get points and she pops out of the phase, if that's not the case then I'm literally just running in the opposite direction and confusing her making the conter even easier to pull off. BTW I stun phase walking spirits all the time its really no that hard to time w a bit of practice but you probly just DC an blame the game mechanics for your poor situational awareness and no skill..

The entire game itself i hate myself for playing it.

The obvious one I’m going for here is Tinkerer + Ruin + Undying. This is sometimes miserable to go against as a solo survivor. Yeah, I know about the myriad of totem counters. But should players be forced to ignore a large portion of perk variety because issues like this?
It was initially smart the way Ruin was changed to remove the damn awful, overbearing synergy with Pop (Although I personally much prefer to deal with old Ruin), but now I’m wondering if all that needed to be done for balancing is have certain killer perks have a stipulation where their effect can/can’t be used if a survivor is/isn’t cursed?
Using Tinkerer as an example, it could be that the moment any survivor gets the “cursed” notification from any Hex, Ruin or otherwise, Tinkerer remains disabled unless that Hex (or Hexes) is cleansed.
Thoughts?
NO! your basicly asking for perks to be band to appease survivors not likeing somthing. Well if thats the case hook rescues should cause the exaughston status effect bc im tired of survivors SB or DH away, and dropping pallets should injure survivors bc its miserable when someone stuns you. Do you see how stupid this actually sounds...
-
But I like to save all my event items for the next event to confuse people, I dropped so many year 4 cakes this event an got the same ######### reaction every time some players even thought i was hacking an dc'd 100% worth the wait.

I used to use controller + mouse on pc (left hand on the left side of a PS4 controller, right hand mouse)
But there was an update which meant using that dropped my frames to like 5 fps :(
^This is actually genius I wanna try it with a proper joystick/mouse.
Or a proper steering wheel set up and run around the map making "vroom" sounds over the mic.

Yea but that's all easy on controller , on pc you have to hit more buttons, you can't just spin your mouse and 360 like you can with a joystick you have to hit four-five different buttons while not over doing your mouse because the sensitivity is higher , but hey we can agree to disagree thats all just from my experiences everyone is different and you might think it's easier to use a kb & m but my next question would be have you ever played this game on pc?
Not constantly enough tbh . i won't lie most of my pc experience is through my matches against or with cross play and spectaing so most of its comparing my experience to someone through cross play. Id love to play more pc but there's no cross progress and I have all teachables plus so many unique cosmetics its just not worth it to start over. So your right i probably have a biased opinion.
-
@The_Krapper said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2417172#Comment_2417172
It doesn't and I'll explain why, with a controller you can easily look behind you while getting chased , on PC you have to switch from w to a or d then to s and move your mouse accordingly depending on which way you're heading, on controller the only thing you can do that pc can't is jog in place , PC has more control over the characters when you master it which is why you see pc player moonwalking the map length and console players struggling to do anywhere near as much distance and almost shaking like a seizure when they try, 360s are smoother on PC and more controlled, the sensitivity is double what a console, and playing killer on kb and mouse is more precise in my opinion
I guess it comes down to personal preference but looking behind you in cahse requires the same kind of camerawork you still have to hold the stick in the opposite direction as the camera. Plus there's speed management like to pull off a juke on console with 100% sensitivity you need to have good control over your camera or you'll move too fast and run into the killer.
-
@The_Krapper said:
The advantage they have is ease of use, it's easier to play survivor/killer on controller but once you master the kb& mouse the advantage goes to the PC player because they have more control over the character, better sensitivity and better frames
I agree on the frames but I think controller takes more overall skill to use then K&m, an controller gives you movement options that aren't even possible to do with pc so idk i think the best setup would be a controller on a pc.
-
@humanbeing1704 said:
One advantage you get is being able to jog unless that's possible with keyboards
And you can hold the stick forward a tiny bit with the run button to jog in place and do a funny cartoon charge up before you run away then watch all the pc players try to do it an fail XP

I think after extending the last one it made this rift feel too soon(not that I have an issue with extending rifts). Yea something about it's underwhelming an makes me have no urge to buy it. Because that's not a thing. There's a slightly higher chance to get higher-rarity things in your bloodweb, but it's not noticeable unless you've got a spreadsheet and go through several hundred bloodwebs.
Idk i did notice my p3 would immediately get the next 2 perk levels shown in the BW where as P2 you have to buy a bunch of greens before purple perks start appearing an p1 just gets littered w random perks and you don't start seeing higher levels till baiscly rank 40ish
-
I think it has to do with prestige levels as you prestige the the higher chance the perk you chose appears as its next level in the BW instead of having to grind through a bunch of random ones. so basicly like every one else said its there to waist your time..

This counterplay some of you keep mentioning… How come I’ve never, ever seen it spelled out? It’s always a referral to some video. If it’s that clear, you should be able to explain it without much trouble.
Also, it’s been 2 years. Surely, surely if there truly was consistent counterplay against Spirit specifically , far more survivors would at the very least attempt such counterplay.
So you see sprit do her phasing animation you run towards her husk and blind it she gets forced out of the phase looking in the opposite direction, use pallets to cancel her phase and escape instead of trying to run pointless loops. Mind games are a huge possibility you can back track over your scratch marks, use perks like Dwm or deception to hide scratch marks well she phases. We all know about ironwill.
Ya there's no consistently reliable one thing to do,but understanding the spirits power then making use of your environment to out play her is basically the counter. I can think of one situation the spirit was phasing toward one of my team so I just blinded the husk an she poped up in the middle of the map trying while close distance letting buddy get away.
-
There's allot of good tips here one I didn't see is forcing survivors away from high progress gens ideally you want to hook survivors close to a gen with alot of progress kick it and keep pressure in that area (not camping but patroling so your terror radius keeps going off) scareing off an forceing survivors to abandon that gen then restart on another. Also be aware of what gens your favoring don't run across the map if it could screw up a 3 gen even if you know someones there sometimes you gotta let a gen go (unless your killer has traversal abilitys and you know you can make it back to keep pressure on the 3 gen setup).
-
@truegod_10 said:
Depends how quickly survivors get blinded and if it works off things like blast mine.
I would literally intentionally blind myself with blast mine if it meant some survivor across the map also got blinded for a few seconds. Would be hilarious.
I was thinking it be a radius thing like once a flashlight shines on any part of the killers body for atleast 2.5/2/1.5 seconds it flashes everything in a 11/12/13m raduis basicly making the killer a blast mine.

I also have that idea before, but feel like redundant because you can technically trap next to windows. The only problem that its abit hard to do so when survivor will not get trapped from slow vault if you trap too far, or they fast vault over trap if you trap too close.
Ya I thought of that too. but if done in the right way it could work. I was thinking the spikes would only injure/ deep wound a survivor and be more hidden, for example the spikes stay conceld an pop out while/after the window is vaulted. slow/medium vaults injure, fast vaults avoid the spikes popping out but that windows now traped making you chose between another safe zone or running that loop and getting injured then deep wound. Id even vote for slow vaults insta downing on spike traps.
-
@gilgamer said:
You actually answer you're own question no she doesn't have consistent counter play that's why she is a problem and why no one wants to play against her(obviously some do but most don't) so yeah obviously people are gonna dc against her since bhvr seems to refuse to do anything about her
How so? flashlights cancel her power you can back track over your scratch marks to confuse plus the addition of flashbangs you can throw right infront of her husk and cancel the phase. The problem is when survivors DC every match they get no practice therfore never learn how to play against spirit.
-
I'm not a traper main so my opinion dosint mean much.
I think I'd be cool if he got diffrent kinds of traps he can switch too while keeping his base ability like clowns antidote bottle. Something like spikes that can be placed on windows to injure or somkinda pallet booby trap.

I don't think there's a good answer for this after reading the comments. sometimes ill run 4 hex's that basicly do nothing except be hex's just to troll survivors, im talking - hex: undying, retribution, thrill of hunt, hanted grounds / 3rd seal for Detective. It basiclly makes every hex a pointless objective survivors get punished for doing. I think it comes down to reading the killer and guessing the perks to decided on cleansing imo.
-
I don't think anyone's serious when they call it bad, I jokingly call SC a trash perk all the time knowing full well it has its uses an was probly my first teachable.
The problem is when survivors start useing SC beside u while your repairing a gen that's 80% done an the obsession's getting chased half way across the map. FFS Just help me finish the gen then ill heal you so you can stop wasting time / baiting everyone with NC to meh gens.

I agree.
I went over all (modern) addon sets, and there are patterns I've noticed. I think there may be 3 designers that all design addon sets differently, but this is entirely a theory.
Firstly, one favors really oddball addons, with some being the killer's teachables in the form of addons, random yellows and browns that give unique and sometimes useless effects, status effect addons, sometimes terrible Iris, and very few addons that are actually GOOD for the killer (even if the good ones are really good). I'd apply this to Twins, Bubba, Demo, Billy, Freddy, Nurse, and Pig (though pig doesn't have a modern addon set, so you can take her out of this one). I hate this kind of addon set.
Next, it feels like another favors really basic and sometimes unimaginative addons that typically just change up number values, which isn't always a bad thing. These addons, depending on what they affect, can either be really trash, mediocre, or really strong and useful. They typically have brown addons that have yellow, green, and purple variants. This applies to Ghostface, Nemesis, Plague, Spirit, Pyramid, Slinger, Hag, Doctor, Oni, and Legion. I can either hate or love the simplicity of this kind of addon set.
Lastly, there's a sort of mix of the previous two that can lean either way, and they're not very common. This variant of addon set can be pretty strong and full of useful addons. This kind of addon set can have a brown addon that has yellow-green variants, unique browns, some strong number value changing addons, unique Purple addons, and strong Pinks. There's usually a stand-out super-strong addon or two in one of these, as well as a meme addon. IMO, this variant applies to Trickster, Blight, Wraith, Clown, kinda Huntress, somewhat Myers (lacks a modern addon set though, so eh) and kinda Trapper (who could also fit in the previous one).
Ya I noticed almost every killer after the release of oni has got weird addons that constantly need reworks. Personally I like Onis set the best an think he should be used as a standard tbh. His Iri's are basicly 2 free good perks (infectious & nurses) then his purples and greens even tho mostly stat modifiers can change how you use his ability drastically an can be shaped an stacked diffrent ways to make him fit whatever play style u like you can use the lion fang + tenugi to slug em all or topknot + cruch to turn your demon dash into a terrifying weapon.
Basicly I think a gudieline for addons should be made. (But its my own personal opinion its fine to disagree)
Iri's - should be variants of perks
Purples - buff or extend your power considerably
Greens - be a combination of ability modifiers that change how the ability works or stat modifyers that can be stacked w purples or yellows.
Yellows - help with more passive things like ability recovery times or the amount of something you have.
Browns - more beginner or challenge addons that show area of effects or BP bonuses. Although personally I think they should just scrap the challenge perks and just make them BP bonuses with a meme ability like clowns confetti bottle.
-
@WhiskeyJ1 said:
I personally believe that his power and everything about it completely fine, its just that he needs better addons, because the only good ones are his fatigue-reduction and duration addons whilst everything else is complete trash and don't compliment his ability in anyway shaped or formed.
I like his iri button w coulrophobia and /or overwhelming if you keep ur frenzy going it makes it a ######### to heal combind with other perks like DL an Sloppy but not really practical to dedicate that may perks too 1 ultra rare addon.
-
Wow the devs screwd this one up. I bet it was in hopes to nerf spirit not realizing they nerfd a bunch of playstyles and addons an perks. if it nerfs strider thats just stupid. You used to have to combine off the record or no mither to get the same effect so essentially survivors just got a free perk slot.
-
I don't I'll change my perks to light born or something if I see a bunch of flashlights but never dodged a lobby. The way I see it if ur not willing to challange your self you'll never get better at the game. I don't care if a group of swf with 3 flashlights an a key want to call me trash after they hatch escape I still did my challenge 🙃.
-
Cause survivors like this have never been good at a game in there life and Dbd is easy to feel good at if you follow all the meta strategies like a robot an get good Rng. Don't worry these survivors are the toxic kind that will put down there own team for not running basic ass perks. Just ignore it an move on literally not worth the energy or thought.
Braging about survivor is like braging about being the world's best parking attendant, you may feel good but nooby gives a crap.

Because the devs are bad at making addons that synergize with the same character you're using them with.....
So the ultimate answer to your question is.....there is no point....
I can't help but feel like I just got scamed. Atleast ik who to prestige last lmao.

When a better game/games of this type come out and its already happening. Id give Dbd 2-3 years max before more simaller games take it off the market. So my last straw will be the game focusing on silly cosmetics instead of updating it to compete with the new/current gen.

There used to be an old console exploit where you could test ur nat and force survivors to quit (fixed now) but with the killer being the host players are always going to find ways to exploit this all the Host aka killer has to do is find a way to disrupt the survivors connection so they dc. This will always be an issue until this game decides to invest in dedicated servers.

It cancels the grab when the survivor has already let go on their side, which means they didn’t commit to the unhook.
They committed when they started unhooking in the first place.

You mean you start to grab them, stop, and they continue the unhook prompt uninterrupted? Can’t say I’ve ever seen that happen in over 2000 hours. Sounds like maybe an issue with your connection, or the servers.
No they cancel the unook animation in turn canceling ur grab animation. Then someone else runs up and saves well the other guys canceling grab animations an taking no damage. this happens all the time in my over 3000 hours.
-
@ThanksForDaily said:
So, if the killer decides to camp the first hooked survivor game is over for him and for the other players.
Terrible idea. No, thank you.
No not at all there's many options
Like Have a team take a protection hit while you save or wait for the killer to hit you while getting a protection score then unhook while he whipes his weapon also if the killers camping it means you can easily rush the first 3 gens so idk how this throws the round for anybody? All camping dose is hurt the killer and make for a boring game. But its not op by anymeans. Also pepole would less likely be slugged by the hook plus there's plenty of opertunity to pull off a save while the killers distracted grabbing someone. It literally only effects survivors who make bad dessions..
-
Ya idk why pepole see this as a "free kill"
It A. Takes up a useful perk slot
B. Survivors have the entire round to counter it by simply cleansing totems.
-

stop camping, and I won't have to pretend to unhook! ;)
What if I told you I just poped a gen injuerd a survivor then came back to the hook cause ur almost done the escape phase and survivor's make the most predictable last second saves ;) but you'll still think i sat there watching the hook the entire time.
-
@GrimoireWeiss said:
This would just make camping even easier.
Not really.. its actully sad to see how many pepole rely on this tactic. I Use perks like desperate measures an Mome so taking a hit before an unhook means no protection score i just wait till the killers not looking and get a fast unhook with DM or wait for a teammate to show up for support.
-
@xenotimebong said:
I don’t see what problem this is intended to address. If you know they’re faking, you just have to call their bluff and wait for them to commit. The survivor on the hook is on a timer, they have to commit at some point.
I'm addressing the issue of broken grabs. The killers hand can be on a survivors shoulder lifting them up and they can just be like nope im going cancel ur legit grab, this also requires verry Minamal reaction time. Tbh if ur making an unsafe rescue you should be grabed there's many perks that can help unhook faster and teammates can take protection hits. So my issue is I see alot of survivors basicly exploit this. Half the time is 1 survivor "exploiting" the pickup animation well the other saves right after then buddy on the hook uses BT and u are effectively in the same place with 3 healthy and 1 ingured after the entire fiasco.

No. Other players do not exist to be punching bags for you or anyone else to "work out some anger."
Lmao you misunderstand. No survivors are not meant to be punching bags(but are meant to be killed.) infact id argue survivors will literally be used as punching bags (getting smaked on the hook by campers) If the game becomes too survivor sided, pepole don't realize if the killer gets fkd by game mechanics like survivors dropping all the pallets in chase knowing they don't have to strategicly use them bc there teams just going to rush all gens in the first minute anyway. All I'm saying is survivors should not be expecting an escape every round.
Killers aren't there for you to taunt and Tbag while you hide behind an RNG wall then message after like it was all skill and you didn't just spawn in autohaven with a rnk1 carrying everyone.
As for your stupid comment. Yes this games a way for some people to work a bit of anger out in the same way any other game would be. Video games are a coping mechanism for alot of pepole especially those who have experienced trauma or PTSD. ik it sounds counter intuitive for a vilent game but trust its not.
-
I'm sure the killer mains would love it considering boarded up walls generally create longer loops or located beside window vaults making them safe.
I can really only think of 2 maps this would be helpful on, the one boarded up room in Glenvale and some rooms on midwitch.
-
This game was meant for killers to get 4ks! The whole idea was your this weaker being trying to defy all odds and survive! Survivor was meant to be challenging and killer was meant to be a good way of getting some workig out some anger. So NO just cause a bunch of survivors started grouping up an getting all sweaty treating this like an e-sports bc there to pussy to actually play a real e-sports game dose not mean we should ruin the experience.
The game should be in a way that the killer has to make mistakes in order to loose but rn its the other way around. The killer could do everything perfect and still loose..
Avrage Joe > mystical beings w super powers.
-
Trapper should carry more traps. Mabye a faster setting animation or throwable traps would be cool.
Legion needs to be reworked verry carefully bc alot of people (including me) enjoy useing his frenzy. Mabye putting in the "npc's" everyone's talking about and allowing you to switch between them well keeping his frenzy. Another option could be removing the frenzy timer thus giving unlimited frenzy duration forceing survivors to stun you to put it on cool down.
