Slugging was never intended mechanic and no-one can convince me otherwise so is dc and dc isn't bannable nor is slugging/tunelling

I mean, there's the fact that the devs literally created the mechanic and have repeatedly said it's an intended mechanic, but you do you, I guess. Just know that the devs' opinions on what is or isn't intended outweigh all of ours.

  • @justbecause said:

This story has two sides a person who dc'd for hatch and you who slugged for 4k so you both did "legit strategies" which none is legit but both works for them to escape and for you to get 4k so I wouldn't overthink too much about this

Slugging is legit, though. DCing is literally against the rules.

The only people who get upset about dcs are sweaty killer mains. As a survivor if one or more people dc it means youre either getting a farming match as a result or a very quick over and done with match as a result. As survivor you can move on pretty easily. Its the sweaty killer mains who get salty because it robs them of more points and ruins their experience more than anyone elses because it becomes a game of shooting fish in a barrel or theyre forced to farm instead of camping and tunneling everyone.

I'm a survivor main and am upset about DCs because I can't have a normal trial without someone DCing because they were found first or whatever. What else have you got?

Killer can never hold the game hostage.

You can bring items (and try to keep them) and the killer can bring Franklin's and try and destroy your item. You sre both in your rights to do whatever you want. If it prolongs the game because you both being petty thats your issue.

Killer can never hold the game hostage.

Patently false. Killers can bodyblock survivors in corners, for instance.

  • Both, IMO, though he was clearly a dick.

  • They do, yes. There's a bug where, if you finish as Victor, you don't get the crown. Always make sure you're playing Charlotte before the trial ends.

Ok so now you saying not gonna stop mentioning it until I say I am wrong?

    Never.

Unlike most cases when people use fictional characters to make certain events they blame the people not the characters but in Slenderman's case people always blame him and always bring it up as some kind of point and I am extremely tired of it.

Tons of events caused by characters like Joker and Freddy Kruger happened in real life but the reason we don't hear it as much is that majority rather focus on the good and bad memories and not the tragic ones.

    Again......Move on.

Not gonna back down cause I am getting sick of people blaming Slenderman all the time and people that keep mentioning that event to prove some kind of point and not some other point that involves the character and but always event surrounding him.

So I ask politely........please leave it.

Ok so now you saying not gonna stop mentioning it until I say I am wrong?

No, just until you acknowledge what I'm actually saying, so I know we're having an actual conversation instead of this one-way accusation where you ignore everything I say.

I already told you, repeatedly, that I'm not accusing a fictional character of anything. I'm stating the fact that something negative associated with that character happened and, therefore, it can be a bit of an issue.

You say you shouldn't blame the fictional character, which is obvious, but think about how the devs would feel if someone showed up on the news saying they'd done something horrible because of DbD. Intellectually, they'd know they weren't responsible, but any normal person would feel guilty nonetheless.

  • And how it is, is just RNG. If you're expecting one perk out of literally dozens to show up in one of two slots, it's no wonder you're regularly disappointed.

  • @Mr_Madness said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2372563#Comment_2372563

It's only common if people believed he was actually involved since Firefighters are always involved in putting out the fires so everyone believes and knows that in general.

I even have some friends that never knew the "Psycho event" and were generally surprised and that was recently when I started discussing Slenderman in DBD and what people might say as an excuse of not wanting him which they were surprised at learning about Psycho part.

Again tragic event but blame the people involved not the fictional character that was made up from some photos.

Lastly, let's moves on since this is irrelevant and sick of being forced to bring it up

Again, didn't blame anyone, I mentioned the association. I'll stop mentioning it when you acknowledge that bringing up negative events that people associate with something/someone is not the same as blaming that thing/person for those events.

  • Play as her, figure out possible counters, then attempt those possible counters. Always keep in mind that no counter is perfect and you will likely fail the first few attempts, especially since your starting position is "Spirit can't be countered".

Let's just hope the execution is good though lol.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2372196#Comment_2372196

Yes it's the first thing that comes to mind but that does not mean you should have the need to bring it up, I can list tons of similar cases to that like Freddy Kruger but that would be uncivil but also horrible, and because again blaming a fictional character and no one should associate something that happened to something that does not exist.

Him being a "Meme" and being early creepypasta is a good opinion sure which is understandable but no one should be like "Oh that character is connected to "Blank" That happened in real life so I blame them and despise everything"

You say you're not blaming but also saying it's a common association which is same thing as pointing the finger.

Not gonna go deeper into this but I am so sick of hearing this because people had to point the finger at a fictional character cause something bad happened that involved that time. A lot of bad stuff happens in real life but that does not mean we should have the need to keep bringing it up and blame a fictional character that only involvement was being mentioned and instead blame the real flesh and blood people.

He has a lot of potential to be ingame but people won't see it if people keep blaming him for something that was not his fault because again not real and should not keep blaming and associating him with it.

And that's my opinion on that matter and would like to move on and never be mentioned of that ever again because I am so sick of the same thing over and over again.

You say you're not blaming but also saying it's a common association which is same thing as pointing the finger.

No, it's saying it's a common association. Firefighters are associated with fire, does that mean I'm blaming firefighters for fires? Yes, I know that example sounds ridiculous, it's on purpose to point out how weird your statement is.

You know after checking the announcement for the anniversary shrine they said that it would "feature Perks from almost every single character in Dead by Daylight" can you tell me how statistically possible that would be if it were completely random?

My guess would be "very", since the Shrine changed every day for two weeks. That's 56 perks, 28 killer perks and 28 survivor perks. Given the rules governing the Shrine and the fact that there are 27 survivors and 24 killers, it sounds very likely.

    @lagosta said:

Shrines are not random. We've been in a drought of BBQ/DS for almost a year before.

Aftercare, Solidarity, Wake Up!, and Dying Light haven't been in the Shrine for a year or more either.

It does kind of raise the question of why auric cells are so much more expensive in some regions compared to others.

In capitalism, prices are primarily based on two things:

    • How much people are willing to pay for a product.
    • How much people can pay for a product.

This is an oversimplification, obviously, but that's how it works.

IMO, it's utter crap, because if you sell a game for the equivalent of 20 EUR, for instance, it's because can afford to sell it at 20 EUR - companies don't sell things at low prices for shits and giggles, they always expect to turn a profit. To me, this indicates that games are usually double or triple the price they could otherwise be. However, that's how pricing works.

    All jokes aside...

Goes to show how killers also can abuse the DC penalty being removed & be absolute cucks about it, not just survivors. Although, the killer mains on this forum will choose to ignore this.

Why are you trying to make this a killer vs. survivor thing?

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2372353#Comment_2372353

Alright you know what, I dont think we'll see eye to eye on this because of there being an assumption of intent or a lack there of, as well as a certain amount of trust or distrust in bhvr staying to their words or just not communicating properly in house. Personally I have absolutely zero trust in bhvr almost ever being completely honest as a business and so assume the worst in most things while trying to be as objective as possible but I still have my bias and you have yours.

As such we'll just go in circles with neither agreeing, ill just say that I'll respect your opinion on it and end it there.

Yeah, you can't be unbiased if you just assume everything they say is a lie. Those are literal opposites.

It'd be quite easy to prove your position, if it is indeed true, by doing a little math. Knowing what I know about probability and the human brain's incessant pattern-recognition that leads people to conjure up conspiracy theories from random, uncorrelated events, and looking at the actual data, I'm confident that it's random (within the parameters that BHVR has explicitly mentioned).

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2372328#Comment_2372328

How can you see the event shrine and think it was random genuine question

Because it looks random. You see a pattern because you're looking for one (perks you want vs. perks you don't want). Fact is, coincidences do happen. Just look up the Feynman Point. That's a seemingly non-random sequence in an otherwise random set of digits. These things happen in random systems. It doesn't prove some big conspiracy.

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2372281#Comment_2372281

I literally don't have too you just have to look at the event shrine, you can't look at that line up and say it wasn't curated, and if they did it then why is it such a leap in logic to assume they've done it at least somewhat for awhile.

Well, I don't have to either, because I look at it and see randomness. Now what?

Humans don't inherently understand probability. Unless you studied it, what you see is just your brain's pattern-recognition trying to extrapolate from random noise.

  • To those saying "console" has more players than PC:

"Console" is not one platform. DbD has been released on five different consoles, all of them with different hardware.

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2372268#Comment_2372268

What do you mean either way supports my belief? I offered statistical anomalies, the shrine during the event was clearly curated to be better then normal, because they wanted people to play during the event its not hard to understand the motive there yet the rest of the year they drop bbq like once a year.

I'm saying that you're offering what you claim are statistical anomalies, even though they're complete opposites, as "evidence" that the Shrine is rigged.

If the Shrine is rigged, it should be easy to prove. The wiki has every Shrine ever, just do the math. Keep in mind the following when you do that:

    • The total number of perks in each Shrine is not the same, due to new DLCs being released.
    • Perks that are required for challenges show up on the Shrine, to allow people to complete those challenges.
    • There are 2 survivor perks and 2 killer perks nowadays, but that wasn't the case before.
  • @gilgamer said:

I'm 100% sure that it's not completely random, too many perks show up way to frequently and a many if the highly sought after perks like BBQ show up so infrequently. If I were to guess its probably a mix of random and curated, probably randomize it initially and then they curate it from there. The event shop confirmed that they absolutely have the ability to curate the shop ex:Ruin/undying in the same shrine, I mean cmon. As well as just most of the first couple days the shrine was just filled with mostly meta perks, I refuse to believe it was a coincidence.

To be clear, you're saying it's curated because:

    • Perks most people want (which are a minority of perks overall) don't show up often.

    But also because:

    • Perks most people want showed up.

So it doesn't matter if the perks you want appear or not, because either way you believe the Shrine is rigged and use completely contradictory statements and events to "support" that notion.

As for "highly sought after perks" (i.e.: meta perks) showing up infrequently, that's just probability. Meta perks are always a minority among all perks. Furthermore, meta perks would always have a lower overall frequency because they were created/introduced after the Shrine. See my analogy here:

    @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2359464#Comment_2359464

You mean the oldest licensed characters have had their perks appear more often than newer ones? Why is that in any way surprising?

Think of an opaque bag with numbered balls 1-10. If I keep drawing them, then putting them back in the bag, I have a 1/10 chance to draw any one of them, right?

Now say I drew them 100 times and every ball 1-10 was drawn between 8 and 12 times. Now you add a new ball, numbered 11, and I draw them 100 times yet again. Would you expect the 1-10 balls to have fewer total draws than the 11th, keeping in mind the 100 previous draws without ball 11?

Yes, some perks can appear more often than others, even if they have the same probability to appear. That's how probability works.

  • Follow the rules (the real rules, not player-imagined rules) and you're playing fair.

Play how you want within that context and you're playing organically.

Self-imposing arbitrary restrictions is the opposite of organic.

I'm surprised because Laurie's perk Soul Survivor was in the first Shrine of Secrets, then Dying Light was in the second shrine, then Decisive Strike in the 3rd and Object of Obsession in the 4th. Maybe because - of the 10 weeks between the release of the first shrine and the end of 2016, Michael and Laurie's perks appeared in 8 out of 10 shrines. According to the logic that everyone goes by (newly released perks don't show up in the shrine until a certain amount of time has passed), this doesn't make any sense. None of this makes any sense. BHVR just isn't being clear about how the shrine works and it's really deceptive.

Personally, I think Helen united with Candyman in the end. I know there's little evidence to support this, but just her announcing her love to him and her being a spector as well makes me think this

Unless I've been in a coma for several months, he hasn't even been added to DbD. How can he be a "poor man's Doctor"?

Personally, I liked his backstory, his motivation, and Tony Todd's voice just gives him that extra "oomph" to really stand out. The first time he appears and speaks just sticks with you, as do the brutal kills.

  • On the one hand, I agree. Too many people just blame "the other side" for everything that's wrong with the game.

Here's the thing, though: some negative aspects of the game are the fault of people on one side or the other. Here are a couple examples:

    • Why don't we have anti-camping mechanics like slowing down sacrifice speed? Because survivors abused it.
    • Why can't killers see survivors' ranks? Because killers abused it.

If I were to mention either one on its own, I'd be accused of anti-[side] or pro-[other side] bias, because people think being "unbiased" means you have to either criticize everything or praise everything, no matter if you're criticizing/praising one side for something mild and another for something serious; gotta engage in false equivalences or you're not "unbiased".

Furthermore, some things are connected. Gen speed and sacrifice speed, for instance. Can't change one without at least thinking about how it affects the other. It's not "us vs. them" or "whataboutism" to consider the game as a whole.

Yeah, like 95% of the players, but some are games destroyers who like to finish 100% of their games, and this kind of design makes ending 100% of the game impossible, or you have sooooo much hours.

Isn't that the point of trying to go for 100%, that you have to play a lot? I doubt people who like to go for 100% would enjoy a game that'd just hand them everything without any challenge.

One thing I dinr under stand is what do you mean by change playstyle some killers only have 1 play style.

Do you expect nurse to not blink and then get satly when she dose?

There are many ways to use the same power. You know how some Doctors try to get everyone to Madness 3, while others just use the Static Blast to find survivors and then shock them to prevent them from using pallets or vaulting or whatever? That's what a playstyle is: even when you have the same tools, you can still play differently.

Literally my only question to that then (and obviously not pointed at you because it sounds like you don't believe it) is when do they think All-Kill was going to be released? Do people think it was created and "ready" for ptb in 2 months?

What does All-Kill have to do with it, though?

For what it's worth, I think the devs have stated that by the time one chapter releases, they've already been working on the next one for some time.

To be fair, a lot of people said it was Pyramid Head based on the stylized number 4. I (and others) dismissed it because the number 4 just looks like Pyramid Head by default.

Except the entity is not real and its satisfaction doesn't matter. However, contrary to what you killers believe survivors are actually humans who do have feelings. If he was doing whatever he was doing In order to help his teammates remain in the game and keep playing and enjoying the game then it's at least somewhat justified. Ruining other people's experience to make the entity "happy" isn't a justification.

And the killer has to kill, or the Entity will become upset.

Going beyond the RP for a bit, the fact is, you were both wasting each other's time, as well as your own. I'm sure the killer was also wondering why you weren't doing anything.

This is essentially why they could not ban for it. Since the EGC timer is running, the match will end, so there's no taking the game hostage going on.

Since this is highly visible and easily reproduced I'd wager it is patched out next update.

There are other rules besides not holding the game hostage.

It's funny because it's the person with the spirit profile picture complaining about the dc penalty lol

On a serious note, I wish they'd let you dc once a day, and from there you'd start getting the penalty. That would also help people who were kicked of the match for a game/connection problem.

You do get a freebie for real-life emergencies, but it's not once per day. Nobody knows when the timer resets.

The best way to avoid the DC penalty is to not DC.

  • Neither.

You can't nerf SWF without nerfing solo survivor because the advantages inherent to SWF (queuing up with players you're familiar with and whose playstyle you know), as well as the advantages you can only get with SWF (voice chat with teammates) are not actually present in the game by default.

You also can't reward killers for losing to SWF. Putting aside the fact that rewarding someone for losing is completely backwards to begin with, paying someone after you punch them in the face as "compensation" isn't going to make it hurt or suck less.

What the devs need to do is to try to bridge the gap between solo queue and SWF while buffing killers accordingly. I want to emphasize that word, "while". "While" means "at the same time as", not "after". So no buffing solo survivors, then leaving killers in the dust for two months. This needs to happen simultaneously.

Sorry but whether they like it or not is irrelivant.

You should not get a advantage in a game because of your choice of monitor and if there is no way to fix it outside of black bars they just have to deal with it.

If there is another way to make it work without giving an advantage i would be all for it but letting them cheat because they don't like the fix to it is just silly

Oh, I agree. However, I'm pretty sure that's why the devs don't want to use black bars, because the ultrawide people won't like it.

  • People will ultrawide monitors don't like the black bars. They got too used to the larger monitor size, so it feels off-putting.

Try looking up how small early 90s monitors were, compared to nowadays. Now imagine using that instead of your current screen. That's how it feels for people on ultrawide to play at standard screen sizes.

So you think the game should be balanced in a way that guarantees survivors to die relatively quickly in chase? Even with killers who are designed to ignore every defense a survivor has like pallets and windows? If every killer was like Nurse the game would really suck.

I think the game should be balanced in a way that doesn't make each individual survivor as powerful as each individual killer, seeing as how there are four survivors to one killer. Again, the game is 4v1, not 1v1.

I don't understand why people pick the survivor role if they expect to 1v1 the killer and win. The game is based on 80s slasher flicks. How do those usually end, exactly? How many of the survivors escape?
