  • No. Most people are DCing for the same reasons as before (mainly, they believe their opponents should not be allowed to use certain strategies that they don't like, nor should they be "forced" to stay in a trial that doesn't go perfectly from start to finish).

  • PC, which had performance issues as well, back in the day.

The other hotfix patch released in June made performance worse.

We've never seen a performance upgrade on current-gen systems.

I have zero confidence in BHVR's ability to fix the real underlying problem, but I think they can make the game run like before RE.

But if it doesn't, a lot of people are going to quit.

Unless you're using the royal "we", then you're wrong. I have indeed experienced performance upgrades since I started playing. Several times, as a matter of fact.

  • This has always been the case. That's why "nobody noticed", because literally nothing changed.

    • Any "short" characters (meaning about a meter tall or less).
    • Any characters from series based on jump-scares. I dislike jump-scares as a whole, they're not scary so much as they are surprising. A character from these series would probably be sub-par, to say the least, since jump-scares are usually what you do when your monster isn't actually scary enough.
  • Will it completely fix everything that's wrong with the game? No.

Will it fix many issues? Yes.

Will it fix all the issues you want? I don't know, but probably not.

Will people still complain that they didn't fix [insert thing here]? Definitely.

  • Wasn't that just one of the things they were considering? I think it's clear they're going the bot route, which is much fairer.

never understood the point of red herring like why would I actually use that perk

To draw the killer to an empty corner of the map while you and your teammates work on generators. Works wonders, if you use it right.

  • @Timtom24 said:

that would be nice as well but wouldnt happen for dbd sadly. "would be too much work"

Given all the changes the game has undergone through the years? Yes, it would be. KYF would be one thing, but the bots would either have to be able to adapt to different mechanics (despite having the same base code), or the devs would need to code bots for each version of the game.

  • Define "efficient". Is it the one that minimizes the cost of that particular path, or tries to minimize the cost of the overall bloodweb, or the shortest path?

Okay obvs a 5h candle is through the back area and looks nothing like a candle, got it.

Candles look like anything. They're made of wax.

  • @Mushwin said:

No Orion, it is not a candle and people are trying to make it out as a candle when there are four obvs candle faces, there is no other candle

Why would there be a face? Look at the DbD logo.

  • @Mushwin said:

why make 4 obvious candles with faces on it and instead of a mistake people are like oh its under the candle, its white with no face its a candle LOL

If that is a candle then i am Donald trump that is not a candle

It's behind the other candles. You only see the parts that stick out on either side. Again, this was all mentioned to you before.

  • @Mushwin said:

I see four candles, one who has a fly on it...

Well, it's there. Try overlaying the DbD logo on top of the image, maybe it'll help you see.

are "suppose to be" but sorry i see four candles this isn't a magic trick clearly someone messed up i see four candles and nothing else

Well, someone already pointed out where the fifth one is, I'm not sure what more you need.

If you didnt want to comment on a second thread then perhaps dont, there is no clear 5th candle clearly there is no 5th candle and they ballsed it up.

You were literally just told where the fifth candle is. The candles are supposed to be like the DbD logo, with the four vertical lines representing four survivors and the diagonal line representing the killer.

Like I said what else exists? If you can't use pallets or windows eventually she will catch up no matter what. Obviously if the Nurse is bad she'll miss a lot but a good enough Nurse won't miss. If you run in a straight line or break line of sight or whatever she will catch up.

Without pallets and windows you'd just be holding W and that works until the killer catches up.

Like I said what else exists?

Eyes, brains, hand-eye coordination, and memory. Like I said.

If you can't use pallets or windows eventually she will catch up no matter what.

That's the thing: you can use them, but you have to use them differently than when you're going up against other killers.

Obviously if the Nurse is bad she'll miss a lot but a good enough Nurse won't miss.

Every Nurse can miss because every player can miss because nobody is perfect. However, just for the sake of argument, if she doesn't miss, if she plays perfectly, but you don't, then why should she lose?

If you run in a straight line or break line of sight or whatever she will catch up.

Every killer will catch up, eventually. That's a non-issue. Running in a straight line against a killer whose power lets them move in a straight line very quickly is just a bad idea. You wouldn't do that against a Hillbilly, would you?

Without pallets and windows you'd just be holding W and that works until the killer catches up.

Which is true of any killer. However, like I said, you can use pallets and windows against her, just differently.

  • @gendoss said:

Her power has a short cool down... Once the cool down expires with 2 blinks you move like double the distance that a survivor does. Do you not think Nurse is the best killer? Like literally everybody thinks her and Spirit are the only ones who can actually take down tournament teams.

Her power has a short cool down... Once the cool down expires with 2 blinks you move like double the distance that a survivor does.

Like I said, you need to understand her power if you expect to counter her, not just memorize mechanical facts.

Do you not think Nurse is the best killer?

I think she's the only killer whose skill ceiling is determined by the player. However, that doesn't make her unbalanced. "Best" doesn't mean "unbalanced", it just means "best". And she's only the "best" because survivors don't know how to play against her and refuse to learn, since it's easier to stick to pallets and windows while claiming they're the only things you can use and literally nothing else exists in the game.

  • @gendoss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2376986#Comment_2376986

Nurse can catch up to a survivor extremely quickly, guarantee a down, and doesn't care about pallets/windows. What other defenses are there? Stealth? It's definitely stretching to say a full team can out stealth a really good Nurse.

Nurse can catch up to a survivor extremely quickly

Her blinks are not instantaneous and she has a limited blink range.

    guarantee a down

100% false. As a matter of fact, she's the only killer who can't guarantee a down, because she's inherently slower than survivors. If the survivor knows how her power works and what her weaknesses are, she's screwed.

    and doesn't care about pallets/windows

Also not true. The problem is that you're thinking that her power is always available in every situation and don't really understand how it works. I regularly stun Nurses on purpose because I do know how her power works.

What other defenses are there? Stealth? It's definitely stretching to say a full team can out stealth a really good Nurse.

Eyes, brains, hand-eye coordination, knowledge. Mostly knowledge. Understand how she works (not just remembering numbers and data, but actually playing her and understanding how she works) and you can beat her.

    I don't know Orion.

I feel like someone INSTANTLY healing or someone running at speeds FASTER than they are allowed is typically a red flag.

Simply put, without getting too much into this because it's probably against the rules to talk in-depth about cheats and cheating, what constitutes "normal" can be changed by cheats.

It's not fair if it's a rank 1 going against a team of rank 15s. It's also not fair if it's a Nurse vs. an okay team of players. Nurse is designed to literally counter pallets and windows. How is a killer who counters all of the survivor's defenses fair? Those are objective balancing issues.

It's not fair if it's a rank 1 going against a team of rank 15s.

That's a matchmaking issue, not a balance issue. Balance is when players of equal skill play against each other.

It's also not fair if it's a Nurse vs. an okay team of players. Nurse is designed to literally counter pallets and windows. How is a killer who counters all of the survivor's defenses fair?

Nurse has her own counters that survivors can learn, and those are not the only defenses survivors have, they're just the easiest to use (and the most popular).

Even DbD will die, eventually. And if they keep going this way, it will be sooner than later. I mean, other than the fact that they activated an event with the dreadful state console were in, not giving two shytes about that (without even taking into consideration that their BIG anniversary event was just a copy and paste from last year), they are the first and only devs I've seen that were able to bug characters (or aspects of the game) they didn't even touch. People are going to get burnt out, eventually, if they haven't been doing so already due to the constant tunneling/camping/SWF and all of the things we already know about. But I guess that's the price of money. When they started out, they were just a little indie company, with a very basic game and not so many ways of earning money. Now that they've earned tons, they must feel like they are no longer as they were before, elevating themselves to levels that are too important for us, or to test things properly and give their playerbase, across all platforms, the proper consideration. And this is the result.

And if they keep going this way, it will be sooner than later.

People have been saying this from day 1. The game has only grown. You are right that DbD will eventually die because all games die, eventually, but this? Nah.

  • Nobody uses these add-ons, as far as I know, except maybe as a joke.

Seriously whats the point in having easyanticheat when it seems so damn easy to bypass?

In the last 4 days, in my killer games ive had SIX people in 5 games who were either speed hacking/using speed cheats or using a locker teleport cheat.

I've filed reports but nothing will be done because i have to record every single match it seems just to help BHVR do its job. But its now getting out of hand.

I love downing survivors only for them to crawl to the other side of the map in 0.8 seconds. I love chasing survivors with object of obsession to go into a locker, then appear on the other side of the map teabagging me (yes it was the same, it was a very clear outline of an ace while the other 3 were jake and nea)

And i know people will doubt it or think "deception" or "sprint burst" because ive seen that sort of reply before.

But after i accused someone of it post game months ago, i now keep a very close eye on deception. And only one person in all of those games mentioned ran it. And he wasnt even the one teleporting.

And for details on the speed hacking. Heres how it usually goes. I down someone near the killer shack, suddenly they have escaped the trial depsite exit gates being a mile away

If easy anti cheat is so god damn easy to bypass, why even have it? It aint stopping people from having cheat progams/hacks. This game is beyond toxic and a total time waste now.

If easy anti cheat is so god damn easy to bypass, why even have it? It aint stopping people from having cheat progams/hacks. This game is beyond toxic and a total time waste now.

Any anti-cheat can be bypassed with new cheats. That's how it works. An anti-cheat cannot prevent people from using a cheat that isn't in its database because it literally has no idea how the cheat works, and therefore will not register it as a cheat. They can know the general behavior of cheats, but if a new one comes along that behaves differently, it won't be caught.

It's kinda like vaccines. First the disease appears, then you study it, then you develop the vaccine.

Of course people are still gonna play a game they like. My friends are on last gen and they still play even though they complain literally every match about the frames. They play because other friends play and they want to play with friends. This game is unplayable on last gen and has been for quite some time.

    You're missing the point.

Either the game is so unstable on consoles that the DC penalty is going to end up with console players permanently banned, in which case they shouldn't be playing at all because they clearly can't play, or it's stable enough that they can play and crash at the same rate as everyone else (i.e.: rarely), in which case the DC penalty is not an issue. Or it's somewhere in between.

Console players keep claiming the first, but the fact that they can keep playing tells me it's probably closer to the second. Either that or it is indeed the first and they're trying to play a game that they literally can't, thereby ruining everyone else's trials.

  • You need to look at the big picture here. You depipped in that trial, sure, but so did the killer. You'll pip in the next trial if you're good enough. However, if every survivor team did this and didn't engage with the killer in the chat, that killer would continuously depip and get pretty much no points, nor the rise that they want. Problem solved.

Right now there is optimisation issues which makes consoles fundamentally unable to play, which has afflicted a bunch of players on console. If you have played on console, you would know this. There is tonnes of threads saying the exact same. I think it's your experience which is the minority bud.

In contrast, pc players have fine optimisation as their pcs can handle it. I play on both, I play pc and PS4 depending on whether my little bro is on the pc. Pc players have been DC'ing a lot more, and pretty much anyone will back this up. Again, there's threads around this. Open your eyes.

Right now there is optimisation issues which makes consoles fundamentally unable to play, which has afflicted a bunch of players on console.

I know, for a fact, that it's not rendered them "fundamentally unable to play". Wanna know how I know this? Because console players keep playing. Hell, you can see them in this very thread.

As for crashes, a friend of mine with a better PC than mine has experienced crashes. It's not just consoles who are experiencing them. He'd still rather have the DC penalty enabled because he understands it's not about him, it's about everyone having a better overall experience.

There's been a massive influx of cheaters lately. Worse, they seem to have figured out how to block the ability to report them in game. BHVR needs to plug the leak and do a ban wave; it's been bad all month after a few months' relative peace.

In the meantime, I guess just keep filing reports when you can, and dodge any lobbies if you see a survivor with an overly long name.

Friday died to lack of content more than people not enjoying it which happened due to lawsuits. They got permission to make content eventually but the devs had moved on already. Dbd thrives due to constant new content otherwise it would probably have the same fate

DBD thrived since it was the first major game of this genre and got a huge license before F13th was even out. The original content is definitely good but wouldn’t really bring new players in as much as licensed. Any competitor is already at a huge disadvantage due to licenses alone

Friday died to lack of content more than people not enjoying it which happened due to lawsuits. They got permission to make content eventually but the devs had moved on already.

Not true. You can check the player numbers yourself, the peak number of players was about 5k just two months after release, compared to 16k at launch. Just look at the comparison data here:

An ongoing analysis of Steam's player numbers, seeing what's been played the most.

The game launched in 2017, whereas the lawsuit was in 2018. Numbers don't lie: the game was dying long before the lawsuit.

Trying to compete with dbd now with all of it’s licensed content is pretty much impossible though

I've heard this one a lot, but it doesn't change the fact that it was dying long before the lawsuit. Clearly, most people didn't enjoy it.

    Me neither.

Trying to compete with dbd now with all of it’s licensed content is pretty much impossible though

It's not the licensed content. F13th had one of the most requested killers and still failed. DbD launched without licensed content and succeeded. Original content is more enticing.

The problem was with those games is they cam out after dbd had taken over the genre. The only real competitor was Friday the 13th which was canned to license disputes

It was dying long before the license disputes, that's just a myth.

DbD has had plenty of competition, the competition just sucked, which is why it died.

Thank you for letting me know what "console" means! I'm too stupid to understand and I definitely asked you to explain it to me like I'm a particularly dim child. I'm aware that the game being crossplay helps with queue times, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't also give PC players the advantage, along with also giving them improved queue times as well. I don't see how your point about console players still playing this dogshit game has anything to do with the advantages PC players have against console players across most games, DBD included.

Thank you for letting me know what "console" means! I'm too stupid to understand and I definitely asked you to explain it to me like I'm a particularly dim child.

That's not what I did, but alright. It's just that you said crossplay is between "console and PC", when in fact it's between multiple systems and stores, some of which are on PC, and others are on the various consoles that have DbD.

I'm aware that the game being crossplay helps with queue times, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't also give PC players the advantage, along with also giving them improved queue times as well.

The main thing that gives PC players an advantage is the better control system. Performance is obviously also an issue, but even when that's fixed, PC players using a keyboard and mouse will still have the upper hand due to controllers being worse for DbD.

I don't see how your point about console players still playing this dogshit game has anything to do with the advantages PC players have against console players across most games, DBD included.

It doesn't, it was in reference to you saying that "PC players" are the ones who got the event extended, more BP, etc., like those things weren't given to the entire playerbase.

  • @meatisadelicacy said:

It seems like crossplay between PC and console always helps PC players. And in DBD, they got an extended event, extra shards and BP, because the game is broken on console. That makes sense.

If crossplay were restricted to just the platform you were on, you'd have to wait a lot longer to get a trial. Note that "console" is not a single platform, it's a term to describe a whole bunch of platforms.

Console players got those things too, and if the regular comments on the forum are anything to go by, console players are still playing the game.

Yes, relative to the survivors' base running speed of 4.0 m/s.

    Then fix the game.

I shouldn't be at an enormous disadvantage for daring to not play on PC.

Console players have always been treated as second-class.

They can try to fix the performance, but no amount of optimization is going to remove the inherent advantages of mouse & keyboard vs. gamepad. Each system has its pros and cons, but in this game, mouse & keyboard's advantages make them the better control system.

  • Aftercare, Alert, Dark Sense. See the killer and survivors everywhere, "all the time".

Dark Sense, Poised, Sprint Burst. Repair a gen, be gone by the time the killer comes to check, and leave no scratch marks. The killer is going to spend some time checking lockers while you're already working on another gen.

You're not disagreeing with them, you're refusing to acknowledge facts. There's a difference.

  • This is not a matter of opinion that we can "agree to disagree" on, it is an objective fact that creators/developers of a game are also the ones who decide the rules of the game.

When a game is created, it is created with rules. Those rules were decided upon by the game's creators and they alone can decide to change the rules. Players in custom matches can use different rules (Uno being a great example of this), but those are custom matches, not the "real" game.

That's how it works in every game ever made. Again, this isn't something we can "agree to disagree" on, it's how things work, objectively.

Right that's why they need community to make their game better because they know better than us...

Also doesn't matter what you call it don't be surprised when someone doesn't want to lay on floor forever until u chase down other person we came to play and with camping you can't play, slugging u can't play because ur on floor and tunelling u can't play unless u equipped perks and than they proceed to call u try hard because of perk choice etc etc point is don't be surprised

I'm a survivor main. Losing is part of any game, especially PvP, and your opponents are free to use whatever tactics they deem necessary to win (and make you lose).
