  • You're playing a new character, meaning you have fewer perks, meaning you'll be the easier target. This happens every single time. It happens to people trying out the new killer in the PTB as well.

I have been doing pretty well with him. Some of my favorite killer streamers have also been slaying with him, and are calling him overpowered. There's tons of spots at loops where it's hard to dodge the attack or the survivor is forced to vault; which is almost a guaranteed hit if you predict it.

Fair enough, it's impossible to dodge while vaulting due to the animation lock. However, if I was easily able to dodge it in those long, tight hallways in the Silent Hill map, I don't see why there'd be a problem on other maps.

  • Why are you unhooking in the killer's face, exactly?

  • TBH I'd prefer a Big Sister. Big Daddy is too sluggish.

  • Because Silent Hill?

I think he is strong enough to use IF on. If you are landing the M2's he downs people as fast as any other top tier killer. Then you slap on insidious for probably the cheesiest finisher in the game. You can be in a completely different room from a hook and still instantly nail them once they get off it into a BT/DS ignoring mori.

If you are landing the M2's

On the other hand, survivors are capable of motion, so that's virtually impossible if survivors are paying the slightest bit of attention.

  • Wow, there are actually people saying this who don't appear to be trolling/baiting. I'm honestly surprised.

Still, if you read the threads (or at least the one you actually linked to from all the way back in 2018), the vast majority of people are disagreeing with the OP. I skimmed through it a bit and I think I saw maybe a handful of people either agreeing outright or being unsure about the subject. That's certainly not "many people" and doesn't warrant all the threads that come up on the subject.

There are more threads and comments asking for the Wraith to not be invisible, just for the record, yet nobody makes a big deal out of that.

For the record, I didn't say this thread was bait, I said the other thread that was linked here looked like bait because the OP opened it and then never replied.

You've also yet to show anyone proof of people complaining about "racism" on the forum regarding Leatherface wearing Claudette's face.

IIRC devs have said slugging and camping isn't bannable. If you ban for letting people bleed out (Which isn't even a hostage situation since the game does eventually end and is in essence, extended slugging) and hitting on the hook (Toxic, but not much different from ordinary facecamping. IIRC when dedicated servers first went live you couldn't hit on the hook and it was later added back) you have to also ban teabagging and waiting at the exit gates.

Sandbagging is definitely bannable and people who intentionally screw over teammates definitely falls under griefing.

The problem is doing it regularly and to the same people. If I let a survivor bleed out every now and then, it's just random. If I let the same survivor bleed out every single time, that's griefing.

  • It may not seem like much, but this is actually a big deal.

  • @Eleghost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1356896#Comment_1356896

I don't believe any of those would be considered griefing from what i've read in the rules. I know for a fact sandbagging isn't and hitting on hooks isn't really "griefing" either. Bleed outs i don't believe are but could be. I'd assume if he got banned for griefing he had to have been doing something extremely bad such as working with the killer, body blocking in a corner for extended periods or something along those lines.

If you do those things repeatedly to the same people, I'm thinking it could be considered griefing.

  • Do you regularly let survivors bleed out on the floor, hit survivors on hooks, sandbag, anything like that?

Furry here, Furries don’t need fur to be a Furry. As long as it’s an animal with anthropomorphic qualities it counts.

On a side note, we do occasionally call Scaly Furries, ”Scalies”, Horse Furries, “Bronies”, etc.

That's what I thought, that it just had to be an anthropomorphic animal.

It's not always what's said, but what's inferred, and if you're don't like your words getting away from you, you should pick better words and make more well reasoned arguments. My whole point was why do we only need to focus on LGBT exclusively when before this month even started, we've been watching the world slowly unfurl from it's tightly maticulated matrix of servile obedience married with civil injustice into an open call for the restructure of some of our most nefarious, insidious institutions that have been allowed to exist for centuries.

How is vocalizing support for or even acknowledging a very current, very real event in human society unfolding infront of us, in anyway the same as having a discussion about global warming? And even if that were the case, didn't that Van Gretta girl get a time and platform for her points?

I get it dude, you don't want to be caught up in the hype and hysteria. I wasn't out there loving everything being done in the name of trying to make a change, and at first I was just like "this is all bullshit anyway, virtue signaling from celebs and a few folks acting crazy cuz they're couped up from Corona, this shits been happening and all of a sudden the US wants to rise and address it when it's convenient for them?"

But I had to step away from that mindset... Because at the end of the day, it's not anymore helpful or appreciative of what potential benefits we all may see as a people if these conversations are taken seriously. Sometimes you don't get to choose your heroes, and that's ok. The ends to the means are often more important than the means, hard fact of life.

You really don't get it, no. I support the BLM movement, but that's not the topic of the conversation. The topic is LGBT characters having their orientations confirmed, period. I also pointed out that support for BLM and support for the LGBT community in a video game take very different forms because you can't hide your skin tone, so it wouldn't make sense to give two groups the same representation; you can't "out" someone's skin tone, it's just readily apparent (although apparently even being white doesn't matter because people still notice you're of African descent).

That's literally it, just wanting to focus on one subject. If you want to talk about BLM, you can open another thread, I'd probably discuss it with you. We are in agreement that our situations are not comparable, which is why I felt your comment about showing support for BLM was completely out of place and likened it to comparing LGBT representation with saving the rainforest or stopping global warming (neither of which are political, BTW, it's just about survival of the human species on this planet). The situations are not comparable in any way and therefore should be handled differently.

Oh so we're pulling the "My struggle is more important than yours " card? Is that what you actually meant to illustrate with your words, or should I give you a second chance?

It's funny how LGBT always want to have that level of inclusion in discussing inequality, but want everything to take a backseat to their struggles and comment on their oppression as if it exists to any significant degree in most civilized countries.

But since YOU want to go there, you're ######### right I can't hide who I am or how I look, and because of that, I've been subject to the type of injustice that steps right to your front door, as well as the kind that seeps in the background, because I never had the benefit of being able to cloak myself.

Not saying that's right or a fair way to live, but if your going to sit here and make a mockery of the struggle of black folks by comparing the issue to ######### like the rainforest and intangible political issues like that, like really? Do you care that little about black folks you're going to allow your narrative to be "oh, put those blacks on the back burner, we don't have to address them right now, not even when there is a major race event affecting the Americas right now, let's ignore that, give cursory support to BLM or something"

I literally said none of that, but whatever floats your boat. Also, just for the record, my mother is from Africa (I won't specify the country because then people could discern which country I'm in), and despite me having light skin, people notice my African heritage.

  • The hatch has always spawned when the number of repaired generators exceeded the number of remaining survivors by one. More recently (but still quite a while ago), they changed it so it will always spawn and open for the last remaining survivor, regardless of the number of repaired generators.

Oh, was that included in the speech they made? In what way? Are we going to receive a cosmetic, have a original black character from the USA? Anything like promising to create a character? Maybe I missed it in the written speech as well, but I digress, it warrants equal measure treatment in my mind, does it not?

    1. It wasn't a speech, it was an image of written text (not even actual text, but an image of it).
    2. No, it was a different statement that I can't recall at the moment. They also didn't bring up the rainforest or global warming because the statement was about one thing and one thing only. It's OK to make separate statements on separate subjects.
    3. "Equal treatment" would be some characters who hadn't had their color revealed yet being revealed as black. Since that's literally impossible, no, you won't get equal treatment. You already got the better deal since the day the game was launched.

Although they have been conspicuously silent around the specific events of George Flynn, the current BLM situation, the protests and riots... Just saying, are we only paying attention to pride month in the interest of time? Why make such a strong statement about LGBTQ but completely ignore the riots and social unrest due to a significant cultural breakpoint that will forever change the structure of the police force, based on a history of injustice and abuse of African Americans ......

Just saying, it feels like maybe some time would have been allotted to addressing that in some way. To take the time to address one thing without the other? Like I said, I have no problem with the LGBT announcement if it's more than virtue signaling and comes from a genuine place of support (which I suspect it does) but why not extend that support to folks that may not have a heavy representation in your team, or even your audience, but would appreciate knowing said support exists to the same degree for them.

They actually did show support for BLM.

"I refuse to type out an argument" for a case that you presented in the first place, yeah, that makes sense. So you just want LGBT to the game because it has straight characters in it, that's your final statement then. Well now I really want that pony in DBD, good thing I don't even need to present a case as to why! I just want it so I am going to get it and anyone who is against it is anti-pony and should feel ashamed!

So you can't provide any argument for why LGBT characters require a specific reason to exist in a game, is what I'm hearing?

No I get that. What I mean is for those that have nothing specific mentioned yet can be meddled with. Yes it wont effect gameplay, but itll effect the integrity and respect for this game.

The characters are already there, nothing will be meddled with. The lore will simply be expanded, like they've been doing with the rifts.

  • @Dustin said:

@Orion "It's going to be written in the lore and not shoved in anyone's face."

And if that's the case then that's fine. Keep everything subtle and up to the player to realize or figure out for themselves. If someone has something explained to them every time a chance is given it annoys them. It would be the same if I posted about my preference each time I posted. Would be unnecessary.

You could easily argue that I'm worrying about this too much but this is a touchy subject and one misstep and it not only makes BHVR look bad but it makes the game look even worse. I do care about the game and the topic but I want to see it done the right way. This topic is such a minefield as it is.

While on mind have you a statement from BHVR regarding this topic only being in the lore? As I said it doesn't matter too much to me as long as it's done in such a way where it's not what defines the character for example and always the main topic.

No, I don't have any statement from BHVR, but that's how it was done for every straight character thus far, so I don't see why they'd change it now. Nobody's looking for preferential treatment or representation here, just equal.

If they made an LGBT character, why not state who? It's a game. I'd like to know when this was said as if it was said when the character was created rather than when this discussion came up would be interesting.

This was said a long time ago, I think last year.

They didn't state who because they originally said they didn't want to state characters' sexual orientations. However, it was then brought to their attention that they had been doing that since the Nurse was released, years ago. That's why, now, they won't restrict themselves to just straight relationships.

  • That ship sailed long ago with the Nurse, whose lore explicitly mentions a husband. The only difference now is that the devs won't restrict themselves by only mentioning straight relationships. Nothing will change about the gameplay, nothing will be shoved in your face (which is what a cosmetic would do, just FYI), you will notice no difference whatsoever because there will be no difference whatsoever. It's just lore. It only matters if you read it.

Sorry but did you just saw that Feng and Yui are basically the same character because they are both ASIAN?! Are you kidding me?! They are completely different characters. Adam and Tapp are also completely different. The fact that you think race "blanket terms" (not really sure what to call it) is more important, and defining, of a person/character than their actual story/experiences/personality says a lot about you. Race is important to people, yes, but it doesn't mean they can only identify with someone of their own race.

We have a character from Lebanon. But I won't tell anyone so you can continue acting like you have a point. 🤫

Your mass effect Andromeda comment did not bring forth the fact how the team behind the game was influenced by LGBT movement inside the studio which led to gigantic conflict within the staff that scared the development of the ME:A and eventually threw the entire production to a whole new direction that ended up taking focus more on the characters' sexuality than the overall gameplay and romance. Anyone who played the game can see that in every opportunity possible the game wanted to shove down your throat that a character was this and that sexually, something that was not present in any of the earlier titles. Of course Mass Effect is about romance and relationships between straights and gays, etc, but Mass Effect Andromeda clearly had an agenda to push and it shows strong. It was less about gameplay and more about "Look at this LGBT character, look how strong and independent he/she is! He doesn't need your approval!" Never before have I cringed during a video game than I did with when playing Andromeda, and Mass effect just so happens to be my most favorite game of all time. But let's jump out of Mass Effect and focus on DBD.

Again, I asked you to provide a valid argument on as to why we need sexuality or LGBT presented in DBD, to which you answered that we have a problem with the LGBT stuff now that it was brought up. No shieeeet sherlock? What? We are not allowed to raise our concern when something is brought up? We should just be quiet and accept it or else we come out as anti-LGBT? No, again, I am in favor of LGBT as long as they stay away from video games where sexuality is not one of the game's elements. If the devs want to push that stuff in the character background lore, I don't mind, but once they start to shove it down my throat via in-game characters, cosmetics and whatnot, then I have an issue with it <- It's a movement. If you want to raise awareness of LGBT, then do it elsewhere outside video games, or better yet, make your own video game where you can do that stuff as much as your heart desires. Heck, there already are people doing that, the difference between them and you is that they know how to use right channels to raise awareness. And don't try to say in your next reply that you are not trying to raise awareness, you already made that statement in your earlier comment so we know damn well what this is really about.

"I don't feel the need that DBD should have LGBT stuff in it" - Case closed then? Why are we having this conversation if you don't feel the need to have LGBT stuff in the game. If you continue this discussion in favor of having LGBT stuff in DBD, then clearly you do feel the need for it. Having read all of your earlier comments, I have the impression that you like to speak to people like starting fresh, like they had not read anything you wrote before that clearly contradicts your new statements. First you said you want to raise awareness with the LGBT, then you suddenly switched that and said you don't want to raise awareness. This whole time you have been speaking in favor of LGBT in DBD, now you suddenly say that you don't feel the need for that to be in the game. How about you make your mind and stick with it or else your little story falls like a house of cards.

People don't need to feel more welcome to video games by having LGBT characters in them. If they seek approval that way, then clearly they don't get video games in the first place. You paraphrased someone about how LGBT characters always require some kind of explanation as to why they should be added to a game where as straights have a green card with no issue. Well let me tell you something about why that is. It's because devs don't care about this stuff when they create characters for their video games. They don't make a character and think "Oh yeah, this guy's totally straight, let's go with that" - They just make a character, period. If you think that when a game has a straight character that is pretty much the base of all characters in video games and you automatically assume that the devs used braincells to come up with the character being straight, you are clearly in my eyes one of those people who like to wake up in the morning and look at a list that reads "How can I feel victimized today".

Stop thinking that this is a war against LGBT and start presenting valid arguments as to why you feel that DBD and its playerbase would benefit from having LGBT characters. Forget that straights even exist, just try to sell your idea rather than take a defence, and see if the devs like it well enough to implement it to the game.

I refuse to type out an argument because I disagree with the premise that LGBT people need a reason to be included beyond the whims of the developers whereas heterosexuals do not. Make a solid argument for that first, and then you'll get one from me.

    @Dustin said:

Personally while I don't mind the inclusion of LGBT why does it matter if they are included or not? This game is about four survivors escaping a killer controlled by an unknown entity in another realm. If BHVR is smart about it sure I'm fine with it but if all the story turns into focusing on how a character is a gay person like with what Bliz started doing with Overwatch characters then that's only going to annoy and push people away. People play games for fun not to take part in a political statement. Just don't turn the game into a message in Identity Politics and it's fine.

Just on the off chance that I'm accused of being homophobic also. I am a gay man and I do not see the point in forcing the information in someone else's face. For example now that you know this about me does it change your view of my post? Probably not but I'm not going to shove the fact in your face every time I make a post. That's my same view when a game dev or company announces they're going to be more supportive of certain things especially in games. Almost every time it feels like a "mandatory" thing when most of the time they don't actually care and just come off as obnoxious. Again I look to Blizzard when I say this. I just don't want to see BHVR take a misstep with this after making such an announcement because believe it or not they're one of my favorite companies that work on games.

It's going to be written in the lore and not shoved in anyone's face.

  • Yeah, I get the feeling we all knew Spongebob was gay. This is like that guy in high school who's always trying to prove how much of a man he is and constantly calling everyone else gay coming out after graduation.

We always knew, Steve. We always knew.

  • @PlaysByShady said:

I think you're missing the point I'm trying to make. Let's take Feng and Yui as examples. Do you not think that a person who identifies closely to one could also identify with the other? They're ethnically similar and not that far apart to the extent where other regions are completely non-existent.

You've got Tapp and Adam, again, same question? Is it too much to imagine that anyone who identifies with one couldn't identify with another?

And now consider this at the same time as asking, what possible survivor could someone from a Mid-Eastern background identify with? There's well over 20 characters, and not a single one that comes close here. And yes, I get that some come from licences so are fixed in their nature to a degree, but that doesn't mean that non-licenced characters need to duplicate them.

If we're talking about representation of players, I would argue that making a more ethnically diverse cast would cover a lot more representation and do much more in this regard, rather than forcing in some LGBT backstory which has absolutely zero effect on any aspect of the gameplay itself and appears to only exist as a token gesture.

Given the history between China and Japan, no, I don't believe one could identify with the other.

Where exactly do you think Lebanon is? It borders Syria and Israel, for crying out loud.

Ethnicity also has zero impact on gameplay and is more difficult to implement than a simple pronoun in a character's backstory saying they had a same-sex partner.

But I will tell you Texas Chainsaw Massacre was not only banned in numerous countries but most theaters refused to outright show it and the governor of Texas even went so far as to ban the director, producer, and most of the actors from entering the state for some time. And when people found out there were supposed to be Black actors in the film but they were later canned (as seen in deleted scenes on the betamax tapes that were floating around at the time) people REALLY lost their #########. I'm openly gay, I was thinking the same, until they said on Twitter to their homophobe players to leave the game.

We will have no answer to this question, but I can say that in the video game universe, it's rare to speak about LGBT community, so it's great, but we can't deny the profit they make, the new players who comes because of that, etc...

But I'm sure of one think, despite the profit, dbd seems real supportive to us, and not fake supportive for only profit.

    I would say... It's both!

The thing about asking if it's profit or real concern is that it's a false dichotomy. All companies care about profit, that's how capitalism works. That's not mutually exclusive with caring about certain causes.

If people had to work full-time without pay to support a cause, almost nobody would do it, just the ones that could afford to work without pay and cared about the cause. That doesn't mean that the people working full-time with pay just care about the money, it means that they need the money as well as support the cause.

Money and principle aren't mutually exclusive. My boyfriend and I hope to be full-time researchers in our fields because we like research, but we also expect to be paid for it because we still need money to live.
