@xenofon13 I fully felt that.
-
@Larikal you seem to have some deep seated issues about survivors lol. I'd just like to point out when you were listing all the bad things about survivors you kept saying "you" whereas I stated I am nothing like those survivors.
You said to be kinder to killers and they would be more fair to me. I always play fairly. I don't taunt, I do not message them after, etc. You seem to be treating survivors poorly and hate them based on assumptions that they're all that way. I am upset solely with killers who are currently playing in a mean manor for no reason at all. Seems kindness got me 3 hooked back to back. DS will now allow me to get away from a hook so even if i don't have borrow time on me I can at least have a few seconds and a chance to get somewhere away from a rude killer so I at least have a shot.
-
@notsonew well these killers didn't even leave the hook at all so it wasn't like somebody was being chased and ran them back to me. They would even wait for me to be unhooked and instantly down me again. Wouldn't go for grabs or anything. Like they made it a point to down me again asap and tunnel me out of the game. One game I had after the killer had hooked me twice immediately, he actually did leave, but as soon as I was unhooked he again went straight for me. People tried to body block but nope he just wanted me.
-
And no, they didn't see scratch marks leading back to my hook because the killers never left.
-
@Mister_Holdout in most red rank games I play the killer doesn't even come back to the hook. If they do, it is to go after the person unhooking. But last night most of my high ranks killers sought me out. People would try to take hits because they noticed the killer wanted to 3 hook me as fast as they could. I could understand that if gens were going quickly, but they were not. Idk what was going on with the killers last night but they all seemed to be very hateful lol. And that is the gameplay that breeds the dreaded meta build survivors.
-
@JustCats I do believe a change needs to happen, and some things you suggested may be good for like a base game, but once you add perks into all that it seems like some things might become heavily overpowered.
-
@Blueberry you can choose not to believe me, I don't really care lol. But I know how my matches went last night and it shocked me too. I normally don't get tunneled and camped like I received yesterday but alas. All last night I had red ranks doing just that for no reason. I wish i were lying for attention but nope. This really did happen.
-
@thrawn3054 I definitely reached that point.

Am I the only one who feels more relaxed as killer? I prefer playing killer because I don't rely on matchmaking to give me a decent team.
Are you higher rank or lower rank? I'm probably green rank killer rn cause it stresses me out a lot so I don't play as often as I used to. I'd always get red rank swfs.

Tunneling is pretty much the norm and even more so when there is no obsession. The thing is, it just is highly rewarding for the killer with absolutely no downside except for DS, which can be prevented with slugging in most cases. At least one obsession perk is needed to prevent hardcore tunneling.
Camping at least I don’t see that often in higher ranks, but of course in the end game it’s a common (and valid) strategy. So BT can get handy in almost every match.
I ran a dude from gen 5 to gen 3 and then I got proxy camped and farmed/ hard tunneled to my death hook. I was with a friend and he did the same to her so apparently that's how he plays. So if killers want to play dirty then I guess I will too.

@NoShinyPony said:
Playing fair means that somebody follows the devs' rules. Playing fair is not the same as playing "soft" and intentionally giving the opponent an advantage - that would be playing generously.
Killers and survivors are allowed to play how they want, as long as they follow the rules and don't exploit/hack etc. Everybody is allowed to use whatever perk/add-on/tactic they want, so of course, if you need DS/Unbreakable/exhaustion perks, then run them.
This is a PvP game. The normal thing is to expect that people play to win. Nobody is the opponent's fun provider.
Btw, it has been months since the last time I played killer. Too stressful. 🤷
I'm just saying, killers complain all the time about the meta build but then when people don't use it they punish them for it lol. So if you wanna win by camping and tunneling all the time then I guess I'll run meta build. That play style they choose is what breeds survivors who run this. So they are causing the problem they hate so much.

I’m a rank 1 survivor that managed to get there by hardly ever running DS or BT. In fact they’re probably my least used perks.
I got to rank 1 the same way. My complaint is not that I need them to be good, but my chance to even stay in the game against these guys. When I get immediately tunneled off hook there isn't much I can do for a chase if I didn't have BT on me and somebody threw the pallet next to me before unhooking me in the killer's face. I had never once used DS until this point. But if a killer is going out of their way to screw me that bad, then I guess I'll punish them as well.
-
I went on a smurf to try to learn huntress and even as a rank 20 you'll still pull reds. Might as well try. Not every match will be that way. But just don't be upset if you don't get constant 4ks or not even a 1k. Take it as a good chance to learn. I went back on my main to play huntress and I get all colored ranks still. But it is still fun to learn.
If you ever want to win and pip, what better way than to train by learning from the tactics of your enemies?

@Haroharo05 said:
I very rarely run into camping/tunneling killers at red ranks, though it does happen now and then and BT usually does its job enough to let me go back to looping anyway.
You're very likely to run into people who do that at lower ranks as a survivor because of inexperienced killers. And yes, while killers who play like that are the reason perks like DS/BT are meta, the reality is the speed at which gens can go generally forces a killers hand to do so if they have any interest in doing well at times. So, it isn't just a product of scumbag killers, although more often it is because of bad killers. You'll generally find REALLY good survivors won't run any super meta perks outside of maybe BT, because they're very confident in their ability to loop.
Normally I don't run meta perks, but if I do it's only ever one at a time, maybe two depending on how my games are going. Either unbreakable, iron will, or BT.. I never run decisive because I feel it is a bit unfair at times and I know as a killer it annoys me. The killer who started my horrible night of dbd was a laggy freddy so like what can I even do against a latency freddy lunge. But I get punished for running non meta builds. And now I don't care about how fairly I play. (:

What is your rank? I mean quite a few killers can play scummy but so can survivors and with matchmaking how it is you could be put against potato tunnelers. I find the fun police come out late night so best to try different times if you can.
I am red ranks and the killers were mostly red rank as well, but a few purples. Most lower rank killers I had tonight (rank 7s to rank 20s) all played pretty fairly. But every single one of the red rank killers I had tonight (which was most of my killers surprisingly) all played like absolute scum lords. I work late so I play even later. Normally my punishment for playing late is long queues and rank 20s. But here lately I've been getting people who play like this.

Scott isn't a developer and he himself said to take his opinion as just that - an opinion.
I know he isn't a developer, but I feel he would get a lot of ahit from people if he knew who it was and just announced it two weeks ago. So of course he's going to keep people guessing. Plus he's an absolute memer.
-
@BattleCast said:
Didn't Scott Jund already confirm the new killer isn't Candyman?
But you've gotta think, if he's not allowed to say then he can't just say "oh, you guys guessed it, it is him" lol. Of course if anybody has guessed it correctly, they're going to say no until they're ready to release the name.
-
Just suck it up and let it go. I know it's frustrating, but remain unbothered by it. People are always going to do it, just as survivors will always tbag or point at killers. It's the way the world is. It's not truly doing any harm, just let it go.
-
I bought the first rift because I was like cool we will earn them back and then a little extra. But I didnt realize how grindy it was. I played a lot even but I work a full time job so I didn't have time to no life the rift. I lost money on that, the cosmetics weren't worth, and I don't care about charms. Never buying a pass again lol. So I guess I'll just use it for BP since even the free pass offers jack #########.
-
I run spine chill almost always (cause I hate ghostfaces), but spine chill helps me almost exactly zero of the time when I'm in a chase with spirit. She doesn't have a 50/50 MiNd gAmE. It's literally just guesses. And if she has stridor then it's about another zero percent chance you will win that guess, being as she has taken out her end of the guess work. In the chase though you have to determine if she even is phasing or not. I feel really "outplayed" when I had not one indicator of ######### she's doing lol.
Side note, using point 4 with the Nurse is probably not good, seeing as she is the number 1 strongest killer in the game lmao.
-
@TragicSolitude said:
I constantly have this problem. I see a rank 20 killer with no perks go up against fully decked-out purple and red rank survivors who end up earning fewer BP than they spent on the offerings and add-ons they used for that 5-minute match.
My friend was doing the survivor Tome challenge to stun a killer twice with a pallet... two matches in a row he got a killer who stopped playing after getting hit with a pallet. He even offered himself up to be hooked and they'd just walk away. I'm not sure if those killers were super new or just having a bad day, but it's not a good sign when you start seeing players just give up in the middle of a match.
New or inexperienced killers aren't offered any chance to even learn what they're doing and good strategies. They just get dicked on and experience toxicity first thing. Why would that ever make people want to continue playing killer.
DBD isn't a place for new killers. Only for experienced veteran killer mains.

Randoms are like half brain dead I swear.

Message them with advice honestly. Give them words of encouragement. Really we live in a DBD MM crap storm. All we as more experienced players can do is attempt to provide or knowledge onto the ones who actually need it like that poor Wraith. Provide him with a few useful YT videos and stuff.
I know it's hard sometimes, but maybe it's time we all stop being toxic to one another and help the newer members of our community through the events and poor MM we have today. If this continues it will eventually be the death sentence to DBD. No one wants to play a game that no matter what they get bullied by people who have 1k plus hours when they dont even have 1 hours.
We realized he was a baby so we tried to go extra easy. But we had one random on our team who just kept doing gens so the killer quit cause he didn't even understand cloaking and the match was coming to an end already. I tried to message him after but he never responded.

Not much better on survivor end sometimes. Just had two rank 18's in my group against a Trapper with NoED who camped his first couple kills. Yep, that was fun. Not.
Yeah getting low ranks is also hard during solo survivor. I had a game where the killer chased and tunneled me all game and my low ranks team was too scared to do anything so I died because they didn't know what to do. 🙃
-
@thesuicidefox this happens so frequently. And this poor guy had to take a DC ban. It was a wraith who didn't even understand the cloaking and uncloaking. I feel so bad but like what can I even do. ☹

@Dead_by_Gadfly said:
On the otherhand, as a r1 killer its nice not facing hit squads every other match. Facing the occasional purple or rainbow squad is kind of relaxing not gonna lie
Well it seems all the red rank squads are being sent to low rank killers lol. Simply speaking from the low rank killer and occasional red rank swf standpoint.
-
@Liruliniel I was rank 13 before this match. I switched to trapper because I have more experience with him. I knew it was a swf because two of them had nearly identical names. Was not a fun match. 🙃 I couldn't imagine how awful this would have gone if I stayed as basically a rank 20 huntress against them lol. I hate playing as killer anymore tbh. Impossible to learn and experiment with them.

@BigBrainMegMain said:
Because no one is playing killer.
I'm Rank 1 on PS4 and I'm getting Rank 15 and 17's killers.
A lot o people probably aren't playing killer because when they try to learn they get thrown into red rank lobbies. Thats not a fun experience to go at again. So its kind of a what came first question. No killers = bad matchmaking or bad matchmaking = no killers.
-
Maybe the killer is slenderman and there's not really one set person so that's why it's a mystery?
-
It's not just this locker or this map. This happens a lot. Who knows why.
-
I can on xbox by checking my recent players list, as long as they don't appear offline. Does PS4 not have a similar list?
(Not trying to create a console war, just asking a real question)
-
They thought they fixed it with the balanced landing nerf, but that wasn't the whole issue with that map.
The most annoying parts are the windows and the fences. I can't even count how many times I've had someone wiggle off because we were near the edge of the map, less than 10 feet from a hook, but I had to walk 3 miles around a fence to get there. 🤦♀️
-
I don't fully agree with your whole post and reasonings, but I do also hate deathslinger. We agree on that much. People are saying he's weak, which he may be in terms of map and gen pressure, but most killers have that issue. That's a map thing though, not a deathslinger thing, but oh well. He really doesn't have a real counter. He's just annoying and wholly unfun to go against. I've not played as him because I don't wanna put people through that torture. I hate him.

I don't think anything irritates me more than teammates throwing you under the Oni (bus.) Had a Kate tell a Demo where I was hiding last night, so I was hooked, but it felt so good when he killed her right after me.
Anyway, don't they also accept video reports here and on Discord? I've heard of people having success just messaging devs. Just hear say.
I've not heard of anything about reporting through any of those channels. I've heard streamers say they will send clips to the devs themselves of hackers and stuff, but I don't think the devs would like everybody sending them messages or flooding discord with reports.
So those may work, but not as a consistent reporting method for the whole community.

Legion is solid as is. They have the capability to get four people injured from the start of the match easily.

I've been reading forum threads for a while but I haven't written anything yet.
Considering team who is responsible for sorting through reports is proportionally too small to take actions relatively quickly maybe volunteers could get some sort of looking into reports?
I mean League of Legends had its "Tribunal" which was imo great idea, but probably turned bad because they were offering a reward for those volunteers so plenty of those weren't even looking into the reports but skip through just to get some in-game points or so.
If you did the same, but tried to improve their system a bit (like dunno, timer before going to check next case to prevent brainless skipping, or as I mentioned earlier no in-game rewards or small enough that it wouldn't be worth for people to go farming for) maybe it could ease work of your team.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk, I'd like to thank my parents for believing in me and so.
I'd hate to see a volunteer review system with how negative and memeful the DBD community is lol. Unless they picked the people who would do reviews so they were trustworthy. Not just an open page for anyone to partake in.
Also, your ending was solid lol.
-
Yeah they seem more money motivated these days rather than caring about the overall happiness of their players. I tried to word that better but I don't really know how.

@Mandy said:
@OperationMintyHippo you need to submit evidence to Support, usually that's going to be in the form of video evidence - to show exactly what you are reporting, someone exploiting/hacking etc. https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426 - that's the support address.
Right now, we don't have a way to be able to "save" matches, which is why we require the video evidence - we take the in game report to show that the match actually took place and was a live match (not a kyf match or anything). And for chat offences, an in game report is sufficient because we have the chat logs then and your report flags that log for the ACM's to review.
I went to your link. I'm not sure what my Player Cloud ID is on Xbox? And it says to give the name of the player. Do I have to fill one out 3 times for each survivor? Seems almost not worth it at that point.. I would have better luck to just remember their names and dodge them any time I see them I guess.
Thanks, though.

If only there was a perk that could let you heal at any time and be able to tank a hit and get free burst of speed.
Or a perk that give you a free head start in a chase to help you reach a safer area.
Or, you know, actually planning routes instead of blindly holding W and crying at the devs when that doesnt work.
:)
Yeah, everybody should just run the same perks. We will call it a "meta build" and the killers shall all rejoice! Or wait... I think they're complaining because a survivor sprint bursted out of the dead zone. Oh no, hold on, they sprinted into *another* dead zone because those are just back to back to back now. Hell yeah, killers rejoice again in the simplicity of a... fun game?

@Thatbrownmonster said:
You want to report them for what exactly?
oni is camping, survivors are trying to bait a hit to unhook you, he isn't allowing it
you want to report them for trying?
In the beginning of the match, before the video even began, they had been farming (which you can tell from the beginning of this video even), and all 3 of them had lead him to me to be hooked. After that I didn't want to farm and just wanted to do the gens and leave since I cannot DC nor could I kill myself on my first hook since they had instantly farmed me. I believe I had already mentioned that in my original post text. They were farming then BMing, not baiting a hook save.
Thanks for your input though!

I agree that the process is confusing and could be streamlined. I would however prefer that Huntress’s deviousness points, Hillbilly’s adjustments, and Wraith’s bing bong gets fixed first.
Bringing attention to one bad thing is not equivalent to me saying other things don't need looked at as well. These issues are in entirely different areas, of which I'm sure they both have their own separate teams.
-
@Mandy said:
The reason that we ask for an ingame report is to actually prove that the match took place first of all, the support ticket is required for actual proof that something occurred which is why we ask for video evidence as much as possible. And this goes for all platforms, reports from all platforms are considered but without proof of something happening - we cannot take action.
Since reporting and showing proof are in two different areas, where might one submit evidence? And if they're separate, does this mean reporting in game doesn't really do anything since nothing can be done without evidence but you can't attach evidence to the report? Because if there is video evidence then the match took place.
-
I'm on Xbox and the only option you can do is just report them. There's no box for comments or anything. You just hit the thumbs down and select a category then that's it. That's mostly why I feel nothing happens from bans, at least across consoles.
-
20200502_023321.jpg
I had this match the other day and I feel so bad when this happens man. I wish they would fix it. :(
-
I personally don't ever use it, but I like when there is an obsession. As soon as a killer sees there's no obsession it seems like they get super excited they can actually tunnel without any repercussions so they go straight for it lol. DS is a necessary evil because without it killers go fully toxic.
-
I've also been having trouble with survivors teleporting when I down them.
And when I'm survivor I've been smacked on opposite ends of a loop lol. Like literally watched them hit whomever they saw and suddenly I'm injured.
