Totem spots are difficult to balance, especially because people do learn the spots. Look at maps like Badham Preschool - there's a lot of potential spots, but you can still find them. It does take longer on that map. That's really the only way to make sure they're all not bugged (unable to be cleansed, for example).

On the other hand, if you add so many spawning restrictions, it becomes easier and easier to find them as well. For example, if they never spawn in LOS of or near a generator, survivors know to never look there. It's a really tricky balance to find, and it's the reason totems are high risk, high reward.

Except for the ones that are high risk, low reward. Mostly low reward because they notify survivors before they're ever really useful (i.e. lullaby, ruin, etc)

  • I feel the same way. Just seems like a waste of time and not really a solution. Absolutely ruins shack as well. Shack is playable as it is. But just make OP windows breakable instead..

  • I absolutely love playing as Plague, but on console she is too framey for me to use the puke. Same with doc, his static makes my frames horrible. It makes me sad. :(

Look man, I respect the decision to leave this game, but seeing these kind of threads every day gets really tiresome. Yeah, I get it, you arent enjoying the game, its bug ridden and the devs dont matter etc etc. If you wanna leave, just leave.

Oh I plan to. Thanks for the permission dad.

I was honestly surprised at the majority of comments. I was expecting to be lambasted, but the vast majority felt the same way or have already quit but still love the game and wish for it to improve.

Of course there are the few "bye" comments and other criticisms, but the long stories about being frustrated and moving to a new game from several people along with new game suggestions are mostly the ones that are worth reading. We're all real people with real passion for the game and we don't want to leave the game, but feel driven out by the choices that are being made.

In the end we all want the same thing... for the game to improve for everyone. For some/many, the better choice is to devote time and energy into a game that is worth it by a team that shows their appreciation to their playerbase through their actions.

Unfortunately you'll always get the trolls that just say "bye" because they are too blind to realize why we react to dbd this way now. We make a post or a video about it to express a love for this game but also a frustration because the people in charge of it don't seem to love it at all.

Or respect their community. We have told them for years about map issues and certain things that need improved or fixed. What do we get? Breakable walls. That's laughable. Instead of using the time to just fix busted window loops, they want to waste time adding breakable walls..

It's a shame to see dbd go down to this. I wish the devs cared more.

    i enjoy it.

i play killer daily and im not at all planning to stop.

    ill be fair here:

    1) yes, having games where they do nothing but genrush is plain out boring and sometimes you literally dont stand a chance, depending on killer, map and survivors, which of course is frustrating. and if you have enough of these games in a row, i can fully understand that you dont wanna continue playing - and you shouldnt! cause if you do, you will make more suboptimal decisions, which leads to you losing more, which leads to you getting more and more frustrated.

    2) having cheap second chance perks deny all the work you put into something feels very cheap and, again, leads to frustration. i cant tell you how many times i had the survivor outplayed around a relatively safe loop and they just pressed E and got to loop it two more times before dropping the pallet - the amount of work you put into this mindgame getting completely denied by someone pressing E (which, lets be honest, takes near to no skill) is really, really annoying. (and the main problem i have with that perk xD)

    3) these frustrating games are not nearly as common as many people here on the forums say they were. as ive said, i play killer daily and the vast majority of my matches go well. now, this is just my personal experience of course, but i believe that the game is not nearly as unbalanced as many love to claim. yes there are problems, i wont deny that. genrush is certainly one of them, but if you were to just read through these forums you'd think that killers would be bound to a chair in the basement while the survivors do nothing but taunting them and then calling them "basement camper" in the end.

    to sum this up:

at least from my experience, killer is not nearly as bad as it is often claimed to be.

you can play killer no problem, even though its clearly the harder role. you will need to get good with them though - and i mean quite good. if you are a medicore killer, you wont have that many pleasant games, especially with survivors who are experienced in their role.

in the end it all omes down to personal preference - play whatever makes more fun in your opinion! for me that would definitely be killer.

Killer role brings stress, survivor role brings boredom. So I'm not playing at all. Glad to see someone still enjoys this game.

    I disagree

I plan on having fun. Winning or losing (however you would even categorize that in a game like this for the killer) is secondary. It's why I won't tunnel or camp or do all the ish that is tactically smart but boring gameplay. I'm in it to have fun. If I get to kill 4 meddling kids in the process, super. If not, so be it.

I've played this game for two years and seen it go through a lot of things but I've not seen it this bad before. Maybe you're lucky and won't reach a breaking point for this game as I have. Taken my rose colored glasses off and I'm seeing the flames.

    So agree to disagree.

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

    I'm surprised as well.

But maybe the data the devs have suggests otherwise and all of us who have a problem with the way the game is handled are wrong.

Either way, it's a business and there's no way they'll admit to any mishandlings of any kind.

What's important is how YOU feel about playing the game. I you don't enjoy it you should move on.

I'll be transitioning to a new game as well since I have no confidence in the devs to fix longstanding issues in addition to new ones like how breakable walls are being implemented and judging my the majority of comments on a video I made, we're not alone in feeling this way.

    https://youtu.be/zefiICD_2d4

I watched your video. I do agree with you. I believe the past few DLCs have been very stale, new perks are just poor reskins of others, etc. Devs seem to be more concerned about taking in temporary money while watching their game die. It all seems to be about the short term for them and not about making this game last. I love this game and want to see it get better, but the devs have proven time and time again that they don't care now ever plan to improve anything except their wallets. I unfortunately have basically quit at this point. I try to *make* myself play this game but then I just get upset with it and leave if I boot it up, or I talk myself out of it because why should I have to force myself to enjoy a game? I play games for fun and to destress. This does not do that for me anymore. I miss dbd but it isn't the dbd I use to love at this point.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

Because I find it super fun. I've had bad games where everyone escapes and I've had good games where everyone is slaughtered by my blade. Besides the odd game of super toxic clown survivors, I have a lot of fun either way.

Playing killer can be very fun. But to enjoy it, I have to start each match with the mindset of "you're most likely going to lose" which is never a fun way to play a game.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

A lot of the people who play the game as their full time job don't even enjoy the game anymore and only do it for the money.

I've seen that a lot too. Many of them have already left. Many are working themselves into leaving. Many of the content creators I see take a break and come back always start out with "sorry it's been so long, I've needed a break.." then they take a break again until they eventually leave.

  • I don't think they can really fix this for console. I also have frame issues with plague and doctor as well.

Or the podiums on Family Residence, or the side of hills - there’s a section where you can run down in a chase, get no stun penalty but no balanced landing proc

The podiums and the bus kinda suck not being able to use BL. I feel like they should especially on family residence where there's hardly anywhere to trigger it anyway.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It annoys me when I'm just trying to waddle down the stairs and then I "fall" like 2 inches, and my balanced landing procs.

Also annoying when I try to fall down a considerable height and my balanced landing doesn't proc.

I've had those issues a lot as well. I've stopped running balanced landing.

  • Killer queues only changed because everyone is trying to play the new killer. It will go back to survivor lobbies as 10 minutes and instant killer lobbies soon enough.

  • Also none of the perks really seem worth it to me? For either side. Also having dbd turn into an FPS is a joke. If I wanted to play an FPS then I'd go play the many games I have that do just that. Seems like they're trying to compete with those game types because people are straying away from them for new games like tarkov. DBD is a one of a kind game with really no competitors. People are leaving because the game is broken and not being fixed. Pls DLCs just keep getting weaker and weaker.. perks are just reskins of old ones.. Boring.

  • @Haku said:

Haddonfield is very liked from the survivor side and is perfectly fine after BL is gone. Pigg is also just fine - people are just terrible with her. When you say terrible map I think of Hawkins as many others. Trully horrible map. Shelter woods is another one. Azarovs too

Haddonfield is still terrible lol. The windows are busted on that map. Also I hate it as a survivor.

  • @FichteHiro considering how long many of these issues have been in the game, compared to the massive amount of legitimate game-breaking bugs that currently exist in dbd that also aren't being fixed, I doubt these will ever even be considered as something to be looked at by the devs.

  • Well I mean they are rank 4 and you're rank 14 so clearly they deserved to beat you because that's what rank means.

  • @FichteHiro also the same with a lot of vehicles and similar items. Most specifically the infamous red car in front of the house on badham.

  • I've had this happen so many times before. Instead of taking a hit on our way out the door, they want to take hits while I'm wiggling in the killer's arms on the way to the hook, then they're injured and can't save me so they leave and I die unnecessarily.

Survivor is a brain dead job.

  • Maybe it's just an xbox thing but most people I've met through random dbd lobbies are males. But when I join a party with my male friends they always have like a million other female friends that they invite. So I never come across them but they exist.

What you probably need to do is back up, actually. If you're too close, too much of his model is outside of the detection zone. And honestly, if you see him in a place that isn't open, just start running. You'll get a much better chance of not being exposed if you try to reveal him during a chase. Either that, or he loses distance each time he tries to stalk you, unless you were already pocketed before that. In which case... Well, you got outplayed.

I hardly call it an outplay when I do your suggested "just run away" and he 99s me and then moves on. Like I know I'm 99 so he has to do literally nothing the next time he sees me. He can "stealth" in my face and expose me before I can reveal him lol. What a skilled outplay. I can surely combat that one. If he doesn't get me to busted mechanics now, he will get it soon enough.

Again, the mechanics still need fixed for both sides.

  • I kms on hook when I go against them as well lol. Only if the game says I don't see him while I'm literally staring him face to face. Like do I need to lick his booty hole before the game knows I see him or???

I must also add that sometime it reveal them when I literally don't even know where they are.

Regardless, he needs a major fix on both sides.

EVERY time (literally 100% chance not even exaggerating) every single time, 100% guaranteed I've said it like 4 times already in this sentence and I'll say it again it always happens guaranteed: Every time I play Plague I get Grim Pantry. I hate that map so much I'd rather play on Haddonfield that's just how bad it is. On the bright side I have every inch of that map memorized to the point that I can picture it vividly in my mind at all times, every spawn, every orientation, I could replace the map generator for that map with my brain and nobody'd notice the difference

I swear this happen to me too lol. And there's always a billion trees that spawn so I can never hit anybody with the puke. I'm on xbox as well so playing her makes me very framey. (Doc as well)

  • As survivor: Hawkins

    As killer: ironworks of misery

In general? Temple of purgation. Literally is so unnecessarily big. I hate it so much.

We can sprinkle haddonfield in there too.

Why would someone run the perk just for the chance that a survivor is running sabo...and that doesn’t even counter it...that doesn’t make any sense. That is a very, very niche perk that isn’t even that good in the moment it’s niche situation arrives.

A lot of perks on both sides in dbd require very specific cases to ever be useful. That's what creates meta builds: perks that are good in nearly every game you play. There's too many *specific* perks that no one would ever run because why run that when you could run something you know will be of value? If people don't run meta perks then they call it memeing.

  • For about the past 2 months I've been taking two weeks off at a time. Then I'm like "why haven't I played this in awhile? I loved this game 🤔" then I play a match or two and realize why I stopped. I can really only play for maybe 2 hours before I just get fed up with what's happened to this game over the past 2 years I've been playing and I give up.. this game just depresses me.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

My only issue is the queue times. I average 3 survivor games over a 90 minute period.

I do as well, are you on console too?

I'm wondering if matchmaking was totally turned off with this update? I did get a survivor match fairly quick but I'm thinking that's because everyone is wanting to test out the new killer. That's usually how it goes after a dlc launch. Killer lobbies are slow, survivor lobbies are quick. Will go away after a day or two max.

  • I would have to say the archives. This game has felt like more of a chore than a joy to play. Or like a failure of a project than something to do in my off time. I just hate being on a time limit lol. The challenges and way to earn extra BP is nice, but it has definitely added stress.

  • @MPUK said:

I have played on PC, PS4 and Xbox. The dedicated server issue is far far worse on xbox than any other platform I have played in. It is on the verge of being unplayable right now. I mostly connect to a room that has a yellow ping, sometimes even red. I could probably count on one hand how many times a green ping has been encountered since the servers were switched on for Xbox. I have never had any of these issues on PC.

I've only played on PC and Xbox. PC is manageable but annoying, and xbox is just plain unplayable. But I can't just always play on PC since it isn't mine. All my stuff is on xbox and I dont wanna have to start over on PC anyway. I only do that at a friend's house to be able to play it with them. So I'm kinda stuck.

If I dont run far away from a vault after taking it then I can still get hit. Four lanes are terrible because they're narrow and I get hit through that window every single time. All the others I at least have a chance to maybe control anything about it, but that one doesn't matter what I do.

I've had issues with skill checks as well. I had the timing down perfectly to hit mostly greats or adjust to them before, but now they're never consistent.

  • @DetailedDetriment said:

Dedicated servers aren't good enough PC

I didn't think so either. So why they released it to consoles which are already worse to begin with is beyond me.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1107205#Comment_1107205

So your problems are probably ping-related.

The big question we don't know an answer to is: Why isn't the ping good, even when you are living relatively close to the server?

I dont know but I'm not playing until they work on servers more lol. Console was already rough enough.

  • I haven't enjoyed any DLCs since Plague lol. Ghostface is busted, demo is so weak, oni is boring, and now, meh. Not even horror.

  • @NoShinyPony no my ping is always over 100, but below 200. It's consistent but consistently bad. Before dedicated I would get best as 60, worst matches I played were 150 (I'd dodge higher lobbies). I literally can't get below 100 now.

  • @NoShinyPony I'm literally right next to Ohio so idk why dedicated servers have effected me this bad. Some matches had annoying lag before this change but I can't even play this anymore lol.

  • I wish instead of wasting time on reworking maps to add breakable walls that they would just spend the time reworking bad windows or ######### pallet spawns and all that stuff.

  • @NoShinyPony how do I found out where my server I'm connecting to is? Because there's no way it's close lol.

  • He's probably mad his trolling didn't make you guys DC for a penalty like he was most likely trying to do. And then the fact he didnt get an easy 4k.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

Aka "Please only write stories about things I agree with"

It's not even that though. A lot of people use videogames to escape the real world politics that we all see and deal with every day. Don't bring them all together again.

  • I just walk back and forth between gens and kick them. Maybe smack someone here and there. Just to get points from a bad match.

  • I heavily feel this lol. I wanna run setting and dark addons, but I also wanna have more than one trap, otherwise I have to walk to the edge of a map or dead area out of my way to get another trap. But that trip is worth 2 gens so..

  • @Seltas0208 oh I spent nearly the first 3 gens trying to make it bearable lol. Restarting my game afterward fixed it, but damn I'd like to not have to deal with this often.

Who knows, maybe this was intentional as the dev's way to make the sound bugs for killer balanced. Just nerf/super buff sounds survivors hear EZ.

  • @luka2211 it did let me know what literally everybody was doing throughout the whole match, but my god was it loud and disorienting. 😅

  • @Deathstroke667 said:

I think NOED was unfair before ruin was nerfed and the ruin/noed combo was cancer af but now i don't mind killers using NOED.

I didn't think it was unbalanced or OP ever since they turned it into a hex perk, before then it was absolutely broken. Ruin always went down instantly anyway.

  • @Steve0333 said:

Actually vast majority of post is killers whining about any possible noed nerf and survivors are just responding to it.

Most titles I saw were "nerf noed" or "noed is op"

  • @Heartbound said:

If you think nerfing noed and ruin is bad wait until they come for territorial imperative.

    Dun dun dunnnnn

If they touch that blessed perk I'm uninstalling >:[

  • Because people stopped running ruin so now they run noed instead lmao. Still not an EZ game for plebs.

  • @Frankie if so, it is still frustrating to get on here and see every post complaining about noed and how it's OP, uncounterable, etc. In one post I saw someone complaining about it and mentioned they have *almost* 200 hours. That's not enough to learn the maps and stuff. Just because someone isn't good at something y e t doesn't mean it needs to be lowered to their level so they don't have to put any time and effort into it.

  • I enjoy playing both sides, but not as of late. A shame, really.
