Yes I would, I think M1 chases are the most balanced, fun and fair chases in the game, and I say this as a killer main. The game would become a bit boring after a few weeks though.
Because you can sit at corners and remove the coinflips out of the equation, plus with the lack of Killer powers, you have complete control over the chase and the person at the other end has to hope you make a mistake.
You're just proving the topic creator right, you know.

Well being on console compared to PC changes things lol, its harder to aim and control the recoil, so makes sense why you believe he is trash. On PC he is much better. Also you can pre fire, i do it every match
As I thought, the focus on that specific bit AND dismissal.
I wasn't using my experiences BTW, I was only saying that I don't play Trickster because of console. I was talking generally this whole time.

Stacking Slowdown-Perks is basically the laziest and most boring way to play Killer. So stacking 4 Gen Defense Perks is not "anything interesting with perks".
Is holding M1 and/or sitting on a gen with another Survivor really that hard? Also, I guess people who run Ruin and Pop are boring.
BTW, TC actually put SURGE on the same level as Pop... they don't even synergize well at all too. Someone else here actually said this already as well.

You must be either a TERRIBLE Trickster, or you are facing TERRIBLE ones, as there is no way I would ever allow a survivor to loop me that long as any killer, its all about the timing and pre firing around corners. Again, still haven't made a DECENT argument. Move Speed comparison - NO ADDONS
Huntress - 3.08 m/s while bringing up a hatchet and holding it.
Trickster - 3.86 m/s while in throw state and throwing. Down to 3.68 m/s after reaching 30 blades.
Throw Speed comparison - NO ADDONS
Huntress max throw speed - 40 m/s (FULLY CHARGED)
Trickster max throw speed (No "charge" as such needed) - 55 m/s
Time to enter "Throwing States" - NO ADDONS
Huntress - 1.25 seconds (No charge AT ALL, meaning a slow moving and quick to drop projectile)
Trickster - Time to enter Throw State - 0.35 seconds - Showstopper Charge time - 0.35 seconds (0.70 seconds total) Over 0.5 seconds faster than Huntress (0.55 to be exact) He also can remain in this state and throw AS MANY as he wants without any negative side effects like huntress.
If you also count in the fact that Huntress has a 2 second cooldown after throwing a Hatchet, which would add up to a total of 3.25 seconds total after a "possible" successful hit. This is something Trickster doesn't need to worry about, as he can keep throwing blades to his hearts content with no penalty.
Trickster also has his INSANE throw rate multiplier which increases dramatically, the more blades he throws, increasing his overall lethality.
Yeah, you threw the numbers out in another topic. It's actually irrelevant here, since the fact that he slows down at all is enough at shack to make it so easy to run.
And yeah, of course I'm terrible lmao, console Trickster is even worse than PC. I barely touch him. 8 knives is awful with mandatory recoil and occasional frame issues.
"Pre-firing" is not possible because he can't close enough distance to hit the Survivor when they're around the corner, even with good aim. If the Survivor is using vaults and being remotely smart, they'll loop him for 40+ seconds easily.
Also, Trickster does have to wind-up his knives like Huntress does. Not as much, but it's enough.
... And that's all I need to say. Any other number doesn't matter because he's too slow to keep up with the Survivor. Even if you get enough speed, you only get around 2 knives. 2 knives at every corner, with the Survivor using vaults to make it take longer? Still 30+ seconds.

What is it with this killer shack argument? You are saying that just because they can get looped SLIGHTLY easier if the person is playing bad, they all of a sudden CANNOT be compared to each other lol. That is like saying oh my god you cant compare spirit to nurse as Spirit still has collision in her power while Nurse doesn't... I fail to see your point...
"Slightly"? You can run a Trickster for 30 seconds by just running around it repeatedly. There is no skill required, any Survivor can do it, and shack is reusable even with pallet gone, because it's a structure, a resource that can't be truly depleted, which makes it safe to come back to several times in the match.
Killers like Slinger don't need to windup and don't need to land more knives so they can shoot their chain faster when a Survivor is turning the corner... and Killers like Huntress have projectiles the Survivor must respect. One hit = a health state, they can counter shack more effectively as a result.

We see many of the same survivor perks because of the vicious cycle of killers stacking perks. If these gen perks were made any stronger on their own, it would only reinforce many survivor mains perception that they NEED their second chance perks because of how unavoidably long matches would/could become.
I can’t believe your refusal to accept how potentially game breaking certain stacking could be with perks even WITH their existing cool down.
... Are you serious? "We see many of the same Survivor perks because of the vicious cycle of killers stacking perks"? Did you miss the part where these perks aren't broken when stacked? One of these doesn't even chain well with stuff like Pop.
Dead Hard and BT aren't ran because of gen perks, last I checked, they're ran because their effects are good and no other perk can compete.
Have you ever considered that you are just fearmongering and that YOU are ignoring what I have said so far about these perks not being broken? These aren't "game breaking", you're just scared of anything strong happening.
And I am sorry if my tone is mad here, but this popular mindset makes me very angry because it's some of why the gameplay is stale.

Outliers happen. Regardless of how remote.
Just look at the mistake they made with the Freddy Rework, and Swing Chains, Jump Rope, and Outdoor Rope. These on their own only provided incredibly small amounts of reduction to gen repair speeds. But stacking 2 together with Thana, Dying Light, and Pop became a real big problem.
Small numbers that can be paired with other seeming small numbers in this game matters.
Yes, outliers happen. I absolutely don't care though, just make things or develop tactics to counter it. And yes, you can counter it. Like I said, this is not broken.
And yes, they do matter. So what? Freddy's add-ons are gone, and you only have one example. With a Killer who has a teleport, and other abilities to make perks like Pop synergize well.
-
@TheClownIsKing said:

My point is that the devs need to consider outliers.
To justify sweeping changes.
This is exactly why we have so many useless perks on both Survivor and Killer btw, and why Demogorgon's perks were unfairly nerfed when leaving PTB. It's the same ultimately unhealthy mindset that leads to seeing the same 4 Survivor perks per game.
(BTW, the devs do consider niche circumstances, they did so with Demogorgon iirc.)

Any killer that has any form of range in the game is immediately taken out of low tier, as it's up to the killers skill to be able to aim and use their power effectively, rather than the survivors messing up. A good Trickster, Huntress or Deathslinger is essentially un -counter able, as they stop the idea of looping entirely.
Survivors don't have to mess up if they can get to a T or L wall, or jungle gym.
I also can't even imagine putting Trickster on the same level as those two. One of these three gets destroyed by Killer shack like no other ranged Killer.
-
@TheClownIsKing said:

Sure, rewarded, but fair. There are 5 people playing, not 1.
4 gen perks stacked together shouldn’t be so strong working in tandem that survivors are just spinning their wheels, and bothering to try to do their objective becomes almost pointless because of the almost constant regression occurring.
And yes, the "fair" thing. Anything that could pose a challenge = broken. You didn't say anything original here.
Like I said, the DBD community fears change... also forgot to mention that they call anything that could give a new problem instead of hold M1 "broken" and how it "needs to go" (AKA nerfed so they don't have to think about it) so they can stick to the same safe things. :)
... And yes, I AM saying that none of these are broken stacked together. Carefully go through the conditions for these to activate and what they do in practice and the point falls apart.

My definition of viable is able to win with that character.
Therefore, every killer is viable, but not every killer is good.
Sure, any Killer can win/4k against not very skilled Survivors, or average Survivors with a meta perk build. But I wouldn't call Killers like Pig, who gets destroyed by loopers who know how to repeatedly shut down ambush and not get downed so she can't use her power, "viable", per se.
-
So what? If the Killer dedicates 4 entire slots to gen defense perks, they should be rewarded.
The DBD community actively fears doing anything interesting with perks because of specific situations because they hate change, it's honestly impressive on how no other community has this fear and desire for stagnancy.
-
I'm assuming you're saying this because of cherrypicked Youtuber videos or people like Otzdarva showing the one way of making him... acceptable? Not even viable, just acceptable.
-
The big issues with Trickster is that he gets turned into a M1 Killer like Huntress, and can't split pressure like Huntress because of laceration. The lack of map mobility makes this even worse. Harder to play than Huntress on console, and he's SUPER weak to shack as well. Huntress only needs 1 hit to take a health state, Trickster needs 8, and that shows HARD on loops with walls, with easy 30+ second chases for the Survivor.
Sure, Trickster is amazing at open loops... but so what? So is Huntress and Slinger. They can do what he does just as easily, and NOT suffer in other areas.
This is why he's considered one of the worst: He's a chase-oriented Killer who is only good at one subset of chases. Other chase Killers like Huntress and Slinger are better at multiple aspects of a chase, because they don't need 8 shots and aren't weak to Killer shack.
I'm sorry but he is 100% NOT B tier, not the same tier as Oni tier because he gets destroyed more easily by competent Survivors (NOT SWF teams mind you, just competent Survivors) compared to Oni, and Oni has instadowns and map mobility.

Everything they said and showed in the anniversary stream are either vague additions that don't address the core problems of the game at all, or repetitive jargon they've spoken about such as game stability, bugs, and console optimization which yet again they promised before but have yet to follow through on.
They had their own developers on stream talking about how the next few coming updates were going to be "super" exciting yet on their own 5 year anniversary all they can say is a new type of totem and vague same old talk on issues they seem too incapable of fixing themselves 5 years through? That and another boring copy cat reused asset anniversary event of last year with no meaningful gameplay additions whatsoever... but yeah, so much change coming to dbd...
Where's the "actual" news bhvr? When are we getting new gameplay modes? leaderboards? stat pages? theater mode? totem rework? secondary objectives to break the monotony of dbd's gameplay loop? trial warmup you talked about a year and a half ago and somehow didn't go through with because whoever you have balancing your game is too scared to what'll it do to rank 20 meg heads?
The "best" thing to come from this stream is an actual updated tutorial *after 5 years* and actual functioning a.i in dbd. This is the only promising thing, that and key and mori reworks... *and isn't it so funny they spent soooo long talking about the mori reworks and them used to being toxic yet waaaaay at the end they just barely slide in the fact that key reworks are coming along with it to? I swear these devs don't even try to hide their survivor bias*
I doesn't matter to me that we can craft better versions of firecrackers now in lockers, i want some actual REAL updates and changes, none of this small time could've done whenever content on their 5th ANNIVERSARY stream of all things. 5 years and these are their BIG and FUNDAMENTAL changes we've been begging for years about.
Anyways, the new chapter is cool, the a.i and tutorial is cool and definitely needed, but everything else is kinda like what are you thinking bhvr? I couldn't give less of a cent on a new measely totem type when you can't figure out how to obscure their locations properly after 5 years. like seriously! change change up the loop layouts to have more debirs and add grass like in dead dog saloon! And stop putting them NEXT TO GENS AND OPEN TREES... let your survivors learn the game and not handhold at every step... yeesh.
I'm honestly thinking that their new "300 staff" is mostly everything except actual coders.

That’s the big question no one can answer.
some say they hate it because of their religion, or it brings politics into the game. But they don’t have anything against other stuff that’s already in the game and against their religious beliefs or that already brought political topics in..
Other, more understandable reasons include not wanting to think of emotionally charged topics like LGBT rights. Video games are considered a form of escapism for everyone. (Key word: Everyone, don't try to imply that I'm defending people who "want to not fight for LGBT rights" or who "want to pretend that LGBT don't exist" or something), people who are expressing discontent in a polite manner and saying "it's political" may not like thinking about issues that are linked with negative history in everyone's minds.

Source on what, exactly? That the game has a large LGBT following? Because that doesn't need a "source", it's a straight fact. Look on replies to BHVR's Tweets, or streamers on Twitch and Youtube, or even the amount of discussion on these very forums about it.
A source on there being a large LGBT following, specifically. This has been thrown around a lot and I've never seen a basis for it.
And it actually does need a source because people on these forums also say not to listen to Twitter... Twitter is... unique, the replies don't necessarily represent a large portion of the community, streamers on Twitch and Youtube... you mean smaller streamers? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head... and a people talking about the flag =/= large LGBT following. I have seen people happy about the flag but not necessarily saying that they're LGBT, as well as people explicitly saying they're hetero/straight but also saying they support the flag.
Also, by bringing up the discussion regarding the new charm, you seem to have just said that the amount of discussion talking about it equals that all of those people are LGBT? That's... concerning.

Laurie is S, her perks nerfed but still she has strongest perks in game. And Ace is with Steve and Quentin. And Zarina perks are not that bad, she is clearly B.
Others i agree.
It's understandable, but you're forgetting that this tier list rates Survivors based off of ALL of their teachables. Laurie has DS, but DS is no longer meta like BT and DH, OoO has been nerfed and Sole Survivor is the worst obsession perk in the game, possibly the worst Survivor teachable perk in the game. Ace, imo, is either below Laurie or tied with Laurie in this regard because of stuff like Up The Ante. Luck is still the most useless mechanic in the game and desperately needs a rework.
I'd honestly say that Laurie has dropped in the ladder because of this, Sole Survivor is dragging her down immensely and she's only saved by DS now. She's either B tier at most or lower.

maybe people are just annoyed that lgbt have the constant need to flaunt their existence. Like, cool, I get it. You're gay. You don't need to wave a flag for it. You don't need to have a parade for it. You don't need every corporation throwing the rainbow into their logo for you. Straight people don't wave a flag for themselves, and they don't feel the need to constantly be on a metaphorical megaphone screaming "HEY LOOK AT ME, HERE I AM, I EXIST." Just be gay and go about your life like a normal human being would without the everpresent need to insist on and announce yourself and your community. It's obnoxious.
Just ignore it, avoid these topics if it helps. I have my own feelings on this, mostly out of concern because I've noticed a worrisome mindset... but you're only going to get your account banned. Not like that username probably isn't ban-worthy.

I really don't know why this game in particular attracts lgbt people, maybe we just have good taste in video game genres.
And for dieharddiva they did the exact same thing as they were doing before and just spamming "cringe".
More than likely because of BHVR's statements on Twitter.
-
I don't think I will ever understand how pixels in a video game means anything meaningful to any person who isn't completely absorbed in media. Like, this is nothing. The struggles are not real, nothing in fiction exists.
A flag not being in a game does not mean that one does not exist, this is a concerning mindset that gets promoted a lot. The fact that people get excited and think that a single line from a writer about non-binary people or some cosmetic in a single video game = "I exist" is concerning.
It says a lot on the level of self-worth and belief in oneself if a LGBT person ties their worth to a single character/object/cosmetic... in a single video game. Which is VERY worrisome, since it reflects a dangerously low level of self-worth which will not be changed via shout-outs. Perhaps instead of glorifying this, we should instead refer LGBT people who feel worthless and like they "don't exist" without a shout-out (cuz that's what this is) to a therapist or something that helps with self-worth instead?
Or am I secretly anti-LGBT for identifying the root of a major emotional issue and daring to ruin a source of dopamine for first-worlders who wanna show how "for the minorities" they are?
-
@Squirrel_Thicc said:

That's exactly how. Ik that most people wouldn't say they're doing it, but removing the charm would be punishing people who literally just want to wear it.
Too bad not everyone wearing it is going to be doing so honestly, some people on Twitter, when the charms were leaked, were saying how they were going to be trying to make "homophobes" mad by wearing the charm.
I sense they're the type to actively try to be toxic and obnoxious and then say it's because they are LGBT... which is probably exactly the type of person "I'm gonna tunnel this charm" people have in mind.

The fact that it has the potential to kill survivors already makes it more inclined towards killers, does it not?
I never, never, would have thought that someone would actually think EGC is bad because "it can possibly kill Survivors".

It's not that deep. They're there as options. Something a lot of people tend to overlook with hexes is that they get survivors to do secondary objectives in cleansing them which is in and of itself a positive thing for the killer. Yes obviously you don't want to lose your hex perk but a survivor cleansing is a survivor not doing a generator. That's why people who use hex builds tend to go a little heavy on them like with undying, haunted and retribution to protect something like Ruin and waste survivors time cleansing and punishing them for it. Never mind the fact that if you happen to interrupt a survivor cleansing one they lose all their progress which is a massive waste of time.
I switch it up from time to time and use hexes or more reliable perks depending on how I feel.
Oh, but it is that deep, and your mentality is the problem with DBD. Your mindset is exactly why we have so many weak perks in general: The DBD community fears change and anything that might switch things up.
"They're there as options." Uh huh, if you want to run Ruin.
"Secondary objectives" Only applies to NOED and Ruin, 10 seconds is not that long to cleanse a totem. Stop defending weak perks.
Hexes should be strong because once the hex is gone, you lose the perk. High risk high reward, THAT is ACTUAL balance. If you want to lower the reward because you want to slam gens and don't want to do bones, then you need to lower the risk. You want to defend perks like Blood Favor and make sure they stay weak? Make them not hexes or give hexes natural defenses. Dedicating another precious perk slot to defend a weak totem is unacceptable and I shouldn't have to explain why.
You're defending high risk, mediocre-low reward because "YOU CAN RUN IT IF YOU WANT TO USE IT" even though absolutely nobody would want to run Lullaby or Blood Favor outside of a dedicated build. Which is not good and Lullaby and Blood Favor is most likely EXACTLY what the topic creator had in mind when making this topic.

No one knows. it was briefly mentioned that they are working on a new auto ban system. Now - just like clockwork in an elementary school - the forum has gone completely hyperbolic and hysterical. Instead of waiting for information - some people are just freaking out like scared children.
There are no details because the system isn't even completed nor has it even been internally tested yet. So for your own piece of mind I recommend just ignoring any threads about it as they will only be fueled by paranoia and speculation and have no facts whatsoever.
They said something on how people with a lot of reports would be reviewed. However, they explained how this would work fundamentally by bringing up volume of reports and such. "Wait for more information" does not work here as a result since they gave the core concept, sorry Jasix.
-
@Starshadw said:
Once again, They clearly stated VOLUME of reports is the key. So it won't be possible to grief anyone with this. Four reports isn't going to hit anyone with a ban - but one hundred reports probably will.
Basically, if you aren't a toxic jerk, you have nothing to worry about. If you ARE worried about this announcement? You may want to ask yourself why.
So, I guess streamers are toxic, huh? Guess people deciding to remove a streamer they don't like from DBD is impossible and that streamer has to ask themselves why they were being such a toxic jerk.
Not to mention that I'm confident they said that they would be reviewing players who got a lot of reports and then decide then, not that they would be banned automatically.
-
"Too many advantages"? I never knew "throwing the game" was a good advantage, same for "getting genrushed due to a lack of pressure".
And absolutely not, these changes would be abused by Survivors who rush the hook to stall Killers who don't camp while their teammates do gens.

Didn't someone already figure out that Cote made a intentional reference to Claire in the RE stream?
They seemed to be hinting that the Survivor or one of the Survivors would be Claire.

Nothing is ever good enough huh. Ruin is literally a game changer to this day. NOED and Devour Hope are powerful. Retribution, Haunted and Crowd Control are underrated.
Hex perks should never be inherently broken in terms of their power. I understand it can be frustrating to have survivors load in on a hex totem but that's a problem BHVR needs to fix.
If you don't like the way Hexes work then just use other perks that are more consistent like Pop, Oppression, Discordance etc
Haunted is fine, but the others being "underrated"... sorry but no. No mention to Blood Favor and Lullaby by the way?
"Hex perks should never be inherently broken in terms of their power." So, you want low-medium reward for a high risk perk. Proof that this community should not be in charge of balance, because they're the ones who don't want things changing ever.
"Then use another peeerk" Why, good idea! That's exactly what everyone does instead of running these hex perks! Which is EXACTLY what this TC is talking about! Pop is INDEED superior, so why use these bad hexes? Because you're too scared that you might have to deal with something new?

They do if they don't want to get looped around pallets and vaults for 5 gens, unable to do anything at all other than follow along and hope for scraps, attempt "tricks" which will never work because the Surv is always positioned perfectly.

Given that Jund most likely will just say "not a good Spirit" or move the goalposts, I doubt it would even matter if they took the challenge.

As soon as I know it's a Hag, I check to see if she's experienced and react accordingly. I set off her traps intentionally whenever possible so they can't be used in chases later on. Scenarios like Laluzi's have a lower chance of working if I'm on the team, specifically. I don't respect Hag traps, which is why they have a lower chance of winning.

Hag is good because you run to a pallet/window and either see the trap there, forcing you to take a 90* turn or a backtrack that leads to her hitting you, or you run/vault through and she teleports to the other side and hits you. She's one of the few killers that can go 'lol' at the basics of looping. Her traps are way less visible from a distance than Trapper's and blend into most maps' terrain, she has more of them, they're all instantly available, they take less time to place, and they grant her very high map mobility.
Everyone knows that Hag can hook camp, but even when she's not doing that, she can kick plenty of ass just by trapping the strongest tiles and turning them into instant hits when survivors run to them. She can also quickly force a survivor leave a strong tile she doesn't want them to be in by placing a trap (and chase them towards the structures she does have trapped.) She can shut down everything around a 3-gen and she's also got a good game for finding survivors just by random triggers across the map.
She can be rendered toothless by a team that's using third-party communications and always has someone hanging back to call her traps and defuse them when she's busy, but it requires all the players to understand what the goal is and act in very specific ways, so many teams struggle with it regardless. I don't think it's as easy as you make it out to be, especially when destroying her traps involves either an item you have to have (and if you bring it in, most Hags will run Franklins), or the Hag omae wa mou'ing you if she's not occupied in that moment.
She doesn't have the same power ceiling as Nurse, Spirit, or even Blight, because a team that's good enough can consistently neuter her power, but she's more than just a pub stomper and she's much more dangerous than other killers that can wreck pubs but struggle with coordinated teams.
I get your point but this entire post assumes four things:
- That Hag has trapped said vault.
- That Hag has trapped a vault specifically (this has a lesser chance of working on dropped pallets, Survs can just fast vault back to the other side)
- That someone has not already defused it.
- That you need a SWF to shut down her power repeatedly and make it much more useless. Running over her traps intentionally and then running to a loop does not require a SWF, Hag can be bullied by a single solo Survivor who has game sense. If the Hag teleports, she wastes time occupying a single Survivor while the others do gens. Hag's power can be turned against her like Thrill can be turned against Killers.

Just lost a hag game? I was gonna argue but it's pretty much what @Haddix@Huge_Bush said
Honestly, no. I typically bully Hags I come across in solo queue. Shutting down their traps is easy.

I mean, if you're purposefully going around setting off her traps, than you aren't doing gens. Sounds like she's still winning. Better to go against three players than four.
It's not hard to set off a trap or two real quick and then run to a gen. It's not like Trapper's traps. And if the Hag teleports to me, she's being contained and not patrolling gens. :)

She's almost at Nurse tier against solo players, but she comes down to B+ tier against SWF. She's counterable, but if the player controlling her knows what they're doing, she will even make a well coordinated swf team sweat.
With certain perks and add-ons, she can be so frustrating - Make Your Choice is down right oppressive on her.
"Almost at Nurse tier against solo players" No.
She's VERY counterable as you said, therefore nowhere near Nurse.
And mind explaining a bit further?

No Hag is good because she has the ability to camp without even being there and you say her traps are easy to counter let me ask you something have you never played against an experienced hag who knows how to hide her traps and place them in ways you won't expect? if not then you may wanna check out Michi probably the best Hag to ever be in Dead by Daylight he shows why Hag is a top tier Killer.
So, the ability to "camp"... by crouching over her traps and saving and then forcing her to come back or basically admit she wasted time placing traps?
And, tbh, not particularly, every Hag I come across is bad or doing a daily. Not like it matters, "hiding her traps" means absolutely nothing lmao. gets free hits sure but that requires Survivors not catching on.

The Killer was most likely running Stridor, which is a perk that, at Tier 3, can make even Tier 3 Iron Will sounds slightly audible.

I loved Deathgarden, they really need to market the new IP better than it though.
If they try to make DBD people play it and then call it a day the game is dead in the water...
Yup.
Of course, this is assuming this new IP is a asym.

I mean think about it survivors only say gg when they win but when they all die they just send death threats, salt, and blame the killer for the mistakes that the survivors made. I mean I love getting salt msgs but sheesh lol its sad. I know there are a few survivors that say gg regardless of losing and I respect them. Some people just need to take the L and move on. Like what are the odds of survivors saying gg when they lose.
This happens for Killers as well, people typically say "gg" when they win and feel happy, they don't say it when losing because they don't feel happy... outside of a smaller percentage of mature gamers.
EDIT: It also might be as others said, the Survivors who were sacrificed and were chill probably just left the game to find another.
