I think the point he's trying to make is that people want the game balance solely around the chance that there is a 4Man on comms. They don't care about the 2/3 mans. But if you add voice chat in game everyone will be on coms. Sure you'll get people who wont talk but at least you can tell them stuff like the killer's location, totem placements, gen statuses that as a solo player you would be unable to do.
If people want to play as a team with voice coms the game should balance around that. Not doing so is asking people whom play killer to have a not fun time.

What is Balanced Landing?
What is Self-Care?
What is Iron Will?
What is Urban Evasion?Just having these 4 perks is so good. 1 Exhaustion perk for running, Iron will can help bamboozle some killers and helps you stealth when injured, Urban Evasion amplifies Iron Will, making a god like combo, it is also extremely good against Nurse and is just useful for stealth in general kind of acts like calm spirit for the crows since you are crouching, Self-Care for self reliance.
You are probably just to dependent on decisive.
Urban evasion, you serious?
What's wrong with it? As a solo survivor I use the perk and it's helped more times than I can count. Is great against Nurse and Spirit and downright counters Hag.

I like that idea actually. Allow survivors to talk to each other in-game, eradicating the voice comms advantage that SWF groups have and buff killers appropriately to balance it.They already are quasi-doing this by stating their intention to buff solos to SWF levels. The thing is any buff they give to solos would also apply to SWF squads. The game has no way currently to track SWF survivors once the match begins. So unless they give voice chat to everyone the gap will always exist and the game will never be balanced. Anything they do right now will either hurt killers or solo survivors. I don't see them trying SWF-only nerfs even if they could track SWF. It would be a repeat of the Freddy and Exhaustion Nerf review bombs all over again if they did.
-
@Paddy4583 The devs in a stream a whiles back they said that 70% of matches contain SWF groups. SWF is the large majority of survivors. I'd wager most solo survivors are killer mains and people new to the game.
@Paddy4583 said:
Probably because they have the actual numbers of solo players and SWF players and it’s not the way you picture it, why add something to a game that people can already access if they want it, only way adding voice chat to the game could be balanced is it being proxsimity based and heard by the killer, and the. People would go back to their current coms, it’s a pointless waste of time and resources. You don't need to add proximity chat. The killer doesn't have to hear the voice chat for it to be balanced. The devs could do other things to balance around voice chat like buffing killer stealth so killers can hide better from groups and adding a secondary objective that's more difficult than generators to slow down the game.
-
I would hope the devs wouldn't be so cynical. Just because they have a quasi-monopoly on this genre doesn't mean they can't improve their game.
-
As I posted on the Steam forums:
The logical solution would be to add voice chat in-game, thereby killing solos, and balancing around that as the baseline. I have no idea why they haven't other than some stubborn attachment to the original creative vision for the game.
The thing is most survivors already play in SWF squads. From watching the biggest streamers it's clear that the players already have de-facto killed the idea of 4 random survivors unable to communicate outwitting a killer.
The devs need to admit the truth.

Balance the game around premade teams with voice chat (aka SWF) and lobby dodging would cease to exist. You can't force people to play a unbalanced game that they don't find fun.

I respond with something like "have a lovely day." or something sexual like "insult me more daddy." Usually throws them off their game and I get a good laugh out of their reactions.

To be honest deranking would be your best bet. Until the devs balance around voice chat and abandon their "not all killers will be viable at rank 1" philosophy it's your only option. Just play like you'd normally do and take the loses that come. You'll reach your sweat spot rank of challenge and fun eventually.
-
The games graphic options are piss poor. Which doesn't help with how poor the optimization is. Dead by Daylight doesn't even run in Exclusive Fullscreen! You can't do anything about it which causes heavy drops in performance.
There was supposed to be an optimization patch released in December that would benefit low rig PCs and consoles but their plans changed and now optimization will come in a series of updates between now and Summer when the game gets dedicated servers.
All I want is exclusive fullscreen and proper rendering resolutions so I can finally play this game on my GPD Win 2.

Gen rushing, flashligt saving and pallet looping are game mechanics. You need to quit crying and adapt.Devs agree with me.
The devs intended for games to last an average of 10 minutes. They are aware of the gen time problems and have talked about reworking the end game, adding secondary objectives for survivors, and buffing solos to SWF levels so they can buff killers. The thing is this being Behaviour their promises don't always plan out or if they do they take years to arrive. See also the December PASS and the Freddy Rework.
-
@Nickenzie The game was not balanced around map wide 4 person voice chat. Hence the aura perks and maps for survivors. Anyone who plays in a SWF group with voice chat is getting an advantage the killer can not counter.
-
@Nickenzie said:
Looks like the ranking system is OP. Rank 14 and a rank 4, lul. That's SWF for yeah. It looks like the low ranks are smurfs considering they all have tier 3 meta perks. They were looking to bully a baby killer, but I guess not a Freddy.
-
The only way to stop tunnelling is to increase the length of the average game so killers don't feel like they need to tunnel to have a chance. If killers could play more casually without getting curb stomped by the game's current imbalance they would.
-
I was once called “a tryhard trying to reach rank 1” while playing without add-ons, ruin, BBQ, and NOED by a mixed rank SWF group with multiple adrenalines, dead-hards, DS, and items. 🤣
SWF squads expect you to follow so many ‘rules’ but then they can do whatever the hell they want and if you complain or point out the hypocrisy you’ll be on the receiving end of very toxic comments.
-
The devs are going to change how lobbies work so all 4 survivors load in at the same time no matter if they’re 4 solos or a full SWF squad.Gamzello said:SWF groups has a higher chance of winning against killers. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that all SWF are good. I play with my bf on PS4 and we’re like average. We still have our moments of losing or dying mid-match.
Just dodge if you see a 4-man?
Dodging will be useless soon. -
It would look bad for the game and the devs if they handed out BPs for facing SWF squads. It would be them admitting they won’t do anything about voice chat.
“Yeah we know SWF isn’t balanced, is toxic, and not fun but we don’t give a damn. Here’s some blood points. Now shut up.” -
One way to bajance around voice chat is to remove the terror radius heartbeat notification or make 50% quieter. The terror radius would still function with perks that work with it, it just wouldn’t make any or as much noise. That way SWF couldn’t track the killer so easily.
They could make hex totems dirty and covered in blood to hide them better. Maybe allow the killer to ignite a dull totem to replace the cleansed hex. That would encourage people to cleanse totems and help slow down the game.
Add a mandatory secondary objective tied into the gens or exit gate. Make it so survivors have to collect 3 fuses before they can use an exit switch. Allow killers to regress the exit gate switch like they can with gens.
There’s a lot the devs could do without limiting perks. Killers already have to deal with Ruin and BBQ&Chili being mandatory on high ranks which limits their perk choice. I wouldn’t want survivors to experience something like that. -

All these tips help with dealing solos too. They do nothing to help killers deal with voice chat.LCGaster said:If you see them bring flashlights or whatever use Franklin's Demise, they love their stuff and will run back to it wasting their time, if you are playing Hag put a trap on the item. If you see that the one you are chasing is extremely good and can't catch him just avoid him, go for someone else. Remember who has Dead Hard and once you're close wait for them to waste it, or lunge an instant after they use it, so once the animation ends you will hit them. Once you catch the DS user either wait for them to waste it staying still, bring Enduring, dribble them (Only when you are close to a hook) or walk backwards before they use it, you don't know how many times they run right in front of me right after. Remember that they can see the Red Stain, try to manipulate it by walking backwards, looking at walls, etc. to confuse them. The next one applies to me, I don't know if it would work for you, play all killers on rotation, learn some tricks, I skip a few of them because I either know I'm too bad with them or the killer himself is under powered. Play a lot of survivor, I was a survivor main, and a few months ago I became mostly a killer main, by playing survivor you will learn how to think like them and understand what their next move might be. If you have more questions just ask
-
How does the killer counter 4 people using voice chat to tell each other the location of the killer, traps, and hexes? Not to mention the status of gens, certain killer perks (Make your choice, Spirit Fury, etc.), and what killer they’re facing before they themselves have seen the killer.LCGaster said:SWF are annoying to deal with, but so what? Get better, git gud as they say. Killers got some buffs which help at least a little bit. I play a lot of killer and I can say that now it's less about survivors making the wrong choices or luck and more about your own skill as a killer.
I think you should play more survivor to understand how they play, and learn how to counter them. Instead of getting angry over survivors playing together try to use your failures as experience to use in the future. I noticed you are only at rank 15, maybe the picture was taken right after the rank reset, if you start complaining at this rank you will never want to play this game again once you reach purple or even green ranks
With SWF the killer loses any element of surprise. This is bad because that’s something the game was balanced around the killer having. -
The main advantage of SWF IS voice chat. It cuts down on the confusion and chaos that can come with 4 solos. But I’m glad you admit SWF is a problem.
Can you then not empathize with killers who don’t want to play with SWF? Telling them to Git Gud or calling them babies that want ez wins isn’t going to fix balance issues or convince them to play a game they don’t find fun.
SWF has been a problem for years and it’s been over a year since the devs acknowledged the skill cieling gap between solos and SWF. Since then they’ve done nothing but block the killer loadout in the end screen.
I dont blame killers who do doge or have left the game entirely considering how little the devs have done to deal with SWF. Too many broken promises. -
@TheBean I wasn’t even talking about lobby doggers. I was talking about people who have stopped playing killer because they don’t find it fun. Hence the long queue times for survivors.
And if you think the game could handle the lobby dogging killers leaving you’re crazy. The event proves otherwise. The population of killers is in dire straits and can’t handle any more defections or else survivor queue times become too long.
Also I noticed you ignored my remarks on balancing around voice chat. 🧐
So I’ll ask again how does balancing the game around voice chat, something 70% of survivors already use, ruin the game?
Every other asymmetrical horror game does it, so why not DbD? -
TIL balancing the game around voice chat like every other single multiplayer game, including other asymmetrical horror games like F13, Identity V, and Nightmare: Last Year, would ruin the game.TheBean said:I guess you just want to ruin the game for a big portion of the community simply because you can't suck it up and play the game like many others are doing.
Well then enjoy your lobby simulator SWF groups because people don’t find killer fun. 😘 -
Their's not enough people willing to play killer. It has nothing to do with matchmaking and more with the event and balance issues. People do not find killer fun and so many have stopped playing.
-
@Master don't forget closing the gap between SWF and solos, the Optimization PASS, buffing killers to handle SWF, and a secondary objective for survivors. Man oh man do the Devs have a lot on their plate. I'm sure we will start seeing the results for all these many promises any day now.

-
SWF is an issue. The game was not and is not balanced around premade teams with voice chat. It was balanced around 4 randos who can't speak with each other. Survivors who defend SWF are the ones who want ez wins not killers who complain about what is the game's biggest balance issue. Killers want fun and fair matches. Not toxic stressful matches with SWF teams.
And I'm not some salty killer main. I play survivor too and think Nurse should be nerfed because like SWF, matches with a good Nurse are not fun or fair.
-
That's normal for green ranks. A lot of people derank because they're tired of the stale Nurse-Billy-Claudette meta at high ranks. If you want to derank that's fine but why bring the survivor side of that meta with you? Instead of running DS/BT/ADREN/DH why not try some other perks? Because all they're doing is teaching more killer mains to play Billy or Nurse only if they want to have a chance. You can't expect people to play mid and low tier killers with non-meta perks when you're bringing the best of the best survivor perks and are in a SWF group.
-
Nurse is the only S-tier killer and does need major nerfs. Billy just needs a few minor tweaks and he would be fine. Spirit, Hag, Myers, Huntress and Clown are the balanced killers. Everyone else is trash and needs major help.
But the devs don't balance around high ranks. So enjoy the ebony mori Nurse vs toxic SWF P3 Claudette squads games at high ranks people. It's all you'll get until the devs finally balance around voice chat and rework Nurse.
-
Rank is messed up because of SWF matchmaking or to be more specific the complete absence of it. SWF does not use an average rank of the squad to match with a killer but the rank of the person who invited the other members into thier SWF lobby. This is why a killer can face off against hundreds of red and purple rank survivors without ever reaching those ranks. This is why survivors can reach red ranks without ever facing off against red rank killers. They can just pair up with a low rank buddy and abuse noob killers to get easy pips.
Dead by Daylight is the rare game where smurfing is possible without needing to de-rank or buy a second copy of the game. At least on the survivor side. The devs seemingly do not care because they've had 2 years to fix this issue.
-
They should fix this. Even when playing as Leatherface and Billy they make no noise once their saws are charged. It breaks the immersion.
-
All survivors have to earn points is grab a lantern and leave. They don't even have to do a gen because once one survivor does a gen everyone gets points. So everyone wants to play survivor because it's easier and less stressful.

On PS4, there is pretty much no wait time for killers, you find a game instantly. But with survivors, the wait time is ridiculous. Waiting 30 minutes or more to find a game as survivor is just unacceptable. The only way the devs can fix survivor wait times is somehow convince more people to play killer. DbD is facing a killer shortage right now.
I usually main killer anyways, but tonight I felt like playing survivor. What's with the shortage of killers?
To gain a decent amount of event points killers have to hook each survivor 3 times, and destroy 2+ lanterns. The number of lanterns of course dependent on survivors burning event offerings. So to recap the devs expect killers to play a perfect game in an event that pushes survivors to rush gens. That's not happening.
-

The fact is the game was not and is not balanced around premade teams using voice chat. Anyone making use of this is giving themselves a huge advantage in this game. Asking killers to endure this broken OP feature is why survivor que times are so lengthy. All it takes is one straw to break the proverbial camel's back (like this lousy event for killer for instance) and the killer population plummets. If the devs want more people to play killer they have to address SWF. Facing against SWF tends to not be a fun experience so why should people play killer?
-
The Nurse is OP but seeing as she's the only killer who can out skill a 4 person SWF squad the devs are afraid to touch her. If they nerfed or reworked her without doing something to address SWF... well... let's just say it would cause quite the commotion among the killer community.
-

Both nurse and gen times are OP and need to be addressed.
-
They really do. They need to bite the bullet and do something about voice coms. As you said the killer population is declining while the survivor population is growing. I can guarantee the game will be just as popular in sales and still a Twitch darling even with SWF balanced. The more toxic SWF groups are a minority, a loud one yes, but still a minority. The devs shouldn't be afraid of them anymore. The game is in its best state yet balance wise and it'd be near perfection if SWF was dealt with.
If toxic SWFs leave after balancing the game will still survive. If SWF continues to be OP, more killers will continue to leave and then survivor wait times will reach dangerous levels. The game will die.
-
You'd think everyone who plays the game already knows SWF with voice coms is op but if you look at a post on here, the subreddit, or the Steam forums mentioning SWF balance issues you'll find many players denying that SWF is unbalanced.
It's because of these toxic people that the devs refuse to balance the game around voice chat, or nerf SWF. Even after admitting (1 year ago I may add) the game is not balanced and that they want to close the gap between solos and SWF. Nothing major has been done.
They're afraid these folks would review bomb the game. Too many people enjoy the bully simulator aspect of SWF.

CandyManIf he got in I'd make his power to lay down bees on chests, vaults, lockers, gens, pallets, totems, exit gates, the trapdoor and hooks. Any survivor who interacts with a trapped object lets out a small scream and for 4-6 seconds will have bees follow them. Candyman will see their auras when the bees are following a survivor if they are within his terror radius.
Candyman could only trap 10 items at a time. Survivors can not be injured by the bees. Mabye an ultra rare add-on could do that.

Okapi said:Whatever they do against SWF they need do it fast. Personally I think they should just add voice chat in game. Most survivors already use it and it's not going anywhere. Their original artistic intentions for the game were destroyed when they added SWF in the first place. They need to admit that and finally balance their game.
It's been 2 years of killers dealing with a broken feature. 2 years of Billys and Nurses only. 2 years of gen rush. 2 years of mandatory ruin. Enough is enough.
Voice chat will not resolve anything as I stated in the OP. It would require an entire reworking of the games fundamental cores, which would essentially reworking everything from the ground up. It's not as simple as adding voice and giving the Killer some measley buffs
The thing what else can they do? It's been 1 year since they promised to buff solos up to the level of SWF and then balance around killers around that.
Nothing has been done to buff solos since then. The most they did to close the gap was block the killer's load-out when someone dies. Hell they still haven't fixed SWF matchmaking and to this day high rank players use SWF to bully baby killers.
They clearly have no intention of separating SWF into their own mode or lobbies. Which would be the correct decision as the game does not have a large enough player base to support 2 modes.
I'm losing faith in the devs to balance both solos and SWF at the same time. If they can't do it why not bite the bullet and kill of solos by adding in-game voice chat?
The people have spoken and they prefer playing survivor with voice chat. Hence the game wining the "Better with Friends" Steam award. Give them what they want and fix killer at the same time.
