Pop is weaker on him because he has cages and pop got nerfed on top of this. Corrupt is good regardless but once those 2 minutes are up, you're screwed.
You aren't going to cage every survivor you chase. A core part of PH is knowing when to cage or when to hook.
All I'm saying is Pyramid Head existed before Undying, and he did completely fine then. This won't "kill" him.
-
Pyramid Head is A tier, and while the RuinDying combo helped basically every killer, it's not going to kill him. Pop is still completely valid on him. Corrupt is still completely valid on him. Ruin alone is still completely valid.
-
It's also be broken.
Legion ignores basically everything while in Feral Frenzy, on top of going faster and getting info. If he could one hit down with it too?
Yowza.
-
The Devs themselves told us not to draw any conclusion from the stats. These arguments are silly. I'm 100% sure the Freddy nerf is for multiple reasons outside of the killrates.
-
Eh. Probably not, but idk. It'd certain stop the reliance on his cooldown add--ons for a lot of people.
-
Bubba went from being one of the worst killers in the game to being a high b-tier. He was even easier before because he didn't have the resource management he does now.
Bubba's the most powerful in deadzones, but so is any other killer. Windows counter Bubba heavily, and against him you can't be greedy. Looping him around long objects with strange hitboxes can make it difficult for him to catch up. He's powerful, but he's not OP. Did you forget he had no mobility?
Also, his perks? BBQ is mainly used for BP, and Knock Out and Franklin's Demise only work on basic attacks. Franklin's is basically a waste of a perk slot most of the time, and a good few perks completely counter Knock Out.

Im glad it's getting a change but it still should've been here sooner. At least a limiter on the range a SWF can cover should be. Red ranks and rank 16s shouldn't be allowed to pair because the new player learns nothing and the killer gets screwed.
Well, again, with the upcoming update rank will no longer matter. Everyone will start at rank 20 at the beginning of the month, but should still be ranked with their skill level.
I don't know how the new MMR will work with SWF.

they do ######### we don't need instead of fixing the ######### the community largely complains about. A lot of people hate matchmaking, a lot of people (especially killer mains) hate how keys were not nerfed while moris were.
Well, as others have pointed out, the animation team is separate from the balance team. There isn't just one team that does everything. A writer, for example, has nothing to do with map design.
Again, matchmaking is getting a supposed fix in the next patch. It's aim is to match you with only people of your skill level, rank will no longer matter. It will also let you practice with other killers without going against sweat squads. At least in theory.
Mori's were a simple numerical change and needed to be nerfed. Key's are getting nerfed, but more is changing. There is easily a chance that they are changing them with this next patch and simply not announcing it. Like they did with mori's.
-
Ho boy.
Well, first of all, there's a matchmaking fix in this next patch coming up. If it works is another story, but it's coming.
They're reanimating all of the survivors basic movement, not just teabagging. How people can get so upset over a joke is astounding.
Also... No matter how bad the Devs piss you off, you shouldn't wish for them to lose their livelihood. That's just scummy.
-
Another needless "Us vs Them" post that doesn't do a thing to add anything to this community! Thanks OP, your the best! I'll throw this one onto the thousand other posts like this!

Yeah, suppose its expected though, the older killers eventually will become the relics of the past wont they, much like poor Evan's kit that they r e f u s e to update
and cool, I thought it was too fancy not to be its own thing
Honestly, a few of them already have imo. Oni is just Myers but way better. I'm just hoping that they EVENTUALLY buff poor Trapper eventually.
Yeah, a few of the killers have unique "sub-realms". Freddy has the Dream World, Demo and the Upside Down.

I have to agree, I feel like a lot of characters backstories were kinda cut and dry, more so on the killer side than survivor!
I'd love to know more snippets of information about characters like this, maybe we should put it in the next developer q&a?!
Yeah you'd think Spirit would, it'd be cool to get a lightburn on her as well, it would also add a way to actually mindgame spirit, depending on the spirit's skill level!
It's mainly the earlier characters. The new characters have fantastic writing. It's night and day to look at something like the twins or Blight, then look at something like "Machete man with daddy issues". The archives really deliberate on lore now. Trapper's archive gave him a lot more character.
As far as I understand (All this info is from the Wiki, so it might be wrong now) Spirit ACTUALLY operates in the Ethereal Plane.
-
I think it's similar to why Wraith wasn't buffed beyond the QoL change either, that they (hopefully) will be getting more changes eventually. Probably after Demo, Mikey- whoever they work on next.

Yeah, James is the guy who DCs when he's downed first.
Yeah exactly! Without any hope (which Cheryl has had to rely on for her whole life, including previous reincarnations, which you will come to better terms with if you do get the so rumoured remaster) the entity would have nothing to feed off of or enjoy, seeing as this is basically for sport in its eyes (if you can say that it has eyes).
Yeah more than likely Demopup has some sort of organised calling.
I knew about Wraith (im just a massive Evan fanboy so he would be my first choice), but the Nurse one is a shocker to me, guess i'm never playing nurse again :(( I feel bad!
Yeah Herman's just a massive jackass... rip killers with interesting lore but he built different.
I'd honestly rather a new game, but I'm pretty sure it won't happen.
Exactly. Cheryl must be quite the snack for the Entity, considering all the ######### she's gone through. Same with Laurie, Quentin... Ash.
I'm just kind of imagining the Entity waving it's spider, tentacle thing at Demo like a disappointed dog owner as Punishment.
Oh, yeah. Blinking *tears* her apart, as far as I understand. She and Wraith are the ones tied together the most, (Other than Kazan and Rin, being distant relatives) since they're the only two that operate in the "Spirit World", one of the realms within the Entity. It's why they can be lightburned. It makes me wonder if Wraith is in pain when Cloaked. Funny how the Spirit doesn't interact with the Spirit World at all.
Clown is kind of the same way. Honestly, even Legion's backstory is more boring to me than someone like Huntress, or Blight (who has the best lore in the game imo)
-
Well, as a killer main (or at least someone who plays killer more)... Bring what you want, play how you want. I bring DS, because in Solo Queue it seems like the tunneling get's way worse. I find that if you just don't be a shithead about having DS, most killers won't care.

Wow. This game gets worse and worse with how many times is fudges me over. I'd expect this game to but me dinner first before having me all over place.
Well, as with the OP, you may have been standing on it wrong. You can close the Hatch when closed. I know this because I main Wraith. You just have to be very specific with it. You can't be directly on top of it, you have to be slightly off center. Then, you can close it from any angle.
If you couldn't close it no matter what, it was a bug- Even more so if the Survivor's prompt overtook yours. Usually, Killer gets priority on the hatch prompt.

(Warning, phat walls of text with some spoilers, I labelled the biggest spoiler but if you dont want SH3 in particular spoiled don't read this)
It does seem very out of place, though I dont think they could have chosen a better SH killer or survivor! There was a thread on the forums talking about lore explanation wise, especially with Cheryl (PHAT SPOILER) being the vessel to carry Silent Hill's god. Even as a remnant after throwing it up, she still contains the heart of silent hill, its effects and power chasing her for the rest of her life. The final phone call before she appears in the fog is theorised to be a final message from Silent Hill! It's likely, in a lore sense, Cheryl was begrudgingly given up by SH to the Entity to put out feelers, as with its power SH is likely a multidimensional being/power in and of itself
SH certainly does have some influence in the realm, with Cheryl being the only survivor able to call upon the entity (repressed alliance).
Now, with the fact that the effects and remnants of SH have followed Cheryl, or Heather, her whole life. With this in mind, and SHs likely influence within the Entity's realm, one might argue that SH forcibly manifested Pyramid Head even after having served his purpose, roaming Silent Hill to perform violent acts, likely in anger or annoyance at Heather's defiance, seeing as, even though the Entity's realm is timeless, they were likely taken in after the events of SH3, seeing as PH would have no other reason to exist/manifest until after SH3.
(And yes, if he has a face, its James in some form, for sure)
Back on track, if SH instead manifested PH as it (likely being a multidimensional being) felt or saw the Entity's calling before it came, to put out more feelers, additionally, the punishment PH would exact within the realm would have a chance to fuel SH as a being or power. If we ever were to see more SH characters or even legendary skins this could be seen as SH sending out more and more influence into the realm.
I think the Entity assumes it has some control over PH, and likely does, being, probably, one of SH's more minor manifestations (based on his multiple iterations and appearances). But the limit of interaction it has is probably keeping it away from desires or violence, operating of SH's power.
Of course this whole idea in itself is absolutely ######### if the Entity has the ability to basically pull the plug on external influences and shut it off, though perhaps there would be weakness when it's looking for more survivors and/or killers in other dimensions.
(All of that aside, yes I'd love to see how the Entity interacts with all the different killers in punishment and reward, I want to know particularly his interactions with the demogorgon, being mostly a beast, and Evan (who originally heavily resisted aiding the entity).)
Admittedly, I don't know about Silent Hill 3 as much as I do SH2. I haven't even played any of them, regrettably, I haven't been super into the idea until recent years. And at first glance, the SH lore is a little... Bloated and confusing, but that's the case with a lot of games with a lot of lore and history. If the rumours of a Silent Hill 1 remake for PS5 are true, I'll have to make sure and get it (Even if I don't always think remakes are good for the industry.)
But, everything you said does make some sense considering the games' combined lore. I've always wondered why James wasn't the survivor instead (I mean, from a deal point it makes sense - They wanted something from the first three games. Midwich from SH1, PH from SH2 and Cheryl from SH3) but from a lore point, I think it's because James is kind of a bad person. And by kind of, I mean a really bad one. I mean, all of SH2 is about him coming into terms with what he's done, so...
I suppose another Head-Canon I have is that the Entity needs good people to be the Survivor's. It feeds off all the survivor's emotions, but the games put a focus on hope. Someone like James wouldn't have any hope left. A terrible person wouldn't have the emotions the Entity needs to feed.
Demogorgon is probably the biggest mystery to me, considering it just a beast, with somewhat of a hive mind with the Mind Flayer. I don't know how the Entity could possibly punish it when it's also there more than likely due to an agreement between two greater beings.
Evan isn't the only one who resisted at first. It's theorized that Wraith and Nurse did too, along with a few others probably. Wraith seemed to be a good man, and Nurse's blink sound is literally her screaming in pain from the blink, so I'm pretty sure they had to be tortured. You'd think Doc got tortured too, considering his appearance, but nope. Dude did that too himself, (far as I understand).
Compared to the rest of the Killer's, Doc is pretty... One dimensional.

Probably scrapped then, seems to be quite a common issue with the dev`s recently. They seem to say theyre looking into adding a bunch of stuff that would actually improve game health and never add it. For example and Estimated queue time would be legendary to know if its possible to play at off peak times. but shame was looking forward to this change.
I'm hoping not, but... I also wouldn't be surprised. These last few patches have... Really killed my faith in the decisions they devs make. Hopefully we'll be proven wrong, but I doubt it.
-
We don't know. Last QnA I submitted a question about it, a question that received the 2nd most amount of upvotes I believe, and they completely ignored it. So, I'm assuming it's nowhere near ready, or it's been scrapped.

PH was created through James' desire for punishment (I've also read hidden homoerotic tendencies, which explains a lot lmaoo) within the confines of SH. PHs only goal and desire is to lay out retribution, pain and punishment. It's his gut instinct.
Going off of this, one could imagine the Entity might deprive him of primal desires like violence and sexual release/frustration (which he exhibits a couple of times in SH2 cutscenes).
PH is mentally, probably more animal instinct than anything, so much like a dog, he could be conditioned to learn that survivors escaping is bad and he will he punished accordingly!!
It's hard to garner exactly where PH really stands. He's only there as kind of like... A mutual agreement with the Entity. That's the canon explanation for his ability to ignore the Entity's rules (his cages instead of hooks), similar to how Demo works. It's only there because it wants to be.
I'm kind of the opinion that Pyramid Head really shouldn't be there, as it has no purpose to exist because James has more than likely already been punished, which means that *probably...
The Pyramid Head('s) shown in SH2 have killed themselves. They served their purpose, James has realized his guilt. Pyramid Head is James' Id, it has no purpose to exist without him. I'm pretty sure that if Pyramid Head had a face, it'd be a twisted horrific version of James' face.
But back to the main point, he's only there as part of an agreement with the Entity and I don't think it can punish him.
"There was an unspoken agreement in that moment. The billowing cloud was an invitation to duty and sadism, and Pyramid Head, taking a step into The Fog, accepted his obligation once more."
I'd be really interested to see how the Entity interacts with the beings it can't control, like Mikey and PH. Does it just kind of... Begrudgingly keep them? Lore-Wise, they probably perform pretty well, but the Entity has been shown to like control, just by the existence of the game in general.
-
My personal head-canon is that the Entity tortures the Killer's in different ways if they don't perform well during the trials.
Killers like Wraith, Nurse, Trapper: Tortured physically, caused pain. Perhaps tortured mentally as well- The Nurse see's her patients, Trapper his Father, Wraith see's Azarov.
Killer's like Ghostface and The Legion however... I think Ghosty get's taunted, see's newspaper articles of his capture. He's (probably) extremely narcissistic, that would be far better torture than physical pain.
The Legion, whichever member failed the Entity, is kept from the group for a set amount of time.
The Blight is deprived of his fix, or just tortured.
Deathslinger is put back into jail, taunted by the men he hates from the outside.
Oni has to watch as the Samurai are dishonored, taunted and called "Oni Yamaoka".
But it also can't torture a few of them. Michael, Pyramid Head, Demo - just to name a few. It can't control any of them. Probably Fredster as well.
Pig *might* see Jigsaw, disappointed in her for ruining his game.
Just to name a few.
-
This is a player issue, not a game issue. Those kinds of people are going to be toxic, attention seeking PoS anyways, removing the mask wouldn't do a single thing. I get where your coming from, but I don't think taking away a hard earned cosmetic is the right way to go about this. The best we can do is report those people, not take something away because they exist. If those people just wanted to be toxic, they'd use Claudette's "apron" to do the exact same thing. Nothing would change- I'm not sure why you think removing a cosmetic would make these people stop.
And, simply put, I doubt BHVR will put their time towards things like this. They've got quite a bit on their hands right now.
-
Typically, I only "dodge" if my ping spikes outta nowhere to see if I can figure out why. If I lose, I don't really give a #########.

Yeah he was oni but be wouldn't waste his ability. But I stringed loops in a zigzag pattern from meat tree to shack to jungle gym back to meat tree to haybail to shack to jungle gym then haybail. Something like that. It lasted about over a minute
Any chase that lasts a minute over a good killer is very good. With a good enough team that could be most of the gens- it just seems like you got unlucky with someone dying early.
-
It definitely depends on what killer he was, but using pallets when your dead on hook is completely fine- at least in my book. It's your job to survive and waste the killers time when your being chased, which you did. At 4 gens a 1v3 is pretty often a loss anyways, so the best thing you could've done was waste the killers time.
So, while I don't know the whole story, which means I can't judge too accurately, nothing you said you did seems too bad. Stringing loops together is good!
-
Bet that killer had a fun and fair game!
God MMR, please work. Also - you're probably gonna want to censor those names.
-
Well, Clown doesn't get any debuffs from the Tonic currently, so... I doubt it. The Entity probably protects him from the debuffs, at least lore-wise. Gameplay wise, that'd make him pretty bad.

Hey you know i should have made this clear when you came here the first time and didn't know what you were talking about, but this conversation is for people who know what they're talking about. Now don't fret all you have to do is go watch the video to actually get the context.
Like obviously even in as something as stupid as this i expected white knights to come and defend the oh so fragile honor of this game, but i thought i would get off easily because surely the people that dedicate 1000s of hours to this game AND forum to defend it actually watch the dev updates. Im starting to think you guys don't even like the ######### game you just like this forum
Don't act all high and mighty. Your bitching about what is easily the most non impactful thing this update is beginning.
Near the end of the video, where they talk about T-Bagging, guess what. They're laughing. Why? Because they are JOKING. The guy even mentions "There was no animation to crouch, we wanted it to look better." Mentioning t-bagging at all was just a joke. A joke they should have avoided? Probably. You're the one that doesn't know what they're taking about.
I'm not defending the game. This is the first time I can admit the Dev's showing bias, but it boggles my mind how someone can complain about them making the game look better. Learn what a joke is and grow up.

@JimPickens666 said:

It wasn't a joke....because they specifically worked to make sure the transition between crouching and standing was fluid to t bag. I mean what did they do it ironically lol. At that point whats even the joke, that we still put up with their bullshit?
What were they supposed to do? Update every animation except standing from crouching, and vice versa? If they made the crouching and standing animations smoother only for people to T-Bag better, they wouldn't have put time into other animations. Tbagging is just an unfortunate side effect of multiplayer games that allow you to crouch.
It's fine to say the Dev's shouldn't have talked about t-bagging in a "satisfying" way but saying the only reason they updated animations is to make the game more toxic is just straight up fallacy.
-

Fair enough, I just saw it as more of a joke.

Yo, you got any OJ?

How is them updating survivor animations supporting toxicity? This update is definitely underwhelming but the animation update barely has anything to do with it.

Wraith main here. He'll be better, I guess. All it will really do is help him get closer on big open maps. Other than that, he's exactly the same. At least Survivors can't see me across the map now.

yeah, Wraith is quite disappointing in terms of Teachables.
actually, the 6 Points he scored were a combination of Bloodhound and Shadowborn being rated with 3 Points each, while Predator just ended up with 0 Points.
i could understand if anyone would want to move Bloodhound down by one though (into "only usable in certain combinations") - i just felt like the Perk itself isnt entirely useless / bad when run by itself, its just not a good perk either. Tracking wise there are many much better alternatives - but it does its job.
and if you're wondering, the 3 Points for Shadowborn are so low due to the downside of it making flashlight blinds from weird angles easier on you (Flashlights are based on the killers FoV, so increasing said FoV also increases the area survivors need to aim to in order to blind you).
Oppression, the only one of the Twins perks that even scored any points, only got away with a 3 Point ranking aswell, surprisingly enough.
I just feel like the Perks restrictions are way too high for what it actually does, the random selection of 3 gens and the lengthy cooldown in particular.
Its a Perk where i wouldnt have any trouble moving it up by one, if one of these downsides was reduced. For example, if it would affect every gen instead of 3 random generators it would easily get the 4 Points - currently however i feel like, especially due to the restrictions in place, it is very medicore.
That's fair, I suppose. Personally, Bloodhound isn't all that great. It basically needs Sloppy just for the Hemmorage it gives. While it can be a very accurate from of tracking, I prefer others. Nurses gives the exact location and has a similar prerequisite of them needing to be injured.
I actually didn't know that about Shadowborn.
I'm hoping with the next, next Mid-chapter when they focus on Twin's they'll actually make their perks more useful. IMO Oppression just needs a shorter cooldown and it'd be a pretty solid perk. Coup De Grace should be small, permanent increases and Hoarder is just a terrible perk. The only way it could be better is if it maybe slowed down the unlocking of chests too.
-
@jrinkwater said:
So being someone new to the game, how does it work with these guys? Do they just pick one map and release an update or is it both? And how soon would a mid-chapter patch be with some changes to the game?
Well, they did something similar last time, acting like it was a competition but then they just did both, so I'd say both are getting done. We never know, though. The mid-chapter PTB, which is like a test build rather than a full update, will probably come out on Tuesdays. BHVR likes to put their updates out on Tuesdays.
-
I'm honestly surprised Wraith isn't in D-Tier. I love Wraith, but his teachable aren't amazing. Now that I think about it, I suppose he's there for Shadowborn. Still, I'd say Oppression is far better than Bloodhound or Predator.

Think of the power as being flashbanged in cod. You could use it by a loop or trees to mess with someone.
As for the 2nd perk, would one percent be better?
And for the the springtrap question, I've seen a lot of those, so I wanted to come up with something original.
Ah, I see. It could work then, though I imagine a lot of people would complain.
The problem with Five Nights isn't exactly the stats, it's the movement speed increase. Movement speed perks are very rare just because of how much they can mess with the games balance. And, Fire Up already increases kicking speed by a larger margin.
Ah, makes sense.
-
Oh no
I have a feeling this post will garner a lot of negative feedback...
As for the actual ideas, the perks are neat (Though five nights would be a little op) but shriek of souls doesn't seem like it would be particularly effective.
Also, I don't know much about FNaF lore but wouldn't Springtrap be better considering he's the villain or something along those lines?
-
- Depends on what he has. A lot of them have very strong perks, Meg and Laurie for example. Probably the best to start off with... Meg or Claudette. Meg has Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, and Quick and Quiet which are all solid perks. Caudette can heal herself, which a lot of newer players like.
- The basic lore is a bit harder to explain, but I'll be as brief as possible. The Entity steals the Killers and The Survivor's to play games for it, so that it can feed. Each 'game' is called a trial, and each survivor sacrificed is more food for the entity. The Survivor's have no memory of the previous trials (as far as I know) that they've been in. Death doesn't mean anything - if you escape or die, you wake up at the campfire. Some of the killers have been tortured to perform for the Entity, like Nurse and Wraith, and some like their job. Ghostface and Legion are good examples.
- Good killers typically have either good map mobility - Billy, Oni, Nurse, Blight - Or good chase potential. Nurse, Blight, Spirit. The bad ones don't have much of either. Some of them have very good chase potential, Clown and Doctor are good examples, but no mobility. Some of them, like Trapper and sometimes Wraith, have neither.
- Whatever he likes. Some survivor's are quieter and smaller than others (Ace is very quiet while someone like Steve is very loud) but the choice of a survivor doesn't matter as much as the choice of killer.
For a killer specific tip, I'd tell him to start with a killer like Wraith or Legion. They're both M1 killers and will teach him the basics of chase potential faster than someone like Deathslinger or Huntress. Have him watch guides on how to loop effectively, which loops he can mindgame or which ones he should just hold W on.
As Survivor, tell him to always be vigilant. The last thing you want is a Bubba sneaking up on you. Learn how to loop, don't camp or pre-throw pallets if you can avoid it. Learn how to chain loops together, which ones are safe, which ones aren't.
Speaking of Bubba, if he plays a lot of killer, tell him to get Leatherface. BBQ & Chili is one of the only ways to even slightly combat the heavy grind this game has.
-
I mean, if we're being super technical, the Entity is obviously inspired by cosmic horror. Tentacles, the whole formless thing, drives people insane... It ticks a lot of the boxes. And most of Lovecraft's creatures aren't really... Slasher-ish monsters. They're ancient, formless, mind-bending creatures with unspeakable intelligence. They aren't good or bad, they're just greater. Humanity is nothing more than ants, more or less. The Entity at least needs humanity for food. Hell, most of Lovecraft's creatures probably wouldn't even care about the Entity.

-
Aesthetically? Oni by far. He's the best looking killer in the game imo. Blight is a close second.
Everything else wise, Wraith. I love him so much, idc if he's weak. Oni and Blight are tied for second place (Sorry Ghosty)

Not really. I like Michael objectively, but tier 1 holds him back. I like the stalking mechanic on him, and just how intimidating he can be when played well. I think buffs to Tier 1 and T3 is all that needs to be done (Major to T1 and minor to T3)

Now that i think about it i think you are right about blight and myers. As for wraith i put him in D teir because he is very addon dependent and could use some changes. Im just not a fan of legion but i do understand that he can be a threat.
Oh no, I'm not questioning your placement of Wraith. He's probably the most add-on dependent killer in the game, besides Trapper.
Nobody really likes Legion, but his ability to keep everyone injured is unparalleled. Maybe only challenged by Plague.
