  • I think you and @TheClownIsKing are gonna like each other...

As for how I, someone who doesn't main Clown, feel about it...

Eh. I probably still won't play him that much. I can't think of anywhere where the Antidote is going to incredibly useful. It barely gives you any saved time when using to travel. In chases, his Tonic will always be more useful.

Again, I'm not a Clown main. If you had questions about Wraith, I'm your man.

  • Why the hell did I get a notification that I was mentioned in this post? Don't tell me the DbD forums are breaking too. Edit: Oh wait nevermind I see it now. Yeah, I still firmly believe that. People just don't care about the other sides. The Killers/Survivors are a instrument for their fun, who cares if your opponents also have fun?

On topic.. ouch. I've never understood people who play this game like that. DbD is not some esports game. Even if you do play for tournaments, you've gotta realize not everyone wants to play like that, right? You'd think they would've known better. It's a video game ffs, some people just want to have fun.

All you can really do is ignore it. People are gonna be dumbasses if they're gonna be dumbasses. People complain when you play with meta perks and meta killers and people complain when you play "destroy all pallets" Wraith. Just play what you want, you don't have to justify yourself.

I think it's less about the devs but the people in charge of BHVR.

    At least i hope so

Adding on to this (which I 100% believe the higher ups are responsible for a lot of the decisions made. Not all of them, but a lot.)

They spent money and resources on the new HUD and movement. I'm not saying I like them, they look terrible, but BHVR is at a loss here no matter what they do.

Revert the changes, they just wasted time and resources.

Keep the changes, face constant complaining and battering.

This whole situation is a lose-lose for BHVR, (probably) spurred on by the people above the Devs.

You made your post while I was writing mine so I didn't see it.

Nah, I'm just joking with you. Glad to see I'm not the only one who appreciates Wraith.

  • @Cancan71 said:

Lol I just made a post about this. I'm surprised no one was talking about this when I looked at the forum. Guess everyone is complaining about the UI and didn't notice this.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of the UI either, but I love Wraith like a son.

Any buff he get's fills me with that sweet, sweet serotonin.

  • Just thought I share with everyone, as no one made a post about these changes yet.

    Oh.

    :(

  • Kind of what I thought Blight would've been from his first little teaser. Looks good so far, I'm excited to see where it goes! A werewolf killer is a killer I would really like to see, second only to a Knight, or some Medieval type killer. Oni is the only one so far and I want more.

  • What a giga-brain.

    I salute you, good GoobyNugget.

My game also jumps around a lot and lags all over the place. I checked my wifi connection and it says I have full bars. My other games (like Minecraft where I play with other people) do not do that. Is that the same issue (I.e. frame rate)?

Yes. DbD is just terribly optimized on consoles. Like... very bad. BHVR seems to want to ignore the issues players on the PS4 and Xbox One face, no matter how many times they've said they're trying to optimize it they never have. All we can do is hope that they will indeed optimize it soon.

  • It depends on what you enjoy. Oni is really fun. His power boils down to "Hillbilly but stronger with a few more steps." Perk's aren't too great though,

Blight is one of the best killer's they ever released. He's fun, strong but counterable. His perks are middle of the road, especially with Undying getting nerfed.

Ghostface is arguably the best stealth killer in the game. He can instadown and his stealth doesn't limit him the way Pig's and Wraith's does, but he doesn't have Wraith's speed or Pig's inherent slowdown. He's also very buggy.

Doctor is better than he used to be, but he still suffers from a lack of mobility.

Demo is middle of the road. He's fun, but not terribly strong. And his perks suck.

Deathslinger has an incredibly powerful chase, and that's it. He's slow, has no mobility or pressure, but his chase in insane. His perks are also kind of hot garbage.

The Twin's are... The Twins. They're unique, but have a heavy slug and camp heavy playstyle. Their perks are meh.

Plague is also just Plague. Like the Twins, she's very unique. She can feel strong, but lacks any mobility. Her perks are all around pretty good, though.

And for survivors, that'll be something you'll want to look more into. Basically most of the Survivor's meta perks were already released by the time Legion came out. Unbreakable, DS, DH, Sprint Burst. Cheryl has some decent perks.

  • I don't play a ton of horror games, so I'm not too informed.

But the Silent Hill theme is genuinely fantastic.

  • The next chapter will certainly be important. After A Binding of Kin leaving the most forgettable Killer since Plague, and the Halloween Event being a mess, it needs to be good. Will the game die if it has another less than stellar chapter? No, probably not, but I expect it'll take a hit and lose some long time players. New players will keep coming, especially if the next chapter is licensed.

As for everything you listed, in terms of maps, I'm pretty sure they mentioned somewhere that Hawkins wasn't going to get looked at. I can't remember where, though. It's still a somewhat new map, all things considered. I'f I'm wrong, (or if I'm right) I'd appreciate anybody pointing that out.

The DS and OoO changes are WIP, and might be changed again but the time the Chapter comes out. We don't know.

The Killer is also a complete mystery. If it's original, we'll probably get a teaser somewhat soon, and if it's licensed we'll have to wait a little bit. But, something to note, is they often release Licensed Killers with the anniversary update, which is the chapter cycle after this next one.

As for addressing even more perks... I don't know how many of them will be changed in worthwhile ways, but they seem to save changing all the perks for Mid-Chapters.

  • I'd agree if Ruin wasn't a Hex Totem.

But seeing as it is a totem, it's countered completely by bad RNG. Undying was 100% the problem as it removed some of the risk with running a Hex.

If we're following this logic, Devour Hope is the most broken perk in the game.

  • If the survivor is close enough to the window, it is intentional. The killers can hit through windows and over small barriers (like some fences) but only if the Survivor is very close.

So, if you're getting hit as you're still close to the window then it is intentional and they don't need to "fix it."

But if your far away from the window, it is a hit validation/dedicated server problem and should be fixed, yes.

  • My main issue with Pennywise is it's basically the same thing as the Entity, just an a lesser scale. They feed on emotions. Pennywise on fear, and the Entity, like... All of them.

I also have no idea how his power would work.

Yeah, that's a big oversight on my part. But I'd be satisfied if it had anything to do with cosmic horror in general, if they pulled one of those squid things straight from the Archives and let me play it as a killer I'd be happy. Or maybe even have an Entity cultist that can summon Entity claws like in Endgame Collapse. Or even some disfigured killer from/on the brink of going to The Void. There's a lot of things they have in the lore already, they need only to give them shapes in the game.

The Entity itself is Cosmic Horror enough for me, but I definitely wouldn't mind more obvious nods to the eldritch. With the release of Blight, they seem to be going with very lore heavy original killers, so I'd be genuinely surprised if we don't eventually get an entity cult killer, seeing as how we already have a couple anti-Entity group survivors

That's the thing, it doesn't have to be some space god or formless being. Monsters like Gug or Wilber Whatley or even Deep Ones were Lovecrafts true specialty. His most terrifying monsters were weak and timid, the true horror coming from the implication of their existence not their physical strength or ability to warp the cosmos.

That's fair. I've always found the best horror in the existentialism the larger creatures bring. Good old squid-face. Especially Azazoth.

There's also the unique issue with Lovecraft's works being Public Domain, and just how many people have contributed to the Mythos. I'm not exactly sure how they would incorporate a public domain chapter.

  • It's hard to say. In itself, the Entity is a being of cosmic eldritch horror. Being a formless, timeless being... If ticks a lot of the checkmarks.

The problem with having a Lovecraftian chapter is none of them are really... Run of the mill monsters. A lot of the named creatures are literal gods, gigantic and without form. Lovecraftian Mythos just doesn't really fit the bill that much. It'd be like trying to make a chapter based on Uzumaki.

That being said, a Nightgaunt would still be cool.

And I'm still hoping for a sea themed killer. Like a corrupted sailor, some form of pirate.

  • Not sure if this counts as niche, but Lightborn. Going for the hillbilly adept (which I still haven't gotten rip) and obviously that includes lightborn.

Just happened to go against a team full of flashlights. Survivors don't like it apparently when you don't give a ######### about flashlights.

  • The only thing that can happen there (I believe) is Haunted Grounds. It spawns two trap totems. If one is cleansed, the other is turned dull.

I've been addicted to it lately, it's like a nasty itch.

I completely hate the game at times, and some other times i love it and i'm having fun.

That's DbD for you. It's either trash, or amazing.

  • This game has basically been ported to everything. Even Stadia.

Apparently hackers are on the rise. I haven't seen any, but again, I haven't been playing the game all that much lately. At this point I'm just waiting for the new chapter so I can be interested in this game again.

I hadn't seen one until now!! Reported him of course, cause it's just nasty.

He had the crossplay circle besides his name, but i don't know if you can cheat on consoles so i assume he was from the Gamepass thing on PC.

Cross-play also appears if the player is from the Windows store, so that'd be my guess. I don't know if this is true but I've heard the Window's Store version doesn't even have EAC. I don't think you can hack on console, but I'm not super tech savvy with that kinda stuff.

The problems with the DS nerf that I can already predict. Teammate heals you immediately after being unhooked. Disabled while killer comes back.

It's been confirmed getting healed by a teammate won't deactivate it. The perk is only deactivated by things the unhooked person chooses to do.

  • GAS GAS GAS STEP ON THE GAS

On a serious note, all you can do is report them. Maybe it's because I haven't been playing lately, but am I the only one that hasn't seen a single hacker?

  • No.

The game is still going strong despite what you say.

  • I mean I mentioned this in my last post but it's because the biased parts of this community lack empathy for the other side.

Biased killer mains treat all survivors like their evil and treat playing killer like a chore. The mere existence of SWF means the terrible, terrible Solo Queue problems don't matter. Playing Survivor is easy!

Then the biased survivor mains treat killers like they're all literally murderous sociopaths. All killers are OP or boring. They have the opposite problem, they see the (valid) problem with Solo Queue and their only answer is "Nerf every killer and their perks, thereby literally ruining one whole sides fun).

Both Undying and DS needed changes. OoO REALLY needed changes.

But the biased parts of this forum are really starting to throw around the term "dEvS aRe BiAsEd!!1!1!1!" Even though two huge meta perks on both sides were nerfed.

  • I'm just taking that DbD break until they add something interesting. The Twins' nor Clowns update just haven't done it for me.

But, I'd probably stop taking so many breaks if the Devs didn't rely so heavily on stats.

For wraith I have see lots of sympathy as well. This thread is probably the first time I have ever seen anyone say trapper/hillbilly weren't just evil to be honest.

For legions backstory it's hard for me to not view it through my countries legal system. A Canadian jury would not hesitate to punish Frank and Joey, Suzie would likely be brought in as a witness and Julie would only face punishment if she refused to roll on Frank.

Also thanks for not immediately jumping down my throat with insults like I normally experience with this topic. It was nice for a change.

I'm just a pretty big fan of DbD's lore. It's probably the most exceptional part of the game imo. It's fantastic (most of the time. I find Hag's lore to be meh).

I try not to view put the fictional characters of the game into a real life jury system, otherwise it'd be all over the place. Wraith would certainly be charged with Manslaughter nowadays, then just the straight up murder of Azarov. It's hard to say in a realistic way, as a lot of the killers are literal magical beings.

And no problem! This is just a videogame after all, I don't like jumping down peoples throats (though I've unfortunately certainly done it.)

You're right, I am being a little salty on this. It's just extremely annoying to see the frequency of this as it reinforces the whole no agency for women hyper agency for men. It's not fair to anyone and I'd like to see devs break out of these stereotypes more often.

Still tho, you won't see near as much sympathy for trapper or Billy that you will for the legion girls and it feels like the core story really wants you to feel that they are doing it due to Frank's control.

I just want to have a really cool psychopath that's a women. A character where there is no argument and is a good old fashioned monster for us to play as.

Instead it's pick your flavor of victim/debatable victim....

I can see your grievances (I actually do see a lot of sympathy for Wraith and Trapper).

I'm unsure about Joey, but I think he's the most hesitant if cosmetics are to be believed, but I can't remember.

I feel like for the most part, DbD has made every killer at least slightly understandable. Most of them were systematically abused for a long period of time, all in various ways. Frank is a foster kid who had a long, hard life. His most recent foster father was an alcoholic who never paid attention to him.

Even Kazan (Oni) THINKS he's doing the right thing. I mean, he's still a murderer and 100% in the wrong, but he thinks he's right.

That leaves only Doc, Ghostie, and Clown, but he never really had parents so he's somewhat debateable.

I'd say that ONLY Doc and Ghostface fit this stereotype. That's pretty damn little for a game about murders.

  • @rats00 said:

    The list is easy.

Are they an original character by Behavior and are male? They are evil.

Are they an original character by Behavior and are female? They are innocent victims.

Its a trend I was really, really hoping they would stop and then they didn't.

I mean, yes, most of the original female killers are innocent, other than Huntress and Halfway Charlotte.

But plenty of the male original killers are just as much victims.

Wraith did nothing wrong. Probably tortured by The Entity.

Trapper was tortured by the Entity and probably had an abusive, manipulative father.

Hillbilly was abused literally most of his life.

Blight was driven mad by the Entity.

None of them are "evil", they were forced into their current situation by either their parents or the Entity.

The only killers that fit this stereotype you see is Oni, Doc, and Clown. Ghostface too, but he's the weird half licensed cousin.

And I'd say Julie and Suzie are still pretty damn evil. Julie leaned hard into Frank's way of life.

  • Legion is middle of the road. They by far have the easiest time injuring and some game stall with mending.

But they also don't have any (worthwhile) way of downing with their power. The only way to buff that part of him is to completely rework him.

But since they probably won't do that, I'd get rid of the stun if you miss his power, and get rid of basic attacks just deleting some of your power gauge for some reason.

And, as for why Freddy can hit awake survivors, he used to not be able to, and was regularly considered the worst killer in the game.

  • I think by far the most guilty killers are Doc, Oni, and Ghostie (if we're counting him). I mean... He's literally a serial killer.

Innocent, Wraith's up there. My bing bong boi went through a lot of #########. Plague is also up there, as is Spirit.

I’d rather see something new and unique like Springtrap added to the game than the 80th “man with knife” that we’ve seen countless times.

As long as the killer is unique, has a cool power, and is healthy for the game; I really couldn’t care less. Just as long as it’s not a rehashed slasher villain concept

    cough Legion cough

I can agree with that. By looks alone, Springtrap would be unique. Couldn't say anything about his power, if he was added they could easily just make him "Insert Killer Here 2.0" always of the opinion that I'd prefer more original unique killers, as I almost always prefer the original killers. I feel like in lore and aesthetic, they're leagues above the licensed killers.

Then again, I don't have close ties to characters like Myers and Bubba, so I'd guess a lot of people would disagree.

  • Overwatch and Its F2P Ripoff, Paladins. I was really into Hero Shooters for awhile.

  • I'll be honest, I in particular don't really want Springtrap in the game. While the subject matter is dark, I don't feel he fits the aesthetic of the game. But hey, you aren't being obnoxious about it, so I'm also gonna respect your opinion.

As for the perks, they seem cool. I really like the idea of Paranoia. It would be niche but also hella fun.

  • Need to fix her before we nerf her, but for the most part, I can agree. She ignores everything a survivor can do. I still enjoy going against her more than Freddy.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1909994#Comment_1909994

I'm sorry but i don't buy that excuse.

They could easily just ask the community for their ideas on how to change some perks and look and test what would be the best/easiest change.

Or maybe they could use their fogwhisperers for more than just marketing and try to involve them in their balancing.

They need to realize that balancing needs the company AND the community.

Like come on,they really needed 1,5 years to realize that Fixated should also work when injured?Sorry but that's just pathetic.

I don't buy it either, I just think it's the most likely reason they take so long to balance things. BHVR has a problem with not talking to their community very often, and a problem with taking a very long time to fix things.

  • @FrostySeal said:

Yeah, the lack of empathy in this community just creates an extremely toxic place.

I've seen soooo many people who just play one side and could care less about the other side. I've seen killer mains who think every single survivor is a toxic scumbag who will use all the meta perks and tryhard, likewise I've also seen survivors who think every killer tunnels and camps.

I also agree with you on the whole no matter what BHVR does they're going to get a lot of complaints about it. I don't think they're perfect beings who could never do any wrong but with how this community is BHVR could buff 40 mediocre/bad perks and nerf like, 2 meta perks on survivor or nerf a killer and the community would say "BHVR has a bias against X side!"

Its seriously annoying and saddening to see. If people would just play the other side and acknowledge the problems with their own side the community would be a much, much better place.

    Exactly.

It irritates me when because Solo Queue has problems, a persons first response is "make one whole side of this game have less fun by nerfing every single killer and killer perk imaginable."

Or, like I already said, when people act like every SWF is a death squad who comes in there wanting to bully and t-bag, when most of the time they're just friends trying to have fun.

People don't care about the other side, because with them it's always "sUrViVoR bAd, KiLlEr GoOd" or vice versa. It's like those people don't realize that there are people on that side that play this game for fun. Or they just don't care.

  • @vacaman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1909919#Comment_1909919

I unironically think that this might be the problem, they shouldn't listen to the community because we don't even know what we want, the only thing we really want for the game is to be fun and balanced (and maybe not even that). We don't really know what is going to make it better and we are highly biased because we usually play one side more than the other, plus the people that make noise are a very small portion of the playerbase. They should use their data to balance the game and listen to some suggestions for inspiration. And do a lot more changes, they are sooo slow and feels like they are too scared to do big changes and more frequently.

Well, I already mentioned it in another post, but the reason they barely balance is that they're making too much new content. They are constantly working on new killers, on new perks, on new maps. They just don't have time to balance.

  • Whenever this happens as killer, I always just sigh. I always end up farming, or playing the game normally and just letting them all live. This ######### ruins matches.

  • @vacaman said:

Blaming a community for a game doing bad is not really smart. Every single online multiplayer game has communities with similar people playing them and they also have a lot of toxicity and bitching about game stuff. But at the end of the day it's the game's company that decides what is done and what isn't, and this community bitching more than others is not what is holding the game back, it's their incompetence for not improving the game the way they should. Just compare to other game companies with similar size (600 employees) and you'd be embarassed with the little they do.

We can't make any changes, Behaviour does. So it's entirely their fault what holds the game back. Just look for example how well they handled No Man's Sky sky disaster. They were probably one of the most hated game companies out there and they still managed to make a comeback.

I also feel like it's 'not really smart' to assume the community doesn't do anything for a game. The community is the driving force behind balance changes, behind the entire game. Without the community, there is no game. Yes, every game has bitching, but this game really has an issue because of the inherent "Us vs Them" of an asymmetrical game.

So yeah, BHVR makes the changes, but they make the changes in regards to the community. Ruin was changed because it only impacted the low ranks of the community,

The only reason No Man's Sky was changed because of people. If nobody complained, I doubt it would've been changed.

  • I tend to trap at safe pallets but only if they're not near anything else. Or, I will just pretend like I'm trapping more commonly. Against bad survivors, they tend to immediately run away when you start to trap, which can result in a hit on the right circumstances.

  • "They're trying to kill you!" They protested,

With how thirsty the DbD community is, and names like "Mori me Daddy Myers" I think that's what people like.

On topic, I feel like Plague must've been beautiful before the whole plague thing happened. Ghostface seems like he'd be a pretty handsome dude under that mask, with how up his own ass he is.

But come on, we all know the truth here.

    Clown.

Yes, they do work too slowly for a millionaire company. I've seen early access games more stable and polished than dead by daylight has been in 4.5 years.

With the bias going around the average playerbase, the devs should take feedback from high skilled unbiased players. They are experts at the game and seems like they know the game better than bhvr.

I feel a huge reason for them working so slowly is they're always making new content. The balance and coding team are probably nearly always dedicated to the new chapters, and probably the next few chapters after that. They need to space out new content and balance, but they never will. Not unless something happens.

It'd be a start. I feel like Scott and Otz know this game more intimately than the Devs ever will.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The disappointment is justified. Undying allowed ruin to stay longer than 20-30 seconds which also balanced the generator speeds. Shortly after release it's nerfed. Meanwhile it took bhvr a year to give trapper few QoL buffs and a miniscule change to Wraith that doesn't fix his issues. The clown buff is such a small buff and the tonic is not used for getting around the map, it's used as a budget agitation or bloodlust.

You can see how severe the changes are on undying compared to the small buffs on really weak killers in the next patch.

I'm not saying the disappointment is unjustified. Personally, I feel like Clown's rework is the worst they've ever done. And I never really cared about Undying, because I knew it was gonna get nerfed from day one. I feel the nerf was a bit too extreme, but again - that's not what I'm talking about. I'm just talking about the rampant, blatant bias that's so common pretty much everywhere the game is talked about. Bias holds balance back.

The disappointment is definitely justified. But as a basis, I don't feel BHVR is Survivor or Killer biased, I think they just work too goddamn slow.

  • Ya'll out here talking about brown toolboxes, when the real culprit is green maps.

I mean, without add-ons, it shows you where one generator is! And it can be used for a whole twenty seconds!

    Wake up, sheeple.

  • They're just trying to get their exercise in! Leave them alone!

    /s

  • You're not. I play Ghostie a lot, it's broken on both ends.

I've been stared at by a survivor a few feet away and revealed by someone while I'm completely behind things. Or, the classic "killer instinct not showing the person that revealed me"

1 … 37 38 39 40 41 … 57
