You must have a pro or something. My basic PS4 cannot simply handle the pinball boi
You just need to restart dbd and the frame rate gets better

I’m a red rank survivor and killer. Trust me, I’ve heard it all before. And I’ve already replied in this thread with arguments against what you’ve just said, so I’m not saying it again.
if you've heard it all before, then why are you here? I thought you were asking for help to enjoy the game and/or counter face camping.
Is it just a goodbye letter? Ok, goodbye then! Don't be so angsty though :)

Killers are really jus complaining about SWF matches whenever you hear someone saying, “Survivor Sided!” When we make that differentiation, acknowledging that the game isn’t at all “Solo sided,” then real discussions regarding change can be brought to the table and a solution will be discovered.
The devs should kno this, and I’m sure that they do... after all, they didn’t only create this game, they also play it every day, jus like us.
SWF has caused killers to complain frequently, as well as it has caused them to alter their play style to try an combat a team perked with coms who are ALL on the same page at all times throughout the match.
If this means, tunneling, camping, slugging, ebony’s, iri’s, OP builds & addons, etc., then that’s what they’re willing to do.
They feel threatened and bullied by SWFs jus like all of we who choose to main Solo, at times, feel bullied by killers who have their anti-SWF build/ mindset on as they go into the trial prepared for a squad of relentless com’d up dominance.
Solo has gotten less fun as devs have nerfed perks that helped a team of randoms out of tough matches.
I wish killers (especially mains) would realize, jus like I and many others have, that Solo survivors also got heavily setback from the inclusion of SWF into DBD.
Devs have to find a way to benefit an balance the game for all 3 parties... SWF, Solo & Killer.
I trust that they’ll do jus that, eventually.
I really do have faith in them.
also I completely agree with you. swf and merciless killers go hand in hand, but there's just no solution to this.
We will never have separate queues, and we'll never have a "swf" icon on the pre-lobby screen so... everybody will just assume the worst.

I don’t expect people to care as I haven’t been on this forum for a long time, but I’m still going to post my thoughts.
I’ve played this game for a long time, on both sides. I have bought every single DLC chapter and have spent way more money on cosmetics than I’d like to admit, but recently I just don’t have fun and it’s because of the people I’m forced to play with or against. I was so excited for Felix and the graphics update but 90% of the matches I’ve had since the update have been with killers that either face camp or tunnel. I expect to see this once in a while but not almost every single match. Maybe I’m being extremely unlucky with whatever server I’m being put on, but I’m having a terrible time and I’m finding myself getting annoyed which is something I don’t want any game to do to me. So it’s time to bow out.
It is sad as I truly do love this game and the hard work put into cosmetics etc but I just can’t cope with the absolute shitfest that is the player base. It’s not as bad for a killer, but I didn’t buy or invest in this game to only play one role.
Also, it’s not always me being face camped, in fact, it’s rarely me. But being in those matches still drags me down as it’s no fun having to just sit on generators whilst your team are camped at the hook. Where is the fun? This game is called Dead By Daylight, not generator simulator.
Hopefully the rest of you are having better matches and maybe I will return but I can’t see it being anytime soon. I’m completely drained by constantly going against people who’s sole goal is to make people have a terrible time.
Daisy,
👋🏻 💚
camping and tunnelling are the two most effective tactics to kill a (single) survivor.
Especially at low ranks, this translates to multiple kills, since survivors don't know where gens are / don't work on them for reasons / try to do crazy saves without BT.
At high ranks this is slightly different, since you won't see face camping, but proxy camping, which is much more deadly. Problem is that proxy camping and tunnelling at high ranks are a by-product of swf teams and/or gen rushing → killers get conditioned to be awful, like slug even at 5 gens, because one mistake can lead to a total loss.
With this in mind, since you are talking about face camping I have to assume you are low to mid rank.
Now, there are two ways for you to have fun and counter these killers in low to mid rank: play swf with even a single team mate that has BT, or git gud and use a build that basically makes you self sufficient: borrowed time, decisive strike, unbreakable, deliverance - you make sure you are not the first one to be hooked, then you go for a save even against a face camper, and then you are golden.
...or play Civilization 5.

Hex: Undying still reveals Survivors near remaining totems:
"While Hex: Undying is active, Survivors within 2 metres of any Totem have their Aura revealed for 4/5/6 seconds."
So you may still want to get rid of that. Might not be worth risking another Haunted Grounds, but I don't agree that "there's no reason to cleanse".
I agree. I think the aura reading of Undying is strongly undervalued - a lot of totems are near loops like T-L walls, where reading the aura of a survivor can really change the outcome of a chase. It's very situational of course, but a power that I really love nevertheless.

@GodDamn_Angela said:
Restart it? Like how often? Because I'd rather deal with it instead of having to restart every 10 games or so.
10 games is a lot - from my experience so far the game needs a restart after ≈ 5 games - and no, you can't deal with it if you are playing killer, especially certain killers.
For example, the game will basically freeze for half a second every time you hit a wall as the Blight, and the most awful things happened to me trying to stalk as Myers as well.
I know it's just an annoying band aid, but if you play killer it's just a must.
As a survivor... who cares.

If what happens??
I cannot watch the video (network error because I do not allow Twitch scripts)
the clip simply shows the stuttering in the menu before the restart, and how the stutters are completely gone after that.
This is the direct link if you want: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/736379412

also, I'm talking about console but I think the same problem is present for PC players, at least, that's what I saw from @ScottJund "15 Blight games in a row" video (very nice Scott btw :P)

So, the Q&A was yesterday. What did you guys/gals think about the answer we got?
@Nobsyde @bm33 @Ryuzaki @JPLongstreet @Pulsar
I got the feeling that they are just hoping the issues to fix themselves as they upgrade the graphics. But we didn't get any answer to the problems with killer powers (doc, demo), status effects or the quite new maps with most problems (lery's, hawkings). All in all they answered very shortly to the question and didn't go into much detail.
How has the FPS been for you after the patch?
I have only played survivor but there's been the same problems with stutters and fps drops.
Edit. Also interested to hear what @SnakeSound222 @The__High_Ground @MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky think.
obviously I'm not satisfied by the answer, since the dev basically said "on the forums we read console players are finding the new maps much better frame rate wise, so everything's good!".
While this is the new map's performance:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/736257521This being said - it is true that performance improved with this patch (not in the new maps though, in general), but only for the first couple of games, then we need to restart it in order to get decent frame rate again. I've sent a support ticket about this, we'll see if they notice it.
-
Undying is certainly very, very good, and I think it will induce a great spike in Soul Guards players (and consequent flames for both the perks)
-
It's "strange" enough that at first I thought it was a bug, but it seems to be better fps wise (console) than the previous iteration, so I appreciate it.
-
for the record I think this is very similar in behaviour to my report (with attached video):
@Nobsyde said:
Platform: PS4
Description: as the killer, you are unable to move whatever you do under a hook
Steps to reproduce: (it's only a guess)
- have a survivor hooked (in the basement)
- have another survivor unhooking them
- grab (and fail to grab) the unhooker
- enjoy the show
How often does it occur: this scenario happened to me only once (the fail grab) since the patch, but it's possibly consistent?
VIDEO PROOF:
so: try to grab (and fail) → get stuck
-
-
a proof that game gets better after a restart:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/736379412look at the difference when I hover over perks before and after a restart.
(and yes, the game after this restart was much better than the Myers one)
-
I gotta repost this here because I think it's relevant:
I think there's some (more) memory leaks or some other things like processes never getting disabled, because I've found that framerate gets worse and worse the more games I play.
For example, this was Yamaoka with the Blight. In certain loops the framerate was the worst thing I have ever experienced
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/736257521I mean, the worst until I played this game as Myers (and trust me, watch it until the end):
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/736259930after the Myers game I decided to restart the game and I played with the Huntress - fps seemed much, much better! I don't even know if and how to report this issue though, at this point.
This is all on PS4

Stuttering is unbearable when playing the blight on Hawkins. EVERY time you use the power, there are huge stutters after hitting a wall. (PS4)
-
It's not just hooks btw - every action that involve the use of that button (don't remember the name sorry) is affected: hooking, breaking pallets, vaulting windows, kicking gens, opening lockers.
I think it revolves around your approach angle and/or if you are moving while trying to perform the action

BASE PS4 - apparently people on ps4 pro are having a good time though.

do you play killer?
Because I absolutely disagree with this statement.
The only thing that got better is the menu.

I uploaded a very similar one just today, with two games played one after the others: one against a full swf team (4 blendettes with Object of Obsession), the other vs a Solo team.

That wasnt the case before? And surge is already only 32m limited, like tf? Why making it even weaker? the notifcatino bubble and sound effect of an explosion should ALWAYS appear no matter how close you are.
I always noticed the same behaviour, if that's what you're asking.
I'm not saying it's not a bug, I'm just saying I don't see any "shadow nerf", since it's like this from the start.

as far as I know, you don't get the notification bubble if you are in a range where you can actually hear the generator exploding. You get the notification bubble only when you are far enough from them.

I mean - there's the screenshot buddy, them not improving something doesn't mean they aren't trying to work on it?
watch the date of the screenshot.
It's from TWO YEARS AGO. The "December" in the tweet was December 2018. We are in 2020, in case you forgot.
Probably what happened is that they were extremely sure to have pinpoint what the problem was, they updated the engine and switched to an event system but... surprise surprise, the fps gains were just not there (well, there was a slight improvement during 2019 to be honest)
In the meanwhile, though, new killers, new effects, new maps and new cosmetics came along, and we went back to square 1 (actually, to square minus 2, since we not only lost every optimisation from 2019, but the game just runs worse than before that time)

I seriously understand the frustration you guys have but as they said, they brought it to the teams attention. You are venting at the wrong person.
the venting right now escalated because our thread got closed and there was a last post that stated that (and I quote literally):
the topic is now being locked and further threads created will be deleted.
Apparently this is currently not true (since we are here talking), but this is the reason why we all got so upset. Before that we all were in our little cage, rightfully and respectfully complaining about the console situation, posting everyday new proofs of what is our daily struggle - whoever was being too rude and/or promoted toxic behaviour like review bombing was promptly reprimanded by the posters themselves (and anyway mods have the tools to stop the people going over the limit, there was no need to close the thread altogether).
That should summarise it.

@BeardedMenace said:
I understand we're getting multiple updates for graphics. I'm speaking of current gen to next gen. Their announcement says "game will have improved graphics over current gen versions" does that mean it'll have better graphics than the graphic updates we're already getting? If so, why? Nobody plays this game for graphics.
the "graphic update" the new consoles will get will most probably be simply higher resolution textures and possibly more granular shader effects, but maps will 100% be the same on all platforms.
And I'm not being a Nostradamus, it's just that if cross-play is here to stay (and I have no reason to believe otherwise), the games need to be 100% compatible on all platforms.
Maybe (but that's a biiiiiiig maybe) some models will have an increased number of polygon, but I would be extremely surprised by that.

I think what our friend is trying to say is that there are many places that people complain about known problems, many of which will never be resolved (DS, NOED, gen speeds, etc). The thread seems to have often been some people talking about an issue in one contained place. While bumping isn't productive, there was some productive discussion for those people about the frustrations experienced. It might seem whiny, but it isn't much different than many other threads on many other topics.
that's exactly right.
in fact, as soon as the thread was closed there has been an overwhelming amount of new topics talking about console problems and/or asking why the original was closed.
Was it worth it? Was it helpful for the clarity of the board? Is it easier for the mods to moderate a number of threads instead of a single one? And, most of all, was this a good de-escalation tactic?
Hell, if the problem was the bumping they could have pinned the post, instead of the umpteenth "design your own perk!" one ;)
I'll let you all decide by yourselves.

I'm not gonna read that entire thread, that's just ridiculous. On the first page alone, however, I see one person calling the devs liars, another calling them idiots, four bumps, and a few accusations of "devs don't care". That's the kind of stuff that gets threads locked, and it's the kind of stuff I'd like to avoid.
cool.
Instead what I see, in the first page alone, are 21 (twentyone) console players struggling with frame rate, with the vast majority of them being constructive and helpful.
Anyway, thank you for your feedback, we'll let you know how much your approach help us out.

What I want is for people to describe their issues without insulting the devs or breaking other rules so that threads like this don't get closed because of some users saying stuff like "devs bad, lul" while everyone else justifies/accepts/excuses that behavior.
Additionally, I want people to be honest about the devs' history instead of calling them liars all the time and saying they never follow through with anything.
Finally, I want people to stop conflating "feedback" with "commands that the devs must follow no matter what". You'll (using a generic "you", I don't mean you specifically) have more realistic expectations when you understand the relationship between developer and customer, which will help prevent needless disillusionment.
Oh ok.
Well, let me introduce myself.
I'm the thread starter of the topic that was closed.
I've read every reply that was there - that's barring the ones the mods deleted before anybody could read them.
I'm telling you, that topic was absolute heaven, compared to every other topic in the board.
If you don't believe me, go and read it. All of it, of course. It's here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/179630/bhvr-can-we-acknowledge-fps-on-console-is-awful-since-4-1-0/p1
I'm telling you this because I never saw your nickname in that thread, so I suspect, but I might be wrong, that you have no idea what you are talking about. We'll be waiting here when you finished reading it.
Sincerely,
a concerned console player
-
@MandyTalk I'm not gonna argue with you about if and how the thread was or was not overall a good environment (especially compared to all the other threads in this board), I will reply though to this, which is important:
In a working environment do you want to read pages of bumps which amounts to spam, as well as the posts that offered nothing constructive to a thread but were just there to insult/bash the developers - or would you rather read a thread that contained the relevant information that you needed to do your job?
I assume you are not talking about yourself when you speak about "working environment", but about the Tech Team, trying to get information from the topic.
Now, obviously I don't expect the tech team to actively read a thread of 30+ pages (actually, not even a thread of 2+ pages) - they should already have got all the information they needed in the first few replies, and if they needed more they just needed to ask.
The thread function at that point was to be a container for all the updates on console optimisation, if they ever had to come, and a watchdog for these changes to happen.
There were two very, very effective way to make the thread be extremely pacific:
1- have a community manager say "IT'S TRUE, fps degraded and WE ARE WORKING ON IT. It is a PRIORITY. Expect an update in -insert timeframe-" (the only thing we got was "letting you know we forwarded this thread to the tech team". That's totally different)
2- ...just fix the console frame rate already :)
Again, I have absolutely nothing against you, I know you have little to no power on the matter, I just wanted to clarify this.
-
@Orion , I don't understand what you want, honestly.
Do you know how pathetic the current situation on console is?
If yes, do you know since when we are in this spot?
If yes... really, what do you want?
-
also let's talk about the "bump replies".
I posted a video about Nurse on Console, where I explicitly talk about frame rate. It got deleted because it was "a bump" (with no warning btw, not personally, not publicly)
Of course if you delete any legit reply then you delete "19 replies in 20 minutes".
when all you have is a hammer (delete button), all problems (replies) are a nail (spam).
-
@Mandy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187746/the-way-console-players-are-treated-is-insane
I totally understand your frustration, I really do and the thread was closed not because of the genuine comments that were on it. The thread was closed because of the Developer bashing that was happening on it, posts which we deleted as well as the irrelevant bumps which added nothing to the thread and were basically spam at that point. Then even after a warning was put on that thread it continued and people got warned for their comments and the thread was closed. Nobody is trying to censor Console Players. Check out my posts on this very forum where I've closed threads down which were set up to pit Console against PC - it's not something I approve of and it's not something BHVR approves of. We promote inclusivity totally.
The fact of the matter is, I can't answer the questions about optimisation all I can do is to say again it is something that we've brought to the teams attention - but I do not have any further word on it than that.
Just for the record, this is absolutely untrue.
There were bumps here and there, yes, but they weren't there to increase the post count, but to have the thread visible, and anyway for every bump there were plenty of in topic posts.
As for the dev bashing, I honestly don't know what you are talking about, but I will copy here the harshest thing I said in that thread (why "me"? because I was the thread starter and I tried to set the right tone in the thread for everybody):
when I first opened this thread I understood why they weren't answering: the tech team needed to take a look at how things degraded, understand what was wrong and then take action.
Now things are different, and I would say alarming:
enough time has passed for the tech team to at the very least realise that yes, something is wrong, and yes, they can (and need to) work on fixing it.
However, there hasn't yet been any update on the matter by the community management team. When Community Managers don't give updates on things like this is because there are no updates, simple as that. And if there are no updates it means that, as of right now, the tech team is not working on fixing things.
They are allegedly working on optimising the graphical update, which is a good thing of course, but it's far from enough - even admitting that the two new maps will have better performance than the older ones (and that's a veeeeery long stretch, but who knows), it doesn't change the fact that we will still be screwed on every other situation.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!!
Don't forget that the maps where we struggle the most are maps like Larry's, Hawkins or the Silent Hill one, especially with killers like Oni, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Demogorgon, the Doctor...
What's the common denominator here? They are all NEW CONTENT, and there's no way that these maps/killers will get a rework/optimisation pass before all the older killers/maps get a graphical update / killer power rework.
In other words, I'm extremely pessimistic right now.
Now, this was the kind of bashing that was happening in the thread. The vast majority of the people in the thread tried their hardest to be constructive and to actively discourage any form of retaliation: no name dropping, no metacritic bombing, no stupid lawsuits...
maybe somebody did talk about these things, but the thread, as a whole, would always self moderate.
The harshest comments came after YOU threatened us - and you will see that even after that we still were positive and discouraged everyone to endure a (I quote) game of attrition.
This being said, of course if the only answer the console community gets after 2 weeks of silence (the PatBrutal response, which wasn't a real acknowledgement anyway, let's be clear about this), it is expected that someone gets pissed off: fine, ban them, warn them, do whatever you want, but if you close a thread that was, let's be honest, the only mature thread in this board, you are doing this because you don't want the topic to be heard.
It's not because of a "bump" or a "devs suck".
I don't blame you @MandyTalk , because I really think you are just a piece in a chess board, moved by someone else. I refuse to believe that you, by your self accordance, go ahead and issue a censorship act on Console Issues. That would really be pathetic.
Anyway, do whatever you want, the board is yours, but at least be sincere, don't be a liar. Thank you.

Stopping new DLCs is unrealistic and won't do anything.
What they need to do is to form a team that only deals with optimization .Similiar to the team they have that works on the graphic update for all the maps.
I might be mistaken, but I'm almost sure that a looooong time ago they already announced there is a separate team for optimisation.

Well metacritic bombing was discussed briefly on the original thread but we stopped because we didn't want to give them a valid reason to lock the thread. Turns out valid reasons weren't necessary anyway.
Bumping a friendly & productive discussion on game health = very bad
15 threads on the front page at all times where we all scream at each other about ds, noed, and maining the wrong side = actually very good
yeah, if anything this is the main thing that upsets me.
Not the fact that Mods/Devs aren't responding.
Not the fact that they not only closed the thread, but black listed the topic "console framerate" from the forum (don't worry, this topic will get closed/silenced by the end of the day).
Not the fact that the only dramah inside the thread was caused by their answers or lack thereof.
But the fact that the thread was astoundingly respectful, overall "in-topic" and exceptionally self-moderated, for example our discouraging the promotion of review bombing that you just mentioned. If the problem was a couple of people "bumping" without real reason the thread (spoiler alert: until the frame rate issue is solved, there always will be a good reason to have the topic in the front page), they could have banned these users.
Instead they just didn't care about the entirety of the console community and closed a wonderful thread (...and banned the culprits anyway, because at that point why not).
But I'll be patient. Next tuesday we'll see how far patience can go, though.
EDIT: I'll make some tests to measure how fps have changed when the new patch comes out, which will be summarised in a video
If anybody wants to help with the performance tests contact me on discord: Nobsyde#3391
(I'm specifically looking for Xbox, Xbox X, PS4 Pro and Switch users)

I’m not surprised about what happened, BHVR needs to make money and obviously that thread wasn’t helping.
sometimes we might think this board is a “free” place, but it is not, it’s owned by BHVR and it serves the purpose they decide, I wouldn’t be surprised if mods closed it just because someone higher in BHVR was getting pissed.
anyway, doesn’t matter, patch is right around the corner, and when it comes out you better believe there will be a thread talking about how it is on console - because THAT will be a totally different topic.

(I updated the first post by adding the warning by @MandyTalk , and asking everybody to comply. I'm sure she will be patient enough to not close the topic out of the blue but leave it open for discussion, especially considering the new patch is almost here)
