Defending gens is fundamental to a killer completing their objective. That's why killers have a basekit ability to cause gen regression and a dozen or so perks to cause gen regression or notify them when gens are being worked on.

Again, we're talking about "playing normally". Killers defending a 3 gen from the start and not taking chases unless it was completely safe to do so was decided to be not playing normally. The opposite should be true as well. Survivors avoiding their objective until they have absolute certainty they can do so safe from being hooked shouldn't be considered playing normally either. Both sides should be expected to take a risk.

i honestly don't have issues with new 3 gen changes but all this is true, they also said those changes wouldn't affect normal gameplay. turns out it does, survivors are free to not care about creating a potential 3 gen themselves anymore.

if it wasn't all 3 remaining gens cluttered together in a corner of the map and instead well-spread, taking a chase wouldn't be much of a throw since you wouldn't be leaving all 3 gens free to work on, without you around unless survivors have comms and perfect info which gen they should be doing at all times.

Let's say a killer who didn't want to look for the others opened the door. Survivors also go there to escape from the open door. If the killer's special abilities or perks are not insta-down or the survivor is not injured, he will escape guaranteed. You can think of it like hatch standoffs, but only if you can insta-down. Does it make sense for a killer who does not want to look for someone else to provide an escape opportunity directly and give 2 escapes? If we want the update to be on the killers' side, the opposite will happen. I think it's more logical that if you don't do gen for a certain period of time, a crow will come to your head.

why would a killer that cares about killing the last survivor open the gate? opening the gate would basically be saying "i can't bother with this just leave"; if the killer wants to kill survivors that bad they can take their time and look for them. they can MAKE THE DECISION themselves.

you are trying to argue this would be worse than current hatch which might give the chance of both not wasting your own time and getting to kill all survivors but it is still an rng free undeserved escape that's out of killer's agency which also causes lots of other issues that makes it not worth at all.

The ability to open doors can encourage the game to door camp (after all, there's an open door, why wouldn't they just walk out). If only killer can open doors, they will force them to do so. What you're trying to say is that if survivors can also open doors, it's even worse. And unless the guy in front of you is injured and your stats or perks don't help insta-down, there's a ridiculously high chance they'll run away. Instead, if a gen is not finished for a certain period of time, an end-game collapse begins and they must advance any gen by a certain percentage and the hatch will spawn in a closed manner...Or just crows circling overhead and giving you sound notifications.

improved afk crows would be a nice implementation against this situation as well.

though what i meant was, killers would have the choice to open gates not survivors. if they wish not to they won't and look for the hiding survivor for as long as they would like, it's up to them. survivors still wouldn't be able to open the gates before doing gens unless killer chooses to open one, then the survivor(s) can open the other.

Never needed a nerf??? The perk was simply busted for a long time.

they only needed to disable it near hooks and done, perk didn't need anything else. if you get hit by an m1, you just got hit against an m1 killer and that's a skill issue.

  • it really feels it's bugged because it doesn't make sense, if i didn't know how perk worked i never could've guessed it recharges in a chase because it doesn't match its main purpose: avoiding killer. none of other terror radius perks won't recharge in a chase also, pebble and stake out.

  • map offerings are what need to not be a thing anymore.

  • they are ridiculously irresponsive to complaints regarding game balance so maybe, maybe not i don't really know.

And what if the person underneath the pallet also has power struggle?

Complete BS combo lol. Pick them up ASAP and get background player'd, or let them get a free escape due to power struggle. Incredible.

power struggle duos don't need bgp for it to be bs honestly. hover around for a few seconds and the slugged person is completely fine.

  • if they are under a pallet no, you should slug. if they have a flashlight they need to keep a bit closer and if they do you can get a hit or swap to chasing them instead (yes slugging again). but more often than not people die near objects or in closed areas or the rescuer will run a bit too far and you'll be able to pick without them being able to save with fl.

thank you for this, i'm very glad. not only wiretap that can be used to deny pop too

  • i spam vaulted and didn't leave until the last second of egc against a pinkie finger camping clown, and i bled out a survivor that wouldn't leave ormond main and clicked their flashlight from up there every time i went there; i tunneled their teammate JUST to make sure that creature doesn't win. in another match on garden i camped every single hook and ofc proceeded to tunnel after realizing anyone i see would just w key to main.

everyone here is arguing the legitimate reasons for slugging, if it's (or should be) bannable and whatnot but i just want to remind everyone that if you annoy a player, you'll have to deal with an annoyed player, be that a teammate going next or a toxic opponent. i don't want to victim-blame so i'm obviously excluding people that act like d***s just to be d***s, but if you are treated in a way constantly, think a bit more critically. call it luck but the worst thing killers do to me is hitting on hook.

there should be a "go next" option if left on the ground for a set amount of time but hatch needs to go first for that.

A t-bag is the same as forcing a survivor to stay in a lost match for 4 minutes? Survivors have that power by pushing their crouch button?

they have a 2 minute version.

Now, I made the terrible mistake of not getting that achievement before the EGC was introduced, and back then it was already situational. But after EGC it became way more difficult to do.

It took me several tries with different builds, maps and strategies.

Until I played against a Huntress on Midwich and voilà:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/GEGM4KCIEZCL/image.png

    Achievement unlocked.

i used sole survivor poised adrenaline and wake up. didn't even need to throw the match luckily it just happened, i think on my first try too. idc what anyone else says those very niche, weird and hard achievements and challenges are so much fun because they get you to get out of your way and play very differently.

  • idk why so many people pointed out where you were resetting, does it make the no cooldown power okay all of a sudden? there are killers that will punish you harder for being in a dead zone sure but non existent cooldowns are never healthy.

because they need to trade (because other survivors slacked off/didn't play macro correctly, not killer's fault) or just want to farm the unhook; they b-line to the hook after getting hit from distance

Okay, that's a different circumstance than the idea of chasing them around half the map. Trade is different than bodyblocking, if you hit a survivor and they used the speed burst to get to the unhook, you should be able to force a trade.

idk why i feel like i'm talking about such a rare occurance here, do you guys actually never play killer to see at least the most common things happen when playing it or what?

Then run around the guy going for the block. Or swing through him. Or count to ten.

Going back to your OP, none of these are 'free hits'. You have multiple counterplay options that can engage in (not to mention that specific killers have even more). Some are better than others depending on the situation, but that's how the game (and pretty much all games) works.

ds by itself also is commonly used as a body blocking tool but i'm mainly talking about being quite safe and sound while you are abusing a basekit anti tunneling/camping mechanic when you have the perk.

    How is it 'abusing'?

As survivor you are accepting a consequence/risk for some type of strategic return.

Okay, that's a different circumstance than the idea of chasing them around half the map.

um, no? please tell me what i should do if i chase someone 40 meters away from hook and they run to the direction of the hook and eventually to the hook itself.

Then run around the guy going for the block.

this is not always an option.

    Or swing through him.

    ??

    Or count to ten.

and survivor will kindly wait for the timer to run out so i can down them. noted.

As survivor you are accepting a consequence/risk for some type of strategic return.

this what all my post is about. with buffed ds there won't be much of a risk factor for doing those "strategic" plays.

the survivor you chased halfway across the map brought you to hook or they tried to save a second after you hooked the person, what you do?

If you've been chasing the survivor that long, how is it that you can't force a trade?

edit: also ds also is an anti tunnel perk :)

He didn't say that OTR was the only anti-tunnel perk, only that it was the one that met the conditions you specified (where a survivor can body block for others).

because they need to trade (because other survivors slacked off/didn't play macro correctly, not killer's fault) or just want to farm the unhook; they b-line to the hook after getting hit from distance. idk why i feel like i'm talking about such a rare occurance here, do you guys actually never play killer to see at least the most common things happen when playing it or what?

BT is absolutely an anti-tunneling perk. You can tell this by the way it has not impact on camping but does have an impact on tunneling. OTR is not the only anti-tunneling perk. Did you forget about DS? BT is not "hard countered" by not going back to the hook. If you're chasing a survivor near and they go near the hook it would be dumb to just walk away. When they unhook the survivor right in front of you and the unhooked survivor bodyblocks do you think the killer should just leave?

The whole reason these perks got reworks in the first place was due to survivors who complained that they needed them every game to deal with tunneling using them offensively.

tunneling, camping this and that all the same excuses for their demands. people bringing up tunneling as their justification for ftp buckle up nowadays also, there is no ending to it and some people don't realize if something is problematic it's problematic. of course changes needed and need to be done but you can't come at people that say those helping mechanics shouldn't be abusable and should be improved.

BT is absolutely an anti-tunneling perk.

with all fairness, bt is both an anti tunnel and anti camp mechanic; they oftentimes go hand in hand anyway.

It would be a pretty easy solution for both sides and I would like to see that too. Although, if this were to happen in end game as well, then there is absolutely no way for an killer to stop that survivor from escaping. Which means, they'll be more inclined to camp that survivor.

OTR could actually increase your movement speed (maybe 5-7%) with the same conditions as the endurance effect.

in end game i think it shouldn't be gone since survivors don't have any other off-hook protection anymore.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3640411#Comment_3640411

    I already did.

First of all, your 'anti tunnel perks' that fall into this category is exactly and only one perk, and it's OTR.

Second of all, if you want to avoid anti tunnel perks (OTR) used for body blocking, try pressuring the rest of the map. Since you specifically called it out in your op, BT is absolutely hard countered by not going immediately back to hook the instant you get the notification. So is OTR. Interesting that that's entirely within the killer's ability to avoid.

This is why I said specifically in my first post, if you're getting hit with borrowed time in this case, you really should be asking yourself what the other survivors are doing (it's gens). In that case, you're completely ignoring two people on gens to make sure you are back at hook instantly (within 10 seconds) and complaining that you didn't count to ten first. That's 100% on you.

And if all the gens are done, guess what, OTR is disabled! So in that case you're actually struggling with counting to ten. Literally.

If people actually understood map pressure, there would be far, far less (nearly zero) instances of active body blocking.

did you even read my reply? because it literally says:

bt bodyblocks don't happen only in camping scenarios, the survivor being chased can simply decide to run to hook or just farm the hooked survivor.

the survivor you chased halfway across the map brought you to hook or they tried to save a second after you hooked the person, what you do? those are survivor mistakes not me camping. does bt disable in those situations? like you talked a bunch of stuff yeah camping map pressure but i still face hittanking when i'm not camping at all. "weaponizing", "abusing" "misusing" idk how else i have to explain.

edit: also ds also is an anti tunnel perk :)

  • @WolfyWood said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3640356#Comment_3640356

They'd have to increase the haste and fix unhooking animation to be more fluid.

As it stands the endurance bodyblock is the only thing that stops camping and forcing hook trades. If it was removed how would you even stop basement camps?

i'd agree that unhook animation shouldn't take years if some changes were to made about bt; but if you have to trade you will trade, current bt doesn't help with that.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

BT is not, was not, and has never been 'anti-tunnel', it's strictly an anti camping perk and mechanic.

It's only purpose is to prevent killers from being rewarded by camping the hook with a literally free down the instant someone is unhooked. That's why it only lasts a short time and you can literally bypass it by counting to ten. That's not even remotely a tunneling deterrent.

The counter to BT has always been 'don't be at the hook and actually apply map pressure'. So basically, don't camp.

does it matter whether it is called anti camp or tunnel? bt bodyblocks don't happen only in camping scenarios, the survivor being chased can simply decide to run to hook or just farm the hooked survivor.

also i said bt and the actual anti tunnel perks, which definitely don't last only 10 seconds. do you have a few things to say about those?

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

I'd remove collision, personally. Not a huge issue now, but if DS gets buffed, it may become one.

As it is now, if someone BT bodyblocks me, I just tunnel them out. Every single time.

it IS going to be because there won't be any repercussions for doing it anymore. even if the killer slugs after downing (which requires the equal amount of effort as downing a healthy person) that's still big perk value.

    @WolfyWood said:

Well first of all there's no such thing as a "free hit."

The only time that's applicable is under niche circumstances like Adrenaline baiting.

Endurance hits still have a steep cost to them. Not only do you have to stop any conspicuous action to mend. But you're also still injured afterwards.

Bodyblocking is also challenging for both sides to pull off unless its a building or chokepoint. So I don't think any changes are needed personally.

how is bt bodyblocking challenging unless the hook was in a complete dead zone? they only need to do it for a few seconds and both survivors are safe.

i'm sorry but i won't even explain why an endurance hit is nothing compared to a health state, hence "free".

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

I said this million times. BT need to be reworked. Keep haste effect and rework the other effect. Now survivor will lose collision. So killer can't bodyblock the survivor, so survivor have more chance to make it to safe loop. And also survivor can't bodyblock the killer for save their teammate.

But i know this won't happen and probably it will end some survivor nerfs.

10 seconds of no collision and hitbox instead of endurance would be a good start, and mostly enough to be fair.

  • they shouldn't always stay in my opinion so they won't split playerbase. they should however be available for custom matches and come back in rotations (when more modes release) at weekends.

These are awful ideas and changes as they only serve to punish solo-queue further. SWF will hold that last gen at 99% to make plays, while in solo-queue, they have no idea if you're running the perk. You can't even rely on them to make a save once.

The only acceptable nerf is waking up against Freddy.

and its bugged interaction with deli's broken effect. it doesn't need anything else.

  • 36 meters isn't close by any means unless you are playing with a blendette that starts fading away the second they hear TR. i don't think it only affects the highlighted gen and if so, not a completely trash perk anymore, would pair well with bond.

  • changes to yet another m1 killer perk, adrenaline and i think the only killers not in need of changes except for doc, twins and maybe hag. nothing about ftp buckle up, off-hook hittanking with upcoming ds buff or map offerings. doesn't look promising if i'm gonna be honest.

idk how "newly released" 4 lanes are but i really hate new weird tiles introduced with the most recent maps. nostromo feels like it only has strengthened 4 lanes, long wall with the pallet on the wrong side and short wall but with a really short wall and that's it. the rest are some pallets and windows sprinkled around that are supposed to form jungle gyms.

The most OP Perk killers are complaining is WoO, a perk which shows you the aura of pallets and windows 🤣

Or Deja Vu, minus 5 seconds on a generator. Gamebreaking!

Lithe now beeing often considered S tier. I remember it in the past when content creators called it a weak A or B+ tier perk. Note that it has not been touched.

On the other hand, look at the killer perks. BBQ for example is still the same and it was even without the Bloodpoints considered one of the very best killer perks in the past. Now it is B tier. Not because its weaker but rather because it got overshadowed by so many other even stronger perks.

If you really think killer perks are the ones who are suffering, i dont know what else we can tell you. It is factually wrong.

i tried my hardest to make it obvious i was being sarcastic.

  • i'd understand the "unique" part but how is camping or getting camped in basement fun again?

basement shouldn't even exist or if it's going to, anti face camp meter should fill at full speed in the basement itself and the entrance should be considered the center of it. there is no gameplay or skill expression about basement if especially some certain killers decide to play around it.

  • not much you can do against a tunneling killer, even if you are a part of a swf that plays macro perfectly; it essentially comes down to the target's looping skills and if that's lacking game is lost. others just need to not lose a single second and slam gens in the meantime.

Just played a game as Pig where that exact thing happened. 18602 BPs for a 4k... I guess what I'm getting at... What does one do when they realize it's NOT Seal team 6 they're playing against but rather baby survivors who somehow hit P42? Do I "accidentally" let them wiggle off and then completely lose sight of them in the imaginary grass? I don't want to send the message that I wanna farm but, let's be real... NO ONE had fun this match.

against babies or "bully squads" some matches open opportunities to end way too quickly. i'll just take a bad chase so they can recover. after a 4 man slug i also dislike letting them wiggle and recover because it instantly turns into a farm match, so i'll let loose before that point.

    • so you don't know? again? can you not do this on guesses? you jump, the killer switches to you, good job.

not saving someone on the hook is griefing? damn... the playerbase is gonna go down real quick when people start reporting that.

    on the general topic.

I'm not required to save you. if you decide you got this yourself, don't be surprised if I believe you.

it IS griefing, like huh? if you are that petty and decide to let me go 2nd, i'll not only go 2nd but also go next, no problem.

i said they have the perks OR might have them; also it's not that big of a deal so even, yes, a suspicion is more than enough of a reason for me to attempt. ofc that suspicion isn't "they might have one of the 384573845 killer perks in the game" but more if they play like they have it (believe it or not but it's very easy to call devour or floods) or i've been notified of undying and didn't see any other hex perk yet.

i have enough experience to tell how much distance allows what so i'll decide on that. if the killer is too close, attempting would make the rescuer panic and trade even when unnecessary. attempting and succeeding when the killer isn't that close but coming would save the rescuer a hit they would otherwise take because unhooking animation takes forever. i'll also be fine jumping off that hook with the killer nearby because someone is getting in chase and a hit regardless and that better be me with bt.

  • op's point is if solely focusing objective isn't frowned upon for survivor side, it also shouldn't be for killers. it's not about feelings of gens lmao it's just people trying to win so the equivalence here is not the "tunnel" target and its feelings whatsoever, it's what you almost need to do in order to win. you skip heals and anything else most of the time as survivor for gens and you get your kills asap as killer. personally i just wish tunneling wasn't needed in majority of matches (and possible) to win and the game was balanced around that but, yeah. you just know you hamper yourself by not tunneling for absolutely no reason; you lose the game as killer and think to yourself "i would've won this if i made the correct decisions" and that honestly sucks.

  • idk what all the nerd stuff going on here is but it's almost a factual statement that this game is swf sided if they are above a certain skill level and then killer sided; any opinion stating otherwise should be disregarded.
