I've been accused of hacking for using Knock Out. It's funny how slow survivors' brains move whenever they can't see the aura of the downed person. I love Knock Out for that fact alone (but I genuinely love the perk)
-
Otz got hit with that a couple days ago. This is really stupid

In a way, yes, but i don't think directly. From the survivor side, holding m1 for 80 seconds is boring. The fun part of this game is the chase. What they should do is some combination of:
- Add a secondary objective, like having to find a specific missing part for a generator to repair it
- Increase the amount of gens on the map and that survivors need to repair by like a lot, 2-4 more gens.
- Decrease actual holding m1 on gen speeds to 40-60 seconds each.
- Add a stricter penalty for multiple survivors working a gen.
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
At this point, I don't care who or what you are, marry me
-
This is my dream rework for the RBT:
When a generator is completed, or if the RBT was attached after the exit gates have been powered, the RBT will activate, starting its 3 minute timer. Survivors searching Jigsaw boxes slowly become injured as they interact with the box. Every time an additional generator is completed, the timer for the RBT is reduced by 45 seconds. Any survivor can search a Jigsaw box at any time. There are 6 boxes around the map.
Jigsaw boxes are no longer RNG, but rather they require you to interact with it for a set duration. After the interaction is complete, the survivor gets a Jigsaw key and are afflicted with the Broken status effect for a time. Survivors with a key can remove a RBT from themselves or another survivor. Removing a RBT takes 10 seconds, and includes 2 mildly difficult skill checks if removing a RBT from yourself (about 1.5x the size of DS skill checks). Failing a skill check will shatter the key.
Empty boxes do not reveal their auras
-
Seriously? I have no life outside of DBD, TF2, and content creators, and I'm still on a 1:1 ratio for days left in Rift to tiers I've completed. Imagine people with jobs, school, families, emergencies, people who are traveling for the holidays. Dunno man. You kinda seem like an ######### in this situation (not saying you are, but that you come off as one)

I appreciate you spelling out the math! Everyone should read this post. One thing you left out though: how would you go about solving this equation?
personally, I would reduce the attack cooldown (nerf STBFL in the process), then increase gen times or give survivors something they must do BEFORE generators, something to give the Killer time to get the ball rolling. Like this guy said, simply holding W, not using any pallets, basically guarantees 3 gens pop by the first hook, so the survivors would still have tons of resources

The problem is that the game actually is survivor sided when you look at tournaments and top level play. If it wasn't, then nurse wouldn't be the only viable killer. The math itself doesn't add up. Let's look at what a perfectly efficient team does.
Facts:
- Gens take 80 seconds each.
- Survivors move at 4.0 m/s
- Killers (most) move at 4.6 m/s
- Killers (most) have a 32 meter terror radius.
- Killer lunge range is 6 meters (generally you wait until 4-5 meters for dead hard, and to not get spun etc.)
- A survivor moves at 6.0 m/s for 3 seconds after getting hit.
The scenario:
- Match starts, every survivor splits up onto different gens.
- Killer runs to opposite side of the map (where survivors likely spawn)
- Crossing the maps takes 15-20 seconds depending on the map and killer.
- Assuming you instantly find a survivor in that time (which can be rare) this takes about 15 seconds.
- Lets pretend for a minute, the survivor doesn't use windows, or pallets, or anything, and they just hold w, as soon as they see the killer.
- As soon as the killer terror radius at 32 meters, survivor looks around for the killer. Human reaction time can be around .25 seconds, but let's say you have to look around to find which direction the killer is coming from and it takes 3 seconds. The killer is now 32 - (4.6 x 3), or 18.2 meters away.
- You now know where the killer is coming from, and hold w in the opposite direction.
- Killer needs to get within 4 meters of you to lunge. The killer gains .6 meters per second. Getting within 4.5 meters takes 22.8 seconds (i'll even round down for you)
- It is now 15 + 22 = 37 seconds for the first hit (remember no pallets, or windows, or anything, just holding w).
- Killer is able to gain 1 meter while cleaning their weapon for 3 seconds. The survivor uses their speed boost to move 18 meters, which means the killer is 17 meters away.
- It takes the killer another 20.8 seconds to get within 4.5 meters to lunge. Again, i'll even round down for you.
- This is now a down in 15 + 22 + 20 = 57 seconds.
- It takes 3 seconds to pick up the survivor, and another 10-15 seconds to walk to a hook, and it takes 1.5 seconds to hook the survivor. This time is 3 + 10 + 1.5 = 14.5 seconds (again i'll even round down and say 14 seconds)
- The first hook now took 15 + 22 + 20 + 14 = 71 seconds.
- Gen times are 80 seconds.
- During this time the other 3 survivors work on a generator, you now lose 3 generators
- Rinse and repeat, but now you have 1 survivor on a gen and another rescuing and healing, so it is a bit slower, but you still lost 3 gens.
Keep in mind. This ignores pallets. It ignores perks. It ignores windows. It ignores looping. This is literally just holding w for as long as possible. If a team plays efficiently, and hits the gens hard like they should, a killer can never win. The only exception to this, is killers who can shorten that chase window, like nurse, spirit, huntress (arguable), deathslinger, etc. Because you can't hold w against them. Now when you factor in pallets, windows, looping, etc. This basically means nurse and spirit are really the only viable killers at top level play.
Now, you might say "well you should get the first hit, then go find another survivor on a gen". And you are right, this is generally optimal. But now imagine that scenario i mentioned, where you do that. It took you 15 + 22 seconds, to find the first survivor and hit them once. It takes a survivor 16 seconds to heal. Now all they do is heal, and start hitting a gen and the scenario repeats itself. Now you can maybe do this only once or twice depending on your medkit. But by the time your team runs out, you easily could complete multiple generators.
This is the problem with the game. When survivors play perfectly, a killer can't win. A killer has to win by survivors making mistakes. There isn't a way for a killer to truly win a game against an efficient team if they play perfectly.
Yes, yes, yes, so much yes. This is why gen times need to be drastically increased.

I use lithe. I've also been at rank 1 on both sides, maining nurse, for three years. Just because a perk isn't that good doesn't mean good players won't use it.
Never said that. There are exceptions to pretty much anything. It's just that most good players use Dead Hard, most REALLY good players use Sprint Burst, and the rest are left in the dust

Slugging is not scummy or annoying. It's literally just an alternate hook. No idea how people get upset over it.
To OP, I completely agree. Slugging is kind of a necessity nowadays just because how much time you waste hooking people. Hell, Pop doesn't even buy you time. It literally just makes up for the amount of time you spent hooking someone in the first place. 25% of a gen is the same time it takes to hook someone and get to a gen. That is crazy, that is absolutely nuts.
People who say it's scummy or people who slug just want to play like ######### are delusional. Survivors cut corners to do gens, Killers cut corners to apply pressure. Literally no different than refusing to heal to slam out a gen.
@meatisadelicacy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/212788/slugging-is-necessary-blame-the-game
It's not necessary.
You can play how you want. It just sucks for survivors who wait minimum five minutes to get a game on a good day and then they're slugged at five gens. I personally like playing the game. But for some people the other thing that matters is getting a 4k, even if that means it's boring for everyone else. Don't blame the devs or the game for the choice you make.
And it sucks for Killers when they just want a chill match and chase some survivors, have a little fun, and 3 gens pop, game is halfway over, midway through the first chase. "DoN't BlAmE tHe DeVs FoR tHe ChOiCe YoU mAkE"
@th3 said:
Translation: I play like an ######### but be mad at the game and not me.

Seriously, SLUGGING IS NOT SCUMMY! If it bothers you that much, bring Unbreakable+Soul Guard or just run No Mither. Slugging is a necessity in the game at the current moment. If I had my way, gens would take twice as long but slugging becomes 10x weaker.
@Withered8 said:
I'm fine with slugging one or two people in situations to gain pressure etc, the problem i have is when people start abusing slugging and get 4man slugs and slug someone near a hook in order to proxy the hooked survivor.
I think people need to be more clear about these two very different types of slugging, because one is tactical whilst the other is just downright scummy.
...You do realize you can crawl away, right? Also, if 1 person is dying in ~4 minutes and the other is gonna die in ~2, someone is going to have to come get them. Only a moron leaves the hook in that situation.
@VexTheHex said:
I only dislike slugging when the Killer is obviously winning and they use it to end the match quicker with less interaction. I've played against some Nurses that just chain slugs and end the match with everyone barely getting anything.
I spare people often by leaving them slugged. If Meg just got unhooked and I ended up downing her again and am winning my match, I'll leave her on the ground to apply pressure elsewhere and give her a better match to be a part of.
I'm personally not upset with it and feel it can be left as is. Or make Unbreakable have more than 1 use. I wouldn't do unlimited though.
If the Killer is obviously winning, the only time I would slug is if people are just unhooking, then hiding, getting caught, unhooking, hiding, etc. Like, I get it. Bloodpoints. But come on. The game is over. ~1000 BP isn't worth an extra 3 minutes of our time

Eh. They are very rare, and barely anyone uses them. If you go into that room, that's kind of on you. If the Killer traps you in a corner and doesn't let you leave, that's on them. Assuming at least 1 other survivor is alive, the Killer can't really take the game hostage by locking you in a small space. If you ARE the last one alive, just DC and report.
I've actually had a game where I was playing Wraith and all I was doing was freaking people out when they completed a gen and then couldn't move cuz I was body blocking them while invis. I would typically hold them until the EGC timer went to about 33%, depending on how far the doors were. I love freaking people out with that, but then I let them go to show I mean no harm. I had multiple people just straight up DC whenever the EGC timer starts lmao.
But I digress. You will rarely have this issue, and if you do and you're not the last survivor, just take it like a champ
-
Here's how I take it:
Jumping jacks on hook: "I'm being camped, stay the hell away"
90%ing the escape attempt so you are grabbing the hook for like 2 seconds at a time, then letting go: Either "I'm bored" or "Come get me, he's long gone"

I suspect all of that is probably correct. I'm hoping one of the gasses causing exhaustion or he gets an addon that does.
He already has an addon for it. Besides, I never use it because Exhaustion debuff is pretty niche. It pretty much only counters Dead Hard (which 50% of tryhard survivors use), Lithe (no one except babies use), and Balanced Landing (no one except rank 20 Neas use). Sprint Burst is the only truly threatening Exhaustion perk, and it does nothing against good players who use it.
-
From the leaks we've gotten and with some theorizing, this is what we can pretty safely assume:
The Clown is going to have 2 different bottles: The Afterpiece Tonic and The Afterpiece Antidote. Throwing a bottle of The Afterpiece Tonic will do it's normal effect, but the gas will gradually, piece by piece, expand until it reaches max area. The Afterpiece Antidote can then be thrown at the gas from The Afterpiece Tonic, which will combine the two into a brand new effect after a short duration.
Clown is also, from the looks of it, will have a passive reload, since his current reload button will probably be used to switch bottle types.
As for what The Afterpiece Antidote does on it's own or what it does when combined with The Afterpiece Tonic, we have no idea, only complete guesswork.
With the new way the gas expands, we have no idea how it will affect the physics of the gas when thrown at a higher structure.
They are also (most likely) revamping his addons.

Well, I think a big hitbox is good compensation for being able to "juke" the power by just zig-zagging and being hardcore punished for missing A SINGLE POUNCE.
Besides, hitboxes have felt more in the survivor's favor than the Killer's, and I say this from both perspectives

But it's not the player that screws up the hook trade. It's almost always the game. Why would you hit the hooked person when someone is unhooking them? And when it's not that, it's the game taking away your grab because it favors the survivor's connection.
It doesn't just favor survivor connection. It just favors survivors period. I pray they never put another grab challenge in the archives again, because grabs are actually impossible. Locker jukes are also OP because you just can't grab them, buying a guaranteed 7 extra seconds of time wasted

Have you ever thought that representation matters to more than just you? Skin color, sexuality, and beliefs are all pieces that make up a person's identity, and everyone varies. It's refreshing to see characters that aren't white and straight, not because it's bad to be like that, but because there are so many already represented in media. I mean, there has to be a point where 'representation' in media just becomes another person or character and that's for the better. Only showing one type of person makes it less relatable, and if people want to relate, let them go ahead and ask. There's no harm in it, and there will always be more to a character than their identity. Also, the reason I'd like to see more representation of LGBTQ+ characters in this game is because of all the gross people who have said the f slur in end game chat, and I'd love to see their reaction to characters like that. Also, don't you think Frank represents a handful of people in a sense? A person who disagrees with the system and wants to rise above? That must represent a few people. I don't want to sound rude, I genuinely think it's good to have representation to have better connections between the character(s) and those consuming media.
Yeah, they ARE pieces of a person's identity, but wanting an LGBTQ+ character for the sake of representation isn't really the way to go. I mean, I'm on the autism spectrum, along with afflicted with ADHD, Depression, and mental abuse, but I'm not combing over characters like "ooh, I'm represented in this autistic character!" "ooh, I'm represented in this mentally abused character". There's no harm in it, and I'm not against it per se. I'm just against adding a canonical LGBTQ+ character for the sake of having one.Besides, so what there are a million straight white males in media? I personally couldn't give 2 flying ######### what you have in your pants, what color it is, or who you prefer touching it, I really don't. I just want characters with good, well, character.
I remember reading Magnus Chase and The Gods of Asgard Book 3: The Ship of the Dead, and (spoiler) When Alex (a genderfluid character, typically identifies as female) makes a move on Magnus at the end of the book, Alex is currently male and kisses Magnus. Magnus then thinks "wait, Alex is a dude right now. How do I feel about this?" "I'm being kissed by Alex Fierro. I am 100% OK with this". Alex also has some character development at the start when she gets taken to Valhalla where we learn she prefers to be flexible and thought that if she wouldn't age or change in Valhalla, she thought that meant she wouldn't change genders either. THAT is how you do an LGBTQ+ character in a new character to a series, or revealing a character may be LGBTQ+. Don't just add a character that's LGBTQ+ for the sake of it. Make it be a critical part of their character. Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

I think the same can be said about the twins. You don’t have to go crazy with slugging with them to do well, yes a bit more slugging then oni, but i never had to go to crazy levels of overboard.
I currently play in lower ranks because I had to AFK grind for the Rift (that thing is stupid), but I'm still getting rolled if I don't slug alot of people constantly. For most killers, a 1v4 is pretty balanced. For the Twins, it seems like a 2v3 is balanced. Kind of funny if you think about it

Nah. Too boring.

Its like people forget oni exists..
Difference is that Oni is made infinitely stronger when he slugs, but it isn't necessary. To use him to his max potential, then yes, you have to, but to just play him, you don't HAVE to slug. The Twins is essentially "camp and slug all the time or lose", which is horrible game design. I'm not opposed to them being really good at camping. I honestly couldn't care less. I just want them to be more than "camp and slug 24/7"

I think Indian would be a nice addition for survivors, but I moreso want Native American heritage in a new survivor (similar to Piper McLean from the Heroes Of Olympus book series). I would 100% play that character, being partial Native American myself.

Unbreakable (without ds)- it's fine. Counters slugging
Quick and quiet(yes I've heard ppl complain)- um no
BBQ: I've never understood this one. The only crutch thing about this is that you get more blood points. ######### people.
Pop: It's honestly a garbage perk nowadays, but how is it a crutch if it rewards you for doing well? What in the hell?
Corrupt: This isn't a crutch, it's just something you need as a Killer to make up for a natural weakness. The difference is that a crutch makes up for lack of skill, and Corrupt makes up for lack of strength.
STBFL: What in the figity fawk? Whoever says this is a crutch is a moron.
Ruin/Undying: Again, this rewards you for doing well. How is this a crutch?
Borrowed Time: It's not a crutch most of the time (it's simply BS), but if you unhook in the Killer's face like an idiot, the Killer has every right to punish that mistake, but woop de doo! BT saves the day.
Adrenaline: ...what?
Sprint Burst: People probably call it a crutch because you don't good awareness or planning if you are working on a gen with this active. For good players, this is just a really f-ing good utility. On bad players, yeah, it's a crutch.
Unbreakable: Not really a crutch, but it's complete BS (it's an anti-momentum perk. Those should never exist except for maybe endgame perks).

Spirit is fun because she is actually strong. Legion is boring because you don't get any chase interaction. He just stabs you and runs away.
...you clearly have no idea how Legion works then. Legion does have chase interaction, but they spread pressure by, yes, stabbing and running away. After that, they still have to CATCH you if they want to capitalize on that pressure.
