I'm finding more and more that I am getting put into matches with red rank killers (usually rank 1 or 2) when I myself am only a rank 7 survivor. Because their gameplay is so much more advanced than mine, I'm finding it really unenjoyable (it's at a point where I wonder why I still actually play the game... and I think it's more because of the money I spent than the enjoyment I get from it!). Does anyone else feel like the matchmaking is completely out of whack, or am I just overreacting?

Matchmaking has been garbage for a long time. Near as I can tell it is almost totally random. I haven't been able to math out any equation that is being used. I track my games (both as Killer and Survivor) and try to figure out what (if any) criteria is being used. I have found zero common denominators so far. It may be there is a formula but it ONLY functions under ideal conditions if all the right people are online. Lacking that, I suspect it throws the formula out and just takes bodies. Do I know this for a fact? No; I'm guessing. What I do know is that I've collected a lot of data, done a lot of math, and have found no evidence of a consistent system so far.

So, my advice is to play Custom Games with your friends, and/or switch to Killer for while. Or you can simply keep playing and not stress over it. The more you play, in tougher matches, the sooner you will be on par with those Red Ranks. That is what happened to me. The damn system decided I was ready to take on all Red Rank Survivor Teams while I was still just Green. I took a serious beating, over and over again until I got where I wanted. Necessity is the mother of invention AND learning.

Of the people who actively have an opinion on this, yes, it is pretty generally agreed upon. You will find way more people who believe that one or both need to be changed than people who people that they are okay.

Everyone has an opinion. Only a select minority choose to inflict it upon us. And every time one of these threads comes up, there is a long procession of people who want them removed, fixed, or left alone (i.e. they are fine). All I'm saying is you would be doing yourself a favor by tempering your expectations. Me, I don't have any. I make the odd suggestion here and there, but I just come to play the game. If they change it I will adapt to the changes and be fine with those too. Do you see where I'm going with this?

I just think if even 10% of the energy some people use to complain about the game was used playing the game, they would probably get good enough that they don't care about keys, the Mori, and/or tons of other things. This game will NEVER be balanced; by its very design it is in constant flux with way too many variables to consider. Keys and the Mori aren't even close to being as important as some other things the DEV work on (and/or need to be working on).

Do I get a twinge of irritation when a Survivor (or a couple) use a Key and escape my clutches when I had them all beat? Sure. It would be strange if I didn't. Do I wince when the Mori hits me? Sure. Do either of these things happen all that often? No. In the last two weeks I've been killed by a Mori only once, and I play a lot of games. I've died on the Hook with nobody bothering to make an attempt perhaps 20+ times. This is because SWF don't care about Solos thrown in with their team. :) Which problem do you think bothers me more? Likewise, we have people suiciding on the Hook immediately to find another match and ruining good games for the other Survivors for no reason whatsoever, even when people were coming to get them. I see that at least one in three games.

What I'm pointing out (or trying to do) is that DbD has all sorts of issues, and some are far more disruptive and problematic than having the Killer give you an animated, early death, or someone coward bailing on everyone else with a Key.

As far as game balance, I'm pretty sure it is generally agreed upon that keys and/or moris are probably the number one thing that needs to be nerfed.

Nothing is generally agreed upon, no. It is generally agreed upon by the people who spend all their time complaining here in posts (and even then there are just as many people who will answer that they are fine). Most people just play the game and deal with both Keys and/or the Mori without commenting or complaining at all. I wouldn't set your expectations too high on what changes they do. When they say they will tweak them it could be next month, or it could be years from now. And what they change is never enough. Someone else always complains. It isn't worth worrying about.

Has any other survivor experienced being "pulled" off a survivor while attempting an unhook? Never before tonight have I experienced this and I wonder if it was a glitch or if it was something legit? Also, I've noticed that killers are also downing after a complete window volt or running up stairs? I've had this happen several times now and would like to see if anyone else has experience something similar. No grudge- a fair down is a fair down. This is pure curiosity.

It isn't a glitch. It is normal game play. I pride myself on getting at least 1+ grabs every game. It is a timing thing. To work the Killer must be very close. Learn to keep your head on a swivel so you see him/her coming and move and you will just get hit rather than grabbed. You can also act like you are going to unhook, interrupt so they start their animation and then move which causes them to fail and buys you a brief few seconds.

key ruins the game mate because every survivor can use it and good survivors realize when hatch spawns and at that point no one cares about gens. meaning the killer has nothing to go off of and if the key user gets to the hatch that's it the killer loses.

It's unhealthy for everyone involved and not to mention BS because the key holder doesn't care about gens when the hatch spawns and they get a free escape the second they spot the hatch. in red ranks with good survivors almost all games have at 3 gens done so the second the killer gets a kill the other 3 practically win if they realize one has a key and even if the key holder alone escapes and the killer closes hatch the other 2 now can open gates meaning the game skipped gens having to get done.

Just because they have an item and found a spot on the map doesn't mean they are entitled to an escape especially if it's in the middle of the match, it doesn't matter if they get tunneled because the killer kinda has to kill them first and hope another survivor doesn't pick up the key or they lose. keys need to have the whole hatch opening mechanic reworked to provide interaction with the killer so it's riskier to use the hatch. say what you want but it's kinda accepted that keys are pretty BS and need rework along with mori's.

We will have to agree to disagree. I just don't think they are that bad; there are certainly more pressing things I'd rather the DEV work on than Keys and the Mori. If they change them, great, but making them sound like a game breaking issue is just hyperbole. They are fine. I've had them used against me, and it wasn't a big deal. I suspect, if they do anything else to them, they will just make it so the Key only works for the person carrying it. But that is just a guess.

Man I love when I'm trying to have fun and play customs with some randoms and running a meme build and getting bullied and made fun of even tho I'm only rank 17 and don't play survivor and then when it's my turn to play killer I'm "boosted" and "have no skill" because I decided to play Freddy and they decided to play bad and try and bully me as the killer and then kick me from the party after making baby crying sounds just because I won and I'm bad, really nice.

Don't play Custom Games with just any Rando. Save that for people you know, trust, or have had as Players in real matches. Just play in the real matches where you can ignore the idiots.

yeah no keys are OP as hell, how is it fair that you can instantly and safely escape in front of the killer?

there is no interaction, no skill, and it is by no means fair or balanced.

No, they still have to find and get to the hatch. It is what it is. Most people who bring in keys just put a target on their backs to get tunneled out. The few lucky ones that find them in trunks aren't guaranteed to get to use them. It just doesn't happen enough to warrant being upset about.

No, not at all. Hatch always needed a number of Gens to be completed, depending on the number of Survivors left in the Trial.

    4 Survivors = 5 Gens

    3 Survivors = 4 Gens

    2 Survivors = 3 Gens

    1 Survivor = anytime

Really? Weird. Two months ago I remember seeing the damn Hatch near the start of every game and I would just make note of it. I would swear we didn't have that many Generators done. But my memory could be playing me false. Either way, I don't see a problem with Keys as they stand right now. I don't see there being anything to fix.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1775241#Comment_1775241

Isn't that just how the Hatch has always worked? The only change to Hatch spawning that I am aware of is that it now always spawns whenever there is one player left instead of only if at least two gens have been finished.

Nope. You used to be able to see the hatch far sooner.

  • @Raz_ said:

i hear a lot of rumors about moris and keys will get changed soon.. any infos about how and what the changes will be?

Keys already have been changed in that the Hatch doesn't become visible (and thus accessible) until a certain number of Generators are up compared to Survivors. That was all Keys needed. I'm sure the Mori rework will likewise be tied to something numerical, probably a number of Hooks, not unlike the Hex: Devour Hope.

  • There are plenty of counters, not the least of which is safe rescues in the first place. The second is your fellow Survivors can body block and take some hits. Then there is always simply looping well and getting away.

  • When it first came out, I used to hate this map. I've actually grown quite fond of it. It plays so entirely different from the others, and I think that is its chief virtue.

  • Heh; this thread is funny. So many threads and so much salt. I get accused of tunneling and camping even when I give every Survivor three hooks and never take the same person in a row. Let's just say I have little faith in the "perception" Survivors have (I also play Survivor). It always feels like you are being camped or tunneled unfairly. It doesn't mean you are in fact.

I do believe head on is a bully perk I hate it more the DS I had match one time 2 feng min dress a like didn't think much of it and was doing good till there was like 2 or 3 gens left when they start switching between each other with head on stuns when I was chasing them.

love it when people say it just them being better at the game but survivor and killers it like playing different games I sure a lot of survivor don't touch killer other then daily and tome challenges some I'm sure skip them it's not them being better at the game it them playing the easier role.

It is funny you should mention this. The video I'm going to put up has a Squad where all four have Head On, and they lured the Killer (my gal) to the Killer Shack where there were a bunch of lockers simply so they could start blasting her and then blinding her, etc.

  • No, no they don't. The Myer's Mori add-ons are part of what make him unique and grant him a special kind of style and substance. He isn't alone in having a Mori ability outside of an offering. PH also has a method to do this. There is also Devour Hope (A Hex Perk) which can allow for it too. Myers has been able to do these things for a LONG time and it hasn't broken then game, nor made him overpowered. He is considered middle tier if not lower. Every once in awhile threads like this one show up when someone gets Salty.

  • I didn't see it but I HEARD it recently. I was playing Spooky Myers and I could see the aura of all four Survivors in front of me. I heard the damn locker behind me open and close fast (loud and clear). I was confused as heck.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Red rank killer (and survivor) here. The competitive scene of this game can be unforgiving. You win some and you lose some, but every now and then, human nature comes into play. I am 1 match into my current play session and I feel like getting off. Why? Because playing killer + toxic SWF = zero fun. I try to ignore it, and tell myself to just play for fun, but it doesn't work. If there is no chance of winning, I'm not having fun. That is especially true when sadistic people, who use this game as an online bullying tool, have to rub salt in the wound. When winning isn't enough for you, you've got a problem.

But my biggest issue is: where's the pushback? As individual players, all we can do is ignore the toxicity. Toxic people will be toxic, but maybe there would be less of them if they were at least told that what they're doing is wrong.

To my knowledge, the devs haven't said a word about unsportsmanlike behavior, despite the useless in-game report feature. Why not? Do they approve of it or what? Because frankly it's pushing longtime players, as well as new ones, away from the game. These toxic players, confident in knowing that their behavior is a back burner issue to the devs, if even that, is ruining this game and it's image.

So I say: If toxicity is wrong, let's hear it. Give us something.

You would have to "define" toxic in the context you are using it. If you are talking about verbal abuse before or after the game, there is already a reporting system for that. It has been denounced in that sense that it can draw a ban. I don't think anyone would disagree with the notion that being an unsportsmanlike jerk outside the match is poison.

However, the term "toxic" has become meaningless because everyone uses it to refer to ANY behavior they personally don't like, and nine times out of ten it is used to describe Players who simply beat you. I consider this very unfortunate. Some people use it to describe Players who simply give 100% in every game they play. Some Players use it to describe Players who use certain Perks, Builds, Tactics, etc. and all of these things are legal and valid. I've even had someone call me toxic for putting the Demo in a match. I was like..... "uhhhhhhhh?"

My advice is to purge the word "toxic" from your vocabulary. Ignore people who throw it around in a cavalier way. Report people who are abusive (or cheat) through the proper channels. Just get on with your life. The only rules that I follow are:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
    2. Don't disconnect; if I start a game, I finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

Those three things are ALL that is required to be a good sport. Are we on the same page, or are you one of those people who tries to add a personal litmus test to being a good sport which is beyond (and bogus) this simple mantra?

  • I love Haddonfied, as Spooky Myers anyway (Cracked Mirror+Boyfriend's Memo). There is a stretch of the main street where you can go up and down and read nearly all the Generators with just a little weave except for the extreme perimeter. I find it is pretty darn easy to get a 3-Gen setup there as the Survivors are easily run off from the center. There is enough terrain that I can sneak up on them everywhere but on the main street and when I have to chase there I just wait until PWYF is charged up. *Conversely, I HATE this map as Maniac Myers (any build going to Tier-3) because there are just too many loops and it is far too easy to lose the Survivors.

As a Survivor I tend to like Haddonfield, and let's be fair, we all know WHY.

  • Sorry for the delay. Holiday has me backed up, but I'll edit out the info that "names and shames" and try to have one or two uploaded by Turkey day.

  • I wish you were correct, but you are not. A Killer can try to herd the Survivors and control the map in such a way to create a 3-Gen situation, but it isn't a sure thing. In fact, it is often the quickest way to lose. Some new Killers will find the 3-Gen and then anchor themselves there, only going after Survivors who come into their narrow patrol. This is a bad idea.

The Survivors will get all the other Generators they need and then starts a coordinated effort of going in and out on the periphery (usually in two man teams) until the last one pops because you won't be able to keep up. Even with a 3-Gen if Survivors are hitting the two furthest and simply moving off the moment you turn around, slow but sure they will wear those Generators down. It happens all the time.

There is a basic truth of war, it is very difficult to win on the defense. The Killer is one person and attrition will favor the Survivors if you let them get all they want. The more EFFECTIVE way for a Killer to 3-Gen is to do it more subtle, i.e. actively be chasing, downing, and working on the Survivors so that their numbers are culling before you get down to the 3-Gen situation. Herd chases in a way that discourages the area you mean to hold. And for the record, a 3-Gen doesn't always have to be the three closest Generators. They just have to be close enough or have an easy enough route to patrol.

Thus, a Killer can remain flexible and be willing to actively work on the Survivors while always working to get one of three Generator combinations for the end game. There is an IDEAL combo, a good combo, and a workable combo. The workable one is just as good as the ideal, if you have gotten your Survivors down in number a bit. About the only point I will defer is I'm certain there are SOME Killers, the best of the best, that can always get a 3-Gen situation when they want it. But for the rest of us, it involves work.

  • @JoeyBob said:

It's too easy to end up in a 3 gen. There should be 8 gens, not 7.

No, you have to work pretty hard to 3-Gen yourself, or the Killer has to herd you.

  • @AggressiveFTW said:

The 18 perks that I'm talking about are: Overcharge, Hex: Ruin, Corrupt Intervention, Thrilling Tremors, Oppression, Dragon's Grip, Discordance, Surveillance, Pop Goes the Weasel, Gearhead, Trail of Torment, Surge, Hex: Huntress Lullaby, Tinkerer, Dead Man's Switch, Fire Up, Thanatophobia and Mindbreaker.

It's honestly sad and depressing to know that killers have 18 perks that have to do with gens. How come we have so many gen perks? Have we ever asked for that amount of gen perks? Is this a sign that survivors need a new objective?

If I'm gonna be honest with you guys, I think that the devs have lost their creativity a little bit with perk creation. The game will definitely get more boring over the years if survivors don't get a new objective soon.

The saddest part of all of this is that half of those perks aren't even used very often and isn't very good and viable in high ranks if you are trying to play serious and sweat.

What are your thoughts and ideas on how to fix this? Do you also believe that survivors need another new objective soon?

That many objectives based on Generators tells you there is a problem with Generators getting done too fast, i.e. they keep trying to balance it.

As a killer myself I don’t get why another killer would get mad about someone dcing unless they were going for a challenge or achievement like your just getting a easier game

Well some of us don't want an "easier" game. We come to play, and play hard. I don't want gimme games. I want to earn what I get.

  • It is suicide on the Hook that nukes your points. This penalty isn't unlike the loss of points the Killer gets for staying too close to the Hook. If you ride it out and wait to get unhooked, you regain most of the points lost for getting hooked in the first place. If you die on the hook, you don't get them back. So, in general, it is better for you AND the other Survivors to rescue you. It is likewise more lucrative from a points perspective for the Killer to not stand point blank with you.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

Um, define "bullying", and if you have video examples I'd like to see, because a lot of people call SWF squads "bully squads" and all they're doing is something so benign like coordinating head on plays. Or they're just playing better than the killers and get called a bully squad despite the fact that all they're doing is being better at the game. And of all the big streamers I've watched Ive never seen them go out of their way to flame the killer in postgame chat etc. Even all the survivor mains.

A Bully Squad isn't there to play the game, i.e. repair Generators and get out. They are there to harass the Killer, with the goal of getting him/her to disconnect. To give an example, they will often start making a whole lot of noise on purpose to attract the Killer to one location and then start coordinated blinding and head on attacks. I have some great videos of this stuff. I will probably post one or two, but I have to edit them to blur the names at the end since we can't "name and shame" regardless of how much the people involved deserve it.

Bully Squads are almost always made up of Red Rank and/or Purple (often Red Rank who sandbagged down) so they can pull some easy target from the newer Killers. They aren't actually looking for a real fight.

  • @carnage4u said:

I do wonder how much of the toxic survivor gameplay gets more generated by many of the survivor mains that stream that focus on Toxic play. Every Night, there are multiple Streamers that play 6 to 8 hours with friends and just dunk on killer 95% of the night. It is a complete stomping of killer after killer and sometimes thousands of people watch and are greatly entertained as they 4 person escape game after game and bully the killer every game. then if a killer manages to kill 1 or 2 of them, they simply insult them in chat and call the killer toxic for (for breaking up a 5 hour toxic run)

I guess all I'm rambling about as long as people love to watch killers get crushed in streams and it generates thousands of views and people into the game, I don't expect this game to ever change.

Sure, some of the top streamers with 5,000 hours that play killer can crush Survivors all day for some sort of streamer balance, but its always brutal/basic games, and they manage to create huge crowds without having to be go down such toxic paths.

Damn; did I miss them? I LOVE catching Bully Squads. I'm up to six really good videos destroying such groups. It is what I live for. They think they are going to have some fun, but I demonstrate how things actually work.

  • I play by three simple rules:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hacks or lag spikes.
    2. Don't disconnect; if I start a game I finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

Is it really that important to win? I mean I get it, it feels good to get that 4K or have a flawless 4 man escape but c'mon, winning isn't that important. Like what, if you don't get that 4K are the Devs gonna shoot your mom or something? Otherwise I don't understand why you care THAT much about winning. Was it really necessary to slug that baby dweet until he bled out so that you could get your 4K? Probably not, lol. I mean there comes a point where trying to win becomes a chore. No one could enjoy slugging the third person and searching for two minutes to find the 4th and meanwhile as survivor, doing all the gens in three minutes and escaping without even so much as seeing the killer couldn't possibly be fun right? Prioritizing winning over fun makes every loss sting that bit more and every win feeling kind of shallow if the majority of the match was boring. Am I missing some secret thrill to sweating or something? It sounds more stressful then fun to me.

Yes. This is a game; more to the point, it is a PVP game. The Survivors have the objective of getting out alive. The Killer has the objective of killing them all. Boiled down to the core, that is the game. If you don't like this game, why are you playing it? Why are you trying to pass your personal failures at the game on to others? Take ownership. When the Killer earns a 4K it is because YOU (and the other Survivors in that match) failed to stop him/her. The person you should be giving scrutiny to is yourself FIRST, and your teammates second.

And as a follow up, yes, it is important for the Killer to earn as many BP as he/she can, and as much advancement in Emblems as possible.

"If the game is not fun, then why bother?" Such common sense!

Because you aren't the only person in the universe. This game is a 4v1. When you quit because you have decided you aren't having fun, you have just ruined the match for four other people. They might have been having fun. If you aren't there to truly play, find another game.

Bloodlust allows killers to potentially down survivors when they've been in a chase for a long time without breaking pallets. Not only does this change force killers to break pallets they could otherwise bloodlust, but it gives the potential to drastically increase chase times without any downside to the survivors.

Game is just becoming more and more survivor sided. First they nerfed bloodlust now theyre removing it all together.

Please. You think getting rid of Bloodlust is a favor to Survivors? This is potentially the best thing to happen to Killers (if they decide to do it) in a long time. Bloodlust trains new Killers to keep chasing the same Survivor for long periods of time, so that Bloodlust will help them close the gap. This is a BAD habit, and one that Killers eventually learn NOT to do. Bloodlust incentivizes baby Killers maintaining a pointless chase because they think it will pay off. In the meantime, the other Survivors are making bank in Generators.

In short, the sooner Bloodlust is gone, the sooner new Killers learn how to drop a chase and return to Generator pressure. The sooner Bloodlust is gone, the better... for KILLERS who are learning the game. I wish it had never been around when I started.

you think dbd has a smurf problem? go on overwatch, or any other game, there will be smurfs in probably every match. I am not fine with smurfing, but in dbd it's still pretty rare and i can't see why you think it's '"out of control" and besides that, everyone has bad matches and going against players better than you helps you learn. and if you didn’t take an online game so personally and seriously, you might have a better chance to learn and get good.

I'm good enough. I got my Rank-1 with Myers, and I'm capable of destroying Bully Squads when I find them. I do take it personal when people purposely game the system so they beat up on Newbies. And I work out that frustration by giving the same back to them. Why do I think it is out of control? I've been tracking games and the vast majority of them are 1-3 Red Ranks mixed in with a few weak Ranks to pull weaker Killers. It is rare that I get a game that isn't like that.

  • People hate losing, in general, and take Survivor death as losing. Some of us take it like good sports, and the rest look for things to complain about and scapegoat. Ownership of our losses is what marks us as mature, adult human beings. Age is no guarantee of maturity.

  • There are already Perks that give you buffs to accelerate repairing Generators, and some of them (like Spine Chill) give you a bonus while in the Terror Radius. So, you already have things which do this. Use them.

The Mori aren't any different now than ever. You have to understand that Killers don't use the Mori all that often. They build up. Then when a Daily or Riff that says use one comes up, everyone reaches for them. It can create a weird spike.

*I myself must have over a Hundred Mori built up on my Myers.

I legit don’t understand why survivors wouldn’t bring DS.

I don't bring DS, ever. I run Iron Will, Calm Spirit, Self Care, and Spine Chill. That is my standard build. You will note there are no exhaustion Perks in there and no DS. I do just fine. Why? I evade the Killer when I can, I loop the Killer when I can't, and I get by with the help of the other Survivors. Oddly enough I rarely ever have the experiences described and lamented here. Being tunneled and camped certainly do not make up the majority of my matches. Does it happen? Sure, but it is certainly the exception not the rule.

okay so to preference this first: i play alot more killer then survivor and i am not going to et them uhook their friend infront of me if i know they are their, i also do not stay near hooks and tend not to use basment if i can avoid it(if there is no other hooks near enough i will use it) but when i play survivor it feels like most killers with proxy or face camp and the penatily for it is so minor i could poxy camp 12 hooks and still pip in red ranks to me it feels like there needs to be more punishment for it so im looking for suggestions or soemthing along those lines to either change or nerf the camping aspect it ruins alot of games and i know im not alone on this aspect

No, no it doesn't. The only way to get Killers to leave is for them to have something to go toward or a reward for doing so. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. The main reason Killers stay close is more often than not they know other Survivors are around. Why would they leave? As the last poster indicated, the easiest way to dissuade Killers from hanging out at the hook is for the would-be rescuers not to hang out there too.

To be fair, survivors don't even need to lose to be salty. I've gotten salt from survivors who won the match, because I didn't play in the exact way they wanted me to play. I've even had a survivor d/c just to prevent me from getting the final hook after forcing the rest of their teammates out of the exit gate.

Yep, there is an epidemic of bad sportsmanship.

  • I apologize... I probably misread it by going too fast. :)

I did not say you should not go back. I am not saying tunneling is always a bad decision. But you do have other options than going after the injured or stay in a corner.

But it isn't a "always" a bad decision. Sometimes it isn't even a decision. For example, I put down the very next person who happens to get in front of me. I'm not picky and I don't care if I hit you before or not. Half the damn time the person who got unhooked comes and finds me (I'm sure by accident) on the other side of the map. Am I supposed to ignore them? I think not.

Most Killers don't actually have an intent one way or another. Killers just take whomever is the weakest link and most likely down. So if I find a fresh Survivor and a wounded one, I'm likely to take the wounded one. If I find two wounded or two fresh, I'm going for whomever has the weakest loop (or none). If I have a choice between dead on hook and 1st hook, I'm going to put the dead on hook out of the game.

It is my job, when I play Killer, to sacrifice Survivors and I'm not picky. I don't go out of my way to tunnel (unless I have a darn good reason) nor do I go out of my way to avoid getting the same person. It is just chance.

Or he (or she) could just be happy that they had an easy game. After all there was no gen being worked on at that moment. And stealth is not a super power. You are still able to find the other surv, they decided to ‚tunnel‘ (which is okay, but don’t cry about being called tunneler)

And why call him anything at all? It is just bad manners and poor sportsmanship. Survivors (just like Killers) need to own their own losses and failures. The Salt you keep inside.

  • @Mooks said:

Yeah that healthy one should have stayed under the hook and let you hook him/her! /s

they could not have known you were coming back, and why would you? There are gens to patrol after all. It’s not their job to entertain you all the time with a chase. Stealth is just as a viable strategy as tunneling is.

His point is he came back to his most recent point of seeing a survivor and getting the notification that someone got off the hook. That is normal. The Survivors just need to keep their salt to themselves.

How is anyone who doesn't main hillbilly supposed to get this without purposefully deranking? I could understand if this was a challenge during the double charge add-on days but it isn't, even if they just made it a regular challenge as opposed to a master challenge this would be so much better.

Please note the words "MASTER CHALLENGE" for that one. If you don't want to do it, don't select it. :) Problem solved.

My group is all the same level (one guy is one level lower), no smurf accounts, so the only thing that's cucking the Killers we face is matchmaking. Whereas the Survivors you face, when matchmaking 'works', are being cucked by you given the smurf account you're using. The 'beauty' of your method is basically you saying "I'm not like the other smurfs", while smurfing.

Pretty much that is accurate. I'm looking for Smurfs, 100%. If I don't find them, I let the little fish play and just play at their level. I'm not interested in beating up on people in Kindergarten. That is boring. I'm interested in the big game, and I can spot a Red Rank (or Purple) Survivor pretty much immediately. Do I like this situation? No.

However, since I started doing it I have been tracking first the matches of my gal who out of 11 got 8 Smurfing groups... and obvious ones. We are talking between 1-3 Red Ranks offset by one weird lower Rank. Since she gave up on the game because of that I find that the vast majority of the games I get include at least 1-2 Red Ranks even though she "was" Rank-14 when I took her over. She isn't anymore, obviously as I've been punishing every Smurf group I can get my hands on.

So, I agree that the sooner they have a GOOD matchmaking system, the happier I'l be. My gal might try again.

It's not always even smurfing. Last night I ran several games with 3 other people in a 4 man SWF, we were all rank 2 (one 3) on the PS4. We. Kept. Getting. Killers. Around. Rank. 10. Had a rank 13 that only had one perk once. Most were high Green ranks. Every game was a 4-man escape unless the Killer tunneled hard or brought a Mori.

It was only much later in the night where we got our first Killers that were in the red ranks and actually brought some spank on. I have no idea why we weren't getting them earlier though.

But that is the beauty of my method. Even if you didn't INTEND to Smurf you are still above the level of the Killers you are pulling. When you get me, the scales are balanced and we have a nice even game. Do you follow? So if I kill you all (or you beat me) things are as they should be. It is Win/Win.

  • Basically, I was going to setup a new goal for myself, try to get some new Killer (probably Trapper) to Rank-1. Then I saw all the Smurfing and it drove my gal out of the game as she was just getting started. Now my new goal is just to hunt the heck out of Smufing Squads to make their lives miserable. I highly suggest it to anyone. If you have been playing awhile, you can recognize the moves of a Red Rank (or Purple) survivor real fast. The trick is not to be a Smurf yourself. I am always very careful because it is NOT fair for me to be cruising innocent groups of Survivors who are not ready for the likes of me.

If they are little fish, I play them but with gloves on and make sure that some (if not all) get out. I don't farm, because I don't think they learn anything from that and it is boring. I just play to teach. The second I sniff out the Smurfers though, everyone dies.

Yeah, I don’t put all that much stock in the rules the Devs have laid out. Especially when it comes to obviously broken mechanics. Moris, certain addons, and items will all get a scoff out of me. I don’t even think a dc is 100% bad all the time. I assume it’s very enraging to watch the killer offering not flip over and then to get one shot by an iri head infantry belt huntress or to be new to the game and get ran for 5 gens as wraith with predator by a rank 4-1 because the matchmaking doesn’t work. I personally think it’s entirely reasonable to give people grief over what they they decide to use within the limits of the game. Especially when things are so obviously broken. It’s a bit like using cheat engine to twink a character in dark souls. It’s technically legal and you can’t get banned for it, but it’s a pretty garbage thing to do.

Yeah, and that is where we will have to agree to disagree. I think your beef is with the DEV and it is them you should direct all your grief and/or shame. Me, I'm just here to play the game. I don't spend a lot of time complaining about other players unless they are disconnecting or Smurfing (and I work on punishing that myself).
