You know there’s things that communities as a whole frown upon, right? Like in every multiplayer game. Not everything is “devs said this it’s true”. Especially not in this game because they say way off base things and make way off base changes. I’m sorry but BHVR being for or against certain play styles means a bunch of nothing to most people. I’m going to call killers who use moris to win lame and bad at the game. I’m going to call survivors who DC lame and bad at the game.
I'm more pragmatic. To me there is only what is within the rules and what is not. Do I use a Mori? Not usually, unless I'm hunting Smurfing Squads or doing a Rift. I consider them counterproductive to my BP and Emblem advancement. However, I don't question what builds and offerings the Survivors bring. You will not find one post from me ANYWHERE in 1700 or so I've done that complains about Survivor OR Killer choices which are legal. That is none of my business. Do you see my point?
I'm not going to grief Survivors or Killers for making legal choices. If people want to make threads to the DEV or about the DEV, that is their business. That is who arbitrates the rules. But blaming other Players for using what they paid BP for and is within the rules, is weak at best, rude at worst. It is also hypocritical. I don't think you and I disagree on much deep down. I've read enough of your posts to know you are a pretty good egg. You and I are just opposed here because I don't believe in giving Players grief or shame over doing what is within the rules.

No, you did whataboutism by making the post about DCs instead of what it’s actually about. Try Harding killers. This one specifically used an ebony mori and tunneled off hook after someone happened to dc. The DC isn’t the subject of the post. I also didn’t excuse disconnecting. If you can quote where I said it was ok to DC I’d love to see it.
I pointed out the hypocrisy of supporting a killer tunneling off first hook with a mori while vilifying DCing. I called the both bad. You seem to only think one is bad because BHVR told you it’s bad.
The thread isn’t specifically about the quitter. The thread is about a killer who still tried their hardest after a DC. The OP wasn’t even trying to vilify killers for trying hard. They were asking why they do even when survivors clearly aren’t trying to win.
That's right. One behavior (disconnecting) is an offense that gets a ban. The others are endorsed as valid by the DEV. I don't have to excuse the Killer behavior, because it isn't an offense. It is just the game. If those things were against the rules, you and I would be on the same page. But they aren't, and thus we aren't.

No, I’m not doing whataboutism. You misused that just like you misused false equivalence. This post was about a killer try harding with an ebony mori after someone DCed. If anything I’m more on topic than you were this entire thread. The actual only thing that matters in the thread is why killers try hard because that’s why the thread was made. Both actions are done selfishly and end up ruining others experiences. Your only reasoning being that daddy BHVR punishes one and not the other is pretty weak when they’re very out of touch with their own game and it’s players.
I'm using it entirely correctly. I pointed out that the PROBLEM of the 3v1 was created by the person who disconnected, and not the Killer. And yet, it was the Killer who got a thread created about him/her. I pointed out the silliness of that. You also, seem to want to focus on what YOU find objectionable about Killer behavior, even though they are entirely valid and legitimate. The things are apples and oranges. That's it. As long as you keep trying to come up with excuses for why people disconnect, you are moving further and further away from the problem.
The chain started when a person disconnected early. That was the problem, and yet the thread wasn't made about that. It became another Hobby Horse to complain about Killers. That is what I've been pointing out since the start, and you still want to make it about other things. Do we agree or not that the issue, the event that this thread is based on, started with a QUITTER?

Ok so let’s cover this real quick. They were bad at the game. Ebony moris on any competent killer is an automatic win button. The problem is a lot of killers who are actually good at the game don’t bring moris because they got good at the game for a reason. I’d just rethink your stance on moris if you’re going to have such a hard one against DCing when the two bring about the same exact problem.
Actually, no. I don't have to rethink anything. These things are not one and the same, or even related. One is legal, and the other is not. I'm on record, many times with my suggestion for how I think the Mori should be reworked. I would be surprised if we didn't agree on how. That, however, is moot. What you are doing is called "whataboutism" to try and justify an illegal behavior. I think you need to check yourself because you are only wrecking your own position.
The only thing in this thread that matters is someone disconnected early and left the game in a mess, i.e. a 3v1. What the Killer did afterwards is irrelevant entirely. The game was ruined by the person who left the others in the lurch. There is no justification for the behavior, period.

Tunneling someone off hook with an ebony mori ruins their game... Then the next person you do it to... Then the next... Then you kill the last on first hook. I’m sure they had a super fun time and didn’t feel at all oppressed by the op mechanic BHVR has failed to change. There’s no game with an ebony mori on a decent killer. You will get downed and hooked once. If you can down and hook someone before the first two gens pop with an ebony mori you’ve won the game. If you bring an ebony mori and somehow lose that’s pretty impressive and I applaud you. A survivor DCing and a killer bringing a Ivory Mori and immediately killing one of the survivors is the same thing btw. You don’t even need an ebony mori. You’re turning the game into a 1v3 right at the start of the game. It’s just the killer doing it instead of the survivor. The same scenario crafted in different ways by different sides. Please explain how the two aren’t comparable at all? I’d really like to hear the logic behind this.
I play Solo que and I get out (and the team wins) against an Ebony Mori all the time. Sometimes you don't but it isn't an automatic win for the Killer.

When did I say my metric was what the devs consider ok and punishable? DCing to get out of a game you don’t want to be in is as much of a lame move as bringing an ebony mori and tunneling off hook because you’re bad at the game. Both ruin the experience for people. The Devs used to say Clown was powerful and people just weren’t good enough with him. The devs think OoO is perfectly ok because the people that use it die often. Don’t throw around “false equivalence” without knowing what it means because it isn’t a false equivalence. They’re perfectly comparable and your only response is that the devs punish one and not the other.
Having to fight the Mori or someone who Tunnels doesn't ruin a game. There is still a game on tap. Having someone disconnect ruins/destroys games instantly. Equating them isn't appropriate on any level. It doesn't matter if your standards are the same as the DEV or not. A match can still be played and won against a Killer using a Mori (or tunnels). We see it every day. A game that goes from a 4v1 to a 3v1 in the first minute is near impossible for the Survivors. Please explain how YOU equate the two?

This issue is why a friend of mine quit 10 minutes after downloading the game. He downloaded it from the Xbox Gamepass so thankfully he didn't spend anything, but that's still not the point. I suggested Killer because it was more interactive and can be fun. He got a smurf squad SWF team, 1 Rank 16, the rest Rank 1. They even brought OoO for christ sake. Since he was new he didn't realise that they knew everything he did thanks to that single perk. And they knew it. They just taunted at him, flashlighted him constantly, and just overall BM. I don't even bother recommending this game to anyone anymore, hell, I deter them away from it. The fact that new players can be subject to toxic behaviour for peoples own amusement is very telling, especially when the devs allow this to happen.
Yeah. The Smurfing is out of control. Since I already got my Rank-1 goal out of the way, I've been kind of playing with learning different Killers to let my Rank drop a bit, and then switch back to Myers to hunt the middle Ranks for Smurfing squads. It only takes a couple of minutes to figure out if you in such a match. If not, I play the game softer and generally let people escape. I'm not there for them. If there are Red mixed in with lessers (or Purple who are just Red who let their Rank slip) I do my best to slaughter them all. I find hunting Smurfers to be rather gratifying. They drove my gal out of the game in the say way as they did your friend. So she lets me use her account where the Killer is not near so potent a Rank so I can hunt for them there too. I've caught several Bully Squads this way and have some hilarious videos as they quickly realize it isn't a Rank-14 they are trying to torment.

lol the ebony mori tunnel off hook hag is just as lame as the first person DCing. It’s just game why you haf to be mad
Actually, no. Disconnecting is an offense that results in a timed Ban. It is not considered acceptable by the DEV (or other Players) because it ruins a match. Tunneling and the Mori are part of the game, and have been stated valid by the Dev many times. They are not equitable. It is just this kind of false equivalence that irritates me.

I wanted an option for survs to block the killer for 4 min. when doors are open and every surv are at them. This way we can search in boxes of break hooks or stuff like that to make bps. It can be part of the game too.
You have those options before you are downed. If you give the downed Survivor utility again, you have undone the work of the Killer. Games are short. Worst case scenario you bleed out. We accept that on occasion we will be slugged.

Yes. Sadly, it is severe overkill against Solo Que, strangling them, but it is necessary to be on par with Red Rank SWF. That is the balance issue facing the game.

Quitters are obviously jackasses, I thought it was so obvious I didn’t need to say it. But this post isn’t about them, the game punishes them and everyone already knows why salty babies rage quit so it’s pointless to talk about.
Also, I called you confrontational because that’s how you described yourself, so please don’t make out like I’m attacking you by using a word that you yourself used in the previous post.
Yeah, and I'm glad you and I agree on that. The OP, however, isn't clear on that, which is why this thread exists int he first place. The OP didn't get upset about being left holding the bag and immediately go post about the jerk who left him to get slaughtered by the Killer. Do you see my point? So yeah, I think this is worth being a bit confrontational about.

You’re incorrect on point 1, I believe. The only rift challenge that requires moris is the recent Devour Hope one where the perk will do it, every other challenge that says “kill all survivors” includes killing them via hook, no mori needed. I may be forgetting one, but I don’t think I am.
I don’t see the point in getting angry and confrontational about someone you don’t know being called a tryhard (really not an offensive thing to be called in my opinion), but fair enough.
I get angry about it because its is garbage that builds up on the Forum, is bad for the community, and creates and "us versus them" illusion. I'm angry because the VERY first post sets out a scenario where a person DCs in the game and ruins the match. That person isn't given any condemnation or barely a second thought. Somehow, the thread isn't about people who rudely disconnect; it is about "Tryhard Killers," just another attack on Killers who are just doing their JOB.
And you (who seem to think I'm being confrontational) seem to be bending over backwards trying to find a way to justify this thread without ever addressing the point I keep bringing up. Who is the villain in the scenario, the Quitter or the Killer?

Maybe the OP just wants to understand the mindset of someone who views the game competitively, when they play in a more casual manner? People are allowed to ask questions, and others have given good reasons (wanting to get the match over with, for example).
Things don’t always have to be so confrontational. I’ve had survivors get mad at me before for “tryharding” when someone rage quit and when I explain that I just wanted a boring match over with, they were usually more reasonable. It doesn’t have to be “us vs them”.
Someone who wants to "understand" doesn't start by using a nickname which is intended in a negative way. The term "Tryhard" tells you that the OP already had an opinion and is simply passing a judgement. Neither Killers nor Survivors have to explain how or why they play the game. The default is expected that you are going to attempt to achieve your objectives. Going back to your original comments:
- There are Rifts where you have to kill everyone by your own hand. If the Killer was going for that Rift they have already wasted the Mori, putting it in for that purpose and the disconnect has screwed things up. They might as well use it.
- If they want to get to another match fast, the best way is to eliminate the Survivors. I can tell you from first hand experience if you sit back and let them do Generators they take their damn time and assume you want to farm. They don't just get their butts in gear and out. The Killer ends up sitting there longer than if it had been a normal match.
- It is dubious to assume someone is actually tunneling. I know Survivors always assume they are being tunneled and camped. I've been called a tunneling Camper when I went (12) Hooks in a match and never hooked the same person twice in a row, and never stayed near the hook. All we have is the OP's PERCEPTION of events and his use of the word "Tryhard" has already shown his perception and bias is skewed. Do you see my point?
I am a bit confrontational in threads like these. They make me angry. I don't like seeing the blame and angst directed at a Player who stayed to play the game, when the problem was created by someone who couldn't be bothered.
-

Talk about making assumptions. I didn’t say anything about the killer except that if they wanted bp and/or emblems, they wouldn’t tunnel mori everyone. There are no challenges or dailies that require 3 tunnel mori kills either. Calm down.
My point is that this issue isn't the Killer's fault. This entire thread is annoying because it places the blame on a Player that did NOT create the problem. The problem is an idiotic, self-centered Player disconnected and left the match in a 3v1 state. That is where the blame, angst, and shame should lie. Instead, we are getting the normal "us versus them" garbage.
-

You get garbage bloodpoints and emblems if you mori people early, so that obviously wasn’t their mindset.
You are making assumptions, which is always dangerous. You don't know what Rifts or Daily Rituals the Killer was working. Why are you blaming the Killer for the actions of the LOSER who disconnected and left the OP in a lurch? Get your priorities straight. There was only one villain in that scenario, and the blame BELONGS there.
-
Take your break; get things in context. Getting slugged is part of the game, and it isn't going away. You will either decide the game is worth your time or it isn't. I'm not being snide, just direct. We all get slugged from time to time.

I really don't understand why so many people tryhard against survivors who literally don't try at all. I just played against a hag that tunneled and mori'd everyone in a three-man at five gens, after someone dc'd. Literally everyone else in the game was chilling and that hag just wanted to ruin that like bruh
Because Killers have Emblems and BP to earn too? I'm sure that Killer was no happier about the DC than you were, but that doesn't mean the Killer should have to take it on the chin, anymore than you should. Don't blame the Killer. Report the DC twerp who put you in that position. Then do your best and earn what you can. That is all the Killer was doing.
-
I'm pretty happy with them all as they stand now. Lerys might be indoors but has so many loops and vaults that it isn't really Killer or Survivor weighted. Hawkins isn't bad either, as long as the Survivors learn to use the upper and lower levels in the many rooms. If they don't, that is on them. I actually like Gideon and Midwich too, as they are, because they provide a unique and very different challenge.
-
Yeah, I'm not bothering with it. The sheer number of unlocked Perks I have on top of everything else make it take TOO LONG to get what I need back on the character. The cost is too high for something so minor.
-
I used to give people the thumbs up and say things about good Players all the time, and then I realized (sadly) that it is a like a suggestion box that feeds directly into a shredder. :) I don't bother with it anymore. I agree that there is no point in having it unless it does something, or at least tells the Player "so and so" had this to say!
-
Everyone hates on some Killer it seems. I suppose they hate how the Doctor can reveal them all, no matter where they hide. I find that a bit odd, since there are other Killers that can do that too (and better). I wouldn't worry about the Doc hate; just play the game and ignore it.

So I'm playing Pyramid head, wait like 10 minutes to actually get some people. I get in and there's two claudettes and a Nea and they decide to come after me with flashlights. The fact that these dickheads decide to take it upon themselves to ruin my game really pisses me off.
My own personal feelings is when douchey players come for me no amount of me playing decent against them is going to matter. Even disconning isn't going to do anything because they're still going to do what they're going to do. So I move to a wall, tilt my head up so flashlights don't bug me and refuse to play. I'm not going to play the 'lets gang up on the killer' game. If you're going to make my game miserable then I'm going to make yours as boring as possible.
Even then, the three of them come after me and start dancing around like morons, clicking their flashlights and jumping in and out of lockers and running across the barbed wire to be irritating and spam me with explosions and notifications.
We're not on the playground in 5th grade so I can't actually punch these ######### so that's about all I is refuse to play along. I'm curious as to what you guys do when people are dead set on ruining the game with antics like this. How do YOU handle these situations.
and for reference I'm looking for "you should grow a thicker skin" or "suck it up" other such bullshit you can keep that to yourself. And no I'm not taking it personally. I just find it aggravating. I paid to play this game just like everyone else and ######### like this really needs to stop.
Bully Squad? Butcher them. Problem solved. I love running into these guys. I have some wonderful videos of it. The best revenge is to just slaughter them all in the most humiliating way possible, record it, and post it later.

Actually, I don't give a hoot about cosmetics. I don't normally buy anything but the odd DLC if I like it. I think the fascination with cosmetics is kind of weird, but to each their own. I did, however, buy the most recent premium pass simply to support the company. All the ranting and raving by people complaining about the Halloween event, saying how horrible the company is for this and that inspired me to give my quiet support to it. By my count, by the end of the it I will have enough Auric cells to just buy the next one, and when that finishes, the next one after that. As far as a one time buy, it doesn't seem that bad to me.
-
Seriously? It doesn't upset people that he wears the faces of his victims, but wearing Claudette's face is over the line?

I disagree. I think it absolutely belongs in the game. However, I would tweak it in the same manner they did Keys, i.e. tie unlocking how many times it can be used to total Hooks (with Keys they tied it to Generators). I would do this:
4 Hooks = 1 Mori
5 Hooks = 2 Mori
6 Hooks = 3 Mori
7 Hooks = 4 Mori
The unlocked Mori can be used on anyone the Killer downs, whether they have been hooked so far or not. This would ensure that the Mori cannot tunnel someone immediately out of the game, and require a minimum of three more total Hooks to Mori everyone than the current Ebony Mori setup. It would encourage the Killer to go for more Hooks (in the same way Devour does) and it would also encourage Survivors to take more protection hits and play in a way to minimize Hooks for everyone's safety.

Ok variation is a good point. Would you say camping is a strong or a weak strategy? My perspective is that i do win streaks with different killers with no addons (yh i copied Otz) and i see camping as no consistent win strategy.
For the other point: i think camping gives the killer against new players a big advantage and there are two problems with it:
Its hard to counter for new players: they have no fun with the game and leave. Bad impact for game health.
Camping has a low skill ceiling. Killer will not get better and have no chance against good survivor.
I think Camping is niche. It is a strong strategy against ultra-altruistic Survivors, SWF in general. It is particularly effective with Stealth Killers, and is a natural fit for them. It is silly to complain about Stealth Killers using bait, because expecting them to Loop with you is asking them to work against their strengths. I had one group of people scream at me for ten minutes because my Spooky Myers kept taking them down. I wasn't technically camping because THEY never left the area. I could see them all at all times. Why would I leave? I never moved off further than required to get the grab when they went for the rescue. At 105% speed before PWYF, I have to ambush.
For some Killers it is actually BAD for them to Camp. They are so fast or so capable of working the map that every second they stand still is a horrible waste. The only time it is worth their while to camp is when all the Generators are done and they have nothing better to do.

None of the flash of white that accompanies BT happened. There were not protection hits taken to trigger Mettle of Man. We were nowhere near Hooks. I suppose if they hit the Syringe they could have been popping a health level back up, but for the timing to be that perfect would be really unlikely, particularly four times.

Moris have a place. Really? Can you explain that, otherwise when you really think moris in their current form should stay, it makes no sense to argue with you.
"Running in endless loops with YOU"
My arguments are not coming from a survivor perspective, i play both sides at Rank 1 for two years, i say that from a neutral player role perspective.
99% gens was a tactic too, when killers couldnt kick gens. This tactic got weakened. Only bc something exists, doesnt protect it from being changed. We dont talk about something so fundamental here. We argue whether theres enough reasons to change it or not.
And im saying it should bc it only works against bad players and its no fun for both players.
Now you can say why you think its fun or why its good to have something you can only use against bad players or how you can use it against good players.
And please argue only about my definition of camping with me. You quoted my comment, so you should have read it.
And I have no problem with the Mori being reworked by the way. I said the Mori has a place. I've made my own suggestions (as have many others) about how they should be tweaked. I think they should be tied to the number of total Hooks in the same way Keys are tied to the total number of Generators. :)

In my experience it only works in the matches, when the killer gets destroyed the whole game. When he struggles to get one hook then camping helps not much. But when theres still 4 gens left, when the killer starts camping most of the time survivors give up.
So when i have a team who is good enough to counter camping, then its an easy match anyway.
You surely need only two healthy survivors to get the unhook and it works except against Bubba etc.
Some people call everything camping. But i mean with camping, staying near the hook to kill one survivor when you could do better things to win the game. I would still be fine with this camping when i would play swf or with MMR.
But the question is why should this camping be in the game? Its no fun for each side, boring and you dont get better. Is it because its the only way a weak killer can do something in a match? Then we need a better matchmaking.
Which are the reasons this kind of camping should remain in the game? Would it for example be a solution when gen speed is doubled when the killer stays too long near a hook when no other survivor is near? What are the problems with that solution?
It is in the game for the same reason as any other tactic; it provides choice and variation. The Killers are not Bots, and wanting to reduce them to the Ghosts from old Pac Man, running in endless loops with you would be extremely boring. Camping, Tunneling, Slugging, and the Mori have their place.

1.You're too bad to know how to camp.
2.Survivors have a solution for camp as well as for their killers (insidious, save the best ...).
3.I play in red rank and because of the damn matchmaking system I can't deal with any of these because it gives me green ranks.
4.You said build a generator, clean the totem, there is not enough time to do all this, the killer will catch a new one and the camp game will start again.
5.If camping is involved, one person dies for the team, then the second one dies too, this doesn't change.
I also play Survivor and I find the time to do those things, with a little help from the other Survivors. I've also seen it accomplished on a regular basis when Survivors play against me. I'm simply telling you that it is not impossible, nor is it complicated.

It doesn't make sense. It only rewards the last person for failure. I get that the argument for the hatch is that you can be screwed by bad teammates. I get it. ######### teammates exist and I get them all the time when I play survivor. But if not a single gen was completed then none of the survivors deserves to escape. Nobody got anything done so why reward them? Even with bad teammates you should be able to at least finish one generator.
It isn't a reward for the Survivor. It is to keep the show interesting for the Entity. The hatch assures that there is still hope, even if faint. The Entity wants the game to be a white knuckle event until the very end, i.e. a reason to keep that last Survivor running.

Except this is DbD, where nothing is fair because RNG, power disparity, and perk disparity.
I don't think that is an issue unique to DbD. Things are as fair as they are ever going to be in a PvP game with this many variables. Personally, I think sweaty, hard fought, long matches are sign of parity, not disparity. Blow-outs, and matches over in 3-5 minutes are a clear indication that something is way off with the balance. The best we can hope for is to reach Ranks where most of our games are hard.

Competitive people prefer the rush of winning to everything else. It doesn't matter how much the odds were stacked in their favour, they can very easily trick themselves into thinking that the trial was completely fair.
If people want to try their hardest to win, whatever. It's a casual game, it means pretty much nothing to win or lose. But it is wierd that people come into DbD with a competitive mindset and insist that that should be the norm.
I don't consider this 100% accurate. Not all competitive people prefer the rush of winning to everything else. I compete largely with myself, and it is the challenge that interests me. That is why I want more accurate matchmaking. I don't want to get games where I consistently 4K because that means I'm not really in a worthy match. Winning is not satisfying at all if you don't earn it. Being competitive can be, at least for some people, about the journey and not the destination.
I agree, however, that there are people who just want to win, but they aren't really competitive people. People who just want it and aren't particular about how they get wins, aren't in it for the competition. I think people like that have real life issues, feel powerless, and use games like these to try and gain the illusion of being important somehow, somewhere. It is kind of tragic.
So, unlike most people who lament the sweaty, hard fought, try-hard matches, I kind of like them. When I have to fight that hard and that long, I know it was an actual competition. Win or lose, it was worthwhile and I will have had my fun in the fight.

I've seen this argument a lot, I just wish they would tell this to the people in red ranks because HOLY [BAD WORD] they play like their lives depend on it.
All games are "casual' by definition; they are GAMES. However, that doesn't have anything to do with how hard you play them. I watch people play casual games of tennis all the time, and they are doing their level best to win. The problem is that people online seem to be very subjective when it comes to the word "casual" and it seems to mean many things to different people.
The traditional meaning (before people started misusing the term) is a pick up game that is not scheduled, nor important to some larger competition, or official Ranking. A casual game is an "unofficial" game as far as tournaments are concerned. The term never has had anything to do with how hard the participants play, or whether or not fun is involved.

So, I went up against this doctor, who was I think rank 10 for some reason, and I got a five-gen run against him because of one thing. Window-tech. If you didn't know, after slinger was released, the window-tech timing was changed, and I recently re-learned it because I started playing survivor again. Anyways, I kept window-teching this dumbass, and he only caught on near the end of the match, but when he did, he turned right around and hit me. He facecamped me, and I died since my teamates left me. After the match, however, this guy turned out to be on ps4, like me, and he messaged me that he submitted a ticket to get me banned for using a broken "exploit." I asked what the exploit was, because I didn't know he was talking about the window-tech. So he told me that window-tech was a bannable exploit, and that I was getting banned for it. So now I'm confused. I always thought that window-tech was intended, since the devs obviously know it's there, since they changed the timing. So my question is: is window-tech actually bannable? Or was this guy just salty that he only got one hook because of this "exploit"?
Yeah, the guy was just mad and confused. Window tech can be infuriating but it is not an exploit.

So, to keep it short; the killer isn't straight face camping but they're terror radius camping. Its like they won't face camp you, but they won't let you out of their terror radius.
For the record, this isn't a strat; it's a crutch, muchlike NOED. This usually leads to tunneling, Slugging, and or straight face camping when the killer fails. I don't know why people call it a strat to win if you have to resort to camping yo get a kill; it's lowkey pathetic if you have to resort to that. It's not every day that I see people tunneling, face camping, or just going so low just to get a kill but its the ones who do that get really get me.
Usually, I see that in lower ranks and that's very often. I haven't been running into NOED often but I HAVE been running into campers and tunnelers. For the record, it doesn't make you any less of a bad killer if you have to resort to camping and tunneling to get your precious 4k; and no, again, it's not a strategy to win, it's a crutch.
A strategy is a plan something THAT you think up and roll out. To getting a better definition; this is what the dictionary says.
Strategy - Noun - a plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim.
Camping does NOT fall under this pretext because you didn't plan it out, you just said "Okay, so I suck or I want my 4k so I'll resort to just making the game unfun for everyone and get what I want." That's right, I'm calling ya out on it. So, don't try to call it a strat.
Back to my main focus, Terror Camping. Yeah, so this lowkey ain't really fun for many because if you don't have deliverance; you're screwed. It basically says "That's right, I'm camping and i'll slug you if you Come any closer." This apparently works out with killers like myers, ghost face and stealth killers in general. This leads to the survivor being put in the second phase, The team rushing the killer, the survivor gets tunneled and it's an easy kill for the killer; again, not a strat, it's a crutch. I've seen people DC from this either because that killer is tunneling them and has a Mori, or because they were basically tunneled the whole game. *Not fun.* Can we work to avoid doing this?
You aren't right about much in this post, so I'll try to be positive and comment on the one correct thing you said. Camping is not a strategy. A strategy encompasses an entire campaign, war, game, or in our case a match. Camping its a tactic, no more and no less. So I give you a point for understanding the difference between a strategy and a tactic. Beyond that, you don't know what you are talking about. Look, I get it. It is frustrating when you start playing this game and get the snot kicked out of you. All of us who play this game, started just where you are now. In time, you will be able to successfully play against Killers whether they Camp, Tunnel, Slug, or use the Mori. You will have no fear of NOED, or any particular Perk. You will reach point where those things don't get a rise out of you.
I want to point out that Camping, Tunneling, Slugging, and the Mori (as well as every single Perk available) are considered valid by the game designers and 100% acceptable. There is nothing scummy about them. None of these things are a "crutch" either. Other tactics include Herding (a far less understood but important one), Mind Games, Looping (either side), and Bricking, i.e. working it so that the Survivors 3-Gen themselves. I would argue that these are far more important than the ones that bother you; they are effective and win games. If I have a "crutch" as a Killer, it is probably Bricking. I love to herd my Survivors and help them choose the wrong Generators to do first. I'm more than willing to have a match last 20-30 minutes if in the end I will wear them down one by one because they can't get those last Generators without giving up hits and downs to me.
My strategy as a Killer (well with Myers) is attrition, and I will Camp, Tunnel, Slug, and Mori if appropriate in a given match. I will Herd my Survivors in every single match and try to Mind Game them, try to keep Looping to a minimum (I suck at it), and always try to Brick the map so that time is on my side. In the course of this I will often use Survivors as bait for other survivors, a honeypot. I actually break Camping down into more specific groups:
Squatting = Standing point blank at the hook.
Lurking = Hiding nearby (usually just outside of point blank) where neither the Hooked or the would-be saviors can see me.
Camping = Short range patrols which allow me to return to the hook in time to intercede in a rescue or punish the rescuer.
I suppose what you call "Terror Camping" is the same as what I call just plain Camping. Of course, I rarely have a terror radius (or much of one at least) with Myers. When I choose to Camp, regardless of type, I'm doing it for a reason, and it is always to support my overall strategy. Your one-dimensional way of looking at these tactics is not productive.

I never really got the appeal of Calm Spirit, do people run it to counter stuff like Infectious and Doc or do they just really like crows?
I use it to counter LOTS of things. But let me put it this way, if you watch the videos put up by the Ace killers like Otz, Monto, and their ilk, you will see that they spot Survivors by crows all the time without Perks. They can hear or spot that movement half a map away. That is why I started taking it. The fact that it helps against the Doc, Make your Choice, Iron Maiden, and a lot of other things besides, is just icing on the cake. I just wish there was a version of this Perk for the Killer. Crows warn my Survivors all the time.

Trust me. “Momentosis” with his kindred, spine chill and head on doesn’t survive 80% of his matches. I can guarantee you that much. Unless Momentosis is rank 16, he doesn’t survive 80% of his solo queue red ranks.
Players like Momentosis lie.
Oh I wasn't commenting or naming anyone specific. I'm just saying I've seen some crazy good Survivors that I'd believe 70% if they said that. But then again, while I'm a Red Rank Killer, I'm a far cry from Otz and his ilk. I've seen the superstar Killers make all Red Rank teams (that were really good) look like potatoes. But I suspect there are far fewer Superstars than there are guys in the Red Ranks like me. Thus, your average Superstar Survivor isn't having to go against the truly great Killers but once in awhile.
I know there are ones who beat that 20% estimate you gave. I think that is really low.

Calm Spirit as a Survivor, and Thrill of the Hunt as a Killer.

All those people saying “I play solo red ranks and I survive 70% of the time! 80% of the time!”
Yeah no. About a 20% of the time sounds legit. They’re basically lying.
I’d say just go with the meta, but the main points are learn the map and how to properly loop each different spot.
I don't know if I agree that they are lying. I play a Killer in the Red Ranks and there are Survivors that I run into that are amazing. There are superstars that I never kill in the match. Not all Red Rank Survivors are this good, just like all Red Rank Killers aren't Otz, Stalky Boi, or Monto types. But there are ones that I firmly believe can boast a 70%. :)
-
On "average" I'd guess (I have never done the math) I'd say 2-3K. We all have bad games now and then, and 4Ks do come up fairly often. But it feels as though I'm probably 2-3K most often.

In the lore it states:
Leatherface kills not from a desire to exert his will over others, to satisfy carnal urges, or even to quiet the voices in his head. He kills because he is scared. Scared that others will hurt him; scared that his family will be displeased with him, scared that their shared willingness to eat human flesh will be discovered.
While I'm not good at digging deep into lore, I can infer from that sample of text that Leatherface isn't entirely evil himself, he just wants to protect his family.
What do you think/know? Is there a part of Leatherface that can be considered good?
Try and keep the comments respectful.
Yes, he is evil. Good and evil are subjective concepts but the only thing we can base them on is our implied social contract with one another. Being scared isn't an excuse; everyone is scared from time to time. Evil from a human standpoint is a profound lack of empathy combined with a willingness to act on it. Leatherface, his whole family, are monsters and from a human standpoint entirely evil.

So quick catch up on me. Long time killer main, started SWFing to learn survivor, climbed to rank 4 as survivor, but knew I was boosted.
So I started my solo career. I have been hard stuck at rank 6 but all I face are red rank killers and my fellow survivors also tend to be red ranks.
My question, how often do you all survive? I went from probably a 70% survival rate as a swfmate to maybe 15% as a solo.
I noticed as solo, I don't even play to survive anymore, I play to hopefully pip.
So please tell me friends are you surviving often? And if so, how?
By in large this is because Team and Solo have not been split into two Ques. If they had been split, it would have been easier to balance SWF's 5th Perk Comms by simply unlocking a 5th Perk for the Killer when playing against them and/or adding an additional Generator requirement to open the gates.
Instead of splitting them, however, they attempted to balance things with Perks. This was not, in my opinion, the best method. Any Perk that moves to slow down the SWF advantage hits the Solo Que 3x (if not more) as hard. So to deal with the broken Generator rush created by SWF, they added a lot of oppressive things in to slow Generators down. Did it help? Sure. It moderately slowed down the SWF, but it absolutely strangled the Solo Que.
Due to the negative feedback loop, the Solo Que (and I play in it too) has become more selfish and less team oriented, further accelerating the the erosion of their teamwork and social contract. If you are just playing to Pip, you don't really care that much about the others. Do you see my point? It is a problem that will continue to get worse, until the CAUSE of the issue, not the symptoms are treated.
So to reiterate, Team and Solo will need to be broken up so that SWF can be balanced independently of Solo. Then those Perks which are strangling the Solo can be tweaked a bit to be less oppressive. They won't be required to be as strong as they are now because other more targeted means will have been applied. Until then, yeah... it is rough for us few, proud Solo who still try to fight the good fight.

I respect all you had to say, just a small note: “Reliable teammates” and “Solo” are mutually exclusive. You can’t have both in the same equation.
Well... I don't know that I would go this far. I play Survivor too and 3/4 of my games are in the Solo Que. My friends and I don't synch up as often as we would like. While I have gotten the odd, terrible teammates, for the most part I find that other Solos know what they are doing and can work very well. I wouldn't say they are mutually exclusive. I would say you just have to have realistic expectations and communicate well with animations.
