I never played with DS even when I was still a 100 hour baby, even though Halloween was the first DLC I bought.
Simply put you are an easy target and killers are "picking" on you because you are the weak link. Nothing to be done about it but to "git gud." Learn one of the main survival strategies in the game: stealthing/juking and looping.
- If you learn to stealth properly killer can't find you, and if they do you can lose them with a juke.
- If you learn to run them around in a chase they will usually give up if the chase lasts long.
If you intend to play survivor for any amount of time int his game you need to learn at least one of these two skills or the game is not going to be fun for you. You may want to try killer instead. And even if you don't, it's still highly-recommended to play killer as that will actually teach you how to do the two things above.
Learn your survivor fundamentals and don't rely on crutch perks like DS.
This hits the nail on the head; read it, internalize it, and practice it. Both Survivor and Killer success are driven by the fundamentals. Perks are nice but they are not what define a winner or loser in this game. If you look at the crazy good superstars like Otz, you will find he can take on challenges and go an insane number of games (winning) running no Perks. I'm not saying we will all turn into Otz, but I am pointing out that the most important skills are often the ones Survivors and Killers neglect.

I am not going to play a match against 4 man swf all using OoO with keys and flashlights on trapper...
They can sit there and watch me stand in a corner while i go do something more worthwhile with my time.
Why not? I am not being snide; I genuinely want to understand your mindset. In the real world, my sport of choice is Fencing (Foil and Sabre). When you go to Tournaments, you will generally get matched with people in your relative weight class so to speak, but due to the nature of the sport, it isn't uncommon to end up against someone truly legendary and impressive. Their rating has simply fallen due to not competing at a certain number of Tournaments with other highly ranked competitors. When this happens, I'm thrilled. It is a chance to learn something. Am I going to lose? Absolutely. That isn't the point.
When you pull a Team and they are playing all the SWF golden oldies, you can do what you describe and go stand in the corner like a dejected High Schooler who eats his lunch in a broom closet, or you can fight the good fight. Chances are you are going to lose, but all practice has value. You might even surprise yourself. The better your regular opponents, the faster you will increase in skill to strive with them. It is true in the real world and it is true in video games. The second I hit the Green Ranks I started getting mostly Red Rank SWF with the odd Purple thrown in. Matchmaking here is funny that way.
I call it the "Crucible" but there are lots of good names for what is essentially a trial by fire. Don't duck the games. Don't pass them by. Why would you? This is the best practice you are going to get, and in time you will be able to 4K those SWF. I can guarantee that. It is very satisfying to pay them back with the skills they, themselves, taught you through the school of hard knocks. And all that aside, why not get as many points as you can out of the match? Standing in the corner looking pathetic only punishes your BP and Emblem advancement. Every chase, every hit, etc. is a few more points. You might as well get a return on your time.

The devs refuse to do anything so if you are looking for them to fix the very mechanics people have complained about since release dont get your hopes up. They consider being toxic a pmay style
Camping, tunneling, and slugging are NOT mechanics. They are tactics which Killers utilize match by match based on need. The DEV don't "fix" them because there is nothing broken, i.e. that needs fixing. This game is based on agency, i.e. the choices that Survivors and Killers make. If you want to play Bots whose behavior is strictly constrained, there are literally thousands of games you can choose from.

I'm just sicka nd tired of every god dang thing having a battle pass these days even hearthcrap has one now like seriously #########. I would be hardpressed if only played one game and never got to enjoy an other one to just finish ONE of those gamee's stupid battle passes let alone a few of them. So I generally bot or afk them, and if they don't want people doing that, don't put long grindy ass battlepasses in every single game out there and expect people to pay for it on top of that since if you don't unlock most of it you just got RIPPED OFF. so yeah, I'ma afk that ######### if they expect me to pay for it since I'm not going to pay the employer to work for them, they would be expected to pay Me for the work.
Then ignore them? All they do is unlock cosmetics. Who cares about those? I come to play the game. Just take the free stuff and ignore the rest.

I don't know what I should do anymore? Every single round I get tunneled, camped or farmed. I want to play 1 round without ds but it's impossible. What should I do?
Just remind yourself that all of us also run into the same obstacles and adversity that you do. Some of us don't even run DS; I for example, NEVER run it. I'm a Red Rank Survivor now, albeit getting here was very slow as a Solo.
DS is like Dumbo's magic feather; it makes you feel better and believe you have an out, but all in all it does very little for you. Just working on looping, evading, and so on. I assure you that it gets better. Stop worrying about the game match by match. Make some long term goals, and inch your way toward them. Everything will fall into place in time.

Do you think breakable walls benefit killers?
They can, depending on your familiarity with the map. I am very selective about which ones I break and when. Sometimes you want the Survivors to have to go the long way around and thus can cut them off and know exactly where they are going because their options are limited.

WARNING: This is an incredibly long post and there will be a tl;dr in the end in case you don’t want to go through the whole thing.
Context: I’m a Pig main that likes to run off meta perks on killers occasionally just for fun, like impossible skill checks doctor or anti-heal legion. I also prefer to play chill, such as doing my best not to tunnel and go for 12 hooks. In general I prefer to challenge myself with off meta builds and killers as well as trying my best to farm as much BP I can as well as getting 12 hooks. I’m from Brazil and I play in the South America server (which is a pretty toxic one).
A few weeks ago, I get into a lobby with 3 flashlights, so I equipped lightborn just for fun because I find it funny when survivors try to camp their teammates to get a flashlight save just to realize the killer has lightborn. Throughout the match I purposefully didn’t look at walls to allow survivors to go for the save, nodding my head when they failed to get it because I had lightborn. It turns out they were very skilled and still managed to get a 2 man escape through the exit gates, but I had a very fun time nonetheless and I did my best.
However, when I got into the endgame chat they began to BM me HEAVILY for using lightborn, saying that I was completely stupid for using it and that was essentially playing with only 3 perks. I tried to explain to them that I used it just for fun and said that they couldn’t complain since they were all using DS + UB and still managed to get 2 people killed. This didn’t work though, and they kept saying that using lightborn against flashlights is not fun, that I was scared of flashlights and didn’t know how to face a wall and claimed that they were obviously using DS + UB because they are meta perks.
The argument started to get progressively more heated and they wanted to bring the conversation to Discord. I accepted since I had plenty of free time that day and I wanted to understand how these people thought process worked. I discovered that they were actually a professional tournament squad and had already played in some minor tournaments before, so they had a lot of experience and skill in the game and claimed they weren’t taking the previous game seriously and were just trying to get some flashlight saves.
I began to explain to them that I like to challenge myself with weaker killers and off meta builds, and that I do my best to get 12 hooks and farm BP, sometimes even going easy on survivors so everyone can have a good time. I also explained that they couldn’t possibly determine what is fun and what is not since fun is subjective, and I’m the only one capable of judging if using off meta perks and playing in my own way is fun for me or not. However, they insisted that I was being stupid and that I HAD to use meta perks and meta killers if I wanted to have fun and win against a survivor team who is playing competitively. We talked and talked, more and more people started to join the conversation but it wasn’t leading anywhere, so they invited me to play a few matches where they would play super sweaty and prove me their point.
I accepted since I’m always up for a challenge even knowing that I can’t win it; I strongly believed that the experience would count. I played a few matches as Pig and Demogorgon (my favorite killers) and used my regular builds against them and I obviously got absolutely destroyed, since I’m not skilled enough as killer to win against a tournament squad, even though I’m decent player in general. They kept telling me that it was impossible for me to win against them and that I should use super strong killer perks and add ons if I wanted to stand a chance.
They began to tell me that I should do anything in my power to win, going as far as saying that I should tunnel and camp indiscriminately (even people with RBT on their heads) and use head pop add ons for pig (a.k.a Tampered Timer + Crate/Skech), which are strategies I freaking DESPISE, because I don’t find it fun neither for me nor the survivors (literally just down someone once and kill them through a head pop, WOW, so much fun). While they weren’t theoretically wrong, considering that they had tons more skill and experience than I did and were playing with tournament efficiency, they repeatedly told me that it wasn’t FUN not to use meta perks and killers and that I should play as sweaty as I can just to have FUN in the game.
It turns out that the games proved nothing to me, I simply couldn’t agree that I needed to play like a total shithead tryhard in every single game just to have fun. It seemed to me that these people cared only about winning at all costs, and every single strategy, perk or add on that doesn’t provide the upmost possibility to win are completely unacceptable in their eyes, and players who doesn’t equip themselves with tournament efficiency are stupid. I just couldn’t agree with them, so I just wrapped up the conversation and went to bed.
In the next morning I wake up to see a message from them saying “hey bro, have you changed your mind yet?”. I then proceeded to formally explain most points I listed above and the reasons why I didn’t agree with them, and the RESPONSE I GOT… Jesus, was truly something. One of them replied claiming stuff like:
“You need to understand that the game is balanced in a way that is made for the survivors to win, doesn’t really matter if you manage to win consistently against solo queue with crappy killers and perks, if you get queued against a good swf you WILL lose as long as they do gens and play efficiently. I don’t want to judge the way you play the game, but you just make life easier for the survivors for no reason…”
And then he said something that offended me quite a bit:
“To be honest I believe that you DID at some point use strong meta perks but are so bad that you kept losing even though you used them, so you started to play off meta so you could use “having fun” as an excuse if you lost the match, pfff, “having fun” by using #########!”
That’s right, the guy went as far as assuming that I played off meta just so I could use it as an excuse for playing bad (even though I clearly don’t). This offended me more than I think it should, and I them wrote a gigantic wall of formally written arguments explaining why I thought what he wrote was completely preposterous.
I said that fun is completely subjective and that they can’t possibly dictate the one and only way to have fun in DBD, that there is no problem being altruistic with your opponent and that everyone should play the way they want, and it doesn’t mean they are bad in the game. If only the meta perks and killers were the ones that provided fun for players then everything else would be pointless. That playing in a tournament level isn’t the one and only way to have fun in the game.
In general, I did agree with some of his points but I explained all of mine and why I think their point of view about fun is completely flawed in many aspects. But unfortunately, all they replied to me after that were emojis and stuff like “Meh, this guy is hopeless”. So after seeing that I wasn’t going to change those guys’ minds I just left the server altogether.
If there is a thing that I’ve learned through this whole experience is how corrupted some people got in this game. These people are the refined result of the ever-growing amount of victory thirsty players, devoid of empathy, where absolutely nothing else matters but winning. It was pretty sad seeing such a reality. I believe I’ve never seen @NomiNomad post about how the lack of empathy is holding this game back become so relevant through only one experience.
TL;DR: I used lightborn in a match with 3 flashlights; the survivors started flaming me for using it; it turns out they were a tournament swf team and they decided to bring the conversation to Discord; they begin to tell me that using lightborn is stupid and that I should be using meta perks to win; I say that I used it for fun; they said that it isn’t fun and I was stupid for thinking that way and that I should still use meta perks; they invite me to play several matches to prove their point; I get stomped on all of them since they played on a tournament level, but I still said that I should not be forced to play in the meta to have fun in this game; they claim that I should indiscriminately tunnel, camp and use op perks and add ons if I want to stand a chance against strong swf teams and that this is the only way to have fun in the game; I disagree with them and go to sleep; the next day they asked me if I have changed my mind and I say that I didn’t and explained my reasons not to; they then replied with a somewhat rude text going as far as insulting me and assuming things that weren’t true; I then posted a formal wall of text explaining my points and why I think fun is subjective and shouldn’t be limited to playing in a tournament level; they reply with emojis and say that I’m hopeless; I realize I can’t change their mind and leave the server; I come to the conclusion how lack of empathy and an ever growing voracity for winning is affecting more and more players and consequently ruining the game.
I would simply have said, "well for a wasted Perk it seemed to fix your little red wagons. Good luck and have fun in your next matches.... byyyyiiiiie."

Again, just a cherry picker... in fact it could very well do the opposite... you're only seeing this one way because it benefits killer mains.
If the killer doesn't see any one using BBQ, they assume that the hook is being swarmed and stay around camping the hook. :/
You realize this right? I love that you're defending a skill you know absolutely nothing about... you're just using it to favor your argument. It's a garbage perk and needs to be nerfed... use it for the extra points, you don't need wall hacks.
Whatever you say Champ. :) That's me... I don't know nuthing about nuthing.

Im a survivor main, playing killer sometimes, im green rank killer and im ok with only two killers : legion and clown.
I was so excited for clown update but now im feeling disappointed...
First the new bottle : the speed boost effect is not that great and it takes sooo long to activate, between 3 and 4 secondes. Im asking why the new bottle turn white to yellow but the first one is activated immediatly ? The white gas should be removed and turn yellow immediatly. And why survivors can get the speed boost ? I really dont understand the point. And why bottles share the same charges ?
Second the addons rework : one addon was my favorite, the one that makes survivors exhausted a true powerful addon. Now it doesnt exist anymore. New ones, they are not that great, except aura reading one. Whats the point of switching colors if the second bottle takes time to activate ? Too easy to read for survivors and 0 trick...
Yes, maybe im not that great at killer, yes maybe i dont know how to use new bottle correctly. But I feel like I dont want to play clown anymore, im missing the old one already...
Is there clown mains here feeling the same ? Or some people who can give me tips ?
For me now it feels like more a nerf than a buff.
RIP mister puddles, it was a great time with you.
PS : sorry for my poor english
Clown has gotten a massive buff. First of all, he reloads faster. The new bottle is actually extremely potent, but it has a steep learning curve. In a way, the new Clown is a lot like Nurse; his power is complex and requires pinpoint timing and planning, but once you master it you are going to be an absolute MONSTER. The loss of the Exhaustion Add-On was worth faster reloads alone. If you have any doubts, watch Otz play around with the new Clown. He uploaded a video of it during the playtest to demonstrate how to use it. I tried it too, and it works.

I always hear the argument about how BBQ is used MAINLY for extra BP but this is a fallacy. Killer mains want dev's / survivors to believe this but the real reason is, they love wall hacks and praying on noob survivors.
The game is already tough enough on new players, why should every survivor have to waste time always hiding in a locker before a killer hooks someone? This is stupid and counter-intuitive to the way the game should be played... which is any way you want, everyone has developed a PTSD of sorts every time a killer hooks a survivor and it's dumb, it forces the player base to play a certain way and I'm tired of it.
While a killer is hooking and carrying another survivor this is one of the only chances survivors get to recover and counter play... but we're always forced in to lockers while someone is being hooked from half way across the map... this idea is ridiculous nonsense at this point... this perk literally makes no sense at all btw from a lore / game mechanic standpoint, just saying.
If killers want to use BBQ for BP, it should be used for that and only that... this wall hack crutch perk need to go... The killers have eyes, they can use them, and if they can't, they should just play another game. You might as well just allow 3rd party wall hacks to be used because as far as I'm concerned, this perk is no different.
This is hilarious. You do know that Barbecue & Chili is a Perk that actually helps you get camped and tunneled LESS right? It provides the Killer with somewhere DISTANT to go and rewards him/her with BP for doing so. Without some idea of where prey might be located, more Killers would wait in the vicinity of the hook for the inevitable rescue. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. You should be grateful, thrilled even, that this Perk exists.

Look, I'm normally all for testing out new stuff, but some things don't need tested. The animations I'm sitting on, I don't have much of an opinion except they make me laugh. Undying I'm also waiting on to see if Undying/Devour is going to be great or terrible. Clown I'm giving some space as well.
But it's a UI. You only need a look to see how it works. And this one covers a significant portion of the important part of your screen and draws your attention, instead of focusing the necessary info in one area, in a game where paying attention is key. It is so, so easy to understand why people don't like it, even though it's technically giving you more info than before. You don't need to wait and se show good or bad a UI is, it's not that complicated. It's like if they suddenly switched everyone's control inversion settings and locked them in place - after already trying to do that on the PTB and having almost everyone hate it.
I don't disagree. I'm not a fan of it, but I'm going to see what I can do with it scaled. I also gave feedback on it that it is too busy. :)

Honestly atm I'm liking the new UI just because of UI scaling so it's not in my face 24/7 during the match and I love how the updated maps are looking. I wish those who felt so strongly about not loving what the devs have put out would calm down tho.
I haven't tried the scaling yet. I was about to and got kicked offline, I'm guessing for the weekly maintenance.

Yeah but now is WAAAAAY worse. Played 3 games AS SURVIVOR and we got 4 escapes every single match.
It's just 100% safe pallets everywhere.
At least before was a "bunch" of safe pallets, now is "all of safe pallets"
And I have played my Myers five times and gotten four 4Ks and one 3K so far. Did they balance it so it isn't so Killer-sided? Absolutely. It is not overcorrected the other way, however, and I'm happy to say it has been a blast. I am much more for them better balancing the indoor maps than losing them.

Hey,
don´t get me wrong but im so happy that Devs killed undying Ruin combo. It´s awesome now and if killers play with other combinations of undying the totems get cleared very fast. *thumbs up*
In fairness, you should have dropped the combo a month or so ago when they first said they were going to make a change. Why? It was time to move on and find something else. There are different combinations that still provide good regression. Ruin by itself still has some weight and even Ruin + Undying if you want it is better than no Undying at all. In the end, there is no substitute for Generator pressure. This is difficult at the start of the game before you have a few hooks, but Corrupt Intervention is still the workhorse it has always been, and I highly suggest it.
-
I enjoyed the update, so far, to Gideon. Although, in fairness, I think it hurts my Spooky Myers a bit as I used the darkness on the second floor to great effect before. :) Even so, I think the map is much better and more neutral, i.e. it is no longer Killer-sided. It is open enough and has enough new loops that I found my first official game on it quite challenging. My gal just had her first game on it too and said she likes it as well.
In regards to the new UI I've no opinion yet. It is too soon. I don't like having to look around so much for concise information, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

You've lost the argument, you address things I never raised and you fail to address the things I did. Since you're trying to be smart, let me educate you. The us versus them argument is the idea that the the devs favor one role over another when it comes to balance changes or adjustments or people that are very exclusive in their views on roles. I never said that nor implied it. I did however state the very clear fact that these changes are exclusively from the perspective of the killer. With that said, the cornerstone of my feedback is that they aren't making quality or balance changes from the perspective of the survivor regarding DS. My position on DS has nothing to do with this upcoming change. It has to do with the fact that imo DS doesn't do enough to deal with what is perceived as the stated goal of the perk. Before you reply, make sure you understand what you're responding to.
Whatever you say champ. ;) Again, since DS is unacceptable to you, don't take it. Problem solved.

It does exactly what I state which is nothing. Nothing has changed about the perk in a fundamental way. And don't lecture me about us versus them, I never engaged such stupidity. My point stands and is very clear, not sure why you decided to write a novel. these changes only provide benefit to the killer, and there's no consideration for the perspective of the survivor. The survivor's the one that gets tunneled, yet this perk provides almost no relief. Unless the tunnel is limited to 60 seconds, you go down and are picked up within that time frame and you successfully succeed the skill check once per match. Then yes it provides some relief but if the tunnel falls outside of that very limited and specific perimeter, you're screwed.
For someone who claims they aren't engaging in an "us versus them" argument, you sure spend a lot of time doing it. :) But suit yourself... I suggest you not take it since it is so bad in your eyes. Or, go find a game you like.

well tbh I'm not for suiciding but if I'm in a game and say I get chased for the first three minutes of a match and not a single gen gets done and if i get put on hook and nobody is working on a gen after me running the killer about for a few minutes then I'm just going to call it quits because so much time has went on and the game has barely progressed so its just a waste of time, I can understand if you are new to the game but I would just like it if teammates could just be productive during the time that I get chased
This frustration I can understand completely. I've been in this position too, but I still stick it out. Why? The current matching system is a nightmare. I have no way of knowing if they are experienced players or potatoes. Everyone started out ignorant in this game and the only way they got better was by playing the game and getting practice. I consider my two minutes on the hook to be what I give back to the community, time resources put forward so whomever can get some practice and hopefully get better so I run into the idiot behavior less. I have no doubt that when I got started I was the potato being cursed by the guy/gal on the hook. We caused the same misery when we got started, so I figure we also have to pay our dues.
That being said, it is rather annoying to find out later that said morons were Red Ranks like me, but that is still beside the point. I don't know what level my fellow Survivors are so I give them the benefit of the doubt and donate that two minutes of my time because I might need someone else to give me that two minutes in a match later when I'm the one desperately trying to finish a Generator. I think the rather unique, asymmetrical design of DbD is part of the disconnect. Most video games are entirely ME-centric, i.e. you care only about yourself and don't really have to rely on others. Even those that do require teamwork, tend to be symmetrical. This means you still have a lot of leeway to play your own game and ignore your team. Some of that weight has been mitigated by even-matchmaking. Dead by Daylight doesn't do that. You are chained to your fellow Survivors and they do hold your life in their hands, just as you have them by the short hairs too. It takes a certain maturity to accept this change and embrace it to win.

It’s actually funny because killing yourself on hook ruins other peoples fun and killers get really righteous about this and say how bad it is to do/it should be punished.
Yet camping and tunnelling ruin someone else’s game too but because it’s a ‘viable strategy’ it’s completely fine and should be punished.
The hypocrisy is real.
I'm not sure you understand the definition of hypocrisy because you are using it here incorrectly. Please allow me to retort:
- If you are a Survivor and suicide on the hook you are ruining/diminishing the chances of your teammates, i.e. the people who are on the same side as you. You are doing the opposite of your objective.
- Killers who tunnel, camp, slug, or Mori are doing their job; they are supposed to be trying to kill you. That is their objective.
There is no hypocrisy here because these are apples and oranges as far as situations go. It doesn't matter if it is a Killer or a Survivor commenting about the behavior on this Forum, suiciding on the hook hurts the other Survivors MORE. Your attempt to somehow make this conversation about something else is a logical fallacy.

its funny to see how much the " your screwing your team " card is played....social pressure....yeah right, thats the great part of spectating a game when you left....doesn't take that long mostly, and always a killer who is just out there to make the game as fun as he can.....survivors leaving with 3 to 8000 bloodpoints, level down or a drop gone....best to control this yourself so there is no one else to blame but yourself...
It isn't a card; it is a fact. Survivors who disconnect (or suicide on the hook) are screwing over the other Survivors. There is no gray area on that point. Quit trying to make this an "us versus them" argument, when it isn't. Most Killers also play Survivor. If you score poorly and or lose a lot, you have no one to blame but yourself. Nobody is responsible for how well you do (or how much fun you have) but yourself. I really do want to help you, so I'm not going to sugarcoat this for you. You will never get better at this game, nor will you have all that much fun until you own your own problems and quit trying to blame anything or anyone else for your failures. This is a PvP game with specific, defined roles and they have mutually exclusive goals. If that isn't the kind of game you enjoy, why are you here? Expecting people to redefine the game for your personal preferences is both unreasonable and insane.
-
How are old are you? Seriously? I'm not trying to make you feel bad; you joined this thread. Or did you forget that. This game has people who try to kill and try to survive. It is right there in their role names. That is the ONLY game, i.e. the objective. If you give up, like a little coward, every time things don't go your way, you are rewarding the KILLER. What do you not get about that? So even if we use your insane logic and say the Killer is at fault, why are you punishing the other Survivors? :)
If I am the Killer, I'm going to kill you. I will use whatever legal tactic the game allows if a specific match calls for it. By definition, if it is legal, valid strategy, it is playing fair. So far, YOU are the only person advocating a behavior which violates the agreement we all make to come play. Disconnecting is a ban-worthy offense. Suicide on the hook is legal and valid, but it is also the selfish, coward's way out. I agree you CAN make that choice. Just don't try to pretend it is anything OTHER than what it is...

your right, i'm the problem and should listen to you and stop playing the game....its not the killer who decided to make this game ######### for all other players....a bit the same as a friend of you comes up with a black eye and wants you to punish the guy who gave him that black eye, but then you find out your friend punched this guy first....clearly a case for you were your friend with the black eye is the good guy. and stop playing the your screwing your team card, i dont do social pressure....your not doing it for your self but for others crap. go to the source not the outcome!!
It is the Killer's job to kill you. No one is responsible for your "fun" but you. If you don't enjoy the game, find another. If you Que to play Survivor you are telling the other Survivors you are there to play and back them up. When you fail in this, it is THEM you let down. The Killer doesn't care; you made his/her life easier. You are rewarding the Killer (whom you inaccurately blame for your OWN problems). Own your failures. You are never going to get any better at the game with your attitude. Blaming others for your own personal failures is the worst way to approach anything.

You could ask yourself this....whats more toxic...this game and his players or the people who defend there actions. But lets brake it down, the discussion is clearly about the actions players make, so where does it start. Does a gamer enter a game with the thought to kill himself on the first hook he gets to see? nope, or does a player starts up a game just to dc as soon as he has the chance? So why does it happen? Well lets take a close look to most games we are playing...as a survivor 80% of your games will be against killers who absolutly ruin this game, slaughter whole teams before they can even do anything, in other words a waste of time and a waste of your ranking progress. But how comes that other players complain about this and think they have the right to decide how you as a player use the product that you paid for? I dont mind having these games, i just leave, on the hook or with a ban, clearly the killer has chosen to make this game suck for al other players involved ( talking about destroying the game for other witch is the main comment of most here when you do it as a survivor) Even as a killer you will be matched up against many players that you wont catch or see, also a reason to dc for some sinds the killer cannot suicide himself on the hook. Maybe we should all stop bitching about who is right or wrong, its a killer and a survivors choice on how he or she wants to play or not play his or hers game. My experience as a survivor...all games i died on the hook ended fast and just as i saw coming, so there is never harm done to other players be me quiting the game, but only by the player that was the reason why i just died on the hook.
stop bitching or start punishing both party's involved, but thats not the case so just stop bitching
You are precisely the problem. If you don't want to play the game, find another one. Why don't you realize that you are screwing over the other Survivors every time you do this. If you start a game, finish it.

I don’t get alot of time with my full time job to enjoy games, I play both sides, killer and survivor, If a game looks like its a for sure loss, I am moving on, I rather get on to the next game then drag a rough game out. Everyone else is entitled to do so as well. The only hook self sacrifice i can agree that is scummy is simply just on ones first hook with no one else hook, obviously there are times where it is rather unsportsmanlike to just give up but then there are times were it can be justified. Me personally i only get about 2 hours a day to play so if a game is going south hard, I’m moving on to the next one.
And I can respect this statement with support as to why you feel that way. I suppose the reason I started this thread is because MOST of the suicides on hook that I encounter (both as a Killer and as a Solo) are on the very first hook. I "wish" it was more a case of someone doing a late game triage, but that simply is not that common. The suicides I get are always the first hook, and it kills me to then have to go through the 3v1 game against poor Survivors who have no chance.

No Mither has lots of problems in its current form:
- It is telegraphed to the Killer that you have it because you start injured.
- The Killer isn't stupid and knows they haven't hit you yet, so they don't just slug you.
There are more but these are key. If the Perk were to be reworked it should do the following:
- Someone with No Mither, while already injured, doesn't LOOK injured.
- If hit they don't immediately fall down. They will take on the look of being injured and be able to continue acting for a number of seconds based on current Rank, i.e. 6, 8, and 10 respectively. Once time runs out (or they are hit again within said time frame) they fall down into the dying state. This at least gives them a chance to keep up the ruse of not having the Perk.
- Once they get back up, either because of the Perk or being healed, they go back to LOOKING uninjured.
Can the Killer figure it out? Sure, but it at least lets the No Mither Player start the game with some mystery. It allows, for example, at least one surprise Dead Hard if the two Perks are in combination. When it boils right down to it, this Perk is "Unbreakable" with unlimited uses that you pay for by playing the game injured all match. The least they can do to make it useful is allow some level of mystery/cover that you have the Perk.
-
Well, I'm not saying it is good but you can kind of figure out what is happening. Add their Ranks together and divide by four. Most of the time you will find the result of averaging the Survivor's Ranks comes within 1-2 Ranks of your own. Coincidence? Could be but I find it happens really often. There are exceptions of course, and much more pronounced for the people still in the Potato Ranks, but overall once you hit Green and up, the average of the Survivors is almost always within 1-2 Ranks of your own.

Game looks unwinable, there is a claud selfcaring in corner, 5 gens left, two dead hook and Dwight just got found in a locker. Yea I don’t give two craps I’m out peace. Don’t get on someone about ego and being selfish when in the end. Its. Just. A. Video. Game.
It is just a game, but it is also a measure of character. All of us, I would assume, got the same lessons in good sportsmanship in Kindergarten and on up. I'm a Killer main (although I play almost as much Solo Survivor) and I only benefit from people suiciding on the hook. As a Player, however, I'm interested in playing the game as it was intended. Yes, there are times when your teammates are dead weight. The urge to say "screw you guys, I'm going home" Cartman-style is going to be strong. I'm not going to lie and say I've never felt the temptation myself; of course I have. What I'm saying is that in the end it is two minutes of our time, no more and no less to sacrifice on the Hook. Don't think of doing it for the dead weight in a particular match; think of doing it for yourself and the game on the whole. There are going to be matches where YOU wish they had held on just a little longer to buy you the time you needed to finish that last Generator (or whatever). When the standard is to finish the game, we all profit. Aside from that, that two minutes is your personal brand. Are you a stand up guy/gal, or not? I do understand the frustration of being on the hook; I feel it just as intensely (if not more so being a rather competitive kind of person) than anyone else. I had to STOP taking Kindred specifically so I could not see my teammates; I decided I was happier NOT knowing how they were spending their time. :) How we conduct ourselves in games, just as how we conduct ourselves anywhere else, is how we define ourselves. For me, at least, the odd two minutes of time on the hook is worth doing.

No because the perk was never effective at dealing with tunneling. I'm all for changes that narrow the scope of the perk but all of these changes are strictly from the perspective of improving the experience for the killer. I really thought the screenshot was a joke because it's exactly what a lot of killer means have wanted. There's no improvement for the survivor, the victims of being tunneled whom this perk is supposed to be remedial and provide some relief. For the survivors that abuse the perk, I totally understand why. Most killers that tunnel will then go out of their way to circumvent DS so it makes sense that survivors will go out of their way to gain utility out of it.
No. I'm sorry but the change doesn't do anything of the sort. DS remains exactly as good at being a deterrent for tunneling as before. The only thing it doesn't allow you to do now is jump on an objective in the Killer's face. For the record, I am a Killer main (although I play almost as much Survivor in Solo) and I suggested that DS activate after every hook, not just the first. Please do not try to make this into an "us versus them" argument; it isn't. Most Killer mains also play Survivor, and all anyone is interested in is a fair version of this (and every) Perk.
My own suggestion was as follows:
- DS activates after every hook that doesn't kill you.
- It last for 60 seconds or until deactivated.
- It is deactivated by interacting with your environment in anyway aside from avoiding the Killer.
- DS will not activate during the End Game Collapse, but will run out its time if activated prior and continues during.
In short, I (and most Killer mains actually) were suggesting DS be useful after every hook and not be dependent upon there being an Obsession. The DEV decided to go with the more Draconian approach. I can only assume they have some stats which had more weight on them than us.

Ummmm... no. There are terms to playing the game, which you agreed to, and they are crystal clear about what the company can (and will) do. If you have connection issues, fix them.

Oh boy this is too good.
No one's backing down, I'm just not taking you seriously
I don't even know who you are and you've become so riled up because I disagreed with your opinion and trying to 1v1 me in a game as if this is some honour duel.
I play the game how I want, and I want to improve in various aspects of it. Not sure how bringing that up is a point or anything.
Also, my saying "...and I thought I took it seriously" is meant to highlight that I overestimated how serious I was compared to other people, not that I did not take the game seriously in any respects.
I don't care enough about you to go out of my way to try and validate myself to some ape trying to intimidate me over the internet, particularly one that's being irate and wacky. As I said before since you've deep dived into my posts, you can dig for the screenshots of when I actually did post it.
I actually would've liked continuing the topic at hand but I'm not really interested in arguing with someone being so loony.
Also, I'll continue talking about what I want, and you can die mad about it since it bothers you so much that you follow my posts like some lonely puppy. I hope you continue with it.
I can't believe someone is asking to 1v1 cowshed unironically LMFAO
Riiiiiight, you aren't backing down... just not taking it seriously. Somehow it amounts to the same thing. I never said it would be a 1v1. I said let's get a custom game going and let people spectate. We will fill out full Survivors and a Killer. The point is for YOU to prove your credentials. You make a lot of bold claims in your threads; I'm giving you a chance to demonstrate why we should place any value on anything you say. :) That is a unique thing about DbD and this Forum, we have an easy way for anyone to PROVE anything they say. Custom games exist. The ability to allow spectators exists. Everything can be recorded and reported here and placed up on the internet for posterity. In short, I'm saying it is time for you to show why we should listen to you. :) So far, your response has been a childish attempt to avoid doing so while not admitting you are backing down. That isn't fooling anyone.

If a killer is camping and sitting idle at a hook, I do not blame that survivor for killing themselves on hook.
Why? Because not only is that boring, but in a time when queues are at their worst, waiting for 15 mins just to play sacrificial lamb for that match isn’t going to feel like you got your money’s worth. People want to play the game.
I personally don’t do it, but I don’t blame others for doing it. The world is not going to end because someone suicides on hook.
Keeping it simple.
And I can respect this answer, short and clearly supported. I'm glad to hear you don't actually do it though (suicide on the hook). This demonstrates that while you are a good sport, you can show some empathy for those who are not being one. I'm not that forgiving, not anymore. You and I can agree to agree in that we don't do it (suicide on the hook) and agree to disagree about understanding those that do. In the end, it is two minutes of our time, to stick it out on the hook, which might buy those other Players a chance. Remember, they also stuck it out in the Ques and would probably like to have every chance afforded to them possible.

Oof, and I thought I took the game seriously.
I'm not familiar with who you are but you seem to keep a track record of my posts. I posted screenshots somewhere of my ranks, you can dig through it yourself since you seem to be so interested in me.
I'm hoping this is sarcasm because if not this is pure comedy
I see; it is so appropriate that you would cry off when the gauntlet is thrown down, here in a thread about taking the coward's way out. I remember everything I read; it is both a blessing and a curse. In that other thread, where you also behave poorly, you claimed to be a Red Rank Player. I'm giving you a chance to prove it. And now you claim to "magically" not take the game that seriously. Do you think that fools any of us? You took it seriously enough to be boring and argue with people for post after post when they were trying to help you. Me, I do take the game seriously. I take everything I do seriously. I suppose that is a fundamental difference between us.
To answer your earlier question, although I don't expect you to understand this either, there are only three things you need to do to meet the minimum of being a good sport in Dead by Daylight; they are:
- Don't cheat, either by hacks or lag spikes.
- Finish your games, i.e. don't disconnect or suicide on the hook.
- Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat, i.e. no salt in end game chatter.
That's it. If you feel these three simple things are too hard for you to manage, why are you here playing Dead by Daylight, i.e. the game you "claim" to not take seriously? Why did you take the time to create an account over here on the Forum and assail us with your nonsense? Why claim to be a Red Rank when most of us can tell exactly where you are by what you talk about? And last but not least, when given a chance to prove your mettle, why are you looking for an out? You don't actually have to answer these questions; we know everything about you already. They are rhetorical. But it is time for you to either put up, or shut up as the old saying goes. Are you ready to put some skin in the game and prove your credentials?

Heh. If you don't know or understand good versus bad sportsmanship, nobody can teach them to you now. You make me laugh; there is literally nothing I can say which makes you look worse than you do yourself. Please go on, with every post here and in those other threads you are doing a bang up job. This game is meant for fun. For whatever reason someone decides if they don't want to stay in said game, they can do what they want. They are under no obligation to be a good teammate as they are playing the game for themselves and their own entertainment, particularly solo queue.
This notion that players have to follow some sort of ethics strikes me as being entitled that you're almost mandating people play in a certain way. People play this game how they want, especially in solo queue.
You're being dramatic by calling someone a coward for not wanting to play a trial that you want them to.
You can have your opinion but not really sure why you're trying to be dogmatic and superimpose your morality onto others. Nothing you said is convincing enough to be anywhere close to objective.
You do not learn from every game. Not every game is beneficial. You are under no obligation to do anything in this game for the sake of others if you don't want to.
People who try to push morals on this game are the worst.
What a shock; you are one of those people who doesn't care a fig about your teammates and will abandon them at the drop of a hat if "you" aren't having enough fun. It is kind of funny hearing you be honest, admitting that you feel NO OBLIGATION to be a GOOD teammate, quoting your own words there. Yes, I'm the one who sounds entitled and selfish by expecting you to honor the basic obligations of good sportsmanship. I'm so unreasonable like that. :)

Both DS and OoO were absolutely ridiculous on solo survivors, specifically the ones that would absue DS. OoO is just too much info for someone that has full control over it's use (meaning they can mitigate the downside and honestly render it nonexistent), and there's nothing fair about the killer getting a 5-second stun after you unhooked your teammate, worked on a gen, broke a totem, etc.
Seriously, even when I died OoO itself massively increased the escape rates of my teammates because of all the time the killer would spend on me.
Yep; in the hands of a SWF and their 5th Perk (Comms) OoO is a Rosetta Stone for Survivors. I'm glad it is getting tweaked. I think this new iteration will actually be quite useful for the Solo Survivor by comparison since they can control (or at least know) when they are going to be visible. It allows for information gathering and thus useful counter play. It is my personal suspicion, which will have to be tested when released, that it will be better for Solos and see more use among them. I think you are dead on here.

Oversimplification, and not my point.
I highlighted how even when memorising totem spawns, you are still not doing the foremost objective: doing generators. You are giving the killer free pressure for a perk they may or may not have.
Survivors do not do totems either in my experience. Having to manually check each totem is wasting even more time as you don't know how many totems were done in solo queue.
The conversation is not about should NO ED be changed. It's about the sassy response of "just do totems" when it's not always, and often not that simple, particularly in solo queue. The response in and of itself is not inherently sassy but when people complain about NO ED and whatnot and get mocked at as if it's their individual fault not all five totems were done when it's meant to be a team experience, and it's often not. That's my point.
Similar logic of "just do bones" can be applied to killers have ire about DS. I can simply say "just wait 60 seconds" or "eat the ds so they don't have it anymore". That's technically the solution to DS as killer, just as "just do bones" is to survivor, but as we can very clearly see the conversation around DS was more nuanced than that because it actually is simple as "wait 60 seconds or eat ds" in every single game.
Your response isn't really rebutting or sharing new information either, as I basically already stated survivor teammates in solo queue are a very large part of the problem. There was no discussion about NO ED as a perk, and I'm not sure why you brought that up in your first response.
Lastly, my point about "not sure if they have it or not" is that it's wasting time for something that should be a simple team effort, but often is not. It's not a complaint about not knowing the killer's perks. Sometimes it's easy to tell if a killer has NO ED or not, and sometimes when I presume a killer has NO ED, they actually don't.
The point is simply to highlight how "just do totems" is not that simple when you are often in contact with teammates who never do them and you are pretty much subjected to doing almost all of them if not all yourself, on top of having to do every other objective like save/heal/do generators and strategise. Because if "just do totems" is going to be infantilised to such a degree then I'm going to pretty much just say "wait 60 seconds" to anyone who complains about DS because the counter is easy on paper.
So now you are saying the point of this thread isn't the issue of Totems or bad Survivors, but rather that you don't like the simple, straightforward "Do Bones" response because you feel belittled by it? You need to thicken your skin. Of all the things to waste a thread on, this has to be one of the most lame I've seen. People say "Do Bones" simply because that is the ANSWER. There is no other. The shortest distance is always a straight line. You don't like the answer because it isn't an easy answer, it allows no room to deflect blame. It is either you do the work or you don't.
I always write long, thorough essays. I rarely just say "Do Bones" alone because I like the sound of my own voice. :) Or, at least that is what most people believe. The truth is I'm my own harshest critic and agonize over every typo or mistake in grammar I make. I probably should just say "Do Bones" whenever I see posts like yours, because wasting time on explaining it to some of you is very frustrating. Why? You made your decision before you even wrote your post. You are looking for excuses. I hate to say this, because I'd rather think the best of everyone, but you are arguing with us simply because you are being willfully ignorant.

I feel for you; I really do! I remember my days in the Ranks where Survivors don't really know what they are doing. They hide in corners, squat around the entire map, dig in chests, stop to heal every time they are injured rather than work hurt when that Generator only needs six seconds of love, and so on. All I can do is say, "this shall pass." They will get better, and you won't carry the full load forever. You will advance via emblems and eventually graduate to groups that do at least realize that nobody gets out if the Generators don't get done. This is a blanket statement, of course, and there are idiots at every Rank, but overall things do get better. Just hang in there!

I don't get what significance you citing playing both sides has...it's irrelevant for the most part.
The problem with your solution is that many people in solo queue don't bother doing totems, even in red ranks. I used to run detective's hunch/small game as my general build and 90% of the time I was the only one doing at least 3/5 totems and most of the time all 5, and I typically did not do them fast, either.
The issue isn't so much the words behind "just do bones" but the sass behind it. It lacks context of actually playing the game, because playing solo queue everyone can witness the lack of quality of teammates. If they suck in looping, aren't efficient on gens, and do dumb saves and whatnot, what suddenly is going to compel them to do totems? Right: nothing. They should know, but they don't, so your explanation is hypothetical and not actually realistic. If it was realistic, undying+ruin would be a non issue as totems could be knocked out relatively fast.
I can easily say to someone who doesn't like DS "just wait 60 seconds" because that genuinely is the counter. But there's obviously more nuance behind the annoyance of DS, and similar in this instance.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1927874#Comment_1927874
I don't see what past NO ED discussions have on my topic.
I'm not sure if you actually read my OP because I already discussed what you talk about. Memorising totem spawns help, but that doesn't alleviate the problem of solo queue that people very often do not do totems, hence why undying was such an issue. Not doing generators is giving the killer free pressure. On top of that, memorising totem spawns isn't precise; they can spawn in a variety of areas, especially on some maps that have multi-levels.
Also again, you seemed to actually have not read what I said, because if you did I did not discuss about the perk needing to be removed or whatever. It was talking about how in solo queue people do not do generators and as a result you (the player who actually cares about totems) trying to do them gets punished as a result (giving the killer free pressure).
Heh. I know you don't get the significance of why I cited it, but then again you are still relatively new. To get truly good at Killer or Survivor you have to play BOTH. You have to see the maps and objectives from both perspectives, and Totems in particular require this context to understand them. And when I say you have to play both, I mean you have to play both for extended periods of time. This isn't a game where things come natural. You have to pay your dues, and learn your lessons. There is no way around it, period.
I want to point out, again, that everything you said back to me illustrates SURVIVOR problems, not issues with Totems. Bad teammates are just that, bad. It isn't game design flaw. It is the game. This is a 4v1 challenge, and you are only as good as your weakest link. You either:
- Start playing in a SWF to make use of their 5th Perk (Comms)
- Or you keep playing until your few, proud Solos get to the point where they are worth something.
For the record, GOOD Solos are amazing, and often far better than SWF Players who got to where they are carried on the backs of others. It is about paying those dues. The best loopers, evaders, aggro-style manipulators, and so on all come from the crucible of the Solo Que. Some of them may play in SWF from time to time, but they cut their teeth the hard way. I play Solo most games because it is harder, and I want to get better. When I play with my friends, it is fun and all, but I don't improve. I only get better at information management, not actual applied skills. Do you follow?
In the end, everything I'm telling you is moot if you don't WANT to hear it. You will either accept this is the game, adapt, and fight the good fight or you won't. There is no magic bullet. The DEV aren't going to fix it because it isn't broken. The nature of this game is the 4v1 and the strength of the Survivors is also potentially their greatest weakness. You have stated it in your own words, clearly illustrating the failure is on the part of Survivors in the matches that trouble you. Do you see my point?
-
@Sluzzy said:
As the game was already tailored for team coordination due to various reasons, and this DS nerf will exasperate the problem exponentially for uncoordinated solos or even friends that aren't necessarily talking. Folks will be standing around not doing the objective in fear they will lose their perk if the killer returns. Even afraid to heal. I can visualize it. It is pretty obvious this is ideal for the killer main side. Not doing objective gives killer more time to do theirs.
Hrm. I had to digest this point, as it is much better stated than some of the previous arguments. I would say that in the Potato Ranks, yes, you will absolutely see some Survivors holding on to their DS as long as possible. But in the end, that is no different from any of the countless other useless things Potato Survivors do, not the least of which is urban evading around the map the entire match or hiding in corners. So while I can concede this may happen at a certain, low level of skill, I do not see this as an overall problem.'
Most Solo Players (and I am one of them), who remain part of the few and the proud randos, progress rapidly and know time is the most precious resource in the game. They are either going to:
- Only use DS as intended and get away to safety and get on an objective or heal, or
- Use it aggro-style, without communication, to manipulate the outcome of an event or the game.
Do you see my point? While SWF's 5th Perk (Comms) makes the aggro-style use of DS (and other Perks) more effective, it is not necessary to still have it as an option. If and when I take DS, I often use it in my Solo games to get the outcome I want. Someone unhooks me, and I purposely choose to lag behind a bit to pick up the Killer to loop the them to some god-forsaken corner of the map where I will proceed to get downed and use DS. This can by my peers (and thus myself) well over the minute, as the Killer wastes most of that minute chasing me, then gets the stun, and then must make their way back to where ever things are actually happening. I also like to use Deliverance in this way.
Solos aren't as weak and helpless as everyone says. Remember, that while the SWF has been a growing percentage of Players, most people (for the longest time) were Solo and the managed to get by, win even. :) The problem with SWF and Solo being in the same Que is that the DEV have been trying to balance the SWF advantage (Comms) with Perk additions which strangle the Solo. The tweaks to existing Perks have never really had much effect one way or another. I want to say, in closing, that I respect that you were able to properly communicate your concern. I think it is a fair point, but I hope I have answered it and put your mind at ease. We cannot balance the game around Potato Survivors (or Killers). They will just have to grow out of bad habits.
-
I'm trying to reserve judgement. I'm not a fan of the new UI, nor do I even know WHY they decided to do it. Nobody was asking for it. Sometimes I think they do things which are simply "easier" to try to avoid doing the things which are "harder" and more needed. Changing up the interface doesn't, at least to me, appear to have any value whatsoever. However, before I critique it I'm going to give it a month or so to see how it feels. I don't find the playtest periods long enough to really give a good idea.
If after a month I find it neutral, i.e. it neither improves nor detracts from my play, I'm going to say "Meh, why did you waste time on this?" If I find it detracts from my play, "I'm going to say, why are you actively doing things we didn't ask for that only make the game worse." If I find it is actually useful, rather than just a different look, I'll say so and give it two thumbs up. Right now, I have the same concerns most people do, i.e. that it is too busy, is a distraction, gives me less information at a glance, and so on. I hope to be proven wrong.

Doing this in a SWF is easy as you can say how many totems have been done. On top of that, in the case of some hex perks like NO ED, you can 99% some gens or delay completing all gens until all totems are done to prevent it.
It's a different story in solo queue. You can't prevent anyone from doing generators no matter how much you try. Even if you are relatively familiar with totem spawns and are actively wanting to look for totems, you have no way of knowing how many are done by other survivors without individually checking where each totem is, wasting your time and pretty much not doing any objectives, particularly generators. Also, multiple maps have dreadful totem spawns that are difficult to find, particularly Swamp. On top of that, you still have many totem spots that cannot even be cleansed and they're glitched.
Even with Small Game and a map with add ons, you still have to roam around the map wasting so much unnecessary time that you might as well have done generators, so perks in particular don't help out that much in many scenarios. Detective's Hunch is awesome but not consistent unless the team gets generators done, and it's still a ######### situation to have to bring a perk dedicated to totems because of what I just said. It's like telling a killer player who doesn't like DS to play The Executioner if they don't like DS so much and to get over it. Or saying "just wait 60 seconds 🤪."
It's analogous to if there was a survivor perk that gave 25% bonus repair speed as long as there were breakable walls up and simply telling the killer "jUSt BreAk wAlls." For all you know they could have prove thyself and a good toolbox they found out of a chest. I don't understand how people don't get this.
Any time wasted not pressuring survivors is giving them free pressure on you, and the inverse is true as well: wasting time running around the map for several minutes doing totems is giving the killer free pressure.
It's just ######### advice that lacks any context. You're giving the killer free pressure for a perk they may or may not have, and in some cases it's not even worth trying to cleanse totems because of how the game is going. So when people complain about no ed and hex perks in general and just respond with a snarky response of "JuST dO tOtemS", it strikes me as actually not understanding the nuances of what they're talking about.
No, no it does not, lack nuance that is. I play both Killer and Survivor, and better than 90% of my Survivor play is in the Solo que. There are only five Totems, and four Survivors. Every Survivor spots between 1-3 Totems as they move about the map. If they take a break from self-caring or urban evading about, they can spend the 16 seconds to cleanse at least one. This basic, commonsense behavior doesn't require the communication of the SWF's 5th Perk (Comms) to complete.
Can SWF do it easier? Sure, they can do everything easier, but that doesn't change the fact that Solo can manage it just fine. The reason there isn't more nuance in the solution/advice you are being given is because there are no other nuances that matter. You either do Bones or you don't. It is a gamble; you may profit from cutting them out of your time resources, or you might pay a heavy price. That is the same gamble a Killer takes when they bet one of their Perk slots on something that might be gone in the first twenty seconds of the game.

I'm Curious if a killer just goes around with knockout and infectious and slugs and bleeds everyone out all game is that considered greifing? Was definitely not fun as i was on the receiving end of that nonsense. But the killer had bbq and didn't hook a single survivor Bled 3 of my team mates out. Legit left them down and kept just slugging did not hook a single person. I didn't report him because i didn't think that was bannable but one of the randoms told us all to report.
Technically (and I don't like it any better than you) it is not holding the game hostage because the game still moves forward as you all will eventually bleed out. It certainly does cause grief but wouldn't be considered that unless said person somehow got into all your games (or a lot of them) like hunting you down to do it over and over again. In short, it is just one really bad game with a Killer with bad manners, i.e. a poor sport.
For the record, I find this behavior sickening. Past sixty seconds, i.e. long enough to know a Survivor doesn't have DS, there is no reason not to hook them.

I would give them slack if they were in the lower ranks. But I’m rank 5 and they were of similar rank. You would figure that high of a rank you wouldn’t pull a stunt like having a staring contest with a Myers. I think it’s good to vent on Forums as long as you don’t name the people. It’s therapeutic and brings people together so they can gripe lol.
Believe me, I understand. I never get mad at the Killers; they are just doing their job. It is my teammates that push my buttons (all the time). Some of them are so dumb that I start to suspect they MUST be working with the Killer. My logic is nobody in the Red/Purple Ranks can be this brain dead. And sometimes the paranoid part of me suspects they must be using hacks because nobody that idiotic could have earned the Rank they hold.
Still, when I do a review of the videos I record of my games, and study my own performance, I find that I'm not near as good (or innocent) as I initially thought. I find that a few hours distance and a video to study what I did wrong is very healthy for perspective. I still see people doing idiotic things that trigger me, but I'm able to put it in a healthy context, i.e. what could "I" have done to do better in that game. Control the things you can control, and don't let the things beyond your control destroy your emotional balance. I can't claim credit for the sage wisdom; I got it from an Otz video.

This guy sees through the speeches.
<laughs> And that guy in the movie Wallstreet said "greed is good" but still ended up in prison. I want to point out that I posted this thread as a Killer main. I find people who suicide on the hook far less inconvenient than the people left behind. My side of the match isn't a team. You did me a solid. It is the others you left behind that are screwed, just as YOU will be screwed when someone does it to you. This attitude of me first (selfish is good) is great in a system of Social Darwinism when you are trying to claw your way to the top on the bodies of the others. However, I think it is only fair to point out that this game doesn't reward that behavior; it is the opposite of productive for Survivors. Like it or not, you need them to win, or to secure other objectives even if you lose.
The parameters of this game, as far as Survivors are concerned, do not reward the behavior you want to champion.

Just had a match where the team was facing off against a Myers. He downed and hooked a person. I was the only one doing gens. And my two other High IQ teammates decided to hover near the hook and have Myers stare them down, then he easily reached Tier 2 and down the both in one hit. From then on the match was dreadful. Managed to get the gens down to one and constantly saving my dumb team so they can be a distraction. I was finally caught and killed. These morons cost us the match. What dumb teammate stories does everyone else have?
Dumb teammate stories are as plentiful as stars in the sky. Of course, for ever one we have, someone else has one where we were the dumb teammate that let them down. The biggest danger in playing Survivor is the fact that it is easier to blame others for any failure. I'm not saying that blame isn't warranted, but easy access to it is a trap. Killers, at least, have fewer obvious people to blame. That is one of the reasons some people feel Killer is more stressful.
When I see a dumb teammate(s) I get upset too. I've often wanted to come talk about it (at length) here, but usually I manage to restrain myself because I still remember when I was a total idiot. I also remember that no matter how good I've gotten (and I've a long way to go yet) I still make dumb moves today. I'm not saying it isn't healthy to vent about the stupidity, it might even be educational for some people to learn what is stupid in the first place, but I am saying it is a good to keep one's own history in context.

You just have to be ######### ######### beyond hope, to think bullshit like this is a fair playable fun game.
I'm not saying it is fair, but it is playable. I know because I've bene through the SAME crucible. I started getting mostly Red and Purple Survivors when I hit the green Ranks too. The DEV tell us that their broken matchmaking isn't on, but it has been on since they initiated it. They call it "gathering data in the background" but they also kick in in the foreground frequently too to test whether or not they have gotten it to work yet.
It is playable, and it will make you play better if it doesn't make you quit. That which does not destroy us only makes us stronger. I became a much better Killer because of that crucible. I admit, however, I'm an extremely competitive person and losing games only strengthens my resolve. I realize that kind of mindset, often dubbed sweaty, isn't shared by everyone. In any event, that is the state of the game. You are going to go up against people outside your weight class regularly from now on. You either accept it, adapt, and rise to that challenge, or you find a game you enjoy more. I'm not saying this to be mean; I've just been where you are now.

More like being practical if you have a good summary in your head of how the particular match is going to go, especially if it literally spawns you less than 10 meters from the killer in a bad spot to boot and you're sitting up there watching your teammates going, "well, frak this match let's put the rest of this minute into another lobby search".
Again, what you call being practical, I call selfish. You don't know what the other Survivors still have to accomplish, what Rifts or Dailies they might be able to squeak out if given two minutes of your time. Some of them might be having fun (imagine that) even if they aren't winning. Just because you aren't having a good game, doesn't mean that they aren't also. Remember, it is possible to have a good game, win or lose.
I agree with you in one respect, you are making the choice FOR THEM and putting the game to rest. Again, that is the definition of selfish, where you have determined what is best for you (make yourself feel better by saying it is best for them) and leaving. I'm all for being practical and pragmatic if it is honest. Too many people try to legitimatize and make excuses for what is the COWARD'S WAY out.
