I don’t understand why there’s so many negative posts about billy on here. I play both sides equally and have many hours in this game and tbh I think the re-work seems fine. A lot of billy/hardcore killer mains seem upset but tell me why right now why a killer with a chainsaw that can down someone instantly, traverse the map in a few seconds, and can use his power infinitely in a chase should not receive a cool down? Take oni for a example, ( I main him) he has an ability that can one shot survivors LIKE billy but you have to either smack 2 survivors off the bat to fill up your power meter or take 1 chase and absorb enough blood to traverse the map and snowball and apply pressure. He is not someone that can whip out his Kanabo whenever he wants and just zoom across the map and just down someone, you need to actually get some chases going in which is why I’ve ALWAYS preferred oni over billy. You cannot just mindlessly spam they chainsaw whenever you want now. I feel like this rework was necessary and I just see a lot of people complaining.

crying is a valid and healthy way to work through intense or complex emotions.
Just because "it's a videogame" doesn't change the fact that people become invested in their hobbies, when your invested you can become passionate, when you become passionate you care, and when you care you can feel strong emotions, like sadness or anger.
Videogames are creations of passion, even the ######### ones. This means that playing and putting time into them is also an act of passion.

What do you want in return for it? im willing to compromise I have always been willing to listen so what do you think is fair for this change in return?

Everyone (and I mean everyone) would run DS because it would be an escape if they picked you up and an escape if they left you slugged.
the killer could let them get up and then hit them down again to wait for the ds to go out, or we could compromise and say that DS deactivates if you res yourself

Well, Survivors are certainly trying to dictate what's fair play by demanding punishments and mechanics to remove camping, tunneling, or slugging.
Like killers are demanding what is fair play by wanting punishments and changes to remove SWFs, genrushing, and map sizes?

Sounds like taking advantage. Games are always evolving, but if one changes to how you dont like it you get a refund? It doesn't make sense.
depends on how you look at it. I look at it as if im not satisfied with a product or the product changes past what I deem is acceptable for the money that I spent than I am entitled to get my money back. My country will back me up to as they will sue the company for breaking their laws that they agreed to when they decided to sell their product in my country

@Zoomies said:
No. Just like 'punishments' for 'camping' and 'tunneling' are stupid ideas. it's also a stupid idea to give Survivors even more base-kits ways to completely stop a Killer's snowball attempt.
People really gotta stop going 'Well, I want this and who cares if it screws Killers' when they make balance ideas.I also don't get why Survivors think they have some ability to decide what's 'fair play' in DBD...Oh right; because the Devs literally balance everything around Survivor's opinions.
But still; imagine logging into Overwatch and going 'Well! I don't think it's fair of you to SNIPE me because I'm too far away to shoot back! Blizzard should punish/ban/remove all Sniper characters because I think it's unfair!'
What's next?
Free unhooks to counter camping? ..Oh right; someone suggested that a few months back.
It's weird you state that survivors are the ones who decide whats fair play. are you implying im a survivor main? Cause im not and I have the post and account history to prove it. you're jumping the shark and trying to hyperbolize my idea when its really not that insane. Its comments and responses like this that stop conversation and keep solutions from presenting themselves. pretty sad imo

or, and I want you to just work with me here. Maybe perks shouldn't be created and used to solve problems. If we add to base kits we eliminate the need to create busted perks in the first place. saying that there are perks that solve the problem only admits that there is a problem without the perk. I've also stated before and I still dont think differently but if a survivor gets off of the floor by themselves that means the killer made a mistake.

I made the mistake of responding to Senzu in particular. A mistake I won't make again in the future. In general he's quite condescending to people who disagree with him and is particularly so towards me because he doesn't like my opinions.
I'll respond and have a discussion with anyone who wants to have a discussion, but when I catch myself arguing with someone who just wants to argue ignoring the original points or logic as a whole I simply stop wasting my time.
It's a general rule people of the forums should follow when interacting with an argumentative person.
Simply don't interact with them.
It's also weird they think you live on here? when is a post considered abandoned? Or is it just called I have better ######### to do and the post has ran its course?

wasnt swf just people doing the gens they spawned near, and rank means nothing anymore or at most even less than it use to. iv been rank 1 for 3+years and my girlfriend is rank 2 with only 180hours on the game. while swf is a huge issue just the overall balance of the game is an issue and thats due to the messed up ranks, way too many rank 1`s and 2`s have no idea of loops, tiles etc, yet still remain at that rank because its too easy. when the game if full of good survivors, swf or not survivors have the advantages, thats not including meta perks, maps, or weaker killers. killers have to slug to win or even have a chance at doing so and so survivors should get a free unbreakable, i understand being slugged is annoying but its need to win as a killer so i understand it and cant be mad at it
I guess im just going to have to disagree with you, thats ok though. I definetley think that ranks are over inflated right now. In reality im probably just barely a red rank killer and more than likely a green or purple rank survivor if the old rank reset was still in effect. So we can agree on that. However I want to point out that advocating for buffs or nerfs of any singular kind wont fix the state of the game. It's like a giant puzzle and any single change for better game health is only a single piece. theres still tons of holes in the puzzle and its definettley not pretty to look at yet but its getting there, slowly but surely.

@OldWiseOne said:
im not being funny but i got hit and just ran forwards without using pallets or windows and 3 gens popped before i went down (was doing a no pallet/vault challenge) survivor is way too easy as it is and giving them that well youre asking for every killer to quit. i play mostly survivor because its so easy and chill it dont even matter. at real high ranks killers really cant do much to stop gens and thats just the way it is.... its completely the wrong way to go about changes
I understand and beleive me I know. Im at those high ranks as a rank 3 killer/rank 4 survivor who goes against death squads often enough to know when the match is already lost. Believe me when I say I underrstand that SWF is completley broken and it will always be broken unless something major changes about it or the game itself. That doesnt stop people on the killers side from abusing the systems in place just like survivors do to take advantage of solo q survivors or very untalented SFW's

I'm not saying you are not. I believe you without checking your history. I'm trying to say: it's a bad time to ask for survivor buffs with their recent announcement
I can understand the anger, I can understand the annoyance. I however think there is a divide in the community and it wont be solved if people dont show that they want the game to be balanced instead of just their side being better. If I made this post when a major survivor nerf happened I would be accused of whining and trying to compensate for changes, If I do the post while killers are being nerfed I only anger them more. I want to be able to talk about stuff without fear for unwarranted hate. Could I have posted this random thought at a better time, probably but then the question becomes when is it appropriate.
-
Youre getting an unbreakable without the speed boost. I would argue with this change that unbreakable be changed to only include the speed boost to recovery and not allow people to get up a second time.

I was joking lol. I don't think survivors should be able to pick themselves up. The only time I'd see it being balanced is maybe having 1 person be able to pick themselves up if everyone else is also slugged, but odds are at least 1 of the 4 people have unbreakable.
I dont thinks its fair to have to bring a singualr perk to solve a problem that is built into the game. Just like killers shouldnt have had to use Ruin before it got nerfed to make games last longer than a second, survivors shouldnt have to bring a perk to be able to play without crawling on the ground like worms for the whole match.
-
@Clevite said:
No. Just give em a way to elect to die after so long.
That slugging all 4 and leaving them on the ground, because you are afraid to pip and face real competition is bs.
Id rather promote interactive gameplay instead of ways to just end the match. If I was a dev I would hope for my game to have systems in place to try and encourage playing through matches instead of just leaving them.

DS should be base kit. They'd only get it once so it's not even that powerful.
Id argue that it would indeed be powerful because its already powerful and its only used once as is. I dont know how to balance DS its a strong perk and will always be a strong perk. my only suggestion for it is that it should deactivate if a killer hooks someone else.
-
@DwightOP said:
U are seriously asking for survivor basekit buffs after they announced nerfing one of the best balanced killers in the game called billy and one of the very few who was just barely standing a chance against sweaty swf groups??
Man you have nerves.
I also have balls of steel. Jokes aside, I think its only fair that I try and bring attention to issues that plagues both sides. for the most part I have only talked about killer issues and have been pretty vocal and hard on BHVR for a lot of their #########. go through my post history and you will see I constantly advocate for killer buffs and disparage dumb nerfs for the killers side.
-
@Zoomies said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1421896#Comment_1421896
So? Sometimes slugging is a way to apply pressure; Survivors have to spend more time trying to pick up a Survivor than they would unhooking them.
Of the slugged Survivor would die on the hook, so you slug him to force a second Survivor off of gens, whereas no one would leave gens if the Survivor was hooked & died.
Again; no. Survivors don't need to have 'get up for free' in their base kit. Why not add '100% chance to self-unhook once a match' to 'combat camping'?
Again they only get it once, they have to think if its the right time to use or if they should wait for another survivor or just take the hook. it takes a decent amount of time for someone to fully recover. you can stop it by just hooking them, it is a binary choice on the killers part.
-
@Zoomies said:
No. Survivors don't get to get up for free. That's not balance, it's pure unbalance to make games even easier than they already are.
saying they get up for free is a bit ignorant on what it means to be left alone long enough to fully recover your bar on your own. if this happens its soley because the killer left them, the killer made a mistake.

So the trend give every killer a red bar obviously must continue so here some changes to give him a red bar.
When wraith goes invisible his movement speed is 120 and his uncloak time is back at beta times his red bar decreases when cloaked fully depletes he loses stealth and must wait 60 seconds for it to fully charged.
When wraith is invisible survivors can shine a light on him for .5 seconds to stun him for 6 seconds
I swear to god if your jokes get my beloved bell boi nerfed! 🤬

Gifted Bloodpoints are stored seperately. Bloodpoint Cap that you can earn with matches is still 1 Million. Devs can gift you any amount of Bloodpoints. Hence why many people have like 27 Million BP after losing their game data as a recompensation.

step 1: lose game data/corrupt game data
step 2: ??????
step 3: Profit

I want to take all the devs working on this game and sit them in front of a Games Done Quick Marathon. Any of them. Anything you add, even the most innocuous and unexpected thing can and will be exploited by someone. I get it. Your hearts in the right place. You want people to finish matches, I'm right there with you...but it's just human nature. If people can get one another banned in one way or another, someone will do it. Now imagine the nameless innocent people caught up in it.
thats the thing is that people did have this happen to them and we as a community ignored them out of hand because the claim until proven was so outrageous they just came off as people who rage quit then whined about the ban.

🙄
@SirCipher The reports are forwarded to the ACM's for investigation, they will review the chat logs and decide what action to take...that could be a temporary ban or a permanent ban depending on the circumstances (previous temp bans etc).
All reports are looked at and dealt with and action is taken on them providing that something bannable has actually occurred and there is sufficient evidence. You do not receive notification of what action was taken though.
Thats understandable though. only in the past few years has acknowledging that reports youve given have been acted upon has become standard. Smaller dev team means it will take more time than juggernauts like Microsoft and Sony who have systems like this in place.

100%
If I remember right, we got hit with the Ruin nerf and only heard about the map changes weeks or months later. I think there were some killer changes in there too. But the biggest issue was that we were hit with the nerf with the knowledge of past actions by the devs expecting to wait several months of gen rush (which we still are) with no word on actions taken or planned to be taken other than "we're going to watch and wait"
Communication is the most important aspect of any relationship and Player/Developer relationships are no different.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1421531#Comment_1421531
Possibly, but there's certainly room for transparency isn't there? We don't have to know every aspect of the decision making process, but it wouldn't hurt to be a little more transparent in regards to their decision making process right?
You remember right, ruin nerf was announced first week of January, map changes were announced 2nd week of April. we went three months with dbd being in its most unbalanced state in recent memory to then being in its arguabley most balanced state in recent memory.
BHVR has a communication issue. on the line of silent nintendo to Peter Molyneux of Fable who wont shut the ######### up. they are closer to silent Nintendo but without the masterclass quality. Thats not a quality knock on BHVR btw, nobody in the industry is as consistent in quality as Nintendo for as long as they have been in the game, its just a comparision in communication.

yeah give me a sec, its a little hard to find because tru3 removed the vid from his stream log to probably not give the hacker satisfaction or because the devs told him to after he talked with them. but people did clip it.

It was a bug that was found where people could manually ban and increase other peoples ban time. You can check for some clips on Tru3talents stream where he finished a match and came out with a 10 minute ban, then before our very eyes it increased to 25 minutes, then an hour, than jumped all the way to a 72 hour ban.

@SpaceCoconut said:
@Almo @Peanits If you're generally happy with how Billy is, why did you choose to nerf him at all? Obviously a lot of time was spent to create the changes for the overheating mechanic from the overheating visuals and the coding required for it to work.
But where is the news about changes that the players have been clamoring for for possibly much longer than you've thought about nerfing Billy?
-Underused perk improvements
-Generally weaker Killers
-Changes to keys and mories
-Nurse fixes
-Totems
-Sound issues
and other oft requested and talked about issues on the forums.
My question is simply "why"?
Why were resources spent on changing Billy when there are requests from the community for other more pressing issues like the ones I've listed already.
The Clown's movement speed penalty while throwing was removed while still leaving a slowdown bug in place and doesn't exactly help his issue creating "pressure" . Trapper still needs work but you mentioned before that the trap reset change happened because it was easy. If you were still working on Trapper, why have no changes happened since then to help with his other issues when clearly more effort has gone into this "minor" nerf for Billy that required an entirely new mechanic to be created.
Is something similar to the "minor" Billy nerf in the immediate works as a "minor" buff for Clown and Trapper?
To be fair, we're getting Bubba changes and it looks like you used the overheat mechanic for his tantrum without the overheat mechanic visuals and cooldown, then simply increased some numbers for him. Maybe additional Trapper and Clown changes are in the works and you simply haven't said anything just like these changes.
We don't know, but when things like these unnecessary or non-essential nerfs are announced, it really does feel like you don't listen to us at all.
Even if you totally listened and buffed Leatherface.
Please explain why this change was decided upon and why it was implemented before other longstanding and debilitating issues.
As an aside, I don't care about the change. I don't play Billy at all.
I'm more interested in how and why you make decisions and why you choose some to be prioritized over others.
I simply want to understand why, because many decisions that are announced often sound nonsensical to those of us who play the game at as high of a level as our skill will allow.
Do you feel that the frustration with most decisions for DBD lies in a lack of communication?
I kind of got this feeling around the ruin nerf. Now with hindsight its very clear that ruin was nerfed alongside them developing the mass map changes. Do you think that if they either waited and released the ruin nerf alongside the map changes or at least said "we are changing this because we are about to massively improve and balance most of the maps in the game" that we would have been less inclined to get pissed. while their were some glaring ommissions in certain changes to maps I would argue overall it was a bonus to a more balanced dbd. In conjuction with the map changes the ruin nerf doesnt feel like such a severe nerf anymore on most maps. Anyway point is communication.
If the devs talked to us more about the ######### they were working on or atleast say after they announce changes that go live in the next update they atleast mention what they are working on next that everyone wouldnt feel so on edge and angry?
