Then they'd have to double down on cosmetics. People already get spicy about it when a bug comes up. Why u no fix gaem? Y yoo dedicate devolpment to bunny hoods? Fix gaem!

why would that be though? We have plenty of examples where game devs are rewarded for being generous with their payment models instead of gouging their customers of money for content. Also believe it or not people will complain less if they didn't have to pay/obnoxiously grind for the content that they are unhappy with.

Yup, cus it's not worth reading a post from somebody who shows right off the bat that they have 0 intention to be genuine. First line is an utter straw man.

Shrine is anti-consumer? It's basically free dlc.

Want DBD to turn in a Gacha where you randomly get the perk you want or bloodpoints? That's anti-consumer.

or you know it could just be free and just charge us for the skins like most live service games do

Thanks for watering down my post like that. Because the only thing I said is "don't play."

Your response already isn't worth reading just based off that beginning.

You proved me right. you didn't even read the post and you proved me right.

It's not a paywall when you can get things for free. If you can't pay up anything, and you don't have time to play, you probably shouldn't be spending your time on video games.

I'm not saying the shrine is perfect, and in fact I have issues with it too, but unless you want to complain about the shrine which I understand, anything else you'd be suggesting that I can think of would just be getting entitled. You don't get things just handed to you because you want them, you gotta work a little for it. That's why the option to pay is there: in case people really don't want to grind. If you don't have money or don't want to pay, that's when you work for it.

Licensed killers are a whole other topic, but as far as original characters that you can get for shards, there's not a paywall, and if you don't have the time to play the game and grind for the shards then maybe playing games isn't the best hobby for you.

that moment when someone says "hey your service isn't in line with other games in the market as to what you charge for and the content that we receive" and the response is don't play.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!

It's not entitlement to advocate for a better product for the consumer it's called respecting the money that I spend and the time that I invest. you say videogames aren't the hobby for me and yet the rest of the videogame market is offering better deals on how they distribute content. Path of Exile is a completely free game with thousands of hours worth of content and yet it doesn't charge a dime for any of its content besides cosmetics. They are a much much smaller dev team of barely over 10 people and yet they constantly pump out free content. there are so many games that dont charge for additional gameplay content, a lot of which are multiplayer games. Overwatch, fortnite, dota2, csgo, halo5, cod MW, Apex Legends, Minecraft, Terraria, stardew valley, escape from tarkov, no mans sky, sea of thieves, the list goes on and on. Hell even another 4v1 game in RE:Resistance offers all of it's gameplay content for free as well as all of its cosmetics.

Im not asking for a hand out, im asking for dbd to not treat me like a whale and to not take advantage of people who have addictive tendencies. It's the socially and morally responsible thing to do. The amount of ways that they monetize their game is abhorrently disgusting and takes advantage of those rare few who cannot say no to buying everything that they shill because guess what they have a problem and BHVR actively knows about and takes advantage of it.

In the past few years gamers have started to take a stand against shady business practices that prey on those who cant stop. Lootboxes, time gates, high prices for little content, general money gouging. All of it designed to suck as much money as it can from you and when you stop giving it money its no longer targeting you but the person who is still opening their wallet. DBD is not and will not be safe from this. You can see it in the forums more and more of how disappointed people are with the new content, with the price of skins, with the insane amount of grind you need to do just to keep up with the game, not to mention the grind that new players are put through that gets worse and worse as time passes. yet they stay because they love this game, Because I love this game. Eventually it will come to a head. unfortunately there will be people like you who feel no empathy nor want to understand the point of view of others who feel differently than you on a problem that you don't think and refuse to think exists.

Yet, I want to try and give you a chance to give your point of view, I want to be able to listen to what you have to say and stay open to how you feel. If I cant do that for you than how could I ever expect you to do the same for me, yet I fear you wont offer me the same in return.

  • if youre Australian you're guaranteed a refund due to consumer laws fyi

  • @Huff said:

If you don't want the character, don't get it. Wait for the perks instead. Simple as that.

That's nowhere close to "anti-consumer" when you can pick up the characters (except licensed ones) and perks without paying a penny.

I hate using the word "entitled" but this is starting to cross that line.

its absolutley anti consumer when gameplay features are locked behind a paywall/timed rng wall. just take BBQ for example. if we just look at how often it was in the shrine in 2018 and 2019 it was in there for a total of 3 times in 2 years, all of which were in 2019. how is that friendly to new players who just bought the game?

It's laughable that DBD can get away with selling gameplay content for cash when most games do all gameplay content for free and just charge for the cosmetic stuff.

@MongolPSR anyways, creating a killer that the strenght does not involve skill isnt a good idea.

And im saying that you would still need skill to win on a 120% killer. going 5% faster doesn't make you magically able to win loops. there's also plenty of killers that have much higher movement speed as their powers.

  • @TraitorousLeopard said:

Please add a Death Note Killer who just has to type out people's names to mori them, but he's just an unarmed guy so the survivors can just punch him and take his notebook.

Imagine the pog moments, as I sweat profusely trying to type "Hex: Devour Booty" before they run over and punch me in the face.

survivor writes your name in the book. 2nd killer player loads in and hunts you.

  • @Peanits said:

I think if all perks were available in the shrine all the time, it would definitely be a no brainer for most people to just get the perks. But that's the thing; they're not. You've gotta' wait and hope that all three of their perks appear in the shrine, and with how many perks are in the game there's no telling how long that might take. Getting the character is a sure thing. You get them, you spend a few points on them, you have all the perks for sure.

This statement is defending anti-consumer business models which only gets worse as the game gets older and more dlc gets made.

But how would they implement it? Would it be a realistic style? I dunno. When I think of anime & DBD coming together, it just doesn’t seem like the right fit. Like imagine explaining to someone about this game featuring iconic slashers. And then all of a sudden, “oh and you can play this character from this anime.” It just seems so random and out of place 🤔

whats iconic to you might not be iconic to others. Is the demogorgon truly iconic? stranger things hasnt even been out that long so can you really classify it as iconic?

  • @slunder said:

@MongolPSR as a survivor, you need to know how to loop and you need to do some decision making, like deciding between a doing a rescue or a gen.

as a killer you need to know when to continue a chase or drop it and go find different survivors, this is decision making except you dont have teammates who are helping you.

  • @slunder said:

@MongolPSR well the power of having 120% speed is not something that asks for skill,

I mean...... the power of holding down M1 to do the main objective as survivor doesn't either so I don't know whats your point.

many people think that Alien wouldn’t fit at all and that Demogorgon was a mistake to add. And a franchise doesn’t have to be on the same level as those to be considered.

i just think the translation of the art style from anime to DbD wouldn’t work well, but considering that the Ring girl originated from an anime sheds a new light on this. Darkness and twisted lore can still be there independent of anime, sexuality or hotness.

Yep, now that I was able to think a bit, both the gudge and the ring were inspired by a manga book called Spiral. It's a super creepy manga that inspired a lot of the anime/japanese horror genre.

  • @OldWiseOne said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1418741#Comment_1418741

not as iconic as Alien, jason or even a werewolf or vampire and no anime ever will be that huge, they arent a big thing and dont fit in to DBD. not to mention theyre often over the top and contain schoolgirls. all im saying is i play this game for the actual horror and iconic horror, and i dont see any sort of comparison between the two. i dont want things to be based on sexuality, how hot characters etc. but instead the dark and twisted lore that surrounds horror and its iconic characters, its what sold this game to me not because it tries to fit everything in a single title.

again you're refusing to think about any culture besides your own. Guess what, a lot of the famous characters that have been put into the game are not nearly as recognized in other countries. You are also not the only one who plays this game.

  • @HarleyQuinn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1418741#Comment_1418741

There’s enough anime games out there & they can always make more. Bringing anime into a horror game that features iconic slashers would just be weird as hell. Imagine Michael Myers chasing after friggin Naruto or some sh*t lmao. It’s an exaggeration but no thanks.

Again, anime doesn't mean it has to be some famous protagonist in a shonen, it also doesnt mean they're going to drop in some shell shaded character, just that that character is more relevant and famous in a different culture than the western world. I have no doubt that if a characterr from an anime or manga will get the dbd style treatment. example, Spirit and Oni. Both killers obviously eastern inspired

  • @slunder said:

A HORROR game containing iconic characters that have been spoke about through the ages and never put into a game

Big oof to insult me cause I poke a little bit of fun. Also I dont think your taking into account how culturally relevant and important anime is to eastern cultures. Also you do know there is quite a bit of horror anime out there. hell one of the most famous asian horror icons started out as a manga, that horror icon being Sadako from Ringu or as america knows it The Ring.

Having a more precise breakdown is always good. If your argument is when need ALL the data or no data at all I'd disagree.

My arguement is that without enough data the data then becomes deceiving and hides the truth. There is an art to lying with numbers and its very easy to do.

I don't want to argue a hypothetical here but the point of statistics is it grants a better determination as to why players do certain things. Like I said if someone makes a point like "well most survivors play nancy, she must have the most desirable perks" a dev can come in and say "nah, only 10% of nancy's perks are used by survivors " or something to that effect.

ima try this again cause my post got removed because i edited it an added a comma.

I understand, what im saying is that thats not good enough, lets take your nancy example for instance. what ranks are those players, what region are they in, how many hours have they been playing the game, what percentage of players even own/have access to her perks, what killers have these perks gone up against in a percentage format, how often do they win while using these perks, how often do the perks get used? All of these things are valid pieces of information that we need just to answer this question on if these perks are the most desirable.

Facts are facts, if people misinterpret them then it's on them. Honestly if it was an issue the dev's could just clarify whatever points are wrong. This isnt necessarily true. you can absolutely lie with numbers that arent false. Facts are only facts if you get all the information on how things achieved certain results.

I feel the same way. I don't even have motor-function disabilities like you mentioned and I'm still hurting after 30-45 seconds on the hook.

I basically have really stretchy tendons, I can bend my fingers, elbows, and legs in really weird ways but it also means I injure those body parts much more easily as they have a much wider range off motion and wear and tear much quicker as a result, I also easily pinch nerves because of it. so yeah, pain.

I've had multiple games in the past few weeks where I have been spamming A while on the hook, but I'll still let go anyway. Not sure if it was a bug, or if the game didn't receive my input, but I would love to see a change to the struggle mechanic.

it honestly feels like on controller the game takes your base pps (presses per minute) at the start and makes that the bar you cant fall under so you either need to maintain or go even faster to not die, which becomes really difficult near the last 30 seconds.

When the Legion FIRST came out he was 130% in frenzy and was fine.

Then he had his update and was nerfed down to 125% with a slower vault speed among other things and would struggle to get a hit in with Frenzy around certain loops

And then he was buffed back up to 130% with the vault speeds restored and was fine again.

Huh I didnt know all that, like I knew he was changed because he was apparently really unfun to play against but damn.

  • now think of pig stealthing on an indoor map like Hawkins. You'd be stabbed before you could even see miss.piggy

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

Let me also remind people that the Legion before his most recent buff was often unable to get a hit in on Survivors in stronger loops.

At the time he was a 125% Killer with a significantly increased vault speed.

They had to buff him to a 130% Killer with an even faster vault speed for him to get hits in reliably under those circumstances.

A Killer that has 120% MS, 40 meter TR and absolutely nothing else would be underpowered.

Is that true? I wasn't around when legion first came out I started playing right before ghostface dropped so my experience with him was already after the changes.

    You’re right, I don’t know what he’d think.

What I do know is that 120% base speed would be broken when factoring in other perks and game mechanics. Let me consider your “balance ideas”:

Option 1 / Wind Up on Basic Attack -

All you’d have to do is time your windup and you’d get the survivor at any standard loop. I also don’t believe the devs would want to stray away from changing a base mechanic like the standard basic attack (speed, range of lunge, etc).

Option 2 / 120% in Chase, 110% or lower outside of chase -

120% is so strong that a killer would have to be slower than Nurse to compensate. That would lead to very boring/tedious map patrols and dull gameplay for both sides.

    Option 3 / 3 hits to down a survivor -

I think this mechanic could easily be added (the first hit adding a unique status effect that then allows the next two hits to down), but I don’t realistically think the devs want to stray from the norm of either an instadown or 2 hits to down. Also, this would be very unrewarding gameplay... the fact that this killer would need 3 hits to down a survivor means he’s so strong/fast that an extra hit would be easy to obtain. Survivors would have little chance to outplay the killer.

You sir get an up vote for taking the time to actually respond. thank you.

For the most part I agree with you, I however want to try and push whats possible in this game for survivor and killer designs/mechanics. It's why I made this post, to try and see what the community could come up with to create something interesting.

Are you sure you have to tap faster on controller? If this is in fact true, it's a bug and should be reported.

maybe it just feels that way, IDK. I do know that I had to change the tapping button to B as it felt like the A button needed more inputs or else I would die, switching it to B helped me be able to slow down a bit but not much. I also know its not the controller because It's brand new and doesnt have the same issue on other games. so maybe, I would have to do a test to make absolutley sure.

Point is though is that I know you guys dont want for your players to just be on their phones while on hook, but I really hope you don't want your physically disabled players to be unable to play for a variety of reasons. Videogames have made major steps in giving accessibility options to players who cant do things like tap rapidly, or in a variety of other ways.

  • I absolutley want to see the struggle mechanic change as the struggle mechanic literally hurts me. I cant make my hand tap like that for as long as they want and on controler you have to tap faster than you do on keyboard to not die. Often times I dont struggle simply because I don't want to be hurt by playing a video game due to my motor-function disability in my hands.

  • No, didn't that university lady prove that he did the math wrong?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/169226/could-a-future-killer-be-120-movement-speed

I think one that moves at 120% speed and breaks pallets twice as fast would be fun but would need a 40 meter TR to balance

Id say bump it up to 42 like huntresses humming, don't know about the breaking pallets thing though as the movement speed alone is eliminating the need for all the perks that give bonus movement speed, if we eliminated all the perks that increase action speed then it would be obnoxious in my opinion and easily broken. I genuinely think that this type of killer would have to be handled very delicately to be balanced and fair.

Peanits doesn’t need to give his opinion on something crazy like this.

120% permanent speed is broken... then you add bloodlust to equation... and then you factor in NOED and PWYF... You’ve got the recipe for a braindead killer with zero counterplay.

This is oof if you thinks it's crazy, pretty harsh reaction to a fun idea.

Also weirdly cute that you are speaking for peanits, like you know what he would think.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

You wouldn't need to do as much as you'd think.

120% MS acts as minor anti-loop and boosts gap closing and patrol times. But that's it. 120% MS does not hard counter loops like a 110% Killers power does or anything.

PWYF is great and all, but you don't start getting free hits with it while you only have 1 stack. Easier hits yes, but not free. Same goes for NOED.

As for specifics. I've designed 2 Killers capable of indefinite 120% MS

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/156229/killer-idea-the-wolf-v2

The Wolf is a transforming Killer with a 110% stealth mode that enables and gradually empowers a 120% beast mode

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/48451/killer-idea-the-acolyte

The Acolyte isn't 120% per say, but is able to increase their base MS throughout the trial as they hit Survivors.

In both cases they can have both 120% AND a power, with the balancing factor simply being a prerequisite before they can start using the speed.

I love these, and will digest them as I eat lunch. plus I have wanted a werewolf for freaking ever so bonus points

  • Still waiting on my werewolf. we already have the hairless doggo, and I now want my fluffy doggo!

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

No, never. Loops are designed around 115% movement Speed. If a Killer has less, they get an ability to make up for that.

You can see how laughable Loops become when NOED is active, which gives 4% Speedboost. So you can say that 5% more Movement Speed would be roughly the same.

It would be really too hard to balance around 120% Movement Speed for one Killer, since his ability would actually be something that hurts him instead of help him.

    @KnotEnthusiast said:

Honestly, I doubt it'll ever happen, for exactly the reason you said. So much of the game revolves around movespeed that introducing a killer that essentially has bloodlust 1 built in would require the devs to deliberately gimp their power to offset the movement speed, which just isn't really good from a design standpoint. I don't think anyone would really want to play a killer who's main draw is just moving slightly faster.

SO I think this is mostly my fault for not explaining well enough, when I think of a killer like this then it would make sense that if they had a power it would have to be an information gathering power instead of helping in a chase. Think meyers with his wall hacks or doctor with his little finger snap. Though I definetley agree that its seems hard to balance when you have to purposley gimp the killer to make it remotley fair. however BVHR already does this wil several powers, if not all. a few examples would be huntress having to go to lockers to get more hatchets, deathslinger having to reload, hag having a limited number of traps, wraith being unable to attack while cloaked. those are just a few examples but I do agree wit you that its hard balance without seeming really lame.

  • Nah I like him the way he is. The only buff I would accept is make yellow windstorm basekit so you can play other builds besides windstorm wraith.
